The twins over some ridiculous thing then Jas just can't take it and explodes
this ended up being over 1,000 words what even omg but i hope you like it!
–
Jasmine should’ve known from the minute she got the kids up that morning that today was going to be a day of bickering between Cora and Violet, who lately seemed to be at each other’s throats more often than not. The close 6 year olds were suddenly not so close anymore, and Jasmine and Anthony often find themselves pleading for sanity each night when the girls are finally asleep.
“Lottie, stop it! I want to wear that today!” Jasmine has to take a deep breath when she can hear the twins in their bedroom fighting over their clothes, smirking when Aria giggles at the kitchen table, taking another bite of her cereal.
“You two finish eating breakfast and please don’t fight. I’m going to go straighten out your sisters,” Jasmine looks between her two oldest children when Maddox walks in the room, both nodding as Jasmine makes her way down the hall.
“Cora, no! I put the doll there last night, you can’t just move it!” Lottie runs over to her sister and tries to grab the toy away, Jasmine appearing in the doorway to watch the scene unfold.
“Cora, off of your sister,” Jasmine says calmly, Cora backing off her sister, both of them looking up at their mom. Jasmine doesn’t say a word, instead walking over to the closet full of the twins clothes and picking out two outfits, turning back to the girls.
“Violet, this is your outfit, and Cora, this is your outfit,” Jasmine explains, handing each of them the hanger. “If you can’t behave and pick out outfits without fighting over them, then I’ll pick them out for you like you’re still babies.”
“I don’t want to hear anymore fighting. Change into your clothes for the day and then come eat breakfast. Am I clear?” Jasmine asks, stern with her two youngest. Both girls just nod quickly and walk over to their sides of the room, Jasmine leaving the door cracked on her way back to the kitchen.
The no fighting lasts all of an hour before the girls are back at each other’s throats, and Jasmine’s left wondering how many days are left before summer break is over and the girls are back in school away from each other. In total she breaks up three fights and puts an end to a countless amount of bickering, and as they near later in the afternoon when Anthony plans on being home from his day at work, Jasmine can’t help but snap.
“CORA!” Jasmine hears the screech from Violet from the playroom down the hall, bracing herself for whatever she was going to find as she abandons getting dinner ready, walking down the hall towards the room.
“Lottie, give it back! I had it first!” Cora’s voice is heard much more clearly the closer Jasmine gets, and as she can hear the cries and grunts from the twins, she knows she’s going to walk into a hell zone.
“What on Earth is going on in here?” Jasmine raises her voice as she appears in the doorway, both girls freezing, the dolls they had been fighting over stuck between both of their hands. Jasmine walks over and takes the dolls from the girls hands, throwing them into the bin.
“I have told both of you repeatedly to knock off the fighting, and both of you refuse to listen,” Jasmine says sternly, barely raising her voice. Both girls heads fall to look at their laps, and it takes everything in Jasmine not to lash out her pent up anger at the girls in that moment.
“Cora, go to yours and Violet’s room. Violet, you go sit on the sofa. No TV, no iPads, nothing. Both of you are going to think about what you’ve been told today, and ways that you can get along without fighting about every little thing. Do you understand?” Jasmine asks, both girls nodding.
“Yes, Mama,” Both girls whisper, standing up from their spots on the sofa, going to where Jasmine had told them to go.
Anthony walks in the door with Maddox and Aria in tow, picking them up from camp and a friends house respectively. Both kids go to their rooms to change and set their things down from the day, Anthony leaning down to kiss Jasmine’s lips.
“Why is Violet sitting on the sofa without the TV on? And where is Cora?” Anthony asks, setting his things down on the counter, immediately washing his hands so he can help with dinner.
“Their fighting is going to drive me insane today. From the minute they woke up they’ve been at each other’s throats, and I finally raised my voice at them and sent them to time out for the last few minutes so I could clear my head.”
“Who’s instigated it?” Anthony asks, feeling awful that Jasmine had gone through all of this alone.
“They took turns! So at least they know how to do that. Honestly, how many weeks until school is back?” Jasmine asks, Anthony laughing as he kisses her forehead, moving past her.
“I’ll go talk to both of them, see if I can get to the bottom of it,” He promises, Jasmine thanking him quietly as he watches her grab Violet from the sofa, holding her hand as they walk towards her bedroom to meet up with Cora.
Jasmine is given an apology from both girls when Anthony’s done talking to them, and the bickering stops for the night. Jasmine is grateful that Anthony’s words seem to have an effect on them, and while it’s only a few hours of peace within a very tough day, it’s a few hours that she’ll take, grateful that at least bedtime came without drama.
Jasmine and Anthony had both gone into this parenting journey with twins with an open mind, understanding that things would be different than they were with Aria and Maddox. And while Jasmine isn’t sure she’s going to make it out of this phase alive, she has hope that this is the start of it all ending, more than ready to have her happy, non-fighting little girls back in their family.
