Opinion: you are responsible for controlling your child’s behaviour in public, just like you would a dog. Children sometimes have no understanding over what is or isn’t okay behaviour in public, and it’s up to the adult to make sure that they’re behaving in an appropriate way that isn’t disruptive to the people around them.

When Y/n and Jaemin exited school, the usual crowd of high schoolers surrounded them as they all tried to get home. Amongst the crowd of school uniforms, a black leather jacket stood out as the body inside it leaned against a motorcycle with a small smile. Y/n bit her bottom lip to fight back a smile as she led Jaemin over to where Jeno was waiting for her.
As people realised who Jeno was waiting for, people stopped where they were going to stare and whisper amongst each other. Y/n ignored them, unbothered at the sudden attention since she knew they weren’t worth her time.
“Hey,” Y/n greeted. “Thanks for coming,” she added.
“Of course,” Jeno replied, eyes creasing as his smile grew. “Wouldn’t miss it,” he added before nodding over at Jaemin. Jaemin nodded back, making Y/n raise an eyebrow in surprise at their polite actions.
“I’ve got to get to dance team,” Jaemin reminded Y/n, wrapping his arms around her in a tight goodbye hug. “We miss you on the team. Don’t get in trouble again, okay? Wouldn’t want you to miss too many practices,” he said to Jeno, who thanked him and gave him a small smile.
“Bye Nana,” Y/n said her farewell before turning to face Jeno in surprise. “I think I’m going crazy,” she joked, making Jeno whine.
“Stop,” he said. “Don’t make fun of me.”
“You’re being nice to each other!” Y/n exclaimed. “How can I not be surprised?” Y/n stood on the tops of her toes to press her hand against Jeno’s forehead. “Are you sick? Are you feverish? Is that why you’re behaving out of the ordinary?” she frowned, standing normally and tapping her forehead as if she was thinking. “But that doesn’t explain Jaemin’s behaviour…”
“Okay, very funny,” Jeno rolled his eyes and Y/n laughed. “We just… Agreed to be neutral instead of always at odds with each other,” he said vaguely.
Y/n grinned. “Well, I’m glad,” she stated, looking genuinely relieved that Jeno and Jaemin were getting along.
“Here,” Jeno passed Y/n a helmet and took off his leather jacket for her to wear. She thanked him, taking both and putting them on as their peers watched in complete awe and surprise. It wasn’t everyday that the resident bad boy who had just gotten suspended and the school’s top student got onto a motorcycle together.

“Haeunnie, I’m home!” Y/n called out for her little sister as she and Jeno entered the house.
“Y/n!” she called back. Y/n and Jeno heard a small crash followed by the tiny thumping sounds of childish feet running across the hall until Haeun came into view with a large beam. “I missed you!” she declared, throwing herself at Y/n.
“I missed you too,” Y/n assured, hugging Haeun back just as tightly. “Do you remember Jeno?” she asked, motioning over to the boy next to her. “He helped me go pick you up a month ago.”
“Hello,” Haeun greeted politely, her large eyes shining with mirth. “Did you give Y/n a ride on your motorcycle again?”
“I did,” Jeno confirmed with a nod.
“That’s romantic,” Haeun said, making Y/n lightly nudge her sister to warn her. “It happens in all the movies! And in Suho’s drama,” she added, thinking of her favourite idol. “I wish I could have a ride…”
Y/n laughed. “She’s really into Suho from EXO these days,” she told Jeno. “When you’re my age, you can have a ride on a motorcycle too. But you’re too small now and I want you to be safe, okay?” Haeun frowned, but eventually agreed. “What was all that crashing in your room?”
“I knocked over my chair but I’m okay,” Haeun promised. “Are you going to watch a movie?”
“You’re not allowed to watch movies right after school, remember? Jeno and I won’t either, we’re doing homework,” Y/n corrected, making Haeun pout.
“Fine. I’ll go do my homework, too,” she sighed, giving Jeno one last winning smile before trudging back to her room.
“She’s cute,” Jeno laughed when Y/n glanced at him, amused about Haeun’s antics.
“She’s a troublemaker,” Y/n corrected. “She gets it from my dad,” she added with a grin. “Do you want anything to eat or drink?” Y/n offered. “Why don’t you help yourself to whatever’s in the fridge while I go get changed,” she motioned to her school uniform.
“I’ll just sit and wait for you,” he suggested, motioning to the barstools by the kitchen counter where Y/n had put her school bag down.
Y/n made her way upstairs and quickly changed into a soft blue sweater and grey sweatpants in order to be as comfortable as possible. She paused at the mirror hanging on the back of her room door, observing the way she looked. Then, Y/n scolded herself. She knew that she didn’t have to dress to impress anybody, but somehow she felt embarrassed knowing that Jeno would see her in such comfortable, informal clothes.
Ignoring the feeling growing in her stomach, Y/n made her way back downstairs and smiled at Jeno. His feet were dangling from the bar stools by the counter and for some reason, this image was unusually cute for what Y/n had seen from Jeno.
“Okay, what are we eating?” Y/n asked, making her way into the kitchen and rummaging through the pantry. “Sweet or salty?”
“Sweet for sure,” Jeno said.
“How sweet?” Y/n asked, turning around to face him. “Do you need me to get the brown sugar out like Jaemin?”
Jeno burst out laughing. “He still does that?” he asked, delighted at the image of Jaemin still snacking on brown sugar in his free time due to his extreme taste.
“Yeah! It’s a wonder that kid doesn’t have cavities everywhere,” Y/n mused to herself. “Well, I love him so I guess I can’t complain too much.”
Jeno’s laughter ceased and he cleared his throat. “So, is it true?” he asked suddenly as Y/n pulled out a packet of gummy bears for them to eat. “Are you guys really dating?”
“No,” Y/n denied, taking the seat next to him. “Do people really think that?” she asked, surprised. “I thought my friends just said that to make fun of us.”
“People really think that,” Jeno confirmed. “I always thought that was why guys never approached you to flirt with you. They think you’re already dating Jaemin so they just ask you to pass on gifts to Ryujin, Yeri, and Somi.”
The idea startled Y/n. “I never even thought about it like that,” she admitted. “I always just thought that I was, I don’t know, ugly or unlikeable,” Y/n laughed awkwardly, trying to play it off as if she didn’t really care what other people thought about her.
“Well it’s the only thing that makes sense to me,” Jeno retorted. “I mean, you’re incredibly smart and funny and caring, and you’re really beautiful so I don’t see why people wouldn’t flirt with you. That’s the only reason I can think of. Your friends never really had boyfriends or showed interest in specific boys, whereas you and Jaemin have been attached at the hip since the first day of high school.”
Y/n smiled at Jeno, making him feel nervous. “What?” he asked.
“You think I’m smart,” she commented. “And funny and caring and beautiful,” Y/n beamed.
Jeno tried to fight the blood from rushing to his cheeks but he knew it was too late. “So what?” he asked, coughing. “Aren’t I allowed to think that you’re all of those things?”
“You are,” Y/n agreed. “You’re just the first boy to ever tell me that. Apart from Jaemin, but that’s different.”
“Why’s that different?” Jeno asked.
Y/n shrugged. “He’s my best friend. He just means it platonically, the way you’d tell your sister she’s beautiful.”
“Maybe that’s how I mean it,” Jeno argued.
“Maybe,” Y/n hummed. “But Jaemin never blushes when he tells me I’m beautiful.”
Jeno knew he had been caught, which only proceeded to make him blush even more. “Do your homework,” he mumbled, embarassed to have been caught like that.
Y/n laughed, passing him a red gummy bear. “Here, to match your cheeks,” she teased. Jeno grabbed it and threw it back at her, making Y/n’s giggling increase and intensify more as she knew he was trying to hide his red, blushing cheeks from her.
“So what if I’m blushing?” Jeno challenged, placing his hands on his cheeks in an attempt to cool them. “I’m allowed to blush, especially since I’ve liked you since middle school,” he boldly admitted.
Y/n’s laughter died down and she stared at Jeno in shock.
What did he just say?

A one-shot gift for @sizzlingcloudkitten ~ from your Secret Santa xoxo
I hope you enjoy it! ღゝ◡╹)ノ♡

A week out from Christmas and Laura was certain Carm wasn’t jumping for joy about the upcoming Holiday season, they’d had many debates over why Christmas was a quote un-quote ‘Stupid Holiday’. Laura had instigated a temporary cease fire after Carmilla had been rather inventive with some more suggestive uses for sugary snacks, and though Laura may never look at a candy cane the same she had decided to give convincing Carmilla of the holiday magic one last shot. Her hopes weren’t very high considering the last time they had attempted to do some last minute shopping. Carmilla had spent half the time making snarky comments about the frosted decorations, rolling her eyes at the Santa in the mall and had proceeded to steal an alarming number of gingerbread cookies before Laura had forcefully shoved her away from the stall, scolding her for all of a few minutes before she had caved and ran back to grab a handful herself.
So when Laura trudged home after a long day of work she didn’t expect to see her beautiful girlfriend in their front room wrestling a real (yes, real) 7 ft Christmas tree into their tiny apartment. Her bag fell to the floor, her jaw practically joining it as she looked around the room in astonishment. All around the front room fairy lights were carefully and meticulously strung. The Hufflepuff blanket that usually covered the sofa was replaced with a deep red velvet looking throw and the cushions that Carmilla claimed to despise were scattered near the arm rests. The mirror that rested above the fireplace (Carmilla’s unlimited trust fund had secured them that beauty) now had a snowflake sticker border and below, hung on the mantelpiece, were two Christmas stockings. Laura’s stocking was a soft yellow colour like the sun starting to set and had the Hufflepuff crest embroidered on the front with ‘Laura Eileen Hollis’ stitched in cursive along the white top. It was a little worn and the stitching was a little loose but it was handmade from her father and Laura wasn’t about to part with it any time soon. On the other side was Carmilla’s stocking - another gift from Sherman Hollis who insisted that Carmilla must join in with the Hollis family traditions despite Carmilla trying and failing to persuade him not to. Though she would never admit it out loud, Laura knew Carmilla was moved by the gesture. Carmilla’s stocking was a deep purple colour with black piping along the top and her name stitched in white cursive thread. In the centre a cartoon panther lay asleep embroidered into the fabric. Laura’s grin widened when she saw several perfectly wrapped stocking filler shaped presents sticking out of each stocking.
Her eyes drifted down towards the logs in front of the fire each crafted with different artistic designs. Laura chuckled as she caught sight of several screaming painted faces, of course Carmilla would make her want to rescue a bunch of wooden logs. Shaking her head she spun around, finally catching Carmilla’s eye as her girlfriend finished propping up the tree. Carmilla startled, her hand instinctively moving up to scratch the back of her neck as a shy smile worked its way onto her face.
“H-hey Creampuff, didn’t see you there.”
Laura stepped closer, smile widening.
“I can see that. What’s all this? I seem to remember someone saying a ‘holiday where you can’t kill someone is a stupid holiday’.” Laura says in a terrible impression of Carmilla, raising her eyebrow expectantly.
Carmilla barks out a laugh, moving closer to Laura as she speaks. “First, I don’t talk like that.”
Laura flashes her a mock glare sticking her tongue out as Carmilla smirks in response.
“and I still think it’s a worthless over commercialised, over-expensive sad excuse for a-”
Laura starts to pout so Carmilla continues with a playful eye roll. “-anyway, I know how much Christmas means to you so I figured I could give this stupid holiday another chance.” She says with a nonchalant shrug.
Laura steps closer, her pout replaced with a dazzling smile of adoration as she pulls Carmilla in for a tight hug.
“I’m ignoring that insult because you are the best girlfriend ever!” Laura exclaims leaning in to capture Carmilla’s lips in a soft kiss.
She pulls back and this time it’s Carmilla who pouts. Laura grins, pecking Carmilla’s lips a few more times before her excitement takes over, clapping eagerly as her eyes fill with joy.
“I’ve seen that look before.” Carmilla comments warily.
“I know what would make this even better!” Laura shouts darting out of the room with far too much determination for Carmilla’s liking.
‘Please don’t be what I think it is.’ Carmilla mutters to herself, knowing she’s lost when she hears Laura start to rummage through their closet. It can only mean one thing…
****
“Carm, you have to smile!” Laura reiterated for the 10th time, huffing when Carmilla’s pout intensifies.
“You promised we would do this.” Laura pleads, fluttering her eyelashes and giving Carmilla a soft smile, “please Carm.”
“I look like Santa threw up on me.” Carmilla whines gesturing angrily to the bright red sweater she was sporting.
“Well I think you look adorable, but I do have some other sweaters if you want to pick something else, there’s a bright pink one if you’d prefer that.” Laura suggests smirking when Carmilla aggressively shakes her head grumbling under her breath.
“I miss my old sweater.”
“Oh hush you, and for the love of Hogwarts put on the hat I gave you.” She chastises.
“Why can’t I have the antlers?”
“Geez, stop being so difficult!”
Another groan is her response, their eyes meet both glaring at one another before Carmilla whines - actually whines and grabs the Santa’s hat placing it on her head and then turning away defiantly.
“Aw come on, if you smile for one picture I will make it worth your while.” Laura says in a suggestive tone, lowering her voice as she leans in to trail kisses down Carmilla’s neck.
Carmilla hums and tilts her head to give Laura more room, the soft brushes of Laura’s lips becoming more insistent as Carmilla’s face starts to heat up. Laura starts to kiss her way back up her neck and then her jaw, finally kissing her lips and nipping lightly. Carmilla tugs her closer, her hands tangling in Laura’s hair, playing with the ends of it as they melt into the embrace. Laura’s hand comes around to cup Carmilla’s neck as she deepens the kiss, her tongue brushing against Carmilla’s lower lip and begging for entrance that Carmilla willingly gives her. When they eventually break for air their foreheads press against each other, breathless with messy hair and flushed faces and matching smiles. Neither notice the self timer going off or the camera flashing and catching their candid pose before they are rushing back in, getting impossibly closer as hands start to roam. When Carmilla practically rips their sweaters off Laura can’t find it in herself to care, her chastising replaced with loud moans and cries of Carmilla’s name, their matching sweaters carelessly flung across the room.
“Have I mentioned how much I hate Christmas shopping?!” Carmilla snarks as they enter yet another shop.
“Only about 50 times today.” Laura quips back, pulling Carmilla straight towards the baking aisle.
“Do we really need to do this? I told you I was only joking.”
“You challenged me and you know how much I love a challenge.” Laura responds grinning as she grabs some supplies.
Carmilla shakes her head but can’t keep the smile from her face when Laura pokes her tongue out in concentration, turning to her with a determined smile.
“We’re going to need a basket. Wait here.” Laura says mostly to herself as she rushes away in search of a basket.
She returns moments later armed with a basket which already contains several boxes of chocolate chip cookies, which Carmilla knows are definitely not essential to their baking competition and she can’t resist teasing her a little.
“I don’t think 5 packets of cookies are needed for a gingerbread house Cupcake.”
Laura’s cheeks redden as she playfully shoves Carmilla who chuckles before wrapping an arm around her shoulder and kissing her head.
“If you don’t stop teasing me I won’t share my cookies with you.” Laura states folding her arms and glaring at her girlfriend.
“Oh please, we both know you won’t be sharing them with me regardless.” Carmilla replies with a smug smile, smirking more when Laura huffs and stomps in front.
It takes all of a few strides for her to catch up, pulling Laura in for a soft kiss and continuing their shop holding hands.
They take a coffee breaks which consists of Carmilla insisting that Laura perch in her lap as she seductively sucks excess whipped cream from her finger. It takes everything Laura has not to act on her lust; she fails and ends up dragging Carmilla by her scarf to the Starbucks bathroom. They leave hastily, smoothing their clothes and combing their very obvious sex hair and trying to hide the embarrassment, it turns to full blown laughter when they catch sight of an elderly couple staring at them in horror.
When they return to their apartment, bags bursting, their lust is momentarily forgotten and replaced by fierce competition and teasing trash talk.
***
Carmilla chuckled as Laura swore again, glaring at her as she plucked another icing pen out of Laura’s reach.
“Quit hogging the pens!” Laura whined reaching across to snatch it.
Carmilla smirked, waiting until Laura was an inch away before moving to hold the pen above her head.
“Carm! Just give me-” again Laura grabbed Carmilla’s hand tugging at her arm to take the pen and once again Carmilla moved it away smirking as Laura’s eyebrows sharpened, her eyes narrowing as she glared, actually stomping her foot in protest.
“You are such a cheater!”
“You’re such a sore loser Creampuff.” Carmilla teased.
“Am not!” Laura snaps.
“I love that bunched up face you make when you’re mad, it’s hot.” Carmilla says winking as Laura growls in response.
“Well I must be breathtaking because I’m furious!”
Carmilla shakes her head with a smile, placing the pen on the kitchen island and wrapping an arm around Laura’s shoulder, soothingly rubbing up and down her arm.
“How about we make the cookies together before this turns into a bloodbath.” she suggests nudging Laura’s shoulder playfully.
Laura bites her lip pausing before she relents, nodding with a small smile. Her eyes fall to the pile of cookies Carmilla had made instead of a house.
“Gingerbread zombies? Really Carm?!” Laura laughs as Carmilla shrugs with an awkward smile.
***
Carmilla had been trying and failing to read her book for the past hour and a half.
First she was distracted by Laura insisting they kiss under every strategically placed string of mistletoe (not that she complained). Then Laura had wrestled with Carmilla over which object should become their tree topper, which had resulted in Carmilla having to suffer through a Laura Hollis pout after she’d shot down the idea of Laura’s custom made Lois Lane figurine decorating their tree - in her defence it was twice as heavy as most of the other decorations and it had taken her hours to secure the far too large tree in their apartment. After the pouting had finally ceased Laura had decided that the apartment was “too quiet” and the holidays songs were blasted.
Carmilla sat in the chair watching as Laura bobbed around shimmying and doing the most outrageously cheesy moves as she proceeded to belt ‘All I want for Christmas is you’ for the fourth time. Four times and Carmilla had finally had enough, slamming her book closed as she stormed over to the speakers. As if she could sense the nightmare that was turning her music off Laura spun around eyes widening as Carmilla started to unhook her phone. “Nooooo!” Laura shrieked running over to her girlfriend, standing protectively in front of the speakers. “I won’t let you turn it off.”
“If I hear one more Mariah Carey song I will riot.” Carmilla quipped holding up a finger threateningly.
“Don’t be such a grinch.” Laura shot back. “It’s my phone and I say the Christmas music stays on.”
Carmilla clenched her jaw, sighing before an idea forms and she pushes Laura aside.
“Hey!-”
Carmilla instantly shushes her with a kiss on the nose, turning back to finish her typing. Laura waits in confusion, a second later soft lyricless music plays - it’s an old song that Laura doesn’t recognise but there’s a smile on Carmilla’s face so she can’t bring herself to change it. She matches the smile when Carmilla grabs her hand, twirling her closer as they move to the music, falling into a classic waltz.
“See, this is much better than that other drivel.”
Laura hums resting her head against Carmilla’s shoulder as they sway to the music.
“You’ve been quieter today.” Laura comments. “I know you miss her, maybe one day you can tell me about some of your holiday traditions.”
They fall into a comfortable silence letting the soft tones guide their movements. When Laura tilts her head up Carmilla meets her half way pecking her lips softly. As they pull away Laura can see how Carmilla’s eyes glisten, a sad smile replacing the gentle one she had only moments ago.
“I didn’t meant to upset you Carm. I just wanted you to know that you don’t have to hold back, I love you - all of you and I’m sorry that I ever made you feel as though you have to hide parts of yourself from me.” Their eyes locked and Laura smiled soft, her hands coming to rest on Carmilla’s shoulders.
“I know.” Carmilla whispered ducking her head as a tear escaped her.
Laura moved a hand under her chin, tilting her head back up as she used her thumb to catch the tear. She lent in, kissing Carmilla’s cheeks and then kissing her lips; she could feel Carmilla’s tears falling and how Carmilla’s lip trembled against her own. She pulled Carmilla closer, pouring everything she wanted to say into their embrace.
“It’s okay. You’re okay.” Laura uttered the words against Carmilla’s lips, repeating them softly everytime they broke apart.
Carmilla shuddered against her, pulling back as she choked out a laugh, the sound harsh and broken.
“Mattie would be calling me a sap right about now.”
“That sounds like something she would do.” Laura agreed keeping a tight hold on Carmilla as she let her continue.
“There weren’t any traditions as such, but, she- she would take us to a rooftop and we’d look at the stars and for that one night we could be free. Free from Maman and the burdens we faced, we would laugh and sing, watching as lanterns filled the sky or as the snow started to fall. It was something Mattie could give me that no one could take away.”
As Carmilla spoke Laura could hear the passion in her voice, the softness as she spoke her sister’s name, her voice turning wistful.
“I just- I know you have the dimwit squad and the ginger twins and we have your dad, and I am so unbelievably grateful that I get to share this life with you but there’s an ache, I can’t help but wish she were here too. I’m scared of forgetting her.” Carmilla answers, tears welling up once more.
“I don’t think you could forget her even if you wanted to.” Laura brushes a lock of hair behind Carmilla’s ear before continuing, “it’s okay to miss her Carm. I know Mattie and I didn’t always see eye to eye but I would love to hear about your adventures - I’m sorry if me pushing Christmas upset you.”
Carmilla shook her head squeezing Laura’s arm as she spoke, her voice softer than usual.
“I may not get this stupid holiday and yes, maybe some part of me is still hurting but I like being festive with you, I love that you sing around the house and that we wear matching sweaters. How I have to stop you from eating all of the candy canes and watching you get excited over cheesy decorations at the mall. I like it because it makes you happy, because I love you.”
Laura smiled wider than before, happy tears forming as she kissed Carmilla once and then twice pulling apart with a smirk.
“You really are a sap.”
Carmilla rolled her eyes mumbling a barely audible “shut up” and tugging Laura back towards her, their lips meeting once more. The soft music continued to play as they got lost in one another, tears replaced with much more enjoyable cries and breathy gasps. They fell asleep curled up together, soft smiles still on their faces feeling closer than ever.

Jack's Daycare for Egos
(Keep in mind that my strong subject in writing is dark themes and scenarios so this was a first time writing something this cute for me fully. Just tell me if it’s any good):
Marvin happily skips down the hall as he heads for the daycare that day, his blanket cape flowing out behind him. He holds a small lunchbox at his side and he rounds the corner just as someone darts past him, nearly knocking into him. He catches a glimpse of red and hears a loud laugh before it’s gone. He balances himself and lets out a small grunt of annoyance because he already knows who it was. He’ll have to prank him later.
For now, he steps into the classroom and is hit by all of the noise and chaos that is his daycare. He watches the red blur(Jackieboy) rush past once more, hurrying to the snack area because currently Jack is being distracted by Schneeple trying to perform an actual operation on an actual lizard with a random assortment of toys. Chase is running after Robbie who doesn’t seem to notice he’s being chased by Chase and Anti is yelling something about how stupid Jack is.
A normal day.
Jack finally has somehow gotten the lizard from Schneeple and has now noticed Jackieboy in the snack area. He lets out a groan of frustration and notices Marvin. “Here hold this,” he said hurriedly and basically throws the lizard into Marvin’s hands.
The self proclaimed magician fumbles a moment before catching the actually fairly late lizard and holds it up, looking at its face. It slowly blinks at him and Marvin grins widely because he thinks it’s cute.
Jack has grabbed Jackieboy and is carrying him into the center of them. “Alright, get over here everyone!” He called none too kindly. He knows that each of the children here have the minds of adults- they’re just stuck in child bodies and child like actions.
Marvin skips over to where Jack is and frowns when he notices Signe isn’t there. “Where’s Wiishu?” He asked with a slight whine in his tone, setting his lunchbox and hugging the lizard close to his chest. He likes the lizard and he thinks the lizard likes him, too.
Robbie runs into Marvin’s back a moment later because the zombie can’t really see and so the magician grabs one of his hands. But because they hadn’t moved Chase runs face first into Robbie a second later and the three go tumbling to the floor. Marvin can just hear Anti laughing loudly nearby as he’s pushing back up. He turns back to help Robbie up, too.
“Signe couldn’t make it today,” Jack replied and he sets Jackieboy on the floor. The little hero pouts and crosses his arms over his chest and then throws a glare at Anti for laughing at the three who fell. “So, it’s just me.”
Every kid there groans unhappily.
“Hey! Do y'all not like me or something?” Jack demanded in a yell.
Anti hops over to the center now, hands clasped behind his back as he plops down into a criss-cross-applesauce sitting. “Course we don’t!” He informed with a mischievous grin. “You suck!”
There’s a collective “oooo” from everyone but Robbie now. Robbie doesn’t seem to know about anything happening around him. Probably cause he doesn’t. Marvin sits down and pats the spot beside him and Robbie sits next to him. The magician then pulls out another bracelet he’d made the day prior- this one is a deep purple like Robbie’s hair- and slips it onto the zombie’s wrist.
It takes a moment before Robbie notices it but when he does a large grin splits across his face very slowly. Marvin grins as well. A moment later and Schneeple sits down beside Robbie. These three are what Signe calls the “Dream Team” of the daycare. They’re normally together doing everything, hardly ever breaking from each other’s sides. Marvin calls their team name “The Cool Kids” but Anti always disagrees cause he’s “the coolest kid”.
Jack sighs in frustration and pinches the bridge of his nose. He does that a lot when watching the kids, especially when he’s alone.
“Anti, what did Signe tell you about saying those kind of words?” He asked, crossing his arms over his chest. He looks very much like a dad scolding his child.
Anti scowls and places his hands on his hips, sticking his tongue out at Jack. “Well she’s not here right now!” He pointed out.
“Yes, well, because she’s not here I’ll wash your mouth out with soap if you say something like that again,” Jack explained with little patience in his tone and Marvin gags at that thought. All of the kids tense up because oh yeah Jack can be meaner without Wiishu around keeping them safe from his Irish wrath.
Anti’s scowl deepens but he relents. Marvin’s glad because he thinks it’s for the best.
“Now, kids,” Jack began to address the rest of the “children”, spinning around as he does so. Jackieboy always seems to like to sit behind whichever way Jack and Signe are facing. Chase is sitting in the stool like the kids aren’t supposed to but Jack doesn’t seem to care to be getting onto him. “Because Signe isn’t here today, we’re staying in all day!”
This causes an immediate outrage.
No going outside?! Oh, the pain, the torture! How could Jack say that!
Anti is shouting his protests, Chase has gotten up and is now proceeding to “kick” Jack’s shins(it’s more of a tap of the toes, really), Schneeple has run off because he’s so upset, Jackieboy is trying to calm Anti and still yell at Jack and Marvin has stood up as well, continuing to hold the lizard in his arms. Robbie continues to sit and stare but he’s glaring at the floor now because even he isn’t happy about not going outside.
Marvin does fall silent, however, as soon as he sees Jack’s eye begin to twitch out of annoyance. He sits back down next to Robbie and lets the zombie poke his new lizard friend out of curiosity.
“I eat it?” Robbie asked.
“No, he’s a friend,” Marvin replied, hugging the lizard to his chest again. It licks his hand with a long and slimy tongue. The two, to encompassed in their own little lizard world now, don’t notice what happens with Jack and the rest of the kids after that. When Marvin does resurface, however, the stool is stuck in the wall, and Anti is in time out.
“Oh, Marvin, you’ve still got the lizard,” Jack said and he’s finally walking over towards Marvin and Robbie. These two are normally the most forgotten because they’re so quiet. Jack holds a hand out, possibly for the lizard. “Here, I’ll take it outside.”
Marvin holds the lizard even closer and shakes his head. “No!” He denied and turns his head away from Jack. “He’s my friend now!”
“Seriously, Marvin, you’re gonna be a pain, too?” Jack asked exasperatedly.
“I don’t see why it’s a problem for me to keep the lizard,” Marvin protested and placed the lizard on his shoulder. The lizard perches there and stays still, tongue hanging from between its lips. “He’s not a problem.” He peers around Jack. “Though I think Chase has another nerf gun.”
Jack’s eye twitches and he turns instantly after hearing this, storming off towards said kid who is currently shooting at the only undamaged wall. Which is now getting damaged. By Chase’s bullets.
“Chase!” Jack yelled but Marvin isn’t paying attention any because Schneeple is walking to them.
“Here, Robbie,” Schneeple said, handing the zombie a piece of paper with a crayon. The zombie grins widely and takes the offered items, laying the piece of paper out and begins to scribble all across it. He has always enjoyed the sound of the crayon scraping across the paper.
Schneeple then sits in front of Marvin and notices the lizard on his shoulder. “Oh! You found my patient!” He exclaimed and reaches for it but Marvin slaps his hand away. “Hey!”
“No, he’s my friend now!” Marvin pointed out like he had to everyone else. Everyone seriously needs to stop taking his lizard.
“Oh yeah? Then what’s his name?” Schneeple asked, crossing his arms over his chest as he glared over at the magician who is now pursing his lips.
“His name is Pickle,” Marvin declared, patting the lizard’s head. Schneeple’s mouth falls open.
“That doesn’t matter!” He shouted angrily. “I found him first! Give him!”
And then suddenly the hand Robbie is using to draw falls off. They all fall silent because of this and the zombie holds up his wrist to stare at it in confusion. “Why.. no draw?” He asked Marvin.
“Because your hand came off, of course!” Schneeple informed and scoots over, grabbing his hand. This seems to make him forget about the lizard. “I’ll put it back on!”
Marvin pushes to his feet because now he’s bored and wants to practice his magic tricks. He pulls out one of his packets of cards and pours the cards into his hand, looking around for someone to amaze. His eyes land on Chase and he grins, running over to him.
Jack must have finished scolding him because now Chase is pouting and doesn’t have his nerf gun anymore. He doesn’t even look up as Marvin skids to a halt in front of him, Pickle somehow hanging onto his shoulder.
“Chase!” Marvin shouted and holds out the deck of cards before the other boy. “Pick a card, any card!”
Chase looks up at him with a glum look and shakes his head. “I don’t wanna right now, Marv,” he said and Marvin frowns. “Jack took away my gun.”
Marvin really wants to show this new trick to Chase. Chase is always the most enthusiastic about his magic. He hums as he thinks of what he could do. “What if I got you your gun back?” He suggested and Chase’s face lights up.
“Really? You’d do that?” Chase asked with a grin.
“Yup!” Marvin replied with a sharp nod.
“You’ll have to get it from Jack, though,” Chase points out but that doesn’t deter Marvin.
“I’ll get it!” Marvin declared even though he has no idea how he’s going to get the nerf gun. Chase grins to him and he runs off, already trying to formulate a plan of action.
Jack probably had put the nerf gun with the rest of the “forbidden toys” he picks up during the days and placed it in the “Bad Box”. The Bad Box is in the bottom left cabinet on the left side of the classroom and if you so much as get near it Jack yells at you to move away from it. He’ll need a distraction to get into it.
He has too much time to sit there and watch Jack, honestly.
And he already knows the perfect distraction.
He hops over to Anti who is still pouring and mumbling angrily in timeout. The demon child glares at him as he approaches. “What do you want?”
“The better question is: what do you want?” Marvin counters and pulls a butter knife from his pocket. A dull knife that wouldn’t actually cut but he knows Anti would want it anyway.
Anti’s eyes widen when he sees the knife and he’s already reaching out for it. Marvin steps back out of his reach. The demon child frowns. “Okay I’m listening,” he said, eyes still locked on the knife.
“I need a long enough distraction to get into the Bad Box,” Marvin explained and waves the knife about in the air, keeping Anti’s attention on it. “Could you do it?”
Making deals with Anti when you want to do something bad is always a good idea: the demon child always makes sure to go through with his side of the bargain if he gets something in return. You just shouldn’t deal with him if you want something good done. If you want that go to Jackieboy. But that’s a story for another time. Marvin is doing something bad now.
Anti hums and his eyes dart around the room from the Bad Box’s location to the other side of the room from it. This is the snack area. Always a good place to cause a distraction. “Yeah, I think I can,” he answered and then looks back at the knife. “But you gotta give that to me first.”
Marvin shrugs and hands over the knife. Anti grins as he takes it and runs a finger along it’s edge, looking it up and down. Marvin already knows he’s going to try and use it to break all of the crayons. That’s his favorite thing to do.
“Okay! I’ll make a distraction! Hope you’re fast enough!” Anti exclaimed before he slides the knife into his pocket and shoots from the chair, running to the snack side. Jack instantly notices this and yells at the demon child and gives chase.
Marvin runs for the Bad Box and yanks open the door, knowing Jack would not be seeing him climbing inside. He pulls the box out and grins because there’s the nerf gun but also his own wand which Jack had confiscated because he could actually cast spells with it. He grabs the gun and the wand(and Robbie’s favorite book to color on- the Bible) and pushes it back in, quickly shutting the door and rushing over to Chase, ignoring the chaos Anti has started behind him.
“I got it!” Marvin announces and hands Chase the nerf gun. Chase grins and takes it, rubbing it against his cheek lovingly.
“Show me all of your magic tricks now, dude!” Chase exclaimed, placing the gun into a pocket and siting forward to watch Marvin.
The magician grins and pulls the cards back out, holding them to Chase.
“Pick a card, any card!” He shouts.
Just another day at Jack’s Daycare for Egos.
