(Again...REALLY sorry for the lateness of this post!!)

I'm a huge huge fan of fanart...often art was what used to draw me the quickest to a book or character and make me more eager to play it! It was also a great way - like fanfic but differently - to incorporate things you wouldn't find so easily in canon. Here are some of my favourite artists!!

@sazanes - She is not only an incredible artist - she is also a ball of enthusiasm and great talent!! We first met when she sent me Hayden-focused asks after finding out we were both Hayden stans 😄 Her art is absolutely gorgeous and packed with so much fine detail. I still remember being amazed by her while running my first Hayden Young Appreciation Week - not only did she make an art piece for every day...she also ensured that if the character was customisable, she did an art piece each for each face (she did this both for Hayden and Liam). And given that some of those faces have less representation even though they're among the best faces (esp bl!Haydens and bl!Liam) I truly, truly appreciate her commitment to representing them. My favourite art work of hers is this beautiful poster of all the Haydens in kimonos, this beautiful picture of kid!Sloane and Kim, Liam helping the Heir plant her tree, Hana with a teasing mile and her signature hot chocolate, and of course this recent one of Kiara experiencing intense secondhand embarrassment 😄

@cassiopeiacorvus - There's an incredible style, attitude and verve about her work. She's done a depiction of every MC she's created thus far and I find them amazing coz she draws them with a body diversity that you won't often find in canon. Some of my favourite artworks of hers include a drawing of Xanthe and the ACoR MC in their "sexy red outfits", a reworking of Kiara's Costume Gala outfit (which is, btw, FAR BETTER than anything PB came up with for her), Jax and Lily with the BB MC and Leah and LH MC being a "black power couple" as Cassi put it 🤗

@toyhenoctus - I absolutely love their cute and vibrant comics, with cheeky and vibrant characters. Whether it's the gun-toting Siobhan or Effie who wants to declare her love for Aurora Emery to the world, it's always a treat to read them!!

@ohmyblues - She was a recent find, and I absolutely loved her Hana drawings! The first one I saw of hers featured Hana by the Valtoria lake, during the lantern festival, and the use of colours was so unbelievable and Hana looked so enigmatic in the picture. But I think my absolute favourite so far was the one they made of Hana at the piano. The texturing of the silver dress was so detailed and sublime, and her expression of being lost in the music was blissful to see.

@shazrystyles - Shaz is an absolute treasure! I've always loved her work but got to meet her personally when a friend bought a commission from her for me as a gift. Her artwork is so soft and delicate and so fun and fresh at the same time. My absolute favourites include this compilation of Hayden Young sketches, this supercute sketch of Zig performing ballet, this amazing one of Liam as a fencer and here is Hana and her MC on their wedding day 🥹

@burnwoods - Their art and style is so beautiful and interesting, and honestly they depict the characters in such a gorgeous, realistic way. I love the watercolor, stepped-right-out-of-a-painting quality of their work. My favourite was one of the entire cast of TRR/H, a picture of Rafael and the OH MC hugging and looking like the giddy reunited lovers that they are, and this cute picture of the entire ITB crew!

@they-callme-ami - Just the fact that they do such incredible art of black characters brings me so much joy 🥰🥰🥰 Here's their awesome commission page! I'm new to their art so I'm really excited to reblog them and have more people see them!!

@ellezelindraws - I absolutely love their drawings of Hana Lee (personal favourite is the one of Hana in a pink cheongsam) and their lovely cartoons of Hana and the MC as a married couple (like this one of the MC dreaming Hana might be bald, Hana gazing admiringly at a sleeping MC, and goth!Hana). They've done some other incredible art of wlw in particular as well, like Sabina, Annabelle, Ava and Kamilah. I can't wait to see more of their art!!

@danniseyebrows - They make incredible art of a lot of characters but the ones I am most familiar with are her TRR MCs (she has one each for each LI!) My favourite of the lot is her Hana MC Valerie, and one of my most enduringly favourite works of theirs is a depiction of the MC reacting to the dress that Hana made for her (in Shanghai) in a way that truly acknowledges these women as being in love with each other 💗

1. Unofficial Choices App Buttons - I was curious what could a Choices App Button would look like if they feautred a book on the App buttons, so I made a version of my MCs and their LIs.

2. Throwback: ES LIs - So ES is my fave book and I miss it so much so I made some banners starring the LIs. This was supposed a submission for ES Week but I was not able to include it.

3. AME Season 10 - Posters of male and female contestants in AME that is inspired by rolling films.

4. Lasso of revealing Dirty Little Secrets - Ms. Harlenay just had a vacation in Themyscira and brought a Lasso of Truth which she gave to Naomi... and Ms. Supercop tried in on whipped MC.

5. Most Wanted: Dream Team - Just a random edit where Dave and Sam formed a police squad which includes crime-fighting Choices Cops from different books.

HLAW Day 6: Throwback

On this appreciation day I thought it would only be fitting that I posted the first ever Hana Lee fic I did, With A Little Help From My Friends. The story is in two parts, and while the first part is popular the second has one of my favourite lines of Hana's!

This is Part 1, where Hana and Liam bond over music. And this is Part 2, where they bond over the woman they both love.

1. What about this character inspired you to create this piece?

Halfway through my first serious playthrough of TRR1 (a little after the book had ended), I became very fascinated with Hana as a character and found her extremely relatable. I bought as many scenes as I could. Some of my Liam stan friends at the time confessed they didn't know or understand her that well, so I wrote this fanfic because I really wanted them to see what I saw 💕

Also it struck me that Hana had a goodbye moment with all of the main group in her finale scene...except Liam. So what was the thing they could both do that they could enjoy together?? Music, of course!

2. What was your process like?

My process for fic is usually very linear...I HAVE to know the opening before I can write anything. Which I did for this one too. I knew I was going to start the fic with a heartbroken Hana hammering away on the piano, alone 😭 and from there I was able to let the story take its course.

And because PB never showed us Hana's gift, I needed to write it in myself so I spent some amount of time researching places where you could get dizi flutes in China (by the time I wrote Part 2, the first few chapters of TRR2 had already been out).

3. What part of creating this piece brought you the most joy?

Part 1: DEFINATELY Hana and Liam jamming together! Most of the fic had a lot of sadness and tension, so I loved ending it on this bittersweet note.

Part 2: Both Hana and Liam's final lines (the one she says about confessing to Esther and the one he says about her bravery) before they return to the ballroom.

4. Are there differences between the way you make content for this character, and the way they are depicted in canon/fan content? If so, why?

Like a lot of my friends, I tend to have elaborate backstories for her coz many of us felt that was something she was robbed of in canon. We also like to put her in the center of some of our stories coz she is amazing as a character and deserves more love than she actually gets, and because unfortunately she sometimes tends to get erased in fan content too. So it's important for us to center her needs and perspective in fics about her.

5. Did you have a playlist to get you into the mood for creating? If so, what kind of songs?

A Lot of Queen 😄😄 I was (still am!) a huge Queen fan, hence the song I finally selected for Liam & Hana's jamming session.

Who are your favorite writers and artists in the fandom and why?

Just a heads up, anon, I’m terrible at the why part!

I don’t read fanfics much now but as far as my favorite writer in the fandom is concerned, I’ll say @angstymarshmallow - Just read the first few lines of any story of hers and you’ll get sucked in. When I was new in the Choices Tumblr fandom, I believe her fanfic “Dear Mom” was the very first fanfic I read and shared on my blog. She’s written quite a number of angst so you’ll get all sorts of emotional when reading her work. At times I was already dreading just by reading the title alone lmao. She said she’s not good at writing fluff but hey~~ she delivered!

I’d like to give a shout-out to @beccas-bangs and @erza-liao. I think they each shared only one or two stories, but their writings reminded of the type of fanfics I used to read a lot when I was in another fandom. I’d love to see more from them :)

Now moving on to favorite artists~

@miss-twombly - I just looove the cartoon-ish style of her work. She’s very consistent and I find all, I mean ALL of the fanart that she’s shared with the fandom really adorable. It seems like every time she shares a new fanart, I find it to be a lot cuter than the previous one she’s done!

@louquorice - Well, she mostly draws Kaitlyn when it comes to Choices so 🙃 I find her comic art style quite refreshing, and I like that she’d insert some storylines into her fanarts as well. She also draws non-Choices characters, her very own OCs, and even herself or something related to her. You should check out her art tag because it’s lit, I’m honestly amazed at her talent.

@the-light-of-stars - Her fanarts give off mysterious vibes and they just seem so… alive? I mean it was as if she was drawing based on real people/animals rather than fictional characters so it’s really fascinating to look at them. I love how detailed her drawings are.

I’d love to list some more but it’s 12.20 am here and I mean it when I said I’m terrible at the why part because it might get repetitive ^^” but I’d like to mention @raventear, @stephschoices, @shazrystyles, and @jakemckenzie as some of my favorites too 😊
