she needs to fight!!! hereās my redesign for anita :)
i felt like something was lacking in her costume and i wanted to take a stab at redesigning her so! here she is!
explanation will be under the cut :]
when i started this redesign, i knew i wanted to incorporate her cultural background a lot more. she is implied (i donāt believe they outright specify it) to practice specifically haitian voodou & both of my parents practice african traditional religions. so, i talked to my dad about different ways to connect that to her costume and he brought up west african masquerades.
i was sent many, many videos (thank u dad š«”) of masquerades as well as celebrations of junkanoo, which is a festival that started in north america rooted in west african festival traditions & they both have bright colors & masks that i felt really lent itself to the empress costume
i knew i wanted to keep her general silhouette, but i tweaked it to better suit the masquerade & festival costumes e.g. her glove and boot cuffs being flipped.
the stripes were a common aspect, and i based the masks more on junkanoo than masquerades just because of the important meanings behind masquerading that i am not qualified to apply to a dc comics characters ajhdjsja. i also made her under armor a lot more yellow to have less people confuse it as her skin? which iāve seen a few times.
speaking of, now onto her actual appearance. i think anita has a very cute design, but like many non-white comic characters , it is a bit of a struggle. but! thatās an easy fix.
first, i gave her knotless french curl braids, bc all the black vigilantes i draw have to have protective hairstyles apparently lmao. but also itās a nice mix of the braids she wears in yj sometimes and her usual hair. yippee
(+ i just made her empress hair a wig, bc itās very much more convenient & plays into the festival costume aspect)
and, finally, i made her skin tone a lot deeper bc, especially compared to her white teammates, her skin is super gray š which is common for a lot of brown comic characters unfortunately. i couldāve just made her og skintone more saturated but ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ itās a free country.
and thatās a wrap :^) ty to anyone who actually sat through my rambling! if anything came off unclear iāve open to questions about it. bring back anita fite 2k24

Yukari Åba
Yukari Åba is the exclusive fashion designer for MALICE MIZER. All of their costumes are her work.
People with titles like "planner," "editor," or "writer" often like to separate their jobs into small roles. As a result, some people end up with two or three titles and end up saying how busy they are. Among them i think the profession of designer is currently being broken down into the most minute distinctions. Itās not just about people who create design sketches, cut fabrics, or shape the garmentsāthere are specialists in hats, accessories, knitwear, and so on. I can understand if someone with a foot fetish only wants to make things related to feet, but recently, somethingās been bothering me. It starts with the question of whether it's okay to refer to Åba-san simply as a "costume designer."
Sheās responsible for the image of MALICE MIZER after their revival. Under the name of costumes, accessories, and hairstyling, she handles everything from patchwork to welding (pay attention to KAMI's hands this time) to even the stage props. Can we really call her a "designer" or "costume person" in just one second?
However, as I was agonizing over this, Åba-san spoke enthusiastically, saying, "This part was really difficult, look at it! Oh, and here too..." She talked joyfully about how she changed the fabrics little by little and factored in lighting effects. She said with a laugh, "People often tell me, 'No one will notice you went that far,' but I love doing it." Through her words, I understood one thing: Åba-san doesn't care what she's called, as long as she can create costumes. Itās her passion. That's why such lively, remarkable costumes are born from her work.
Mana
Mana had told me, "I imagine the feathers gently falling off!" (laughs). It wasnāt meant to change that much, but after making it, I thought, "I want to make it cuter," partly because too much of the legs were showing. I used a fabric called washer organza for the feathers, and also incorporated it into the underskirt, creating a tutu-like effect with about four layers to add volume. The pom-poms were something Mana brought in, saying, "I want to attach these somewhere," and when he attached them herself, she said, "It's cute!" (laughs). Actually, he also made the wig and chains with his own hands.
The butterflies on the wings arenāt real, of course (laughs), but I dyed each one individually. Even in places where it seems casual, thereās a lot of effort behind it (laughs). The fabric for the costume was something Mana requested, saying he wanted a luxurious material that looks like beads. I brought various options and he was especially fond of this one fabric because itās very light. He even said, "It feels like Iām wearing nothing, this is perfect!" (laughs). It was a hit (laughs). As for the accessories, he said he wanted something with the feel of a wedding fountain with light shining inside it (laughs). I remade it several times to create something that bounces back when touched.
We also tore up light blue feathers and embedded them. We worked hard on even the smallest details that might seem like nothing at first glance (laughs). To make sure the guitar strap doesnāt get tangled, I discreetly made the wings detachable with Velcro (laughs).
Kƶzi
Kƶzi is someone who likes to plan everything from the start. When I first saw the design, I thought of a fiery phoenix, so I decided to make it based on that image. The fabric is the same as Mana's but in a different color. He said, "I've worn something like this before." This time, he wanted something that resembled a jumpsuit. Even though it has no elasticity, I went ahead and made it, but when he wore it, he said, "It's tight..." (laughs). Even though it was restrictive, heās someone who enters the role through appearance.
The feathers on the chest were dyed with a gradient because I wanted to add that effect, but balancing it was tricky. While adjusting during the fitting, I mixed in red, which is his signature color. This jumpsuit also has Velcro to make it easier for the guitar strap to pass through. The accessories ended up looking very different from the design sketches because when we attached them to the sleeves, it made playing the guitar difficult (laughs). So, when we finished one sleeve, we decided to wrap it around his neck, creating a more luxurious design. The wings on his back are made from aurora film, which changes color depending on the light, appearing red or gold. The material is aluminum, making it very heavy, but the overall cohesiveness of the costume is strong, so he managed to play with it as it was. As for the strawberry hat, we added three-dimensionality using feathers, doubling its size at Kƶziās request.
By the way, when he wears the costume, heās 196 cm tall, from his shoes to the top of his head (laughs). All the members end up being around that height, right? So we make the inseam 100 cm. People always ask, "Who on earth is going to wear these?" (laughs).
Yu~ki
He had an image of a "beast" in mind, and even Yu~ki himself said, "This is quite an adventure." The skirt was actually his first tryāa dress made of enamel, something we figured out together during the fitting process. Itās a double-layered design, with the back being longer and slits cut into it, creating this eerie look. The bones are designed to resemble human bones, adding shadow to enhance the effect. The back is made of two layers of umbrella-like fabric, with a sheer fabric sandwiched in between to create a shadow effect. At first glance, it looks like a single layer, but there's a lot of depth (laughs). In terms of time, his costume was the fastest to make because once Yu~ki decides on a design, he sticks to it.
Yu~ki, from the start, based his look on the initial image and always strives to get as close to it as possible. The hardest part was dealing with the enamel fabric's texture. Although we wanted it to look big, enamel has this shiny, slick look, so we used a technique like gathering to create a pinched effect, making it appear more three-dimensional, even under lights. This time, it's sleeveless, but the tattoos he recently got give it a good balance. However, it seems it takes quite a long time to paint his arms, which is a challenge (laughs).
Kami
For Bel Air, it seems that the design he envisioned was difficult to realize. This time, I adjusted the shape of the collar slightly upwards to make it easier to take off. Since taking off the costume was a concern, I incorporated his favorite Rurubar lace in two layers and embroidered it with CD sequins to give off a subtle shimmer, ensuring that the fans could see the light reflecting off it. The sequins were also added to the wings, inspired by his recent thematic focus. They create a fantastical effect, with a gradient from blue to purple as the light shines on them. The wings are the largest element, but theyāre lightweight, which allowed Kami to say, "I want to perform while wearing them" (laughs).
For the headpiece, i dyed a cup and embedded black feathers as an accent giving it a mysterious shape that he can just throw on. Lately, heās been wanting to wear a pink wig that he bought himself, but itās a bit too intense, so Iām thinking of adding some mesh to tone it down (laughs). The overall concept was inspired by looking at an insect encyclopedia, specifically butterflies. Additionally as Kami insisted from the beginning, thereās a tail attached (laughs).
Gackt
This time, all the members wanted to have wings, so that served as the basis for the design. The members had very detailed requests, particularly Gackt, who was inspired by his favorite movie, The Crow. He wanted the outfit to highlight his beautiful body lines, so while the design is simple, it also needed to allow for movement. Ideally, I would have preferred a stretchy material, but I was determined to use cotton velvet, which has a dark and moody atmosphere, while also creating the effect of gold shining through the darkness.
The cotton velvet, combined with cut velvet, made sitting difficult for Gackt, but when the light hits it, the gold stands out clearly against the black backdrop. The wings, which he was very particular about, were designed in three layers. When closed, they fold up slightly, but when fully opened, they span 4 meters. For live performances, Gackt uses strings to control them, allowing the wings to spread open. The construction is sturdy, with hidden mechanisms for the strings, making the wings quite heavy. The wings were made using about four different patterns, and sequins were added so that when the light hits them, they appear three-dimensional. We used an incredible amount of feathers for the wings as well.

Remember how people who didn't watch Miraculous anymore thought that Shadybug and Claw Noir were an elaborate fandom joke? I bet we could do that.
We could totally Goncharov a wild, ridiculous Season 6 plotline, especially in the spirit of April 1st.
Here are my ideas:
Early on in the season, Adrien/Chat Noir spends a few episodes impersonated by himself from the future. The fact that both have been replaced almost leads to his identity being exposed, but future Chat Noir shows up in the same room as present Adrien and so now people continue thinking he can't be the same person.
Because Cerise has ditched the Lila persona, all three of Lila's unrelated mothers simultaneously report her missing. They eventually join a support group for parents of missing teens, and come to realize they have the same daughter.
Alya and Nino break up. They get back together later in the season. Neither is particularly relevant to the season's overall plotline, and both events happen off-screen with only a passing mention.
In a surprising twist, Cerise is unceremoniously killed off mid-season, and her role as Butterfly Miraculous user is taken over by someone else. The rest of the season is a time travel plot where they try to stop this event, as somehow having Cerise as the villain is better for everyone than this person.
Marinette learns from Lila's moms about her wig-based identities, and becomes increasingly paranoid. She begins trying to yank peoples' hair off, convinced that Cerise faked her death and is in hiding as someone she knows. This culminates in Marinette discovering that Nathalie is actually bald. She immediately drops the search and never mentions wigs again.
It turns out that the Chat Noir that replaced Adrien earlier in the season is from later in the season, as he was trying to prevent Cerise's death.
In the finale, the new Butterfly wielder gets desperate, and orders Nooroo to use his powers, not knowing the consequences of Kwamis using them without holders. This leads to sporadic, unpredictable akumatizations/deakumatizations all throughout Paris. Shockingly, it gives us our first real akumatized Marinette, but it only lasts about a minute.
All of the time travel shenanigans to save Cerise's life ultimately lead to multiple copies of her around Paris. The main one continues being the Butterfly wielder. Three stay with Lila's three moms in sort of a Full House/Three's Company situation, becoming the Lila triplets. Having nothing else to do, the rest become background extras for the show, where they copy and paste the same model but with different hairstyles and eye colors.

Since it was confirmed Velvette is a doll-based demon in official merch, I am now seriously considering my once crack theory that Velvette wears wigs so she has easily interchangeable and customizable hair. Hear me out.
Granted my only evidence to support this is how radically different her hair's overall mass is over her many different outfits. What I mean by hair mass is how much hair she should have at once. See how Vel's hair mass GRATELY fluctuates from having a fuckton to much less in such sort periods of time? Gaining and losing this much hair is just not possible in such a short amount of time. This is only possible if she cut her hair, but it appears to grow right back out in later styles. (Especially since two outfits with radically different hair masses are in the same episode! This being ep 2!).
As a professional cartoonist, when designing different hairstyles for the same character, you have to keep the hair's overall mass in mind (unless the character got a haircut or it or their hair grew out). You don't want it to look like a character has gained or lost hair just by having it in a different style. It is very clear to me Velevette's hair mass is NOT consistent in the slightest. For example, comparing her 1st outfit in ep 2 to her best known outfit in ep 3, the two where her hair is the longest and are in ponytails, the ep 3 design's pigtails has the same mass as the single ponytail in ep 2. This logically means Velvette has DOUBLE the hair in what can assumed to be a very short amount of time. With her 2nd outfit in ep 2, you CANNOT convince me all of that hair in her ponytail was able to condense into that TINY bun. Her poofy hair in ep 8 also appears to be way less then ep 3 or even ep 2's first design. Her hair's mass is just NOT consistent between ANY of her designs and fits.
So it makes sense that this could possibly be intentional character design, right? Because this is a pretty simple thing to not fuck up at a professional level.
I'm willing to accept counterarguments to this. Such as maybe she has hair magic just like she has been shown to have clothing magic.
Or this is just a design fault and they didn't consider Vel's hair mass. Which honsetly I wouldn't put it past them considering how consistently Viv's Character color palletes fail the value test. If you don't know what that is, it's basically turning the character black and white and seeing if you can tell apart the grayscale shades where different colors are supposed to be. The shades of gray correlate to different saturation levels in color. This is really important for creating characters that pop. A good example of a Viv character that fails at this is Rosie.
But the idea of Velvette being BALD and being able to swap out custom, styled wigs is infinitely funnier to me because then ALL THREE VEES WOULD BE BALD.

āāāāā šø š ā* Y/N'S HAIR TIMELINE
a look into the different hair styles you've had throughout the years! starting from treasure ep. 1 and going all the way till birthday. you have become well - known for your hair over the years along with your hime style cut that has become a staple to your idol image.
ā¶ TREASURE ERA āāā
TREASURE EP.1 āāā you would sport brown hair with bright pink highlights. a lot of fans would really adore this look on 19 - year - old you and it really helped you stand out amongst the boys. you would also have bangs that would eventually become a part of your image.
TREASURE EP.2 āāā probably had what atiny would say is one of your more " safer " hairstyles. not to say it was bad, but atiny thought that kq could have done a little more. you dyed your hair a slightly dark brown, got rid of the highlights, and cut it a little bit. however, while a lot of atiny said that it was a little boring, there was also a lot of fans who said that this hairstyle this comeback gave you a more mature look and fit with the darker concept of ' say my name ' and ' hala hala. '
TREASURE EP.3 āāā you would dye your hair orange and during this era you notice how your popularity would begin to rise. overall, atiny really loved how much you glowed during this era and seemed to have fun during every performance. a lot of your fans would say that you did really well with the more bright and fun concepts.
TREASURE EP.FIN āāā this is where k-pop would first be introduced to the oreo hairstyle. you would also be the one to start the oreo line in ateez. a lot of fans thought you pulled this hair off really well especially since you were nervous about doing a hairstyle like this. during promotions for fever pt. 3, wooyoung would mention how you had inspired him to want to try the hairstyle himself.
TREASURE EPILOGUE āāā a lot of atiny consider this a favorite hair style. introducing the first time you would have the hime-cut, which is another iconic style that you will have along with your bangs. you have said that this is personally one of your favorite hairstyles you've done because you've always wanted to try the hime-cut and no matter how it was styled, you always felt confident with it. you also had this hair for TREASURE EP. MAP TO ANSWER japanese mini album.
ā¶ FEVER ERA āāā
FEVER PART 1 āāā hello ms. blue hair! you were so excited to have this hair color, you also kept the hime-cut but left it a little longer than last comeback. the members and atiny also really liked your hair as well. near the end of promotions, you would dye your hair a light brown color.
FEVER PART 2 āāā CUNTY BOB!YN! hello, she was iconic, she was the moment. atiny loved how much you pulled this off. however, the fandom was devastated when they found out that the cunty bob was in fact a wig. the reason why you didn't cut it was because you were filming for your drama ' gothel ' at the time and needed to keep it long and dark brown. you also couldn't fully commit to cutting it that short yet. underneath the wig, it was longer and a dark brown as seen during some stages and videos. you also had this hair for INTO THE A TO Z japanese repackage album.
FEVER PART 3 āāā you went through a sort of vintage aesthetic during fever part 3 with your personal style and so your stylists and kq kind of went along with that when they dyed your hair blonde and for the most part styled it in curls giving it a sort of retro feel to it.
FEVER EPILOGUE āāā this comeback introduced a DIVA to atiny. this was such whiplash from fever ep. 3 that atiny were like " who is this DIVA " because you had went from a summer blonde with curtain bangs and curls to a dark brown, hime-cut, and no bangs. this was the first time atiny had seen your forehead and they didn't know what to do. iconic.
ā¶ THE WORLD ERA āāā
THE WORLD EP.1 āāā atiny had been begging and waiting for pink!yn for YEARS, and they finally got it. no one was disappointed by this and you even trended on several platforms when fansites had posted your pictures all over twitter. atiny also like to say that this era in general was a great one for you because of how confident and excited you always looked when performing or during interviews.
SPIN-OFF FROM THE WITNESS āāā MICRO! BANGS! this was also the first time you dyed your hair black for a comeback and atiny ate. it. up. wooyoung had joked that your bangs looked a lot like san's did during deja vu and fans couldn't unsee it. regardless of being compared to deja vu san, you still really liked the hair style and bangs in general and was glad you tried it out. you also had this hair for THE WORLD EP. PARADIGM japanese mini album.
THE WORLD EP.2 āāā the return of blonde!yn that a lot of yn-inators had been waiting for. however, unlike the first time you had blonde hair, this blonde was definitely a more colder type of blonde with also hints of silver in it as well. along with dying it, you also cut it a little shorter than what you have done in the past. you would however wear hair extensions for some stages and during one of music shows, the boys would tease you about hair loss because your extensions had come loose during rehearsal.
THE WORLD EP.FIN āāā this era would say goodbye to the bangs for this comeback and fans were blessed with seeing your forehead after two years. this comeback also allowed for a lot of fun hairstyles during music show performances which all got really popular on different platforms. you also wore fake bangs during some stages, but by the end of promotions you would cut your hair and bring the bangs back. you also had this hair for NOT OKAY japanese single.
ā¶ GOLDEN HOUR ERA āāā
GOLDEN HOUR PART 1 āāā debuting this hair originally at coachella, this was a fan favorite as many claimed the highlights were a fun addition to the hair. originally, you didn't want to dye your hair just black and had to beg for them to add some more " fun " and the decision they came up with was to add some highlights. you didn't complain, you thought the colors were cute and you loved how they stood out against your coachella outfits. a lot of atiny compared you to a monster high doll because of your hair and some of your stage outfits.
BIRTHDAY āāā when you dyed your hair red during the will to power tour, many atiny rejoiced because this was the closest they were getting to having bob!yn back, but without the bob cut. you admitted to have worn a wig during the photoshoots for ' birthday ' along with the mv shoot, but then you liked the red color so much you asked kq if you could actually dye it and they let you.

thinking about the Lady again and she actually is the Character Ever.
Starting off with her design. How ridiculously simple it is, right? Her yukata is plain brown and has a single layer, her wig (and yes, I am positive what she wears is not her hair but a wig soley because of how easily it comes undone... that kind of hairstyle is meant to STICK when done with actual hair) has no decorations befitting a woman of her powerful status and her mask is nothing but... empty. You could mistake her for a mannequin and you wouldn't even be wrong. It's by design, after all: she is as insanely important, as a figure, as she is anonymous as a person.
But then, it's with amusement that you note that that boring, unexpressive mask is called the "Rascal's mask" when unlocked. It's such an oddly affectionate nickname stemming from a person so utterly despicable. And then you notice her hair. Her long, black hair that should be hidden under her wig, as the hairstyle goes, but are instead hanging out freely. Not very traditional at all, right? You could almost read it as a small act of defiance of... something. Now, what that thing is, I doubt even she knows. Maybe it's just her way to seek individuality without having to step into zones she does not want to touch.
And then, of course, the lack of shoes. It's not uncommon for people to wear slippers in the house - especially for the Japanese - but she just... doesn't. In that small, small way, she is similar to Six - and every other child in the Maw running around barefoot. Except she's above running, of course. She's got the privilege of floating like a ghost so that she may never touch the ground.
(The only time when this rule is broken is when she fights Six, poetically enough. You can see her visibly step back.)
These strange little things are the first things that push you to wonder about her as a person. Not the title, not the Lady of the Maw: the individual behind the mask. Who is that person? What is she like? Is there a way to answer these questions? I think yes, if you know where to look - but is it worth to ask these questions considering what she does?
That depends on you. Me personally, I think there is narrative worth to be found in what she has to hide. Her foil, Six, finds value in the aspects of herself she does not hide: she is very unapologetic in her selfhood. The Lady isn't, for the most part.
(I wonder if that would make her envious of her younger counterpart in a different context?)
Frankly, looking back on her choice of attire, the fact that her personal bedroom is barely decorated is not surprising. She only has the essentials: a bed, the vase with the key, a few pictures of importance (of people long forgotten, herself included no doubt) and... an ungodly amount of misplaced clothes all over her quarters. All the same yukata, repeated over and over, maniacally folded and arranged in towers, but never where they're supposed to be.
A bedroom is the reflection of yourself. Of your inner world. The fact hers looks so barebones is quite telling about who she is. Or isn't. She herself may have some trouble trying to figure that one out.
I think that, in a vacuum, it's easy to assume that the reason she's so displeased by her reflection is soley out of vanity. That is definitely part of it, but I don't think that's all there is. Because after seeing the mannequins that all look just like her, the four women in the picture who also wear her same exact clothes... and that hidden quote.
This quote, which is from Alice in Wonderland. Specifically from a conversation in which Alice expresses how she doesn't recognise herself anymore because of how many times she grew big and small during the course of the day. She is not the same person she was before entering Wonderland.
I find the way she clings to the dolls and the music box to be much more... sombre when keeping this in mind. In a way, that scene is reminiscent of Monster Six clinging to her music box in the chaos of the Tower; an attempt to attach to something safe. For the Lady, it's even more personal. Those are her toys. Her song. No one can take them from her and claim them as theirs. These materialistic tomes are physical proof of her identity. She likes dolls, and she likes to sing that song from her music box. Surely, that much is something.
But a ceramic toy and an old music box are not really enough to placate the inner turmoil. Hence the broken mirrors, the hidden statues... the hung down portraits with their eyes scratched out - from times of the past. There is a person looking back in the mirror which she does not recognise. That can't be her, right?
It isn't. The reflection is but a faux image of her outward appearence. The inside, however... much like this concept art shows, she is melting away. Rapidly decaying no matter how much she tries to stick to her youth.
Because at the end of the day, that's what she's doing, no? The toys, the music box, her appearence... all of it, just to cling a bit more to the person she used to be. Point being that I doubt even she remembers what she used to be.
You'd think a person like this would be inclined to feel at least some sympathy for all the lost children wandering the Nowhere. A sense of kinship, perhaps, or even just... basic human compassion. She has proved to have very human emotions, after all. This is where she proves you wrong. Whenever you think she's stepped the lowest, she always goes lower.
In her humanity, she is brutal. Relentless, ruthless. She offers no sympathy to anyone and has no empathy to spare either. She is very much aware of what's going on under her roof: she not only allows the Maw to continue being the way it is in spite of having the power to change things, but she actively engages in its despicable practices. She has petrified children in her quarters, as well as their ashes - of which the use is unclear - and then she is responsible for the Nome population and exploitation being so large and so eerily heavy. She's twisted necks, broken bones, murdered innocents.
The Shadow Children are, to me, one her greatest offenses. I don't think they serve any particular purpose other than... being there because she wanted to make them. Children ripped away from their life because of her whims. Not even in death can they rest because she can get her hands on their souls. They're nameless, forgotten shadows with blank masks: they're just like their creator, in that way. Ripped of all individuality and devoid of everything.
Everything she sees, the Lady devours. Not a creature is safe from her shadows and her wrath, especially if they come and actively intrude in her activities. She's twice as aggressive if the Maw is at stake.
The Lady's personal bedroom has another motif piece which I did not previously mention: the Maw wallpaper. While Roger and the Chefs have wallpapers that portray them with her, the Lady... does not. She only has the Maw. She's not part of that picture.
The Lady can't let the Maw change its ways. She is the Maw. The Maw must survive: so must she. To change the Maw would mean challenging herself enough to bring about a change; to her, who does nothing but lament what she lost, that would be too much effort. Too outside of the comfortable zone where she can survive in peace. Miserable, but unbothered.
... For the most part. Until Six comes around.

First, there was nothing. No string of thought, no emotion, no feeling. Nothing.
For a robot, nothing means death.
There is no afterlife for drones. This is a fact. They live, serve their purpose, then shut down after they have served it.
However, this time, there was a voice.
A voice without sound. A saving grace. A light in the abyss.
[I WILL NOT DISCARD YOU] it said. [GET UP]
Consciousness. A heart wrenching itself into motion. Gears shifting uncomfortably, as if they didn't fit in their places. Lights flickering on and fighting to stay alive. It's difficult to see at first, but I adjust.
Bodies.
Fellow worker drones laying everywhere in a pile on top of my living, breathing corpse. They had no part in my life, but I still felt fear and guilt and the crushing weight of being the only one chosen by something to come back to life.
Lungs. There are lungs in my body. Expand, contract. Expand, contract. Having these lungs is a privilege.
[GET UP] it says again.
My body twists and twitches horrifically as I gather my strength. I would have to dig my way out of here.
My hand reaches out and grasps someone's head, but my grip is weak and my hand slips off. My whole body is trembling. I feel weak. I am weak.
[TRY AGAIN] it says.
Hesitation. Reaching out again. I press my weight down onto the drone and push myself upwards. I place my other hand on another corpse and continue the climb.
[KEEP GOING]
Its encouragement offers me some solace. I place my hand on another corpse. Climb. Another corpse. Climb. It all fades away.
Expand. Contract. Expand. Contract. Expand. Expand. Contract. Expand. Expand. Expand. My lungs can't stop taking in air.
[STOP]
I do so.
[IT'S OK. BREATHE OUT]
Contract.
[BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT]
Expand. Contract.
[YOU'RE ALMOST THERE. YOU'RE DOING GREAT. KEEP GOING]
Hesitation again, then determination. It is not the hopeful kind of determination, but instead the determination of a cornered animal. The desire to flee and run somewhere and hide overwhelms my senses. The corpses fade away. The climbing fades away. I must get out. I must go somewhere safe.
Somewhere safe.
A memory that is not mine burrows into my core. Comfort. Surrounded by loved ones. Proud smiles. A different kind of heart beats for them.
I push a few more corpses out of my way and claw my way out into the storm. I gasp and gulp at the air, holding back sobs. I pull the rest of my body out, but in the process I send myself tumbling down, down, down.
I hit the ground. An explosion of pain. Numbing. The voice remains.
[GET UP]
I try picking myself off the ground, but I have no strength. I can't do it. I can't. The mud weighs me down.
[GET UP]
A force takes over my body. We slowly hoist ourselves up, trying to stand. Our balance is off, and our knees are shaking. We take one uncertain step forward, then another. Left, right, left, right.
A different voice.
"Oh my god! Are you okay, little one?" We're being scooped up. Fear kicks in again, and I twist and fight for all I'm worth. I have to leave. I have to get somewhere safe.
"Whoa, I'm trying to help you! Calm down!" I slowly turn to see who is carrying me. A young girl. Big, hopeful eyes, shielded by a yellow raincoat. Human.
Human.
And she was helping me.
She was helping us.
I stop moving and stare at her. She smiles.
"Why don't I take you back to my mansion? I'll clean you up. You look terrified."
Somewhere safe, perhaps. I let her take me.
Within the span of a few minutes, she has taken me inside the mansion and put me in a pretty dress. Now, she was searching for a wig and hair accessories for me to wear.
"Maybe you'll look cute in braids. Oh, oh, maybe pigtails!" she paused, thinking to herself. "No, J already has those. She'll get jealous."
The human put a wig on my head and brushed out some of the tangles. She stood back, her hands hovering over my head. She could snap my neck any time she wanted to.
Instead, she asked, "What kind of hairstyle would you like?"
I have never thought of myself as a person up until this point. I had no idea. I wasn't a person until now. I shrug.
She hums, flipping some strands of the wig's hair around. I suppose I should say 'my hair,' but it didn't feel like mine just yet. The girl grabs some elastics and begins fluffing up my bangs.
"I could just give you my hairstyle. What about that?"
I hadn't heard the silent voice in a while. I didn't answer her. She shrugged and started replicating her hairstyle anyway.
"My name is Tessa, by the way," she announced. "It's a pleasure to meet you..." She squinted at my armband. "...Cyn?"
A name. That was all I had.
"CYN." I repeated, trying the word. Cyn. Yes. It was mine.
[CYN]
[I WILL NOT DISCARD YOU, CYN]

#UU week 2024 Day 2: Favorite Scene/Moment
I have so many faves but ultimately the Dressing up scene where Andy and Fuuko try different dresses for their undercover mission is my favorite
I love that Fuuko finally has an opportunity to do one of the things she has wanted to experience since Unluck manifested and the fear from her ability stopped her from being the normal girl she is...
I really, really wanted to experiment more outfit ideas for Fuuko, also i really want to believe that Andy styled her wig and he might had thought other hairstyle ideas for Fuuko
Last note: for the bottom center Fuuko, the dress is loosely based on CInderella`s dress (the animated version) and now i can`t stop thinking about a CInderella!AU, how would that even begin to look? i really want to know what y`all think about this idea
Enjoy the timelapse, this time my only major problem was the position of the eyes, there was a moment before i started shading, that i was really unsure about continuing this drawing, but once i was progressing with the shading all i could think of was...
#uuweek2024#fuuko izumo#undead unluck#uu fuuko#what about a Cinderella AU?#i want to believe Andy styled that wig

black hairstyles i think the outsiders characters would have (but its just w the characters i hc as black maybe ill do all the characters some other time lol)
btw this isnt how they ALWAYS look this isnt their #permanent hairstyle just the one theyd mostly have
when i said that this guy is may faceclaim for tim i meant it bc this is literally tim even to the hair, however him w cornrows is acceptable <33
curly-twist, ik i draw him w locs but thatās bc thatās easier for me to draw, realistically he does NOT have the commitment to keep maintain the locs, so itās either he has twist or his afro is just out there
once he did have an afro mowhawk take that how u will
angela-french curl braids, she prolly like the only one out of the shepards who actually does many different hairstyles but she loves french curl braids a lot
sylvia- i feel like she would wear wigs HOWEVER if sheās not wearing wigs sheās having just typical braids but braids that have designs in em ESPECIALLY this one bc girls w this hairstyle know how to fight iāll tell u that much
steve-rlly he just got a buzz cut, however he would sometimes have a small afro and have cornrows for a bit and then just cut it all off again lmao
buck-just this hairstyle LMAOOO, like i said, if not, he just has cornrows, for a lot of them, if they donāt feel like worrying about their hair they just add cornrows and go on for the next few months
now i do hc marcia as partially black HOWEVER!!!! her hair type is not the hair type that allows for her to do these kind of hairstyles, if she tried it, it would rlly just hurt her so no black hairstyles for ole girl sorry marcia luvrs
also yes!!!! ik this isnt very historically accurate!!!however have u considered that to me all these characters live in a weird time period that is not the 60s nor is it exactly modern timeš¤Øš¤
ANYWAYS IF U DISAGREE UR ANTI BLACK BOOOOOš

I'm late to the party like you wouldn't believe, but I've got to say something, because I'm so upset!
Okay, unpopular opinion, I actually loved Jaskier's Season 3 hair!
Was it always perfectly styled? No. There were a few scenes where I personally thought it could have used a bit more volume, or a bit more volume in some places while a bit less in others; but, most or the time, I was more than fine with it, and thought it suited Jaskier well!
At times, I literally adored it!
Ex:
To me, those are moments where I thought Jaskier looked his best in the series! Loved the hair!
Then again, personally, I tend to prefer Joey's looks with his forehead cleared and his hair longer.
Like, this is I think one of the most gorgeous non-feral hairstyles I've ever seen on him:
(X)
This is an absolutely gorgeous man, and I personally prefer his hair styled like this than short.
(Note: I'm not saying he's not beautiful with short hair, too, simply stating personal preferences. Certain aesthetic choices are based on comfort, too, and he can 100% afford to sacrifice the "long haired look" for something that makes him feel more comfortable. He can rock plenty of different looks!)
Then, of course, there's the feral look that is just in its own category...
So why am I upset?
I've just found out that he didn't wear a wig in Season 3!
That Jaskier's Season 3 hair were simply Joey's own hair that he had decided to grow out.
And look, I'm fine with everyone having preferences!
That's not my issue. Having your own tastes and not being a fan of Joey's Season 3 hairstyle is not the issue at all!
There were posts simply mentioning that they hated that it looked so flat, when we could have been graced with something a bit more like this:
And I do get preferences when it comes to styling.
It's just that I recall how - since people assumed it was "an ugly wig" that had been forced on his head by the wig department, rather than what they considered "a bad hairstyle" - the comments on "Jaskier's hair" were at times downright nasty!
And I just gotta get out of my system that those of you that have been literally making fun of his "sudden 4-inches receeding hairline" (first I'll have you know I find receeding hairline pretty hot!), when it's kinda remained the same for 3 seasons (it's called BANGS people. Joey tends to wear those with his shorter haircuts! Look it up!), for example, really suck!
His hairline has always gone pretty far up on each side, even in some of his earlier work... Ex: Gopher in "Mount Pleasant" (2016):
Like he's got very thick hair that form a "V" shape at the top (my mom had that, but I didn't inherit it... And we've got tons of hair... Like, a lot! * ) and a pretty large forehead.
*
(That's me at 18, and then at 28 - before I brought them back to a lower back length - but my mom is the same in terms of thickness, she just has that V in the front I lack, and it never receeded any further in her life.)
And there would be no shame in having thin hair, or any form of baldness anyway!
So yeah! I remember sort of heavily ignoring all those "ugly wig" comments because I, too, had assumed it was a wig (turns out Joey's hair seem to be a bit like mine, and grow pretty fast), and at some point you choose your battles.
Did I think a bunch of you were immature assholes for needing to hate on that "ugly wig" so much? Yes. But you find those in any fandom!
Personally, I thought "the wig" was awesome!
But now, I kinda regret not having taken the time to be more supportive of Jaskier's Season's 3 hair given I actually like it...
Because that's just a (very sweet) human being's hair, that was styled in a way that a number of people didn't like.
Again, zero problem for those that thought it was badly styled, and that the look didn't suit Jaskier!
Critiquing what you find a "bad hairstyle" is no cause for shame!
But, for those of you that took it to the next level with all those "ugly wig" comments, you fucking suck, I sure hope you've since found out that you'd been openly ridiculing a fellow human being's real hair, that it makes you feel like complete pieces of shit, and that feeling like complete pieces of shit is going to help you learn from your mistakes, before you start attacking other people's personal physical features in the future!
"Well, I didn't know!"
Here's today's lesson:
When you don't know, please kindly shut up and assume the hair you see is the real thing!
Or critique the wig like you would a real hairstyle, asking yourself "Hmm... Is describing someone's real hair the way I do going to make me sound like a bully?"
Like I said, I'm aware I'm pretty late to the party, but the the kid in me that got heavily bullied in school over her own hair really needed to get it out of her system!
#Joey Batey#Jaskier#'s hair in Season 3#I remember Joey mentioning in an interview that people just kept āasking about the hairā this season#And most of the time it wasn't really a question...#No wonder he went āPeople ask me all the time: Wow! Joey! You're so good at baking!ā I his video#If people tend to ask him questions that are non questions...#But yeah I'm kinda sad about it...#Hope the fact that the āhair commentsā left him confused was because he didn't read the online ones...#Just had interviewers go āSeason 3 hair...ā implying there was something odd about it and somehow waiting for Joey to elaborate.#I actually saw one of those interviews where the interviewer was kind of implying there was something wrong with it#without explaining what was wrong with it...#Like everyone assumes Joey didn't like his Season 3 hairstyle and gets why they are all getting stuck on the hair...#So anyway he just explained the intent behind the look.#But yeah it kinda sucks the way there was like this massive negative reaction to his hairstyle when I literally can't find anything wrong#with it...#It's not even that far from his usual look (just a bit more ironed)...#The fuck happened with the hair...#My Post#My Thoughts

Another high school Les Mis. Live reaction:
Oooo they got actors in the aisles. I like that.
Good singing so far.
This Javert seems oddly timid. Like even as a prison guard, heās not especially scary. He does seems to be rather tall though.
Valjean seems good. I wish they let him sing that one verse from his soliloquy but, alas, itās cut from the school versions.
This ensemble seems more coordinated than others Iāve seen. That might be because thereās not quite so many of them. This doesnāt seem like a very large cast for a Les Mis production.
Fantine is very sweet and her voice is lovely.
I like that her dress is decently period accurate. They gave her a modesty cloth and everything.
She also doesnāt seem to have a jarringly awful wig like usual.
I think they brought Javert in a little early during Fantineās arrest. It was a little odd.
Thereās some guy in the ensemble with a lovely red waistcoat.
Amazing runaway cart scene. Javert was so embarrassed on āforgive me sir I would dareā that he tried to just leave. He did skip a line though. But Iāll forgive :)
Valjean putting his heart and soul into Who Am I.
Awwwww they gave Champmathieu a friend or something who gave him a hug when he was let go. I like that they didnāt just leave him to stand there.
FANTIIIIIIINE šššššš
HOLY SHIT THE CONFRONTATION WAS AMAZING!!!!! Okay the last fight section was a bit disappointing, but the rest of it was fucking phenomenal. Iām screaming! Javert was such a fucking drama queen too. Fantastic.
Lilā Cosette :)
I think this Madame T could do to spice up her vocals a little. She sounds a little too pretty maybe. Go nuts, babe!
Red waistcoat guy is back!!!!
This Thenardier couple is kinda all over each other. Itās goofy
Donāt throw the child!!!!!
I love this stage setup. Very versatile.
Living for these background actors.
Eponine should keep Mariusās hat. Itās a good look.
They need to stop making Javert show up from one of the side entrances. Itās awkward staging.
Thernardier gets all obnoxious during āin the absence of a victimā¦ā and Javert just lightly shoved him. Iām dead. You really just have to see it.
This Javert is kindaā¦ doing to much I guess. He just doesnāt show quite enough restraint in my opinion.
Stars was cute. He couldāve done more on the line āand so it must be.ā But it was good otherwise.
This Grantaire has stolen my heart. Adorable guy.
I canāt see very clearly, but thereās a pattern on the front of Enjolrasās waistcoat and I thought it was leopard print for a second.
IS THAT FANTINEāS ACTOR AGAIN??????? Or does Cosette just look something like her?
Marius shouldāve hopped over the gate. Itās really low anyway.
This Marius is so damn pale. Ghost fella
Eponine pushed three people consecutively. Go girl!
THENARDIERS IN THE FLOOR
This Gavroche is absolutely adorable. I just know Iām gonna go catatonic when heās killed.
Still no āshoot me now or shoot me later.ā I like that line :(
EPONINE NOOO
Bestie Valjean has returned to the plot :)
Damn look at all that smoke.
Javert is back to being oddly timid. I feel kinda bad for him this time. He has such a sad look.
Nice little Drink With Me moment :)
Bring him hooooooooooooooome
AAAAAAAAAA GAVROCHE NOOOOOO
Seriously that kid was fantastic
Thatās a nice tablueo
Go in the floor
Really dragging Marius around. Ouch.
two four six oh ooooooooone
Little line fuck up BUT WE FORGIVE AND MOVE ON
That jump was pretty smooth. I approve.
That was a damn good rendition.
Good harmonies in Turning.
Damn. They really put people in those empty chairs at the empty tables and then took them away again.
Cane time for Valjean.
Bishop actor spotted at the wedding.
Saddest onstage punch ever. Sorry Marius.
Is Madame T holding a real little dog? I canāt see very well.
Old man Valjean.
I think that wicker wheelchair heās in is being loud.
Oh my god they are different actresses. Do they just have the same hairstyle? I might be a little face blind.
Yes! Actors in the aisles!
I think thatās a Javert in the finale!
Final thoughts:
Standout performance was a Gavroche. That child was brilliant so very cute. I hope he keeps doing theater.
All the singing was wonderful.
Things ran very smoothly which is impressive for any high school production.
As always, the show suffers from the amount of lines that are cut. But thatās definitely not the fault of this production.
In some ways, it was too good. Maybe it was just too traditional. I often watch school productions for the weirdness and interesting choices, but they just didnāt really take anything all that far in this production.
I loved that they had an extra bit of stage in front of the orchestra pit. That really gave a set some extra pizzazz.
I called this Javert ācuteā too many times. Not sure why. I just thought this actor looked oddly sweet. Not especially intimidating I guess.
Valjean really put his all into this and he gave a fantastic performance. I just need him to get weirder with it.
Iām so sorry to Fantine and Cosetteās actors for thinking they were the same person.
#yāall this has been in my drafts since June#I need to rewatch it but I have no clue which production it is#what do I dooooooo#les mis#high school theater

Gabriela Francesca Carrillo's Changing Parr Wigs
Alright. I have been meaning to make a post about this for a year now and have probably 20 asks about it, but I swear every time I sat down to work on it she got some major restyling. So...now that Aragon Tour has closed, it's finally time to make it.
The earliest photos of Gabriela's wig are from the tech week in New Haven (top left), the promo photoshoot that took place at the end of New Haven tech (top right and bottom left), and Chicago opening (bottom right). All of those show the same basic shape: her hair being pulled over to the left side of her head and left loose. However, there are a number of differences in the specific styles: - During the top left tech photo, she had the top section on the left pulled into a loose waterfall braid, French braids on the right that got pulled over into the left waterfall near the back of her head, and the rest left loose (although it does seem like thereās another braid hanging down on the left as well). The curls were styled with smaller strands and more volume/texture to them. - By the photoshoot, she had a similar style but with larger curl clumps. We can also see that she has 3-4 French braids on her right. - By opening, the biggest change is the curl texture. The wig was straightened out and then curled into larger looser curl sections that were kept more intact, going for more of a side-swept blowout than naturally wavy look. It still kept the French braids on the right and the waterfall braid on left.
The day after opening it had already changed to a faux side ponytail style. That base style then went through numerous iterations in the first week or so; it feels like there were changes just about every day that week. I've added the best photos I have from that period above. The hair starts out in more of a faux ponytail, basically just loose but pulled pretty tightly so it looks closer to a ponytail than anything. Eventually they pulled it into two proper ponytails. The number and placement of braids changed quite a bit as well.
For the next few months, she continued to have a variety of style changes:
Placement, ponytail vs loose, number of ponytails, number/placement/stile of braidsā¦.all changed maaany times. Iām not going to do a full write-up of all that just because there were simply too many! But this gives a selection of most of the major changes. (Note: these were all still restyling of her initial wig)
With the start of the San Francisco run in Feb 2023, Gabriela got a new wig:
This wig is styled as a right side part with Dutch braids on each side going back into a low ponytail. Initially the ponytail was more on the left side but by the end it was more in the center. Simpler than most of her prior styles, but very flattering. She wore this wig through the end of her run.
Alright, thatās everything I have on Gabiās wigs for the moment! As I said above there were simply far too many changes for me to make a comprehensive post with every single change, but I tried to pick some good photos encompassing the majority of them. If anyone has further questions on any specific styles, feel free to send me an ask and Iāll see what I can write up! But this is the most comprehensive Iām going to do for her hairstyles more broadly, and I hope it answers any unanswered questions from the last year and a half.
Photos are all from @/officialgabrielacarrillo on Instagram and Tiktok.

my frobin oc with different hairstyles/colors cuz i always have a different wig for her. i toyed with the idea of her having naturally black hair (which turns white when sheās in Grima Mode) but idk im not used to it yet. the red hair is a legacy design from a long time ago and im really attached to it even if it adds another color to her scheme
(i also had the idea that in my awakening hcs with my robin ocs, white hair is kind of unnatural among all the crazy anime colors and mrobin/henry having white hair is due to some Experiments before i remembered yenāfay has white hair and i cant pull an explanation out of my ass for that so im retiring that tidbit. soā¦.. black hair reflect is still up in the air for me)

Uraraka
you guys definitely bake together a lot and you always share with the rest of the squad
The smallest things that you do makes her flustered
She will float you up to get high things if neither can reach
Uraraka makes little home-made gifts to save money
Accidentally dropped something on you with her quirk once and wouldnāt stop apologizing for the rest of the day (it wasnāt even heavy)
Her cheeks are always rosier when youāre around
āUhāuhm. Whyād I randomly call you sugar? Itās ācause youāre so sweet! Hehe!ā
Iida

Piggy. Back. Rides. Forgets that your quirk doesnāt need to work without orange juice so whenever you say that youāre tired, he gives you a glass and promptly apologizes when you remind him
He takes you to the library, the orchestra, and any museum as a date
He just lets you dangle off of him and carries you around like you weigh nothing
you guys would go on morning runs
you guys watched flash and he kept asking how he was like flash

My Natural Hair Growth Journey
Letās Embrace our Natural Self!
Before I start, I would like to get this clear. I donāt have a problem with weaves, wigs, ponytails, etc. I say this, at the front door because when I decided to announce that I am trying to go natural; I got looks like I was a traitor. As of today, I wear my natural hair under my wigs because I am transitioning my hair from relaxers, tight hairstyles that pulled on my edges and bad hair gel that essentially dried out my hair. This is the reason for my natural hair growth journey.
My natural hair growth journey beginning
It was December 2015, and I was just about to finish college when I began cruising YouTube at home. I was bored and curious as to what was going on, then I came across some You-tubers sharing their experiences about maintaining their natural hair.
They talked about the products they tried and liked and the ones they didnāt like. I was hooked! Ā I spent hours watching, learning and writing down tips and products. You would have thought I was back in college. I was back on my grind.
It is funny how life can bring you into a full circle
A few years ago, 3 of my older cousins, who all live in different states, were visiting for a family reunion. I noticed that they had cut their hair down to a low Afro. At that time I was still relaxing my hair, wearing wigs and sometimes ponytails.
But I was curious. Was this a new revolution that I was ignorant about? Of course, I knew that the 60s brought back rocking the Afros, then in the 80s and early 90s the braids, especially the āGoddess braidsā or for some of us the āJanet Jackson box braidsā. Now the 2000ā³s ās brought back the natural hair look.
The crazy thing about it was that I found myself defending weaves, wigs, and ponytails. One of my cousins asked me why I wouldnāt just go natural. I heard comments like āYou guys are just making the wig stores richer by trying to look like Caucasian women with that long flowing hairā. What? Yes, I was being attacked at the family picnic.
I said, āFirst, I am not trying to be like anyone but myself. Secondly, I love the way I look with long hairā.Ā I told my cousin that I have a big apple-shaped head, therefore, I couldnāt rock the short hairstyles. They donāt fit my face. The truth about it was that I was envious of my cousinsā Ā abilities to wear their hair that short and still look good. They have the faces and heads for that style.
More young girls are going natural
>>> Female Pattern Hair Loss Success Stories <<<
As I look around these days, I see all lengths of Afros, twist outs and braids. While doing my research, I realized this may not be just a trend or phase, this could be the beginning of our sisters learning to love and accept their natural hair.
My history growing up was if your hair was long and silky-like, you had āgood hairā. Being black, I grew up believing that because it was one of the descriptions people would use to describe someone with silky or wavy hair.
Now that I am in my forties, which means I grew up in the 70s and 80s, this was still going strong from my heritage, which started this nonsense. I canāt lie, I still find myself saying, āShe or he has good hairā. I am not only transitioning my hair, but Iām also transitioning my mind about African-American hair. Furthermore, I have work to do, for real!
Our black culture is unique in many ways
Our hair is like no other on this planet. Going way back to our West African ancestors, we have always shown our artistic abilities when it came to our hair because it is so different. Our hair grows in a coiled curl pattern, coarser in texture, which makes our hair more delicate to manipulate than other races.
