Commission for anon
A/N: This is a part 2 of this other commission.
On the edge
Minotaur (Ambrose) x fem!reader || dom/sub, edging, exhibitionism, dirty talk, humiliation (light), degradation, size kink, phone sex, sex toys
“My co-worker really liked your pic,” he said nonchalantly as you prepared a sandwich.
He was sitting in front of you on the kitchen island, and you bet he could hear your heart going crazy inside your chest at his words. You knew he was teasing you the same way you were teasing him. You were more than aware of what pic he meant. The pic you sent him from your work mirror with your shirt up and your tits out, the one you specifically took for him. To tease him. To drive him wild.
“Wa-what?” You stuttered, your brain stopping for a second at his words.
He was eating as he spoke. “You decided to be a little slut and send me dirty pics in the middle of the day, so when the pic arrived I was showing him something on my phone and he saw it.” Your whole body was vibrating with anticipation, there was an edge to his voice and you couldn’t place the meaning. But he kept talking. “He complimented your tits, which I agreed on because they looked magnificent with those pretty piercings I did,” he kept munching on his snack like your pussy wasn’t getting drenched across the island, your hands trembling as the idea of somebody seeing your dirty pic made you hornier than expected. “And then I come home to you dressing like that…” He looks you up and down over the counter.
You almost kept silent, but your inner brat couldn’t stop itself. “Like what?”
“Don’t play coy now, sunshine. Do you think I haven’t noticed you wearing all those short shirts around me lately? Are you expecting me to fuck you every chance I get?” His smirk was teasing and your pussy was already so wet you couldn’t stop yourself from rubbing your tights together trying to get some friction. “Maybe I should… Maybe I should make you my cock-slave and fuck you whenever and wherever I wanted.” You choked on a breath, a tiny whimper escaping your mouth as you grabbed the counter with all your strength. “Yeah, I thought you’d like that, such a little brat who gets tongue tied every time she’s horny enough…”
He walked to you, his hoofs making an ominous sound as he stepped into your personal space. His big hands found your face and he pressed your cheeks made your lips pucker. He leaned down for a peck, and you followed him, trying to deepen the kiss. He just chuckled as you groaned low and needy.
“Always so greedy…” He patted your head, making you preen under the touch. “I’m leaving, now. See you later.” And then he turned around and left you staring at his ass.
“Wha- what?!” You half screamed, running after him to the door.
He turned around as he was putting on a jacket, his sweatpants looking indecent against the bulge in his pants. “I have a tattoo appointment, will be back for dinner. Be good,” he reminded you as he left.
It took you less than five minutes to stop being good. You didn’t want to be good. He made you all needy and desperate with his dirty talk and then left you hanging. That was very rude of him, he deserved to be teased, he deserved to be shown what he was missing because he went to work instead of fucking you against the kitchen counter.
So you laid on the sofa and took a couple more dirty pics to send to him. The pose was basic, but you made sure your dripping pussy was framed prettily as your finger rubbed over your clit. It looked obscene against your screen and you had to hit send before you blushed so hard all your brain blood went to your cheeks. You weren’t exactly shy about being naughty, but sometimes you still had a bit of doubt about sending him dirty pics, but he always appreciated them, so you kept doing it.
Not even two seconds after the pic was sent, his name flashed against your screen with an incoming call. You picked up, biting your lip, trying to stop the giggle from escaping. “What are you doing, sunshine?” You could hear voices in the background, he was probably entering the shop, not far away from your house.
“No-nothing. Just sending my boyfriend some pics, can’t I do that?” You tried to sound innocent, but you knew your tone was only bratty. And his responding grunt confirmed it.
“Oh, yes, sunshine, of course you can do that.” His voice was sugar sweet and a shiver ran down your spine. You knew what that tone meant. It meant you were in trouble, and you couldn’t contain your anticipation, your whole body shivering. “Now, now… If you are so eager to be a slut, I want you to go to our room and grab that pretty dildo I bought you, the one with the remote control.” You knew which one he meant, the one he could control from his phone, the one that made you cum so hard you sprayed the wall across the bed as you showered him in your juices.
“And what if I don’t want to?” You asked instantly.
He chuckled, amused by your bratty-ness. “Then you’d be adding punishments to your future.”
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, Ambrose,” you teased, the smirk on your face so big you could hear it in your tone.
“Come on, sunshine, go take that vibrator and I’ll play with your pussy as I tattoo my client. Wouldn’t you like that? Knowing I’m hard as I put ink in somebody’s skin? Knowing you are at home panting and getting wetter and wetter for my cock?” His words were indecent.
“O-okay,” you finally accepted, getting up and walking into the room slowly. You took out the vibrator and laid down on the bed, legs open as you played with your pussy with the toy. You pushed it inside slowly, enjoying the burn of the plastic.
You could hear some fabric moving across the phone and his next words did catch you off guard: “Open the pic I just sent you, sunshine, I want you to know what you do to me with your slutty attitude and your dirty pics.” Your heart skipped a beat as you fumbled with your phone to open the chat.
Right there in your phone was a pic of him sitting down on the floor, in front of a big mirror, and his dick was clear as day inside his sweatpants, framed by his big hand. Before you could even answer with words, a low groan left your mouth.
The air left your lungs. “Fuck,” was the only word that you could muster. He looked like sex on a stick, well… more like he had a huge stick you wanted to lick.
“Is the vibrator inside of you already?” You hummed an affirmative, trying to focus on his voice and not the feeling of fullness inside your pussy. You whimpered softly.
“Are you okay, sunshine?” He asked bemusedly. “Let me hear you. Whimper like a little slut in heat for me.” You tried to remain quiet, to close your mouth as much as possible, but when he turned the vibrations up, you couldn’t hold yourself back. “Just like that… Such pretty sounds coming out your slutty mouth.” He turned on the vibrator inside your pussy, making you cry out again. “Maybe I should put on the speaker so everyone can hear how much of a slut you are for me, would you like that? Would you like them to hear you… again?” You panted. “Of course you’d like that, such a nasty little thing you are…” You cried out his name. “It's what you want, right? For everyone to know how absolutely desperate you are for my minotaur dick?"
He played with the intensity for a bit, turning it up and down until you were sweaty and panting. You could hear him breathing hard just by hearing you, and the fact that he was turned on by that only made things hotter for you.
“My client is outside, so you are going to be a good girl and stuff your panties in your mouth to be quiet as I tattoo them. You’ll be on speaker so you better behave. It’s a tiny thing, so it will be over soon.” You did as you were told, reaching to grab your soaked panties and stuffing them in your mouth. “You better hold yourself back from coming, sunshine, that orgasm is for me to claim, is that clear?” You whimpered around the fabric, the taste of your own juices driving you wild.
“Ngh,” was your only response as he turned the vibrations up a level.
And then he became merciless. You tried to remain calm and focused on the sound of the machine across the phone. But the low vibrations inside your pussy and all the scenarios building up in your brain were driving you insane. You couldn’t hold back the whimpers and a couple of groans.
It didn’t last long, just as he said, maybe around twenty minutes, but by the time he cleared his throat and you heard the client leaving, you were about to collapse. Your whole body was tense with the force of holding back the slow-build orgasm inside of you.
Then his voice made you focus a bit. “I’m done, sunshine. You did so well, my client only heard you moan a couple times, but they liked it. I could see it in their eyes. They liked how naughty you were being, how slutty you sounded…” You groaned again and he laughed. “Just like that, such a good slutty human for me.” He turned down the vibrations and you whimpered, begging for more. "In a second. First, send me a pic of your pussy stretching around that pretty vibrator. This time I might keep it to myself.” Or he might show it to others was left in the air and it only made you hotter.
You did as you were told and positioned your phone in the right angle to show him everything. All ideas of embarrassment were left behind a long time ago, when he first started edging you and you weren’t so desperate your eyes were teary. (You made sure your teary eyes were out of the picture, not wanting him to see how badly you needed to come.)
You could hear him cursing across the phone when the pic arrived. He said something to somebody you couldn’t hear, but next phrase left you shivering: “I’m coming home. You better not come before I get there, good luck sunshine,” he said as he turned the vibrator to full intensity. You screamed his name, and you heard his hoofs against the pavement as he ran.
Normally it was a good fifteen minutes of walk from the tattoo parlor to your house, and you didn’t know if you could hold back that much. You were almost tempted to stop the vibrator, to pull it out, but deep down you knew you wouldn’t do that. You wanted him to find you like that, you wanted to be good for him.
Luckily for you, he was as eager as you were, because soon after, you heard the front door opening as you screamed his name again. Your brain was unfocused. You could barely understand what was happening anymore, all your body was focused on a single point: your filled pussy.
The bedroom door opened, finally, as you were teary eyed and panting around the gag. Ambrose only smiled at you, taking his phone out of his pocket. “Say cheese, sunshine.” You looked at him just in time for him to take a pic of your desperate self squirming on the mattress, your pussy still stretched around the vibrator as he turned the intensity up a notch.
He approached the bed, taking off the panties and kissing your messy cheek as you whimpered. He laughed as you begged him to let you come. “Please, please, please…”
And then Ambrose pulled out the vibrator.
“Oh, sunshine…” His tone was so condescending you would have snapped at him if you weren’t completely on edge. “You look so pathetic right now, such a greedy little hole all hungry. Do you want to come? Is that so?” You whimpered something you hoped he knew was an affirmative. “How unlucky of you… Your punishment has just started.”
“Wha-what?” Your brain wasn’t comprehending anything he was saying. All your neurons were focused in the urging heat in your lower region. You were so close you could almost taste the orgasm. “But you…” You tried to argue, but he cut you.
“You are not coming tonight,” he pushed the vibrator against your clit and you cried out, chanting his name as your eyes blacked out and your body thrashed against the bed. But he already said it, he wasn’t going to let you come.
Fuck.

2.20 Making It Right
Farrah: Are you sure this is safe? What if you’re being ambushed?
Chantal: It’s fine. I think.
Farrah: [screaming] AHH! What was that???
Chantal: A squirrel. I think I would’ve felt safer if I came by myself.
Lilian: Hi Chantal, thanks so much for responding to my message. This is my friend Kayla.
Kayla: It’s nice to meet you, Chantal.
Chantal: Kayla Flemming? You two know each other? Wow, Ambrose was right, you really did have someone on the inside!
Lilian: Kayla and I have known each other since we were kids. Who’s this?
Chantal: This is my best friend, Farrah.
Farrah: Shh! Don’t use my real name! Uh, I’ll just wait over there and make sure no one’s coming.
Lilian: I’m sure you’re wondering what’s going on here, so I'll just cut to the chase. A few months ago, my sister Julianne used one of the SNOOT lubes and suffered some pretty bad chemical burns. She had some nerve damage and scarring that left her in a lot of pain.
Chantal: Oh my God, that’s awful!
Lilian: Yeah, it really is. She wanted to contact a lawyer, but she couldn’t afford to. But she knew whatever was in that lube was too caustic to be safe. She wanted to warn others, so she left a review. Ambrose contacted her and asked her to take the review down. She even offered her hush money. But my sister refused.
Chantal: Good for her! I can’t believe Ambrose did that. Well, I guess I can.
Lilian: It gets worse. Ambrose flew off the handle when she refused to remove the review. Unfortunately, my sister used her full name. A few days later, someone made an anonymous call to her job with some false accusations. She was fired and had to stop her medical treatments. We know it was someone associated with SNOOT, but we have no way to prove it. That’s when I contacted Kayla.
Kayla: I knew Ambrose was all about saving a few bucks wherever possible, so it didn’t surprise me that she was putting out harmful products. When I heard about what happened to Julianne, I had to do something to help. I offered to help her pay for a lawyer so she could get some justice. Unfortunately, we still had one other problem.
Lilian: We knew it was the lube that caused the burns, but we didn’t have any actual proof. Kayla suggested I do some recognizance by getting a job at SNOOT. She helped me craft the perfect resume, and I’ve been working on gathering evidence ever since.
Chantal: So why do you need me?
Lilian: It was the perfect plan on paper, but I’m not a detective. I was never able to get close enough to anyone important to gather the intel I needed. Then I saw you in Nico’s office late one night.
Chantal: [embarrassed] Oh.
Lilian: Yeah. I figured I could use your...connections to my advantage. I know that sounds awful, but it was also an opportunity for me to warn you about everything that’s going on before it caused you any problems. Knowing what happened to Kayla, I had to let you know.
Chantal: Wait, what happened to you?
Kayla: I was in the same situation then as you are now. A few years back, Nico was my boss. He started flirting with me, and I was taken in by how special he made me feel. He introduced me to Ambrose and said she could help me build my career.
Kayla: [continued] But then he started putting me down and shutting me out. When I got pregnant, he sent me money for an abortion and stopped talking to me. Then Ambrose suddenly cut me out of the company we were starting.
Chantal: I’m so sorry that happened to you. Trust me, I know now how stupid I was being by getting involved with him.
Kayla: You’re not stupid, Chantal. You’re kind. People like Nico and Ambrose will take advantage of that kindness, but that’s their shortcoming, not yours. I know this all might sound like a personal grudge, but I also know you noticed all the red flags just like I did. We chose to ignore them, but it’s not too late now to make this right.
Lilian: I know it’s a lot to ask, but if you have any information that could help us, my sister and I would really appreciate it.
Kayla: I can give you the lawyer’s contact information if that makes you feel more comfortable. I know lawyers get a bad rep, but he’s a family man and he really fights for his clients.
Chantal: I did find some things out recently that could help your case. Nico has documents in his office that show they've been getting their ingredients from unreliable sources. And he asked me to create some receipts that show they bought them somewhere reputable. He said the originals got damaged, but I know now that was a lie. I’ll give the lawyer a call.
Lilian: Wow, that would help a lot! Do you think you'd be able to get a hold of them to make copies?
Chantal: Yeah, they're locked in his desk but I can pretend I need something from the supply closet and ask to borrow his keys. He's in a bunch of meetings during the day, so I can sneak in there during one of those if you can keep watch for me.
Lilian: Sure! Thanks so much! I know this isn’t easy for you either and you didn’t have to get involved. But I’m so grateful that you did.
Chantal: I just hope it works out…for all of us.

“What is that?”
“Gurtok Demon, for the monstrodome.” Suzie Gryphonbane is laying out glowing shards of animus, each faintly reflecting a piece of the monster contained within. “Regina and I are testing out building our own dungeons and the Gurtoks offer a decent challenge for most of us. Marla has been bringing me animus from the two that hole up in the Great Spyre elevators.”
“Right.”
After another few moments of silence, Suzie sighs and sets down the piece she’d been trying to align. “Did you need something, Malorn? This isn’t really have a chat kind of work.” There isn’t any hostility in her tone, maybe a little weariness, she knows what he’s going to ask. “We can both stop dancing around the subject. I don’t know where Duncan went. He hasn’t been back since I let you and the new life kid know where he was staying.”
Malorn looks a little sheepish at those words. Suzie knows he hasn’t been trying to annoy her, but whatever guilt he’s harboring about Duncan’s actions has resulted in their every interaction being frustratingly vague. “Why did you tell us?”
“Because I wasn’t getting anywhere and I knew a heads up that Ambrose was looking for him properly would come better from you or even the wizard than a member of the city guard.” she says, crossing her arms and adding “I don’t know what happened after Darkmoor, I don’t know why he went missing the first time, but if you know anything about where he’s gone now I would appreciate being let in on it.”
Duncan had slept for two and a half days when he’d finally passed out. After which he’d been just as non-communicative as before. Though admittedly a little less prickly, and a little more willing to ask about what everyone else was doing. So when Mellori had come asking about him—
“I told them you were here.” Suzie braces for the reaction to the words, but the explosion she’s expecting—doesn’t come.
Duncan just looks like he’s considering something. Weighing options. “You said it was a new student, right?”
“The wizard brought her back from Polaris. Her name is Mellori.”
“Then it’s probably the wizard who will come looking.”
“You don’t sound as angry about that as I’d have thought.” Suzie pauses, “Are you…going to tell me what happened?”
“We dueled, they won, they told me to hide.” It’s sharp and quick, like he’s hoping to move beyond them without any more comment.
—a part of her regrets not pushing him further. But she’s not an idiot, and she’d known Duncan her whole life. It wouldn’t have gotten her anything more. So as Malorn explains what little he knows beyond that, it just adds more disconnected puzzle pieces to the pile. Some kind of doomsday group, unstable and forbidden kinds of magic, connections tying all the way back to Malistaire’s theft of the Eye of History.
“He wouldn’t have joined up with a group like that—not if they were the ones pointing Malistaire down the path he took…here.” Suzie believes the words as she says them, Duncan idolized Malistaire, she’d seen firsthand how it had broken him to find out what his old professor had turned to in grief. Had fought back against the truth for so much longer than anyone else. Desperate to find the Professor Drake he was familiar with amidst horror stories of titans and tides of undead.
“I don’t think he knew.” Malorn replies “The wizard and I found Malistaire’s journal, Duncan never got his hands on it. Whoever he was learning this stuff from—whoever was guiding him—I can’t see him staying if he’d known.”
Suzie has to stifle a laugh. Inappropriate timing, but she can’t help the affirmation that—yes—Duncan was indeed wrapped up in some flavor of mess that read exactly like what the wizard ran around doing. That it had led him right into the wrong side of a battle with them. That it seemed not to be the first time either. “So…” she begins, knowing this is likely her only course for more information. “I’m guessing you haven’t heard from the wizard lately either?”
“No. They were supposed to keep in touch with me, Penny too—but…”
The rest hangs unsaid.
But you know how it is.
You know how they are.
How they have to be.
“I guess it’s just a waiting game then.” That’s fine. Suzie can do waiting. She’s got plenty to occupy her time here. “The Spiral hasn’t dissolved so we have to assume they’re doing what needs doing—and that they’ll both come back when they’re ready.”
~*~
The heat of Dragonspyre was always a little overwhelming at first. The wizard had tried to warn Dyvim—though he’d cited the Khonda Desert as a testament to his resilience—the sulpherous air and heaviness from the lava fumes were a far cry from the dry arid heat he had experienced before.
“You’re sure it’s alright for you to be away this long?” they ask again, as they had done before leaving the Myth tower.
“Things have settled more since your last visit, I promise I can spare an afternoon. Though I’m beginning to understand your warnings about the heat—is the air here always so foul?”
The wizard smiles, it’s small and soft, but it’s there. Pulling at their face and reminding them it’s an expression they are in fact still capable of. “It’s better on the academy grounds, you can actually see the sky there instead of the ash cloud. There’s a portal just downstairs, so you won’t have to endure it long.”
Dragonspyre has never felt lighter to them.
For the first time it is neither an invitation to imminent violence, nor a bitter reminder of the damage they’ve had to cause. The wizard steps out of the Academy teleporter with Dyvim beside them, sees the grounds dotted with their old classmates, and is struck by such a wave of fondness that it brings their pace to a halt.
“Spellbinder?”
“I’m alright—I just—” just what?
They spent so many years hating the very idea of this place. Even after Darkmoor it was still a reminder of the mistakes they’d made. The celestial calendar whispering doom. The look on Duncan’s face when they’d threatened to fight their way past him. And granted—things with Duncan are not mended. But they are no longer shattered or sharp.
There is a future here.
“—it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to look at this place and not feel…haunted by it.”
Something is healing.
Slowly. So much more slowly than they would like.
But healing nonetheless.

Made by the amazing @ronald-speirs (my sister wrote this part, but I've seen your stuff and I agree so I'm leaving it). And thanks @1waveshortofashipwreck for the tag
Favorite place in the world you’ve visited?
Mt. Etna. When I was little (like, 3rd grade) we lived in Sicily, and one winter my brother and I wanted desperately to play in the snow, but it hadn't snowed where we lived in a long time. So we took a drive up Etna until we saw snow, where we stopped and spent the day playing around in it. (It was later that there was a horrible eruption that caused a bad earthquake where we lived, but I sleep like Nixon so I was dead to the world throughout the event.)
Something you’re proud of yourself for?
Making it through fire academy. Other than playing basketball one year in childhood I had never been very athletic, but I was out there doing bleacher runs, blackout drills, and climbing ladders to drag giant hoses to the top of buildings with the rest of them. I'm driven by the desire to not make an ass out of myself in front of others, and somehow I was able to do all those things, and ultimately participate in a live burn at the end of the program.
Favorite books?
Making my way through the books written by and about the troopers, so I gotta go with Band of Brothers. But my other favorites are anything by Kurt Vonnegut, the Dark Tower series, the Black Company series, Les Miserables, Moby Dick, Practical Demonkeeping (and almost anything by Christopher Moore), Hitchhiker's Guide...I'm sure I'm leaving some out, I love to read (Dick Tracy and Flash Gordon mostly...I couldn't resist).
Something that makes your heart happy when thinking about it?
.........band of brothers. Specifically my background characters. Specifically Smokey and McClung.
Favorite thing about your culture? About being American?
When did you join the HBO War fandom? What was the first show you watched?
It was a long road.......it came out when my family was stationed in Japan, so I didn't really know about it until I moved back. Streaming wasn't a thing then, so I would catch parts here and there, and I eventually figured I had seen the whole thing. Spent a long time thinking that people overreacted to it and that it was overrated. But I'm also leaving out one thing: that I am stupid. Figured my sister would appreciate having seen it, and suggested we watch it. I realized at the end of the first episode just how stupid I am.
Have you read any of Easy Company’s books? If so, which ones were your favorite?
I have a growing collection, but work often gets in the way. I've only read Ambrose's Band of Brothers. I've also read the Smokey portion of A Company of Heroes by Marcus Brotherton.
Favorite HBO War character and your favorite moment with them?
Have I mentioned how much I love Smokey yet.... One of his best moments (I think) is when he meets with Roe in Bastogne in his foxhole and gives him the morphine, tells him where to find scissors, and about Toye's boots.
Also McClung. And I love "ask him to dance, doc." The battle on the outskirts of Carentan has to be one of my favorite parts of the series though.
Do you make content for any fandoms, if so; what sort of content?
Just some gifs so far. I do like to write, but I've never dabbled in fanfiction.
Favorite actor/actress and your favorite film of theirs?
Russell Crowe and Michael Fassbender are the ones where I'll pretty much watch anything as long as one of them is in it, even if it's bad (like Jonah Hex...horrible movie, but worth it to see Fassbender's little villain character doing his little tee-hee leprechaun laugh through all his scenes). I'll also watch almost anything with Emily Blunt, she is fantastic and a hilarious human being.
Favorite quote/s that you wish to share with others?
So many by Kurt Vonnegut, but I'll just put two:
"If you can do a half-assed job of anything, you're a one-eyed man in a kingdom of the blind."
"We are healthy only to the extent that our ideas are humane."
Random fact your mutuals/followers don’t know about you?
I had a bearded dragon named Ichabod years ago. And I still love that name for a lizard.
If you’re a writer, do you need a beta reader (say yes so I can be your beta reader 🤭)?
If I ever start writing again, then yes. 😊
Three things that make you smile?
Anything band of brothers (obviously)
my remote-controlled tank (which I did not expect to love so much)
Facial muscles
Any nicknames you like?
You can call me anything and I won't care. If it's an insult I'll probably just wind up more confused than offended.
List some people you love to see around on tumblr!
I can't even think of all the people I see around here, but of course my sister @1waveshortofashipwreck, also @executethyself35, @love--persevering. And the ones I see around like @panzershrike-pretz, @dustyjumpwjngs, @blood-mocha-latte, @ewipandora, @cody-helix02, @blueberry-ovaries, @grumpy-liebgott, @hanniewinnix, @kafka-ohdear, @malarkgirlypop, @whollyjoly (i'm sure i'm leaving some out, sorry....)
What would you do during a zombie apocalypse?
Finally have a job I like probably. Not like I have a crowbar, axe, jacket with a thousand pockets, and combat boots hoping for something to happen...
Favorite movie?
So, so many. The 12th Man, Four Lions, The Nice Guys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Professional, Headhunters, the Full Monty, anything in the Mad Max franchise, Death of Stalin, Tremors, District 9, the Right Stuff, Children of Men, Suddenly Last Summer, Banshees of Inisherin, Dunkirk, 1917, Fury, 28 Days Later, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Drop Dead Fred, Sicario, Lars and the Real Girl, Casablanca, Three Kings, the Great Escape, the Fifth Element, Hud, Stand By Me, Tucker & Dale vs Evil, Evolution...I could go on
Do you like horror movies?
Yup. 28 Days Later is up there in my favorites. The Descent is an EXCELLENT horror movie for anyone that hasn't seen it (and has made it this far down my rambling answers). Ravenous isn't very well known, and it's not perfect, but it's fun and weird. Stir of Echoes is an unconventional horror movie, but an excellent one-off story. Slither is a fun one with a decent cast (Elizabeth Banks, Nathan Fillion, Michael Rooker, among others).

“Life Sentence: How My Father Defended Two Murderers and Lost Himself” by Amy Bell -
Book Review & Poem by Rainsbookreviews
Hey happy readers! 👋
For my second book review, I chose to read the true crime memoir “Life Sentence: How My Father Defended Two Murderers and Lost Himself” by Amy Bell. It was a riveting literary find, and I’m very excited to share with you my thoughts on this text. I learned a lot about the legal system and the people and secrets underneath it, and it was honestly one of the best pieces of law documentation I’ve read in a hot minute.
And for my surprise for this review, I wrote a narrative legal modern elegy— or POEM— to show my appreciation for this fantastic book! Read until the end to uncover it… 👀
I hope you enjoy~ ♥️

Life Sentence: How My Father Defended Two Murderers and Lost Himself - Review
If you thought ‘CSI’ & ‘Law & Order’ were impressive, wait until you read this!
“Life Sentence: How My Father Defended Two Murderers and Lost Himself” by Amy Bell is a compelling blend of true crime, memoir, courtroom and family drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat every time you turn a page.
This book follows the life and work of Ed Bell, the author’s father, and his infamous defence case of two suspected killers, Richard Ambrose and James Hutchison, accused of the brutal murders of Moncton Police officers Corporal Aurèle Bourgeois and Constable Michael O’Leary. With the case taking place just before Christmas 1974, the families, police and legal parties involved would have tragically had their holidays cut
short to try and piece together this now high-profile case.
From mishandled police operations to sketchy witness testimonials and public division to the alarming implication of the previous recent kidnapping of adolescent Raymond Stein, this book keeps you guessing and reflecting with each twist and passage.
It also takes an emotionally hitting stab at the consequences behind closed doors of such a profession, with Amy Bell describing her forever-changed, complicated and severed relationship with her father ever since his case took a turn for the worse, as well as playing with the eternal ethical question of whether or not the death penalty is deserved in a scenario such as this, or for, really, any at all.
I liked this book for its direct and all-encompassing view of criminal law and investigative work. With the professional and well-researched touch of a certified historian and researcher, this book presents each piece of evidence, event, and description in a concise and well-structured manner that is hard to question. Each chapter is sprinkled with new information, and Amy’s occasional questioning and reflection of personal experiences keep the reader engaged consistently. The inclusion of photos and excerpts from newspaper articles, television reports, and the author’s own family also reinstates a sense of hard reality and an even more profound empathy for all involved.
One remark I find very impressive on Amy’s part is that she remains neutral when describing the courtroom proceedings, police involvement, and eventual verdict despite
the topic hitting so closely on behalf of her father, family, and herself. It takes a lot of restraint not to impose bias in writing a memoir relating so personally, significantly if it harms reputation in any way (whether on paper or in the social sphere), and I admire her ability to separate fact from ego.
She appropriately balances this objectivity with her own separate, more personal anecdotes and ponderings, such as those from her childhood, parents, and lifestyle, which are occasionally mentioned in between long stretches of transcript and research. This provides well-needed rest from the technicalities of the case and leaves room for more internal questioning, such as: “What would I have done if I were Amy / Ed?”, “Do I think that killers also deserve to be killed?” and “What if it were my family in their shoes?”. All these questions make the experience of reading just that much more meaningful.
Another reason I enjoyed this book was that I related to it in terms of what I want to become in my future profession. Ever since I was younger, I’ve been keen on pursuing law, specifically criminal defense law, and when I first found out about this book, I was quite excited about what was in store. It was an excellent opportunity to dig deeper into the job I wanted!
And yet, while this book did teach me many new things about the profession, it also reaffirmed some of my previous worries about pursuing such a path: the danger, financial and emotional burden, and potentially negatively life-altering the experience can be, especially considering the fact these lawyers deal daily with people accused some of the most “nightmarish crimes” (as the Guardian expressed in their 2014
newspaper representing some of the best-known criminal defense lawyers) imaginable,
such as this one.
While I was inspired by Ed Bell’s motivation to protect the underdog concerning their human rights, his father’s words perfectly summarize what I feel now after reading this book:
“To keep our society free and democratic, someone has to do your job, and do it well.
[…]
I’m just really sorry it’s you.” (Chapter 14, page 178, paragraph 1)
I know now that I may need to consider researching other types of law that are potentially not as emotionally damaging (such as tort, civil, corporate law, etc.) for my sanity (and my family’s peace of mind, too). Still, I will continue to study on criminal law as well. Despite its immense challenges, I find this idealism and moral obligation to defend inspiring, especially after reading these excerpts of trial and dedication. Perhaps
I could learn from what Ed and his family have experienced, ensure the same doesn’t happen to me, and improve on that.
This has been eye-opening for me, and I am glad to have read about these overshadowed aspects of the career here before having pursued it.
Overall, I genuinely have no complaints about this book, and I recommend it to anyone
interested in learning about criminal law and how the inner workings of a court and
investigative case play within their own realm and in society. It’s a masterful tribute to
the tireless fighters of the legal system, and it is a piece of literature I will not forget for
years to come—and perhaps you won’t either!
5/5 stars.
I recommend this book!

A Life Sentence to Ed Bell
Narrative Legal Modern Elegy (Poem)
Written by Rainsbookreviews
September 8, 2024
🚨 ‼️ SPOILER ALERT‼️ 🚨 Read at own precaution…
Ed Bell, do you remember?
That fateful Moncton morning of ‘74, the last Christmas week of its kind?
As you prepared festivities with your family that December,
The reports blared that officers Bourgeois and O’Leary had died.
The country was in shock, as you were as well,
Mourning the deaths of such outstanding men, admired in every way.
But as the suspects were out, misters Ambrose and Hutchison, now put under hell,
Something inside you sparked, and you knew where your ambitions lay.
You set out for their protection and were quickly made a public enemy,
But you still strove for justice and their human rights, no matter the appeal.
You saw these men as men, alienated and battered from the world to see,
The bruised Polaroid you took at the station a testimony to what you would reveal.
Court is now in session, tensions high from ground to roof.
The Judge beckons to all with a nod:
“Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth,
And nothing but the truth, so help you God?”
Your brow is filled with sweat, yet your head remainshigh.
Ambrose and Hutchison are at your side, waiting as each second drags itself by.
The stand is each witness’s stage, but their eyes and the floor are yours,
And as you stand to speak, their doubtful silence echoes across closed doors.
“These men before you, whom you despise, are victims,” you say.
Your hand painting a picture of empathic perspective; they’re framed and in full display.
Police brutality, failed missions and evidence in disarray:
It’s clear there’s more behind what’s known, a story woven for them to pay.
“You must defend them,” your heart cries out, “You must set them free.”
A forbidden justice impaled by the spiteful pinpricks of society,
Faintly yet fiercely burning in your veins, bleeding out your reason to be
Against the death penalty and violence of all men prosecuted under scrutiny.
How bravely you persisted in the line of fire,
Against a prosecution so strong, against even youronce Liberal mentor in the highchair.
Defying the Stein kidnapping to the executions in the woods, with inconsistencies, half-opened doors and outrageous liars,
Securing a victory against a public flash of hateful propaganda by just a hair.
But unfortunately, it seemed fate was against you, as the rest of the world already was:
Alas, the forensic technology developed, and your men’s blood matched sample.
And on that final day, as the jury shouted “Guilty!” and reporters buzzed,
Your underdogs were charged a life sentence, like strays leashed, forever under hateful handles.
You were left a shell for the years to come, and soon after, your wife’s death was your mutiny,
Leaving your children to wallow in the pain you drowned in once before.
You didn’t mean for it to be this way, but who could set you free,
When you couldn’t do the same for the men who almost lost their lives under yours?
As you struggled through failed projects, judgmental eyes and a broken family,
The world moved on; the officers were laid to rest in peace, but you and your clients were not.
But your efforts would not be in vain, as what would be found by your daughter, Amy,
Would finally uncover your valiance overshadowed by blind hate, showing just how hard you fought…
And so, as her words of your story rebound across tribunals and households,
We lay you to rest, Ed, for your pursuit of fair treatment and equality, even despite all that’s been told.
We see now what we should have and will forever owe as we move through:
A life sentence of determination, justice and truth…
Dedicated, dear Ed, all to you.

IT'S MARA TIME
2, 5, 8, 14, 23, 34, 47 and 50 :)
heyyyyy hello!! thank you so much for the ask! i love talking about my girl, she’s constantly rotating around in my brain
2. Why'd you choose your OC's name?
I feel like you’ll appreciate this one. Her surname came from Merle Ambrose (of renowned wizard101 fame) and then I wanted to add some alliteration - with something that could be shortened. Amara just played off the tongue really well and so it came to be.
5. What's something you'd never put your OC through again?
There is no low I won’t stoop to. I’m the cruel type of oc owner, Amara is just one punching bag of many. That being said, I refuse to ever pander to the typical fandom ever again. She’s not the MC, she doesn’t act like the MC, and if she’s not someone’s cup of tea — that’s fine by me!
8. What's something your OC can't do?
Math. Typical gay person. The arithmancy professor (who is implied to be a werewolf actually — it’s very cool) has to tutor her a lot, but it usually ends up more like pseudo werewolf advice than math. So.. she’s still bad at it.
14. What would it take for your OC to kill someone?
This answer changes depending on the era of her character!
Hogwarts Mara: Anyone who hurts her friends, as well as those who she sees as deplorable (ashwinders for example) — though she won’t go out of her way to kill people. She just wouldn’t feel bad if it came down to giving bad people what she believes is better than what they deserve.
Auror Amara: A job is a job. Shes ruthlessly efficient with what she does. You need someone gone? Oh wow, it’s like they never existed.
Auror Commissioner Ambrose: Literally anyone who bothers her 🚬
23. What's your OC's favourite memory?
Her favorite memory is a bit tricky honestly, I don’t think I’ve got it quiteee as pinned down as I’d like it to be. Probably graduation day, because it marked a serious turning point in her life where she and Nat would travel overseas to pursue their joint venture into aurorship. Bittersweet, but among her favorites for sure.
34. what's your OC's "thing"?
The inherent eroticism of lesbian werewolfism.
Vague aesthetics: Masculine energy, cunning pranks, hidden passageways, underlying envy. A secret well kept, bite as bad as her bark.
47. Is your OC allergic to anything?
Certain animal allergens. Something she found out the morning after an untimely shift. Her werewolf counterpart loves to hunt, usually people but Natsai protects her from that horror. So she satiates on rabbit, mink and the like. Most of which, give her pretty bad allergic reactions from their fur the next morning after. Nothing lethal, but quite bothersome. Thankfully she isn’t allergic to herself (hilarious as that could be).
50. What do you love and hate most about your OC?
I love how unapologetically herself she is. She doesn’t give a damn about being a lady, but not in the quirky “not like other girls” way. She’s always been true to herself, and because she grew up in wizarding society — didn’t have any of those cultural pressures of the muggle world. I don’t care for real world homophobia and misogyny and I’ll never put that on her.
I hate how terrible she is. Especially as an adult. Hogwarts Mara is an enabler, she’s the counter to Ominis, the devil on Sebastian’s shoulder. She’s got a really skewed sense of right and wrong and it leads to her downfall eventually. But not after she benefits from everyone around her in her line of work.

random thoughts after reading 4 more Redwall books
the bellmaker
Honestly it's pretty badly paced like the main heroes (Mariel, Dandin, that gang) are stuck in a castle for like 1/3rd of their story)
but it may also be the shortest one but my ebook is also fucked.
the most interest part of the entire story are the 4 pages we get of the little stranded animal children and the adult hedgehog whose back broke from a mast falling on her, it's not really said what happened to her brain but she "was confused", and she dies and they leave her body in a tent as a tomb on a deserted island.
also I guess two characters who disappear but are so mentally distressed from their ordeal they become near savage.
also bc the world is so segregated, some species are always Good and some are 99.999% bad, and the 00.00001% we see be good - it would have been nice for them to actually stick around Redwall for a few seasons.
Redwall (the OG one)
if I were to outline every bit of early installment weirdness we'd be here all day so I'll just leave it at
this canonically takes place the book after the bellmaker (ironic I tried not to read them in order)
"I'm like a bad penny; I always keep coming back" THERE'S CURRENCY???
so going from names like Dandin, Bowly, and Finnbarr to names like Colin, Hugo, and Ambrose, like...I know it was written first but it's hilarious to imagine these animals went through some hhuman weeaboo phase 800 years later for about 10 years
also that apparently Portugal did not exist, showed up, and then went away again
bit about rats: First they're like "Hey don't discriminate against rats", meaning the dichotomy of good species vs bad species wasn't set in stone like it almost is for the rest of the series (see above)
there's also a mention of "Wandering Foxes" so foxes also weren't pigeonholed into "bad"
you can see this in the naming convention - Sela and Chickenhound (We'll get to the livestock thing in a bit) where most of the other vermin names are like Scumtail and Dipshit and what not.
then the rats ate an entire litter of piglets so were the piglets sentient? there's also a mention of livestock so I guess they were that but this is very Some Animals are more sentient than Others.
There's also a mention of badgers working in the mines and I do somewhat appreciate how there were more oppertunities for badgers in the old days besides "Lord of Salamandastron", "lone warrior", "mother", until you get about to Eulalia.
there's like different types of mice and rats when later in the series, it's just 'rats' and 'mice' with the occasional dormouse.
good lord this isn't even halfway through the book yet i'll make another post

💔 BROKEN HEART - what could their partner do that would absolutely break their heart?
Augustus
If a partner of his ever thought they were undeserving of his help, that'd break his heart.
Aurora
If her partner ever put themselves down, she wouldn't stand for it. Especially if it's a common occurrence.
Arielle
Ari is the kind of person who would do anything in their power to protect his partner, to know his partner wouldn't do the same would crush him.
Asrani
If their partner even insinuated that the work they do isn't important, that would cut deep. From other people it sucks, but it would kill them if it was from their partner.
Ambrose
If you pushed her to use her magic when she doesn't want to, like she'll do it but she'll remember that.
Noel
If you let yourself get hurt, especially for their sake. They don't appreciate you not caring for yourself.
Laika
Laika's heart would be broken if you ever held him back from helping somebody else he really cares about. Even if it's stupidly dangerous she'd take it very personally.
Volo
It's real hard to break Volo's heart, but one thing that would do it is stealing from Volo. It's happened one too many times.
Venus
Venus can stand being teases for a lot of things no matter how annoying it is. Teasing about his fear of bodies of water from sombody he holds dear, not so much. Even if it's playful, he's not for it.
Diedre
If a partner ever made him feel like he was too much due to his health issues, that would hurt.

Hello! I’m the anon who asked for recommendations based on Austen couples! I started with Olivia and the Masked Duke because Emma is my fave and I loved it! I loved it so much that I followed up the rest of the series and I have mixed feelings. Olivia and Fiona’s books were spectacular. I disliked Pippa’s and Glory’s I thought it fit somewhere in between. Are all Grace’s series so uneven? I’m really disappointed I didn’t like Glory’s book more because trope-wise, it is my fave. I’m now going to go back to the list, but if you can share more Emma inspired reads 👀👀
Hi! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Olivia and Fiona's books; they're some of my favorites. I actually think Grace's Lady Charlotte series is her strongest series just based on the initial premise that gets all the heroines together and how they build their sisterhood and ultimately show up for their fearless mentor Charlie once she gets her own book. So I wouldn't say they're uneven.
That being said, I think the series that had multiple books I found mediocre was her Game of Dukes series (my friends and I joke all the time about how Grace keeps trying to make Harry Kent happen by writing some variation of "he's a nerd AND a jock!!" multiple times in multiple books and tbh it does not work; she was far more successful setting up big brother Ambrose and keeping him as a stern but loving presence in the following books— I'm convinced that man is her favorite hero she's written). Grace has a lot of characters that are interconnected or related to prior mcs who end up getting books, and a lot of the characters in the Game of Duke series are ones I just didn't care for (see: Harry Kent, Carlisle's brother Wickham, a random tinker's daughter who only shows up one book prior, etc.), and plot-wise I feel like they were forgettable.
All that being said, I feel like there's a base level of excellence she has as far as her writing goes; you can see in her very first book that while some language was almost too OTT for me, she was already willing to go where a lot of HR authors won't in terms of a) I wouldn't say *darker* plots because there's still a certain levity she brings but it goes beyond your typical ballroom setting and she loves a good murder/mystery b) heroines being unafraid to express themselves sexually in a genre where at the time, a lot of authors were still writing clueless virgins (and most of her heroines are virgins but they're VERY eager to learn, very down and ready) and c) just a general variety in sex stuff, like, her very first hero Nicholas was into butt stuff which is something I still barely see in HR. She has a clear point of view and I appreciate that she has not compromised since she began writing HR, and has only built on what her early books promised.
ANYWAY, some more Emma-inspired recs:
The Earl I Ruined by Scarlett Peckham: I love this one- Constance is a popular lady of the ton who accidentally outs her brother's best friend Lord Althorp as kinky to the papers, and now to make amends she suggests that they pretend to be engaged. Julian has always been in love with Constance so that's kinda rough for him but in a GREAT way. Spoiler: he is kinky, and there is some light D/s stuff in the book.
I didn't recommend these two in the previous ask because they weren't my favorite but if you want romances directly inspired by Emma:
Never Met a Duke Like You by Amalie Howard: Inspired by Clueless; the heroine Lady Vesper is pretty, popular informal matchmaker. The hero Aspen is her childhood friend (so they're the same age) and they basically had a falling-out when they were younger and she's held it against him since. He asks her to help him find his ward (the Harriet of the story basically) a husband, and they end up falling for each other.
Match Me If You Can by Swati Hegde: Basically modern desi Emma; Jia is a rich Mumbaikar who works for a women's magazine and also loves to matchmake; the Harriet of the story is a new village-transplant coworker who she's trying to match with the office lothario, and the Knightley is her childhood friend (so again, same age) Jaiman. The most interesting part of this story is that he did confess his feelings a year prior but when he kissed her she started CRYING and ran lolol. So she's aware of his feelings but still trying to reconcile her own.

Ten Random Lines
tagged by @sarahcakes613
rules: pick any ten of your fics, scroll to the midpoint, pick a line (or three) and share it. then tag ten people.
I sorted my AO3 by Hits and then put stuff into a random number generator (thanks for the idea Sarah!). This should be interesting.
Off we go!
Isolation - AEW (HangMox)
“Oh, shut up,” Mox mutters. “Yuta stole my BCC shirt, Bryan stole my AEW shirt. It was my only option.” “You’re wearing a Dean Ambrose shirt?!” Adam exclaims. He can’t hold it back. “Oh, that’s funny.” “It was just – you were wearing a Willie Nelson shirt.” “I’m not wearing the, like, Clark Kent of myself,” Adam grabs the hem, but stops himself before pulling it off, for the comedy of it all. “Jesus, you’re weird.”
2. The Flyer War - MCU (Stucky)
That’s when Bucky leans in, pressing his lips softly to Steve’s, and Steve feels something in his body light on fire. They break away sooner than Steve would like, and Bucky’s eyes are lit up something gorgeous.
3. There's This Tune I've Found (That Makes Me Think of You Somehow) - MCU (Stucky)
“First of all,” says Tony, “I appreciate the iron ass comment, I’ve been working on my glutes. Glad you noticed. Second of all, I only barge into your love nest of sin and debauchery because Coulson’s apparently been calling you two fools for hours and neither of you has picked up. Something about the mission you two are running.”
4. Balloon Battle - Scorpion (Quintis)
“Toby, you’re getting me wet!” she exclaims. “Oh, am I?” Toby asks. He turns around. “I knew I was good, but I didn’t know I was that good.” He winks at her. "Didn't even have to touch you."
5. The Fragile Invincibility of Youth - AEW (HangMox) [MY BELOVED]
“He broke up with me!” Adam yells. “Why the hell does he get to be upset?” Matt blinks. “What?” Adam searches his face for some sort of answer. “Kenny dumped me,” Adam continues. “Told me he didn’t associate with losers, and said we were done.” “No,” Matt says, shaking his head. “He. He told me…” He trails off, meeting Adam’s eyes. “I gotta go.”
6. Burn Like a Wildfire - PJO/HoO (Pipabeth, Jercy) [ANOTHER BELOVED]
Piper can be completely unsure about many things. She gets weird when asked what kind of coffee drink she likes, because she never knows whether she wants something that's just coffee or sugary and sweet. Sometimes she gets worried about if her boobs are on display in certain shirts because, frankly, she doesn’t really care enough to get new bras right now because she’d have to ask her dad for money. But Annabeth. Annabeth, she’s sure about. She wants this.
7. Key to My Body - AEW (MoxYuta)
“I said you could be a bitch,” Wheeler says, stroking slowly, “not be mean.” Mox lets out another whine, his knuckles turning white as they grip the edge of the sink. “You’re the one being mean.” “I’m allowed to be mean,” Wheeler says, finally getting a little fun out of it, “you asked me to make you beg, right?”
8. Your Turn to Speak - Scorpion (Quintis)
“You’re still not kissing me.” So he does, pulling her close. Happy’s hands run up his chest, then settle on his shoulders. She’s gentler today that she’s even been with him, little glancing touches alongside half kisses to the corners of his mouth. It’s her version of an apology, he thinks, reminders to both herself and Toby that what they have is fragile and she has to be careful with them.
9. Christmas Stockings - PJO/HoO (Percabeth)
Annabeth shrugs, tossing the headband somewhere in her apartment. “You’re good either way,” she says, “but I’m pretty sure I’m ready to unwrap this, dude. You were asleep for, like, an hour.” "Well then," says Percy, pulling her in by the waist, "we should probably speed this up." "Not quite," says Annabeth, and she pulls the ribbon keeping the lingerie tied around her neck, slowly letting it fall, "I feel like dragging this out." She leans in close, straddling Percy’s lap. "I mean, really," she leans in, lips so close to Percy’s that he feels like he’s on first, "it’s not Christmas quite yet."
10. One Bed - PJO/HoO (Pipeyna)
“Shush,” Artemis says, and Reyna does what she says. “Look, Reyna, I know there’s the assumption that we’re all pious and virginal in the literature, but you only have to be virginal,” she gives Reyna a look, “if you want to be. My order of huntresses is to eschew men, not to eschew everything.” She raises an eyebrow. “And, if I were you, I would not eschew that gorgeous woman on that bed.”
~
I feel like this is a surprsingly accurate random assortment of my fics! Surprised no HangMatt, since it's aparently my third most written fic on AO3, but still! This was fun :)
Tagging: @perseannabeth, @onlyposersfallinlove, @booboo-eyedbambi, and @aidaronan should they like to, but also anyone else who thinks this could be fun!

it's very good to know you have so much in the works! that psychological horror sounds really cool :) youre series was the first joker fic i really fell in love with and recently i've stumbled upon another one that reminds me a lot of yours except it's like the dynamic is on the opposite side of the spectrum lol. it's part of a series called bless the bleeder by awfulbutsexy on ao3 if you wanna check it out because it's a good read tbh. alsoooo could you possibly elaborate a bit on this HOW fic? i am intriguedddddd
ooh, thank you for the rec! It's been a while since I've gone digging for quality Joker fic so it's always appreciated when someone passes along a good find <3
lol the House of Wax fic. here, have a fake summary (fake in that it's not official, not that it's full of lies)
Freshly convicted of her father's murder, Catherine Rosemarie White is on her way to serve a life sentence when the prison transport van gets bogged down, sending her and her jailers into the town of Ambrose, LA for assistance. Instead, they find a nightmare, and soon enough, Cat finds herself on the run in the swamp, trying to stay one step ahead of the dangerous Bo Sinclair, who seems to have taken a particular interest in her. As it happens, the thing that caught Bo's attention-- Cat's murder conviction-- might be the very thing that gives her the edge she needs to not only survive in Ambrose, but thrive.
stefon voice this fic has everything! daddy issues! mommy issues! alligators! cat and mouse games that neither party-- especially Cat-- will admit to enjoying and finding fulfillment in! sexually charged violence! early 00s cell phones! a problematic age gap (cat's like 20 lol he is WAY too old for her but that's the least of the concerns here)! clothing theft! nicknames! both parties fighting to be the dom in the "relationship!" two other Sinclair brothers who don't understand why Bo doesn't just have his fun and kill this girl already because she's kind of wrecking the whole town (he's trying, okay)!
it's basically Die Hard in Louisiana (Bo would be soooooo mad if he knew he was the Hans Gruber in the scenario). it's basically that text post I can't find that's like "I think two people who suck should be able to date each other so they form a closed loop and don't involve anyone else in their mess." No clue when it'll eventually manifest, but it's in the works, and obviously I'm just gleeful about how much of a wreck it all is.
#follow waxwidow.tumblr.com if you want to stay posted on this thang. it also doubles as a themed scrapbook so#thank you for the ask! I had fun answering lol#also for everyone reading this: if you haven't seen House of Wax (2005) this is your sign to watch it#I need people to witness the hot mess that is Bo Sinclair. emphasis on ''hot.'' like sir what is all that FOR??

2.6 Stoking the Flames
Nico: Thanks for offering to stay late and help out, Chantal. We need all the help we can get right now but unfortunately, some of the people on my team aren’t what you’d call team players.
Chantal: No problem! Thanks again for helping calm me down earlier. You were right, I was blowing things out of proportion. The nasty comments have already died down a lot.
Nico: What did I tell you? Trust me, I do know what I’m doing. I wouldn’t lead you astray, would I?
Chantal: Of course not. I guess I just have a lot to learn about how all of this works.
Nico: It’s not intuitive, that’s for sure. You’re quite intelligent; I’m sure in time you’ll become more savvy to the ins and outs of the business world.
Chantal: I’ll definitely try! I’m glad to have the opportunity to work on something besides the reviews and broaden my skill set.
Nico: Well, I appreciate it. I know Ambrose does, too. She has her hands full with trying to stop production on the lubes that have been causing the reactions, as well as finding out what caused the reactions in the first place. As for me, I’m trying to shift the focus off of the lubes and onto some of our tried and true products. I’d like to take a more subtle approach than what the reviews were doing. Do you have any suggestions?
Chantal: Hmm, maybe you could write some articles that highlight some of the ingredients you use and how they’re sourced so you can show people that they’re trustworthy?
Nico: I like that idea. It could show that the lube issue is just an isolated incident. I’ll gather a list of ingredients I’d like to highlight and we can start by researching potential benefits. If all goes well, you can get started with the articles tonight.
Chantal: You want me to write them? Really?
Nico: Sure, it was your idea! Of course, they’ll need to be approved like the reviews were, but I think you can handle it. Well, let’s get started. I’m sure neither of us want to be here all night.
[A couple of hours later]
Nico: Great work so far! I think we might be able to pull this off.
Chantal: Thanks again for giving me the opportunity. I’m really learning a lot here. I’m really glad I took this job.
Nico: I’m glad you took this job, too. [Nico pauses] Damn. I wish I could get you out of my head. I’m going to get myself into trouble.
Chantal: I can’t get you out of my head, either.
Nico: God, you’re gorgeous. You better stop me before I make a mistake here.
Chantal: I don’t want you to stop.
[Nico and Chantal start kissing, and it appears that an unidentified person who's on their way downstairs may have caught a glimpse of the pair in action. Unaware of the prying eyes, Nico and Chantal continue, and end up having s*x a good time on Nico's desk.]

Hey! Just wanted to say I’ve recently read your ‘Forever Onward, Scion,’ series, and absolutely loved it.
I’ve been playing Wizard101 since I was ten years old, and your series perfectly encapsulates the reason I still find myself pulled toward the game, despite the repetitive combat. My aching love for the young wizard, the complicated characters that are the Drake brothers and Morganthe, the way the game’s atmosphere shifts as the wizard travels through more and more worlds of the spiral; your series has it all.
I’m a dedicated Death wizard (both because my terrible gaming skills depend on life-steal to survive, and) because I love the complexity of the wizard’s relationship with ghosts and spirits throughout the game, the lore that I made for the death spells that have you harm yourself for heals/buffs, and the added conflict of being a representative of a magic practically rejected and by Ambrose himself. But your series gives me a whole new view on Myth students and their beauty, and makes me cherish Professor Cyrus Drake even more than I already do.
I’ve bookmarked your series, and am going to be rereading it in the very near future. I genuinely felt so emotional, so glad that someone understood the young wizard in the way that you do, that I cannot wait to experience it again. Feel no pressure to work on updates or responses! I just wanted to let you know that your series means the world to me, and I hope you’re aware of just how amazing and beautiful your writing is to us readers :,)
Hey anon, I adore you, I am having a hell of a time right now and you just made my night, my weekend, and possibly my whole gods damned august.
I'm so so glad you love the scion series and that it has resonated with you so much. Wiz has been my comfort game for a very long time, I started it when I was eleven and while there have been patches here and there where I haven't played (hello three solid years I was in celestia) it's always something I come back to. Diving into it again once I was an adult (both before and after the FTUE update so I got a refresher on the original starter quests) really made me appreciate the things the young wizard is thrown into with little guidance or help.
I have such a deep fondness for the arc 1 story, for the Drake family and their struggles, for the way (As a myth wizard by virtue of Assigned Myth At Quiz Book when I was 11, hated that my professor was mean, made a life wizard, felt bad before level 5, went back to myth determined to stick it out and never stopped) that Cyrus has to walk with you the whole way through, watch you get stronger and wonder will it be enough, do i want it to be enough? Because inevitably you're going to kill Malistaire, no matter how hard he tries to end things peacefully, that will always be the outcome. (I have some mild HC-lore surrounding myth wizards as mildly clairvoyant, addressed in fic using the celestial calendar spell, but I always felt like Cyrus especially knew he couldn't stop things, no matter how much he wanted to). Cyrus Drake is so so so important to me, his trying to dissuade you in the beginning, to get you expelled, to get you out of this place where you will inevitably become a murderer by virtue of having no other choice. Having by the end, him thanking you for everything you have done for him, for the peace you've brought his brother, his sister in law, himself. His speech in the graduation quest kills me, as does the one at the end of Darkmoor.
And arc 2, while a little disjointed for me by virtue of having started it at... uh, age 18 or so, and not finishing it until literally this spring (and now I'm 26, so, it's been a minute!) hit so hard and so satisfyingly at the end that it just spurred all my ideas even further. The way Morganthe is such a product of her surroundings and the way nobody seemed to actually pay her the care she needed in order to flourish, the way that turned deadly so fast. While I know young morganthe's memories were tainted by her own emotions I cannot help but resent Ambrose all the more for them. His presence in arc 2 is that of someone sending a child off to fight a war with nothing more than a force ghost council of advice and a prophecy that might not even be true. The things the Wizard is forced to do especially once we get to Khrysalis just drive home how deeply they have been affected by what they've been through over the years. Enemies in Khrysalis start to question why you don't just ask for information, why you hit so hard, why you fight tooth and nail before speaking to them, it's because it's all they've been taught how to do. The wizard, as young as they are, is not a peacemaker, is not a diplomat, they are a soldier and a war machine for Ambrose's, and by further extension Raven's ends by this point. It hurts, and while I love a silent protagonist, I want to voice that pain.
I love love love Death YW lore as well, and yes especially as a school so prejudiced against and so pushed back on by Ambrose, not only for his own failings with Morganthe, but for his failure to the students of the Death school after Malistaire's departure. I love the wizard as someone who (in the case of a death student) has to walk this line of realizing they are the next prodigy on the universal chopping block, the next great necromancer half expected to fall off into the pit that is darkness and evil and shadow. I love them rioting against that notion, and of pushing back against Death itself being seen as a cursed school, a dark school, it is essential, just as any of the others.
All this to say, I'm so glad the series has made you feel things, and I'm glad you want to go back and experience them again <3
I'm working my way through the darkmoor chapters in between writing horribly out of order (I got a little too excited once I hit arc 3 proper and now I'm all the way in Empyrea because I haven't stopped to breathe)
Thank you, genuinely this makes me so beyond happy.

Hi ! Welcome to my new OC blog , thank you for stopping by . I'm on the EST & i've recently come back to this hellsite after a nearly 9 year long break from writing . Lou from @tobeblamed unintentionally inspired me to come back so here i am !! i hope we can have fun & write together .
This blog is pretty much friendly everything !! I'm open to everything & i hope you will be the same . I won't tolerate hate of any kind , this is my blog . my space that i curate as a positive hub for me to escape my real life for a bit . i won't allow for it to be dulled . so be nice, just be a good egg !!
I will be on my main rp account most days !! ( @gunchamber ) so activity here will probably be sporadic . i also work a full time job unfortunately . i also believe i'm undiagnosed ADHD so i could very well be here shitposting but not replying to things , so patience is appreciated. please don't rush me on replies . if it's been a while feel free to shoot me a message to remind me , but continuous heckling will cause me to not want to write with you . i'll ask you politely once , if you continue then i will unfollow .
I am loosely a mutuals only rp blog , i'm only semi-selective . i also rarely follow first , and it's not me being a snob it's me being a pansy ass bitch that has social anxiety . if you see that we have the same mutuals , then i probably have already lurked your blog and i'm waiting to make the first move . it could be within thirty seconds of discovering you or several weeks . i am trash i know . i'm sorry .
the best ways to reach out and get things started is sending me some memes or tagging me in a starter !! if you are more into plotting , and we are mutuals send me an IM or ask for my discord !! i LOVE plotting some background for our muses to have a connection it's my favorite part !!
Shipping . it's one of those things that back then i would be like , shipping with all the muses that mine interacts with . but now i really enjoy and appreciate even the non-romantic relationships my muse gets into . i enjoy the slow build of our muse and based on their chemistry we will see if things become romantic!! world building and plotting is beautiful like that isn't it ?
Soft Blocking is new to me, but i like the concept . with that being said , if you soft block me and i end up refollowing you . i'm not doing it with ill intent or out of spite , i would just think something with tumblr happened that made me unfollow you . i apologize in advance .
