Heyyy, I don't have a number for the spotify wrapped, but I do want to ask something. I've been slowly getting into steam powered giraffe, and i saw you had some of their songs in your list. Could you list some of your favourites of theirs? I know next to nothing about them, and I don't really know where to start. Feel free to recommend as much as you like, I'd really appreciate it!

Oh my god I love this QUESTION!!! It's been so long since I got an SPG ask!!!

Honestly, when I started getting into them I genuinely just listened to their whole discography in chronological order while I was doing homework or whatever and that was a really great introduction, because you get to see how their sound and aesthetic evolved over time and that's really cool! I also recommend listening to their albums in order at least once because for a bunch of them, there's a distinct theme or ongoing bits and bobs and skits that flow into each other (Album 1 and VQ most noticeably, 2c Show and MKIII less so).

Otherwise, my two favorite albums are Album 1 (either version is really fun to me) and 1896, which bookend nicely as of now. I like Album 1 a lot because it's just very. . . themed? It's one of their most stylistic albums and there's a lot of really solid "beginner SPG fan" songs in there that are pretty classic. 1896 will also always be one of my favorites because I'm just enamored with Zer0's voice and the influence he brings to the band and I just think it's a very cohesive and nice-sounding album overall.

I would not, however, recommend starting off with Vice Quadrant 1 and 2 until you get a grasp on SPG and their whole. . . thing. There are bangers in there for SURE, almost all of them criminally underrated, but it's also a space opera performed by three vocalists and as such is very hard to follow at times.

For specific songs that make me go CRAZYYY that are also pretty beginner-friendly I'll limit myself to a few from each album because I'm taking you seriously when you say to recommend as much as I like:

Less a fact and more an opinion-

What are your predictions for The Seventh? What do you think Peter A. Walter VI's mas means?

I genuinely do not know what to expect from this album. I don't have any predictions, per se. Of course, I do have things I'd like to see/hear.

I've been holding many rituals and making plenty of sacrifices in the hopes that we'll receive some more VQ content, but only time will tell on that (and most other) fronts. Most of SPG's music is based on past events, people and things that have already been and gone to rust. It's hard to say what it will be like writing music about something/one that is still "alive" and so intregal to their canon. Although, I do hope we'll get some skitty bits involving Peter VI himself.

As far as his mask is concerned, all we know is that he wears it as a result of a terrible lab accident (must be something in the Walter genes) that left his face less than pretty. Why is it a keyhole? Why is it a shoddy piece of poorly carved wood and not some incredibly advanced piece of wearable tech? I'unno.

As far as the actual sound of the music? I'm... intrigued. Personally, I feel the last two albums have been so hit and miss. I think I like and actively listen to about nine songs collectively from both of them. And whilst I am a HUGE fan of the deep basslines and vocals we've been getting from Zer0, I'm afraid to say Shattered Stars is the only song from him that I care for so far.

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR SPG'S 1896 ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey everyone! since this is my first time being around for an SPG release, i figured i'd do a review of it! i'll go song by song, and rate the regular versions and the accoustic versions separately! i'll also rank art.

1) COVER ART

Bunny and Gabi really blew this one out of the park! I love the 80's neon theme that the band went with, it feels nolstalgic and vibe-y! SCORE: 15/10

2) BAD DAYS ON THE HORIZON

ART: It's super unique, and i love the color scheme! SCORE: 10/10

REGULAR: the backing vocals from Penyaks and Friends™️ sounded really good! my only issue is that david sounded like he was straining really hard on some of those high notes, and he does NOT need to be destroying his chords. other than that, we love a good cowboy love ballad. SCORE: 9/10

ACCOUSTIC: classic country song. this is the only country music I will accept ever (except for Dolly Parton). SCORE: 10/10

TOTAL SCORE: 29/10

3) EAT YOUR HEART

ART: ughhhh i love pastel gore SCORE: 13/10

REGULAR: this song is definitely in my top 5, it's so boppy and i'm a sucker for songs that are upbeat yet depressing (see: i'll rust with you). also bunny is vvv talented and her vocals on this are super pretty. SCORE: 13/10

ACCOUSTIC: it's still good, bunny's vocals and the harmonies are kickass, but it's waaay too slow. SCORE: 8/10

TOTAL SCORE: 34/10

4) HOT ON THE TRAIL

ART: edgy spine edgy sPINE EDGY SPINE SCORE: 10/10

REGULAR: this is (for me) my 2nd favorite DMB song on this album, you can feel the raw emotion emitting from his vocals (even more so through the music video). unlike bdoth, he sounds less strainy on this one. SCORE: 10/10

ACCOUSTIC: heavenly. gorgeous. backing vocals are so pretty. omfg. SCORE: 13/10

TOTAL SCORE: 32/10

5) INTERTWINED

ART: absolutely beautiful, i love that it's canon that zer0 also has heterochromia like rabbit. also i wanna learn more about the little cat dude at the bottom, gimme the deetz. SCORE 10/10

REGULAR: gorgeous. stunning. incredible. flawless harmonies. SCORE: 13/10

ACCOUSTIC: gorgeous. flawless. stunning. incredible. well blended. a piece of artwork. SCORE: 15/10

6) LATUM ALTERUM (YA YA YA)

ART: hey did you guys know i love the 70s cartoon and music aesthetic? SCORE: 15/10

REGULAR: why is wa-wa guitar so appealing? also harmonies are stellar and drum-o is my babie. SCORE: 15/10

ACCOUSTIC: is at the same level as the original, but i miss my wa-wa guitars. SCORE: 13/10
