long venty post abt rehearsal making me Sad today :’^)
sighs so i’m one of the leads in this 3 act show, it’s a small cast of characters and our first act is naturally the Longest but we haven’t ran it in like... weeks lmao and not since our soft off book week started, so running it today was like.. lowkey a bit rough
we have a student director and a stage manager, the stage manager is supposed to be on book to give lines as per norm etc etc, but the stage manager has been like.. gone for the past few weeks for w/e personal reasonings, so our director has been givin lines n stuff and today was SM’s first time doin that instead.... and Oh boy
like as a person she’s already kinda [offputting] and [cold], and i remember before she had her leave she was like... weirdly adamant in knowing the script better than the actors did?? which like for things like [set] and [blocking] sure ig whatever, but she was trying to tell us things about the like.. story and reasoning behind actions we were supposed to make as if we haven’t been the ones studying this script for the past like over a month
anyway, she was being like... really rude whenever me and my scene partner called line today? and wouldn’t just give us the line, she’d give us some fuckin offhanded comment like “ *making a big deal out of not knowing where we were at* .. well [name of my character] skipped this whole part at the bottom of pg 54 lol” and id have to repeat like ‘‘,, okay well can you just give me the line at [wherever] then’’ which like is just frustrating and already takes me more out of character than just calling line does.. and naturally her being a way everytime we tried to call line just made me and the scene partner uncomfortable calling line so we’d stand there for longer and fuck up lines we did know and i made eye contact with one of the other actresses sitting in the audience several times every time SM said anything to me because she was just being like Vehemently rude and it was very clearly not just a me being sensitive thing lol
said actress told me she was gonna say something to the director when i came to sit down for a five, and then immediately pulled her aside, and then the director came back to pull the SM aside and i like immediately started ~sobbing~ bc it’s not that deep i know it’s mostly bc the actress saw me like [on the verge of tears] on stage several times that things had to be said and :’^) the director came back and like gave us the natural “you guys are doing great this is a long and hard act im proud of all of you” speech and then asked if it’d be more productive to keep going or to shotgun lines instead or to just call rehearsal and i ended up just opting to leave bc continuing to run the act was Going to give me problems
i learned later (as of the last like half hour actually) that the SM was bragging to one of my mutual friends that she like.. learned the entire show in just a week and just like i’m so Upset bc for 1 that is just like.... Bullshit lmfao like i refuse to believe you know every single person’s lines in a 3 act show i Saw that you were reading the script.... but also like weird flex?? good for you i guess ???
i know it’s very much Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things and im disproportionally upset about it, but like.... idk college theatre has been sort of a [safe spot i’ve been working on] given the events of like how fucking bad and toxic people were to me when i did theatre in hs, i’ve only Just Now been getting back into the hang of things and starting to be comfortable acting and ive been making a lot of good process and then shit like this happens and it’s just so.... weirdly triggering :’^) something about being the only person crying with everyone looking at me reassuring me that i can indeed Act like makes me really fucking sick to my stomach
and just like.. idk i can’t do theatre as a major so im really [hanging on] as much as i can to it outside of that context so things like this just Hurt a lot like i’m losing out on this one thing that i’m going to lose in three years time and am never gonna have again (despite knowing that this is not True necessarily) idk ksgnjdskgj [flops] top ten kayla upset over things that are not That serious moments

Shotgun - JJ (Outer Banks)
Request: Hi! I love your writingg💞 if youd like can you do a jj fic where the reader is in love with him for a long time and one day kiara (her bff) just blurts it out while they were drunk or smth? You can make it take a sad turn or fluff✨
Request: #18 from the kiss list with JJ? :)
A/N: I wrote this whole thing and then I deleted it and started over because I didn’t like any of it so this is attempt number two.
Outer Banks Masterlist
///
“Come here,” JJ reached across the space separating the two of you, grabbing your wrist. It far too early in the morning to be awake let alone for JJ to be already smoking but it’s been a rough night and you didn’t want him to feel like you were criticizing him for being upset. He pulled on your wrist and with your freehand you grabbed the edge of the hot tub, trying not to fall in. You weren’t entirely sure how long John B planned to be on that fishing trip with Ward, all any of you knew was that you were supposed to be ready when he got back.
“JJ,” you warned as he held your hand up, a joint between his lips, and guided your fingers into a fist with his hands. “JJ I already told you I’m not shotgunning.”
When he’d asked earlier if you wanted a hit you had claimed that you didn’t feel like passing the joint back and forth, it was annoying and he always ended up hogging it anyway. You’d get barely two tokes and he’d have the rest of the joint smoked before you were done exhaling. Besides, you hadn’t really been alone with JJ since Kiara’s brilliant drunken announcement at the beginning of summer. You’d hung out, it’d be insane to assume that you would forgo your chance to take part in this gangbusters gold hunt just because of one embarrassing moment.
-
It had just been the five of you at the Chateau with beer heisted from various places. John B had found some of his dad’s old liquor in the cabinet beneath the sink and Kiara had helped herself to the Jose Cuervo, claiming that she was seasoned enough to handle it. Drinking it straight from the bottle contradicted that statement but it didn’t really matter, she was fun when she was drunk. She’d tell anyone anything, but she was fun.
Halfway through the bottle, while dancing with JJ, she finally hit ‘drunk enough to spill everyone’s deepest secrets’. She was also too drunk to whisper. You were sitting with John B and Pope when Kiara wrapped her arm around JJ’s neck and drew him in close like she was going to tell him something she didn’t want anyone to hear.
Of course, everyone heard her tell him that you liked him, she even pointed at you as she spoke, as if he didn’t already know who you were.
“She’s like totally in love with you!” Kiara exclaimed, smile brightening her features, “she talks about you all the time. She’s like ‘oh my god did you see JJ today he looked so hot’ and ‘I wish JJ didn’t just think of me as a friend’. And she said she was sick last weekend when she left the party but it was cause you hooked up with that touron.”
“I’ve never seen her this drunk before,” John B whispered.
You were too busy trying to shrink into the sofa cushions to worry about John B’s attempt to make excuses for her. Your whole body was warm with embarrassment and, as much as you wanted to, you couldn’t stop staring at JJ. He, of course, was staring right at you, speechless for once. Kiara was giggling as Pope attempted to guide her into a chair and convince her to drink water.
“I should-” you stood up, grabbing your backpack and heading for the front door. Despite the beer fogging up your brain you managed to run all the way home. You couldn’t believe Kiara had told JJ, and everyone else in the room, that you liked him. You knew she was drunk but that was a sworn secret.
-
After Cuervo-gate, as Kiara had dubbed it following the massive stream of texts and calls apologizing had finally subsided, you decided your best plan of action was to pretend nothing had ever happened. And also to never, ever, be alone with JJ. If you weren’t alone with him than you could just be friends and distract yourself with other people and he couldn’t tell you how he didn’t like you back. That plan had worked all summer until you were certain that he didn’t even remember the night in question.
Maybe that was why you let your guard down long enough to come outside and sit with him.
“This will work, trust me.” He nodded his head toward your hand, comically puffing his cheeks out. You rolled your eyes, scooting closer to him and leaning in. You pressed your mouth to one end of your fist while JJ pressed his mouth to the other end, eyes meeting yours. You felt your heart beat pick up at the close proximity but you tried to stay calm. JJ released his breath, smoke pouring out from the spaces between your fingers. You pulled away a little prematurely, JJ still holding your wrist in one hand.
“Well that was the bust I said it would be.”
“You didn’t have your hand fisted right.”
“That’s what she said,” you mumbled and JJ snorted out a laugh. The joint went back between his lips while he maneuvered your fingers around again to try and meld them into a fist. “It’s not gonna work JJ.”
“Oh ye of little faith.”
You were right though, just like last time the smoke seeped out of your fist but even less made it into your mouth. While the problem could’ve easily been that you had never actually shotgunned before you were blaming it on the close proximity between you and JJ. It was bad enough that whenever he was around, your entire body felt like it was overloaded with butterflies, but with him so close you were practically melting. When it didn’t work he slumped against the seat, somewhat defeated that his plan hadn’t worked.
“Just pass me the blunt...we’ll survive.” You said, holding out your hand.
JJ passed the blunt to you. He watched as you placed it between your lips, inhaling, and he smiled. As you moved the blunt away from your mouth JJ was quick to move, grabbing your jaw and leaning forward, mouth just barely over yours. You tried to close your mouth but his fingers dug in to your jaw, working your mouth open. He inhaled as the smoke you were holding in seeped out of your mouth. His eyes were open, staring at you.
You pulled away when he had exhaled, leftover smoke seeping out his nose and mouth. “Don’t do that, you scared me.”
“I told you shotgunning would work.” He replied, proud smile on his face.
“Hardly.” You replied.
He took the blunt back from you and took a hit, raising an eyebrow at you as he repeated his actions, this time more deliberate because he wasn’t taking you by surprise. You kept your lips parted as JJ leaned in, this time just brushing his lips against yours, an action easy enough to play off as an accident. He exhaled, practically blowing the smoke into your mouth. You were too busy staring at his face close up that you completely missed the shotgun.
You pulled back, coughing more from embarrassment than anything, JJ’s hand dropping from your face as you turned away from him. “I should see if Kiara and Pope are up yet.”
“Hey, wait-” JJ reached for you again, this time settling on the hem of your shirt as you stood on the bench in the hot tub. “You aren’t mad about this right?”
Kiara and Pope had been livid until they saw the bruises from his dad. You’d been shocked by the extent of the injuries as well but you hadn’t been mad about him blowing the 25k. As easy as it was to brush JJ off as reckless you knew he would never do something to compromise his friends unless he was really hurting.
“No.”
“So, what are you mad about?”
“I’m not. I'm fine.” You replied, crossing your arms and looking back toward the house. He still had a grip on your shirt.
“You’ve been weird all summer. Is it cause of what Kie said?” JJ asked, “she was just drunk, you know how she gets.”
“She wasn’t just drunk JJ,” you sighed, he was your best friend, you couldn’t lie to him. And this adventure had the air of life or death attached to it that had you thinking regrets weren’t worth having. “She was telling the truth.”
“So why’d you split?”
“Because then you wouldn’t be able to tell me that you didn’t like me and I could pretend none of it happened.” You replied, “I was avoiding you because I thought you’d want to talk about it.”
“Hey! You guys are up, I want to work on the pulley. I think I figured it out.” Pope called from the porch, breaking the bubble you’d created.
You turned to look over at him, JJ still holding your shirt and offering a thumbs up with his other hand. “We’ll be right there.” You promised. Pope nodded, heading back inside to get Kiara.
JJ finally let you go, getting out of the hot tub. He held his blunt between his lips and put his hands out, offering you help.
“I did climb into this on my own.” You noted.
“Just let me.” JJ wrapped an arm around your waist and you held on as he lifted you over the side of the hot tub and placed you on the ground.
“We should head in-”
“I would’ve told you I liked you too, if you hadn’t cut out.” JJ finally said, pulling you back into the conversation you had been trying to get out of a second time.
“What?”
“What, you thought I didn’t? Come on, you know me better than that. I would’ve told you that I like you and that I wouldn’t fuck this up.” He replied. He turned as he moved passed you, walking backwards toward the Chateau, “you coulda been macking on me all summer but you had to play it cool.”
“Why didn’t you say something?” You exclaimed, “JJ! Wait!”

going for burgers | aaron autumn alex james
after practicing their powers on each other, aaron, autumn and alex decide to go get food. and aaron decides to invite james.
Aaron shrugged slightly. He hadn't but he wasn't so sure they'd mind. If anything, it'd keep them from asking him too many questions. "They're nice people. They won't say no," he promised. It'd probably be good for them to get to know the rest of the team anyway. If they had to fight together they had to trust each other, right? Otherwise what reason did they have to have each other's backs? "Come on," he said, nodding towards the door and walking out. "I invited James to hang out. Who wants to eat?" he asked.
Autumn grinned and slapped her hand against his. "Hell yeah. And we didn't even have to fight," she laughed. She hoped Aaron would talk to them. If not tonight then soon. There had to be a lot going on in his head. "Yeah," she sighed. "I mean, I could bring it up and make him talk but... that doesn't seem right," she admitted. Everything just felt off. "I think we'll just have to wait it out."
James thought he was a bit mad, but he was down. If nothing else, he might get a bit of a rouse out of Autumn, which he would find thoroughly enjoyable. "Alright, I'm game," he decided. He followed him out, finding the other two easily. "Do you guys have cars or do you just walk or what?" he asked curiously. He didn't have a car himself, as he tried to keep his luggage light from place to place.
Alexander grinned when she high fived him. They were secretly the best of them all and no one even would've guessed. "No, no, don't use your powers on him," he laughed a little. "He'll bring it up if he wants to. His secrets were just revealed, too. We'll give him time," he decided. He looked up when Aaron joined them, raising an eyebrow at his inviting James. "Sure, why not I guess. Yeah, I'm starved. What are we getting?"
Autumn wouldn't do that to Aaron. It'd feel wrong. She hadn't even been thrilled about using it earlier. "Yeah. It was a hard day for him," she agreed. He'd had the worst one, she thought, which was unexpected. She turned to look at Aaron with a smile that slipped a bit when she saw James. What was the point of this? Wasn't it just supposed to be the three of them? "I don't care, I just want fries," she sighed finally.
Aaron was glad that he'd agreed. This would be nice, he thought. He was curious to know more about James, anyway. "Rad," he smiled. He noticed the looks his friends gave him but he chose to ignore them for now. "Oh, well, I brought my car. We can take it," he shrugged. He looked between the members of the group before nodding. "Okay, that narrows our choices down to anywhere. Let's just head out and see what we find."
Alexander laughed a bit, shaking his head. "You always want fries," he teased. "Shotgun," he said, raising his hand in the air and jumping a little. He realized he could just teleport them places probably, but this was more fun. "If we're going with fries, we should either get burgers at that one place where they're a dollar on Wednesdays, or we should go to that gyro place that also has fries," he said.
James wondered how long these three had been friends. They had an interesting dynamic. Despite Autumn's subtle annoyance, they all seemed rather relaxed around each other, too. It felt like either a polyamorous relationship, or a bunch of siblings. He hadn't figured out which yet. But their comfort level with each other was unparalleled.
Autumn rolled her eyes at him. "Yeah? So?" she asked. She shot him a look when he called shotgun. Great, she'd be in the back with James. "Real descriptive. That one place or that other place," she teased. She started walking towards the elevators and hit the button. She stepped in when it arrived and hit the button again for the ground floor. "Yeah, that's fine with me," she agreed.
Aaron grinned to himself. He felt better already. Just leaving his power behind and being with his friends had eased most of the tension from his body. If only he could stop thinking about Gen, then he'd be stress free. "Alright, cool. I'm thinking burgers. I could eat a burger. They have good drink specials there. I'm thinking we could all use one of those," he offered.
Alexander shook his head again. "You're just funny," he said honestly. He shrugged, smiling at her. "You know the places I mean," he said with a small laugh. "Burgers sound good. They have good Saturday deals, you're right. I could definitely use a drink," he decided. He nudged Autumn a little. "Lighten up. Today went alright," he said quietly.
James casually relaxed Autumn and Aaron to the same level of comfort and relaxedness that Alex naturally felt. If he had to spend the night with them eating, he at least wanted them to be fun. "Do you guys go out on Saturday night regularly?" he asked curiously as he followed them into the elevator. He was interested in the way all these people connected.
Autumn shrugged. "Fries are delicious," she countered. "And I don't eat them all the time, c'mon. I am a very healthy person. Did you see my green juice?" she asked, stressing the color. She relaxed when Alex nudged her and smiled at him. "It did go alright," she agreed. This wouldn't be so bad. "Sometimes. Not always. Depends on my schedule if I can hang out," she answered James.
Aaron nodded a bit. Burgers and drinks. What a normal way to end one of the weirdest days they'd all had. "Alright, rad." He leaned against the elevator, feeling better already. He shrugged a bit. "We hang out a lot. We work together, sort of. All at the hospital," he explained. "IT, nurse, social worker," he pointed to each person as he described them. "What do you do?" he asked.
Alexander laughed when she made a big deal about the green juice. "Your green juice balances your fries then, huh?" he teased. "Aaron and I usually do, because we don't work on Saturdays. Autumn does sometimes, though," he said, elaborating on Autumn's answer. "They see all the action," he added with a small laugh.
James listened in on their banter. They were interesting. He stepped out of the elevator with them, following to where he assumed Aaron had his car. "Ah, that makes sense," he said. Of course they all did noble work. How terribly ironic. "I don't really have a job," he admitted. "I bounce around from place to place," he added.
Autumn nodded with a grin. "Uh, yeah. It sure does. What's balancing out your diet?" she teased back. She walked out with them, feeling more at ease with every step she took away from the building. "Yeah, says the guy who's probably teleporting himself on vacations when he's not hanging out with us," she joked. She found it odd that James didn't have a job. "Interesting."
Aaron started to lead the way to his car. He dug his keys from his pocket and clicked the fob. "Yeah, we're more likely to see each other. It's good to have people," he admitted. He'd spent a long time of his life having no one. "Really? Doing what?" he wondered. "Like do you just enjoy traveling?" He wondered if James was using his powers to somehow get by but he couldn't really fault him for that. He stopped at his car and opened his door before getting in.
Alexander shrugged. He didn't keep track. "I don't know. I eat alright. I exercise. What more can you ask from me?" he said with a small laugh. He made a fake offended face. "Wow, it hurts me that you think I'd take vacations secretly without rubbing it in your face," he teased. He thought it was a bit weird, but he sort of got it. Leila had said she'd known him the last time she was here, but James didn't look much older than him. "Do you not have any family or anything?"
James nodded along, shrugging a shoulder. "Doing whatever suits my fancy. Travel can be fun, but it's mostly just how I get along, really," he said honestly. He shook his head. "Anyone I cared about died a long time ago," he said honestly. "It's not a big deal though," he added. He'd been without family for a long time, and he'd stopped caring about them before they had even stopped being around.
Autumn let out a laugh and shook her head. "If you say so," she teased. She rolled her eyes at him again and grinned. "You totally would rub it in," she agreed. She didn't really understand what James was talking about if she was being honest. Everyone he cared about died? How long ago? She had so many questions. "I'm sorry," she said quietly. "You don't have anyone?" she wondered as she slipped into the car.
Aaron nodded a bit. He didn't really understand what he'd meant and he wasn't sure prying into it was his best move right now. "I mean, that doesn't sound half bad. Doing whatever you want," he grinned. Then again, having everyone he'd ever cared about be dead had to be pretty awful. "Well, maybe after we save the world you'll find someone to care about again," he said simply.
Alexander grinned and nodded. He loved how Aaron was being mature and ignoring them for the most part. He got into the car, sitting back and getting comfortable. "Do you not like, want to have anyone, or something?" he asked curiously. He wondered why he didn't at least have like a girlfriend or something. He was tall and handsome. He could totally have someone.
James got in the car, waving his hand at their concerns. "Oh no, it's nothing like that. You don't have to be sorry. I just don't really have people," he said with a shrug. He laughed a little. "Yeah, maybe. Or I'll just go back to doing whatever. Who knows really," he said nonchalantly. He wasn't really bothered with his own life.
Autumn still thought that sounded lonely. She couldn't imagine being alone all the time. It'd be too hard. Then again, they were all probably going to die in a month anyway. Maybe it was better not to be worried about people. That thought made her sad again and she sunk down in her seat a bit. She turned to look out the window, thoughts traveling elsewhere.
Aaron nodded slightly when James waved them off. He didn't get it personally but maybe that was the way James preferred to live his life. If it had worked for him this far, that was saying something. "Well, I'll probably just go back to social work after this. Wouldn't blame you if you went back to doing whatever makes you happy," he told James as he pulled out of Shield. "What about you, Alex? You going back to life as you know it?"
Alexander glanced over at Aaron when he asked his question. He thought for a moment and then shrugged. "Too soon to tell, really," he said honestly. He'd had more fun today than he had the entire time he'd worked at the hospital. Telling people how to make their emails work, or get their computers restarted wasn't his favorite thing. He was meant for more than that, even without his powers. If he had a job somewhere else, he'd take it.
James noticed Autumn get sad and gently pushed her emotions up a bit. He thought they were an interesting bunch. They all possessed these incredible powers and were content, for the most part, to just live these incredibly ordinary lives. There was maybe something he was missing all these years in practical isolation. Maybe he needed to change something in his life.
Autumn didn't really think that Alex would go back to his life. Why should he? He'd clearly had a fantastic time that day. "Well, if you guys decide not to come back to work you still have to be my friend," she told them. "You have to come visit and make time for me," she joked slightly. There was no way she'd stick with Shield. She didn't even want to help them now.
Aaron looked over at Alex for a moment. He could see him moving on to something bigger than his current life. He wouldn't be mad if he joined Shield. His attention went back to the road and he laughed. "Don't worry. We'll never pass up a chance to spend time with you." He was fully intending to go back to finding homes for kids with powers. He didn't want anyone else to end up the way that he had.
Alexander laughed when she told him he had to be her friend. "Don't worry. You can't get rid of me that easily," he said playfully. He'd never stop being their friend. He didn't know what he'd do. Maybe he could get them to give him a good reference to some other tech job. He'd always known he didn't want to do this forever, he just didn't know what it was he wanted to do.
James wondered why they were helping at all. Autumn and Aaron both seemed like they'd rather be anywhere else than there. Alex made sense, but the other two were hard to read. "Did they threaten or blackmail you guys, or are you helping voluntarily?" he asked. They seemed rather happy and content, he couldn't imagine they'd want to mess up their lives just to be nice.
Autumn found herself smiling at that. It made her feel better to know they'd still be in her life even when she left. She turned to James when he spoke and shook her head a bit. "I mean, I wasn't threatened. More guilt tripped than anything. Plus Gen said these two would be there," she explained. "And I couldn't live with myself if I was just sitting in my apartment while all of this was happening. Did they threaten you?"
Aaron raised an eyebrow slightly at that question. He let Autumn answer first before chiming in. "The girl I was seeing invited me over to tell me that she'd been sent to keep tabs on me. Then I found out about the threat." He tapped his hands on the wheel. "It's a hard thing to say no to. I tried but they already were looking at me. Gen knows about the kids I'm helping but she didn't file a report. I guess my way of thanking her is helping out."
Alexander hummed a little at that question. He wasn't really sure what he'd say they did. "Hm, I mean, he showed up at my house. Which was definitely weird. But again, I couldn't really say no," he said honestly. "I think it was sort of a mix of smooth talking, and guilt," he said with a shrug. He didn't actually know about the kids Aaron was helping, but he didn't question it. Maybe he didn't really want a lot of people to know about it.
James nodded a bit as they explained. Made sense, really. Guilt was a strong emotion. "You were dating one of them? Which one?" he asked curiously. "They didn't threaten me, but they did bribe me," he said with a small laugh. "And all that guilt stuff, too, I suppose," he added, though he felt guilt didn't really get to him as easily as it did others. He wondered about these kids, but not enough to ask.
Autumn wasn't really all that surprised that most of them had been guilted into this in some shape or form. She found that a little bothersome but what could she do about it? "They bribed you? You're getting something out of this?" she asked. "That's so messed up they knew exactly what to do to get us all to agree to this. "I hate knowing there's a file on me in their system." What if someone hacked in the way Alex did?
Aaron shrugged a bit. "Gen. I was seeing Gen." He let out a bit of a sigh. He still didn't know what any of this meant for the two of them. Everything was still too complicated to even process. One day everything was normal and the next? They were hurling their powers at each other as some alien threat approached the planet. "Weird situation all around," he muttered mostly to himself. He parked the car at the place they'd picked. "Let's get some food."
Alexander raised an eyebrow a bit. He was bribed. What were they using to bribe him? He didn't seem like he cared about enough to get bribed. "Clearly, they know what they're doing. Bad for us, but maybe good for if we can win," he said with a shrug. "It is really weird," he agreed with a small laugh. He got out of the car when Aaron did, shutting his door behind him.
James raised an eyebrow a bit, sort of surprised. "Ah, yes, the one you almost killed," he said lightly. "She seems to still be into you, for what it's worth," he teased. They didn't need to know the details of his arrangement. "Yeah, sort of. It's something between Leila and I, goes back a bit," he said with a shrug. He got out of the car when they did, following their lead into the restaurant.
Autumn turned to James to shoot him a look. "Nice one," she rolled her eyes. Why bring that up to throw in Aaron's face? She pushed out of the car and fell into step with Aaron. She patted his arm once before dropping her hand. This next month was really going to be difficult. She just wanted to eat her fries and go home to sleep. She had a lot to think about.
Aaron shrugged slightly but he was frowning. He hated that he'd hurt Gen. He hated that everyone had seen that happen. "Yeah, well, I don't know about that," he said finally. "A bribe from an alien doesn't sound all that promising to me," he joked. He led the way to the restaurant and held the door open for everyone to go inside ahead of him. At least he was more relaxed without his powers.

38 & 40? Bobo & Waverly? thank u
FFN I AO3
Summary: Waverly just needs a little hope that her childhood friend wasn’t completely a lie. Prompt #38: “Everyone keeps telling me you’re a bad guy.”
Who He Was (Fallen Series)
She hadn’t told anyone where she was going. Not Wynonna, not Doc, and not even Nicole. They would have wanted to go with her. To protect her, but this was something she had to do alone. This was something she needed to face alone, and as those gates pulled open and she saw them watching her warily, she knew they wouldn’t touch her.
No one harms the baby. My word. My law.
For those that were there in the trailer park, Bobo Del Rey’s law still stood and they wouldn’t risk his wrath by harming a hair on Waverly Earp’s head.
She’d been there before and she thought she remembered there being more people. The humans must have left the park and between how many Revenants Wynonna had put down so far in her tenure as Heir and those that had fled to Bulshar’s side, there weren’t many of those left either. Fewer than she had assumed, at any rate, and while she knew Bobo had said that he’d bring as many to the fight against the demon that had cursed them all as he was able, the Call had taken many away.
“Lost, little Earp?” a voice asked and Waverly spun, wishing now that she’d brought her shotgun with her. No. She was there in peace. This one was just trying to spook her.
“I’m looking for Bobo.”
“She’s looking for Bobo,” another Revenant chuckled, pulling Waverly’s attention in the opposite direction. “You’ve got guts, Little Sister, coming here.”
“That’s enough.”
Both Revenants shrank back at the deep, snarling voice and Waverly saw Bobo Del Rey rounding the corner, his eyes flashing red as he looked at them both. “Go.”
One word was all it took and they ran, tripping over each other to get away. She watched red fade back to blue, the darkness around his eyes easing back to his natural pale, and there was something almost worn about his expression. Like he was being stretched in too many directions these days.
He turned those tired blue eyes on her. “I told Wynonna to be patient. Not in her vocabulary, is it?”
It took her a moment to realize what his immediate thought had been. It made sense. It wasn’t like she’d gone out of her way to seek him out a great deal since he’d joined their side. “Wynonna didn’t send me. I came to see you.”
That startled him and his gaze shifted, sweeping the area. When those blue eyes came back to meet hers she saw him tilt his head, motioning to follow. She did, and as she had to quicken her own pace to keep up with his long stride a flash of memory broke loose to the front of her mind of a little girl skipping to keep up with her large, fur coat-clad friend that everyone else thought was imaginary. Her secret best friend.
Bobo led her to a trailer with a canopy stretched out from it, a foldout table and a couple of lawn chairs next to it. She saw maps of Purgatory and the surrounding area on the table, pencils lying next to them and it looked like he’d left his work very suddenly. He’d heard her voice and come running. Probably without even stopping to think about it with as quickly as he’d covered the space between the trailer and where she’d been.
“What’s so important that it’d bring you here?” he asked, his voice gruff and irritable.
“Should I not be here?”
He quirked an off-colour eyebrow at her. “Ain’t the smartest move you’ve ever made.”
“They won’t hurt me.”
“What makes you so sure?”
“You won’t let them.”
His expression was guarded, but there was a flicker of something just behind it and he pushed a short breath out through his nose, bending back over his table and his maps.
Waverly waited a long moment before walking over to one of the chairs and taking a seat, sinking down lower than she had expected in it. Silence stretched between them and he seemed content enough to let it as he studied whatever it was that he was studying, her eyes fixed on him. “I’ve been… thinking a lot about my childhood recently. About you and me and our friendship and… exactly what that meant. You were one of the most important people in my life when I was little.” He didn’t look up, but he didn’t tell her to shut up either. “You were this… giant that would chase away everything scary. Even though you never came to the house - I guess you couldn’t, could you? - I used to think that you would come scare off any monsters under my bed. They wouldn’t dare come for me because I was your angel and you would protect me.” His scribbling had slowed, so she knew he heard her, even if he was doing his damndest not to respond. Waverly pursed her lips together. “Who are you really, Bobo?”
The pencil finally stopped and she saw him hunch just a little more. “You know what I am.”
“I didn’t say what. Who. Who are you really? Wynonna told me what she saw in her vision quest. Robert Svane was a good man. He was friends with Wyatt Earp-”
“Keep your voice down,” he growled.
“- and knowing you like I did as a kid, I can believe that now. I just… everyone tells me you’re a bad guy. And you are, but you’re not. Who are you really?”
Bobo sighed, straightening and running his hand through across his now white mohawk, smoothing the wild hair down a little, and Waverly waited as patiently as she could. Finally he set his pencil down, turned, and took a seat in the chair next to hers. “Fine,” he said at last. “What do you wanna know?”
There it was. The opening she really needed. Waverly found herself smiling and she opened her mouth to let the first question tumble out, closing it again as she realized that she couldn’t ask them all at once. She had to choose one. Should she start small and work her way up? That really depended on how many questions he gave her. If he got frustrated or bored he might cut the conversation short. She had to be careful. She had to choose wisely. “Why me?” Or just ask the one that burned the deepest. That worked too. “If you’re not my father, why me?”
“I never said I was your father.”
“That doesn’t answer the question.”
“You’re kin.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means you’re kin.” He reached a hand up, his thumb working at the inside of the bridge of his nose. “It’s not a simple question. Not a simple answer and… There are bigger things to focus on before I can tell you. You ain’t a Revenant, if that’s what you’re scared of.”
“I’m not scared.” He snorted a laugh and she shot him a glare. “Fine. Why’d you stop coming to see me when Daddy died?”
She watched the very subtle changes in his expression and there was a hint of sadness there. “I was… trying to do right by you. Angels don’t need to live in a demon’s shadow.”
Her lips curled just a little at the corners and she caught his gaze. “Has anyone ever told you that you’re kinda a drama queen?”
“There’s that judgy Waverly again,” he teased, and there was something about it that felt right. That hint of a smile that made it to his eyes, the way his tone lightened. She remembered it. She had held onto it for a while, hoping that he’d come back for her. He’d told her once that he’d thought about saving her too. If he’d asked her then, she would have gone willingly. She would have lived out her childhood with her Bobo, hoisted up on his shoulders and sleeping curled up in his coat. She could have very easily have told him yes. She would have told him yes.
Waverly blinked, a tear slipping down her cheek and she sniffed hard. Another question. She needed another one that wasn’t quite as close to home. Her thoughts about what he’d said in that treehouse led to the next one. “Willa. What was the deal there?”
“The deal?” he echoed.
“Did you love her?”
There was a long pause and he refused to meet her gaze. “Yeah.”
“Did she love you?”
“Sometimes.”
“How did that… work? You have to see how creepy that was, right? I mean, I get that everyone’s really young compared to you, but, I mean, you stole her away at thirteen.”
“I didn’t steal her anywhere. I saved her when the others wanted to do…” He stopped, his teeth clicking together and he looked like he was considering his phrasing. “Wanted to do terrible things,” he finished slowly. “Everything else came later. On her terms. It was always on her terms.”
Right up until the end, Waverly thought as she watched him. He looked so beaten down, so hurt, and she wondered if he’d heard the words Wynonna had told her that Willa had said. She’d left him to die. She’d been willing to leave him to die to get free. He had been collateral damage just like she and Wynonna had been.
She reached forward on impulse, her fingers touching the back of his hand and pulling his attention. “You put on a really good act, but I think they’re wrong. You’re not as bad of a guy as you want them to think.”
He blinked and she could see the way his eyes glistened just a little, trying very hard to hide those emotions. It was dangerous for him to show them, surrounded by the other Revenants like they were. These demons that he had to earn the respect of to make sure they didn’t desert them all for Bulshar.
Waverly gave his hand a quick squeeze before releasing it. “It’s okay. Your secret’s safe with me. I won’t tell.”
Bobo huffed and stood, gathering up his maps and rolling them. “C'mon.”
“Are those the coordinates that Jeremy’s been waiting on?”
“Who?”
“Jeremy. You know, about this tall, totally geeky in all the best ways? Used to work for BBD.”
“Oh. Junior.”
“You didn’t know his name, did you?”
He shrugged, the glint of a smile back, and Waverly rolled her eyes theatrically as she followed him towards the gate. Things weren’t going to somehow return to the magic, woodland princess fairy tale games of her childhood, but there was a chance they could find something new. He’d been her dearest friend once, then gone, and then her enemy. Sometimes things came around full circle. They took time, but she’d gotten what she had come there for. Hope. Hope that he hadn’t used her and hope that he wasn’t lying to them now. Hope that the man that Wynonna had met in her vision quest was the same one that had pulled her out of the icy waters as a little girl. Hope that she could know who he was, not just what he was.
Notes: I’ve been having trouble with a Bobo and Doc fic I’m working on, so I decided to dabble in some Bobo and Waverly feels. That always seems to help.

arwen for the otp thing
Arthur + Gwen, the mighty and historic pairing of legends, is about to be slammed into some fluff because I love that shit
((sorry this is so late!!!))Anyway,  my headcanons! [And here’s the ask meme if anyone wants to send me another pairing name! Preferably BBC Merlin, Sherlock, or a platonic Harry Potter or Labyrinth pairing?]
Okay so this is gonna take place kinda in a Modern!Reincarnation!AU but before Merlin and Arthur find each other again.
_____________________-
1) Who rocks the Ferris Wheel seat and who flips out and begs them to stop?
~~Honestly I think Gwen would bc she thinks it’d be funny to watch Arthur squirm, and he wouldn’t even be able to get mad because her laughter clears the negativity from any area immediately
2) Who is always horny and will have sex at any time, at any place and at any time?
~~I wanna say neither? But probably more likely Arthur?
3) Who is more into taking showers/baths together? Who tries to make it relaxing and who tries to make it sexy time?
~~bathtime is a mutually relaxing, kinda sacred time in which they wash each other’s cute, freckled shoulders and Arthur immensely enjoys playing with Gwen’s hair.
4) Who likes to walk around the house naked and who tells the other to go put some clothes on?
~~Arthur walks around naked, or at least half naked, all. the. time. As if we don’t get enough of that in the canon show, this artwork from deheerkonjin proves that it’s a pretty widely accepted thing. (WARNING! link leads to VERY NSFW Merlin/Arthur fan art!) // yeah I know that link is switching it up from Arwen, but it proves my point- he’s an au naturale kinda guy
,5) Who sleeps on the couch when they get into a fight?
~~Even though Arthur is a stubborn ass, he’d always let his queen take the bed :*
6) Who takes photos of the other while they sleep?
~~I wanna say it’s Gwen. In a modern!AU, I think she’d make a pretty good photographer! Plus, she treasures her loved ones above anything- with the invention of a camera, she’d be snapping and savoring those keepsakes for ages.
7) Who said “I love you” first? and who ends their arguments in a fight with “Because I love you”?
~~Arthur said it first  (p sure it’s that way in canon too), and then Gwen would definitely end an argument with that before storming out tearily, leaving Arthur to sit there and curse himself while his heart slowly dies :’(
8) Who likes to wear the others sweatshirts?~~They both switch sometimes! Arthur’s usually fit her pretty well, a little big but cozy..... and hers just... well let’s say it comes up a little short in all directions, but it always amuses her, so he sticks with it. Plus, her clothes always smell like flowers!
9) Who wakes the other up in the middle of the night to tell them a cool dream they had? Who has the most nightmares, and who sings them back to sleep after?
~~Gwen often dreams of the “old days” when everyone was together and happy, and reminisces about these times with Arthur. Arthur is haunted by nightmares and flashbacks about the final battles, and Gwen sings him back to sleep with the folksy lullabies that the village people knew.
10) Who is more likely to cheat?
~~Look we all know what happened between Gwen and Lancelot, I love Gwen, but if she didn’t feel secure/cemented in her relationship with Arthur, she’d be prone to wander. Once Arthur proves his devotion to her, however, she’s 100% faithful.
11) Who makes fun of the other for having a crush on them, and who has to remind them that they are in a relationship?
~~ ooh I honestly don’t know this one, I’ve thought about it for a few minutes and I’m stumped
12) Who starts a food fight in the kitchen?
~~Arthur plays with his food because he can’t cook worth a damn. He playfully tosses things at Gwen, and she’d pretend to be stern about it, but she would give in pretty quickly. :)
13) Who initiates duets? and who is the better singer?
~~ Gwen often sings while she works, and what a beautiful voice she has! Arthur would be the one to join in rather obnoxiously, much in the style of a shanty singer at The Rising Sun, but they have a good time.
14) Who starts the hand holding? Who grabs the others butt? Who slides their arm around their waist? Who likes to put their fingers in the belt loops?
~~ Gwen loves hand-holding... and butt-grabbing. Arthur’s butt is a grab-magnet. Arthur loves putting his arm(s) around his loved ones, and in belt loops.
15) Who likes writes the others name on their wrist?
~~Gwen has a lot of nice drawing pens and will doodle all over wrists and ankles :p
16) Who is more seductive when they are drunk? and who is louder in bed?
~~ARTHUR FOR BOTH, TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE POSSIBLE
17) Who is more protective?
~~Arthur would jump in front of a rampaging boar for Gwen, but Gwen probably has a whole network of people looking out for Arthur when she can’t access him directly, so really it’s both but in different ways? Also, Gwen would kick ass with a sword if necessary
18) Who talks to the other while they are sleeping?
~~Arthur is v mumbly in his sleep
19) Who drives and who has the window seat?
~~ Gwen drives because she definitely adapted to the modern life a lot quicker than Arthur. He rides shotgun to fiddle with the radio and try to help navigate (fun fact: she probably already knows where she’s going)
20) Who falls asleep in the others lap and who carries them to bed?
~~Gwen often nods off on Arthur and he happily carries her to bed and tucks her in :’)
21) Who cuts the others hair?
~~ Gwen cuts Arthur’s hair! If Arthur tried to approach Gwen’s hair like that, his hands would get swatted away at lightning speed. #Don’tTouchMyCurls
22) Who is super bad at sexting? and who sends them encouraging messages throughout the day?
~~Arthur is really bad at sexting but makes up for it with real-life technique, so.... also, Gwen always sends cute messages throughout the day
23) Who thinks they are not good enough for the others love? and who’s more afraid of loosing the other? Who thinks they keep messing up, only for the other to tell them they don’t need to worry?
~~I don’t like to think about these sad things :(  But I will tell you that in The Once And Future King (by T.A. Barron), Arthur dealt with a lot of insecurity issues and it added so much depth and color to his character. Gwen is always there to reassure him, telling him that no matter the pressures their lives put on them, they will always remember their sweet and humble beginnings.
24) Who starts random slow dancing with the other in the kitchen? Who holds the other just above the ground and kisses them?
~~ARTHUR ON BOTH eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
25) Who says shitty puns and sex jokes just to see the other giggle and blush?
~~ listen. Gwen has such an awful sense of humour that you would never see coming. Filthiest jokes ever, coupled with shameful puns? Gold.
26) Who kissed first?
~~I don’t remember what it was in canon but I really feel like Gwen would just lose her control after a certain amount of mutual pining (over the class status divide thing) and lay a big one on him and he’d be swept completely off his feet
27) Who orders take out at two in a morning? and who wakes the other up at three in the morning to go downstairs with them to get a glass of water because it’s too dark?
~~  “Gwen. I’m hungry”“.....Arthur it’s literally 2am. Go back to sleep.”“I can’t! I’m starving! I feel like I could eat a horse!” “Well I have a big day at work tomorrow, I’m not getting up to cook.”“Fine. I’m ordering food.” ----one hour later, five minutes after his head hits the pillow again---“Gwen....?”“.....what.”“Can you please get me some water?” “.....are you kidding me?”“I heard some weird noises coming back up the stairwell and I’m not too keen on poking around down there right now....pleeeeeease?”“Oh, fine.”“I love you!!!!”“Love you too....”
28) Who writes poems/stories and love songs about the other? Do they sing the songs the write for them?~~Arthur has so many secret poems and songs that he’s written, but never shares them because he’s scared that everyone will tease him.
29) Who does some crazy stunt to try and impress the other and who ends up driving them to the emergency room after it backfires?~~Arthur is the showboat that ends up hurting himself, Gwen is the one who drives him to the emergency room, slightly panicked but mostly exasperated
30) Who is embarrassed when they have to wear their glasses and who thinks they look super cute?~~Arthur. detests. his reading glasses. Gwen finds them adorable- “so scholarly!”
