Well, another month in quarantine means another month of heavy reading! As of right now I’m 3 or 4 books ahead of schedule for my reading goal of 50 books in 2020. There’s a lot of things most of us would rather be doing than being cooped up in our homes, but it’s certainly been a good opportunity for all of you readers out there! April’s haul included Aldous Huxley’s classic dystopian novel based on a World State with an intelligence based social hierarchy from assembly line production of humans and pre-determined conditioning. Book #8 in Bernard Cornwall’s Sharpe series where Captain Richard Sharpe captures a French Imperial Eagle at the Battle of Talavera. Plato’s Republic records the dialogue of Socrates and other prominent Athenians discussing the nature of Justice, Truth, and the construction of the “perfect” republic. Also I reread Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life, and finished off Farley Mowat’s final book in his trilogy about his experiences in the Second World War. This book was the collection of letters He and his Father (a WW1 vet from the same Regiment) back and forth to each other over the duration of the conflict. I’m hoping that next months list will be slightly smaller than it has been the past two months. If so it will likely be because restrictions have eased and I’ll be enjoying the Spring time being back at work and getting reacquainted with my social life. Until then, we all just have to be patient, stay busy, enjoy the down time, and understand all of this is for the greater good. We’re all in this together, and this too will come to pass :) #bookstagram #AprilReads #quarantinereads # AldousHuxley #BraveNewWorld #BernardCornwall #SharpesEagle #PlatosRepublic #Philosophy @jordan.b.peterson #12RulesForLife #FarleyMowat #MyFathersSon (at Kentville, Nova Scotia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_qDjDxnFN74dqhwIYIQdZSmYuDDoR0csjFFtQ0/?igshid=15afp96dey6us
