240604 ONEW Fanmeet Guess 2024 in Osaka Day I Recap

■ (Guess about Onew picture game: old pictures in Japan) He stayed in Japan for about a month last year, he told that he walked from Osaka to Kobe, hiked to Mt. Fuji* and stayed at an old man's -that he didn't know!- house. He also walked to Tokyo (?). Jinki said that he was training his stamina, and he also thanked everyone for waiting for him (source)

■ The other pictures were 1. selfie before the shinee concert (jinki: pretending to be cute) and 2. selfie with glasses from the marie claire photoshoot (jinki: heard you guys like these lately~~)

■ His Japanese was nearly perfect, and when he couldn't understand something, Zairo (guitarist) helped him out (source)

Someone (they're part of a choir band) asked how to reach high notes/harmonize beautifully like him and Jinki said that it's really hard for him too since he has a low tone, he asked them to sing to him and said that they had a beautiful voice tho then he asked for their fave song by him and they replied that it was too hard because they loved every song

Roman sat next to Heeseung as he was glued to his phone, watching random videos and ignoring her. Today’s filming felt a little off, Heeseung seemed to be forcing out his reactions and movements and it felt like something was wrong. During breaks, he would walk away and not even give her a glance. She doesn’t know why he was suddenly acting like this, since normally they easily messed around and would play games together even when the cameras weren’t rolling, but something was definitely off.

“Hey, Hee-” Roman began to say, just as Heeseung took out his earbuds and placed them in his ear. Another way of ignoring her.

She rolled her eyes and got up from her seat, moving away and nudging his leg in the process as she walked over him to walk into another room. 

Heeseung felt guilty, he knew he was being unreasonable. He knew he was being immature but he couldn’t help it. He didn’t like hearing Jake was hanging out with her, let alone texting her. As selfish as it sounds, he wanted to gatekeep her and keep him all to himself. He watched as she disappeared into their shared ‘bedroom’, and he silently began kicking himself. Great, now he upset her. He just needed to get through the rest of filming for today and then he can go clear his head. She didn’t deserve to be treated this way when she didn’t even do anything, and he knew it was his fault. 

FILMING: IN PROGRESS

“How did you learn how to garden?” Heeseung asked, the two of them were outside on the patio tending to their little garden.

“It just became sort of an outlet, a hobby. Key gardens a lot as well and he’s showed me a lot of things,” Roman said, as she helped Heeseung transfer some green onion stems to the soil for them to grow in the pot. 

“Ah, I always forget how close you are with them,” Heeseung said.

“SHINee were the first group to be really kind to us, they really took us under their wing and Jonghyun taught me even more stuff about composing. I owe a lot to him,” Roman said, a sad smile forming on her face as she refused to meet his eyes.

“You don’t have to talk about that,” Heeseung said.

“No, it’s okay. I’m comfortable enough to talk about him, I’ll always talk about him. He deserves to be talked about,” Roman said. “I’ll make sure his name is never forgotten.”

Heeseung looked at her face, and gave her a silent smile, he reached up and removed a strand of hair out of her face. The two of them made eye contact and he leaned over and grabbed her hand, squeezing it. The warmth she felt go up her arm was unexplainable. She didn’t know why she always felt jolts of electricity every time they touched, but she didn’t complain. She just hoped he felt it too.

“There, it looks like it’s going to rain, we should finish up here and then make some dinner,” Roman said, picking up the tools and cleaning up around. 

Heeseung followed suit, taking the things from her grasp and putting them away for her. Even when he wanted to be mad, things just came naturally for him. He wanted to be distant and not feel this way anymore, but he just couldn’t. It was like she was a magnet and he was drawn to her. 

“What should we make for dinner?” Heeseung asked. “I’ll follow your lead, I don’t want a remake of last time.”

Roman laughed, remembering how Heeseung tried making Kimchi Jeon and managed to start a small fire with the oil and paper towels. He really wasn’t the best cook. Lucky for him, Roman liked to cook and she especially loved to do it for people. He realized her love language was gift giving and acts of service. She always came with things to give him behind the scenes and he started a collection in his dorm of the many things she had gotten him. Thinking about it now, he felt even more guilty with how he had been treating her when the cameras were off.

“We still have some tteokbokki and chicken, we can fry the chicken and make wings?” She suggested. 

“Lead the way, sweetheart,” Heeeung said, saluting to her and she giggled at his antics. 

He was still very adorable, even when he was being mean.

“Good work, everybody!” Roman and the staff were saying their goodbyes to one another as she was removing her mic. 

She looked over and saw Heeseung was staring at her, before quickly turning away and pretending to mind his business. Usually he would come over and hug her goodbye, but this time he just got in his car without a glance, and she watched as he drove off without a word.

Just what on earth was his problem?

#3: a character that fandom has helped you appreciate

the first person that comes to mind is nagisa. in the series, he's portrayed as someone very cheeky, friendly and ambitious—he's always very spontaneous and quietly observant of everything, and i love that he doesn't think too deep about certain things, e.g., haru's quiet, seemingly non-emotional character (which he chalks down to haru being someone who is always "smiling inside"—such a cute, non-judgmental way to acknowledge that just because haru isn't as expressive as the others or doesn't smile often, it doesn't necessarily mean he isn't happy or doesn't care).

mischievous as he is, he's always well-intentioned (but whether or not his motives are misunderstood is a whole other box to unpack). i think i value people like nagisa in my real life, and i love seeing how the fandom portrays him in their work.

#7: your favorite tropes to read/write/draw

i love writing and reading works that come from a place of pain. it's not that i'm sadistic; it just feels more raw, relatable, validating and hopeful reading such content because all of us as people have gone through varying degrees of tough times and it's nice to know we're not alone in our suffering. solidarity in its many forms is something i will always appreciate, especially as someone who works in social services.

reading/writing about it and learning how everything is resolved through the art of storytelling (regardless of whether it has a sad, bittersweet or happy ending) helps me to reflect on my own life and that of others. it creates some sort of self-awareness that's important for my own personal growth, and it's a healthy outlet for me to express myself.

reading about your favourite characters going through problems/challenges similar to your own can be so, so empowering. as long as you tread carefully, i don't think it's unhealthy or bad to enjoy tropes revolving around angst, hurt/comfort, and other similar tropes.

#20: your very first fandom!

my first fandom wasn't even an anime-centered one—i'm no longer active in the fandom (there were some things that felt toxic and exhausting) but i used to avidly listen to 2nd gen k-pop! i was a blackjack (woooo 2ne1), vip (big bang), elf (super junior) and shawol (shinee!!!!!!!) i haven't actively been in any fandoms other than free! since like, 2018. too busy adulting, so right now, the free! fandom is my only place of solace.

I have a bookclub with my cousins and this is what we're currently reading. I just started it and I was pleasently surprised that it's easy to read. I'm intrigued :)

I'm not the biggest reader but when I manage to get into a book I devour them. But I am a more visual person, give me pictures and I'll understand it better.

Current Obsession:

So many, so so many. But since I moslty only talk about shows in here my current show obsession is My Personal Weatherman. I had very low expectations for this show. Very low. And with only one episode it has managed to haunt me in my sleep and everyday life. I cannot stop thinking about Segasaki and Yoh's relationship dynamic. AAAAAAAHJFADSLAJDKDFKADJSF

3. How old were you when you first got into Kpop?

Okay so it was in 2020 during Covid and I was 22. Sometimes I'm sad I didn't get into it sooner because I feel like I missed out on so muchhhh but then again now I get to watch hours upon hours of content to catch up and at least my faves are still active!

4. What song(s) took you a while to warm up to?

Love Phobia by Onew took me a while, I listened to it the first time and wasn't immediately sold somehow. But after hearing it more I think I somehow suddenly 'understood' the song? And now it's one of my favourites!

....And I think every Shawol experienced this but SHINee's Ring Ding Dong XD. At first I was like what the heck is this. But now I just love it. It's so iconic. I am genuinly unironically vibing to it these days. Just Jjongs voice in the beginning coming in unannounced with BABYYYYYY ... you know how it is LOL

16. Which concepts do you love?

Okay so I don't know if this refers to photoshoot concepts or songs but I honestly think it's the same for both. Usually I like the fierce/dark concepts more. For example, BTS Black Swan and Fake Love styling and SHINee Lucifer and Obsession song.

In black swan, them sprouting wings?! The lyrics of the song, the setting of the music video like woah. And in fake love especially the choreography and the outfits.

Also Onew had different concepts for his Circle album photoshoot and one of the concepts was 'Ocean' and these pictures, I just love them so much. Like woah, just look at him??

Thinking a little more about the concepts I love, I guess I like the emo songs and the emo concepts the most? hahahahha I mean I am part of the popunk/emo music to kpop pipeline so there we have it I guess LOL.

Also honorable mention goes out to whatever the fuck Key was up to in his Gasoline album concept because WOW I loved it. Some typa witch doctor stranger things type of stuff. He also combines it really well with a retro vibe which I LOVE. Anyways, this is the one I'm talking about:

Taeminnie - oh gosh, idk what I'd want to do, nothing special really. Just relax with him I guess, chat and eat a meal together. Ask him about his work and ideas for future projects. Play and cuddle with his cats. (Wouldn't object to drinking with him if he was up for it - especially while watching a horror movie. I don't enjoy horror movies but I'd want to see which one he'd pick out to watch with someone.) Aaaand if this day included watching him practice dancing or recording his music I wouldn't be opposed...

4. What is your favorite physical feature about 9?

Her smile! I mean, everything about her face lol. She's extremely beautiful to me.

5. What is your favorite part of 6's personality?

I don't know Seulgi's personality well, but I loved what she did with her first solo album, so I suppose I can say her execution with her art. She has a unique style (really my ideal for a female idol) that I hope we see more of!

6. If you were to tell 8 anything you wanted, what would you tell them?

Again, I don't know this idol's personality well either, but if I could tell Chaewon something I would say she's doing amazing, to eat well, rest well, and take time to have fun! Because honestly every idol is overworked and deserves more breaks.

7. Between 1 and 2, whose closet would you raid?

Jjong's! I love his style the most, I just think he is so cool.

8. What is a style that you want to see 3 try?

Hmm, I'm not fashion savvy like Key, but I do miss the high fashion I've seen him wear at the airport in the past (like 2015-2017? ish? my babywol brain can't give you more specifics). I can't say a specific style, but I guess I like the more flashy clothes. Like this for example. Or this outfit from 151130 (I spent an embarrassingly long time looking for this lol)

Also multi-colored hair! Like he had during Odd era or RDD era. IDK how many times that RDD hair changed colors but I loved them all.

9. Between 5 and 4, who are you closer to in height?

Oh definitely Onew. (I'm 5'1", or 154 cm)

10. Between 10 and 9, whose music do you like the best?

I don't really have a preference, it depends on my mood for the day. I have been listening to more NCT lately, but I like both of these groups' music for my workouts especially (groups like NCT, Dreamcatcher, EXO, KARD, and of course SHINee I love playing for my workouts).

Juliette Chapter 39 Cover

It's the night before Jonghyun's long-awaited return from Hiatus and he is filled with anxiety. He's afraid that the fans have forgotten him, or worse - thinks that SHINee is better of without him. Lucky, he has five amazing groups members to help cheer him up. Join the SHINee members as they distract Jonghyun from his worries and celebrate their 5th year anniversary with some never-before-told stories from their rookie years.

Jonghyun isn't the only one in dire need of distracting as Hana comes face to face with her new biggest fear: the beach. SHINee is in Okinawa to film the music video for Boys Meet U, the title track of their next Japanese album, and Hana is feeling on edge, fearing being triggered by the familiar setting. However, unlike with Jonghyun, the SHINee boys don't seem to realize that being on a beach is a problem for Hana and she quickly grows resentful and envious of their abilities to have fun and enjoy the beach setting. Will Hana be able to keep herself from having a flashback, and will her group members ever take notice that Hana is secretly suffering?

Taemin has gone away with the rest of SHINee to prepare for their next Japanese Comeback and the start of their SHINee World 2013 concert tour. It's hard being away from Naeun for so long but We Got Married decides to help him out by taking him on an impromptu shopping trip to buy Naeun a gift. It's the day before SHINee's concert in Osaka. Will going out in public with so many Shawols lerking around be safe for Taemin?

During his shopping trip, among many things, Taemin buys Naeun a new rosary bracelet to replace the one she lost. He hopes to give it to her before Apink's Comeback Stage for their newest release, NoNoNo, but being stuck in Japan, that's easier said than done. It's Kai and EXO to the rescue as the boy group helps Taemin surprise Naeun and Apink. Now that she has the rosary bracelet, will Naeun wear it on stage with her? Will Taemin have the time to watch the Live Broadcast or will SHINee's concert get in the way?

What's this? Key is going on a date with a girl?! After mistakenly asking Taemin to set him up on a blind date with one of the Apink members on camera, Key finds himself paired with Eunji on a blind turned double date with Taemin and Naeun. Key has no problem with pretending to like Eunji for the sake of the show, but with Eunji be able to tell that the affections Key shows her are all fake? Lying is the name of the game as Key must work hard to convince the world that he's straight while also keeping Eunji from falling in love with him. Will someone as horrible of a liar as Key be able to do so effectively, and will Taemin be of any help during all of this?
