Shao Kahn had never heard of Earthrealm holidays. He never really cared about other realms, only caring for power and the joy he got from it. He wanted to rule over everything. That all changed when he met you, and you refused to go with him. You wanted him to give up his concubines and make a few changes. He had never met someone who acted like that. There was something about you, though, that made him want to change. He followed along with you. In public, he kept his same behavior up. He didn't want to be seen as weak. He didn't want others to think they could easily take the throne from him. He wasn't going to be taken down after all of the hard work that he had done to achieve what he had now.

You celebrated your holidays, and Shao Kahn sat back, watching how and what you did. He was happy to see how happy you were, and he enjoyed seeing how excited you were telling him about it. He only vaguely understood the holidays that you told him about. He was still learning and trying his best to follow along. You hung the mistletoe up and waited for Shao Kahn to come along. You grew tired of waiting for him. You weren't sure where he was or when he would be coming back. You only knew you didn't want to be standing there if someone else showed up. It wouldn't matter, as no one else really knew or cared about your beloved holiday. However, you didn't want to run the risk. There was also the fact that no one wanted to piss off the Emperor. No one would dare mess with you for fear of what Shao Kahn might do. You made your way through the castle, trying your best to find Shao Kahn. You couldn't remember what he said he was doing or where he was going. You were going to find him and follow him to see where he went. It seemed like it could be an easier task.

You made sure to keep your footsteps quiet as you walked around the castle. You didn't want him to see or hear you. Although you wouldn't be surprised if someone had already said something to Shao Kahn, you found him just as he was walking out of the meeting room. You quickly hid behind the wall. Your heart was racing, and you were sure that he could hear it. You breathed in slowly and out, trying to steady your breathing and calm your racing heart. You didn't want him to know you were here. He went about his day, oblivious to your presence. You waited before walking after him. He didn't stop when he passed through the archway that held the mistletoe.

“Shao Kahn.” You called.

He stopped and turned around. He was standing directly under the mistletoe.

“Yes?”

You smiled as you made your way to him. He waited without saying a word. You wrapped your arms around him, and he picked you up off the ground. You placed a kiss on his lips, which he returned. He had no objections and waited for you to answer the question he had asked previously.

“You're standing under the mistletoe.”

He looked up and smiled before looking back at you and giving you a kiss.

I have a question: what can you say about a reader in the Mortal Kombat world (yandere) who has absolutely no emotional intelligence (like me)? Which yandere would be the scariest for such a reader, and which ones are the softest?

I don't mean that the reader will be cruel or heartless, but he is simply not in tune with emotions and cannot understand what others are feeling. As someone who suffers from this, I can say that I often don't notice how someone falls in love with me, and sometimes this leads to awkwardness

P. S. Who is your favorite fighter, if it's not a secret?

A/N: aww thank you for requestinggg. This is so camp. I struggle with empathy and similar things too. I went a little more broad with it. Alsooolo between mk11 and Mk1 there’s a big personality jump with a lot of characters so my answer is different depending on the game. Hopefully I did this request some justice.

(P.S. Kung Lao is my 1 fave and then Johnny. For female characters it’s Mileena and then scarlett. I like them crazy lol.)

While you maybe aren’t intentionally trying to discard them or hurt their feelings, it doesn’t seem like it at first. Why are you so blank? How can you just shrug off a confession like that? Do you hate them?

Once they get to know you better by studying and observing your habits, they realize that this is simply the way you are. They are compassionate enough where they don’t really let it bother them anymore.

They have not only a legitimate love for you (under their deranged behaviors), but a lot of emotional intelligence. At their core, they have a bit more maturity on things like this compared to their counterparts. Especially Fujin and Kotal Khan, they’ve been here for ages and have dealt with many different personalities before. You’re not really the first person who has been emotionally shut off like this. Besides, it’s not like you’re showing someone else more love or attention than them so..whatevs

(If you do discard them for another person tho, they will raise hell about it and retract their compassion.)

They will be more direct and intentional about what they want and their feelings so it's not so confusing for you. I can also imagine them guiding and helping you understand them more by maybe taking a different approach towards empathy? Emotional intelligence can be improved and I think they’d be rather good at this. You might not be fully there on everything (depending on where this is stemming from) but you’d have a better grasp at least.

I will say though that at times they might get sad when you don’t initiate affection or respond emotionally how they’d ideally picture it. Especially if there’s absolutely no improvement after a while, they’d get manipulative. They’d make you believe you feel something that you actually can’t. Also might get a bit frustrated by your impulsivity, outbursts and isolation.

All of these men have a massive ego that needs to be stroked and inflated by you. They want praise, love and affection. They want 100% of you. Yes, that includes emotionally.

They really don’t care what the reason is for why you are ignoring their advances, you will reciprocate. Their demands will be met and you are in love with them. Fake it good!

I hope you’re a quick learner because you have to pick up on their cues. You should know exactly what they need and when they need it. Your words should be ever so carefully chosen and your actions should have much enthusiasm.

There is no room for your mistakes and accidentally offending them, you will be punished for it. Mood swings and impulsively can result in reactive behaviors on their end.

Don’t make any of your interactions with them awkward in front of others. It isn’t funny to embarrass your “lover” like this.

No. you can’t be self centered. They are the center of your life. No. You cannot hold grudges against them. You should always forgive their actions. Aaaaand no. You really cannot ignore/not listen to them. How dare you.

Wait…it almost sounds like they are just as emotionally immature. Nahhh. They’re worse.

Yeah there’s no room for your Low EL, they need you to be a stable sounding board or else this relationship is going to be far more toxic than anything you’ve ever seen.

They’re completely far gone, no amount of explanation can save you. They will use any means necessary to get something out of you that isn’t even there in the first place. You are going to be everything they imagined you to be and more.

Conflicting feelings

Ngl kinda wanted to put Mk11 Johnny up top because I just am stuck on the fact that MK1 Johnny is a far worse Yandere. Like MK1 Johnny is older, mellowed out and is very mature at this point…but then I remembered his younger self. His mk11 younger version would be far more menacing than MK1. Mk11 Johnny Cage’s younger self would come out of him during his obsession. He can’t help but be an absolute asshat and forget all about his growth when it comes to you. Once a playboy always a playboy.

Kinda wanted MK1 King Lao in the top category aswell but…do I have to further explain. He’s definitely not as cocky and arrogant as his MK11 counterpart but he’s young, immature and impulsive. I don’t think he’d understand your low EL. It would drive him insane thinking that his darling isn’t reciprocating. He’d become rather aggressive and an egotistical monsterrrr in the process.

Kotal Khan really got me too because like he’s absolutely a lover boy but his heart isn’t as warm as it used to be.😭😭 debated putting him in the danger zone because there is so much potential for him to be cray cray but rewatching him and Jade interacting with each other made me choose the softer route. I think once he realizes you are just emotionally immature he’s just unphased by you. Like I can’t see him being that upset by his darling or something like that?? He’d be patient and understanding. He might’ve once been just like you but with time and age, he changed. So can you. Maybe I’m just being too generous?

Dark Raiden. I mean Raiden himself isn’t very intelligent when it comes to emotions. He’s goal and logically focused so I think he’d understand you. BUT what made me change my opinion was that dark! Raiden is completely corrupted and so is his way of thinking. He’s twisted and probably can’t really register your low EL. I think he’d perceive it as you being purposefully defiant towards him.

Mk1 Kuai Liang. People make him super soft and cuddly but Idk I feel like if I’m putting Bi-Han in the danger zone that it makes sense for his brother to be. They grew up in the same environment and Kuai is shown having similar or even worse traits to him. I don’t think he’s a saint. Smoke stands out more to me as someone who’d be softer. His voice lines and personality reflects that.

Reiko

Reiko found himself entrusted with the responsibility of recruiting and training fresh soldiers for General Shao's army. He leaned over a table, his gaze fixed on the intricate details of a war map, his thoughts immersed in the strategic plans outlined by Shao. As he pondered the battlefield scenarios, an unexpected interruption jolted him out of his reverie.

A swift swat to his shin compelled Reiko to glance downward, where he discovered a medium-sized, deep brown feline. At first, he tried to dismiss your presence, returning his attention to the map before him. However, another firm swat to his leg demanded his acknowledgment. Frustration welled up, and he knelt down to your level, meeting your gaze with squinted eyes.

He observed as you pounced and pawed at his foot with remarkable tenacity. Despite his initial annoyance, Reiko couldn't help but feel a hint of amusement. "You possess quite the warrior spirit," he remarked, his smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. Reaching out a hand, he gave you a few gentle pats on the head before lifting you up and placing you on the map table.

A brief, silent standoff ensued between you and the silver eyed man, both curious about each other's next move. After a contemplative moment, Reiko moved closer to you, examining your small form with interest. "Perhaps you'll prove useful in keeping the soldiers in check," he mused. His attention then shifted to a small collar adorned with a metal piece that bore the inscription 'General.' "A true warrior," he noted, offering a salute to you with a smile.

General Shao

"Is it just me, or is Earthrealm's champion scrawnier than usual?" Shao taunts with a sly grin, leaning his massive form down toward a large, fluffy, grey spotted tabby cat. You can't help but let out a disapproving hiss at such an insult, earning a deep, gravelly chuckle from Shao. He straightens up and looms over you, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Awfully intimidating," he begins, "the fiercest Earthrealm warrior I've seen in this lifetime."

Confident, you puff your chest out, letting out a bold meow before casually beginning to clean your paw, seemingly unfazed by his sheer size. The smirk never leaves Shao's face as he bends down once more, gently patting your head before lifting you up and placing you on his broad shoulders. You paw at his distinctive horns curiously, another low chuckle vibrating his chest as he turns his head to look up at you.

A small name tag catches his eye, and upon closer examination, it reads 'Reiko.' Recognition flashes across his face, and a booming laughter escapes his lips. "A challenge to my second in command!" he declares, reaching a hand up to scratch your chin with surprising gentleness. He begins his return to the barracks, a new found soldier resting upon his shoulders.

Havik

You sat there, a silent observer, in the dimly lit room. The scarred man stood with his back to you, engaged in a conversation with a guy named 'Darrius,' from what you could gather. They seemed oblivious to your presence as you playfully wrestled with a stray red ribbon you'd found earlier. As Darrius exited the room, casting a curious side-eye your way, Havik finally turned to face you, revealing his disfigured appearance. He tilted his head slightly, clearly baffled by the sight of a rogue black feline.

You couldn't resist the urge to pause your ribbon conquest, looking up at Havik with a mirrored head tilt. The two of you locked eyes for a moment, and you showed no signs of fear. Havik let out a sinister chuckle and decided to approach you, crouching down to your level and extending a finger toward you, curiosity dancing in his eyes. At first, you sniffed it inquisitively, but then you suddenly pounced, sinking your teeth into his finger with all the feline ferocity you could muster.

He laughed at the pain, clearly entertained by your aggressive playstyle. Havik slowly pulled his finger from your grip, even going so far as to rip it from the joint completely severing it from his hand, gauging your feline reaction as he did so, and wiggling it in front of your face. Your pupils dilated, poised to strike, and he tossed the digit across the room. With a swift leap, you chased it down, landing on it fiercely before gnawing and licking your newfound prey.

Havik chuckled, thoroughly amused by your antics, and he approached once more, gently scratching your chin in appreciation of your hunting prowess. "Good show, little hunter," he rasped, his gaze drawn to a small nametag on your collar. 'Chaos,' it read, which brought a soft laughter from Havik. "Suits you well, Chaos," he mused, a trace of admiration in his voice as he nodded in agreement with his own assessment.

Quan Chi

Quan Chi stood there, engrossed in the pages of an ancient tome, his unblinking eyes scanning each word with unwavering focus. Every page seemed to hold the key to some profound knowledge, and he devoured the text as though his very life depended on it. Eventually, he settled at his desk, positioned by a window that offered a breathtaking view of the land beyond.

His face remained stoic, lost in thought as he stared out into the horizon. In the midst of his silent contemplation, a soft meow pierced the stillness, and his view of the outside world was unexpectedly obscured by a curtain of long Siamese fur. Initially startled by the sudden interruption, Quan Chi soon realized that this intrusion was a welcome one.

There you were, perched right in his line of sight on the desk, your head tilted curiously as you offered a gentle meow. His expression remained unchanged, but his actions spoke volumes. He reached out and pulled you into a warm embrace, your soft fur serving as a soothing balm for his troubled mind. He closed his eyes and caressed your fur with fluid, gentle motions, releasing a soft sigh as the weight of his worries seemed to dissipate with every stroke.

You purred contentedly in his arms, your presence providing a comforting warmth to his tense mental battle. "Necro," he said, his voice tinged with gratitude, "a welcome solace in my prophetic storm." These words carried the unspoken acknowledgment of how you, in your own feline way, had brought him back to the present and eased his burdens.

Shao Kahn x Earthrealm Child Reader: Friendship?

Warning: Maybe OOC Shao? Plot never plots when it's me writing ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Winds grow intense as the giant green ring of a portal forms for the tyrant. He's grown too impatient to wait another day to capture Earthrealm, he'd do it himself if he really has to. No one can stop him or his rapid ambition.

Darkly chuckling, he walks through the portal, each step he takes heavy enough to make weak foes tremble before him. "Earthrealm, bow to your new emperor!" Shao Kahn calls through the portal to his audience. "Prepare! As I, Shao Kahn, will conquer you all!" He triumphantly raises his hammer, ready for chaos, but when he fully enters enemy territory, something seemed off.

No one was around, making him look rather awkward that he was yelling to himself. The portal closes behind him and he views his surroundings: nothing but dead trees and chilly air. Shao was more expecting of a large city, one similar to when the realms merge before. The tyrant growls at the inconvenience.

A small clap was heard somewhere from above. "That was cool!" Shao became alerted at the voice, looking up to see a small human sitting on one of the leafless trees, resting on a branch.

"You there!" He points his hammer up at you. "Tell me where I am!"

Looking to the side awkwardly and back at him you answered. "The woods...?" You reply nonchalantly with vagueness. How does someone that can summon portals not know where exactly they're teleporting to?

Shao Kahn growls under his breath. "Where's the Sky Temple?"

"I don't know. This town is small and boring." You complain.

Seeing that you're no help, he turns away from you and starts walking off, figuring out where his destination is to perhaps bash the head in of a certain demigod. As for you, you tilt your head before quickly, and carefully, climbing down the tree and running up with him. "Where are we going?"

Shao stopped and look down at you. By the Gods, you were so small compared to him. "We?" He copied your word. You nodded. "I don't need some soft Earthrealm child to follow me on my mission! Besides, you should be fearing me!"

Yet, you remain unfazed as he was yelling down at you, and he looks as if he'd crush you without a second thought. "Well, I don't! I won't misbehave, I promise!" You beg. The town was so boring and there was so much to explore, you wanted to go on his journey.

"Don't you have a bedtime? Begone! I've no time for babysitting. Return to your parents!" Again, you reject his demand. "They have other children they're more worried about! Besides, starting right now, you're my new friend! And I command you to bring me with you!" You playfully command.

The giant man doesn't take you serious, and he has better things to do than lose it with some... seven year old, however long you been brought to existence. "If you perish, it's on you." He continues walking, you following up behind him.

Shao Kahn returns to Outworld, to his palace, sighing. Even a big, strong brute like him needs his rest. He may not have conquered Earthrealm like he intended to, but there's progress. And he's fine with that.

The portal closes behind him and he goes back to bossing around his servants, demanding them to do this and that, patronizing them because he can. Now he's thinking about going to seek one of his concubines until something odd pops him out his mind.

"Let go! Y-You ugly jerks!" That voice sounds familiar. He swiftly goes around the corner to examine the fuss, and for the first time ever, his heart drops.

It was you. And you were squirming in the clutches of two Tarkatans. Shao mentally face palms himself, knowing your naivety would definitely get you into a situation like this. He knows he shouldn't care and just let the Tarkatans eat the stupid Earthrealm youngling, but he just can't.

"Stop! Release her!" He stomps forward and demands. The Tarkatans do lower you, but not release you as they looked at their emperor, confused. You were glad he steps in, still trying to get away from the scary looking figures.

"I said release her!" He repeats harshly.

One speaks up. You couldn't understand the words it was saying. Hell, how could it even speak a clear word with that mouth?

"I don't care if she's from Earthrealm! You'll dirty my floor with her insides!" How does he know what they're saying?

"I didn't ask you to take her outside! If you don't unhand her from your hideous hands, I'll cut them off and make them your last meal!"

The two monsters exchanged glances before dropping you and walking off. You got to calm yourself and breathe now.

"Y/n!" Shao says, picking you up to your, checking for any cuts, gladly there aren't any. "What are you doing here?"

"I snuck through the portal behind you." You shivered, yet giving him a thumbs up. "I forgot to give you something I made while we traveled together." You pull out a small, poorly made bracelet, consistent of yellow, red, white, and black, tiny rubber bands.

He holds out a giant, clawed hand so you could drop the item onto his palm. You could tell he was raising an eyebrow under that helmet. "It's a friendship bracelet. I know it's not fancy, made of pretty gems like an emperor should have, which is why I would understand if you like... put it somewhere and never see it again, but," You say that last part with a certain tone, but continue on.

"I just want you to have it since you're my only friend. And I like you." You tell him with a smile.

He dangles your gift from his nails, looking at it softly. You're right, it's not expensive, but he will treasure it. Clutching it in his hand and looking back down at you. "Treason is a crime, Y/n." He warns you half heartedly. "But thanks, little one, you were always a kind, oddly interesting human."

Offering a giant hand, he summons a portal. "I shall accompany you home. Outworld isn't a place for you, unfortunately." You understand he meant well with that, putting your small hand in his larger one, which he very gently takes and walks with you through the portal.

Maybe if he rules Earthrealm, you could explore more of the world with your friend. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ This one is meh, I wanted to write smth that gives Vanellope and Wreck-it Ralph

so I hate him. Definitely hate him. Very much. But he's also kinda attractive??? Like it makes me so mad.

He the type of man to either have an arranged marriage or not marry at all, unless you're evil as hell I guess. He's very large, which gives him SOME points, but for me he makes me SO FREAKING MAD ARG.

An enemies to lovers thing between him and another general would be pretty funny tho. Just have a raging, yelling, maybe even physical fight over tactics for war, which maybe leads to hateful *intimate moments* if you catch my drift? I'd absolutely love to put him in his in place way or another 😈

Also I think it would be cool if Reiko had a softer/motherly parental figure after his family died. It'd probably fix some of his issues lmao

Shao Kahn wasn't one to decorate. The only reason the palace had any decorations was because of the previous rulers. He never touched their decorations. He left it the way that it was. It wasn't until you came into his life that things began to change. He didn't mind the change and gave you anything that you could possibly want.

“Shao, do you think we could decorate the castle?” You asked him one day as he studied the paperwork in front of him.

“Sure you can.”

You placed your hand on the papers, and he looked at you. He blinked. No one ever interrupted his business like that. If anyone did, they were killed. He wouldn't do that to you, but it must be serious that you interrupted him like that.

“You can do anything you would like, love. You know where my money is.”

“No, I want you to decorate with me.”

He closed his eyes as he smiled. No one ever included him in things like this. He didn't know what to do or how to do it. He might mess up. He didn't want to do that.

“Please.”

He breathed in and took your hand.

“Okay, I will, but I don't know how.”

“That's okay; I'll tell you what to do.”

He nodded, and you left.

You gathered up your supplies and waited for him when he wasn't busy. It wasn't long, and he looked down at you.

“So we put the tree up there.” You said as you pointed to the empty spot in the room.

“What tree?”

“This.” You said as you gestured to the tree in the box. You took the pieces out and handed them to him.

He studied the parts.

“This isn't a tree, though.”

“Not yet, we have to put it together.”

He helped you put the tree together and fluff it up. You handed him some decorations, and he hung them up on the tree. He was only putting it on the top of the tree, as he didn't want to bother going for the lower branches. You had no issues covering the bottom half of the tree.

“Now we put the star on top. We can do it together, or you can…”

You didn't get to finish as he picked you up with one hand, the other hand, holding onto the star so that you guys could do it together.

He set you back down and looked to you for direction.

“We can hang this tinsel around the doorways.”

“Do you want to do it, or do you want me to...”

You looked at the doorway. There wasn't any way that you were going to reach them. Not without any help.

“You can.” You said as you handed him the tinsel. He placed it on the corners of the doorframe. Together, you both wandered the castle. You would hand him the tinsel, and he would hang them up.

You smiled at him as you both made your way through the castle, taking a look at your decorations.

“It looks beautiful.”

you watch Kano lift your baby into the air, making some sort of ridiculous sound as he does so and your daughter laughs in delight

she’s only a few months old, but she had the same vigor as her father, excitable and a trouble-maker in the works, finding every which way to exhaust you and Kano

but it was bliss, and you snap a picture of the scene on a digital camera before leaning back in your chair continuing to read your book

your daughter babbles out a jumble of words that don’t make sense together but she gurgles out a baba, and Kano coos at her, tickling her stomach and saying that, yes he was her baba

the time ticks by quickly as Kano plays with her and then passes her to you to be fed with the bottle as soon as she got fussy

he sits behind you, warming your back with his heat, and he keeps his thick arms wrapped around your waist as you cradle your daughter in your arms

your husband rests his chin on your shoulder and watches with what you can assume is heart eyes as your daughter starts to grow sleepy, eyes drooping close

she’s trying to fight it so hard, startling awake every so often and eyes fluttering open, but she loses the fight and soon falls asleep in your arms

you stand up carefully, rocking her slowly, and wrap her up in her blanket before placing her down in the crib, slightly rocking it as she lets out a little noise

the both of you stand over the crib, watching to see if she awoke, but as the minutes passed by, she stayed firmly asleep, little snores escaping her

your husband grabs onto your hand bringing you away from your daughter, and he closes the door to her room gently, barely a sound coming from it

you give him a smile and wrap your arms around his neck and plant a kiss on his lips, his beard scratching against your face, and Kano chuckles and wraps his arms around you as well

the both of you just rock to a silent beat as you hold each other, a quiet moment just for yourselves, but then he finally pulls away and says that he wants to shave

you pout at him, fingers coming up to rub them through the coarse hair and saying that you liked his facial hair, but he just says he wants to try something new

sighing at him, you relent, and the both of your make your way to the bathroom

he washes his face, and then he rubs shaving cream into his coarse beard and you grab the shaver from the drawer and sharpen it

it was one of those old-timey shavers that you saw in barbershops or historical dramas, but Kano took great pride in his facial hair and only wanted the best for himself

so you learned how to shave using it

he turns to face you, leaning down to give you better access, and you hold his face gently and scrape it across with careful and precise strokes

it’s only the sound of his hair being cut as you work in silence, and the both of you look like a mess, having taken care of a baby all day

and yet, he looks at you like you were the most fashionable and beautiful person in the world, and you just pinch his nose and tell him to stop looking at you like that as you finish up

he smirks at you, and your eyes widen in horror as you realize what he’s about to do, and you try to step back

but it’s too late and he smashes his clean-shaven face into yours, specks of shaving cream and cut hair smushing into your cheeks

you squirm in his hold, trying to get away, but you can’t squeal or shriek in fear of waking the baby, so it’s just a silent struggle for a few minutes between the two of you

by the time he’s done, you look even worse, dirty shaving cream shoved all around your face, but he just gives you a passionate kiss at the end, his hand cupping the back of your neck and a soft groan leaving his throat

you can’t help but melt into it, your hand coming up to rest on his shoulder, and the two of you just kiss in the bathroom until your lungs burn

finally, you pull away, and the two of you get ready for bed, his warm body surrounding you and his mechanical heart beating against your back

the both of you fall asleep quickly

and then you’re awoken by a scream and cry from your baby for food a few hours later, and Kano presses you into the bed and tells you to get some rest, and he’ll get the baby

you smile and hum, thanking him as you let the dredges of sleep drag you back down into dreamland, and he quickly leaves the room to warm a bottle of milk

it’s only a few minutes later when you hear a louder wail cry for help, of distress and not just for milk, and you shoot up and out of your bed

quickly, you slam open your drawer and grab your gun, breathing heavily and hoping and hoping that the Red Dragon or the OIA hadn’t found your baby

you kick the door down, raising your gun up, but it’s just Kano, looking distressed as he holds your daughter in his arms, who has tears and snot running down her face

he looks bewildered and distraught, and when your daughter spots you, her hands immediately come up towards you and make a grabby motion

you drop the gun to the floor and rush over, Kano easily handing her over, and she immediately calms down, sniffling into your shirt and tiny hands gripping onto it like a lifeline

asking in her in a soft voice why she didn't want daddy, she just shakes her head, hiccuping out not daddy, not daddy

you look to Kano, and he’s brought his hand up to rub his bare chin

you realize why your daughter can’t recognize him, and you let out a snort as you bounce your baby in your arms and get her to calm down

your husband narrows his eyes at you, crossing his arms and asking what was so funny, and you smirk at him and say to your daughter, oh yeah, daddy has a beard, doesn’t he

your daughter nods in agreement, looking Kano from the corner of her eye and then turning her head away, and Kano has his jaw dropped in astonishment

he reaches for her again, saying that he just shaved, but then she starts screaming again, and so he drops his arms back to his side

his eyes are wide, jaw dropped, and he looks from you to his daughter, and you just hold your hand up for the bottle in his hand

he hands it over to you, and you give it to your daughter, one of her hands gripping onto it as she starts to drink the milk

Kano grumbles, eyebrows furrowed and lips turned into a dejected frown, and you just smile and burp your daughter as she falls asleep again

you put her down in her crib again and wait to see if she wakes up again, but she doesn’t

you turn to Kano, and he’s still pouting so you just give him a quick kiss and drag him out into the hallway and softly close the door

I was thinking about old timeline Sindel, like original story. You know that Shao wouldn’t allow Kitana around her often once Kitana was old enough to walk and talk, and even then, she’d be supervised.

So I want you to imagine, before Sindel commits suicide, Shao Kahn visits her with Kitana and Sindel had to pretend to be pleased with how her beloved daughter is learning how to kill in the service of Shao Kahn.

How tragic. Forcing a smile to your daughter, as if seeing her so proud about brutality doesn’t claw at your fragmented heart.

Bi Han’s irony and pain

So I was doing some research for my mortal kombat au when I came across Bi Han tower ending from the first game.

This stuck out as a little weird to me because well… retiring? From the Lin Kuei? The clan who kills people without remorse? Who are willing to kidnap children to recruit to their ranks? Who will sacrifice their members to create cyborgs. Who are willing to team up with know threats to Outworld? Yeah, if anything I think it more likely Bi Han was going to run away from the Lin kuei and you live off the money he got from the kill. But then that got me thinking… since is from first timeline, he was born in America and raised there with his mother right? What if he was specifically trying to run away to America to find his mom. Okay yes I know that probably not what they intended but ,at least for me it makes sense. We’ve already other timeline Bi Han’s having high reverence for their mothers.

What to say original timeline Bi Han the same. But that got thinking on how that might explain Bi Han actions. Again hear me out. We know Bi Han tends to be more hotheaded and aggressive than his younger brother. But what if the reason for that isn’t arrogance or bloodlust but anger at the Lin kuei itself. Imagine your just living your life as a normal child when all of a sudden you’re kidnapped but some strange people to work for them, forced into hard training regime your body isn’t used too and forced to commit horrific acts at such a young age. We don’t know how old Bi Han was when he was taken but we do know he was a kid when it happened so his mind and sense of self were still developing and he had some time to live a normal life before he was taken. His stubbornness and hotheaded nature were a result of him angry at the Lin kuei for taking what essentially his life away. And maybe his more aggressive ways could be due to trauma caused by the Lin kuei, damaging his mental state. This might also explain Kuai Liang as well. We don’t know how old he was when he was kidnapped but what if he was only a baby when it happened. He wouldn’t have know any other life other than the Lin Kuei. The harsh training and killing wouldn’t affect him as much because in his mind it this was normal. He wouldn’t have a reason to be more angry or aggressive because to him this was fine. Heck who knows maybe while Bi Han may have become more aggressive he could’ve taught his brother about morality to ensure his brother didn’t go down as much of a violent path as the rest of the Lin kuei. Maybe this is why he spared Sareena, not just because of mercy specifically but because he saw another soul who was forced into a life they didn’t want and he was felt bad for her and wanted to give her a chance. But honestly the thing that stuck out the most was the complete irony of his situation later on his life. This is a version of sub zero who constantly fought for his freedom, yet when it was in his grasp, he was killed. And when he entered the Netherrealm, even there he wasn’t freed as he was then made into a servant of Shao Kahn and Quan Chi . Maybe that why he hates his brother in that timeline. Kuai Liang escaped the Lin Kuei, he was free yet he went back to the Lin kuei he wasted his chance which Bi Han in his alter state despises. Or maybe he was envious of the time Kuai was free, feeling that it should have been him. Maybe he tried to take over the Lin kuei to destroy it or build it into something else so no one else would feel the pain he felt. I know all of this seems illogical and stupid and it probably wasn’t what Netherrealm had intended but I can’t help think what could’ve have been, something that could’ve made Bi Han more interesting. But nope now we got a Bi Han Lin kuei extremist who just completely evil and not broken. But hey the noob sailboat trailer gave some interesting hints, which could redeem his character. But then then again, we’ll have to wait and see.
