I don’t really have the energy to get into it (nvm I did) but I do enjoy how willing the cast are to play their characters with deep flaws and support each other in doing so while not simply ignoring those flaws. Sometimes they do ignore them a fair bit tho.
Veth/Nott especially is played incredibly flawed. More then just her klepto tendencies or alcoholism as Nott at least. She is prone to taking serious risks, and hypocrisy. She’s not uncompassionate but is not great at reading people to a point that she can be a bit brusk. She hurts feelings, probably without meaning too, and gets a bit too focused on her own goals and particularly aspirations for others not considering the other individuals wishes.
None of which is always happening, or even entirely bad. But they are consistent flaws. Many of which haven’t been much addressed. The alcohol has a bit and there’s been a long-standing issue with trying to address her risk taking behavior -most of which was chalked up to alcohol, or gobliness. Her issues are certainly more complex than the MN seem to realize and not as easily explained as formerly believed. Also I think Sam is often just viewed as a jokester to a point these tendencies have been further ignored but that’s not really the topic here. You see this with her fear of bodies of water too.
*none of this is too say they she’s “a bad person” she has good traits too. She loves and supports those close to her fiercely and wants to do good. She’s protective and bold and brave even with her anxieties. But she’s also flawed and that’s good in its own way.
