          Joey tried his hardest to close the door softly as he got back into the apartment. He had to close up the shop that night, which left him coming home considerably later than usual. On nights like these, he tried to at least not make a loud entrance, lest he wake Cass ( Kian, the night owl, was sure to be awake anyway ). 

          Even in darkness, the apartment was easy to navigate, and Joey quietly tiptoed his way to his room, making sure to look out for Bones or Bruce. However, his steps stopped short at the figure sleeping across the couch. 

         ��“Yuki?” 

          Under the moonlight filtering in, she was unmistakable. Asleep and peaceful, a sight Joey had never seen, and for once, it occurred to him that there were sides of Yuki he hadn’t gotten the chance to see yet. The joyful Yuki, the studious Yuki, the thinking Yuki--he was familiar with some of her quirks, some of the faces she made, some of things she said. Here, now, she looked closer to serene.

          With a new grin, Joey continued on to his room, coming back shortly with a mound of his blankets and pillows. She couldn’t sleep out here cold and alone, not like this. He began carefully putting the blankets on her, stopping at any shift, any breath from her. Once the pillow was comfortably under her head, he  brushed a bit of her hair from her forehead, his smile soft even though she couldn’t see it. 

          “Sleep well, Yuki.” 

          He definitely liked this side of her too.
