First, yeah, the DNC have spent the last few decades chasing after people who will never like them, while taking for granted or outright abandoning the folks who need them.
It’s hard to argue against the perception that the Democrats exist to prevent progressive energy from disrupting business as usual.
So I get your rage, my comrade, but I think you’re missing the point of what the dude in the quote was saying.
He’s saying he trusted that Trump was speaking his mind, and that Harris seemed to be reading from a script.
He didn’t say that he thought Trump was speaking 'The Truth', or that he agreed with his policies, but that he believed that Trump’s words and ideas were his, and not those of a committee of marketing creeps.
I think what’s most instructive about that article is another quote: “Democrats, another said, are 'not a friend of the working class anymore.'”
I have to agree with that.
Biden walked a picket line, but it turns out he’s not gonna follow through fully on student loan forgiveness.
Pelosi got her congressional chorus to cosplay and take the knee for George Floyd, but what meaningful police reform have they championed since that photo op?
Obama was elected on 'Hope and Change', and then put Geitner and Summers in charge of fixing a problem that they themselves created during the Clinton admin, and their solution was to bail out their friends and let the defrauded masses fall into bankruptcy and foreclosure.
Yeah, “Thanks, Obama” was a racist ( -ish ) dog whistle, but it lingered a bit because it kinda had a point.
And do I even need to detail how the DNC fucked us out of President Bernie Sanders — TWICE!?
So of course a candidate who speaks nothing but DNC talking points is gonna trigger folks 'stranger danger'.
I spent most of my life as a knee-jerk, 'don’t think just vote' Chicago Democrat, until I finally saw that the DNC didn’t actually mean what it said, or follow up on promises made to the 99%.
And if a former party loyalist like me can come to this conclusion, then there are probably a lot of other folks who’ve noticed it as well.
So many of us have lost faith in politics to solve our problems, and a lot of folks — at least enough to sway this last election — have decided that throwing a wrench in the works is the only way they can express any influence over this broken system.
Trump is that monkey wrench. When he promises to smash the system, people believe him. Conservatives believe him. Liberals believe him. Progressives believe him. The rich believe him. The poor believe him.
And Glob help us, in The Year of Our Lord ( Mammon ) 2024, that passes for integrity.
It reminds me of the sound bite that old Slick Willy Clinton his-self gave the media when he threw Al Gore under the bus during the 2000 election ( something he also kinda did to Harris in Detroit this time around; Clinton really doesn’t like V.P.s, does he? ): “People will choose a strong leader who is wrong over a weak leader who is right.”
Harris didn’t convince the dude in the quote that she was speaking with the courage of her “joyful warrior” convictions, and I think that’s a fair point. I don’t think she was either.
I felt she came off very Vice-Presidential, very safe and corporate and triangulating. And in this time of spiraling crises, her safe and corporate and triangulating approach didn’t inspire the nation as much as Trump’s bold, disruptive, batshit-crazy promise to tear down the pig system.
I see the appeal: “You and I are fucked no matter what, but maybe Trump can take down some of piggies at the top.” I don’t believe this strategy will work out in our favor, but I grok spite.
Shit, man, “…from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee” may as well have been Trump’s campaign slogan.
Anyways, I’m well past my 500 allotted words here, so I’ll wrap this up by saying that if the Democrat wing of the neoliberal party wants to win elections post-Trump, they need to sell authenticity as well as Clinton or Obama — or Trump — did.
Personally, I think Pete Buttigieg has that vibe, but we shall see.
“An Arizona man, citing the time Harris said, “you better thank a union member,” during a speech in Detroit, said “that was very disingenuous to me because I didn’t see an honest person that could be president.” “It seemed like a lot of what she came out and said wasn’t really off-the-cuff, wasn’t coming from her,” said another man who voted for Biden in 2020 and Trump in 2024. “Seemed like every interview, every time she came out and talked about something, it was planned out and never her thoughts, didn’t seem genuine to her thoughts, whereas, Trump, even though you never really knew what he was going to say, when he was going to say it, it was always him and genuine to what he thought, so that’s what swayed me.””
New research shows the massive hole Dems are in
I mean … I don’t know how anyone worth electing is going to reach someone like this guy who basically says he’d rather vote for someone who rambles incoherently, with a clear track record of violence and corruption, because he didn’t like the way the scary Black lady talked.
Why is this guy even in this article? This guy is a lost cause. This guy is not the Democrats fault. This guy is a stupid fucking idiot who shouldn’t be allowed to be alone in any room with a sharp object.
And this is the guy the Democrats are going to throw the trans community under the bus for, the guy who says he didn’t like how prepared and articulate Kamala Harris was when she expressed her positions, when what we all know is that he didn’t like that she was a Black woman.
THAT is the real disgrace and failure of the party: chasing this guy at the expense of ten people who want to vote for them, because they listen to dipshit consultants who have lost all but two consequential elections for the last twenty years.

Fenton Crime Family
-Wayne Manor, Gotham-
Stephanie: So no one is gonna ask why Cass has been out so much lately? Alone too.
Duke: Didn't she say she is going out to meet a friend?
Stephanie: Yeah, but no one knows where she goes. We don't know who she goes out with nor do we know where she goes.
Tim: Just say that you are jealous that Cass is going out without you. No will make fun of you.
Jason & Duke: That's a lie.
Tim: Yeah, that's a lie. I would totally make fun of you.
Stephanie: Shut up nerd. Don't pretend you are not jealous when Bernard or Conner says that they are hanging out with someone else.
Tim: Woah there. Jason is the nerd one. If you want to insult me, at least use the correct one.
Jason: I want to be mad but you're not wrong.
Damian: Tt, why should we bother who Cain goes out with? It is her choice who she wishes to be her companion.
Stephanie: But aren't you curious even a little bit? Who is the person? Where do they go? Are they friends or something more? There are so many questions and yet so little answer.
Bruce: We should give Cass some room for herself. Letting her form a relationship outside of this household is also good.
Everyone: *Stares at Bruce*
Jason: I think the old man is being mind controlled. Let me punch him to wake him up.
Dick: Are you sick, B? Do you want to go to Dr. Leslie? I can take over your patrol tonight if you are not feeling well.
Damian: I also agree with Todd. Father might be compromised right now. Let's take him down.
Tim: Wait wait. Do you have anything to say before we jump you Bruce?
Bruce: *Grunts* I went to meet the therapist that Jason recommended to me. Dr. Fenton says that I should give my children room to grow independently so that I can take the first step in treating my paranoia.
Jason: *Gasp* You actually went to meet the therapist. Fuck.
Stephanie: He he he, where is my 50 bucks? I told you he would go if you recommend it.
Jason: *Grumble while handing out 50 bucks*
Duke: So that's where you are going. I thought you were going on a date.
Bruce: I am too old for dating anymore.
Dick: Yeah, right. Tell that to me when you go meet Selina later tonight.
Bruce: *Grunts*
Alfred: *Walks in* I am here to inform that Miss Cassandra has returned.
Dick: She's not gonna eat lunch?
Alfred: Miss Cassandra has informed me that she has eaten outside with her friend.
Jason: Did you see who her friend is? Is it a boy or a girl? Please tell me it's a boy.
Alfred: I'm afraid I cannot tell you anything as per my agreement with Miss Cassandra. What I can tell you though is that she is very happy to meet her friend. I suggest all of you don't disturb her happiness.
Stephanie: What? Boooo. I want answers. Timothy I choose you. Go find the answer using your stalker skills.
Tim: I would rather not anger her after what she did last time. All of my coffee mugs are still stuck on the table.
Duke: *Scoffs* You would probably go behind her back to find this friend anyway. You're just saying it in case Cass heard us.
Tim: I shall not confirm nor deny the accusation.
-Upstairs-
Cass lays on her bed after changing her clothes. It's been so long since she saw Danny. If not for the coincidental encounter at the stores, she wouldn't have known that Danny is in Gotham. After the first encounter, they exchanged phone numbers and talks and even met up often. Today is their first official date as a girlfriend/boyfriend.
Cass takes her phone to text Danny that she has reached home safely when she suddenly remembers something. She opens her gallery and puts the photos of her and Danny in a secure secret folder so that no one can find it.
While doing that, a text comes through.
Danny 💕💓💕
Danny: Hey Cass, are you home yet?
Cass: Yes. I just got home.
Danny: Thanks for the date today
Cass: 💖💖
Cass: Are you home yet?
Danny: Almost
Danny: Sorry gotta go. My sister is calling.
Cass: Get home fast. Love you 😘
Danny: I love you too 💖
Cass puts the phone on the bed and closes her eyes. Soon, she falls asleep and dreams of living in a large house with a lot of children running around.
-The Bowery, Gotham-
A young skinny man with black hair and blue eyes is walking down the quite alley slowly. He looks around him as the people of the Bowery look almost respectful but certainly fearful to him.
He sighs and leaves the sprawled bodies on the ground. They wouldn't die. He makes sure of that. A huge man comes within his proximity when suddenly the man bows down to him.
????: We are sorry, sir. These people are a new gang in the rise from the east. We get the news too late to send people to dispose of them.
Danny: Chill out, Jeff. Just take them to Dani and let her handle it. Also, tell her to return before dinner or else Jazz will come for her.
Jeff: Yes, sir.
The man along with a few of his henchmen pick the bodies and move them to somewhere else. To be honest, Jazz and Danny still don't know how to feel that their little sister is officially a crime lord.
All of them moved last month since Jazz gets her job at Arkham Asylum and Danny gets his internship at Wayne Enterprise. Dani tags along since she has explored all the places she wants to visit and she doesn't know what else to do.
Well that also didn't last long, as the first day they arrived at Gotham, Dani goes to beat up all the gang and goons in The Bowery and round them up into one single group. It's certainly easier that all the rouges are in Arkham right now.
One time the Falcon crime family tried to threaten Dani by taking Danny and Jazz hostage. In the end, Falcon and other crime families agree to stay out of The Bowery after Danny freezes all of their building and Dani strikes them with lightning multiple times.
Danny arrives home and sits on the couch. He scrolls Twitter while waiting for his sisters to return when the news catches his eyes.
Breakout at Arkham Asylum
All the people of Gotham are suggested to stay inside tonight.
Danny looks at the news with concern. Usually a breakout at Arkham happens a lot later in the day. He stands up, picks a leather jacket and a mask and then transforms into Phantom. He wears the mask and the jacket and flies towards Arkham Asylum to check out what happened. Today is Saturday so Jazz isn't working so he doesn't worry that much about Jazz.
On his way to Arkham, he encounters some rouge like The Riddler and Scarecrow. He knocks them out and hangs them on a poll and continues flying towards it. He's not a hero anymore but if the rogues are to enter and cause havoc in The Bowery, neither him, Jazz nor Ellie will be happy.
Suddenly, he sees a clown car speeding through the road at a very fast speed. Danny looks at it and sees the Joker along with his few goons are making a getaway while being chased down by a few cop cars. Danny flies down towards the clown car, and slowly unscrews the tyres of the car.
Danny flies back a little bit to the back and the clown car starts to wiggle and waggle and suddenly all of the tyres come off the car. Danny can hear the clown cursing heavily until finally they crash into a poll.He flies back down and just to make sure he is permanently down or at least down for some time, snap his back bone to incapacitate him.
Danny, still invisible, flies back up and continues on his way to Arkham. He meets a few more escapees like Mr. Freeze, Firefly and Killer Croc. Except for Killer Croc, all the other rouges are beaten up and sent back to Arkham. Killer Croc or Waylon is not thinking of causing trouble. He just wants to return to the sewer cause it is his home. Danny plans to maybe offer Waylon employment in their gang if he feels like Waylon is stable enough to work. Meanwhile, he will go around the city and beat up rogues that he is pretty sure is not going out to have a tea party.
When Danny lands on the roof, he opens his phone to see Cass is warning him to stay at home and not go outside. He smiles wryly since he is already outside and is beating up the rouges. Danny replies with a thumbs up and is about to continue flying when a shadow jumps out from behind him.
Danny: Uh, hello? How are you?
???: *Stares*
Danny: I'm no trouble. Just on the lookout just in case there is a rouge nearby. I see some guy beat up Scarecrow and The Riddler on my way here. They are not so scary when they don't have anything to use you know.
???: Where?
Danny: Errr, I think it is right over there. I was coming from that direction so you would probably see them if you go this way.
???: Thank you.
The shadow then vanishes and Danny is left standing there. The shadow really reminded him of Cass for some reason. Looking up online, apparently that one is called Black Bat.
Danny: Huh, they are out early today then. I guess they can work during the day.
Danny then turns invisible and returns back to the Bowery because most of the notorious rogues have been captured and Danny isn't worried about the rest.

MAX VERSTAPPEN MASTERLIST | MAIN MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Max Verstappen wasn’t sure when the ache in his chest had become a constant companion, a dull, hollow reminder of all he wanted but could never have. Maybe it had always been there, buried beneath the layers of fame, pressure, and expectation. Or maybe it had grown over time, with every laugh that escaped Y/n’s lips, with every soft touch of her hand on his arm, with every time she smiled at him like he was her whole world.
He didn’t deserve her. He never had.
Yet, she was always there, unwavering in her support, her loyalty, her love—though she would never admit it. Y/n wasn’t just his best friend. She was his home, the only person who saw every crack in his armor and stayed anyway.
Max leaned back against the couch, his head resting on her lap as her fingers combed gently through his hair. Her touch was soothing, her presence grounding him in a way no one else could. The silence between them wasn’t awkward; it was familiar, comforting. It was the kind of quiet that reminded him he wasn’t alone.
But even now, even with her hand softly stroking his head and her scent surrounding him, guilt gnawed at the edges of his mind.
He’d had a terrible race—another mechanical failure, another DNF that left him simmering with frustration. When he’d finally returned to his hotel room, all he wanted was her. Not Kelly, who was waiting for him back in Monaco with Penelope, but Y/n. It wasn’t right, and he knew it, but Y/n was the only one who could put him back together when he felt like he was falling apart.
“I came as soon as I could,” she whispered, her voice soft and laced with worry.
She always did.
It didn’t matter where in the world he was. It didn’t matter what she had going on. If he needed her, she came. She’d dropped everything to be here tonight, flying across time zones and leaving behind her own life to hold him in her arms.
Max closed his eyes, breathing her in. He could feel the tension in her body as she sat rigid beneath him, her free hand resting lightly on his shoulder. She was worried about him—she always worried about him.
“You didn’t have to come,” he murmured, though they both knew it was a lie. He didn’t know how to survive these nights without her anymore.
“Don’t be stupid,” she replied, her voice soft but firm. “Of course I had to come. You’re—” She paused, swallowing hard. “You’re my best friend.”
Max’s eyes fluttered open as her hand stilled in his hair. He shifted slightly, pressing his face into her neck, seeking the comfort he couldn’t find anywhere else.
Her skin was warm against his cheek, her pulse steady and reassuring. He felt safe here, in her arms, in her presence. But the safety came with a tinge of guilt, a bitter reminder that this wasn’t where he should be.
But Kelly didn’t understand.
Max could see it in the way her lips pressed together whenever Y/n’s name came up, the way her smile tightened whenever Y/n walked into the room. She never said anything outright, but the tension was there, simmering beneath the surface.
It didn’t matter.
Max knew where his loyalty lay. Y/n had been there long before Kelly, long before anyone. She was the reason he kept going some days, the only person who truly understood the toll this life took on him. Kelly might not like it, but even she couldn’t deny it—Max needed Y/n in a way he would never need anyone else.
He tried to make it work with Kelly, for Penelope’s sake if nothing else. He liked Kelly—she was kind and understanding in her own way, and he adored Penelope. But it wasn’t the same. It never could be.
Kelly had confronted him about it once, in the early days of their relationship.
“She loves you,” she had said, her voice calm but cutting.
Max had frozen, unsure how to respond. He didn’t deny it. How could he? Y/n’s love was written in every small thing she did for him, in every sacrifice she made, in every time she dropped everything to be by his side.
“And you love her,” Kelly had continued, her eyes hard but resigned.
He didn’t deny that, either.
But Kelly had never brought it up again. She knew better.
Because as much as she hated it, as much as it hurt her, she knew that if something happened Max would always choose Y/n.
Max shifted on the couch, his voice breaking the silence. “Do you ever think about what it would be like? If things were different?”
Y/n’s hand stilled in his hair, her fingers hovering for a moment before resuming their gentle strokes.
“Different how?” she asked softly, her voice careful, cautious.
Max hesitated, his heart pounding. He didn’t know why he had said it, why he was opening this door. But the words were out now, and there was no taking them back.
“Us,” he said quietly. “If we were...different.”
Y/n was silent for a long time, and Max felt his chest tighten, the weight of her unspoken words pressing down on him.
“Don’t,” she whispered finally, her voice trembling. “Don’t say things like that, Max.”
He remembered the first time she had cried in front of him. They had been teenagers, sitting in his room after a long day.
“No one likes me,” she had said, her voice thick with tears. “I’m ugly, and I’m boring, and no one wants to be with me.”
Max had been furious—not at her, but at the world for making her feel this way. He had held her as she cried, whispering reassurances into her hair.
“You’re beautiful,” he had told her, his voice firm. “And anyone who doesn’t see that is an idiot.”
She had sniffled, pulling back to look at him with watery eyes. “You’re just saying that.”
“I’m not,” he had said, his hands on her shoulders. “You’re amazing, Y/n. And if some guy doesn’t see that, then he’s not worth your time.”
He meant it. He always had.
But Max couldn’t help but feel guilty. After all, it was his fault she was crying in the first place.
He knew he had chased away every boy who had shown an interest in her. He hadn’t meant to, not at first. But the thought of her with someone else, of her giving her heart to someone who wasn’t him, was unbearable.
So he had intervened, subtly at first, then more overtly as time went on. He didn’t regret it, even when she cried on his shoulder, wondering why no one stayed.
He couldn’t tell her the truth, couldn’t admit that he was the reason.
Because Max Verstappen was a selfish man. And he couldn’t let a bit of guilt stop him from protecting her.
Max’s fists clenched as he watched Y/n laugh with the guy at the bar. Her smile was radiant, and for a moment, Max forgot how to breathe.
Then the guy leaned closer, and Max saw red.
“You okay?” Y/n asked when Max stalked over, her brows knitting in concern.
“Fine,” he said tightly, his gaze flicking to the guy. “Who’s this?”
The guy opened his mouth to respond, but Max cut him off. “You should go.”
“Max!” Y/n hissed, her eyes widening.
The guy frowned but quickly walked away, muttering something under his breath.
“What the hell was that?” Y/n demanded, crossing her arms.
“He was bothering you,” Max said, his jaw clenching.
“He wasn’t bothering me,” she snapped. “He was nice. And now he thinks I’m some helpless girl with an overprotective brother.”
Max flinched at the word brother. “I was just looking out for you.”
“I don’t need you to scare off every guy I talk to!” she said, her voice rising.
Max looked away, guilt twisting in his stomach. “I’m sorry,” he muttered.
Y/n sighed, her expression softening. “Just...let me handle it next time, okay?”
“Okay,” he said quietly, though he knew there wouldn’t be a next time.
Because no one would ever be good enough for her.
Max remembered the night he realized he was in love with her.
They had been eighteen, sitting on the hood of his car under a blanket of stars. It was one of the rare nights he wasn’t on the road, and she had insisted on taking him out to the middle of nowhere to remind him what quiet felt like.
“Do you ever think about the future?” she had asked, her voice soft and wistful.
“Sometimes,” he had admitted, though the future was always a blur to him—races, championships, the never-ending grind.
“I think about it all the time,” she had said, her eyes shining as she looked at the sky. “Where we’ll be, what we’ll be doing...if we’ll still be here together.”
“Of course we will,” he had said without hesitation.
She had smiled then, the kind of smile that made his heart ache, and he realized in that moment that he wanted to see that smile every day for the rest of his life.
But he had been too afraid to say anything, too afraid to ruin what they had. And as the years passed, that fear only grew.
Max didn’t deserve her, but that didn’t stop him from wanting her.
He wanted her laugh, her touch, her presence in every corner of his life. He wanted to wake up to her sleepy smile and fall asleep with her head on his chest. He wanted to tell her how much she meant to him, how much he loved her, how he would give anything to be the man she deserved.
But he couldn’t.
Because she deserved better.
And so he kept his feelings locked away, hidden beneath layers of unspoken words and longing glances.
There were moments when he thought about what it would be like to be with her, really be with her.
He thought about holding her hand in public, about introducing her as his girlfriend instead of his best friend. He thought about what it would be like to kiss her, to wake up beside her, to call her his.
But then the doubts crept in, the fear that he would ruin her, that his demons would drag her down with him.
She was too good for him, too pure, too kind. Those thoughts were dangerous, and Max knew better than to indulge them.
Max shifted on the couch, pulling back to look at her.
“Thank you,” he said softly, his voice rough with emotion.
She frowned, tilting her head. “For what?”
“For everything,” he said, his eyes searching hers. “For always being here. For putting up with me. For...everything.”
She smiled, and it was like the sun breaking through the clouds. “You don’t have to thank me, Max. You know I’d do anything for you.”
And that was the problem.
She would do anything for him, and he would let her, even though he knew he didn’t deserve it.
Max didn’t sleep that night.
He never could when the weight of his emotions threatened to suffocate him, and tonight, it felt heavier than ever. He stayed where he was, his shoulder stiff but unwilling to move and disturb her peaceful slumber. Y/n deserved her rest—she had flown halfway across the world just for him. She always did.
The next morning, Y/n was awake before him, bustling quietly around the small hotel room. Max cracked his eyes open, watching her from where he lay. She had always been a morning person, though he didn’t know how she managed it after such long flights and sleepless nights.
“Good morning,” she said softly, noticing his gaze.
Her voice was warm, soothing, and it wrapped around him like a blanket.
“Morning,” he replied, his voice thick with sleep.
Y/n walked over, holding out a cup of coffee. Max took it gratefully, his fingers brushing against hers. The touch was brief but enough to send a spark up his arm, one he tried desperately to ignore.
“Feeling better?” she asked, sitting down beside him.
He nodded, though it was a lie. He felt worse, if anything, but he wouldn’t tell her that. He couldn’t.
“You didn’t have to stay,” he said quietly, staring into his coffee.
“I wanted to,” she replied, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Max turned to look at her, his chest tightening at the sight of her soft smile. She always looked at him like that, like he was the most important person in her world. And maybe he was.
The rest of the day passed in a blur. Max had meetings and obligations, and Y/n trailed behind him, her presence quiet but comforting.
It wasn’t until they returned to his hotel room that evening that the tension in his chest began to ease.
Y/n curled up on the couch, her legs tucked beneath her as she scrolled through her phone. Max sat beside her, close enough that their shoulders touched. He could feel the warmth radiating from her, and it was enough to make his heart ache.
“I should head back tomorrow,” she said after a while, her voice hesitant.
Max’s stomach twisted at the thought. He didn’t want her to leave—not yet, not ever—but he knew he couldn’t ask her to stay.
“Do you have to?” he asked, his voice quieter than he intended.
Y/n turned to look at him, her eyes soft. “I’ve been gone from work too long already, Max. I can’t keep disappearing every time you need me.”
The words weren’t meant to hurt, but they did.
“I know,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “But I’ll miss you.”
Her expression softened further, and she reached out, her hand resting gently on his. “I’ll miss you too.”
Max didn’t want to let her go, but the next morning, he found himself standing in the lobby, watching as she prepared to leave.
“Call me if you need anything,” she said, her voice firm. “I mean it, Max.”
“I will,” he promised, though they both knew he hated calling her. He hated being a burden, hated pulling her away from her life.
She hugged him tightly, her arms wrapped around his neck. Max held her just as tightly, his hands resting on her back.
“Take care of yourself, okay?” she whispered.
He nodded, though he wasn’t sure he knew how to without her.
Back in Monaco, Kelly was waiting for him. She greeted him with a kiss, and Penelope ran into his arms, her laughter filling the room.
It should have been enough.
And in a way, it was. Max loved Penelope, and he cared for Kelly. But it wasn’t the same. It would never be the same.
That night, as he lay in bed beside Kelly, his mind wandered to Y/n. He wondered what she was doing, if she was thinking about him the way he was thinking about her.
Kelly shifted beside him, her arm draping over his chest. Max stiffened, guilt washing over him.
He wasn’t a cheater, but sometimes, it felt like he was. Max loved Kelly in his own way, but it wasn’t the kind of love that consumed him. It wasn’t the kind of love that made his chest ache and his heart race.
That kind of love was reserved for Y/n, and he knew it always would be.
As long as she was happy, he would endure the ache.
Because she deserved better than him.
And Max Verstappen would rather break his own heart a thousand times than let anyone break hers.

July 2025 — San Diego, California
My hands are sweating more than they have ever before. I sit in silence in the driver's seat of my jeep, the car parked in the driveway. It’s a beautiful house. Costal, and fucking huge. There’s a four car garage and a driveway so big you could probably park two more cars next to mine.
This car ride was definitely eye opening to say the least. In no world would you ever catch me driving more than 30 minutes let alone two hours to see another woman.
I’d only ever do it for Maraye.
She’s heaven sent, just a completely unbelievable human being, and the second she sent that address I was in that car faster than I could blink.
It was always going to be her.
The sound of my foot bouncing on the car floor echos off the walls and I take that as the cue to go inside, I’ve been sitting here forever. I turn off my engine, sticking the keys in the pocket of my shorts before taking a deep breath.
My feet feel heavy as they drag towards the wooden steps. Cedar fills my nose and calms me down, just enough.
The door swings open before I can even touch the handle.
I’m not sure if I should be pissed that Maraye looks so happy or, well, happy for her. She’s glowing, skin tanner than when I last saw her. Her curls look perfect, shiny and bouncy, perfectly framing her face. She got on these striped shorts that leave too much for my imagination and a USC Trojans cropped shirt. (Remind me to burn that.)
“You didn’t show up.”
I’m instantly taken aback by the immediate comment. My eyebrows furrow and I blink back my confusion.
“I—Huh?”
“My show. I wanted you there and you didn’t come.” She elaborates, crossing her arms over her chest and suddenly I’m losing focus and staring right there.
I can’t help the laugh that escapes my throat, a smile spreads across my face. “That’s what you wanna talk to me ‘bout? Really?”
Maraye frowns, adjusting her position on her foot. I know she’s trying to look upset, and she probably is, but that fucking pout of her lips is the cutest thing I think I’ve ever seen.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t there.” I admit. “But y’know we should prolly talk about something else.” My eyes squint as I look over her body. Just briefly I notice a crack in her demeanor. The sternness of her eyes slips and her lip just barely quivers. It’s like she just now realized that me being here meant talking about it.
We have to. I don’t think I’d be able to go to Indiana, knowing that she’s in the stands without knowing if she hates my guts or not.
Raye sighs, but it comes off more as a deep breath. Her arms drop to her sides and she moves from the doorway, giving just enough room for me to step inside.
She doesn’t say a word, just walking into the house like there’s nothing more to say. But I follow her anyway, looking like a lost puppy and staring at her so hard I damn near forget to lock the door.
This house is way bigger than I thought it would be, I swear I walked past a game room and a gym within three seconds of one another. It has an older style, hardwood floors and cream carpets. The lighting is dim and aside from the natural light that comes from the windows, the chandeliers from the ceiling illuminate the room with a yellow light.
After what feels like hours of walking, she stops, opening another door and revealing the balcony.
“Your grandma had nice taste. This place is crazy.” I comment, looking slightly shocked. I knew the places in San Diego were nice but goddamn.
Raye lets out a breathy laugh, approaching the outdoor seating area. It’s dark, but the fireplace that glows bright orange and yellow is more than enough for her to see me and for me to see her. She sits down without a word and I do too, right next to her on the off-white colored couch.
I can feel the warmth that radiates off her body, almost hotter than the fire itself. She crosses her legs under her as she sits and the movement of her thighs sends me into orbit.
“I’m not gonna say anything.” She speaks up, looking at me with her tongue trailing over her bottom lip.
I look at her incredulously. “Really? You ain’t gonna say shit?”
Maraye nods slowly. “Last time I saw you, I didn’t let you talk. So I’m lettin’ you talk now, you have the floor.” She gestures to the space in front of us. “I promise.”
“You swear?”
She makes a big show of zipping her lips and tossing the imaginary key behind her and it’s things like that, that make me crazy over her. The theatrics and the laughs, she’s so unapologetically herself around me all the time, even when I piss her off and she wants to put my head on a platter.
“I swear.” She smiles, turning her full attention to me.
I clear my throat, suddenly feeling the pressure of this whole situation on my shoulder again. She’s the only person in the world that without fail makes my head empty. Raye looks at me, and within seconds I’ve lost everything that I’ve been practicing on saying in the car.
“Um. Fuck,” I sigh, shaking my head. “Ion even have a fuckin’ excuse for you. I jus’— I fucked up. Drank too much, saw her, I thought you were with Julian, and I made a big mistake, Raye.”
Hearing Paige say all that, made my throat tighten and my chest get all heavy all over again, the same way it did when I found out everything two weeks ago.
She can’t even look at me as she speaks, and that alone lets me know she’s telling the truth. That she feels bad, maybe even worse than what she says.
“You got every right to be mad at me.” She admits, she takes a breath with every few words. It’s like she’s having a shortcoming just by trying to apologize.
A small part of me is happy to see her all stressed out like this, as if I think she deserves it. But I also fucking hate watching her struggle to get her words together. Normally she’s so confident, it’s the first time I think I’ve ever seen her so unsure of herself.
“I’m so sorry for everything. I always told you that you have a right to be upset or get emotional about things that people say, ‘cause you’re always thinkin’ you don’t get that luxury when you do.” Paige plays with her hands and it’s then when I notice the silver band on her pinky finger. “But as soon as you got mad at me, I told you that you don’t have a right to be mad.”
I nod, remembering it all. The downside of remembering everything is that I had to relive every word that she said to me that day when I woke up and when I went to bed and even in my sleep.
“Paige it’s—”
“Nah, you said I have the floor, right? Swore you weren’t gon’ say shit.” She points at me with one finger, her other pointer finger over her lips. Very obviously telling me to shut up, and I do.
I can’t help but smile at her. I think even now, with her hair in that messy ass bun and the purple star patch on her chin, she’s the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen.
“You got every right in the world to be mad at me, because what I did to you was unforgivable.” Paige finally looks up at me and I think I’m about to drown in those eyes. “I made you cry, Raye. I’d never seen you cry before and I’m never gonna forget that shit. I’m so fuckin’ sorry.”
I sniffle a little at her words. Hearing it from her lips while she looks at me is completely different from over the phone.
I’m actually very glad that I waited this long, because the silence on my end completely aids in making sure I listen. Like actually listening, I’m not thinking of a rebuttal, or a way to defend myself, I’m just listening. Taking it all in.
Paige runs a hand over her chin. I know that action. She does it whenever she’s frustrated, or thinking, I don’t think she’s ever done it before with me; other than when she’s trying to get in my pants. But she does it all the time in her postgame interviews.
“I can’t go this long without speakin’ to you, Raye. You just… you’re so much different than anyone I’ve ever met. You’re fuckin’ special and— I wanna try this. Us.”
It’s certain, the most certain I’ve heard Paige be since she sat down. “If y’ont want that it’s fine too. We can be friends, or even fuckin’ acquaintances, I just— I can’t imagine my life without you in it. You left your mark, permanently.”
My breath hitches. I can’t imagine my life without you in it. She doesn’t even stutter when she says that, and it brings tears to my waterline. I already know I’m falling for every word she says.
I do it because she looks at me like I’ve hung the moon and the stars. Her body is even closer to mine than it was before, I can see every single shift in the blue of her eyes, every ridge of her face, I can point each brown eyelash on her eyes. I’d fall for any and everything she said if it meant I had her here. Close like this.
“You uh, you told me that I don’t know you. And I think you’re wrong.” It takes me aback briefly. I wasn’t expecting it from her, especially not right now. “I know what makes you smile, how to make you laugh, how to get on your nerves.”
I roll my eyes at Paige instantly. So hard that they were probably a few millimeters away from getting stuck in the back of my head.
She laughs, that full, high pitched laugh that I’ve missed so fucking bad. “I mean you got a point. Ion know where your parents are from or your favorite show or how you like your coffee. Or if you even like coffee. Do you? I’m getting distracted.
“—I do like coffee—” I butted in briefly, any attempt to ease her obvious growing anxiety.
“—But I know enough to know that I want you and only you. You’re it for me, Raye. And I swear to God I’ll do right by you if you give me a chance. Teach me how to be your person and I’ll teach you.”
Paige sighs and I let a similar one slip from my lips too.
“Jus’ please. I’m sorry.”
My heart feels heavy with everything she’s just said to me. I know I should forgive her, every bone in my body wants me too.
Then there’s that small part of me that doubts her just a bit. It’s the same part that creates an image of her and that girl almost everyday, the same part that doesn’t allow me to give people second chances.
I don’t even notice the tear that slipped until I’m dropping my head in my hands and I feel it. My palms run across the expanse of my face. “I can talk now?” I tease.
“Yeah, ma. You can.” Paige shakes her head in pure amusement, not even trying to fight off the grin on her face.
“It’s so hard to stay mad at you when you say shit like that.” I groan. “Ion give people second chances, Paige. Y’know that.”
“Technically, you didn’t give me a real first chance ‘cause you had a boyfriend.” She says pointedly, bobbing her hands as if she’s trying to convince me of my options. “Can you forgive me?”
“I don’t know.”
“You wan’ me to get on my knees? I’ll do it, I’ll beg.”
I’m laughing but Paige is completely serious, slipping off the cushion and looking at me expectantly.
“Y’ont have t—”
But she’s already doing it, sinking to her knees below the couch and looking up at me with that damn pout of hers. “—Please, Raye. Gimme another chance, angel. I’ll do anything. Please?”
There’s no one here but me and her, yet the sight of her on her knees is enough to make me burst out in that kind of embarrassed laughter. “Can you get up?” I grit through my teeth.
“Girl, I’m on my knees!” Paige sings horrendously, and I roll my eyes again at her song reference. No way this girl thought she was gonna sing some Lloyd to convince me.
“Shut up and stand up, Madison.” I say again, attempting to pull her up by her biceps that have definitely gotten bigger in these last few weeks.
“Answer me first.”
“Yes, yes okay. I forgive you, just get up!” I giggle, covering my eyes with my palm until I feel the cushion dip beside me. “Oh my God, you’re not real.” I mumble, finally dropping my hand to see how proud she is of herself.
“C’mere.” She instructs with a smile, opening her arms and I waist maybe a second of time before I’m turning and wrapping my arms around her neck.
Her shampoo wafts through the night air and straight to my nose, the cool zipper of her grey tech jacket against my stomach makes me jump a little bit, but she holds me there, tight to her body with her head in my neck.
“I fuckin’ missed you, dude.” Paige inhales. Only she could go from being sappy to calling me dude all in the same breath. It’s so uniquely Paige.
“I missed you too.” I sigh, breathing in her scent again.
I don’t think I want to let go. Because she’s here, hugging me like I could run away at any fucking minute, running her thumb over the open space on my back that my crop top is giving her.
I pull back to gaze at her. That look she used to give me all the time before we even started anything, it’s there. A slight lift of the apples of her cheeks and her pupils dilated like I swore they did back then. Only this time I don’t have to think it, I know it. I see it.
I trail my hands to her cheeks, my thumb over her bottom lip. And then suddenly I’m licking mine and leaning into her.
Except Paige pulls back before we get the chance to touch.
“You don’t wanna kiss me? Really?”
She chuckles, “no I do, trust me. I really really want to. But if I kiss you, I’m gonna wanna do so much more.”
“Oh so know y’ont wanna fuck me? Paige—”
“Damn, shout it from the rooftops then!” Her eyebrows furrow at my sudden vulgarity and she leans towards me more. “Trust, I wanna do a lot of that. I just wanna take you on a date more.” Paige smiles and she looks awfully proud of herself for the cute suggestion.
It is cute. The way her cheeks flush in nervousness. I let the blonde pull me into her lap fully, adjusting me perfectly on her lap. Her hands run distractingly on my thighs, so much so that I almost forget to respond to her.
“Can I take you out on a date?”
I nod almost in a trance.
“You wanna use your words, ma?”
“Uh huh.”
“You do? Y’wanna say yeah?” She’s teasing me, and finding amusement in it too.
“Yes. You can take me out.” I blink, slapping a hand against her shoulder, and then again when I hear that god awful cackle escape her. “You’re so annoying.”
Paige licks her lips, not taking a single second to look away from me as I loll my head down to face her. “Tomorrow night, after the three point? You are still goin’ to Indy, right?”
“I am. That sounds perfect, Paige.” I grin, leaning over to ghost my lips across her cheek.
I can’t help but do it again. Her skin is so soft and warm, a near perfect spot for my lips to meet over and over again until Paige is humming and tossing her head back in an attempt to keep a respectful distance. It’s cute that she doesn’t trust herself this much. Even cuter that I’m doing practically nothing and she’s falling victim to me.
“Ion know if you got the memo, but this is st—ill kissing.” She groans, pushing at my hips.
I grip her chin in my hand, pulling back just enough to turn her head in the other direction and place kisses there. “Mmm no s’not. Our lips ain’t even close.”
And I continue this for a while, my lips on her cheeks, her jaw, ghosting over the corner of her lips in hopes of making her give in to me like she’s done many times before in the past. Paige surprised me though, standing her ground.
When I look back, her bottom lip is wet and swollen. My guess from biting it too many times. She’s breathless, and anyone else would’ve thought I’d just made her finish right here.
“I— I need to get back home. I got a flight at four.” Paige mumbles, darting her tongue over her lips.
I frown. “Fly with me from here, then.”
“My bags are at home, ma. And aren’t you flyin’ out private?” She questions, sending a pinch to my hip.
“Yes… so? I’ll call and reroute from LAX and you can come with me.” I shrug as if it’s that simple, and it probably could be if I call the right people.
Paige smirks that infamous fucking smirk. “Ion do small planes, angel. You know this. S’cute that you wanna be with me that bad, tho.”
I cross my arms over my chest, pouting. “Please, please, please?”
July 2025 — Somewhere over Nevada
I need to find some kind of ground to stand on when It comes to this woman.
My hands clutch my armrests, eyes squeezed shut, and head tossed back.
I’m not scared of heights. Before anyone starts thinking that. I’m scared of tiny ass planes and not enough people on them. It was fine when we were on the ground, but the second the flight attendants were out of view and I had to get strapped in I almost shit myself.
“Paige, you can relax.” I hear Maraye giggle from in front of me, her feet resting in my lap to attempt to ground me. It worked out a little, then she started fucking around and nudging her heel a little too close to my core and all of a sudden I was trying to distract myself from something other than the plane. “P?”
“What?”
The sound of her seat belt clinging cuts through the silence, and then her feet are leaving my body and instead I feel her; all of her. Raye grips my hands, peeling the from the arms of the chair. My eyes shoot open at the contact.
“What the hell are you doin’? Sit down.” I tell her, slightly tripping out over this flight some more.
She gets smart, straddling my lap and sitting on it rather than in her seat. I let out a groan because I know that any other time I’d be all over this shit. Since last night, after I told her I was holding out at least until our date, she’s made a very big show of trying to get me to fold.
First on the drive back to LA, her hand drawing patterns on my free hand, or reaching over to play with my hair. She had perfect hands. Long, slender, fingers with a shade of deep royal purple manicured on her nails. They’re fucking soft too, prefect enough to distract me while I was driving. I couldn’t help but think about how they’d feel inside me. Or circling my clit, feeling my wetness from her alone. That’s how I knew I was in so deep, when I was thinking about Raye fucking me numb just from her touching my hand.
She was talking some crazy shit too, which on any other occasion I’d be willing to handle that. But I was serious. Our relationship wasn’t going to be started on the basis of sex. I wanted to do it right. She slept In my guest bedroom because I knew If we shared a bed we wouldn’t be sleeping. Rather anything but that.
The car ride this morning was similar. Which made me realize she wasn’t doing all this just to prove a point, but because she needed me. When she told me she’d had a dream about me, told me all the details in which that dream entailed, I was about to make her wish come true and get on the floor of the passenger seat and shove my tongue so deep inside her that she saw stars. And I knew she would’ve enjoyed every minute because Raye let me know from her own mouth that she would.
Which made my brief period of celibacy nearly impossible.
She’s also not wearing clothes.
Well, she is, but not really. Her top is tiny, a sliver of fabric that barely covers her tits and shorts that ride up as soon as she gets comfortable on my lap.
“You wanna yell at me like that again?” Raye looks at me crazy, a bite of her lip and a tilt of her head that makes my entire body melt into a puddle in this seat.
“You so freaked out.” I groan, hold her hips in place. “Why the hell did I let you convince me to do this shit.” I wonder aloud trying to avoid looking out the window, noticing the obvious racing of my heart. Except I don’t know if it’s because of the plane of because of her ass pressing up on me. Her hips grinding on mine, her covered cunt dragging across the seam of my shorts.
She shrugs while trailing a finger down the obvious vein in my neck. “I dunno. You could’ve told me no.”
The slight movement pushed her tits even closer to my face and I know I’m about to either pass out or take her right here. Spread her out, rip these tiny ass pieces of fabric off her body, and drive my fingers inside her until she’s falling apart for every crew member of this plane to hear.
“Killin’ me here, ma. Move over a lil bit.” I ask, clutching a hand at her side, stilling her as much as I can and running my thumb over her ribcage. That’s where I finally see it. That damned tattoo that had me reeling on my bedroom floor last night.
John 13:7.
I think it’s the worst time for it to be staring at me, mostly because I’m thinking some very not-so-holy thoughts. She’s testing every bit of my resolve at the moment, I was confident in my ability to hold out, but we have maybe two more hours before landing, and Maraye looks like she’s going to make me work for it the whole time.
Raye catches me staring, and she pushes a stand of hair out of her own face. “You like it?”
I nod wordlessly. Every single part of her is mesmerizing. All the ink, and then that brown of her skin is addicting. Tan lines peeking out of that tube top and up out of the waistband of her shorts.
I dig into my own shorts, pulling my phone out of my pocket before flipping the screen towards her. The same bible quote on my lock screen almost as if it was fate.
She smiles, pressing her hands to my shoulder and laughing breathily. “We're just on the same wavelength, huh?” Raye asks, I’m about to answer when she presses down harder on my lap, testing every single bit of self control I have left with just one simple movement.
“Mmhmm. Same shit, baby.”

FUCKING GOOD POST. THANK YOU.
addendum: 'not caring about [group's] hurt feelings' does not mean '[group] is open season to hurt, and is owed no support, compassion, or understanding for pain that they feel, nor preventing or alleviating that pain.'
it means people do not have the right to hold themselves hostage against you being treated the way you, as a person, have the right to be treated.
a cishet parent might feel deep, genuine confusion and grief over their child coming out as trans. a white woman might feel deep, genuine distress, hurt, and fear over being told she's being racist. an estranged parent might feel like they're being murdered by their child setting boundaries or going no-contact. a partner might become suicidal over being broken up with.
all of these people have hurt feelings, and you do not owe it to them to spare those feelings by letting them walk all over you. you do not owe it to them to feel guilt if you don't, and you should be supported in that. you are allowed to slam the car door on that motherfucker's hand if they try to use it to keep you from escaping or locking them out until help arrives. that is what 'not caring about hurt feelings' means.
and guess what? guess the fuck what? people from privileged groups are not the only ones who do this. they're just more likely to have the direct support of larger systems to get away with it. it is in fact an INFAMOUS thing for queer abusers to use potentially facing harsher consequences than non-queers, or the idea that their victims are traitors making the community look bad if they tell anyone, or the idea that it's queerphobic to criticize or have boundaries against them to begin with, as a shield to get away with it.
i cannot describe to you the utter fucking dread i feel whenever a queer person behaves in a predatory way toward me or the people around me, unless they are in one of a few very specific groups who are in my experience near universally fair game. (holy shit the way people treat allegations toward transmascs, jesus fucking christ, not even beginning to mention QPOC.) and this is because i KNOW people will instantly swarm out of the woodwork to defend the queer abuser/predator tooth and nail, with every single last trick and line in the book to discredit, gaslight, and silence victims, and ultimately publicly tear them to little wet shreds as a queerphobe. this has happened over and over and over and over again with multiple demographics, just in my own experience.
and it's made me feel guilty for exposing my own abuse at the hands of people who are in those fair-game demographics people will happily hunt for sport. i've been abused by misogynistic, fuck-you-got-mine transmascs who blatantly saw me as a woman the moment they were in the same room as me after having medically transitioned themselves, and who leaned into being disgusting pieces of shit toward women and people they perceived as such to validate their own genders. they fell square in the middle of SO many nasty stereotypes about transmascs and i fucking hate that that is hanging over the story of my abuse when i tell it.
(funnily enough: they were both big fans of the attitude talked about above. 🙃)
anyway yeah, the conversation absolutely doesn't end there--for one thing, people like to try to make up excuses for why they're the ones whose rights as a person are being violated by not being allowed to haul someone's arm into the car door to crush it. but it has to start there. and you should be awfully leery of anyone who tries to position a group of people's hands as acceptable to crush in a car door at any time someone happens to feel like it.
genuine question: why is it so hard for people to shift their language from "i hate cishets" to "i hate queerphobes".
same amount of syllables. and then you don't have to sit there and go "well DUH we don't mean 'all' cishets we don't mean the GOOD ones." like you don't have to add an asterisk, here. just say what you mean. like forreal, just... say what you. mean. if you have to CLARIFY that you don't mean a certain part of that group then why are you saying it to begin with? why are you over complicating it and skirting around it like you're scared of making your own point?
are you really that attached to the conflict between queerphobic cishet people and queers that you have to reinforce it from your own side? are you really that attached to needing to hate something that you take it out on people who haven't hurt you. i've been hurt by many, many women- would you excuse me for saying i hate all women because of that? of course not. women can also be abusive, but that doesn't give me the right to hate womanhood.
it is so easy to shift the verbiage and have it actually mean what you say. unless you truly do mean that you hate the concept of cis heterosexuality, then i don't know what to tell you, but we don't do that here in the queer community. we don't hate people for their gender and sexuality. this is not the place for you if you want to shit on people for their identities.

saw this TikTok of a woman capturing her baby’s first steps unintentionally and I can’t help but think of what Nico’s reaction would be if your guys baby just started walking while yall are occupied with something
he would be so devastated
y’all would just be chilling on the couch or something, babygirl hischier playing and bobbling on the floor in front of the two of you while you watch a movie.
you’d have a casual eye on her, making sure she’s okay and not in possession of any choking hazards, but mostly watching the movie. you’d notice her reach for something across the room a few times, but decided you’d get it for her a in a few minutes, needing to go get her a snack soon anyways.
the next thing you notice is movement out of the corner of your eye.
you look over to see her taking her last few steps towards the toy, sitting up and slapping nico’s leg, causing his attention to snap over to her right as she took her last step, flopping down in victory for reaching her toy.
“nico! she just…she just walked! like it was nothing!” you exclaim at him, not believing what you just saw.
he jumps up, going over to where she sits, encouraging her to do it again while you get your phone out, ready to record the milestone.
“c’mon sweet girl, walk to mommy, walk over to mommy for daddy,” he’d softly say, standing her up on her feet just for her to instantly sit back down, reaching for her toy again.
after several failed attempts, she starts to get fussy, letting you and nico know it’s time to let her be for a little bit.
he comes back over and plops down next to you, staring up at the ceiling.
“that’s it. we’re terrible parents. we missed our daughter’s first steps because of an adam sandler movie,” he deadpans up to the ceiling.
“neeks, she’ll walk again, don’t be so dramatic,” you tell him, also a bit dejected that you missed the big moment.
“yeah, but it won’t be her first steps, no matter how many people we lie to on facebook and say that it is,” he doesn’t raise his head up, but looks over at you.
you roll your eyes at him, patting his cheek in consolation right before you hear something drop to the floor.
you both perk up to make sure baby hischier is okay, only to see her standing yet again, having dropped the toy she walked over to get in the first place, and taking a few more unsteady steps to then plop down right in front of a different toy that was out of her reach.
you and nico don’t jump up this time, looking at each other in disbelief.
“okay, she’s just fucking with us now,” nico deadpans, looking over at his happy little girl, babbling away to herself with her newly acquired toy.

Just watched act 1 and I'm actually feral for Sevika. Like omg what?! How is she so hot?! Anyway I've had this idea of sharing a smoke with her. Specially shotgunning. Um. Yeah. Anyway maybe that would turn into something a bit more - NSFW should we say. Definitely biting. You know what I'm talking about lol anyway this isn't a lot to work with I know.. I just saw your post asking for Sevika requests so I figured I'd pop in
Sevika x F!Reader 18+
Her lungs burnt as she inhaled her cigar, watching you fix her arm for the hundredth time this week. Your eyebrows were furrowed in concentration, screwdriver carefully pulling out the broken metal parts in her arm, clinking in the silence.
She could feel your frustration before she even entered your little mechanic shop. People were being more demanding for fixes as Zaun practically relied on prosthetic limbs, and you were rated the best one for the job. Sometimes you felt like a pawn; people didn't even pay that well. You might have to think of increasing the prices...
"You think too much."
You sighed, looking up at your girlfriend who huffed out smoke through her nose. She knew you were busy, and a part of her felt bad last time you stayed late to fix her arm, so she tried really hard to keep it in a manageable state for longer than usual.
Heavy on tried.
"You should learn how to fight." You snapped back playfully, looking back down at the arm for the final few fixes. The arm hissed and popped once, finally being fully functional again. "Even Ran doesn't come in this often. Might have to start charging you."
Sevika scoffed as she watched you stand up to toss your tools onto your very littered desk, your hands coming up to wipe your tired face.
"You're processor is fried. I'll make you a new one soon, but this one should hold up if you can hold off fighting for a few days."
She was listening but all she could focus on is how exhausted your eyes looked. She asked if you were done for the day, if you wanted to go home but you were already backlogged for weeks with new projects and fixes. You politely declined, walking over to her again and taking the cigar from her lips only to put it in your own mouth.
Sevika didn't flinch. It was something you did often, especially on nights where you needed something to keep you awake for a little longer.
Sevika sat on the small couch, looking up at you as you inhaled, smoke escaping your nose before you even got to exhale. She thought for a moment, then grabbed the back on your thighs and pulled you to straddle her.
"'Vika, I need to get-"
"To work. I know." She casually said, taking the cigar from your hands and inhaling deeply herself. Her eyes remained on yours while her hand reached up to grip the back of your neck, pulling you up to her lips.
For a second you thought she was going to kiss you, like she did always in thanks when you fix her up. But instead, she stopped you right before her face, hand now moving to open your mouth with her thumb. Then she exhaled.
You felt dizzy. You had smoked plenty of times, and since meeting Sevika you smoked plenty more. But this was so intoxicating it felt better than any cigarette you've ever tried.
You relaxed on her lap, sinking onto her as you tried to breathe normally. Her mechanic hand held your waist, the other firmly on your jaw to keep it open against her mouth. Just as the smoke began to fade, she pulled you fully against her, lips clashing together in a kiss.
You pulled away only when you felt you couldn't breathe, both of your chests rising and falling as you stared down at Sevika, her pupils blown wide, devouring you.
Work could wait.
You grabbed the cigar back, inhaling so deeply you felt your throat close up momentarily. Still, you leaned down and grabbed her jaw while her hands fell to your hips, gripping tightly to pull you even closer.
You exhaled the smoke as slowly as you could, relishing in the moment for a while before the smoke faded again. You wasted no time in kissing her again, a slight moan escaping your lips and into her mouth. You could taste the smoke in her mouth but it only seemed to rile you up more.
Your hips bucked, unintentionally, and you felt Sevika smirk into the kiss.
"That's all it takes to get you going?" Sevika teased. You replied with a breathy and rushed 'shut up' before going back to her lips, rocking your hips more now she was aware of your intentions. Her grip on you tightened, moving you so that you were straddling one of her thighs.
You really tried to keep your groans in, but the way your clit was grinding against the inside of your jeans. Fuck.
"Fuck. Do it again." You lifted the cigar to her lips, making her inhale it and letting her grab your jaw once more, shot gunning the smoke right into your mouth. You tried to breathe steadily, but her hand made you grind on her thigh more.
"So fucking pretty. Barely touched you and you're gonna cum already?"
You were so fucking close, a whine leaving your lips as you hid your face in the crook of her neck. She could feel the small puffs of air you breathed, trying to maintain some kind of control. Your teeth nipped at her skin, her own composure slowly failing.
You huffed when she accidentally made a sound when you bit into her neck. Your hips stuttered and bucked uncontrollably as you came, lips remaining at her skin until you were stable enough to pull away.
"That's all it takes to get you going?" You teased, mocking her words as angry red marks appeared on her neck. She was flushed and panting, your hips still held by her hands. She smirked, kissing you again before standing up and making you stand on your wobbly legs.
"Home. Now."

Snowglobe
Tumblr media
Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Word Count: ~500
.
You had to hurry to catch up with her. Natasha was halfway down the next street before you’d even left the museum.
‘Wait up.’ You said breathlessly. Natasha stopped in her tracks, turning to you with an easy smile.
‘Where did you go?’ She teased, head tilting familiarly.
You offered out the gift wordlessly.
Natasha stared down at your hands. Her expression filled with surprise, muted shock. A silence followed.
'No. Don’t.’ Natasha said at last, pushing it back towards you.
You laughed unthinkingly, not sensing the tug of something else beneath her words.
‘It’s not that bad.’ You teased, shaking the snowglobe slightly.
Natasha shook her head and you saw the confusion cross her face.
‘It’s not. That’s not -’ She stumbled uncharacteristically on her words. Loose strands of hair escaped her braid; they blew softly in the cold wind.
Your eyes softened as you watched her, as you began to realise.
‘I should have gotten you something better.’ You apologised gently. ‘I just saw it in the gift shop and I wanted you to have it.’
Natasha glanced up at you, eyes piercing with something you didn’t recognise.
‘Why?’ She asked bluntly.
You searched her face, making sure you answered the right question.
‘Because I love you.’ You told her slowly.
Natasha blinked in surprise. She blinked again. You watched her hesitate, watched her try and find the right words. She stared deeply at the snowglobe resting in your open palms.
‘It’s for me?’ She asked at last, voice brimming with something new. Something secretly hopeful.
‘Yes.’ You promised, kissing her quickly. Tears pricked your eyes. You hadn’t realised. This was brand new for her.
.
Pieces clicked together, like some abstract jigsaw.
Every date you went on, she saved the cinema ticket, the admission pass, the receipt.
‘Just making memories.’ She’d told you once with a shrug.
.
‘Like a gift?’ Natasha checked, staring at your hands like they held something momentous.
‘Yes.’ You repeated, trying not to let emotion crack into your voice.
Natasha tore her eyes away from the snowglobe. She looked up at you uncertainly. Her eyes were glistening.
‘What do I do with it?’ She asked in a low voice.
Your heart tugged at the simple question. Your mind burned with the question. Had no-one ever given her one before? You already knew the answer.
You tried to give a casual shrug as you offered the snowglobe out once more.
‘Keep it?’ You suggested, lightly bumping your hip against hers through the thick fabric of her coat.
Natasha’s shy smile grew as she took the gift.
She held it tightly in her gloved hands as you started walking together along the street.
Before you turned the next corner, Natasha slowed her pace and you turned to look at her questioningly.
‘I love you too.’ She said hurriedly, brushing her lips against your cheek. ‘I love you too.’
Natasha’s past made your chest ache. You smiled anyway.
You held open every single door between the street and your apartment.
Natasha’s cheeks glowed with warmth.
She kept the snowglobe clutched tight against her winter coat, smiling like it was her first Christmas.

All I Want For Christmas
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: You fall sick while your mom is away on a mission, what’s worse? It’s Christmas Eve
Request: Blackhill x daughter reader and reader x Kate maybe - reader gets really sick whilst Natasha is away on a mission
Word Count: 1.2k
Warnings: Flu symptoms
—————————————————————————
“Hey kiddo, how you feeling?” Your mom asked as she brought you a new bowl of soup. “Gross” you coughed as you sat up in bed. “Did you get through to mama?” You asked Maria “no sweetie I’m sorry, she’s probably just busy fighting” she said as she helped you to sit up. “I miss her” you whimpered, thinking of the redhead. Unfortunately, Natasha was called away on an urgent mission that was expected to last for at least three weeks. You had gotten sick just after she left and to make things worse, your mama would be gone for Christmas. Thankfully, you had your mom and your best friend Kate there to look after you. “I miss her too baby” Maria frowned “eat your soup and try to get some more sleep okay, Kate can call me if you need me alright” she said as she pushed away your baby hairs. You nodded weakly as the archer brought up a spoonful of soup to your mouth.
It was an hour later while you were sleeping that Kate noticed your sudden short breaths, you could barely breath through your nose. She gently tried to move your head and carefully pry your mouth open to allow more air. Although her touch was light, you woke up in a raging coughing fit. “Sorry baby” Kate cooed as she slowly sat you up, you struggled to suck in a breath and soon began coughing up the mucus from your throat. “Oh y/n, you’re okay, it’s okay” Kate said as she grabbed the trash can “I’m gonna call your mom okay” she sadly smiled. “I want mama” you cried. You loved your mothers just the same but Natasha held the softness that you craved so deeply right now. Maria was the ‘stricter’ parent so you usually went to your mama for comfort and to Maria for the more practical advice to navigate your teenage years. “I know baby” Kate said, trying not to take your words to heart.
Maria arrived at your room in record time “ok I think it’s time to go and see Bruce” she said when she saw your frail body leaning over the trash can. “No” you whined, leaning into your girlfriend’s cooling touch. “She’s right y/n, this isn’t just a cold anymore” Kate said, helping to shift you into your mom’s arms. “Put me down! I don’t want you!” You cried. Maria knew you didn’t really mean it, but she couldn’t help but wish Natasha was here to make you feel better. Your mom got you to Bruce quickly and the doctor concluded that you had a dreadful flu. “I have some antibiotics but I think she needs rest more than anything, try and get lots of fluids in her and make sure she gets some sleep” Bruce said. “I am here you know” you huffed from your chair. “Sorry y/n. You can head back up to your room okay. Hopefully you’ll be feeling a little better for Christmas Day.” You scoffed at his words “fuck Christmas. It’s gonna suck anyway” you said. “Language kid” Maria scolded, making you even more angry than you already were.
You stomped angrily back up to your bedroom, ignoring your girlfriends attempts to sooth you along the way. “What are we gonna do with her?” Maria sighed in defeat when she found the archer in the corridor. “She needs Natasha” Kate said, causing the agent next to her to frown “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that” she said. “It’s okay” Maria sighed again. “I’ll go sit with her, I have some schoolwork to get done” the archer coughed, walking away from the awkward situation she had accidentally created. Maria kept her welling tears at bay as she retreated to her own bedroom, hers and Natasha’s. The brunette sat in her own silence for a while before reaching towards her phone. It was almost deafening as the phone continued to ring, not connecting to the one person she wished to hear from. “Oh where are you baby” Maria said as Natasha’s voicemail came through the speaker. The brunette was about to give up when the familiar ringtone of her phone began to play. She quickly reached for the mobile she had just discarded on the bed “Natasha?” She asked in a hopeful tone.
You went straight to sleep once you got back to your room and considering you were so peaceful when Kate came to check on you, she decided to let you sleep through dinner and to the next morning, through to Christmas Eve. You couldn’t quite tell what time it was when you wake and the grogginess in your head was still present. “Hey gorgeous” Kate smiled as she opened the door, fresh cup of coffee in hand. “Mmm, what time is it?” You questioned as you rubbed at your sore eyes. “It’s just gone 11” your girlfriend said. “Ok, and ugh, what day is it?” You whined “it’s Christmas Eve” Kate said, joining you on the bed with a hidden gingerbread cookie. You rolled your eyes at her festivities “you could’ve just said December 24th ya know” you huffed, groaning when a rough cough caught you off guard. “Oh baby” Kate cooed “Still not feeling great huh?” She asked, you shook your head in agreement. “Is there anything I can do?” She said. “Mommy” you whispered, feeling the tears burning behind your eyes, you were too sick to be embarrassed about how pathetic you felt. “Oh my love, she’s not here baby, remember? Nat’s still away” your girlfriend frowned. “No, I want mom, I want Maria” you sniffled.
Kate scurried away like her hair was on fire and before you could even blink Maria was stood in your doorframe. “Hey kid” she sheepishly said “how are you feeling?” She asked. “Sick” you whimpered, finally letting your tears fall. “Oh sweetie” your mom cooed as she came rushing to your side “it’s okay, I’m here, I’m here alright and I know that you want your mama but I’ve got you for now okay” she said. “No, no mom I’m sorry” you sniffled “I do want you, I just want mama too. I want you both here” you cried, struggling to catch your breath in between the chesty coughs racking your ribs. “I know sweet girl, easy, deep breaths ok” Maria said. “Why did she have to go no of all times” you sobbed “we always have Christmas together, just the three of us” you whimpered, sinking into Maria’s arms. “Well you know what Fury’s like, but never underestimate the power of your mothers” your mom said, nudging you to look up at the door.
“Hey baby girl” a familiar voice said as she stepped into the light. “Mama!” You sobbed, attempting to throw yourself towards the redhead. “Hey, hey, I’m home, it’s okay, I’m home now” Natasha said, rushing to your side and making sure you didn’t use what little energy you had left to get up. “Bu- how- how did you?” You muttered through your tears, while holding on tight to your mama. “I told Fury where to stick his mission” Natasha smiled, pulling you into her embrace. “Won’t he be mad at you?” You asked. “Who cares if he is, my y/n needs me so that’s where I am” Natasha smiled, gently kissing your forehead. “Merry Christmas baby” Maria said wrapping her arms around her girls. “Merry Christmas mom, merry Christmas mama” you said, eyes still shiny with tears, happy tears. Because finally, all was as it should be.

Hi anon! So I wrote this then saw you said pink. Sorry he’s in white lace. I hope that’s okay <3 also if you’re curious I added the reference here.
CW: 18+ !NSFW! Feminization kink
—-
Art grew up with only sisters, spent summers with his Grandma who also happens to be his favorite person. Oddly enough outside of Patrick, he’s always more naturally gravitated towards women. He felt pretty comfortable when chatting with women and they generally felt comfortable around him. Though it often meant that he saw too much or heard too much, and occasionally girls he met would think he was the “gay” friend and they’d undress in front of him or walk around in just a bra and underwear.
Sometimes even after he’d clarify many times that he was very much into women, some of his friends would do it anyway. It could get a bit confusing if he’s honest.
Patrick would tease him with that reductive take, “men and women can’t be friends.” And Art would disagree and then two weeks later one of his “friends” would tell him she was crushing on him. And as sensitive as Art could be, he’s still a red blooded male and he’d end up proving Patrick right.
He’s sitting in the dorm with one of his close friends Kelsey and a few other girls. One who happens to be Patrick’s ex girlfriend Ashley who Art doesnt know that well outside of the fact that she’s not that great of a tennis player. For whatever reason they’re talking about the silliest thing you’ve ever done for a boy. Ashley brings up the time she made her boyfriend try on lingerie at Victoria’s Secret.
Kelsey’s giggling. “You can’t mean Patrick Zweig.”
“Oh I definitely mean Patrick Zweig. And when I tell you it was so hot. Like his cock barely fit in those lacy white panties and he was just so…hard…” she giggles. “I think he liked it. Like a lot. We ended up fucking in the changing room.”
“Oh my god!” Kelsey says and she glances at Art, mouthing sorry. As she often did when girl talk got to be a little too much. Art forces himself to smile hoping he looks nonchalant but his palms are suddenly sweaty and his heart rate has picked up for some reason.
“I couldn’t help myself.” Ashley continues. “I had to fucking buy it all. It was so embarrassing. I just pulled off the tags and brought them to the register so they could ring everything up but it was so obvious to the sales lady what we did.” She says, grinning. “He didn’t care of course. I spent like two hundred bucks gave the whole set to him for his birthday and then he fucking cheated on me with Cali.”
A few minutes later Kelsey points out that Patrick is his roommate and best friend and Ashley giggles awkwardly and starts fidgeting with her curls. “I’m so sorry you had to hear that about your roommate.”
Art mumbles that it’s no big deal and that he knows Patrick can be an asshole so he doesn’t take offense.
But hours later he can’t stop thinking about it. It’s like his mind is stuck. He can’t move on from that story. Patrick tells him just about everything but he’s never told him that. Art is certain he would have remembered lacy white panties.
He’s not sure what’s happening to him but when he gets back to his room he’s relieved to see it’s empty. It’s twelve in the afternoon and he’s touching himself. His head all wrapped up in that story. He tells himself it’s not about Patrick. And so what if his slightly addled brain is imagining Patrick’s tall, lanky form in barely there lace panties. His too big cock just overwhelming the fabric, jet black pubic hair everywhere. Imagines him fucking into Ashley’s pussy while she calls him a good girl. It’s not about Patrick, it’s the lingerie. Art moans as he spills all over his mattress. He collapses on the bed and sighs, “Such a good girl.”
He hears laughter and he freezes immediately, heat flooding his skin. Patrick must’ve snuck in sometime before he finished. Art hadn’t heard the door but to be fair he wasn’t gonna hear much of anything once he’d reached that state. He sits up in bed, most likely red as a tomato as he pulls his shorts up over his thighs.
”Who’s the good girl?” Patrick snorts, dropping his book bag by the door and settling across from Art on his own bed. “And I’ll take a wild guess, you were hanging out in Kelsey’s room. I told you man. Boys and girls can’t be friends.”
“It’s not— it’s nothing, um— how was tutoring?”
”Oh come on, don’t do that. Tell me.” Patrick says grinning.
Art can barely look at him. His imagination had just been so vivid. He’s so fucking grateful Patrick can’t read minds but of course it’s not gonna stop him from trying.
“Wow look at you, she must be really hot. Come on, sunshine… spill.” Patrick demands. When Art doesn’t offer anything Patrick starts guessing names. Following him around the room while he cleans up after his… activities. Art lets him talk himself silly until he gets distracted by something else. He is determined to never, ever, mention it to Patrick ever. But his brain doesn’t let go of the image. In fact, night after night the fantasy just expands.
Patrick on his knees. Lacy white bra on now and he’s playing with his nipples. And now instead of Ashley it’s Art with him at Victorias Secret. And he’s rubbing Patrick through the panties with his socked foot and calling him good girl. “Good girl. Pretty girl. You were so nice all day. I’m gonna fuck you in the dressing room. Don’t take the panties off.”
Art wakes up all sticky nearly every night and has to sneak out of bed to change his boxers. No excuse now for how or why he’s taken Ashley’s place. No excuse for why he’s horny all the time, touching himself every minute he has alone. Touching himself till he’s dizzy. He’s driving himself crazy. It’s not Patrick, it’s probably his brain being weird because they spend so much time together. He’s not gay. He definitely likes women. He just really, really needs to see what this lingerie looks like. Maybe that will calm him down.
He waits for Patrick to leave for practice, making an excuse about his shoulder even though he’s been fine for over a month since he pulled that muscle. And when he’s sure Patrick’s gone he goes digging through his things. He’s so disorganized compared to Art, he doesn’t have an assigned drawer for anything so it takes some time. He doesn’t even find it in the drawer actually. He ends up looking in his closet and there’s a little pink bag tucked in the top in the corner. He’d almost given up. Art pulls it down and something lacy and white falls out.
Art kinda regrets his decision. It’s this little baby doll lace slip and tight little see through panties. Art is even more obsessed now. The image in his head screaming loud and clear. Patrick’s big thighs in this. He can’t help himself. He crawls on the bed and starts touching himself. “Such a pretty girl. Such a good girl. Want me to play with you. Make you feel so good.” He’s whining. His head all wrapped up in fantasy. Imagining the soft sound of Patrick’s voice, (Mm yeah, yes. You can do whatever you want, sunshine).
He hears the door this time. It’s entirely too late to hide the evidence but he’s still trying. Patrick’s got his tennis bag and he’s all flushed from practice. “Um…” he says stopping in his tracks as he reaches the bed and notices the lingerie.
Art doesn’t think he can possibly be anymore embarrassed and then Patrick starts grinning. “Oh fuck. Did Ashley tell you?”
Art nods because his voice isn’t really working.
“Fuck,” Patrick looks over Art and Art secures the blanket over himself trying to hide it. “You can try it on if you want, I washed em,” Patrick says, lightly.
Art bites his lip and then clears his throat. “I was thinking maybe you… you could?” In his fantasies he always sounds more assertive.
Patrick looks at him amused. “Oh Donaldson, am I the good girl?”
Art feels himself flushing so much he ponders going into the bathroom and hiding in there until they finish their senior year and he can disappear to Stanford and never see or hear from Patrick again.
“Fuck… okay…” Patrick says, chuckling all soft as he gazes at Art. “I can be your good girl.” He picks up the lingerie.
Art almost starts touching himself again, right then and there for the way Patrick says it.
“You want to watch me put it on? Or you want me to just come out ready for you?” Patrick asks, like this is just the most normal thing in the world.
Art clears his throat again. “R-ready?”
Patrick grins. “Okay stay there. Don’t touch.”
It’s a good thing he said that because it’s all Art wants to fucking do. He ponders lying on his side and just humping the mattress as a workaround. He hears the shower run but Patrick doesn’t take too long. Doesn’t take long at all. Whatever Art imagined, whatever his brain managed to conjure up the real thing is just… infinitely better.
“Fuck, I forgot how horny this shit made me,” Patrick sighs. He’s so tall, his legs long, unshaven. Knees, knobby and pink from being out in the cool air and then the hot shower. The top is lacy, thin straps, a smattering of freckles on the backs of his arms. The sheer fabric opens in the front over his flat abdomen. He’s got a four pack at the moment. A few freckles dot his stomach and theres a dark treasure trail leading down.
Patrick’s dick is… It’s absurd the way Patrick’s not being held in by the panties at all. Big heavy balls slipping from the bottom, cock shaft and head pressing out of the waistband, precum leaking out of him already. Art can’t help himself… he’s rubbing himself right away.
Hes not sure what he’s doing when he starts licking Patrick through the lace of the panties. “Just wanna taste your pussy.” He whispers, his voice foreign to his ears.
“Fuck, yeah taste it sweetie. It’s all yours.” Patrick breathes.
Art’s licking stripe after stripe along the sheer fabric and then he can’t wait any longer. He’s easing it out and taking as much as he can into his mouth.
“Mm fuck…” Patrick breathes sharply. “You like the taste, don’t you? Fucking delicious pussy.”
“Mmhm,” Art says, he’s helpless. Smelling him, licking him, tasting him. He’s losing his mind. His cock is throbbing mercilessly between his legs as he keeps going and going. Patricks just standing there so solid in front of him. So fucking full. So much. Too much. He’s taking it as Patrick slowly starts to thrust his hips. Deliciously desperate moans escaping his lips.
“You’re so fucking hot,” Patrick gasps. “I’ll be the best fucking girl for you.”
”Mm,” Art groans.
“I’ll ride you if you want. Squirt all over you. Get you wet… So wet.”
Art’s got his hand working between his thighs, he’s gonna fucking cum.
“Fuck baby… I’m gonna fill your mouth with so much, and you can fucking kiss me when I’m done and tell me I’m your good…nnngh—-”
Art can feel the heated liquid in his mouth everywhere all at once. Feels it, coating his tongue and the roof of his mouth, sliding down his throat with his spit.
He doesn’t want to but he pulls it out, wet and obscene like he’s just been sucking on a lollipop. All of the excess dripping from his mouth onto the floor while he finishes jerking himself off.
He collapses onto his back on the bed, chest heaving and breathless when he’s done. “Fuck,” he gasps.
Patrick chuckles softly and crawls on top of him. “Good?” He asks.
Art pulls at the sheer fabric and Patrick comes closer so Art can kiss him. “You were right.” Art says softly against his lips.
“Mm was I?”
“Mmhm,” Art says, grinning. “Men and women can’t be friends, sweetheart.”
Patrick smiles back, “Fucking insane.”

"It seems he really needs me to be with him -- and needs to have a lot of sex with me -- to help him through this lonely holiday period, hun. Which does make sense, don't you think? And after all the rejection he felt when his wife left him, I have promised him that he won't have to use protection and that this will be my fertile time. It really would be a huge boost to his self-esteem and feelings of masculinity if he were to get me pregnant -- so I've also promised him that even if I'm not pregnant after the holidays that I'll make you use protection after that but will keep having unprotected sex with him -- at least until he's successful at impregnating me. You do understand, don't you hun?"
The idea of having to go through the holiday period alone, while your wife is with your best friend, having lots of sex and actively trying to get pregnant with him, doesn't thrill you, but it would seem mean and thoughtless to object, so begrudgingly you agree that she is doing the best, and kindest, and sweetest, thing by spending the next two weeks with him.
"Just give me a few minutes to pack what I need, and then you can drive me over to his place" your wife then said. It was then that you realized that because she would be with him on Xmas, you would have to give her your present now. It would not be a surprise -- because every year you gave her the same thing -- some very sexy lingerie, which she would wear for you on Xmas night. But this year was going to be different, and you started to think that maybe you should hold off on giving her the gift until after she came back home a few days after New Years. As you were thinking that, your wife emerged from the bedroom, saw you with the gift in your hand, and laughingly said:
"Oh sweetie. I suddenly realized you would have to give me your gift now -- and you realized the same thing!". With a smile you handed it to her and she quickly unwrapped it, then held up the sexy red bra and panty set you had purchased for her. "Oh WOW" she said. "It is SO SEXY. He's going to LOVE IT when I wear it for him on Christmas night. And in fact, I think I'll tell him that you bought it as a gift for both me and for him! I think he'll like the idea that you wanted to do whatever you could to help me be as sexy as possible for him."
Your wife then smiled at you, and said: "Sweetie -- uh -- this is a little awkward, but anyway -- While I'm with him for the next two weeks or so, I'm sure he will want to take me out on some really nice dates, but the thing is, I know that because of the cost of his divorce he is pretty much broke right now -- so -- I was thinking that it would be really nice of you if, when you drop me off there today, you could kind of quietly (so as not to make him feel embarrassed) hand him one of your credit cards to use when he takes me out. OK? You will! Wonderful. You really are being so understanding about this."
She then continued: "And yes, of course sweetie, you also realize that for the big New Years Eve party that our friends always have, that he and I will go to that as a couple, so you probably shouldn't show up this year. I wouldn't want him to think that I wouldn't want our friends to see me with him or even for him to think that I would rather go to the party with you than with him. That might hurt his feelings, so the plan is for me to be there with him and to be affectionate with him in front of all our friends. That should really make him feel good about himself I think."
And with that, you took your wife's suitcase to the car and drove her to your best friend's house. When you arrived you walked up to the door with your wife -- carrying her suitcase, and when your friend opened the door, you simply handed him the suitcase, wished him happy holidays, and then stepped back as your wife walked in and received a hug and kiss from your friend, who then, with his arm around your wife's shoulders, waved goodbye to you and shut the door -- leaving you to return home alone while you knew they were headed to the bedroom.

Jinx never knew when to quit. Did she? Luckily, she had you and Isha for that. You and Isha shared a look with each other, having been watching Jinx since you walked into the workshop a moment ago. Isha simply shrugged when you raised your eyebrow and you sighed.
Since you'd last been here earlier that morning, Jinx was still in that same spot. Clearly she hadn't moved in the slightest. Well, other than to work on whatever it was she was making. You weren't entirely sure, she hadn't told you yet.
You walked over to your girlfriend, making your presence known by speaking first rather than touching. You'd learnt from that mistake when you first started dating Jinx," Jinx?"
She looked at you, a little confused at first but immediately brightening up when she saw you," heyyy!! There's my favourite person~" she jumped from her seat. Hips swaying, arms folded behind her while she walked to you. Then Jinx pounced. Arms suddenly around you. You laughed and hugged her back, holding her close.
Isha seemed almost offended at Jinx's words, Jinx noticed after a moment. Having an innocent look in her eyes," hey, you know what I mean. You're both my favourite! Favourite, favourite," she echoed the word, followed by a giggle. But even with all the energy she was showing, you could see past it.
The exhaustion that etched Jinx's eyes. To you, it looked like she hadn't slept in days. It wouldn't be the first, either. Jinx was clearly fighting fatigue. Forcing out more energy than she had. She'd been working a lot on whatever it was she was making and was forgetting about herself. Again.
"Jinx.. when was the last time you slept?" You asked, hand cupping her cheek. Her face fell at your words and she looked away. Jinx didn't want to lie to you. She never did.
"I... well, I- I joined you last night. I just didn't sleep and I didn't sleep the night before or the night before that, then there was that night I only got a couple hours before I was up working again-" Jinx rambled out. The more she went on the more worried you got. How hadn't you noticed? You always fell asleep pretty early in cuddle time. You just mustn't have noticed her getting up from bed after you were asleep. Jinx could be sneaky like that.
"Baby, come on. Take a break on your doohickey and come sleep," you pulled her over to the makeshift bed area. Isha following the two of you. She wanted cuddle time too, after all.
"Ha, doohickey," Jinx chuckled at your words but made little protest. She knew you were right. Sleep was trying to force her door down, anyway.
The three of you got cuddled up together, with you pulling the blankets over. You made sure to fall asleep last this time. Waiting until you were certain Jinx had knocked out. Isha you weren't too worried about, she slept pretty easily.
You slowly started to drift off to the sound of Jinx's snoring.

Part One - Part Two
-----
It has been more than a week since your last encounter with the owner of Arrow House, Thomas. Your first kiss with him last December 15th was something that kept you giddy to work as soon as the morning sun rose and before Miss Florence could knock at your door to wake you up, your room was already empty.
You went with your usual routine of sweeping off dust on paintings and sculptures, careful not to break or tear anything. This wasn't the first house you became a personal maid for someone, you've basically worked as a royal made once before getting kicked out by the head maid for "Eloping" with her man (which you didn't. The man was just accusing you because you said no to all his advances, which ended up with you on the whore house with 'Missus'). Humming as you cleaned and twirled, Miss Florence saw you and turned away with a smile.
-----
However, as fast as you were giddy that day, it was also punched right out you when you were called to attend to one of Thomas's whores.
"Ah! Y/N?" She slutterly (is that even a word??? XD) mentioned your name as she walked around you with the same dark coat Thomas had placed upon your shoulders to keep you warm yesterday.
"Yes." you muttered between gritted teeth, trying not to yank the coat away from her filthy body.
"Mmm... Mr. Shelby kept mentioning that name in our session." She said with great despise. That information had your body in tingles. 'My name? in sex? in a normal convo? with another woman?' this came up to mind as the whore walked away after wafting her hair and up the stairs to Thomas's room, possibly to regain his favours to her.
Questions bursts out your mind to the thought that was left behind. "...Mr. Shelby kept mentioning that name..." but why?
-----
After that day, you have never seen Thomas again in Arrow House. Miss Florence said he was on a business trip somewhere and would not be back till Christmas. That gave you time to think and to reflect on the kiss. AND to that whores last comment on their 'sessions'. Weird enough you thought that maybe she just heard it wrong, if not wrong then... why?
That had your mind busy for the rest of the week. Although with all the chores in hand, it made you forget Thomas easily. Suddenly remembering that the audition to the Garrison bar was going to be held on Christmas Eve. You had asked Miss Florence to be excused for that day, which she allowed.
-----
"Y/N!" a familiar voice called out to you through the swirling snow. You turned and saw ‘Missus,’ bundled in her thick, patched-up coat, her breath visible in the cold air as she waved enthusiastically.
“Missus,” you greeted her with a smile, tugging your own coat tighter around you as the wind picked up. Despite the chill in the air, her warmth was contagious.
“Still don’t know why you’re wastin’ that voice of yours on dusty houses. Tonight’s your chance, love. Show ‘em what you’re made of!” she declared, stepping closer. Her cheeks were flushed, whether from the cold or the drink she’d likely had before venturing out, you couldn’t tell.
“Didn’t think you’d actually come,” you teased lightly, though you were secretly glad to have her there.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” she replied, giving your shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “Now, let’s get inside before we freeze to death.”
The two of you entered the Garrison, the warmth and chaos of the pub hitting you like a wave. The air was thick with smoke and laughter, and the smell of ale lingered heavily. At the center of it all was a rather tone-deaf singer, standing on the makeshift stage, belting out a rowdy tune. Her pitch was so off that even the drunkest men in the room winced occasionally.
The pub owner, Harry, stood near the bar, shaking his head. “Alright, that’s enough! Off you go!” he barked, waving her down.
The woman staggered off, her cheeks burning as the crowd erupted in laughter and went back to their conversations. Harry rubbed his temple, muttering to himself as he reached for another pint.
Missus nudged you forward with her elbow. “Go on, love.”
You hesitated, your nerves getting the better of you, but Missus had no patience for second-guessing. She marched you straight to Harry. “Oy, Harry!”
The man turned, clearly unimpressed. “What now?”
“She’s here for the audition,” Missus announced proudly, gesturing to you like you were already a star.
Harry raised a skeptical brow, his eyes raking over you lazily. “You sing, do ya?”
“Yes,” you replied, your voice firmer than you felt inside.
“Sure, why not,” he said with a shrug. “You lot are all bloody awful anyway. The men are drunk enough, so go ahead—ruin my ears like the rest of ‘em.” He waved a dismissive hand toward the stage.
Before you could argue or even steady your nerves, Missus grabbed your arm and practically dragged you toward the stage. “That’s my girl!” she shouted, her voice echoing over the clamor of the pub. She plopped herself down at a table near the front, pint in hand, cheering you on with the enthusiasm of ten people.
You stood on the small stage, feeling the weight of every eye in the room—except for the ones you wanted most. Out of the corner of your eye, you spotted Thomas and his brothers seated in the far-right corner, engrossed in their own conversation. Thomas was leaning back in his chair, cigarette in hand, his expression unreadable. His brothers were equally disinterested, laughing at some joke you couldn’t hear over the din.
Taking a deep breath, you stepped closer to the piano and sat, your hands trembling slightly as you placed it on the notes. The room began to quiet down, curious about the new face on stage.
>>>>MOOSIC<<<<
As the first notes of “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” left the piano chords, the pub seemed to hold its breath. As you started to sing though that's when everyone was in awe. The soft, ethereal melody floated through the room, starkly different from the raucous atmosphere moments ago.
"It came upon the midnight clear,
that glorious song of old,
from angels bending near the earth
to touch their harps of gold:
"Peace on the earth, good will to men,
from heaven's all-gracious King."
The world in solemn stillness lay,
to hear the angels sing."
You glanced around as you sang. Some of the patrons were swaying gently, their mugs forgotten for a moment. Harry stood behind the bar, his usual gruffness replaced with a look of mild surprise. Missus was, of course, beaming at you, her pint raised high in salute.
And then your gaze landed on Thomas. He was no longer leaning back in his chair, his cigarette halfway to his lips, forgotten. His sharp blue eyes were fixed on you, and for a moment, it felt as though the rest of the pub had melted away.
His brothers seemed to notice his sudden silence, exchanging glances before following his gaze to the stage. But Thomas didn’t move. He simply watched, his expression a mix of curiosity and something deeper—something that sent a thrill through you as you hit the chorus:
"Peace on the earth, goodwill to men,
from Heaven’s all-gracious King..."
Your voice grew stronger, more confident, as the room continued to listen in hushed awe.
"Still through the cloven skies they come
with peaceful wings unfurled,
and still their heavenly music floats
o'er all the weary world;"
Your voice rang clear and steady now, weaving through the smoky air like a hymn in a sacred hall. The clamor of the pub had ceased entirely, save for the occasional clink of a glass or the creak of a chair as someone shifted to get a better view.
"Above its sad and lowly plains,
they bend on hovering wing,
and ever o'er its Babel sounds
the blessed angels sing."
Your eyes swept across the room as the words spilled effortlessly from your lips, each note carrying a haunting beauty. The drunkards, their mugs poised mid-air, watched you with wide eyes. Missus raised her pint higher, tears glinting in her eyes as she mouthed along with the words, clearly as proud as any mother watching her child’s first recital.
But it was Thomas’s gaze that kept pulling you back. He was leaning forward now, his elbows on the table, his piercing blue eyes locked on you with an intensity that made your heart falter mid-note. His brothers were as amused as Thomas was, their quiet singing along going unnoticed by him as he remained transfixed.
The pub faded into a blur around you, and for a moment, it was just you and him. The corners of his mouth twitched slightly, not quite a smile, but something softer, something rare. It made you feel both seen and exposed, like he was peeling back every layer of your soul with just a look.
You closed your eyes, letting the final verses of the carol guide you.
"For lo! the days are hastening on,
by prophet bards foretold,
when with the ever-circling years
comes round the age of gold;
when peace shall over all the earth
its ancient splendors fling,
and the whole world give back the song
which now the angels sing."
The last note hung in the air, delicate and trembling, before dissolving into the stillness.
The room erupted in applause, shattering the quiet spell you’d cast. Missus was on her feet, cheering loud enough to make up for anyone who wasn’t clapping. Harry nodded approvingly from the bar, a rare grin on his face.
And then there was Thomas. He didn’t clap, didn’t cheer, but his eyes said enough. There was something unspoken there, something electric that left you breathless as you stepped off the stage.
Missus grabbed you the moment your feet touched the floor, pulling you into a bear hug. “That’s my girl!” she hollered, spinning you around.
-----
As the noise swelled back into the room and the drunken revelry resumed, you glanced toward the far-right corner one last time. Thomas was no longer were he was, you looked around to see his brothers were eyeing you. John was grinning from ear to ear as he tipped his hat to you, you gestured with a soft smile. Arthur, visibly high from whatever he took, winked at you, making your soft smile widen a bit at the gesture as you shook your head continuing your drink with missus.
"Got a voice young lady, you ain't no whore like missus here ain't you?" Harry asked as he passed you your glass of water (you don't drink, taking care of your voice).
"No sir," you said in a hushed tone as missus and Harry glared knives at each other, clearly having a mental fight.
"Alright! you got the gig, every Saturday at noon. Don't be late." he huffed as he tended to other customers on the pub.
You beamed as you silently squealed with Missus. You now had enough jobs to be able to earn and go for an adventure; now it's just time to earn until-
Your reverie was cut short when a sudden familiar voice lingered behind you.
“Looking for me, darling?” His voice carried that familiar gruffness, the edges softened by something you couldn’t quite place.
You turned, startled but delighted. “Thomas,” you breathed, standing instinctively. His sharp blue eyes met yours, and for a moment, the entire pub seemed to dissolve around you.
“You’ve got a voice, Y/N,” he said, his tone quieter now, almost reverent. “Had the whole pub hanging on your every note. Even Arthur stopped his nonsense to listen.”
A faint blush crept up your neck at his words. “Thank you,” you murmured, your gaze falling briefly to the floor.
“I mean it,” he pressed. “Didn’t know you had that in you. If I’d known, I’d have dragged you to sing long ago.”
You smiled shyly but then felt the weight of a lingering question pull you back. Gathering your courage, you glanced up at him. “Thomas... about something the other day…”
He raised an eyebrow, waiting.
You inhaled deeply, your words tumbling out before your nerves could catch you. “That woman. Back at the Arrow House. She said you... mentioned my name. During her... visit.”
For the first time, you saw Thomas falter. His jaw tightened, and he cleared his throat, glancing away. “Ah, bloody hell,” he muttered under his breath, raking a hand through his hair.
“Well?” you prompted, your heart pounding.
He sighed, cursing himself softly before meeting your gaze again. “I did,” he admitted, his voice quieter now. “She said somethin’ about loyalty or... some nonsense, and your name just... slipped out.”
“Slipped out?” you repeated, your brows arching.
“Can’t help what’s on my mind, love,” he said with a sheepish grin. “After our kiss in the kitchen that night I couldn't stop thinking about you, I couldn't possibly have you on your knees all of a sudden," he paused as he huffed another batch of his cigar. "You-your were a lady when I first saw you. Not a personal maid, so I fell for your soul and well voice now too and it’s going to be bloody distracting now that I have these in mind.”
He paused yet again, seemingly trying to recall all his thoughts, which were now visibly in jumbles. "I like to get to know you," he said as he stubbed his cigar dead on the ashtray. "It seemed like I've known you for years when we had just met that very day, and I won't be able to stop thinking about you now."
Your cheeks burned at his confession, and you averted your eyes, a small, flustered laugh escaping your lips. “Well, I... I suppose I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you either,” you confessed, your voice barely audible over the noise of the pub.
His grin widened, the rare softness in his expression making your heart stutter. “Then we’ve both been fools, haven’t we?” he murmured, stepping closer. “Let me make it right. Take you out. Like a real lady.”
Before you could answer, Missus yanked you back by the arm, her eyes narrowed. “Not so fast, lover boy,” she said, pointing a finger at Thomas. “I’m takin’ her home, since you two might start shagging when she goes back to Arrow House today.”
“Missus!" shocked by her boldness but not surprised as she was already dragging you toward the door.
“Tomorrow, then!” Thomas called after you, a smirk tugging at his lips.
-----(Present Day, December 25th)
The warmth of the fireplace cast a golden glow over the living room as your daughter sat cross-legged on the floor by the Christmas tree, her curious eyes fixed on you. “But Mommy! Missus says she did no such thing!” she exclaimed, giggling.
You shot a playful glare at Missus, who was sitting comfortably in the armchair by the fire, sipping her tea. “Oh, did she now?” you teased, shaking your head.
Missus laughed, her graying hair framing her face. “Don’t listen to her, love. I was just keeping your mother out of trouble.”
The room filled with laughter until a familiar voice interrupted. “Baby, Daddy needs Mommy for a while, yeah? Why don't you go and play with Missus for a while.” Thomas said, stepping into the room.
Your daughter lit up and nodded. “Okay, Daddy!” she chirped, running over to Missus with her toys in hand.
Thomas extended a hand to you, his expression as unreadable as ever but his eyes warm. As soon as you were in the hallway, he leaned closer. “What were you tellin’ her?”
You smiled, leaning into his touch. “Just the story of how we met. You know, the softer version.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Softer version, eh? Did you leave out the bit where I killed Luca Changretta for your hand?”
A laugh bubbled from your lips as you shook your head. “No, it’s a bit too brutal for a five-year-old, my dear Tommy.”
He smirked, his hands sliding over yours. “In time, then,” he murmured, his voice laced with affection. “But for now…”
Without warning, he scooped you up in his arms, carrying you effortlessly toward the stairs.
“Thomas!” you squealed, laughing loudly as you clung to him.
“Merry Christmas, love,” he whispered, his grin widening as he carried you up, your laughter echoing through the house.
-----(Thomas's POV)
Thomas scooped you into his arms, holding you close as though you were the most precious thing in his world. He started up the stairs, his steps steady yet unhurried.
“You don’t have to carry me, you know,” you said, a soft laugh escaping your lips.
He looked down at you, his eyes sparkling with mischief and affection. “Oh, I do. You’re my princess tonight—and every night.”
Your cheeks flushed as you playfully swatted his shoulder. “You’re so cheesy, Thomas.”
“Only for you,” he replied, leaning down to brush his lips against your forehead.
As he entered the room, he nudged the door shut with his foot and gently placed you on the bed. The golden glow of the fairy lights illuminated your face, making you look ethereal. He slowly placed you down onto your shared bed and paused, taking you in as if committing the moment to memory.
“You’re staring,” you teased, your lips curling into a soft smile.
“Can you blame me?” he replied, his voice dropping to a husky whisper. “You’re breathtaking.”
Your smile faltered, replaced by a look of vulnerability. “You make me feel that way,” you murmured.
He leaned in, capturing your lips in a tender kiss. “That’s because it’s true,” he said softly, his forehead resting against yours.
He began to trail kisses along your cheeks and down your neck, his movements slow and deliberate. “Tell me if I ever do too much,” he whispered against your skin, his breath warm and comforting.
“You could never do too much,” you replied, your voice steady but filled with emotion. “I trust you.”
His lips curved into a smile against your neck. “I’ll make sure you never regret that,” he said, his tone serious yet filled with love.
As your connection deepened, you let out a soft laugh. “You’re so gentle, Thomas. It’s like you’re afraid I’ll break.”
“I’m not afraid,” he replied, his voice a mix of playfulness and sincerity. “I just want you to know how much I adore you—every part of you.”
As he said those words, his lips were now down to yours. Tickling your lower abdomen with soft kisses and slowly licking your clit from top to the bottom, making you hiss in pleasure.
He couldn't get over the taste of you, finer than the whisky he drinks and the cigar he smokes. He can forget Ophium, when you are one addicting woman.
"Fuck... I love you Y/N" He mutters as he laps his wet tongue through your slit and holds your hips as you were twitching heavy. His thumb on your clit drawing circles slowly and at rhythm to his tongue.
When he hears you scream his name like a prayer his pants suddenly felt tight and he couldn't let it wait any longer, he had to make you cum on his mouth now or never.
"Cum for me baby. Please... Oh God Please let me taste you" as he enters his tongue in you and his nose nuzzled on your clit and fingers twisting your nipples, fast.
"Th-Thomas! I-I'm Ah!" and release you did. However that didn't stop him and he kept his ministering to you until you could feel that satisfying release on the depths of your stomach.
"Thomas! I... I might make a mess..." You plead him as you trashed on his grasp without avail for his biceps were locked on your hips and legs. "Then make a mess. I'd love to see you make a mess for me, love"
And you squirted on his mouth. As he slowly pulls himself away and smirks looking at your majestic image, "Fuck, love you look gorgeous".
He was about to come back down and devour you once more but you won't let that happen this Christmas day. So, when you took control, he couldn’t help but smile up at you as your fingers traced the sharp angles of his face. “You know, I don’t think I say this enough,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
“What’s that?” he asked, his hands resting on your hips as he gazed up at you, completely captivated.
“I love you,” you said simply, your words carrying the weight of your feelings.
His eyes softened, and a slow smile spread across his lips. “You don’t have to say it all the time. I feel it every moment I’m with you.”
When you finally lay side by side, your breaths still mingling, Thomas turned to you, his fingers brushing a strand of hair from your face. “You’re my everything, you know that?” he said softly.
You smiled, your eyes glistening. “You’re mine, too,” you replied.
He chuckled, his voice warm and low. “Merry Christmas, love.”
“Merry Christmas, Thomas,” you whispered back, as you kissed him softly on his lips.
Thomas groaned, a low sound of pleasure, as you shifted your position, straddling him. Inserting his cock to yours, His hands instinctively found your waist, holding you steady as you began to move. His breath hitched, and he looked up at you with an expression that was equal parts awe and adoration.
“You’re going to be the end of me,” he murmured, his voice strained yet teasing, as his hands tightened slightly on your hips, guiding your rhythm.
You leaned forward, your lips brushing his ear as you whispered, “I think you like it this way.”
A chuckle escaped him, though it quickly dissolved into another groan as you continued. His head fell back against the pillow, exposing his neck as he surrendered entirely to you. Your fingers slid to his jaw, tilting his face back toward you.
“Look at me,” you said softly, your voice firm but full of affection.
His eyes fluttered open, locking onto yours as your hand moved to his throat. You applied the slightest pressure, watching as his breath hitched and his gaze darkened.
“Is this okay?” you asked, pausing briefly to ensure he was comfortable.
Thomas’s hands slid up your sides, his grip reassuring. “Perfect,” he rasped, his voice thick with emotion.
You continued, your movements slow and deliberate, savoring the moment as much as he was. His hands roamed your body, occasionally tightening as he got closer to the edge.
“I’m not going to last,” he murmured, his voice strained.
You leaned down, pressing a kiss to his lips as you whispered, “Then don’t hold back, baby.”
Moments later, the tension in his body gave way, and he groaned your name, his voice heavy with release. You followed shortly after, your body trembling as you reached your peak.
Breathless, you collapsed onto his chest, his arms wrapping around you protectively. Neither of you spoke for a while, the only sound in the room being your steady breaths mingling together.
Thomas finally broke the silence, his voice soft and full of contentment. “Merry Christmas, love.”
You smiled against his chest, your fingers drawing lazy patterns on his skin. “Merry Christmas, Thomas.”

I know you hurt me, but (hey) This is more than a friendship
✭・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭
Iwaizumi Hajime x F!reader
Tw! Smut(ty-ish), mutual pining, being used (or so reader thinks)
✭・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭
synopsis ; Hajime heard rumors about you, and since you were his close friend from childhood, he obviously has to go out of his way to see if they're true.
✭・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭
it's your third year and obviously that means rumors are still being spread by any and everyone who enjoys gossip.
this time the rumor was about you.
"She's been with over 5 of the guys on the volleyball team"
"She's had 15 boyfriends from what I heard."
A bunch of bullshit really.
You had never been with anyone.
At least that's what your life long friend Hajime had thought.
But now that he's thinking, the past year you've been really strange and distant.
Disappearing and reappearing at odd hours of the night, to strange locations.
Hajime only knows this because he has your location, naturally, he's your best friend, he's got to watch out for you however he can.
At least that's how he explained why he needed your location to you anyways.
You on the other hand, had found an interest in photographing run-down and nearly abandoned parts of your home town.
Sneaking around at 2:30 in the morning made it easier to get into these odd, sleazy places.
That was until a few weeks ago when a group of boys from the school caught you walking around a risqué club chatting with a few older men who you knew from your first year when they were third years.
And that's how you ended up in this situation.
4 large men towered over you, spouting off a jumble of questions.
“How come sawaka says he saw you mingling up with some shifty old guys at a strip joint?”
The tall dark haired boy, issei, asks. His arms are crossed and hes giving you a near parental eyebrow raise.
“W-what?” You stutter out. Genuine confusion on your face.
“You heard him! Now answer!” The tone of oikawas voice almost sounds like a whine from a child more than a demand.
“Gah! You guys dont control me!” You gather up your things and stand.
“And just where do you think youre going?” Makki now opens his mouth, but you know hes just antagonizing the situation, he probably couldnt care less about whatever you got up to in your own time.
“Away! Forever!” You say dramatically, leaving the classroom to enjoy your lunch elsewhere.
That night your phone rings, around 12:30 am.
Your eyes look up from your notebook that youd been doodling in for the past 4 hours.
Answering it a gruff voice speaks out
‘Can i come over? We need to talk.’
Iwaizumi seems upset.
‘Yeah of course, ill meet you down the street.’
10 minutes role by and you make it to the little park down the street from your house, just as Iwaizumi arrives.
He looks good, he’s starting to fill out and looks more manly than ever.
“Hey…??” You say in a questioning manner. You couldnt tell how he was feeling right now and then pit in your stomach was growing ever since he said those words.
“Your parents are still out of town?” He asks making his way past you to start the walk back towards your home.
“Yeah, for another 5 days i think? Who knows.. hah..”
Smooth, jackass, real smooth.
“Ah! Thats lame, i dont know how you stay home alone all the time like that.”
The mood lightens a bit with his goofy tone coming out slightly.
Hajime had always been the more serious one out of the two of you but that was never the case when it actually came down to being just the two of you.
He always was cracking jokes and acting like a fool, just to get a smile from you.
“Yeah, me either, i just stay up in my room now, i guess.”
“Seems boring.”
“Eh.” You shrug your shoulders, unlocking your front door.
You two make your way up to your room, not before raiding the kitchen for snacks and drinks first though.
This felt normal.
Like old times.
You honestly couldn’t remember the last time you two had hungout like this.
Over the past year you had drifted away from him, only because you couldnt help yourself.
Your once innocent thoughts about the boy youd grown up with had started becoming more and more…colorful.
The way his hands looked when writing, all the years of volleyball had definitely done good things for the man.
His arms were veiny as well as his hands.
His shoulders were broad and made him looks 10 xs more masculine than he already did.
Not to mention his voice had significantly dropped and his voice cracks had almost completely disappeared.
He was becoming a man and you were becoming a woman. And women have needs.
So instead of being selfish you separated yourself from him.
“So, you wanted to talk?” You ask, shoving a handful of popcorn in your mouth, sitting crisscrossed facing him on your bed.
He shifted to sit criss cross to face you now.
“Yeah, about the stuff going around school. You know, the things people are saying about you.”
“What about it? Its not true. If thats what youre wondering.”
“I mean- i didnt think so but…” you cut him off before he can say anything else.
“But you just had to figure it out for yourself?”
You knew him too well.
You saw something in him shift, a sudden energy overtook the room, one you hadn't experienced before.
He looked at you, "Yeah. You could say something like that."
"What do you mean?"
The way he looked back up at you after you had asked that sent a warm heat through your body.
"I mean, I've seen your location, why are you running around dirty parts of the city in the middle of the night? Are you really down there...doing things?" He seemed upset for second but then became stern again.
"Things? Like what? Partying?"
"I guess."
"No.," you sigh rolling your eyes as you lift yourself off the bed, reaching for your laptop. "I've been doing photography of the nightlife and shit."
He takes the laptop from you when you offer it to him, clicking through the hundreds of photos you'd accumulated over the past year.
After a bit of silence he speaks up.
"Wow, y/n, these are," he looks up at you and gives you a huge smile. "amazing! Holy shit dude! Why didnt you tell anyone about this?”
“Because i wanted it to be my own thing that i do for myself.”
He hands you back your laptop and you close it moving to set it on your desk.
A sudden change in energy yet again settles around your room.
Hajime is looking at his hands fiddling with his thumb and index finger, youre re-situating yourself on your bed when you look back up at him.
You know third year is coming to an end, which means he’s going to California soon.
You open your mouth to speak to him.
“I got into UCLA.” You say confidently.
He now looks up at you eyes wide.
“What?” He asks, wondering if maybe he misunderstood.
“I couldnt just let you go to the US without me. That wouldnt be fair y’know!”
He lifts off his side of your bed and tackles you down in a hug.
Positioning himself to hover above you now he has a giant grin on his face.
One only youve ever seen, hes goofy, and totally a sports nerd, well mannered, and sweet. This is a side of him only youve ever gotten.
“Youre not pulling my leg are you?” He give you a near-disappointed face.
“No. Im serious.”
“Ok.,” His eyebrows furrow and he turns his head for a second, a blush spreading on his face, with a huff he looks back at you. “Im…im glad youre coming. And im glad youre not out partying and getting with other guys.” He looks more serious than before.
“Other guys?” You raise a brow at him.
His face gets even redder than before.
“Well, yeah. I just figured you knew that i liked you….”
“You just ‘figured’ that i knew that you, hajime, liked me, y/n? And how exactly would i have figured that out?”
He rolls off of you now laying next you looking at your ceiling.
You’re nervous. He likes you? The guy that you’ve spent your entire life with like you…back?
“I dont know. The guys said it was obvious so there was no way you didnt know.”
You give him a blank stare into the side of his head.
“You are the biggest idiot i have ever met.”
He now looks at you, you can see him visibly shrink in on himself.
A few moments go by and you turn your head back to look at the ceiling.
“I love you.”
He sits up turning to look at you laying down.
“I love you.”
You sit up and your guys faces are so close you can see the faint scars on his face from all the roughhousing over the years.
Hes looking at you blankly, unable to comprehend that you might actually love him.
You roll your eyes at him. Knowing exactly how hes reeling in his own head.
“Im not lying, i love you.”
He gives you a raised brow.
You huff and lean in closing the distance.
He kisses you back, his hands snaking up around you, under your tshirt.
Hajime had been with a few girls before. He had told you about it, obviously.
Honestly you shouldve been more upset at the fact he was being a total hypocrite right now.
Things had heated up, he was between your legs, caging you beneath him, you had your hands in his hair, holding his lips to yours.
He was grinding up against you, you were moaning into his mouth.
Next thing you knew he was ripping your clothes off and you were pulling his off of him.
He ran himself over your wetness and let out a groan.
Pushing himself into you, you let out a loud gasp at the sudden splitting feeling.
He kissed your jaw whispering in your ear.
“You ok?”
You moaned and rolled your hips forward a bit, to signal you wanted him to move.
He began moving back and forth, slowly at first, until you begged him to go faster.
Soon he had your leg up on his shoulder and was leaning over you, leaving kisses down your jaw and neck.
“H-haji-,” he leaned up, not slowing his pace. “M’ gonna- m’gonna”
He threw his head back pulling your hips to match the pace of his thrusting, he was going deeper and harder than before, the knots were tightening in your abdomen.
“Do it.”
With that you let go, seeing fireworks fill your vision.
“F-fuck!” He pulled out cumming on your stomach.
He got up and retrieved a washcloth from your bathroom, cleaning you up.
Getting dressed again you laid back down, him in his boxers next to you.
But he was facing your wall. You felt a ping of hurt in your chest as you crawled back into your bed, where the boy you loved had just deflowered you.
“Haji-“ you spoked but stopped when you heard a soft snore leave his mouth. A sigh left your lips as you faced the other way and closed your eyes. Youd just talk to him in the morning.

Morning rolled around and you found yourself in the middle of your bed. Looking around you didnt see hajime or his things. You stood out of bed and looked to your clock.
5:45 am.
You grabbed your phone, opting to call him instead of search around for him.
No answer.
You thought back to the night before and felt sick to your stomach.
Maybe you messed everything up.
These thought filled your head all the way to school.
When you arrived in the classroom you saw him sitting at his desk. Right next to yours.
You made a slow approach towards your usual seat, eyeing him like he was some sort of monster that would spot you at the slightest movement.
Sitting down you finally turned towards him.
“Hey.” You said soft enough for him to hear it.
He looked at you then turned away quick. Not answering.
You looked down at your lap, where your fingers were twirling anxiously.
✭・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭
This act kept up for 3 whole weeks. Not one word said between you two.
This was becoming a problem for your mutual friends on the volleyball team.
You had stopped coming around to practices and ignoring the other boys. It was lowering the whole teams morale.
Finally oikawa had enough and cornered you against a corner with the other 2 boys.
“What. The. Fuck. Is. Going. On.”
It wasnt a question. It was a demand.
“Nun ya.” You said crossing your arms and rolling your eyes.
Maki smacked the wall next to your head leaning down to make eye contact with you.
“Tell us now.” He was dead serious.
“Fine.,” you huffed looking away from them. “Hajimeandihadsex3weeksagoandheleftinthemiddleofthenightandhasbeenignoringmeeversince.”
“Woah-woah- you and haijime WHAT?!” Now mattsun spoke up shaking his head in disbelief.
“We had sex. And then he rolled over in my bed and went to sleep. And now hes ignoring me. And hasnt talked to me in 3 whole weeks.” You were looking at your shoes, tears had finally built up in your eyes.
Oikawa put his hand on your shoulder.
“Hey,” it was soft spoken, unusual from his normal behavior. “Hes a dick for that. You didnt deserve that.” He patted your back and motioned for the other two boys to follow him.
They made their way to Hajimes classroom telling him to come with them for an impromptu club meeting. He followed unknowingly.
They found themselves in the club room.
Hajime in a familiar position that you had been in by the same boys just a bit prior.
Oikawa, Maki, and Mattsuwaka had evil and dangerous looks on their faces. Hajime was scared.
Mattun spoke. “Whats your problem?”
Then oikawa through gritted teeth. “Youve got some explaining to do.”
And finally Maki, “How is it you bag the hottie whos our number one supporter and somehow you manage to fumble her?” Hes popping his knuckles in a threatening manner.
Iwaizumi gave a few dumbfounded blinks then spoke up.
“I uh-,” he was cut off by the three boys leaning over him more than they were before, closing out any light from the corner he was in. He cleared his throat and spoke again. “I came really quick. And uh. Im embarrassed to talk to her.”
The three boys all exchanged glances before leaning back up.
Hajime leaned all the way back up as well.
Maki reached out and landed a hard punch to the cornered boys stomach.
“You fucking idiot!”
Oikawa now spoke, “you know, y/n thinks that you hate her? She was crying over it earlier!”
Mattsun pushed hajime towards the door.
“You better go fix this. Fucking dumbass.”
✭・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭
It was 8:30 pm.
Hajime knocked on your door, hoping your parents were off somewhere for work.
You answered the door.
Hajime took you in.
You had on a too large Tshirt he knew to be oikawas, one you had stolen a year prior, during a group sleepover at mattsuns.
Hajime remembered you had been baking cookies in the kitchen with the tall setter when he caked you in flour and eggs. In exchange he offered up his sleep shirt, feeling bad afterwards about the mess he made.
Looking down a pair of his own boxers sat on your hips. Folded down a few times so theyd fit you.
They mustve gotten mixed in your laundry at some point. Who knows.
“Haji! Hi!” You gave him a wide-eyed stare. Caught off guard by his sudden presence after weeks of missing him.
He looked at you then down at his feet, kicking a small rock he shoved his hands in his pockets, looking back up to you he spoke.
“Im really fucking sorry y/n.”
✭・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭
You had only seen him like this twice in your entire life.
Once when he and oikawa broke your brand new guitar that you spent a whole summer babysitting and doing odd jobs to save money for.
Hes still doing chores for his mom to this day to pay off the debt of buying you a new one.
The second time was 2 summers ago when you and the other volleyball team members went camping for a summer bonding trip.
Oikawa and hajime were sitting next to you rough housing when the black haired boys elbow flew back and hit you square in the nose.
A quick *crack* sounded on impact.
He slowly turned his head to look at you, blood rushing down your face from your nose, your nose was already purple and crooked to one side.
“Holy shit. Holy shit, holyshit. Holyshitholyshit.” You panicked.
The other team members gathered around you, unsure what to do.
“We… we need to go to the hospital.” Hajime spoke up.
“You fucking broke my nose!” You were crying, trying not to touch your nose.
“Oh fuck!” Oikawa now said bring everyone back to earth.
With a rush you were in a coaches car with haijme holding you stroking your hair.
“Im sorry” was all he said to you for the 30 minute drive.
He never lived that down. But you werent too mad.
You got a free nose job and hes still paying off his debt for breaking your nose.
✭・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭
“Wha-“ you were cut off by him speaking again.
“I really really fucked up y/n. And im so sorry. I love you and i was embarrassed and didnt know what to do.”
“Not ignore me, maybe?” You huffed now annoyed.
“I know. Im sorry.,” he looked around then straight abck at you, now straightening his posture. “I love you too.”
You blinked a few times then began shutting the door.
He stopped you with his foot.
“Wait!”
You groaned loudly then reopened it.
“What? You really hurt my feelings and now you just want me to be like ‘oh ok, cool youre embarrassed you fucked me’ and move on?”
“No! I- i want to explain myself.”
You leaned against the door and rolled your eyes. “Fine.”
“I uh, i camereallyfastandthiughtyoudhatemeandbeembarrassediwasyourfirsttime.”
You now stood completely infront of him.
Your eyes yet again wide in surprise.
“So you ignored me because you came quick?”
He was now giving you the same dumb look you had just given him.
“Yeah.” It was quiet. Like a scolded child.
“So what? I came too, i dont know how all this sex stuff works exactly but i think were even.” You now had an eyebrow quirked up at him.
“Oh…”
“Yeah ‘oh’ you ignored me for 3 weeks because you came quick or whatever you just said.”
He now looked extremely embarrassed.
“How are you going to make it up to me?” You asked.
“Uhm,” he stood there thinking for a second. “How about a date? Tomorrow? 7pm? Wear something nice?”
You felt a smile grow on your face.
“Sounds good.”
“See you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow.”

---
You switched your phone off after calling Eddie, telling him you were out. Throughout that five minutes call, notifications and incoming calls kept appearing on your screen, driving you nuts. Eddie and his wife Annie were elated, telling you to not bother unpacking, their scheduled move was looking to be right on schedule, and you were moving in with them. No questions asked, not taking ‘no’ for an answer. Your niece was extremely excited; she had been given a basic modern Nokia since she was starting pre-school in autumn, the phone only had three numbers in it – Mommy, Daddy, and Beans. She had been calling you non-stop, asking you what you were doing and how many days were left until you move in with them. Annie had already threatened to confiscate the phone – the bill was shocking for a five-year-old with three contact numbers in her basic ass phone with no Wi-Fi or internet connection.
Tess and Frank had run out when they saw you park, eyes scanning the surroundings in case Max decided to follow you. You didn’t know why they thought that; the man was no James Bond. He was never going to come after you like that. Inundate you with phone calls? Maybe. But follow you? Nah… You’d need balls to do that, and you doubt he had any, despite being a man. You were greeted by Bill, Frank’s husband, as soon as you walked in, the stoic man hugging you tight, telling you he was proud of you for leaving that wimpy ass man. Frank shushed him before he could get too worked up. True, he had called Bill over to be a guard dog, just in case, but now that there was no threat to be seen, he didn’t want the man raising his blood pressure for no reason.
The three of them helped you set up your office, rearranging some things around so that you could be more comfortable. They had all offered their places for you to stay at while Eddie was still not here, but they lived with their partners in two-bedroomed houses, one of the rooms an art studio for Frank and an office for Andy, Tess’s girlfriend, who worked from home, so if you were going to end up on a couch anyway, might as well be in the privacy of your office. At least you could cry about your failed marriage alone. The bakery had a security system, and the PD was just around the corner, so you did feel safe being here, not to mention having a bakery meant waking up at ungodly hours to prep, so now, at least for two weeks, your commute was much shorter.
Actually, even after Eddie had moved in, your commute would still be short. Eddie bought one of the old houses from one of the first residence area when the town opened, which was just behind the school field a couple of blocks away. Somehow, he managed to find one that hadn’t been renovated at all, the couple who lived there a bit nostalgic about the place, having lived there all their married lives until the husband passed last year. The wife sold it at a steal, being sick and childless, having decided to move to a retirement home now that she was all alone. Andy was a real estate agent, and managed to tip Eddie about the sale, and he got it at first offer. He had all sorts of plans for it down the road, when he and Annie could build up their savings again.
According to Andy, the house was in great condition, clean and ready to move into. It’s just dated. You hadn’t seen it, too busy distracting yourself from thinking about your husband’s dalliances back then. Oh well, you’re sure Eddie made the right choice, the dependable, responsible man that he was.
The three insisted they stayed with you until dinner time, Andy arriving a little after closing with some Chinese. As depressing as the whole situation was, you were glad you had these people with you in your corners. You would have been in theirs too, if you’re honest. Frank and Tess had been your friends since college, taking the part time classes together. They had been working in the corporate world all their adult lives, making good money, but could feel their sanity waning. So when you told them your plan to open a bakery, they jumped at the opportunity to invest. Frank soon quit his job and took cake decorating classes, his first love being art all along, now designing gorgeous cakes for special occasions all over town instead of buildings, and Tess quit her job as a lawyer soon after, realizing that letting her frustrations out on dough had better repercussions than doing so on her bigoted and misogynistic colleagues.
So now, all three of you spent your days baking, decorating, chilling together in the bakery, the two of them making significantly less than they did before, but with much lower blood pressures.
Naturally, the subject of what happened at Jen’s house came up. You told them about your talk with Joel and the lovers’ reactions when they realized you were there, all of them looking scandalized by the happy couple’s pleading and begging. Really? Beg for what? Hmph!
They had all known Max for years, saw his change from the start. They saw first hand what he had put you through, and there was no doubt in your mind that they hated him for it.
“Oh! Joel said he liked our rice pudding! He said he bought them a lot. Joel is the mistress’s husband, by the way, if I wasn’t clear before.”
Tess, Andy and Frank sat up straight.
The teacher from the school? Tall? Broad as heck? Beard? Moustache? Curls for days?
Honestly, you had no idea who was asking the questions. You didn’t even know if he’s the same person they were talking about. You didn’t even know what he did for a living. Bill was the only one who seemed as in the dark as you were.
“Er… I don’t know for sure… but… yeah, I guess?”
Oh. My. God.
It was all three of them this time. Frank, Tess and Andy.
“What?”
“Max cheated on you with RPH’s wife?” Frank looked as if he wasn’t breathing.
“RPH?”
The three nodded enthusiastically.
“Rice Pudding Hunk. He comes in every day. Only buys rice pudding. Best 10 minutes of the day.”
Tess and Andy nodded again.
Bill’s head snapped towards his husband. “Rice Pudding what, now?”
“Oh, Bill, the guy is totally hot.”
“Super-hot,” Andy chimed in.
“Ridiculously hot,” Tess finished.
All three of them took a long, deep sigh, staring dreamily out of the bakery window.
Okay… you rolled your eyes and began fishing for broccoli in your Chow Mein. You were trying hard to get one particularly juicy, sauce-covered looking one with your chopsticks, your tongue out in concentration.
“So, did you get his number?”
Huh?
“Why would I get his number?”
“You know, share sob stories, vent, maybe… release a certain… need together.”
“What?”
“Hey, he’s really, really hot!”
“I have eyes, thank you.”
“So?”
“So, men looking like that do not go for women like me. You should’ve seen his wife. She looks like a Victoria’s Secret model, if they were only slightly taller than me. If plain old Max who had known me most of my life could find reason not to be attracted to me anymore, why the heck would someone looking like Joel want someone like me?”
“Hey, you’re totally cute.”
“Super cute.”
“Ridiculously cute.”
You rolled your eyes. So sweet of these people. But everyone knew what ‘cute’ meant. It meant ‘not hot’, that’s what it meant. You seemed to recall people questioning if Max, who by any measure was average looking, was really with you. To the general public, you were not even attractive enough to be with someone average looking.
That night, after they all left, you found yourself lying in the dark unable to sleep. For the first time since the age of 15, since you and Max became an official couple, you were alone. Did you even know how to be alone? Sure, you’d technically been alone since Max stopped paying any attention on you, but now, you’re really, truly, alone. You looked at your ring finger, the ring tan line still visible despite taking the ring off weeks ago, which Max hadn’t even bothered to notice.
Even having dinner with those four, tonight, it felt different. All this while, when you would be the fifth wheel to the two couples, you had never felt like the odd one out. You were in a couple too, but your supposed other half stopped hanging out with your friends once he found his new, fancy, hoity-toity ones. But you knew you had a partner, as absent as he was. It made you feel better, somehow, knowing you had him somewhere. But now…
You reached out for your phone and finally switched it back on.
As soon as the coverage was up, oodles of notifications came swarming in, about 100 from Max, and another 50 or so from a number you didn’t recognize, which, judging by the initial text, was Jen’s.
Max’s messages began with question marks, and then actual questions asking you what the fuck were you thinking? And then full-on raging at you for daring to leave him. Who were you to leave him? Who would take you now? Did you know how lucky you were that he even deigned to look at you? What man would take you? You were nothing without him. He’s leaving you, how about that? How did it feel to be dumped? Huh? The rage turned to bragging about what he and Jen were going to do now that you were out of his life. He could not wait until the year was up, so he could marry her.
And then, within the space of seconds, according to the time stamp, the bragging turned into pleading. Please reconsider. Please come home. The house felt empty without you. Please baby. Come back. Please.
By the time you finished reading his slew of texts, which ended with a big fat fuck you, you were exhausted. How you wished you could just block him, change your number, but Tess advised you not to do that, even her former colleague who you went to for advice told you not to. Keep the texts. The voicemails. For the divorce. So you settled with muting him for now. Maybe one day you’ll just get another number and keep this one just for him to call you every name under the sun at. But until then, muting would have to do. You switched the phone back off and went to sleep.
Huh. Who would’ve thought reading texts from your soon to be ex husband would make you feel better about being single again. He had been a huge presence in your life for half your life. You were fucking terrified, yes, but oh so glad that you left.
You wondered what Joel was feeling at that very moment. Was he sleeping soundly? Or was he just as terrified as you were to start fresh?
**********
Joel sat in his truck for what felt like hours when he got to Tommy and Maria’s. They were both not home yet, and even though he had the keys, he just felt like an intruder, going into their marital home without them being there. He rubbed his face, trying to calm himself. He had made the mistake of opening the first slew of texts Jen sent him when he got there. The texts, which started with her pleading for him to pick up her calls soon became nasty. One in particular stuck with him.
‘Where would you be without me, Joel? Huh? Who’s gonna take you in? What woman in their right mind would take a cuck like you in their lives? Women need strong men, Joel. Providers. Leaders. Not you. You couldn’t even feed me if you tried, Joel. You didn’t even leave when I told you I wanted to fuck other men. You are weak. Pathetic. Whoever you were running off to, Joel, would be a downgrade compared to me. So go, you pathetic, limp dick of a cuck!’
A cuck. That’s what she called him. A cuck. Because he didn’t run amok when he found out about her infidelities. Because he wasn’t making enough money. Because he didn’t assert dominance in their marriage.
It was as if he would lose either way. If he had been controlling of her since the beginning, he could just imagine the shit she would’ve called him. An abuser, a manipulator. When he didn’t, he’s a cuck. There was no winning with her. Did she even love him?
And yet, when she started begging, hugging his leg, he could feel his heart soften for her. This was the woman who used to tell him she couldn’t live without him. Even after everything she had done to him, hurled at him, he found himself unable to be rough with her. She was still his wife. The woman he tried his mightiest to make happy. As miserable as she had made his life these few years, there was a time he went hungry just so he could buy her an engagement ring worthy of his love for her. At that moment, when she tearfully clawed at the door handle of his truck, begging him to stay, he really thought he might cave. Until you drove by, beeping at him, snapping him out of the reminiscing his traitorous heart was making him do.
His phone had been vibrating non-stop since then. Calls, texts, voicemails, the likes. He couldn’t bring himself to look again. If they’re just more of her calling him whatever colourful names she could think of, he didn’t want to know. If they’re just more of her begging and pleas, he didn’t want to cave. He knew he needed to let this go.
Maria knocked on his window, asking him what he was doing outside. It’s boiling out here. Come on inside.
She helped him carry his stuff inside, despite his protests. They had turned her office into a room for him, an old futon from her old apartment all made up for him to sleep on. She asked him if he needed anything else and he shook his head, thanking her for letting him stay. She squeezed his hand in response, her heart broken for this gentle bear of a man. She’s making dinner, she told him. Take your time and come out when you’re ready, okay?
Joel sat on the futon, seriously wondering how life was going to be for him now. His phone was still vibrating incessantly, a number he didn’t recognize now joined in on the texts. He got up and asked Maria if she knew how he could mute someone. She had advised him not to block Jen, all the texts and voicemails could be evidence for the divorce. He was so thankful for her for her advice during all this. She had recommended a colleague of hers to represent him, pro bono. He owed her a favour, she had told him. He had asked her not to do that, but Tommy told him there was no use arguing with a lawyer.
It took her seconds to mute Jen for him, and that other number too, as she suspected that it was the guy she was with, going by the texts. He thanked her, rolling his sleeves to help her with dinner, despite her protests. Please, he said, let me at least do this for you, taking the knife from her hand and began chopping the onions she had started chopping.
He told Maria and Tommy what happened when he went to pick up his stuff during dinner, both of them scoffing at her dramatic clinging to his leg, begging him to stay. Hmph. Stay for what? Joel swore Maria’s eyes rolled up so high he couldn’t even see her irises at one point.
They had known Jen for a long time and saw how much she’d changed. They saw first hand what she had put him through, and he was quite certain that they hated her for it.
Thank God he had them in his life.
“So, the wife, what’s her name?” Tommy asked.
“Why?”
“She hot?”
“Tommy!” Maria smacked him on the shoulder.
“What? They’re kindred spirits. Their partners are already going at it, why not them? Doesn’t have to be anything serious, just… you know, for… stress relief.”
Maria closed her eyes, opening them again to give Joel an ‘I’m sorry’ look. Joel laughed, shaking his head.
“I just moved out, Tommy. I have no time, nor the mind or will to think about stuff like that. And she’s exactly in the same boat as I am, so, no.”
“But she is, hot?”
“She’s cute. She owns that bakery that sells those rice puddings near the school. Lil Beans?”
“Lily? Lily Williams? Jen is cheating on you with Lily William’s husband?” Maria shrieked, getting Tommy all excited that she had known you.
“What? You know her babe?”
“She’s my client. I’m handling her pending divorce. She’s Tess’s best friend, you remember Tess? I don’t think you’ve met but I’m sure I’ve told you about her. She used to work with me. Oh, she’s totally cute. Adorable as a bunny rabbit.”
“Tess?”
“No, you muppet, Lily! And she’s so nice, too. And a great baker. You should try something else at that bakery apart from the rice pudding. Everything she makes is delicious.”
“Yeah, Joel, you know there are other desserts other than rice pudding? You can’t keep having rice pudding you know. Explore a bit.”
Joel and Maria were quiet for a bit.
“Are you still talking about rice puddings? Or something else?” Joel asked Tommy.
“Look, brother, you are a loyal man, and that’s a good thing. But being loyal to Jen got you here. Maybe, now that you’ve left, you need to explore a bit. You’re a single good-looking man, there are others for you out there. Maybe Jen doing this with that guy is kismet. Maybe you and Lily should… you know, talk. Share experiences. Be ‘friends’,” Tommy did the air quotes, winking at his brother.
Joel scoffed and continued eating. Max made more than double what Jen did. Jen made sure to tell him that. If Jen could make him feel like a useless wimp for not being able to afford fancy holidays to take her on, what would you think of him? You must have been accustomed to a certain lifestyle being married to a man like Max, why would you lower your standards for some primary school teacher making pennies such as himself?
Joel went back to his room once he cleared the kitchen with Tommy, wanting to give his brother and his wife some alone time. He’s used to being the third wheel with them, but now, somehow, it just felt… off. For whatever reason, being the third wheel when he himself was in a couple felt different to now. Now he just felt like he was intruding.
Fuck. He’s single again. This was alien to him. He’d been with Jen for half his life, literally. Fifteen years. It’s all he knew. Even during those times she treated him the way she did, there was an ease in his mind knowing that he was not alone. But now, he just felt… lost. He looked at his ring finger, the tan line still there despite taking his ring off months ago, not that Jen noticed.  He was a married man. He liked being married. Even now, knowing how miserable he was, he missed it. He missed having the routine of going home to someone.
Oh well, maybe it’s not meant to be.
He laid on his futon, taking the book he had started the day before to read. He could hear Tommy and Maria laughing at something they were watching on TV. He remembered the times he and Jen used to do that. God, what an idiot he was. He tried so hard, so many times to take her back to those times, remind her what they had together. It took him so long to accept that she was no longer interested in that life. She was no longer interested in him.
As relieved as he was that he left, he was terrified by what he was about to walk into. Could he be single again after all this time?
Sigh.
He wondered what you feeling at that very moment. Were you sleeping soundly? Or were you just as terrified as he was to start fresh?
**********
“Oh God, Eddie, was that door a time machine?”
You couldn’t believe your eyes. The house looked like it was stuck in the past. The wallpapers, the cabinetry, the bathrooms, the carpeting, all of it, it was basically the 70s.
“Shut up. It was cheap, it has room, and we could change things over the years,” Eddie was defensive, although you could see the glint of excitement in his eyes, his arm snaking around Annie’s waist from behind, hugging her so tight the woman squealed.
“Eww… Beans, make them stop. They’re always doing that!” Ellie shouted from the piggyback you had her on. You could just see her face then. So dramatic when it came to PDAs from her parents.
“Hey, you came from one of these, so you’re not one to complain, missy,” Eddie told her, making Annie slap his arms.
“Beans, what’s he talking about?”
“Nothing. Forget you heard that,” you told her, taking her to your room to unpack whatever small amount of belonging you had.
Annie had gone all girly auntie lady on your room, ordering the most princessy bed she could find at Ikea for you. The white metal kind with swirls and florets all over the curved and stylized headboard. She had been disappointed Ellie didn’t want one for herself, opting for the simpler black metal day bed, so she took her frustrations out on you instead. She was so happy to know she was having a girl, dragging you around the mall to buy every pink stuff she could find every time she and Eddie was in town to visit you. She was so deflated when Ellie grew up to not like pink at all, but being the awesome mother that she was, she let Ellie choose anything she liked.
And you? Despite your personal feelings about that bed, you were just thankful you had one at all. So you were not going to complain.
It took the three of you a whole week to unpack. As soon as the last box was flattened and placed with the recycling, you treated them all to a wonderful dinner at the fancy steak place in town, splurging as a thank you to your brother, his wife and their kind consideration for you.
You sat in the backyard with him as Annie tucked a sleepy Ellie in bed.
“Thanks Ed, for taking me in, I don’t know how to thank you,” you told him.
“What? Of course you do. I expect good dessert every day, thank you very much.”
You laughed out loud, feeling ever so grateful you had him in your life.
“You bought a nice place, Ed, it’ll be an awesome forever home someday. Once we fix it a bit. I promise I’m not gonna take too long to find another place, okay?”
“The fuck are you talking about? You’re staying. End of. Until you find yourself a man, one who can actually take good care of you this time, and I’m not talking about money, you are staying here with us. Annie agrees. We’re not taking no for answer. Plus, you want to tell Ellie her only aunt would rather live somewhere other than across the hall from her? I don’t want to do that. She’ll hate me for life.”
“Come on Ed, I can’t impose on you forever.”
“Nuh uh, nope. Listen to me, Beans, you’re family. We’re all each other has. Mom and dad would rise from the grave if they knew we live in the same town and not live together. You want to risk that?”
You laughed, laying your head on his shoulder.
“Plus, the house was gonna be yours anyway, if something happened to me and Annie.”
You lifted your head off.
“What are you talking about?”
“We finalized our will. If something were to happen to both Annie and I, you get the house, and custody of Ellie.”
“What the fuck, Ed? Why would you talk about something like that? It’s not funny!”
He gave you a very serious look.
“I’m being serious. We have a child, we have to think about these things. And we don’t trust anyone but you to take care of Ellie. You would take care of her, wouldn’t you? Like she was your own?”
“Of course I would, but I don’t like you talking about shit like this Ed. It’s not funny. If you die before me, I will kill you. You understand?”
Your eyes were filled with tears, the prospect and thought of him leaving you was just too much. He pulled you into a side hug, kissing your temple.
“Promise me you’ll stay alive Ed. What would I do without you? Don’t even talk about shit like that to me. Promise me, Ed. Promise me,” you sobbed.
He pulled you into a full hug, letting you sob into his shoulder.
“I promise Beans, I promise.”
**********
The bell to the front door of your bakery jingled. Tess yelled out that she would be right out, and for whoever it was to browse first. She was washing flour off her hands when you told her you’d take this one. Ellie’s voice was already piping up behind the counter. Who are you? What’s your name? What are you doing here? Why are you so old? Why is your face like that? The male voice that was trying to answer didn’t stand a chance – her questions were incessant, one after the other, like bullets.
“Ellie, what are you doing? Are you trying to scare my customers away now?”
“Hi, it’s you. Lily, right?”
Oh… it’s him. He’s here. You were always in the back when he dropped by apparently, you had no knowledge of the RPH until they told you.
“No, It’s not Lily. It’s Beans,” Ellie answered for you, standing on a chair so she could see over the counter, arms crossed on her little chest, her face a bit sceptical of Joel.
“Ellie, stop it. He’s a customer. Be nice.”
“It’s okay, really. I don’t mind. Hi, I’m Joel.”
“You are a man, right?”
Er… where were you going with this, Ellie?
“Last I checked, I am.”
“You have balls?”
“ELLIE!!!”
“What? Daddy said all men have balls. Except Max,” she looked at Joel and told him outright, “Daddy calls him No Balls Max.”
Oh dear God.
“Good to know,” Joel laughed, giving Ellie a fist bump, and then pretending to hurt his hand when she bumped it with her tiny fist.
Tess came out and gave Ellie a high-five. Good girl, she said, come on, let’s leave your auntie Beans alone with RPH. Bye old man, Ellie yelled as she followed Tess to the back.
“RPH?”
“Feel free to ignore them. Hi, what can I get you?”
“I’ll have the rice pudding and the egg tarts please.”
You got what he asked for, apologizing profusely for Ellie’s potty mouth. He laughed it off.
“That’s a smart kid. She’s gonna be a ballbuster one day. I take it that’s your niece?”
“Yeah… she starts pre-school in September, so until then she’s here with me while her parents work. It’s part of my lease agreement with my brother. And I cannot wait until she’s in school lest she runs all my customers off with her mouth!”
He laughed again, taking the paper bag, digging in his pocket for his card. You waved your hand at him. They’re on the house.
“You don’t have to do that,” he said, offering you his card anyway. You waved it off, telling him it’s a thank you for being there for you that day the two of you moved out. You were sure things wouldn’t have gone as well if he hadn’t been there.
“I’ll pay you back somehow,” he promised you, putting the card back in his pocket. “Thanks for these Lily, or Beans, apparently?” he looked at you questioningly, a curious smile on his face.
Your phone rang in your office. A story for another day, you told him. He nodded and tipped his proverbial hat at you, thanking you once more before leaving the store. You rushed to answer your phone.
“Hello, this is Officer Matthews calling from the County Medical Center, may I speak to Ms Lily Williams please?”
“Yes, this is she.”
“Are you related to a Mr Edward Williams and Mrs Anne Williams?”
Oh God.
“Yes, they’re my brother and sister-in-law.”
“Ms Williams, I’m sorry to inform you…”
The rest of Officer Matthew’s speech was garbled. You were under water. You couldn’t breathe. You dropped to the floor, Frank rushing in, his face panicked, asking you what was going on. Ellie came in after him, her face was the only thing you saw, despite Tess and Frank being right there next to her.
Frank took your phone off your hands, as you pulled Ellie in for a tight hug, hoping that you would soon wake up from this nightmare you were sure you were in.

You sat with Sam and Robby a table away from Dimitri and Eli. The bar buzzed with music and chatter, but you were more focused on your water (you didn’t like drinking, same as Robby, and pop was off-limits during the season—you were strict about keeping your body in peak condition). Sam and Robby were deep in conversation about Tory and Miguel, their voices low but laced with tension.
“ I hope Carmen is okay.” Robby said idly, spinning his straw in his glass “ Did you talk to Miguel before they left?”
Sam shugs, “ for like thirty seconds. We were excited to go exploring but now”
You nudged your twin with an elbow. “ You feel any better?”
He scoffed, his lips curling into a humorless smile. “ No, honestly I'm actually thinking of adding rum to this coke.”
Sam smiled a little thinking he was kidding. “ Yeah right you don't drink.”
Robby’s gaze dropped to his drink, his fingers tightening around the glass. “ might be the time to start, I've been screwing everything up since Tory put us on break and it's not even affecting her.”
“ Like salt on an open cut.”
“ Yeah, she's fighting better than ever.”
Sam leaned forward letting her arms rest on the table. “ Tory chose the other side and I feel terrible for her but we can't keep letting her get in our heads like this. We just have to accept she's against us.”
You huffed, rolling your eyes. “ You guys are acting like we're at war, she's not against us.” You said with a shake of your head. “ She picked a different team because she was vulnerable, and a master manipulator took advantage of that. It’s not that simple. You of all people know that, you were talking about it last night.”
Sam stared over your shoulders without replying, her facing falling. “ I'm gonna get some air.” She said getting up.
Both you and Robby turned confused  following her gaze to the door. That’s when you saw them—Tory, Kwon, and a few of their teammates walking in, looking every bit like they owned the place.
Kwon stared at you and gave you a little nod. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he made his way across the bar.
Your back straightened unconsciously, and you had to put your hands in your lap to stop yourself from messing with your hair.
Kwon stopped beside you, his smirk growing wider. “ Hey,” he said smoothly, his eyes locking with yours. “ Dance with me?”
Before you could say anything, Robby’s chair scraped back as he stood abruptly, squaring his shoulders. “ She’s not interested.”
Kwon barely glanced at Robby, he only had eyes for you. “ I’m pretty sure she can speak for herself, man.”
“ Robby cool off, it's fine.” You said, trying to defuse the situation.
Robby frowned, his jaw tight, but he didn’t say anything else.
“What do you say?” Kwon asked, his voice low enough that it felt like the rest of the room disappeared.
You hesitated, glancing at Robby, who was still standing stiffly. Then you looked back at Kwon.
“ Okay,” you said, taking his hand.
Kwon’s smirk turned into a genuine smile as he led you to the small dance floor at the center of the bar. “ I didn’t think you’d say yes.”
“ Why?” You looked up at him.
“ You don’t like disappointing your team.” He huffed.
“ One dance won’t kill them.”
“ Just one?” He teased, slipping an arm around your waist. “ I plan to keep you here all night.”
You felt your cheeks get warm, but put an arm around his neck anyway. “ One,” you repeated, though your lips twitched into a smile.
“ Counter offer, ten and a kiss.” He said with a sly grin.
Your jaw dropped, and your eyes went wide. “ Damn you got a drink in you already?”
“ Nah don’t drink in season.”
“ That right?”
He hummed swaying with you to the beat. “ That’s right.”
“ Five and I teach you how to two-step and a shoulder dip.”
“ Deal.” He said almost before you could finish talking. “ Sounds like you know your stuff.”
“ My mom used to take me and Robby to bars all the time, I learned a few things.” You took both his hands and held them up by your sides. “ A two step is easy, all you do is step forward with your left foot, then follow with your right foot. Then go back, right foot first and repeat.”
“ Just go back and fourth?”
“ Yep, super simple.”
So that’s what you did, a back and forth two step until he seemed to get bored and spinning you. “ Alright now show me the other one.”
“ Okay,” you laughed. “ First thing, take my hand,” he did. “ Now you're going to spin me out, away from you.”
He did as told, spinning you out and pulling you back in, “ Like that?” He asked.
“ Just like that,” You encouraged. “ But when you pull me back, spin me in twice, so towards your body.”
He did both steps again.
“ Perfect next cross your arm over and slide while I drag my hand around your back.” You explained while showing the moves you were talking about. “ Now I do a half spin so my back is facing you and I am going to fall.”
“ A trust fall?”
“ Yes. There is more but I don’t think your ready to carry me on your shoulders.”
He scoffed playfully, “ I can, promise.”
“ Swear you won’t drop me?”
“ Yes.” He says, “ what’s the saying?”
“ Cross my heart?”
“ And hope to die, yes that one.”
“ Okay in that case, grab my waist.” He did. “ I’m going to jump onto your shoulders, on three ready?”
“ Yes.” He effortlessly picked you up, and ducked his head under your spit legs.
“ Next I’m going to swing my left leg around and you are going to keep hold of my right, when I do that my body will fall into your arms while I keep an arm around the back of your neck to support you. When we both are standing again you will spin me one more time with the hand you have around my thigh. Got it.”
“ Understood.” He yelled back over the music.
“ Ready?”
“ Yep.” He confirmed.
You did everything you said you were going to, albeit a little clumsy, with it being his first time, but at least he didn’t drop you like the guy who taught you did. He was spotting Robby, who was holding you, the two of you were only ten and thought it’d be a cool trick to show mom. Instead you got your first concussion, and Robby broke his nose when he fell face first into the floor.
Kwon steadied you as you spin back to him, his arm loosely draped around your waist. His grin was wide and infectious, “ real speed this time?”
He didn’t wait for your answer before he spun you out and back in while you giggled.
