Hi anon! This is not a bother at all, in fact I’m delighted to loredump about my favorite menace :D

Many probably already know, but Avoryx is Hopper’s mother! Now although she’s known as a particularly destructive, even for a dragon, she’s actually a pretty alright parent. Before Hopper was born she arrived at wherever my comics take place and just.. wreaked havoc. Slaughtered and ate all the other dragons that lived there and then laid a single egg.

Avoryx is not at all bothered by Hopper’s pinkness. In fact as soon as Hopper was old enough to venture out on her own she stopped caring. Hopper was out there doing her own thing and the sooner her hatchling grows independent the better. If her whelp came running back to her lair with knights giving chase she’d eat them and then she’s usually aggravated enough to slink out of the ruins she made her lair in and rip apart whichever settlement she stumbles on.

Also, instead of the classic dragonfire, Avoryx expels black smoke from her maw, and a scalding tar-like liquid drips from between her blackened teeth. Her presence is announced by a cloud of smog, a telltale sign of impending death. The unknown liquid she leaves behind on her path of destruction can be collected. It’s sticky, corrosive, and smells vile, but dragon slayers and alchemists need to collect whatever samples they can if they hope to one day slay this beast.

Oh and she has an old “pet” raven that acts as an alarm clock and reports activity near her vicinity. It also picks scraps from between her teeth - a personal dentist!

It’s kind of a mystery how the bird has been spared from becoming a morsel.

Why did Milsiril help with Mithrun's recovery?

Since people seemed to be interested in the post I made about why she adopted Kabru I wanted to write my thoughts about her helping Mithrun too.

I think with Mithrun it gets a little trickier tho, both because Mithrun himself doesn't speak much about his past and because most of it we get from a third party account. I'll also try to discuss based on what I see people say about their relationship although is probably gonna be shorter than Kabru's (came back to say it's not shorter), tw for self-harm because of Mithrun recovery drawings.

1 - So Mithrun could become a canary again

This is the theory I see the most often, probably it's whats on the main story, as far as I'm remembering there's no other mentions of Milsiril related to Mithrun besides the role she plays in sparing his life.

That story isn't reliable tho, Mithrun constantly points out that Kabru is glossing over details and Kabru himself is depicted as cooking (as the kids say) a good story that resonates with an audience.

So we can't really trust that this framing is objectively true

But even so taking just what happened, without the context Kabru added, what she did was spare his life once she realized he still had a hint of desire to exist within him.

Kabru lies (or rather embelishes a lot) when he says "and from that point onward, Mithrun lived only to slay demons. He ate even he had no desire to eat. He lived on even though he had no desire to live." he was useless for 20 years after this so 'saving him cause he will be useful later' isn't really too accurate. Milsiril also wasn't involved with his rehab until Utaya 18~19 years later so it definitely wasn't for this that she helped.

2 - So Mithrun could avenge Utaya by defeating the demon (She winded him up and set him on a path, you know, like a doll)

I think this one is kinda mean, I've seen people speak as if she only helped him after Utaya because she wanted to use him to defeat the demon. But there's no evidence Milsiril even cares about the demon or that she wants vengeance. My girl literally ran away and decided to look away instead of continuing to fight (and I can't blame her)

This, as far as I understand, is based both on the above section and on this part from her adventurer's bible extra

She shows up to visit him and brings up the demon, and then sets him up to go after it, but once again I think it relies on an unkind interpretation of her character; you gotta assume she has unseen ulterior motives already before the comic even starts, since this whole comic is talking about how she completely misinterpreted who Mithrun was when they were in the same squad, and how she feels he's actually someone she would get along with. If you know Milsiril, you know she only gets along with other misfits, she's acknowledging Mithrun as someone who was broken like her even before his desires were eaten.

This is the complete comic

"I always hated you. You were beautiful and perfect, and everybody loved you. You didn't seem to have a single worry or flaw.

But when I saw the dungeon you'd built, I was startled. It was such a warped, convoluted place built from inferiority, jealousy, lies and anger.

I wish I'd tried really talking to you. We might have hit off pretty well. Too late now, I guess"

She acknowledges him as a human being, when before she only saw him as the embodiment of the people that bullied her. And right after that she talks about the demon. There's no indication for a wish of vengeance anywhere in this comic, I'd even say the demon and the dungeons are barely important to what Milsiril is thinking, there's only belated compassion.

3 - Cause he was a new "project"

Related to the reasons pointed out in my Kabru post, people assume Milsiril is the type of person that wants/needs to feel superior to someone, or to put on an altruistic front or what have you. And that interpretation also leaks into how they see her helping Mithrun. I said the main reasons why I don't think she's that type of person on the other post so I wont repeat. But I don't think Mithrun is a "project" at all.

This was right after she fought on Utaya, I imagine a little after or a little before she took in Kabru, so she "had a project" already if you're gonna go with that wording. She was also finally free from the canaries and she had no obligation towards Mithrun. She also only went back to him decades after she spared his life, my assumption is that she did it because she finally could. She couldn't have guessed when she spared his life that 19 years later she would be free from the canaries and that Mithrun still wouldn't have been recovered and would have been needing her.

4 - And finally, why did she spare his life? Why did she help him recover?

This one isn't as straight foward as Kabru's adoption to me. I imagine the fact he had the potential to still be useful could be one of the reasons she spared Mithrun at first, but I also think that he newfound empathy she developed for him when she saw his dungeon might have been part of it, that seeing he still had some sort of drive and desire made her have hope he could still live.

Milsiril really seems like the type of person that likes to nurture, while I wouldn't say this makes her a "softie" and not able to execute him (I'm sure she could do a mercy kill) I think that soft side made her want to give him a chance. There's no proof for any of that ofc, and Kui confirmed in a QnA Mithrun wasn't arrested or executed because they were desperate for people to be in the canaries. (The choice probably wasn't only on her)

Now why she helped him? I think it's because she saw he could be helped.

She says herself she's only visiting, probably to check on him

"They said you've fully recovered but you might as well be a corpse." so by this point I think his body has recovered and he has managed to stabilize? But as this extra from the daydream hour shows he needed 24/7 care to stay alive in those first 18 years

Like she said he might as well be a corpse, he'd be in bed all day and have servants keeping him from dying, he would have fits where he would harm himself, he had no way to go on. It even says that even things that could remind him of his time as dungeon lord weren't allowed so he was probably being kept away from demon mentions (after all I doubt servants even knew about a demon)

But then when she mentions the demon he immediately gets up

She's surprised so I don't think she expected that, and she goes and uses that reaction to help him "Then first eat this. If you finish it all I'll take you to a dungeon again"

Rather than using him to fight the demon I think she's using the demon to help him live. Here's what his bio says

"After Mithrun was recused from the dungeon, he spent a while on the verge of death. However, with time and rehabilitation he gradually became able to lead a normal life again. The Utaya incident was the event that roused him. He thought, 'If I'd been there, I know I could have dealt with the demon somehow' and he resolved to return to active duty. (...)"

So it worked, Milsiril might have been there to help with his rehab but it was the Utaya situation that finally was able to motivate him to find a way to live and rejoin the canaries, so I think rather than setting him up to kill she realized it could be used to help him.

Which isn't a perfect solution, as you might know by the ending, his fate was to die either way: either he would die trying to kill the demon or he would defeat it and die because he had nothing else to live for.

But it was what Milsiril could do for him at that moment and it was how she managed to help him go forwards.

And that's my thoughts about Milsiril and Mithrun, I don't think they as big in each other's lives in canon as some people assume, there's barely a mention of Milsiril on his profile and she's barely named in his backstory. Peeta was the perfect boyfriend. You realised this really early on in your relationship.

When you mentioned that you liked the smell of roses, the next day he was in your front yard planting rose bushes. You almost cried when you found out he came over every morning to trim, care for and water them.

You often visited him in the victors village, and today was a short, but difficult walk there. You were having the worst cramps which you mentioned to Peeta this morning when he tended to your roses.

“Peeta!” You called as you entered his home.

“Upstairs bathroom!” He yelled back and you began to walk upstairs.

When you turned into the room tears immediately filled your eyes. He had run you a bath, with rose petals floating in the water.

“Peeta-“ you could barely say anything.

“You said you had cramps…and I don’t know much about that stuff but I asked Katniss and she said heat helped sometimes so I ran you a bath.” He explained, completely oblivious to how perfect he was.

When you first started dating Peeta you were worried because of how the Capitol made it seem like he and Katniss had something going. But how could you be, he was so loyal and trustworthy.

“Thank you.” Tears fell from your eyes, more emotional today than any other.

“You don’t like it?” He asked, laced with concern.

“No no! Peeta…it’s perfect, you’re perfect. It’s just so nice and nobody has ever done something so sweet for me before.” You explained.

“Hey it’s okay.” He held you so tightly as he hugged you, stroking your hair. He didn’t mind if you cried on his shirt or were emotional. He was there for you.

“Well I’ll wait downstairs.” He smiled.

“No…you don’t have to leave.” You blurted out.

He nodded.

“I won’t look.” He stated as you pulled at the hem of your shirt. He looked at his feet while you got undressed. You hadn’t gotten there yet.

“I don’t mind if you look, Peeta.” You told him, his slowly raised his gaze. His eyes did a quick search of your naked body but they locked onto your eyes. It was small gestures like that, the ones he didn’t even know he was doing.

“Probably shouldn’t do this today.” Gesturing to yourself. “I’m all bloated and gross-“ you tried to explain.

“You’re so beautiful n/n” he stated just above a whisper. He was the only one that called you n/n. You smiled softly. How did you get so lucky.

You climbed in the bath, the water was so warm and soothing.

You spoke for a while, before Peeta offered to wash your hair.

He massaged your head to gently, making sure soap didn’t go into your eye. He covered every inch of your head with soap and used a bowl to help rinsing it out. He used his hand as a shield from the water. Treating you with more care than you ever had. He finished by smoothing your hair back and softly kissing your forehead.

He was perfect.

He went downstairs to let you change and when you walked into the kitchen he was buttering some steamy bread.

“I thought you’d be hungry, so I made bread before you came. It just came out the oven.” He handed you a plate.

You could do nothing except smile at this perfect boy. “Thank you. It smells delicious.” You spoke as you took a bite of the soft bread. Warm butter on your lips.

“Holy shit!” You smiled widely. He smiled to himself, proud of his work.

“What do you wanna do today?” Peeta asked.

“Can we maybe just lie down. Rest.” You asked.

He smiled and nodded.

When you had eaten about six slices of bread, Peeta didn’t make a comment about how much you ate, he simply asked if you wanted him to make more.

Soon enough you were upstairs in his room. He walked into the on suite to drain the bath water before he lay down.

“Shit.” He spoke as he walked out of the bathroom, shirt covered in water. He obviously leaned to far forward when draining the water.

“Oh no.” You stood up, that’s when he saw you had changed into one of his plain t-shirts and your underwear.

“Wow.” He breathed out. “You’re really beautiful.” He told you so genuinely.

You smiled. Looking at him with nothing but love.

You heard some movement before you heard his voice again.

“You’re really handsome.” You told him and lifted his chin, stroking his cheek when you approached.

He smiled too.

“Thank you for showing me.” You smiled at him brightly. Teary again, it was a big deal.

You squeezed his hand to let him know it was okay.

You pulled him into his soft bed and you both lay entangled in each other. Your head on his bare chest and he played with your hair.

“Is this okay.” You asked as traced one of his scars.

He hesitated before nodding.

“You don’t have to say yes.” You say up slightly.

🌟She is causing chaos, too. Aka, trying to ride Barnaby like a horse, and climb Poppy like a mountain.

🌟You do have to pull her off, but then she just plops where she is and starts telling dramatic stories.

📚Eventually harassed Howdy about turning into a butterfly.

🦋Pretty soon after he clocks out and passes out on the grass.

📚You carry him home, or drag him, and get him in his bed. You stay to ensure he doesn't make up and try to do something stupid.

🦋He wakes up the next morning and remembers absolutely nothing, but is very embarrassed when you tell him.

hmm.. about time i properly posted about monster tower, huh? HERE WE GO

MONSTER TOWER (cw for violence)

pizzahead loves horror movies. hes obsessed with them to an unhealthy extent. but he’s quite the film critic! pizzahead becomes obsessed with creating the perfect horror movie. and what’s better than creating real monsters to act out your plans?

peppino: the main subject of pizzahead’s obsession. pizzahead sees him as the ultimate protagonist to his movie, so he kidnaps peppino along with stick and gustavo to be apart of it. he uses a chemical he developed to turn peppino into a vampire.

gustavo: being abducted meant he was also turned into a monster! this time, a werewolf! the tower is kept in a perpetual state of moonlight, so he can never transform back into a human.

stick: he was transformed into a merman, much to his dismay. it’s hard to walk around with a giant fishbowl on your head! but he gets by.

pepperman: phil was hired by pizzahead to be an actor for the movie. what he didn’t know was that pizzahead was going to beat him to death and immediately revive him from the dead as a demon! now he serves pizzahead’s every command.

vigilante: one of the few non-monsterified tower residents. vigi comes from a long line of monster hunters. and their specialty? slaying vampires. he begins to question his entire career when he meets phil for the first time.

noise: theo was a popular eighties celebrity. that was until he was brutally stabbed to death, along with his girlfriend in an unsolved murder case. pizzahead brought the two back to life to be actors in his movie, as they both had experience prior.

fake peppino: pizzahead was able to contact alien life! said alien came down, and the two formed an alliance. the alien could take as much resources from earth as it wanted, as long as it helped act in pizzaheads movie and take the form of a certain italian.

brick: starting out as a small pink blob, the more she ate, the bigger she got. now she’s apart of a giant hive mind of pink slime rats around the tower.

noisette: as previously mentioned, she was stabbed to death! now she lives in the tower and provides meals for monsters that have certain dietary requirements.

burton: he eventually entered the tower after stick had gone missing, and was turned invisible by pizzahead as a result. hes finally with stick! but at the cost of his visibility.

gerome and john: the two had been at the tower for generations. once pizzahead took ownership of the tower, he cursed the both of them. john was cursed to keep the tower standing, while gerome had to do whatever pizzahead said. he now serves as a janitor around set.

pizzaface: a giant, moldy, undead, floating pizza director! he’s equipped with the weaknesses of every monster in case they were to discovery or even turn against him.

pizzahead: the main man. hes a scientist who was obsessed with cinema, specifically horror films, from a young age. his science became so advanced that he found his pizza body parts obsolete and began to replace them with machinery. now he rules over the tower, a perfectionist making sure every single shot of his movie is exactly how it should be.

everyone is trapped within the tower. they all have a relatively cozy life, as pizzahead tries to appease to their demands. yet he refuses to let them out until his film is finished.
