I'm watching Tericho's latest theory video and it got me thinking about the Prototype's true intention towards the player, and maybe why he killed Catnap.

Neither Huggy Wuggy, Mommy Long Leg nor Catnap attacked us right away. They lurked around. Well Mommy was more directly present. But all three starts off not being a danger. I guess Catnap putting us in the trash compactor was dangerous but seeing how he loves to play cat and mouse and can immediatly be seen lurking around, I think he knew we'd get away anyways.

Added to that, Catnap tells us to leave constantly through the chapter. Not just once, not twice. He wrote everywhere that we had to leave.

We know how eagerly he obeys tye Prototype, so we can assume most of the things he does, the Prototype asked him to. Probably same for Huggy. And Mommy could have been an outlier in following the Prototype but she seemed to be scared of him enough to at least not go against him.

So my theory is that the Prototype doesn't want us dead. He just wants us to leave the factory. He had two occasions to kill us himself, yet he didn't. All three main antagonists eventually tried to kill us in the end of each chapter but Huggy ended up seemingly dead (we know he's not tho), Mommy killed by us and then retrieved by him. He didn't had the time to punish them for trying to kill us. But he did for Catnap. And i think that's why he ended up killing him. Either Catnap wasn't supposed to end us or it was punishment for failing to drive us away without coming to harm.

Poppy and the Prototype are on opposed sides, that much is clear. Poppy wants us to uncover the full truth behind Playtime Co, the Prototype wants us to leave and forget about it all.

So that means there is far more to discover down that damned Factory. Things the Prototype doesn't want us to discover.

What is your fav genshin world quest? And do you think world quests suffer from not including playable characters in them? Or is it better for them to only have NPCs? Like I know some people have critiqued enkanomiya world quest with "where is Kokomi" since this is basically her place.

i think making blank statements like "world quests suffer from not having playable characters" is reductive and short-sighted. i dont care if characters are playable or not if they are well written and if they work within the quest. in fact, some archon quests suffer from having too much playable characters in them. we absolutely did not need ayaka date in inazuma archon quest. i wrote that post about collei bc i think her conflict fits aranara quests perfectly and current npc in that quest has no character and does nothing, except wake up and get dendro vision for free. its not about whether collei is playable or not.

actually enka is one of my fav world quests. and no, it absolutely did not need kokomi in it. and i rewrote entire inazuma archon quest, giving her actual character development and strategist arc, so i'm speaking from kokomi pr brigade perspective.

when we're talking if character should be in a quest or not, its not about whose place it is bc they like live here. its about what they would bring to this specific quest. what are the themes and POINT of the quest. and what is the development arc is for this character, does it fit this quest, what this character's presence would meaningfully contribute.

so like. what is enka about? its about enjou intrigues, its about lies and gaslighting, about how clever assholes like him can frame the narrative to make you see white as black and black as white and manipulate you into doing what he wants. and to echo this, the deeper, hidden narrative, is about meta players perception of the lore. its about how celestia are actually the invaders who conquered teyvat by force and then pretended to be creators of this world and killed anyone who even learned the truth, like orobashi, despite them having heavenly aethetic. how orobashi went to fight raiden knowing he will die as a part of celestia's punishment, even tho before we were told he wanted to destroy inazuma. and the deepest buried lead was that despite us being told that vishaps are evil dragons attacking humans, mindless brutal animals, they are in fact sentient beings, and in fact, real natives of this world who were invaded and then framed as evil for fighting back. like, before enka i didn't give a fuck about vishaps, but after it i became dragon lore enthusiast for this exact reason

at the core of that quest is how kokomi ancestors sucked horribly, mistreated their own people while presenting themselves as glorious empire, and also did horrible eugenics and warcrimes on vishaps, who they KNEW were sentient beings, because they could learn human language and talk. and they captured children of these sentient beings, grafted corrals into their flesh, kept them in captivity in a deepest cave for decades, just to then slaughter them and take the bloodsoaked corrals off their dead bodies to use it to revitilize watatsumi bare earth. and it was repeated again and again, generations of torture, literally soaking blood of dragon children.

and this all is kinda buried under the narrative of "defeating evil monster dragons to save the island", because this is traditional fantasy narrative and its structured like that to obscure the reality from players without ever lying to them. you have all the facts, but you need to realize that YOU are playing the villain here by yourself. just like enjou manipulating the truth without ever actually lying.

so like. what is kokomi supposed to do here. she can't realize the truth and try to make amends, bc at this point of the overall story players are not supposed to understand that dragons are people who were invaded by celestia. they are not supposed to see vishaps as sympathetic yet, enka is the first major lore drop to give this reveal foundation, but the reveal itself only happens in fountaine with neuvi.

and if kokomi doesn't realize the truth, then she's just being duped by enjou like the traveler, which makes her look stupid, and she does what? stands here and listens to the lore? kills dragons herself? so that after fountaine players could look at neuvi, realize that other vishaps are people like him too and go "wait, was kokomi doing warcrimes against dragons????" like, as of now, she has deniability bc like. she's never been in enka herself, she didn't know she's sending the traveler to kill what is basically dragon kids tortured and raised in captivity, for her its an ancient ritual to save her island. but like if you add her to the quest, it fucking crumbles.

tldr; characters should be in quests if they add something to them and have their own development based on quest events. kokomi should have had better written archon quest, she should not have been in enka. i do hope tho they revisit enka in future and then kokomi is here, bc now after dragon lore recontextualization, she can learn the truth and confront enka's legacy

I know how that in the Milliuim world arc people are upset on how Theif king Bakaura story ended with him being merged with Zorc and not addressing the issue of the massacre of his village. Well we all know that Kazuki Takahashi (RIP) had to cut the arc short due to a massive health scare as well as a loss of readers ( due to the focus not being on the card game). The Memory world arc was cut short  due to fears of the manga not being able to finish. That being said I have to come to thought process of what the story could have been and what had  actually happened with Atem all those years ago by looking at what was not said.

Atem's father we know ordered the millennium items creation and was horroried when he learned how they were made.  Asking the gods to only punish him and not Atem. He died and Atem became pharaoh. When Atem ruled the items were used to exorcise monsters that had taken over people's souls as a way  of keeping his subjects safe and to keep peace.He could have also had done other duties of his station such as perpareing his tomb etc. (maybe having friendships with Teana  and Joe , (Anzu and Joey's past  lives according to the game Forbidden memories). When Bakaura attacked the palace and the events that followed Atem than learned the horrible truth and decided to take action. He and  maybe a small army had to fight Zorc and with loses mounting; came to the conclusion that the items  with all there evil and how they were made, the monsters that spawned from them; were to dangerous for the world and decided to end the threat by  any means. He smashed the puzzle and sealed his soul inside losing his name and memory  and body.  But before he did he named Seth as his successor and order his name to be stripped off the records.  Either Seth , Atem or both made a plan to make guardians of the items  knowing that Zorc could return and for a way for Atem to finally enter the afterlife.

Who knows maybe someday we get an anime about Atem's life  based on memory world that shows how it actually happened and ends with Atem sealing himself in the puzzle. One can dream…

A revolutionshipping idea I just had that would take place after DOSD either 6 months or a year. The whole idea is that Kaiba did go to the afterlife and meet Atem but is stuck there he is not dead but alive just stuck in a Linbo state. Of course Mokaba wants him back, Atem decently wants him to back and live his life and not leave his brother alone. Here is where Anzu comes in she than sacrifices herself to take Kaiba's place in the afterlife! Yes it would mean she would join Atem permeanty in the afterlife so Kaiba could return (so will see him GX etc) even tho it is somewhat bittersweet since she would have to see goodbye to Yugi, Joey, Mai etc  but she would get to join Atem.

There is still some stuff to work out but I thought I'd share.

Venus bless those who have the best morals, values and behaviours in society. It’s not about looks. It’s not about materials. These are the consequences of a great conduct in society.

Those who have a dignified or strong Venus in their chart naturally exhibit those qualities. They are strong willed, don’t let anything slide and make people bow down to their will if they see inappropriate behaviours from someone. Venus is punishing her now cause she was not the commander in chief of her love life and she also did some crazy things to men when she was a stripper so this is just karma. People also threw her drinks during her concerts. She is only receiving back the attitude and behaviours she herself exhibited at some point. Venus also gave her a music platform and money because she was the commander of her career. Venus gives and takes during its Mahadasha.

WELP I NOW FEEL AS IF I HAVE ENOUGH CONTENT TO POST ABOUT MY OWL HOUSE AU SO YALL BETTER GET READY FORRRRRRRR

The golden heir au!!

This au mostly follows canon but is much darker in tone and does go off track in specific canon moments because of the addition of a new character, a grimwalker clone of Belos who was made specifically to be a backup body but that plan was thrown completely to the side when the grimwalker ended up running away at a pretty young age, getting found by Eda (she’s like a magnet for traumatized children I swear) and has been adopted in everything except name by Eda also the grimwalker works as an assistant to Eda.

Whilst the grimwalker is at the owl house, Belos is on the hunt for that grimwalker because his current body is rotting alive because of the curse so time is extremely limited which means he has Hunter specifically on this case to hunt down the grimwalker under the pretense of that grimwalker having been kidnapped by wild witches and that Belos just wants to see his son again before he “dies” (this is a complete lie which Hunter doesn’t find out the truth until this aus version of hollow mind but anyways I don’t want to spoil the whole thing so I’ll just leave it at that) also the fact that when Luz enters the demon realm it shakes everything up even more so without her realizing by finally leaving a trace that Hunter can follow to that grimwalker…

So with all that context out of the way…

Meet the unfortunate grimewalker and golden heir himself, Pip

He’s for a lack of better words a little shit. (Hooty is always on the defense around Pip because of all the pranks Pip does to both him and everyone in Pip’s general vicinity lmao)

(Fun fact Pip’s real name is actually Philip because Belos had decided that Pip was going to be his final grimwalker before and after the day of unity also because he also wanted to be known as Philip during the day of Unity and sorta have his work go full circle…)

Pip’s job given to him by Eda is to steal human realm “treasures” (trash) alongside Owlbert, which Pip did pretty well until he got caught by an extremely confused Luz who’s was dead set on getting back her stolen trash and her copy of the good witch Azura so she ends up unknowingly enters the demon realm just like canon but this time to chase and confront Pip, Luz confronts Pip but they’re both making such a ruckus that the guards show up and they both almost get captured until Eda comes along and saves them, after that it goes just like canon except at the end where in order to both to make it up to luz for stealing her book and as a punishment from Eda for leading luz into the demon realm Pip is forced to become Luz’s guide to the demon realm (luz is still Edas apprentice in this au tho.) after this everything changes because the guard who tried to capture Pip and Luz had reported to Hunter a possible sighting of Pip and how he’s been found with a random human which Hunter then realizes he can use Luz as bait.

Also I’ll eventually talk about Pips relationships with the other characters in another post.

By the way Pip can do magic despite being “human” and not having a bile sac or a palisman, an example of this is the illusion he put on his ears when he’s out in public to make them long and pointy like a witch’s but that’s the only magic he does in general because he finds it extremely hard to focus on controlling the strength of the magic and also keeping the spell active so he prefers just not to really use magic. Magic usage makes him extremely tired also which is another reason he mostly avoids it.

Also Pip can use magic only because during the process of Belos growing him Belos had to cut off one of his arms to use as an ingredient (specifically the “bone of ortet” which fun fact an “ortet” is the original plant from which the plant's clones are descended from,) and so due to that arm being used as an ingredient the glyph arm carvings and unlucky the curse too had passed on to Pip as well.

The curse works similarly to Belos’s but is much less stronger and gets extremely agitated and causes a lot of pain if he’s used to much magic at once but I’ll focus on the curse properly in another post.

(Also I’m not the most experienced writer but I can draw so excuse my writing skills lol and try to at least enjoy the art)

Miguel

In June 2023, Ishida posted a short story about Miguel from the Jack Jeanne winter play for Fumi's birthday. The original post includes a drawing and a music link to listen to as you read. I'm still just an amateur, but I did my best to translate it to English. I also tried to maintain the poetic Twitter short story structure as much as possible. (Note that this has both plot and character spoilers about the winter play)

Miguel, as a child on the prosperous Neshiromi Farm, Lived happily outside of Havenna.

Sowing seeds in hot summers and passing time through cold winters, Bore plentiful good fruit.

2. Neshiromi fruit, with its long-protected cultivation traditions, Boasted a mellow fragrance and refreshing sweetness. When trading with merchants from the northern cities, it would sell out in less than a few days.

3. Miguel loved his work. In the village, life was too busy to even notice boredom But, in this quiet life, nothing felt missing.

One day he would inherit the family business, And be joined in marriage to the house of a daughter of a respectable family friend. It would then be his turn to pass the ancestors' traditions on to his descendants.

There was no conceivable path other than this.

4. The battle in the north continued into its 47th winter. Shadows of the flames of war extended towards Miguel's village.

Soldiers armed with bayonets arrived. The crop fields were devastated to shreds. His father, mother, and even his grandmother with a long-time leg injury, were all killed. The house was set aflame.

In the village, the ones being utterly crushed underfoot in the inferno and the screaming, Miguel turned his back on them, and fled alone.

5. He was headed for Havenna.

In that city whose name he once heard, The pleasure and the numbness, was said to make one forget everything. For Miguel, this was necessary.

He could only keep walking.

There was absolutely nothing but ruined land and yet, Like a fool, he continued

6. Upon reaching Havenna, Miguel started work in a room of the night.

As he had nothing, his only option was to sell himself.

Every night, he filled the loneliness of random strangers. As the days added up, he sensed a growing thirst inside.

In the overwhelm of his own misery, whenever he was alone, He remembered life in his hometown and cried often.

7. He wanted support from someone but, Fleeing the village alone made him ashamed of himself. Even to close friends, he was unable to open his heart.

By going to these lengths simply to gather money, He felt as if he was becoming defiled.

Gradually, this grew into a sense of punishment for his sins. He thought instead that he deserved to become defiled.

8. At this same time, a woman in a similar line of work Became friends with him. She was a liar. It was carefree and easy.

When they had free time, they would purchase it from each other. It supported him living in Havenna, however; He thought they would never be truly close.

He liked her, but all possible paths seemed to lead to ruin, So he was afraid.

9. At one point, he fell in love with his friend's friend. Despite being in Havenna, she was inexperienced and pretty.

10. Rukiora. "Farewell to the night" He thought the name quite strange, but it seemed to be her real name.

His heart was stolen by her clear singing voice. He could never say it, but he wanted her all to himself he tho-….

11. Rukiora always dreamt of a future outside of Havenna.

Outside of Havenna was beautiful, it was fun. Everything would happily exist out there for certain.

He wanted to tell her for her sake. Someday she would know the truth and he wanted to keep her from being hurt.

12. "You're wrong, Rukiora. The outside is wasteland as far as the eye can see. The rice paddies, the fields, they aren't there. I know this. It's where I came from."

13. (Neji's note/ Miguel leaves Havenna. On his departure, he tells Rukiora one final lie. He returns to his homeland and begins sowing seeds.)

Thanks again for your submission, you are a peach! No worries at all, this blog mainly discusses the TV show rather than the book either way. And besides, F&B can be interpreted in many different ways, no one can be absolutely right or wrong in their opinion!

1. I agree that Alicent sacrifices a lot. And it is up to her that she is with Cole after Viserys dies bcs she is a free woman now. Even if there is adultery during the marriage, i dont really care. But i still think that she is a hypocrite bcs she approached Viserys behind Rhaenyra’s back and never told Rhaenyra but she expects Rhaenyra to always tell her the truth. Yes, she was used by Otto but still she is not truthful to Rhaenyra so how she expects Rhaenyra to be truthful to her.

This is actually such an interesting take that I never dwelled much upon! Huh, now that you mention it, it does leave a bad taste that Alicent never told Rhaenyra about her interactions with Viserys. However, I do not exactly believe that these two situations are equal. Alicent was forced by her father to go and visit Viserys against her will and Viserys himself commanded her to not share their conversations with Rhaenyra (a typical thing abusers do). What’s more is that the nature of their relationship with Viserys wasn’t explicit or even romantic! She was just a girl being nice to him! Even Alicent herself was shocked when Viserys announced he intends to marry her. It was difficult for Alicent, who was lost in her misery, to tell her also miserable friend that their fathers are abusing her, especially after the king himself forbade her to do so. And Rhaenyra showed no understanding to her situation, especially since all of that happened against Alicent’s will. Rhaenyra, on the other hand, was responsible for her own actions and concealing the truth from the girl who spent years of her life trying to apologise for what happened to her and tried her best to help her, would make anyone in Alicent’s shoes feel betrayed, me thinks.

2. I understand that Cole is very disappointed with Rhaenyra for turning his proposal down and thus siding with Alicent. I was thinking that he wants to keep his honor and seek redemption by doing his duty with honor. But then he is with Alicent, which keeps me wondering. My guess is probably that they both have the same enemy and can share the same feelings. Alicent ofcourse cant hate/complaint abt Rhaenyra to Viserys so probably she pours down her frustation to Cole and then they develop feelings to each other.

I think there’s more to Criston’s hatred towards Rhaenyra than her turning down his proposal. If you rewatch the scene, as I recently did, you’d see that Rhaenyra is awfully cruel to him. She speaks at him angrily and diminishes him. She calls him not worthy enough for her and rubs salt in his wounds by flaunting how much of a perfect husband Laenor is going to be. And the ultimate blow is that she finishes by telling him “We can still fuck tho!”. That’s such a fuckboy behaviour. She doesn’t respond when Criston desperately holds her accountable for what she did to him, how much he put on the line for her. What he did with Rhaenyra is punishable by death or castration. People need to remember what happened to princess Saera’s lovers! And to top it all off, he finds out Rhaenyra’s husband’s boyfriend knows all about it and threatens his life! He switches sides and becomes loyal to Alicent because she is the only one to show him some sympathy and mercy. I think their relationship is much deeper than people make it out to be. Coming close due to trauma and common experiences is a very strong bond. I never liked the jokes about how Alicent and Cole are together solely because of their mutual hatred/ yearning/ whatever for Rhaenyra, their literal abuser (at least from their side of the story). It removes the agency from two broken, abused SA victims and it disturbs me a lot. They experience how the Targaryens mistreat one another first hand. And, in Criston’s eyes, he has already lost his honour and feels like he’ll never be able to atone for his sins, as he says in this season. It’s kinda cruel to demand that he keeps the celibacy oath he gave to the Targaryens, who literally used him for sex, if not abused him.

3. For me, Rhaenyra’s bastards are the same like Cersei’s bastards. Cersei sacrifies her life to become Robert’s queen so that she can give throne to her kids and Robert does not care who will be the next king since he is too heartbroken to care whatever happens after he dies. Same like Rhaenyra. I guess Laenor doesnt care whose children are they since he cant give any children but he needs someone to continue his name/legacy. And the fact that Rhaenys and Corlys do not question the bastardy, i think they also feel the same thing.

I think I might be able to provide some insight on this, as a book reader! Cersei specifically doesn’t really sacrifice anything to become Robert’s Queen. The position is open handedly given to her in exchange for her father financially supporting Robert. In fact, Cersei has never willingly sacrificed anything in her life. She simply refuses to do so because she grew up very spoiled and entitled. Cersei was excited to marry Robert at first, until she realised that he’ll always be in love with Lyanna. If we’re to take Cersei’s word for it, she and Robert did have a son that died young and Robert was immensely heartbroken and angry over his death. Robert very much cares about who inherits the throne after him, that’s why his dying act as a king is to make sure his son (who he thinks is his) becomes king after him. Things would be very different had he known the truth. At the same time, even if Robert, Corlys, Viserys and any other lord did not care about who inherits their titles, this doesn’t change the fact that there are still laws that protect the rightful heirs from getting robbed off of their inheritance! Imagine if your brother, who practically has no heirs of his own, was the current holder of your family’s ancestral house which he did not himself build, and instead of leaving it to you, his blood, he was okay with the house getting passed on to a person that has no connection with your family. That wouldn’t be fair to you, would it? The ruling titles of House Velaryon and House Targaryen are not personal properties of Viserys and Corlys just because they happen to be their current holders. The titles have existed long before them. Vaemond Velaryon getting passed over, especially after he shed blood and money for his house in the Stepstone’s war, was an absolute disgrace. Sure, Viserys might have been justified in a way to change the law and allow his daughter to inherit the title because that’s still his blood, even if it was unfair to Aegon and Aemond according to tradition, but Corlys and Rhaenys had absolutely no right to humiliate Vaemond like that.

4. My understanding is that in the book both Rhaenyra and Alicent want the throne and the issue is abt female vs male heir, thus Rhaenys keep supporting Rhaenyra despite whatever. But the show cant make it abt female vs male heir since it will not sell in 2024. In the show, the main reason is misunderstanding since even Rhaenyra in season 1 is shown to not really want the throne but just to honor his father’s wish. Which is very weird since in GOT, many female character blatantly said they want the iron throne or become the queen.

I see what you’re trying to say! Yup, it’s absolutely true that the show doesn’t know what they’re doing with the storyline anymore. At first Rhaenyra doesn’t want to be queen. Then she does. Then she does even more. Then she is not certain. Book!Rhaenyra was much more adamant about sitting the throne at all costs. The TV show has removed the agency of all its female characters. If you take a closer look, you’d see that all the female characters are saints that compete for the Nobel Peace Prize. Alicent, Rhaenyra, Rhaenya, Mysaria, Alys Rivers: they all care about the well being of the people first and foremost and their own aspirations come second! On the other hand, the men, Daemon, Aegon, Aemond, Jace, Criston, are quick to go to war and give no fucks about the aftermath of it! Ryan Condal, HOTD’s producer, had informed us that this show was going to be a “feminist” retelling of the Dance of the Dragons, the feminism being that all women are good and all men are bad. That’s why it has turned into such a dumpster fire.

We're post 6 - Tara is trying therapy. She would have chickened out even before her first session if it wasn't for Sam and how proud she is that Tara is finally trying. The first few sessions go ok-ish. The guy lets her talk about whatever. She mainly focuses on retelling the events of 6. Only retelling, tho, never diving into her feelings about stuff. He eventually starts asking about Woodsboro. She deflects. She talks about her mom. A bit about her dad. Maybe even about Sam leaving her. It makes her tear up just enough. Therapists love childhood trauma, right? She can give him that. But he keeps pushing. He wants her to talk about THE attack. But she cannot do that. She cannot go anywhere near that night with her thoughts... she just can't. She can't think about it. She definitely can't talk about it. She would have to relive it; she would have to relive it knowing who was behind the attack. Tara erased the night from her memories. And the following weeks, no, months, are a blur, too. But she knows they'll come back to her if she so much as thinks about thinking about that night. She can't do it. But he keeps asking about it. And then he mentions Amber and Tara is out of the office. She doesn't come back. But she also doesn't tell Sam because Sam is still so proud of her! So she lets Sam drop her off at the building once a week, waves at her with a smile, and watchs her drive away. Then she bolts. If Sam insists on picking her up, she'll actually go into the building a few minutes before her time is up, lingering in the entryway. She doesn't want to disappoint Sam. She can't. Cause Sam might leave if she realizes Tara isn't even trying anymore. So Tara will play this game for the rest of her life if she has to. As long as she doesn't have to talk about, you know...

I've been trying to find a response to this for days. I just love what you've said so much, I'm struggling to find a way to add to it, to build on it. I think I'm just going to have to share it instead.

Tara can't confess the truth about Amber, about what they were to each other. She keeps it to herself. She can't confess that there were moments where she saw a glint in her eye, when she was a little too rough, when Amber had made a joke a little too morbid. How can she admit that she could have seen it coming, if she had just put it all together. How could anyone look at her with pride and affection and love ever again, if they know she could have stopped it, prevented it.

Sometimes she thinks if she'd just died that first night, then maybe nobody else would have been killed. Maybe Sam would have been fine. She would never have come back to Woodsboro, she only came back because Tara was still alive, she would never have put herself in danger. She would be living her life back in Modesto, not stuck here in New York babysitting Tara and being hated by the public. Tara will stare at the mirror and take in her scars, rub her thumb against her palm, stand on her weak leg, and wish she hadn't fought back quite so hard. The days she wakes up in pain feel deserved, like a punishment, for letting Amber do this to her, to them, to Sam.

So Tara can't talk about Amber. She continues to pretend to go to therapy, continues to pretend she's fine. She smiles and doesn't drink too much and gets nervous when someone brings up a party, knowing Sam won't like it. She does everything she can to make Sam think she's fine. She doesn't want to lose her. She can't lose her. She has to be fine.

One day, months later, Sam walks her to the building but doesn't leave. Tara fiddles with the door, not wanting to go through with actually entering. Not wanting to face the receptionist who always gives her a sad, knowing smile.

"Tara..." Sam sounds a little sad herself, her name sounds uncertain on her lips, like they've been forced out. "Where do you go?"

The question makes her turn around, confused, a pit forming in her stomach. "What?"

"Where do you go when I drop you off here?"

Sam knows.

A famed serial killer who died by suicide by cop before he had the chance to be arrested. Her uncle manipulated her into thinking revenge was the only solution for shared retribution. Her goal was to kill the arresting fbi agent who killed him. Aaron Hotchner. For years her uncle trained her like a soldier while under the guise of a normal college student. If she showed any weakness (physical or mental) she’d be extremely punished leading her to think emotions themselves were weak and distracting. He worked up as well, becoming an agent out of state through the years even tho he was under hard suspicion after the death of his brother.

Season 1-2: Lilly joins the Bau with elle but before that, her specialty was weapons and a well-trained sniper. Her hatred for hotch was taught and conditioned but seeing him in real life made it hard for her to separate herself from his executioner and his teammate. She and Gideon constantly have arguments and are hella passive-aggressive but only because they share the same stubbornness and impulsiveness in the field. She and Spencer meet and the smile she thought she’d lost forever slowly began to come back. He cracked through her internal wall and with that she began to open to the rest of the team. When elle leaves, lilly had the habit of staring at her desk but was friendly with emily when she arrived. She had a hard time seeing Spencer tortured cause it stirred flashbacks of herself with her uncle. Part of her internal wall came down and she was able to be compassionate to others other than Spencer starting with jj telling her it wasn’t her fault that they split up. She stayed near spencer’s side after, knowing about his addiction and helping him through.

Season 3-4: She’s able to take a huge breath of relief when Gideon leaves and can accept Rossi to the team without hesitation (they kinda seeing more eye to eye than she and Gideon). When Haley divorces hotch she’s able to convince herself that his son will be fine without a father. When Spencer gets exposed to anthrax she exposes herself so that they would suffer together (and make getting the cure faster).

Season 5, 6, 7: when Foyet takes hotch, she fears it was her uncle before revealing the truth of his attack. and after Haley dies, at her funeral lilly abandons her plan to kill hotch becoming too close to him and the team. she could never do that to Jack. she gets rid of any contact she has of her uncle, changing her address, phone number, and car so she wouldn’t be traced by him. It’s also the first time she gets attacked by an unsub. She hasn’t dyed her hair in a while so her hair is naturally red for the first time in a while making her a target for a woman unsub to abduct her during a late-night coffee run and drug her to the point where she’s a life-size doll. When she’s conscious she goes through all the ways she plans to kill her in retaliation but throws that out the window when spencer talks the unsub down and reveals why she’s doing it. When Spencer gets his headaches, she goes with him during the doctor’s appointments and even researches herself the early signs of his mother’s condition. The witch doctor tells her she had the darkest heart he’s ever seen and she seems not disturbed by it but internally she’s anxious about it. After emily dies, she retreats within herself and practices different weapons in her spare time to take her mind off of it, bottling it up and not wanting to deal with the emotions. When it’s revealed that she’s alive, she gets why Spencer’s angry and she also understands why they needed to keep it a secret. In profiling 101, when lilly and the team goes to a college to speak about past killers they’ve caught, hotch mentions lilly’s father but she does her best not to act like there’s something wrong (the team still doesn’t know because there was no father named on her birth certificate).

Season 8: She pays no mind to the replicator attacks but starts to get gifts sent to her house subtlety hinting at the signs of betrayal and gets a coded text that reads ‘times up.’ She starts to put security all over her and Spencer’s apartment (much like when emily did with Doyle), barely sleeping and being on high alert while not at the office. She gets abducted halfway through the season by a medical torturer who breaks her leg and carves her by a scalpel. She refuses to give up her team’s information (especially hotch’s) and doesn’t give him the satisfaction of screaming out. When the team figures out where she’s at, she’s already lost a lot of blood and she’s going in and out of consciousness. She seems to appear too weak to stop her attacker to slice her throat but she gets out of one handcuff and stabs him through the eye before he can finish the slice making her have a noticeable dark scar it. The team learns the truth about her intentions and at the hospital, she offers her gun and badge but hotch refuses and while on painkillers she accidentally calls Rossi dad. She comes back in two months but isn’t able to go in the field until her leg is all the way healed. They figure out the replicator and find out that her uncle is a partner with him. Since lilly was the primary threat to him and protector of the team, she had to be eliminated first, and when that didn’t work he had to up his game. Rossi is drugged and pulls a gun on her, her uncle trying to come between their friendship but they ultimately kill both her uncle and the replicator together. after some time after that, Spencer and lilly get married.

Season 9-10: with her uncle dead, she’s able to put down mental roots like she hasn’t had before and is finally open to the idea of children. She has a near-death experience when she comes earlier than her teammates to save garcia’s ex boyfriend, she’s able to shoot him but not before he sticks a syringe in her neck. Her heart stops but with Spencer’s help she’s able to be brought back. After jj’s tortured, lilly suggests if she needs anything or wants to talk about what she went through lilly’s there for her (which is a huge milestone for her). She’s saddened with spencer when Alex leaves, lilly was so grateful for Spencer to have a maternal figure on the team. Around the start of s10, she’s revealed to be pregnant and gives birth halfway through to a little girl (name tbd). She comes back from maternity leave and her first case back was a cult where she sees parents and children in a different light now that she’s one herself. She barely leaves Spencer’s side when Gideon dies, playing chess with him and Rossi whenever she can.

You expected obstacles to be in your way the moment you decided to go against what had been your routine since you married Naoya.

From your staff, who you were completely sure wouldn’t appreciate the fact you now wished to… close that distance between your husband and you to show your appreciation for his actions, to Junko, who would occasionally burden you with tasks —whether because she wished to enact some kind of “punishment” on you to get her husband off her back, or something else, you didn’t know— leaving you little to no time for anything else.

So, yes. You expected a bit of struggle when doing the complete opposite of what you’ve been doing up until this point.

But you would’ve never imagined it would come from Mai and Maki.

It didn’t relate to Naoya in any shape or form, truth to be told, they really couldn’t care less about him. The reality was much simpler:

Wherever you were, whatever you were doing, it would often, if not always, be in their presence; their big round eyes curiously trailing your work, soft voices wondering what you were doing, for what purpose, and occasionally, if it was something they could help you with.

You didn’t mind it, really, at least not in the beginning since you could see how happy it made them to be in your company.

But there were moments where you wanted nothing but to be in your own solitude, mainly because you’d been looking for the right opportunity to reach out to Naoya… but of course, that couldn’t happen just yet, not while you remained in the company of your staff and the twins.

It led you to wonder just how much of their time they were forced to invest into becoming servants…

But now that you’ve mentioned it, your staff was also becoming an issue of your own, specifically, Mariya.

A sense of caution had grown within the three, however, it was always her who remained the most vigilant of all. On the occasions you’ve spoken to her at the end of the day, in the privacy of your room and away from Hitomi and Haruko, she’d disclose the slight distaste Naoya’s actions brought upon her, believing them to be hiding ulterior motives, and since they’ve been so… out of the blue, it just convinced her furthermore that Naoya wanted something in return, especially after doing something so big, as the rest of the staff would begin to murmur.

You couldn’t deny or agree with her sentiment at this point, because the reason why this started in the first place had been through nothing but wishful thinking, anticipating nothing, hoping to receive even less…

But he went ahead and did them anyway, and now that it had been days since you last saw him, yet to hear anything from him… no one would think Naoya did so because he wanted something in turn. Not even that silly kiss he playfully suggested….

Makes the guilt in your heart for not being able to show him your thanks grow bigger, but what could you do for that?

Thankfully, the person you least expected to intervene, would come to your aid.

It's so them tho???? And yes, I am about to use this as an excuse to do a full lyrical analysis of why it's her.

Hand on the throttle/Thought I caught lightning in a bottle/Oh, but it's gone again

After Gina's murder, Siv thought she'd never find love again. Then, Hailey crashlanded into her life and Siv fell hard and fast. However, when Hailey found out the truth, that they were actually the supervillain that she'd been hunting for months, their shaky rapport fell apart.

And it was written/I got cursed like Eve got bitten/Oh, was it punishment?

Siv sees her powers as a curse. She didn't ask to be the way that they are, and the more "eldritch" side of their powers are absolutely terrifying and near-impossible for them to control. She definitely sees that lack of control as a punishment for their failure to save Gina.

Pad around when I get home/I guess a lesser woman would've lost hope/A greater woman wouldn't beg/But I looked to the sky and said

Siv isn't one to dip into hopelessness. But they are well known for their desperation and loneliness. The fragile line between good and evil that Siv walks is a lonely one, and all she wants is to be known and loved.

Please/I've been on my knees/Change the prophecy

Siv's actually the subject of a prophecy! If you've been sticking around for long enough, you'll know that Morgan Stevens, the previous leader of the Akintola-Stevens coven and Cassandra's uncle, died overdosing on his own magic trying to rewrite the future that he saw- one where the future rests on Siv, who he saw as mentally unstable. When Siv finds out about this prophecy, it's absolutely terrifying- they didn't want this responsibility.

They're legally dead, and therefore broke af. But instead of the money that they could've inherited from Eobard, they'd rather just have someone who wants her for who she is.

Let it once be me/Who do I have to speak to/About if they can redo/The prophecy?

She's never going to admit it, but she wants nothing more than to be normal. If they could go back and keep their powers from ever manifesting, they would. Watching all their friends move on with their lives, falling in love, starting careers, graduating college, etc, while they were denied all those things feels like torment, and she's desperate for just a piece of that for herself.

Cards on the table/Mine play out like fools in a fable, oh/It was sinking in

The "fools in a fable" are Siv and Gina. Gina made her choice to not tell her girlfriend about Eobard's plans, but Siv blames herself for not figuring it out themself. There's almost a mythological metaphor there, some kind of Romeo/Juliet or Orpheus/Eurydice.

Slow is the quicksand/Poison blood from the wound of the pricked hand/Oh, still I dream of him

Switch that "him" to a "her" and we get another Siv/Hailey metaphor. Siv's secrets spoiled all the work that her and Hailey had put into their relationship, which died before it could fully begin.

And I sound like an infant/Feeling like the very last drops of an ink pen

She knows she's pathetic. But they've been surviving for so long without truly living, and it's exhausting.

A greater woman stays cool/But I howl like a wolf at the moon/And I look unstable/Gathered with a coven round a sorceress' table

Siv is... not the most mentally stable person on the planet. For someone who's been through what they've been through, she's actually fairly stable, but at the same time, they're willing to try just about anything to get back the life they had before, no matter how dark that path leads.

A greater woman has faith/But even statues crumble if they're made to wait/I'm so afraid I sealed my fate/No sign of soulmates

Siv doesn't see much of a future ahead for her. As much as she's fighting for a world where she can actually feel happy, safe, and loved, they know that if they keep on the path they're on, either their thirst for revenge is going to overtake them and her and Eobard are going to continue chasing each other until they're both dead, or she'll lose herself completely to her rage and grief. Either way, the path ends with the death of the self.

Borderline Personality Disorder, baby!!! Siv's a textbook case of it, and as such, she struggles with self-image and emotional regulation, going through episodes of dissociation and deep self-loathing, and they often need help from others to get through that. In those moments, their desperation for external validation (and human companionship in general) really shines through.
