Taking a stab at drawing what I think Bella Lester could look like as I think she seems pretty cool
With and without makeup
#she probably died early 1920s but i think she probably would have been wearing a bob and makeup before they became properly mainstream/respe#ctable as a sort of backlash/rebellion against daniel as i assume there was a period where she wasnt living with uim before she had to marr#arthur? havent really looked up how that stuff would have worked at the time though#or maybe while she was living with arthur before they got married (as it works so far in my head)#wip#also the makeup + bob as she was interested in clothesmaking and such so i assume she likelyhad a fair ammount of interest in fashion#reading my tags back and i want to clarify that she and arthur are both aromantic to mr#bella lester#malevolent#my art

Seeing Kafka in overtly revealing ("sexy") dresses in fan arts: I just... don't see why? Me over here: The most 'revealing' thing that I can imagine her in, if I envision her without a coat draped over her shoulders, is something like this. Am I just weird; where am I supposed to see this 'overtly revealing' nature of hers that oozes 'sexy'? That woman has class, and in that, I think she's sexy (f I have to use the word). And where do I get that impression from? Her entire default attire screams it at me from the rooftops.
#[ mini study. ] she must have sought something extraordinary. everything she does comes at a great cost.#[ class. class. /class/. ]#[ she's refined. everything from how she walks; to her mannerisms; to how she phrases her sentences. all of it plays into it. ]#[ that's also /why/ she's so good at unnerving everyone in my opinion; it's because she has a certain stature to her. ]#[ i swear. she wears high-waist shorts. yes. but can we remember that the /high waist/ element is very important? ]#[ that was literally an element in the 1960s when these shorts became more mainstream to counteract the concept... ]#[ of bare legs. ensuring the waist was covered. even if with high-waist; the waist gets cinched which is inherently an 'attractive' thing.#[ yes. ]#[ but still; that keeps her shorts also within a realm of some semblance of attire conservatism/classiness. ]#[ and then out of everything she could 'collect'-- it's COATS. ]#[ an item of clothing that is often the first thing we judge a person by; and often is tied to perception/judgement of elegance. ]#[ sophistication and even a level of... professionalism. and if we look at public figures-- we often account status by their presentation.#[ or hell; their sense of style. and the first element of someone's presentation is often derived from their coat. ]#[ i feel like i need to stuff this post into the longer meta tag as well for sheer reference for myself. but i just!!! ]#[ i hate the super overtly fan arts of her. i don't understand where this perception comes from. ]#[ meta. ] the mara's tether is firmly in her grasp. she will not pull upon it before the designated time; nor shall she relinquish it.

having so many girl blorbos at once is like. i'm going to get a good grade in being really obsessed with shit that only 3 other people on earth care about enough to have established headcanons, something that's both normal to want and possible to achieve,
#thank goodness i write about 80% of them interacting with the mainstream male faves or i'd be a goner#i say that in a tongue-in-cheek way but actually#when i want people to actually read my f/f stuff or my platonic stuff.... i DO put men in it#sometimes in the background sometimes in the foreground#the exact same way i get people to read my poly fic by baiting them with the mainstream monogamous ships#and my fic is largely mainstream fandom these days for a reason. if i didnt want immediate gratification i'd be writing about my OCs#who are also.... all crazy dykes. i don't have it in me to make a token man for a fandom to get attached to.#devin WAS a man until it became so clear that she is not. we need more desperately sick tired angry transfem all pronouns failwomen#it's a tough job out here for someone who's crazy about women but someone's gotta do it

Was it u posting abt how u couldnt get into gideon the ninth? If not PLEASE disregard but it didnt seem like my thing but i tried it bc people seem really into and i was literally still so disappointed 😢 its like if a percy jackson book could say fuck or smth but honestly worse i truly dont understand how ppl are getting all this out of it 😭😭😭😭
yes it's me 💜💜💜 ur not the only one like I've had other people say the same thing. I literally feel like it's so missold because I've seen people who actually read it explain that it's basically just a glorified murder mystery and most of the sci-fi/fantasy elements are basically poorly thought out gimmicks. I'm sure that it gets better as the series goes on and the author develops competence but like. you should be developing that BEFORE publishing your first book, not after 💀
it does feel like a conspiracy because people will claim it's some like super deep masterpiece with like religious significance but then you read it n it's glorified homestuck fanfiction referencing memes that have already aged like milk. I can't stand the quippy thing in particular, wasn't there that article abt whedon speak a while back pointing out the issues that 1.it gives all ur characters the same voice + sense of humour and 2. it's hard to take stakes seriously if the characters are clearly unbpthered enough by them to make quirky one liners constantly? I have like never read anything where quippy characters didn't immediately make me soooo aware of the hand of the author going "haha that's so funny, put it in" rather than considering if like. the character would actually say that in this situation-_-
i also like have an issue with my impression of the way the author approaches masc women, both within and without the books, but I don't have the energy to go there.
ultimately disappointing because I'm only 21 and it already feels like a book that im too old for? I like have no problem if you're like, I like that it's funny and zany and has a masc woman protag like. if i didn't find it straight up unreadable I would probably be a fan because when it comes to masc women I am willing to eat crumbs off the floor. but like, dont act like it's some great work of literature please I cant take it...... smart people will say INSANE things about it and then you look and it's CLEARLY written by a homestuck fanfic author and it makes me feel like i must be losing my mind
#ask#anon#also she literally wrote like. homestuck redacted redacted fanfiction#with roach patrol 😭😭😭#just feels worth saying#the religious stuff irks me because it feels very like 'ex mainstream protestant dropping bland biblical references w no real meaning'#anyway if ur a fellow masc enjoyer then I guess read she who became the sun#and idk. dm me n beta read my MS💀#watch yentl#read tipping the velvet#we have like 4 things but gtn doesn't deserve to be one of them

I rly don’t wanna imply like “just get over it” about insecurities with your skin and whatnot especially as someone who hasn’t struggled as much with my skin as others but when people say stuff like “well if you wear a full face every day because it makes you feel better about yourself that’s fine!!!” it does not sit right with me. it just doesn’t. when I very rarely wear foundation + concealer because I’m doing a makeup look that’s complicated, my skin always looks worse to me after because society has told me I’m supposed to look like that. and it’s better and easier for me now than it was in high school when I wore it a few times for performances or “because I felt like it”, and when I took it off at the end of the day I thought I was so ugly and realized I had to not do it every day because it would make me feel worse about myself (this was easy for me because I have always been lazy and would rather have gotten as much sleep as possible before school every day). anyways basically if you are going out with a full face every day that’s not in fact going to actually help you and will absolutely make you feel worse and worse about your natural face and if you feel like you cannot leave the house without foundation and concealer I am so sorry society failed you. you look fine the way you are I promise, you look like a human being and you don’t need to change that for anybody.
#genuinely am wondering when fucking stage makeup became the standard#like listen. I’m not against makeup it’s fun to put colors on your face but like. be ‘lazy’ about it#fuckin. do pink eyebrows and nothing else#put glitter on the inner corners of your eyes and call it good#bright red lipstick and bare skin.#it’s automatically a Look.#stay away from the concealer she hates you and wants you dead she can do nothing for you#unless you’re doing like. full on costume makeup there’s no point#anyways…………#there are of course gray areas like for instance transfems often feel the need to wear makeup for literal safety#which is like. awful and disgusting and horrible that that’s the world we live in#but like. mainstream discussion of makeup bothers me on so many levels#idk . also I’m turning off rbs bc I don’t want Discourse

why is no one talking about the fact that nex benedict is indigenous?
they are choctaw.
native women and two-spirits are at the highest risk of sexual assault and domestic violence of any group. natives as a whole are at the highest risk for suicide. natives are also tied with Black americans for risk of being killed, both by police and by others.
it's critical to note that more than 90% of violence done against natives is committed by non-natives. this is a colonial issue, it's a genocide issue, it's an anti-indigenous issue.
when it comes to indians, our intersectional identities are often erased in favor of more visible or mainstream marginalizations like sex and gender.
this same thing happened when ezra miller kidnapped an indigenous teen. it happened when a nurse assaulted a native coma patient and she became pregnant and gave birth in her hospital bed. our indigenous identity is barely mentioned, despite this being a multinational crisis.
please learn more about the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) movement here, here, and here
and please spread the word about this
don't let native people disappear in this conversation. nex's death is national news and they should be remembered for all that they are.

I am FULLY ONBOARD the Harris/Waltz train, tho before this i was leaning towards Mark Kelly (AZ is a swing state! He's an ASTRONAUT!) If you want or have time, no pressure, but any thoughts on what makes Waltz a better pick?
I like Mark Kelly too, and since he's married to Gabby Giffords (having run for public office after she got shot and could no longer do so) he would have been an amazing pick in terms of supporting the first female POTUS. But he is a less charismatic public speaker than Walz (for whatever that's worth, but politics is a mess of Aesthetics and Vibes that matter as much and/or more than actual facts) and more moderate/conservative. He's been a great senator and picking him would defuse some of the BORDER IMMIGRATION BLAH BLAH!!! scaremongering that Republicans love to run on, but it would also leave open the possibility of losing a special election and other dangers with the Democratic senate that we really need to minimize. So Walz is a better choice for that alone, but also:
He really has serious progressive credentials as governor, even if he was a fairly mainstream Democrat (who flipped a rural red House district in Minnesota that Democrats have not been able to win again after he left) during his 12 years in the House. This is an INCOMPLETE LIST of what he was able to do in two years with a one-seat Democratic majority in Minnesota:
A Climate Action Plan that included:
Investing in energy infrastructure
100% carbon-free electricity by 2040 goal
Transition off of fossil fuels and onto clean energy resources
Building more electric vehicle charging stations
Providing funding to help workers acquire new skills through apprenticeship programs in clean energy fields
Direct state funding for transit
Money for rail
Tax credit for e-bikes
Permitting form to fast-track clean energy projects
And that was in addition to:
Codified abortion access in Minnesota
Guaranteed paid sick time and paid family and medical leave
Funded replacing ALL LEAD PIPES IN THE STATE
Free school breakfasts and lunches for all
Made public college free
Stronger labor protections
Drivers’ Licenses for All
Voting Rights Act to reverse recent court rulings that make voting harder, including restored voting rights to convicted felons
Banning medical debt from credit bureaus
The "Taylor Swift Bill" requiring all ticket "junk fees" be shown up front
Banning most "junk fees"
No book bans
Protection for tipped workers
Banned non-competes
Legalized recreational cannabis
Gun control, including increased penalties for straw purchases of firearms, expanded background checks and enacted red-flag laws, passing gun safety measures that the GOP has thwarted for years
Made MN a Trans Refuge State, and required health plans to cover “medically necessary gender-affirming care.”
Pay increase for Uber and Lyft drivers
Elimination of the so-called “gay panic defense”
A ban on “doxxing” election workers
A prohibition on “swatting” elected officials
In March, during the height of the Gaza/uncommitted primary protests against Biden, Walz said that young people should be listened to and they had a right to be speaking up and the situation in Gaza was horrible and intolerable, without directly slamming Biden or getting involved in the issue in a way to draw negative headlines. Regardless of what you think about any of it, that is a very deft way to handle it and pairs well with Kamala's better responsiveness on the Gaza issue overall. That was a big part of the reason why Gen Z/younger voters were very excited about Walz despite him being an "old" (actually the same age as Kamala but he has joked that teaching high school for 20 years will do that to a guy) white guy. If half the battle in politics is making the right pick to excite your core voters and reach out to new ones, then Harris nailed it. As I have said in earlier posts, there was just too much energy with young voters FINALLY checking in when Harris became the candidate, to risk introducing a big ideological split with Shapiro.
Aside from that: the most insufferable Smart White-Bro Political Pundits (TM) are big mad about Walz, many Never Trumper Republicans thought they were entitled to a "moderate" in exchange for oh-so-generously lending us their vote against Trump and not run the risk that we might end up with someone *gasp* progressive, and the regular MAGA Republicans are hysterical, which means they're terrified. It's also incredibly hard to paint Literal Midwestern Stereotype Dad (football coach, social studies high school teacher, military veteran, etc) as THE EVIL END OF AMERICA in the way they desperately want to do, though the fact that they're trying shows that they've got literally nothing. The fact that Kamala picked Walz against the PREVAILING WISDOM!!! that she had to take Shapiro (for whatever reason that might have been) is also a good sign, because by far the most genuine and extensive enthusiasm that I have seen from Democratic voters, especially those feeling burned out or disillusioned or angry with specific policy choices of the current administration, was for Walz. Having everyone excited for the pick beforehand, effectively using the "weird" line, and rallying behind the guy, only for her to actually go for him, is inspiring. It makes people feel like they're being heard and the Democrats have decided to win by being progressive, and not just endlessly Catering To The (Imaginary) Middle as they have always been told to do (and often done). That alone is MASSIVE.
Walz is tremendously funny, personable, has Democrats from AOC to Joe Manchin praising it (again, shocking), was right out the gate supporting Kamala, has already been majorly successful on TV, was by far the most progressive-on-policy picks of the VP finalists, is incredibly, hilariously wholesome and small-town Midwestern (he's the JD Vance that they wish JD Vance was), and is already sending ActBlue gangbusters with donations again. And when you're getting this kind of response on the Cursed Bird Hellsite, just:
Just. I don't know what's happening either. But let's enjoy it, and then work hard, because we gotta fucking do this and for possibly the first time this entire year, I really think we might. Heck yeah.

In her paintings could be identified the acronym "JL", asually followed by a star, she was the first woman to be inserted in the Guild of St. Luke, the guild Haarlem's artists.
-Artemisia Gentileschi (Italian, 1593-1656)

In 1611, Artemisia got raped, and she had to Undergo a humiliating trial, just to marry so that she could "Restore one's reputation" , according to the morality of the time.
