I am delighted to announce that my bowl sculpture titled 👉 Copper bowl in yellow and black has been chosen for exhibition in the Market House gallery as part of the Mountshannon Regeneration arts festival on the 👉 24th to the 26th of September. Handmade in the West of Ireland It is a tactile piece, with weaving shades of copper, yellows, black and orange. Medium: Salvaged sourced 50-year-old Copper, Fully handcrafted by traditional metalworking techniques and Patina aging and finishing methods. No paint is used on the Copper medium the colours are achieved by exploiting the materials natural ability to self-oxidise. This item is original and one of a kind Influence for creation: The West of Ireland landscape, the Shannon Estuary as the sun sets. A new commission to start of the new year, the client wanted something of impact and on a large scale as it will be a centre piece for a large music room. I created a rough sizing template so the client would get a feel for it's size and form. It is a Hare and Blood Moon (medium copper on timber) which is taking shape, I am also delighted to have a transition art student with me for the next few weeks and we will complete this process together so he can see a commission from concept to completion. It's great to see my My Red Seahorse finally mounted in its new home, I love the way the light bounces off the textured finish. It's history: It is hammered to form by hand using 70 year old sourced salvaged copper, a green/blue patina has been added around the little red fishy. No paint is used - the colours are achieved by exploiting the material's ability to oxidise. Mounted on a handmade birch ply frame 970x800mm. I have being experimenting to find the perfect backdrop to showpiece my Burren jewellery designs. I found that shooting the right photo of a jewellery item to do it proper justice is not easy and takes time and much effort. However, this image I personally think works as the water ripples add movement and life to the tactile elements of the pendant. I would love to hear your feedback on this image, thank you Richard.
