recently i've been trying to learn more, specifically in the tech space. my current job is really unfulfilling and i'm a bit desperate to get out of it. this week i started making my way through the jeremy's IT lab CCNA course; i've seen a lot of job postings i'm interested in mention the certification so that's gonna be my first step towards improving my resume...hopefully.
jeremy is a great teacher, he explains everything really well. i'm only a few lectures in so far though, so i havent made it to the harder stuff yet. i love his flashcards too, theyre a great learning aid! it's gonna take me a while to get through the entire course, especially since i'm working, but i really hope i can pass the exam.
i also love coding, so i've been looking at more of that content on youtube, mainly the primeagen. hes kind of insane but thats the best part of his content. ive been watching thor (piratesoftware) and lowlevellearning a lot too. thor is especially entertaining, game dev is something i want to try sometime as well.
i tried listening to tech/programming podcasts while driving home from work, but i think i prefer listening to something more leisurely at that time. the podcasts had my brain a bit too fried, i need to give myself time to unwind after a full work day. funnily enough, primeagen's "how to make time to learn after work" video got recommended to me yesterday, where he talks about how constant passive consumption can be more damaging to your learning progress than helpful. he explained that in his case, doing focused learning for shorter periods of time is way more effective than passively consuming material/multitasking over long periods of time. i think thats the case for me as well.
he also put emphasis on focusing on one task at a time, especially things you enjoy doing. like just being in the moment and really enjoying this thing you like, instead of turning on a podcast or tv show or video to divide your attention while you do it. i've been thinking about that too. its crazy how the algorithm works sometimes

year four
So in my 4-year undergrad, I realized something. I really can’t work full time hours + go to school full time + raise a puppy. What was I thinking?!?! I was hired to work at Wal-Mart in my second year (yes, you can say whatever you want. haha), and they weren’t really understanding about the fact that 90% of their employees are students. They always get upset that they have to constantly hire people, but they don’t realize that they don’t take care of their CURRENT employees. ANYWAYS, that’s beside the point.
Since I am currently still an applicant to law schools, and I’m graduating this year, I decided to go through my grade report and see what happened. It was in my second year that it completely tanked my GPA. And then in 3rd year, I was experiencing MS relapses (at the time I didn’t know I had MS), which impacts my cognitive and my ability to type or write. And the ability to even go to class.
But by the grace of God, and His faithfulness to fulfill what He started, I’m doing well in school.
AND
I got into 3 law schools! I am still waiting for 2 more, but God is good no matter what we go through. Just give Him the glory!
