The Measure of Murder ( al Coda ) || @shaunavayne .

Verse One.

Violence breaks the surface, violence bubbles forward, and violence is promised. Shauna has always tormented her, keeping a cool face as her black heart was plain to see, and Sona had always let her. Tried to be kind. Tried to be understanding. Tried to be patient.

But there are some lines you don’t cross.

Sona is at the end of the alley, arms crossed and staring down Shauna as she turns - aware of the tail. Aware she is the mark, the hunted. Even the fraction of a smile has left her as she watches Shauna step forward with crossbow bolts and fangs bared. Intent to kill?

Sona blinks once and offers her own intent to kill.

It’s heavy, nauseating, and literal. The fear and pressure is crystalline and pure, it is enough to make a lesser mind hallucinate that Sona is inches away, knife at one’s throat. It is enough to make the joints lock up, to make fear and heartbeats race, and it is unforgiving. Her neck will be snapped, her head twisted to the side, a knife to the jugular-!

But it’s only an illusion. Only an illusion, and Shauna is not a ‘lesser mind’.

Verse Two.

And after the declaration of war has come with flag thrust into the earth, so the heavens shall part and the light shall clear away the darkness.

The alley floods with moonlight as Sona steps forward, sword in hand. The first verse is cleared, and so they begin again. And so comes the assault, bolts and blades flashing back and forth. Sona is upon her mercilessly, but the match is even. Back and forth, again and again - metal slices through the air.

The pressure in the air remains, the intent to kill, and it is enough to make anyone think that yes, this witch must die. Too dangerous, she’s too dangerous, but the fight is even and the hunter has already broken through the illusion. Her head is screaming, her focus is tested, but if Shauna can-

Verse Three.

Begin again, jump to the end. Da Capo al Coda.

Sona is floating, concealed, above Shauna as the woman is caught three layers deep. Let her think she has beaten Sona’s illusions. Let her think she has a chance. Put her into a desperate situation as all her focus is upon winning... As Sona considers other questions. What is a concussion but an impact that rattles the brain? What volume does it take to rupture the eardrums? When hearing goes, how much of your sense of balance is lost? What is the resonance of the human form? It takes her less than a few seconds to answer, emperically. No, she has been answering for several moments already.

Sona’s hand extends as Shauna stands still in the alley beneath her as Shauna’s head is blended into a slush. Silently, invisibly, until the damage to the cortex becomes overwhelming. Human bodies are all the same inside and the damage is never known until it’s far too late. Does Shauna see the truth, does she realize what’s happening, as the internal bleeding becomes too much and she expires?

Sona doesn’t care.

In another moment, there is nothing left of Shauna Vayne. The. End.

It took Evelynn a second or two before her eyes finally widened in excitement.

The issue wasn’t truly the other’s face nor her bold attitude, it was the fact that nothing about her seemed to ring a bell in the demon’s head.Nothing except that pent-up angst that could be detected from miles away. But of course! The demacian kid whose family tasted like the finest of meals. 

With a patronizing tone, words fell out of the nightmarish vision’s mouth. 

“ Understandable.You know what? Before making serious decisions; try asking your parents first, Baby-girl. “

The newspaper makes contact with the flickering shade of pink upon the demon’s crown, a seemingly perfect target for such games. The roll crumples and rips as a spike emerges from the spot and impales the paper.

noxus is canonically one of the reasons demacia remains afraid of magic. due to noxus’ continued aggression against demacia and the weaponisation of magic against them, magic continues to be a ever present fear that the demacian army needs to combat. for instance the mentioned ‘arcane fist’ (one of the greatest magical mights noxus has ever created) had the demacian army cowering in fear and just waiting to die. that raw fear created by noxus’ use of magic threads through their army and then into the greater populace. it is also known that ex-soldiers who have seen horrors done with magic will turn to joining the mageseeker order out of a continued desire to protect their people from those magical threats because of what they saw on the field of combat.

What an exceptional struggle. Was that ‘I’m bad at words’ or ‘I’m bad at lying and this lie is the easiest to vomit out’? The musician dips her head graciously, keeping a careful eye on Lady Shauna as she bites into her toast at the local cafe. She takes one hand and makes a little signed motion - Thank you.
