think I've figured out what bugs me so much about Natasha Pulley's work - every female character who could potentially interfere with the ~gay couple~ is portrayed in a negative light

ngl i think i kind of was a genius for being like 'yeah this character is a scary killyou cannibal scary killer who scary kills you' and then realizing that the way my worldbuilding works out is that there's a nonzero chance that if you leave literally any body parts over they can just come back, depending on what they believe in their heart of hearts can kill them. Of course she'd start eating her kills. She probably tried normal stuff first and then realized it didn't work and she had to try harder if she wanted to actually keep them dead.

#red rambles #im working on a character who i made up years and years ago and wasnt even happy with then because he didnt seem to have enough like #interior thoughts he was just like a guy who killed people when he was stressed and his life was constantly stressful and then he killed on #person too many and they were like 'this is fucking untenable and he has to die' and then they killed him #which is soooooooooo absolutely nothing honestly. Like it works as a barebones summary but i want to stress there was actually straight up #nothing else there. the entire rest of his whole whatnot was just being entangled with Haven who is a different character who at the time #ALSO felt unsatisfyingly lacking in interiority but at lesat he had really complex motivations and action flowcharts. that werent just 'i #get grumpy and i just go kill some random person with no regard for what the consequences will be and then i am so mean and i kill you'#now theres a lot more happening. i really didnt. like.#okay so i had a Backstory worked out but it was vague because i didnt know what the fuck he WANTEDDDDDDD right like. i had no motivations a #literally all except 'oohhh i kill people ooohhh i like killing people ooohhh im erratic i kill people' and the background i HAD was like.#Upper class scion of some rich family whose family honest to god just did not like him very much and also [gestures vaguely] i guess he #maybe kicked dogs or something and then he ??nebulous timeline meets haven and then kills his sister or kills his sister and very quickly #thereafter meets haven but i usually lean toward the former because haven LOVES convincing people to kill their whole families its like #cathartic for him because he would love to kill his entire family but physically cannot do it. but like kind of the implications of this #as far as i was concerned given this is set in the mid 1800s was like. ehhh he's getting away with this because he's rich white and male an #it pays to turn a blind eye to his indiscretions or w/e. a genderswap means that she'd be subject to a lot more scrutiny on basis of like #misogyny. LOL. and i already had the preexisting 'hates half sibling' (i genderswapped the sister into a brother because why not) and 'hate #parents' and 'parents strongly dislike her' and 'unsettling' and it worked nicely to start giving me actual fucking. On: today i dreamt...

What started as a story about a group of gangster breaking into an abandoned (but not really?) prison to film their movie and being caught soon devolved into an international conspiracy filled with subplots about love and corruption, culminating with both groups that we thought were equally righteous finding out not everything was quite as it seems.

#luly talks #i had to run a man on all 4s to catch him it was great #movie-dream started about like torture with our protags being thrown into a container at first full of blood and missing limbs #but that soon got dropped w the only thing left of it being this one man who had part of his jaw and ribs falling/peeling off #and he had to lovers an old one who was kissing him and a new one #(a cop; too) who was looking at his naked for for the first time as he looked at the sea and sunset #and she slowly approached him before starting to kiss his somehow still bleeding wounds as he mourned the pain of being crucified #like that guy literally never showed up again #oh my god actually there was something aside from that there was a really fucked up sims world that just couldn't be real #and ended w marge and homer drowning i think (their house was underwater) and Maggie dying too as a nursery rhyme played #and there was also a random event of domestic violence #anyway about the movie-dream; it had something to do about the government making illnesses and having the cure but keeping it #and it was tied to reagan but we all were talking spanish (tbf movie-dream; could've been dubbed DKDHNSGD) and the reason why we realized #this was because a radio message of a british girl named sumthin like casey i think who had cancer or something #and basically the government knew and had the mediums to cure her but wouldn't do it #so in the end me and this girl who discovered this conspiracy and the other and og group who was doing fuck all i guess came back together #and at first my friend pretended to be all of our enemies (she was enemies w only one guy there) but then we turned on the guy #and as I guess revenge on the people who were supporting this goverment conspiracy and helping it instead of killing them we grabbed them #and flashed a weird scan light onto their eye which made em be infected #<- in dream this shit was cool as fuck ok?#and then everyone went on w their lives and in the bud #bus* ppl spoke w me and gave me food leftovers to help out those who needed em but it felt... awkward #like they were doing it out of fear instead of kindness y'know #oh btw i rode an helicopter 😁

#freya talks aai2 #my goals of not being a forgotten/forsaken hater are not going well. he goes from 'kay is a dear ACQUAINTANCE' to 'i've not known her for #very long but i know she'd never kill anyone' to 'you are the kay i know so well' in the span of a few hours and it's like.#okay so you know it was too early in their acquaintanceship for this to really make sense but you still wanted a 'deep' and 'meaningful'#relationship to take the lead in this plotline. his sister is literally right there. it wouldnt have been hard to swap her in either because #she's literally investigating the smuggling situation. it would make perfect sense for her to be there following a lead instead of suddenly #revealing kay's promise notebook went missing. im not saying that the super-gentle super-meek persona would have made more sense with #franziska but honestly it wouldnt have made sense with any of them because it's more a caricature of a character rather than being an actual #previously unseen facet of one but you could've done so many more interesting things with franziska! she has an actual personal stake in #edgeworth's decision to continue as a prosecutor or not and we could get actual insight into how her own relationship with prosecuting and #its inextricable link to her father has affected her as a person. like when you show amnesiac kay the prosector badge all she says is that #it feels heroic warm and familiar like someone she knew used to show it to her often. and like cool. it's basically telling us she and her #father were close. which we already knew. imagine if franziska had said something like that or had had a more complex reaction. there would #be so many avenues to go with that!! you'd even be able to delve deeper into what edgeworth thinks about it all. like what if franziska was #just. happier. without her memories. then you'd have a story where edgeworth has to reckon with whether it might be kinder to let her live a #different life where she's unburdened by literally everything she's been made to go through and give her the same opportunity of starting #over that he now has.#im just writing fanfiction at this point but like. the amnesia plot is so frustrating to me HAHA they dont even do anything interesting with #it!! it's just oh she's lost her memories and we need to get them back because she's not 'herself' anymore without any discussion of like.#the nature of identity or living as who other people know you as vs whoever you might actually be #WHEN THE WHOLE CASE IS ABOUT EDGEWORTH DECIDING ON HIS PATH FORWARDS AND GRAPPLING WITH BEING THE PROSECUTOR EVERYONE HAS KNOWN HIM AS #whatever. WHATEVER.#annotations #some people might argue so it's not rehashing old conflict between franziska and edgeworth and like ok. she literally repeats her 'are you #running away from me again' line during this case. does that sound like the words of resolved conflict?#i know WHY they use kay. it's because they need to justify her place in this game and because they want to play on the pseudo father-figure #thing they played up in aai2 to contribute to the overall themes of fatherhood this game is dealing with. and to that i have to say that i #might just not be the audience for it because i've never bought that version of their relationship and i dont think kay should be in aai2 #anyway. plus i posit that franziska would've still worked for that theme because. literally everything. about her.

satoru cried in his office when he realized that he blamed you for something that wasn't your fault.

suguru's coworker sat on his lap as part of a weird inside joke everyone else at the school has between the two. he has no idea why he was so defensive to you and he truly wasn't cheating. he was so angry that you would believe he cheated that he started calling you out for the first thing he could think of, wearing revealing tops in public. satoru had to call you 8 times before you picked up and let him explain it to you. he's forcing her to transfer to kyoto so she never has the chance to hurt your relationship again (remember that suguru never left and became a teacher alongside satoru in my aus). the pictures sent to the reader leave out how suguru uncomfortably asked her to get off of him shortly after, since they were around other sorcerers and teachers (as politely as he could).

kento came home with so many flowers for you and he still feels awful.

toji's dumbass freaked tf out when you took home your clothes from his place. he was out drinking and gambling and didn't want to tell you. your relationship is rocky for a while but he hasn't gambled since.

choso is still learning communication skills and cried when he realized that he was being mean to you over nothing.

sukuna is a terrible texter and does NOT communicate his feelings well. this is him being vulnerable af with you because he really does love you and has no idea why he was grabbing another girl's ass at the bar. he tried to chase you down after you threw a drink on him, slapped and yelled at him, and ran out.

yuji completely panicked when a curse attacked him out of nowhere when he was out with you. you can't see them and you were so confused and scared that you couldn't move. he just cares about you so much and couldn't stand the fact that you could've died. he made megumi listen to him cry about how mean he was to you for like 3 straight hours.

megumi has no idea how to deal with his emotions and has never been in a relationship before so he literally thought you guys were broken up LMAO. he's trying really hard for you.

in my au toge can speak, just not direct commands, so he still rarely talks unless necessary. i thought it would be nice to have the reader understand that all of his communication skills are terrible and help him work on them.

noritoshi has a terrible outlook on love and relationships from his upbringing so it took him a minute to understand how awful his words were. he truly does love you and wants to marry you. he lowkey constantly thinks about cutting off the kamo clan so they can't control his life anymore.

ino literally cried to nanami after your argument. he's so used to putting jujutsu responsibilities before his own life and feelings, and struggles with having to take care of something that can't be fixed with his power or strength. nanami also called you and apologized for meddling in your relationship, he realized it was inappropriate but he just really cares about you and ino and wants the best for both of you.

yuta literally didn't even realize how insane and controlling he was being until you called him out. after he took you home, he latched onto you with his head crammed in your lap because he was so upset thinking that you might leave him. he swears to himself that he will kill himself before he treats you like that again, and he never does it again.

i don't like when big argument smaus end with "no biggie i forgive you! <3" so i tried to make sure that the reader either made sure they know they fucked up big time, apologized and talked to them face-to-face, they'd never do it again, or you wouldn't forgive them so easily, etc.

sorry this was so long! but i love knowing the background info and author's thoughts for smaus since they can be kind of limiting in content! i think i'll add background info and fun facts after all my future smaus for those who are interested. as always thank you so much for reading ♡
