Even if no one else comes. ASL Brothers
𓂃Pairings: ASL Brothers x Big Sister!Reader, Father Figure!Shanks x Daughter of Consideration!Reader, Father Monkey D.Dragon x Daughter!Reader, Grandfather!Garp x Granddaughter!reader
𓈃Summary: What would it be like to be the older sister of the ASL brothers, and Luffy's older sister by blood? it would be many things but if you cared for your brothers with your soul, body and mind along with your heart it made Shanks want to protect you just like his father and grandfather and how would their reaction be when they found out that you are the keeper of eternity with a 50 Billion reward for Belly, who did horrible things but it wasn't you.
RAIDEN SHOGUN!READER
「 Time where everyone is still a child, Luffy 7 years old, Ace and Sabo 10 years old and Reader 13 years old」
⤑ Well, as you grew up caring for and protecting Luffy from everyone your biological father, Garp and Shanks got to know you first than everyone else
⤑ When Luffy wanted to prove his courage to Shanks and sent the knife in his face we say that you were like this: 🤨😐 to Shanks and when Makino took care of Luffy's wound Shanks was distracted and then you... hit him with a big slap doing his head hurt at least all day and he said that if he did shit to his little brother there would only be the straw hat left as the rest of him
⤑ After that day Shanks realized how you were the mother figure to Luffy and how you protected him with body and soul, from that day Shanks started to respect you as a real mother to Luffy and took care of you like a daughter in that moment he saw how you I wanted to have parents to support but I didn't
⤑ Dad Shanks springs into action! Luffy and Uta love you along with the crew since you were the oldest there and with the greatest sense and that was funny all of the redhead's crew besides him were surprised at your maturity compared to your age
⤑ When the redhead teased you, you just looked at him like this: 🤨 ( Side Eye ) and he looked at you like this: 😗 ( Sweet daughter )
⤑ When Luffy was caught you literally shed your blood to save him and even Redhead's crew had to stop you from going after him just so you wouldn't get hurt anymore, in short Shanks gave the straw hat to Luffy and to you the mission of take care of your brother
⤑ ( Shanks sees you as his little eldest daughter and he loves you, plus he cried when you called him dad for the first time, hush friend )
⤑ Well now going to Ace and Sabo, they admire you a lot Sabo maybe admit it but Ace will never admit it
⤑ You are the mother figure of the three and period! being the eldest of the three you help Dadan with these devil miniatures, she thinks you are an angel who helps her every single day
⤑ It doesn't matter to you if Ace was the son of the former king of pirates Gold D. Roger to you he was Monkey D. Ace your other little brother! along with Sabo and Luffy
⤑ Do you still remember when you fought with Ace and he said he hated you and you just replied that you didn't hate him and that you loved him, poor thing he stood still trying to process that you even added that since that day they met he was your brother and you took care of your family
⤑ One of the best times for the three of you was when you made a bonfire and huddled together while you read stories or created to amuse or frighten them, but one thing they loved beyond that was watching the stars and moon with you or your hugs
⤑ When you made a promise to sail you said that you would be the last one to take care of them and not leave Luffy alone
⤑ The three are protective of you no matter what or who this is pure truth!
⤑ The three are protective of you no matter what or who this is pure truth!
「 The day you became Raiden Shogun or known as Raiden [name]」
⤑ Everything happened so fast for you, seeing that woman with purple hair staring at you as she said: I found you
⤑ She wanted a host and you wanted to protect her brothers and sisters, it was an unfair exchange, she didn't keep the deal and that resulted in it and all that
⤑ Trapped in that empty time with no one just meditating as she took your body to Inazuma and pretended it was you
⤑ No matter how many times you wanted to fight there was no escape
⤑ One of the only times you broke her conscience was to save Ace and kill that damn man who wanted to hurt her brothers
⤑ Boy, you destroyed almost everything making everyone impressed but soon Raiden came back to consciousness and took you back to Inazuma and you couldn't even talk to anyone
⤑ In the end, for this to never happen again, she tied you with the strings of memories and imprisoned you again, leaving you alone
⤑ In the end, for this to never happen again, she tied you with the strings of memories and imprisoned you again, leaving you alone 「Current time, everyone is alive」
⤑ Congratulations my little grasshopper you have the highest bounty ever with 50 Billion Belly making everyone amazed
⤑ Shanks wanted to congratulate you your granddaughter reached that level but realized it wasn't you, there was no way you could be as cruel as that woman everyone called Raiden [name]
⤑ All of these ( Luffy, Sabo, Ace, Garp ) had the same impression of Shanks, Ace almost jumped off Whitebeard's crew ship just to go to Inazuma to confirm that, poor Whitebeard had to hold Ace for him not to go, O Ace's captain was also shocked by this because the stories Ace told about you to him, you seemed like a kind and innocent girl who didn't kill anyone who went against you
⤑ Little Luffy couldn't believe those lies dirty from you! The whole crew had to hold him back so he wouldn't go looking for you, they tried to convince Luffy that you changed but he didn't believe he would never believe!
⤑ Now when Sabo saw this he was in disbelief! how could a sister who took care of him like a mother do that!? He then showed it to his father and even Monkey D. Dragon was amazed that his beloved daughter had turned into a monster
.⤑ Everyone went to Inazuma to see if this was true until Luffy found Shanks but he wouldn't return the hat the reason they went there was to save his sister! (ASL brothers and their daughter for Shanks and Dragon)
⤑ After a lot of fighting I mean a lot of fighting!, you managed to get out of that damn control of Raiden and realized what you did, you thought everyone would leave you for doing that they did instead Shanks put you lying on his lap like he used to do when you you were a child, Luffy, Ace de Sabo ran to hug you saying they loved you
⤑ At the end of it all you became an honest and kind person unlike Raiden but you were very strong and ended up becoming a Yonko ( papa Shanks and pirate brothers are proud! ) and they made a feast but each on their ship
⤑ You became known as various titles but it didn't bother your father (Shanks and Dragon) or your brothers or grandpa Garp they were proud of how you cared and how you were Raiden [name]

Yandere One Piece x Neglected Reader
A/N: This is a Yandere Red Hair crew x Reader. No there is no romance with the crew since this is a platonic yandere story. The Theory of Shanks being a villain was in my head when i wrote this. Annd WATCH ONE PIECE FILM: RED, before readind this.
Enjoyyy!!!
Imagine you are Shanks' biological daughter/child and is also a Mage, but he favors Uta more and isn't afraid to show it. Uta was top priority no matter what, from getting gifts to your fathers love, you only got the leftovers. You can sing? Uta can do much better, You dance? Uta dances like a pro. You can play instruments? Ha... Uta can do it with her eyes closed. That's how your life has been, secondary to Uta. You gave up anything related to music even though you love it with your whole heart. You started studying medicine under Benn. But you forgot you were a special child......... A Mage.
You lost control once, destroying almost a whole town. What did Shanks do? Nothing... At the age of 7, you had a bounty on your head. But when Uta destroyed a town at 6, He took the blame so she can have a normal life... Why can't you have the same treatment? You confronted him and what did he do, he dismissed you like always. After she left you finally thought they no He would acknowledge you. But how wrong you were. You had enough and that was the last time you called Shanks "Dad". You saw Benn as more of a father figure than your own father, everyone still doted on Uta. Having pics and videos of he but none of you....
You grew up just fine. But one day everything changed, Portegus D Ace, or Fire fist Ace had came to the island where you and Shanks's crew were staying. Why? To thank Shanks for saving his little brother Luffy. You and Ace instantly clicked for some reason even though you both have nothing in common, but Ace was funny and made you feel safe and mattered. You made your decision to leave with him, you packed a few essentials and wrote a letter to everyone instead of saying it to their face that you were leaving. In your small bag you kept you medicinal journals, first aid kit, few pairs of cloths and underwears. Your sword on your waist with the staff that you brought and modified to your liking.
Your adventures with Ace were amazing, you both fell for each other, confessed in the stary night. About 2 months later he proposed, you obviously said yes. You met Whitebeard and his crew, they accepted you as their own. You wedding was held on the ship where Whitebeard literally held you like thumblina due to the size difference. After your wedding, Thatch was hurt badly but with your help, he was able to make a full recovory. Ace was adament on going after Teach, and you wanted to accompany him. He refused saying it was too dangerous, but you were firm so he didn't exactly have a choice.
You guys left together, and even met his little brother Luffy in Alabasta. The fight with Teach caused both of you to be captured, and in line for the execution. Ace was worried, not about him, but about you. How could he have put you in danger when he was supposed to protect you? He should have knocked you out before leaving. Now you suffer with him..
Luffy and others came to help, but...... Ace died..... You tried to heal him but due to the malnourishment and lack of mana, you couldn't. You held him close crying, begging the God above, just once, just this once allow you to defy reality. But your begging was left unanswered..... You didn't move from the spot and awaited your death by the hand of the Admiral but Koby steped in front of you, your soft voice telling him its okay and he could move but he didn't, he couldn't.
Shanks arrived to your utter surprise, saved Koby and you. He looked at you expecting a reaction but you were too busy mourning the death of your husband. Benn was the one who was finally able to calm you down, and make you stop hugging Ace since they need to Burry him. You let go.... You had to. The Red Hair pirates took you to their ship, Red Force, and in your old room. They laid you there since you had gone numb, they closed the door on their way out, telling you to call them if you need anything.
The only thing that was going through your mind was, to burn that goddamn place down, the place that took away your Husband, Love, and Your Will to Live. After Luffy's anouncement, you did exactly that, Burned that shit to the ground. The Red Hair crew were finally treating you better and soon enough you let your guard down. But all good things come to an end don't they?
Shanks had brought a girl, who looked like she was about 16-17 years old, and severely malnourished. He told everyone how this girl, who introduced herself as Rina, was sold at a brothel and he had to do some thing, so he bought her and decided to adopt her as his daughter. You thought nothing would change, but she stared showing her true colours (atleast Uta didn't try to take something which was yours, so she was tolerable). She started making comments about your stuff and how she would love to have things like that, in front of everyone, so they (the crew) would ask you to give it to her. If you refused, she would play the victim until you gave in.
She crossed a line one day by asking you to give her your ring.... Your WEDDING RING. You bluntly refused, she played the victim again, but this time you Refused to the whole crew. Saying she won't be getting this ring. When guilt tripping didn't work, they tried to coax you. You told them to cut the bullshit and this ring will stay with you forever. Shanks got mad and told you to give the ring to Rina since its just a ring and he can buy you another one. You shouted at him telling him to by Rina the new ring, instead of you. This turned into a shouting match and Shanks tried to intimidate you by using his conqueror's haki, but he forgot you also learnt it and from him.
Finally you said that if He could answer 3 of the questions you ask him, correctly, Rina can have your ring. The 3 questions were "When was your birthday?" " What your age was?" and last " What was your marital status?" He repiled, "1st October" , " 18 years old" and "Single". He was so confident that he asked for the rings. But you started laughing hysterically to the point tears were forming in your eyes, this caused everyone to be confused. Why are you laughing? You told him that all 3 questions were wrong and You weren't Uta, since it her information he gave you. He was about to argue but you told him Your birthday was on (your birthdate), you were 20 years old and now a widow. Your eyes were cold and numb, without a spark. A broken 'What' came out of thew whole crews mouth. You gave them the fakest smile and then went to your room, leaving everyone to process the information. Okay they may have gotten your birthdate and age wrong, but you were a Widow?
When they finally processed everything and wanted answers they saw you, with a bag on your shoulder and going to get a small boat. They asked you where you were going. And you replied, "where I won't see your face." Just as you wee about to get in the boat you heard gunshots. Yassop had shot the boat.....Bitch . You looked unfazed and just used a levitating spell, over the year, you had goten good at controling your mana, so it wasn't a problem for you to cast precise spells anymore. Just as you wee about to take off, Shanks grabbed your wrist and threw you on the floor ( having no choice) and asked you, who your husband was. Looking directly in his Eyes, you said a name that made their blood run cold... Portgas D. Ace. The man who died in your arms.... was your Husband. It made sense, it made so much sense about why you weren't letting go of him when they wanted to burry his body.
You Suffered So much ALONE.
Just as Rina opened her mouth again, about the ring. Benn shot her while Shanks beheaded her. The blood splattered everywhere, even on you face. The cold look in Shanks eyes when he looked at the dead body, TERRIFIED you. You screamed causing shanks to look at you. He cooed at you while wiping the blood from your face and picking you up, like a baby. Whispering and cooing about how sorry he was to have done this to you. And how he will make it better. He was looking at you like you were 5. You on the other hand were frozen in fear.
Your flight or fright reflex activated and you kicked him and in the split second of surprise, where he loosened his grip. You flew, faster then ever before. You had to get away. What if you were next who would die by his hands. When you were high enough, You scremed telling him not to look for you. And then Teleported, you forgot you could do that due to the overwhelming fear because YOU KNEW what he was capable of...
But Shanks couldn't do that. You were His Daughter, His little girl. You would be in danger out there in the New World without him. You Said you Joined Luffy, didn't you?
I guess Shanks will have to pay him a visit.
Soon....

All the child fics I see have the child as a little ray of sunshine that’s loved to pieces by everyone, but I think it would be a little funny if they found a kid that was rather awkward instead. If you have any suggestions on other awkward kid reader like scenarios or other characters go ahead and request.
Shanks, Buggy, and Smoker with an Awkward!Child Reader.
Shanks
“Oh! Hey, there’s some kids here.” Shanks crouches down and speaks to you, but you quickly shake your head. “Listen, I know you aren’t the best at socializing but just try it out. Just for a bit?” He’s a bit worried, you don’t get to be with other kids much being on the Red Force. Looking into his eyes you start to feel a bit guilty, eventually nodding your head. Shanks smiles brightly “Great! C’mon, I’ll make sure you’re safe, okay?” He picks you up and goes over to the kids playing. Once you’re both close enough he sets you down, but you just stand there. He gives you a little push and you stiffly walk to the kids. They spot you and you freeze.
“Huh? Who are you?” They walk over to you and you go as still as possible. “Hello?” One of the kids waves a hand in front of your face but you just stand there like a statue. Shanks looks on, worried that you’ll get bullied. He shakes his head.
‘No, I should have faith in them as their father.’ He thinks to himself as the kids gather around the new strange child. They just kind of stare at you. One of the kids pokes you and you flinch.
“They move! How do you get all frozen like that, are you made of stone?” Your eyes slowly trail to your dad, nervous. He just gives you a thumbs up. Shanks gets approached by someone.
“Chief? Oh it’s you!” Shoot, he’s starting to get recognized, this damn hair. He has to entertain them a bit before they finally go away. Shanks quickly looks back to you, worried. The kids have.. started stacking things on you.
“Woahh…”The kids marvel at you. You have multiple blocks on your head, your stillness keeping them from falling. That’s… one way to socialize I guess. Your record is 10 blocks.
Mihawk
Mihawk holds you in his arms, he had taken you in a few months ago even before Cross Guild. To be honest, he was hesitant to bring you with him, but it was already known he had a child by this point. It’s safer to keep you where he can be with you, it’s one of the reasons he joined. Having a stable place to stay is best for you. Another worry he had is that the clown and Crocodile would be a bad influence on you, that you would turn into some sort of delinquent. Children can be unpredictable, and easily manipulated. However, that ended up not being the case. In fact, they seemed to be a good influence. Not because they were passing on good features, no, it was simply because you disliked them enough that you marked them as “bad examples”, he couldn’t be more relieved. It’s unfortunate you don’t make friends but this is better than becoming anything like Buggy or Crocodile. They had even attempted to appeal to you, trying to befriend you to have some sort of connection to Mihawk. Buggy so that Mihawk would be softer on him, Crocodile so that Mihawk would have incentive to be loyal. It didn’t work out. Crocodile realized very fast you were terrified of him, he isn’t the best with children either; and there’s too much risk trying to get close to you when your father hates when you’re scared. Buggy however…
“Hey, kid, here.” Buggy offers you candy, you stare at it then slowly back away, clearly uncomfortable. “Ah, uhhh.. What about this?” He starts to juggle, but you also look nervous, looking away. ‘This damn brat, aren’t kids supposed to like clowns?’ He curses in his head, but keeps a smile on his face. Finally, in one last effort, he pulls off his head and starts to do tricks with his limbs. “See? Cool isn’t i-” When he looks at the spot you were in you’re gone, like a mouse that skittered away. “God dammit, fucking kid.” Right as he says that he feels an intimidating presence behind him, hawk eyes digging into his back. He might be fucked.
Smoker
“Sea prism works on devil fruit users like Captain Smoker and this person. That’s why you don’t have to be scared, they can’t do anything to you.” Tashigi explains to you, holding the sea prism cuffs. She’s babysitting you for a bit while Smoker is taking care of business since you can’t exactly be left alone at your age. You had gotten startled by a prisoner being led to jail earlier, so she was explaining how they’re harmless with the cuffs on; even showing them to you. “You want to hold them?” You slowly nod and hold them in your little hands, they’re kind of heavy. While you’re looking at them Tashigi looks to the door, Smoker is back. “Ah Captain Smoker you’re ba-”
Click
…Oops. You put them on by accident. Immediately you start to panic, trying to get them off your wrist. “Ah, wait, I can just take them off for you. Stand still!” You’re panicking too much though, waving your arm around while Smoker sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. Before she can grab you though, you end up flinging the cuff off of your wrist. It was too big to fit you anyway, the key wasn’t needed. Unfortunately, you end up flinging them directly at your dad, hitting him on the head. He flinches and falls back, the sea prism making him weak. “Captain Smoker!” He falls to the ground and you freak out like a startled cat, running around the office while knocking things over. Tashigi, flustered, doesn’t know what to do first. The cuffs slide off of his body and he moves again, grabbing you by the back of your shirt like a kitten. “I’m so sorry, sir I didn’t think-” He raises a hand to stop her.
Your father looks at you, your face guilty, and sighs. “It’s fine.” The office is a mess now, it’s actually a bit impressive. At least he doesn’t have to worry about people catching you. “No more cuffs.” He’ll worry about the office later, you’re more important.

If someone asked you how many years you’d been a marine, your answer would be uhm, well, less than ten, because the actual number was lost to you. But you knew it’d been less than ten. Being with the marines for more than a decade was a thought that shot nausea straight to your gut.
However long it’d been, things had reached a comfortable norm. You rarely saw Koby those days. Back when you were stationed on the same ship, you and he had grown close, finding something familiar in the soul of the other. Now Koby was a captain, you were just under him in rank as a commander, and the two of you were under different commands.
You rarely noticed when a day passed anymore. It was all a numbing cycle of chores, reports, and arrests—repeat. Your cohorts had taken to a game they called Make-Y/N-Crack, in which they did everything in their power to draw any sort of reaction from you.
No one had won so far, your deadpan too seeped into your whole being that you’d near forgotten how to smile.
Your main indicator of a passage of time was the wear and tear of Luffy’s wanted poster, one of his very first, and certainly not his last. It was faded in some places and torn in a corner, but you held it close to you wherever you went, including the island your ship was stopped at for supplies.
Given that the ship would be there for a few days, you and your fellows had one night to yourselves to roam the town and do as you pleased.
“Commander—”
“We’re off duty, Nia. Call me my name,” you said evenly, cutting off the soldier girl. Nia burned bright red, mouth snapping shut. You sighed. “What do you need?”
“Well, I was just wondering why you’re going that way?” she asked, jutting her chin at the side street you’d been headed toward when she called you back. Behind Nia, a rowdy crowd of fellow marines waited for their friend to join, each casting you a contemplative kind of glower. “We’re all headed to the bar, if you wanted to come?”
They all hated you, for reasons you didn't bother to fathom. All except Nia, who was possibly too gentle to be a commissioned marine, in your opinion. “I’m fine. I know where I’m going.”
She nodded once and turned tail, jogging after her friends who nudged her shoulder with a tease you didn’t catch. You stood for a moment and watched them go; you watched their easy smiles and close camaraderie, and you missed that.
Koby flourished in this line of work, setting out everyday to make this world better. You felt you should be doing the same—that you were doing the same—but it all felt so useless. So mundane. Worthless.
You had yet to cross paths with the pirate Monkey D. Luffy. It hadn't yet been a decade, but what if ten years did pass? What then? Would you continue as you are, mindlessly walking a path you’d carved for yourself?
“I need a drink,” you muttered, turning back down the dimly lit street.
You were somewhat familiar with the town, having been here once before around a year ago. Koby had been with you then, that being one of your last weeks together before he was promoted and moved to a different ship.
It was your intention to find the cozy tavern once again to maybe mull over some of your less-bitter memories. That thought had you running a hand over your face. What’s become of me?
Sometimes you forgot why you’d joined the marines, and then the poster tucked into the pocket of your coat burned with the reminder. Other times, you wondered why you stayed after all this time (you hadn't found a decent answer for that yet).
You found it was easier to get drunk than to wonder where your decisions had led you.
The moment you stepped into the tavern a wave of warm air hit you, along with the odor of sweat, alcohol, and bread. Not the most pleasing combination, but you trudged inside and beelined for the bar anyway.
The bartender shot you a tight grin, stress lining her forehead. “What can I get ya?”
“Surprise me,” you muttered, setting some money down on the counter. She swiped it up and made to fetch a drink, but her eyes found your messy uniform first. She hesitated, glancing up at you, before warily continuing on her way.
You threw your head into your hands, heaving a sigh. You really should have changed before leaving the ship. Being a marine didn’t make you popular with a great many people. You liked it when town’s smiled at you even when they saw your uniform, but those occurrences were growing fewer and farther between.
If only you had Koby’s optimism. If only you had the guts to stand up. If only you’d gone with Luffy. If only, if only, if only…
He’d probably forgotten all about you, moved on with the sea in his hair and light in his eyes.
“Here you go.” The bartender placed a drink to your right. You cast it a glance and pulled it closer, peering into the dark liquid. “Strong stuff. Ya look like you need it.”
You nodded through a huffy laugh. “Thanks, miss.”
After cracking your neck you tipped back your drink, grimacing at the sting and just plain awful taste. She chuckled as she walked away. “Told you.”
“Yeah, yeah,” you mumbled into the cup, taking another swig and slamming it back down with a cough.
A figure plopped into the seat beside you, the ruffling of their coat meeting your ears. They let free a hefty sigh, and you swore you felt their exhaustion just radiating off their skin.
“Brandy, if you please.”
You choked into your cup, this time not from the rancid burn. Stiff as a board, you stared daggers into the bar, hands tight around the cup. The bartender handed over a glass to the person beside you.
“Thank you, sweetheart.” That voice was gruff with a sly tilt to it. You knew that voice.
You didn’t want to turn, but you did anyway, wide eyes landing on the profile of a one armed, red haired pirate you thought for certain you’d never see again.
Shanks swirled around his liquor before taking a drink, slamming the cup back down a moment later. Really, you should have fled the site and gone to spend a miserable night with the other marines. But your whole body was seized up, eyes locked on Luffy’s idol.
“I—” you squeaked, cupping a hand over your mouth an instant later as Shanks cast you a side eye.
Immediately, he was curious, wondering why exactly this kid looked so familiar. He turned his head, disturbed by how you stared at him like you’d seen a ghost. scrutinizing your face, it hit him like a punch to the gut; in his mind’s eye he shrank you down a few feet, gave you a set of buck teeth, and placed you next to a little curly headed boy.
“Y/N?” He laughed. “What—You’re so big!”
Though he smiled, you couldn’t help but picture his face in a wanted poster. Your uniform felt all too hot and heavy all of a sudden. “Uh…”
“What’re you doing here, kid?” He clapped you on the shoulder and nearly knocked the breath out of you. “Where’s Luffy? I never thought I’d see one without the other.”
You hated to spoil his excitement at the prospect of seeing the boy, so you avoided the question altogether. “I’m here for work.”
He saw right through you, his smile losing some of its genuineness. “And Luffy?” You turned and tipped back the last of your drink, and Shanks finally noticed your attire, particularly the familiar emblem. “Shit—the Marines? Really?”
Annoyance crept up your mind. You held your cup in both hands, gaze hung. “Commander Y/N, at your service.”
“Commander… wow.” He shifted to completely face you, a grin working up his face. “That’s amazing.”
You had expected a shout, maybe the retrieval of his pistol. Not whatever that was. You faced him warily, catching pride flashing in his eyes. “You’re not angry…”
“Why would I be?” He waved for the bartender to bring him another drink, motioning two fingers at her. “You’re successful. Always knew you would be, Worm.”
A childish part of you fluttered at the mention of that old nickname. Bookworm. Hah. You hardly read these days, always too busy. The bartender put down two shot glasses and swept away. “But… My job is to catch pirates like you.”
He scoffed, nudging your glass toward you. “No offense, Commander Bookworm, but you’re not catching me anytime soon.”
“I wasn't going to try. Just saying.” You picked up the glass and watched him reach to clink his to yours. Letting slide a scant smirk, you accepted the cheers and shot back the liquid in sync with Shanks.
You nearly gagged again as you set the glass back down, laughing. “God, I hate liquor.”
Shanks nudged you as he called for yet another drink. “Can’t say the same.” The conversation fell short, and Shanks cast you a glance as you fiddled with the fabric of your coat. “Mind if I ask how you got here? I mean, I figured for sure you’d be with Luffy. You’ve seen his poster, right?”
“Of course,” you snapped back, your hand passing over your pocket. “I, uhm… A while back, Luffy escaped…”
His eyes held a misty sadness. “And you didn’t.”
You found yourself shaking your head, hands closing into fists. “I chose to stay behind.”
Shanks waited for you to elaborate, blinking blankly. And when you didn’t— “Why the fuck would you do that?”
“Excuse me,” you startled.
“Why the fuck,” he enunciated incredulously, “would you stay behind? He’s gotta be beside himself.”
Straightening up, you narrowed your eyes at him. “Even if he was, it’s been years, Red Hair. He’s gotten over it—”
“Have you?” The question was instantaneous, no hesitation behind the dagger-like words.
“What?”
“Gotten over it. I doubt you have.”
You gaped at him. “You know nothing about me. Don’t think you’ve got me all figured out just because you ruined my life by giving Luffy all those stupid dreams—” You choked, huffed, and attempted to make a quick escape.
Shanks’ hand found your shoulder, gentle yet firm, and you plopped back onto your seat, eyes closed tight. “Let me go.”
“I’m sorry,” he said slowly. “Okay? I’ll back off.”
Without asking or saying anything at all, the bartender set another glass of that awful drink in front of you. You took a sip, shaking his hand off and taking a moment to breathe. “It was for the best, all right? I would only hold him back. Look how far he’s come. He couldn’t have done that with me lagging after him.”
“Why would you be lagging?” When you didn’t answer, only turning your face away, he nudged you with his shoulder. “Worm?”
That name made it hard to take anything seriously, but somehow, you managed, hissing out a sigh through your teeth. “It’s much easier to read about other people being brave.” Chewing your lip, “I like to read about heroes, mostly to remind myself why I’m not one.”
“You’re a marine. Surely sometimes you’re a hero.”
“Sometimes.” Throwing caution to the wind, you drank your whole glass in one swig, letting the alcohol simmer through your blood and turn your mind hazy.
“What did you mean,” he asked. “When you said I ruined your life?”
“Oh. It’s nothing.”
“Tell me.”
You tried to slide off the stool again. “Goodbye, Shanks.”
He didn’t stop you this time, only shifting to watch you slowly trudge away. Shanks scoffed. “C’mon, Worm. What’re you so afraid of?”
Lots of things. You were afraid of spiders and falling, though not of heights themselves, and you quite liked the daddy-long-legs. You were afraid of losing, of failing, of being wrong. Of seeing Luffy again and having him be completely disappointed with what he saw. An all consuming fear that you can’t change what you are, that you’re too far down this road to ever think of turning back.
You hardly realized you’d stopped walking until Shanks was at your side, moving to catch your distracted gaze. “Kid?”
You swallowed thickly. “I was always content with my fate. Luffy wasn’t, and a lot of that has to do with you. The rest was his own passion.” That incessant burn resurfaced in your throat. “So I stayed because I wasn’t about to drag him down with me. He’s too good. I…”
Dammit. You’d been doing so well. You hadn’t cried in months. Trying to glare, you spat, “Goodbye.”
You made to walk past him and actually leave the building this time, but he caught your wrist. Whirling around, your curses were cut off by a quick and dangerous offer: “Come join my crew.”
Shanks was so sincere, nearly hopeful as he stared into your eyes. You wondered if this is how your father would look at you if he knew how to be kind.
Barely breathing, you shoved every word and every notion down to the pits of your mind, retracting your arm to wrap it around yourself. A singular tear fled your eye and was wiped away in an instant. Shaking your head, you backed away from him, trying not to stumble, and bolted out of the tavern.
The worst of it was Shanks’ sad sigh you caught as you fled, like he’d expected this, like he was wondering why he bothered to ask.
Later, you found Nia and the others waltzing back up to the ship. Your face was dry and your expression a void, and Nia smiled as she raced toward you.
“Commander!” She skidded to a stop, backtracking, “Sorry. Y/N.”
“What is it?” you said a little too harshly.
She wasn’t perturbed, grinning up at you. “Did you find what you were looking for?”
Your heart held this odd numbness you had come to equate with acceptance. Luffy’s poster burned like hellfire in your pocket. “I think so.”
Nia invited you to join the rest of them in the ship’s galley, promising good conversation and cheap wine smuggled on board. You told her you’d think about it, and she chased her friends up the gangway and onto the ship.
The sea licked at the wood of the docks and the wind bit at your skin. And you stood solemnly, watching that crumpled wanted poster become saturated by murky water till it sank out of view.
You regretted it instantly, a recurring theme for you, apparently.
How easy would it be to walk away from the marine vessel and find Shanks again? How simple would it be it to ditch this marine’s coat and set off on your own? Your hands started to tremble at the very notion. Not easy and not simple at all.
Casting a glance up at the starry sky, you bit back a sob, and you made a wish on the first star you laid eyes on. Please, please don’t hate me.
Stiffening, you set your jaw and cursed yourself. You had to get a hold of yourself. Being a marine was hell for you, but you’d been doing it for years. Seeing a ghost from your past and having him give you a chance shouldn’t be so crushing. Honestly, you should be cursing Shanks for giving you an offer you didn’t deserve. This was all his fault, all Luffy’s fault—
And you broke, breath seizing as a silent cry fled your lips.
You loved him—of course you still loved him. You would until you died, you think. And that was the problem. With your arms wrapped around yourself, you thought back to the day everything changed.
Luffy’s little broken boat, disappearing on the horizon, Vice Admiral Garp leering at your shoulder. Your first moments entrapped by fear. You’d been proud of that day, once upon a time. Now you weren’t so sure.
Was there any room to turn back, with years of running from your past behind you?
“Oh, Luffy. What have I done?”
A cord in your heartstrings snapped, and your feet scrambled away from the marine vessel. A gasp ripped from your chest, eyes aflame, and your fists tightened desperately around this bout of courage.
Back down the road, back to the little tavern, you burst through the double doors, certain you looked insane as your eyes sweeped the dim room. The bartender’s eyes snapped up from where she was cleaning the many glasses you and Shanks had left behind. A fistfull of beri had been left in his wake.
“Keep going left,” said the bartender. “You might catch him.”
A thank you slipped past your lips as you raced outside, raising your hands in two L’s to pinpoint the right direction, taking off down the street that faded from cobblestone to dirt under your footfalls.
Over twigs and leaves, under trees that grew thick further down the path, your heart thundered against your ribcage. The sloping road grew thin before it gave way to a secluded beach lit only by the moon. Your chest heaved as sand kicked up behind you.
“Wait!” you cried. “Shanks! Wait, please! I'll go with you! Shanks…”
A little lantern illuminated the dingy too far away to hear you as it rowed closer to the ship anchored out in the bay. A whisper of his name fell off your tongue, throat suddenly dry and stomach sick.
You hit your knees, fists grabbing at grains of sand that slipped through your fingertips. “Come back. Please…”
For the second time in your life, you watched a ship sail away carrying with it the chance of freedom, leaving you on the sand empty and helpless.

Luffy rarely dreamed when he slept. When he did dream, he never remembered it, the wild scenes fading seconds after he woke.
Which is why he startled awake, hands clawing at his hammock, straw hat falling off his face and into his lap. He clung to the sound of your laughter, of your touch grazing his cheek, of the feel of your skin under his hands—
He didn’t dream often, but when he did, he often dreamt of you.
He rubbed at his sleep crusted eyes and ached for the quickly fading memory. The finer details of the plot were soon lost on him, but he knew in this dream you were happy. Luffy liked those dreams much more than the more common ones where you cried, too far out of his reach to comfort.
“Luffy?” spoke Chopper, his voice hazy with sleep as he yawned. “Are you okay?”
“Huh?” Confused, Luffy realized he was gasping for air. “O–Oh, I’m fine, Chopper.” He glanced down from his hammock to offer the reindeer a trembling smile. “I’m good, really.”
Not buying it, Chopper huffed and stood from his own hammock, making quick work of climbing up to Luffy’s. He sat across from his captain, worry all over his furry face. “Did you have a bad dream?”
“Nah, don’t worry ‘bout it.” He reached over to ruffle the tuft of fur between Chopper’s antlers. “Sorry for waking you.”
He smiled softly. “It’s okay.” Chopper started to snuggle into the fabric of the hammock, obviously having no intention of climbing back down. “I was having a bad dream too.”
Luffy leaned back, doing his best to calm his nerves enough to go back to sleep. “Yeah?”
“Mhmm. Nami was angry at me. It wasn’t fun.”
The captain laughed, promptly shut up by a voice from the hammock underneath. “Shut up, would ya?”
Chopper squeaked, “Sorry, Zoro.”
The swordsman sighed and rustled in his hammock. “It's fine. Go to bed.”
Soon Zoro’s snores filled the mens’ quarters, and Chopper’s calm breathing soon followed. Sanji and Usopp snored in tandem as well, till only Luffy remained awake, staring at the ceiling, trying desperately to recall his dream.
You couldn’t be happy, wherever you were. How long had it been? Far too long, though he wasn’t sure exactly how much time had passed since he last saw you on the beach of Foosha Village.
Would he recognize you? Would you recognize him? Luffy had to hope the answer was yes, and he had to hope one day he’d have the chance to rescue you, to set you free just as you freed him.
“I’ll find you,” he threatened the silence. “You can’t hide forever.”
Miles and miles away, kneeling on the sand, you swore you heard a familiar voice in the wind, but it couldn’t have been. You were halfway near drunk. That must've been it.
Luffy turned his head to look out the window of the cabin, and you tilted your chin to stare at the stars. The stars twinkled down on the both of you, promises and threats hung on the wind and sea that separated you.
Some endings are always meant for tragedy. Some loves are meant for doom. It was how Fate worked.
But Fate favored you and Luffy—forever working to save the other, forever aching for the day that would bring you side by side once again.

“Don’t.”
With one leg still thrown over the side of the ship, you whip around and glare at Yassop. You dropped your head onto the railing and groaned, “Come on! I won’t even leave the docks, please!”
Yassop looked up from the gun that he was polishing, shooting you a weary look, “You know the rules, kid.”
“The rules are stupid!”
“Take that up with Shanks if you think so,” he replied in a bored tone.
You give out the most exasperated sigh and hop down from the railing with a huff. The boards creaked under the impact, more so after you began stomping across the deck. Both of you knew full well that talking to Shanks would get you nowhere. He’s the captain and your dad, he isn’t about to take orders from you.
Using more force than probably necessary, you open and slam the door to the captain’s quarters. It doubled as your bedroom, too. That was fine when you were little, but now you wanted your own space. Every time you tried to tell him this, you would just get waved off and told there was no room. It was either his room or bunking with all the other guys, so you begrudgingly accepted your fate of staying where you were. At least he put up a curtain to give you a little privacy.
After flopping onto your bed, you screamed into your pillow at the top of your lungs while kicking your feet on the bed. This was so unfair!
All you wanted was to leave the damn ship on a populated island. The only times you ever got to set foot on solid land was if they stopped at an uninhabited island, but that wasn’t enough for you anymore. You wanted to see people that weren’t your family, see sights that you don’t usually get to see, and pick out your own damn clothes for once! Was that really so much to ask for?!
Violently, you flipped onto your back and scowled at the ceiling, clutching your screamed-in pillow to your chest.
This was all so frustrating, but you didn’t know how to fix it. Talking to your dad was pointless, he never listened to you when you were complaining. The crew was just as bad, they treated you like a baby. But they were all you had. Shanks didn’t let you see, much less talk, to anyone else.
What you needed was leverage. You needed something that would give you enough of an upperhand to get him to listen to you. In essence, you needed blackmail, and you were in the perfect place to find some.
You grinned maliciously as you sprung out of your bed and marched over to his side of the room. Surely there had to be something in here that would give you some dirt on him! You aren’t sure what exactly you’re looking for, but you figure you’ll know it when you see it.
First was the bed. You lifted up the mattress to peek under and see if anything was hidden underneath. Nothing.
Next was the bedside table. You opened all of the drawers one by one. While you did find some stuff, it wasn’t anything useful. Some old maps, pens, notebooks with nothing interesting in them, a mostly empty booze bottle. Nothing scandalous enough to get a leg over on him.
There was a clothes dresser, too. At first you hesitated. No one wants to risk seeing their dad’s underwear, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Pulling open the first drawer, you found a bunch of shirts haphazardly shoved into it. None of them were folded, and it looks like he filled this thing up blindfolded and under intense pressure. No wonder his clothes are so wrinkled. It was a bit of a struggle to close when you were done rifling through it due to how jam-packed it was. Part of a shirt was sticking out after you finally slammed it shut, but you couldn’t be bothered to care. It’s not like you were going to make it look any worse.
The next drawer was similar to the first in terms of how messy it was, but this time with pants. It’s no longer a mystery as to why he perpetually looks like he just rolled out of bed. Whatever, his unfortunate state of fashion is of no real concern to you.
As you dug through the mess of pants, your fingers made contact with something solid. You froze briefly but quickly snapped out of it and grabbed whatever it was you touched. It took a bit of effort, but you freed the object from its tangled up prison. It was a small box. With a lock on it.
Perfect!
This had to be it! If he cared enough to lock it up, then there must be something top secret in here! Giddily, you scurried back to your bed with your findings, not even bothering to kick the dresser shut. You were going to be confronting him with this anyways, no need to be secretive about it.
The box was tossed onto your bed while you dug through your own bedside table, looking for your lockpicking kit. Shanks was about to regret teaching you how to do that.
You threw the kit next to the box and hopped on the bed. The lock was tiny and appeared to be uncomplicated, you’re betting you’ll have it open in under a minute. Grabbing your slimmest hook, you jammed it into the keyhole.
It unlocked instantly. Damn, you might have to make fun of your dad for using such a useless lock.
The lock was discarded and you opened the box. It was full of pieces of paper and photographs. Interesting. You pick up the first photo you see. It’s facing down, the back of it says ‘Uta - 2’. You flip it over, curious to see what that note on the back means.
It’s a picture of your dad when he was much younger, but that wasn’t what stuck out to you. What really caught your eye was the little girl he was holding. She was very young, and her hair was split down the middle with one side being white and the other red. Both of them were grinning from ear to ear. You can’t remember ever seeing your dad look that happy.
You look at the note again. ‘Uta - 2’. The girl looked to be about two years old, so that was probably her age. Was Uta her name? That made sense.
But who is she?
No one has ever mentioned someone named Uta being on board. As far as you were aware, you were the only child that’s ever been with them. Maybe this picture was taken before Shanks became a pirate? No, wait, it can’t be that either. He’s never not been a part of a pirate crew.
You need more information. Setting the picture aside, you start pulling more stuff out of the box. There’s some sheet music. The handwriting is somewhat neat, but also big and exaggerated with more loops than necessary and hearts dotting the i’s. Like it was written by a child. On the bottom, the name Uta was signed in large cursive letters.
Another photo is taken out, Shanks isn’t in it, but Uta and other members of his crew are. Uta is standing on a box like some sort of a makeshift stage, and appears to be singing if you had to guess. The others were clapping and cheering her on. This was definitely taken a while ago. Benn’s hair hadn’t even turned gray yet. The back of it said ‘Uta - 5’.
The next picture once again has Uta in it. She’s sitting next to a little boy with black hair and a scar under his eye.
Why does your dad have so many pictures of some girl you’ve never even heard of? This definitely feels like a secret, but you’re so confused about what you’re finding that you can’t bring yourself to feel like this is really a victory for you. You need to dig deeper.
Once again, you reach for another photo, one with three people in it this time. You instantly recognize Shanks and Uta, who you don’t know is the seemingly newborn baby in Shanks’ arms. His expression is nothing but soft and adoring, while Uta’s is a combination of curious but excited.
How many damn kids has your dad taken in and proceeded to just never mention ever?!
You flip over the picture to figure out who this one is supposed to be, but freeze up when you read it.
‘(Y/N) - Just got here!’
That’s… you? You and Uta were here at the same time, but you’re just now finding out about her? What the hell is going on?
Frantically, you unceremoniously dump out the rest of the contents of the box. You’re desperate to find answers, anything that could explain why your dad has this top secret box dedicated to whoever this Uta girl is.
A picture that stands out to you is one of Uta helping the baby- you- stand. You’re a little older here, roughly a year old it would seem. A quick glance at the back confirms your guess as correct, and that Uta is seven. She’s six years older than you. Since you no longer have the squished face of a baby just welcomed into the world, your features are actually recognizable. This is definitely you and not just some other kid named (Y/N).
The mystery unraveling in front of you is so engrossing that you’re deaf to the world around you. That is, until the door to the room is thrown open. Your heart leaps into your throat. Oh shit! Why is he back so soon?! You scramble to quickly but quietly pile your findings back into their box.
“(Y/N), I got you something in-” Shanks voice falls flat and stops abruptly in the middle of the sentence. No, no, no! How does he know something is wrong already?!
You didn’t close the dresser.
Before you can even begin to think of what to do next, Shanks drops whatever he was holding and closes the distance between you two and rips the curtain to the side. All you can do is shrink in on yourself and gawk at his furious expression.
The second his eyes land on the box in your hands, he snatches it into his own. He stomps away and slams it onto the dresser while hastily rifling through it. He hasn’t said a damn thing to you since the realization of what you did.
Damage control, you need to do damage control, and fast. You move to stand, and utter out a quiet, “Dad?”
“Sit. Down,” his tone was sharp and left zero room for argument. He’s never spoken to you so coldly, even during your worst arguments.
All you wanted was to have a chance to explore the town, and now look where that has gotten you. This was a stupid mistake. Shanks and his crew were all you had, and now you’ve made a huge problem of yourself. What would happen to you if he decided you weren’t worth the hassle anymore?
You couldn’t help it. Between all the previous confusion mixed with his harsh treatment broke the dam and tears started to pour down your face. You sniffle loudly while furiously wiping at your face, and force out, “I-I’m sorry.”
With your head being in your hands, and your eyes clouded with tears, you have no hope of being able to gauge his reaction. Or see if he even cares enough to pay you any mind. Probably not, not when he’s this mad at you.
Your bed dips from the weight of Shanks sitting down next to you. Without hesitation, you latch onto him, burying your face in his coat while sobbing out apologies. Anything to make him stop being so upset with you. Much to your relief, his arm came around your back and held you to him.
“It’s… fine. I wish you wouldn’t have done that, but it’s nothing to cry about,” his voice was strained, but held the warmth that had been previously absent.
Even with that, you needed time to calm down. While your dad being annoyed with your attitude was hardly a new occurrence, him being genuinely upset was. Frankly, you didn’t know how to deal with this, and you were still terrified about how much damage your actions just did.
Shanks didn’t say anything else, instead choosing to sit in silence with you. You couldn’t decide if that made things better or worse. Actually, you could decide. The lack of words was absolutely worse, but you didn’t know what to say right now either.
“Yassop told me you tried to sneak off the ship. Again.”
Nevermind. You wish to go back to silence. All you did in response was bury your face deeper into his coat while mumbling a quick ‘sorry’ for your actions. You were going to dump out that snitch’s booze stash later.
His chest heaved with the sigh he let out, and his hand came up to pat your head, “I know that you don’t like this, I understand that, but sometimes you have to do things you don’t like.” There was a pause, but when you didn’t respond, he continued, “It’s for your own good. The world is a dangerous place.”
“But… But you’re an emperor. You’re the Red Haired Shanks. What’s the worst that could happen if we just go for a walk in town?” As far as you’re concerned, there’s no threat that your dad can’t handle, not to mention the rest of his crew. Even if someone is stupid enough to try something, they’ll deal with it.
He chuckled, but it was humorless, empty, “Just because I’m an emperor doesn’t mean that bad things won’t still happen. That bad things haven’t already happened.”
“Where is Uta?”
Bringing her up was risky, you knew that, but you need answers. You need to get to the bottom of why Shanks is like this, and this is the closest you feel that you’ve ever come to finding out.
Shanks became rigid at the mention of her name. The hand on your head was now squeezing, bordering on painful from how tight it was. You tried to wiggle away but couldn’t break his hold.
“She’s gone.”
“She died?!” While you didn’t know what to expect, it certainly wasn’t that.
“No!” Shanks' hand dropped down onto your shoulder and wrenched you away from him. His eyes were wide and wild, “She’s not dead!”
You visibly recoiled from him, you can’t remember a time you’ve ever heard him yell. Once again, you can feel your eyes start to water and your lip tremble. God, what you wouldn’t give for this whole interaction to just be over already. Or for it to have simply never happened in the first place.
His face fell, and he looked away from you with a grimace. Mercifully, his grip had relaxed a bit and no longer felt like a vice on you. “Uta is alive and well, she just isn’t here. Not anymore.”
“Why not? Where is she?” You had more questions with every answer he gave, this wasn’t making any sense. What could have happened to result in her not being here? He wouldn’t just… abandon her. Would he?
“Because I wasn’t able to protect her,” his voice was so quiet that if you were any further away from him you wouldn’t have heard him. “She needed to be left in someone else’s care for her own good. I wasn’t able to keep her safe, and that’s something that I will never let happen again. Not with you.”
“But what happened? I don’t understand,” you felt like you were simultaneously getting closer and also further from the truth. Nothing about this was making sense. There was a bigger story here, but he was seemingly hellbent on keeping his answers to you vague.
“You don’t need to understand, you’re just a child. Do both of us a favor and forget about what you saw and what’s been said,” Shanks got to his feet, moving to leave not only the conversation, but also the room entirely.
You launched yourself off the bed and grabbed onto his arm, “Wait! You can’t just tell me to forget about this! I want answers!” You weren’t about to let him get out of this discussion so easily.
“Well, (Y/N), sometimes you don’t always get what you want. We’re done talking about this,” the way he spoke to you was slightly condescending. He turned to face you and crouched down to be at eye level, “How about you take a nap? Seems like you need one.”
You were getting on his nerves, that was a given, but you couldn’t up and let this go. Scoffing, you crossed your arms and glared at him, “I don’t need a nap, I’m not a baby.”
Shanks smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes, “Could’ve fooled me with the way you’re acting today.”
As much as you wanted to yell and be mad about what he just said, your mind went blank. You felt dizzy and like you couldn’t remember how to control your body. A second later, you stumbled and crashed into Shanks who caught you with ease.
Haki. He used Haki on you.
Distantly, you registered being lifted off the ground. Your head was pounding and felt like it was packed with cotton to the point of bursting. A few steps later, you were dropped on a bed. You’re so out of it that you can’t even tell if it’s yours or his.
An attempt was made to say something, anything, but your tongue refused to cooperate. All you could do was stare up at the blurring form of Shanks helplessly, wondering why he would go to such an extreme over you asking a few questions.
The last thing you remember is a blanket being pulled over you before everything fades to black as you’re forcibly thrown into a restless sleep.

Hello I love your writing! I had an idea of a scenario that would be the teenager (13 years old) reader ends up connecting with something and ends up having a seizure (like Kiri in Avatar 2) and all of the crew are worried it could do with the Straw Hats, Whitebeard's crew, Shanks and Law please!
—Strawhats, Whitebeard Pirates, Shanks & Law x teen!reader (platonic)
—Summary: you have a strange blackout, despite not feeling anything wrong with you, your friends care about you
—Warnings: none
You swing the shopping bags so they wouldn't hit your legs again, trying to catch up with Sanji who was a few steps ahead of you. You had offered to help him with errands and here you were carrying more bags than you should have because there was no way you were going to make more than one trip to carry everything.
You felt your fingers go numb for a few seconds, your vision blurred and you fainted out of nowhere, the sound of your body hitting the ground alarmed the blonde. He let everything he was carrying fall to the ground to attend to you immediately, panicking when he saw that you only trembled and didn't react to his voice.
He carefully carried you running towards the ship, it was so loud that he woke Zoro up, though he didn't start a fight because he heard Sanji's desperate voice calling for Chopper.
"I need help over here!"
Everyone got anxious at the cook's explanation as they waited for Chopper to come out of the room where he was checking that everything was okay.
Nami and Robin had interrupted their coffee and gossip session, Luffy was pounding on the door impatiently while Jinbe was trying to push him away, Franky, Usopp and Brook diverted their slight concern with small talk.
You didn't wake up until a few hours later, pacing the deck as if nothing had happened.
"Stop right now!"
You fell backwards, Luffy's arms wrapping around your body.
"Uff- Luffy, you're crushing me."
"What the hell are you doing!?"
Nami hit him immediately making him let go, Usopp helped you up, patting you on the shoulder.
"What's happening? You look at me as if I had grown a third eye."
"You do not remeber anything? That could be troublesome! what should I do!?" the poor reindeer began to murmur "Rest! You need to rest, one day at least."
"But I don't feel sick."
"Doctor's orders, you have to comply."
Zoro gave you a little push with a sly smile, you rolled your eyes.
"You're not the best person to talk about it..."
You were running after Ace because he had stolen your food, until your body felt weak and you fell to the ground. Ace laughed thinking that you had stumbled because it wasn't the first time you've stumbled while trying to catch up. However he became concerned when you didn't react, picking you up when he got close to do one of your 'surprise attacks'.
"Come on, get up, it's not funny..."
His hands began to sweat when he saw that your body began to convulse, he held you in his arms to keep you firm and not hit yourself.
"Shit, shit, shit… Marco!? Where is Marco!?"
Several of the guys that were out there started looking for the doctor, luckily he was on the ship, although Whitebeard was out since you just arrived a few hours ago.
"What happened-yoi?"
Marco started to ask what had happened while Ace answered him, the blonde doing a quick check, he didn't find anything unusual so he let you rest while he went to report to Whitebeard. In that short time Izo stayed by your side to watch if you woke up or not since Ace needed to calm down, he wouldn't help being tense.
You woke up a while later, Izo smiled at you as he offered you a glass of water.
"I don't notice any discomfort, maybe it was a heat stroke?"
You swore and swore that you didn't feel any pain or discomfort when Marco came to ask, even though your vital signs were stable, Whitebeard didn't let you leave the ship for a couple of days or at least be accompanied in case it happen again.
"I can't risk someone young not receiving proper medical treatment, your health is more important than that of an old man like me."
You nodded at your father's words, despite the fact that you respect him a lot, you were still a teenager and you will probably end up running away, you need a little privacy and nothing has happened to you again, you would be fine on your own sometimes.
You went looking for Shanks because you should disembark now, but knowing him he would surely be drinking in the town bar, you actually found him there.
"I invite one more round! come on kid, you can order whatever you want, as long as it's non-alcoholic."
"I don't want anything, the ship is going to set sail without you, again..."
"Oh come on, come on, don't worry so much and enjoy the night!"
You sighed, shaking your head, there was no point, you had already tried to take him back, if he didn't want to it wasn't your problem, after all he is a Yonko and he knows how to take care of himself. You decided to get out of there, however, before you could go out the door, your body vanished from one moment to the next. Your body hit the ground at the same time as Shanks's beer mug, he ran towards you trying to make you react, his screams cut through the jovial atmosphere in just seconds, the customers being intimidated by the redhead's intense gaze.
"I need a doctor, someone get a doctor!"
The urgency in his voice, his posture, his gaze... no one could just ignore his presence and keep drinking, some people even fainted from the power in his voice, a brave little man ventured to your side, his palms sweating as he was inspecting you before Shanks's eyes.
It didn't take long for you to come to, confused by the situation, despite clarifying that you felt fine, besides the fact that the doctor didn't find anything serious at first sight, it was enough for your captain.
"We'll go immediately to find the best doctor in the whole world, don't worry."
"Maybe you're exaggerating a bit... there are a lot of people who faint from some discomfort, and I don't feel bad right now"
"No, you need to go to the doctor a couple more times to make sure it's not due to a disease."
"Okay, can I at least walk on my own?"
"No."
He held your body like you were a bag, you sighed looking up at the starry sky, hoping you wouldn't be treated like glass because of a little accident, you were in the crew of a yonko for a reason, despite being young you were strong enough.
It was quite late when both of you were playing cards, Law's bad habits got mixed up with yours, even though he always scolded you because you were still too young to mess up your sleep schedule, you just ignored him.
"I won again!"
"I'm sure you're cheating."
"Of course not, who do you take me for?"
You laughed at Law's scowl, moving the cards you had hidden, he dealt again, you looked at your cards, planning your next play, though before you could put the card on the table a big puncture to your head caused you to pass out, Law put his hand between the table and your head so you wouldn't hit it.
Immediately laying you on the floor, checking your breathing and pulse instantly, clicking his tongue as he saw you have little convulsions, he put you in a better position so you wouldn't hurt yourself with your little spasms, waiting for them to subside. He used his power to check you out as quickly as possible, getting frustrated that he couldn't find anything that was causing your current situation. He decided that for now it was better to let you rest since you had stopped moving.
You woke up the next day, verifying on your own that you had no discomfort, since you did not feel any pain or discomfort, you simply got up from the patient's bed. You were very hungry so you went to have breakfast with the others. No one was alarmed because no one knew what happened to you last night so they were surprised when they saw you disappear, in your seat a pen instead of you, they shrugged their shoulders thinking that Law was going to scold you for one of your pranks.
"No one has given you permission to get out of bed, I still need to check that it's nothing serious."
"I don't feel bad, maybe it was tiredness."
"I'm not sure, that's why I need you to stay in bed and not make too much physical effort."
"But-"
"No buts, now, did you feel something strange yesterday?"
"Now that you mention it..."
You lay on the bed, answering all the questions your captain asked you, you knew you had nowhere to run when he went all 'father' and doctor, ignoring him would only make the situation worse, so you hoped it was just a little accident and not worse, but you would have Law on top of you every day to take your medicine if you had to.

Harlequin Hearts: The Archivist's Swordsmaster Affair Chapter One
//////////THIS IS ONLY ON TUMBLR, UNDER ACEANDURMOM////////////
Buggy was now an Emperor of the Sea.
Fuck.
Now how the hell were you supposed to do your job in peace!?
It was already hard enough to keep every one of his records, maps, diary entries, accounts, and logs in order. Now he was going to be up your ass about more shit that you didn’t get paid enough to do. Groaning, you threw your hands up in defeat. The news had been released only a few hours ago, but already the cheering and jarring from above you was sign enough everyone knew of the development. There was no way you could keep up with even more of his bizarre requests.
Though you may complain and grumble about the man frequently, Captain Buggy was a wonder. He was kind, saving the freaks from whatever failed them in their past life, giving them a new place to thrive after doing so. He had saved you from an ass of a boss, constantly on you about whatever you had failed to do in his eyes.
Buggy had gone through your work, all the organization and records you kept tidy. He had been impressed, thrilled even while watching you work.
After freeing you from your dick of a boss, he had opened his arms wide. And who were you to refuse such a grand gesture?
–
It had been weeks since the reveal, and it was just now starting to return to normal on the Big Top.
You had gone up to the Captain’s office, needing to ask a question. Knocking softly, you announced your presence.
“Captain Buggy? I have a quick question, sir.”
Leaning in to try to hear a response, you heard none. Figuring he wasn’t in at the moment, you had stepped away.
Only to hear soft curses echo from the other side. Fearing that something had gone wrong as you had never heard your captain in such low spirits, you had rushed to the door. Fumbling around in your pockets, you tried to scavenge for the master key the Captain had provided for you. He had trusted you as one of the more responsible on the ship, so if you ever needed to ask or do something, he had given you access to every room available on the ship. Finding the small thing, you deftly unlocked the door and bursted in the room.
In front of your wide eyes, there was a beast of a man looming over top of your boss.
Buggy was in tears, bleeding from all the scrapes and cuts littering his skin. His left eye was busted, already darkening in a rather large bruise. His detached head was held firmly in the larger man’s hand.
Face turning to see his identity, you stiffened before snarling.
Sir Crocodile, former Warlord that had only just recently escaped from Impel Down. Turning his head, he saw your face.
“And what are you doing with a face like that, little one.”
He was angry, eyebrows furrowed and annoyed at the interruption.
You were not faring much better, rage building up in your chest.
“And what the fuck do you think your doing to my Captain, sir?”
Teeth bared, you moved so that your back not once faced him. You went to your captain’s side, cradling his body there.
“Surely you know better than to simply attack a newly named Emperor of the Sea, I thought you smarter than that.”
“Your mouth will get you in trouble.”
Buggy laughed, elbowing you hard in the side. Grunting, you just ignored the warning.
“And so will your arrogance, Sir.”
“Clown, get your little whore in line before I put their mouth to use myself.”
Buggy’s eyes flashed. It was fine if others attacked and mocked him, but not the crew he cared for so much. The ones he thought of as family and cared for as such.
“Watch what you say, Croccy, that’s my Archivist you're speaking to. They are not some measly whore.”
Eyebrow raised in thought, the large man dropped Buggy’s head. Confused, the clown swiftly reattached it before watching in horror as he directed his sights on you.
His hook pointed at your chest, pushing you lightly.
“So you're the one in charge of the clown’s accounts?”
Nodding, you confirmed the fact. Eyes narrowed, the reptile leaned in further.
“Then you're the reason the clown is in trouble now.”
“I beg your pardon? I have every loan, purchase, payment logged in that room up there-”
Pointing up, you continued.
“There is nothing that I have missed. It is literally impossible for me to miss any tidbit of information or unpaid debt. My eyes are enhanced by my Devil Fruit, the Read-Read Frit, and you will do well to remember that.”
Hatred colored your voice, not at all phased by the mounting rage in his eyes. Nor were you aware of a sweating Buggy lingering behind you.
“I, uh…”
Both heads whipped to the stuttering clown, Crocodile annoyed and you just as much. Here you were trying to save his ass and he was stuttering in front of a rival. You tried to shut him up, but despite the fearful facade, he was determined to do right by you.
“I hide the records of my loan from Croccy.”
Mouth dropping, you tried to see if the man was lying. Silent, you rose to your feet and turned your whole body to the man.
“You mean to tell me.”
Pausing, you tried to calm yourself by taking a deep breath. Pointing to yourself, you reiterated the importance of you being here.
“You hid one of the records concerning a large amount of money you owed a former warlord and just…..DIDN’T TELL ME!?”
Growling, you launched yourself at your beloved captain. Hands covering his neck, you tried to choke the ever loving shit of him.
Crocodile pinched the bridge of his nose, not at all pleased with what he was hearing.
“Not only that, dear Archivist, but this crew of yours has someone named him the Chairman of the Cross Guild. The Guild including Buggy, Mihawk, and I that is going to be used to palace bounties on Marines.”
Freezing, you glanced back at the imposing figure lingering behind you. Cocking a brow you leaned in further to the blue haired one under you.
“First you were named an Emperor, now you're the Chairman of an organization that will inevitably bring the entirety of the Navy down upon us?”
Deflating, you released the Captain. Leaning back on your hands, you stared at the ceiling, trying to comprehend the situation you found yourself in. Hand laying over your eyes, you spoke to the man you adored like a brother.
“When were you going to inform me of this, Captain? I would have loved to help you or assist if you allowed me to do so.”
Shifting, the clown had the decency to look flustered.
“I didn’t think it would get this unruly, Star, apologies.”
“Apology accepted.”
Standing, you brushed off your knees and faced the other man in the room who had waited so patiently.
“Apologies. I’m the Archivist of the Buggy Pirates and I will extend my services to both you and Mihawk as I know you two have none. Leave a list of tasks for me to accomplish once we land on Karai Bari and I will have them done in ample time.”
Crocodile looked at you strangely for a moment before huffing. Reaching into his breast pocket, he plucked a cigar and tucked it into his mouth. Breathing in, he retrieved his lighter and lit it. Puffing slightly, he withdrew the stick from his mouth before offering you a puff. Seeing no reason to deny, you accepted. Huffing a few times, you gave him back his cigar. Holding in the smoke for a minute, you tried to steady your thinking before releasing the breath.
Reaching a hand out, you offered to shake his hand.
An offer he accepted.
“It’ll be a pleasure to work with you, Archivist.”
Nodding, you reciprocated.
“And you, Sir.”
Smug, the reptile smirked at Buggy before dissipating into sand and leaving the office.
Still, you tried to make sense of what had just happened. Buggy approached from behind, hand gently holding your shoulder before he laid his head on your other.
“I truly hoped not to get you involved, Star. I know how easily you get stressed, I’m sure this was the last thing you wanted to happen.”
He was so quiet, voice bordering on silence as he whispered his sincere apology to you. You deflated, any ounce of anger or irritation leaving. You only nodded, leaning your head on top of his, seeking his comfort even if only for a second.
“I trust you, Captain. I will follow you until the end of the GrandLine.”
He smiled, soft.
“I know.”
–
There was once a time where you would have been appalled at the situation you now found yourself in.
Posture perfect, outfit coordinating with your captain, you stood proud beside him as the rest of the crew scrambled to anchor down the Big Top. The two of you were elbow to elbow, seeking out the other’s presence to ground each other. As the ship was finally bound to the Island, the two of you watched as the Strongest Swordsman appeared with Crocodile on the shore. Nodding to the other two men, Buggy took your arm and assisted you down and onto solid land.
Turning, you bowed to the two and introduced yourself, Crocodile was going to have to sit through it again even if he didn’t want to, you wanted to make a good impression on the raven haired man in front of you.
“Greetings, I am the Big Top’s Archivist. I am offering the two of you my services seeing as neither of you have archivists of your own. My work is done perfectly as I have the Read Read Fruit. Nothing escapes me and it takes me nearly no time at all to read through documents. If you wish for my assistance, simply ask or hand a list off to my Captain. He will ensure it reaches me.”
Crocodile nodded, already hearing the spiel once before. Granted, you had been pissed at the time. Now, you were calm and collected, already knowing what you were to say in front of them.
The reptile chuckled quietly.
“Odd to have you so cool, the last time I heard that you were trying to rip my head off with your eyes.”
Coughing, you blushed.
“Yes, that was a poor choice on my part. I sincerely apologize for that entire situation. Had I known the truth I assure you I would not have reacted as such.”
He waved you off, answering swiftly.
“Nonsense. It was refreshing to see someone stand up for their captain, regardless of who was in the wrong. Your loyalty was proven to me, and I intend on keeping you to that standard.”
Nodding, you tried to ignore the praise freely given by the man. You thanked him before returning to the Swordsman. Raising a brow, you wondered what he would say to you, if he would even need an archivist at his disposal.
The stoic man locked eyes on your own. Stifling a shiver, you tried to ignore being undressed by the man’s intense gaze. You wanted to bare everything to him, no secret left unsaid or rock unturned.
“I accept your proposal. I have a few logs I need organized.”
It was simple, straight to the point.
God, was he attractive.
Clearing his throat, Buggy stepped in front of you, trying to hide you away from the opposing men.
Posturing proudly, the clown announced his presence and reveled in the attention he received. Glancing back at you, he was glad to find that you relaxed even a little bit, now no longer the intense eyes of either man.
Walking along the path, Buggy attached himself to your side, leading the three of you down to the main tent he had established years ago.
“Welcome to Karai Bari, boys! This is the home island of yours truly! I will have your tents erected in a few days max, if you would like anything specifically feel free to request away, my workers are the best this side of the GrandLine!”
You had been to the island a few times in the past. Buggy was fond of the place, taking the freaks he had saved here when they did not desire to become pirates. They established themselves here, safe from prying eyes and other pirate crews. No one really bothered with the place, not aware that they were under the protection of a, now, Emperor of the Sea.
Buggy provided for them in any way he could, assisting them with their livelihood whenever asked. It was another one of the reasons you respected him so much.
The former Warlords simply observed the sight around them, taking note of everything occurring. They had walked through the markets, everyone in a stall and street stopping to wave or greet the clown enthusiastically. The blue haired man smiled back, not once refusing a hug or handshake from any of the villagers.
“It seems you are well liked here, Clown.”
Hawkeye observed casually.
“Captain himself takes care of those who live here under his protection. He knows everyone here and what they do on the island, their role in society. Their names, parents, and children, or even pets are known to him. He is a kind man.”
You responded, not once shying away from their prying eyes. You wanted to prove that Buggy was a good man, a reliable one. If all it took was hyping him up with genuine compliments, then you would do so gladly.
“How long have you sailed with him, Archiver?”
The reptile asked this time, though it looked as if the Swordsman was curious as well.
“Hmm.”
Humming, you thought on your answer.
“I have sailed with Captain since I was 16, he saved me from a former Boss of mine.”
“How old are you now then?”
You raised a finger to your lips, winking at the duo.
“I’ll keep that a secret for now. It is not wise to divulge too much information about myself, now is it?”
Crocodile looked to want to pry, but a look from Buggy had him keeping quiet. Normally, it would not deter him, but…
To be fair, you were his Archivist first. You had only offered your services to the two of them in response to your captain’s poor decisions.
Crocodile was curious of you, of how a man such as the Clown could acquire such a level headed person on his crew. Let alone one that wanted to work on his crew and stand proudly by his side.
Dracule Mihawk was puzzled by you. Someone so put together was willingly standing beside Buggy the Clown without a hint of regret or unease radiating off of you. Not to mention you were a sight for sore eyes, not that he would admit it, of course.
!End of Teaser!
The trio of important men stood around awkwardly in Buggy’s quarters. None of them willing to back down from the schlong measuring competition.
You decided to be the bigger person.
Clearing your throat, you addressed the room.
“Right. Now, what is it that you all wish to accomplish together as the Cross Guild. Surely there are predetermined goals you three have agreed on, yes?”
Circling around them, you made it to the desk under the window. Slipping into the chair, you rummaged through the desk drawers. Finding a slightly yellowed notepad, you reached for the fountain pen in your breast pocket. Uncapping the tool, you went to start writing down their thoughts. Hearing no words enter the space, you looked up over your reading glasses at the trio. Hands gesturing to them, you waved them on. Making eye contact with the reptile, you sighed.
“No??? Nothing? “
Exasperated, you leaned back in the rolling chair.
“So you mean to tell me you set up this little club so that three grown men with powerful status such as yourselves are together for playdates, then?”
Buggy laughed, quickly stifling it once the other two shot glares at him. Crocodile huffed, glaring at the clown before turning back to you.
“We discussed this earlier-”
“Yes, yes, I know of putting bounties on the Navy, but are there any other goals you wish to achieve? Anything specific?”
Hawkeye watched as you grew more and more frustrated at their lack of response. He had to admit, he knew where you were coming from. From what he had observed, you were a pen on paper kind of person, one who desired even the minor details. Having written down or any other explicit goal was doing more than annoy you. Having come kind of mercy, the Swordsman went to open his mouth before the clown stepped in. The Clown was glaring at him from the corner of his eye, feeling very much territorial over his Archivist.
Arms thrown in a reassuring gesture, the Clown approached you with a kind smile.
“Of course I have a plan for all of us, my Star! I wouldn’t join this little crew without a proper plan in place!”
Skeptical, the other two men watched as he tried to calm your ever burning rage. Lifting yourself so that you were bent over the desk, you reached a hand out and grasped the man’s ruffled collar. Getting in his face, you stared into his eyes, trying to detect any hint of a lie.
“Then spill it, Captain. And it better not be some impromptu bullshit that you spout to try to get yourself out of the mess you created and dragged me into.”
Pointer finger straight up, the man corrected you.
“Technically, you joined of your own free will-”
Jerking him closer to you, you pressed your nose into his own.
“You say that as if any Nakama of yours wouldn’t die, kill, or endure hell on earth for you, idiot. If you get involved in something, the rest of us are going down with you, jackass.”
Releasing him, you lightly pushed him away before taking up the pen once again.
“Alright then, go on.”
Sweating and crossing his fingers behind his back, the Clown shook away the nervousness. Shooting a look to the other two men, the man smiled, trying to encourage them to go along with whatever he was about to pull out of his ass.
“I have a plan.”
“Yes, we’ve established this.”
“To take Red Haired Shanks out of the race for the One Piece.”
Silence took over the room, a shock taking over everyone involved.
Sputtering, you tried to understand what was being said to you.
You knew that your Captain adored the man. The two had been Cabin Boys under Gol D. Roger before. They were lovers, ever since they were children. To this day Buggy regularly contacted the ginger man, uttering praise and endearment. To hear him say such a thing….
Unless he knew something the other two didn’t.
Like if the man never planned to pursue the treasure in the first place.
Finally clicking in place, you looked back up to the man you saw as a brother. Nodding, you offered a look of understanding.
“Okay.”
Uttering the acknowledgement, you let the pen write out the goal, effortlessly gliding across the paper. The ink took hold, permanently marking the tarnished paper underneath.
“With this, I attest that the Cross Guild, made up of Former Warlord and King of Alabasta Sir Crocodile-”
Pointing to the man, you continued before gesturing to the other.
“Dracule Mihawk, the Strongest Swordsman in the World and Former Warlord-”
And then to your beloved Captain.
“And Chairman Buggy D. Star Clown, one of the Four Emperors of the Sea, will bring down the Navy and remove Chief Akagami Shanks, another of the Emperors of the Sea, from the race to the One Piece. This, I do declare a witness of the Sea.”
A shudder swept through the room, a stillness taking over even the Ocean outside.
Buggy nodded, already knowing what you had planned from the start.
Mihawk was confused, what exactly just happened?
The reptile seemed to have the same question, going to approach you and ask you personally, he was stopped by a disembodied hand.
“I recommend you don’t take another step. They’re still in the process of solidifying a few details of the contract.”
“What contract, Clown?”
Mihawk had asked, but his tone had not matched Crocodile’s. While Crocodile said ‘clown’ as a kind of insult, Mihawk said the word as his title. It was what he called Buggy, not with his nose upturned, but simply as his name. It endeared you to him, more so than whatever you felt to the failed Conqueror.
“To put it simply, they are writing up a contract with the Ocean itself. Whatever they write with that pen, it is law, not just a promise or a goal. You know of the Read Read Fruit, but there are other abilities that the Fruit allows them to possess.”
“It will do you well to explain them while you’re ahead, clown.”
Buggy paused, trying to think about a good way to explain his Archivist to his new allies.
“You, see, the Read Read Fruit isn’t just about reading through logs or records incredibly fast and being able to process it. It also allows them to write an oath into existence, one that must be met by all parties mentioned. If not, then there are consequences for not doing so. Of course, there are a few other things my little Star can do, but that would be giving away all our tricks too early.”
A wicked grin split across the captain’s face, a knowing glint hidden in his light blue eyes.
This duo was already starting to prove to be more than either Warlord expected.
“So this Devil Fruit they ate, how long have they had it?”
Crocodile questioned, enamored by the seemingly endless possibilities this Fruit seemed to have. Who knows what all they could swear to the Sea-
A knowing glare made its way to the Clown, already he was starting to see how this cold blooded fool failed to conquer Alabasta. He was cunning, yes, but he made himself too obvious. Anyone within a 50 mile radius knew what he was wanting to do.
“Nice try, Croc, but you aren’t making my Archivist do anything they don’t want to do. Not under my watch.”
“Need I remind you who I am-”
Turning to face him, Buggy’s eyes hardened, resolve never burning away.
“It will do you well to remember that I am no mere pirate captain from the East Blue. I am a former member of the Roger Pirates, Emperor of the Sea, and control one of the largest networks across the GrandLine.”
Not stopping there, the clown slowly stepped into the man’s area.
“It will do you well not to forget it, Lizard.”
Spite clear in his tone, Crocodile was taken aback by the sudden change.
Throwing one last glare to the taller man, Buggy swiveled back to his dear sibling.
Clapping his hands, Buggy threw back on his charming smile.
“Star! Are you about done?”
It took a few more moments, but you finished.
Capping the pen, you threw one last glance over the document before you dipped your head to Captain.
“Aye, sir, it’s done. Bound by my blood and the Sea itself.”
Grimacing a little, Buggy forgot how the contract was to be officialized.
Mihawk perked up, not at all expecting words from your mouth. Curious, he surveyed your hands that were currently placing the pen back to its place in your pocket. Your hands were smaller than his, not that that was what caught him off guard, instead it was the gaping wound in the center of your palm. Without thinking, the hawk approached soundlessly. Grasping your hand in his, he rolled your wrist to get a better look at it. From the looks of it, you had stabbed about half the pen’s length into your hand, intrigued, he continued to observe.
“Do tell me, how exactly does this binding contract of yours work?”
Letting your hand lay where it was, cradled in between his own, you tried to explain.
“It is my blood that solidifies the contract, it is what the pen writes in. Without it, the paper is just that- a paper. There is nothing tying you to the words written on it otherwise.”
“That is how your Fruit works in this regard, then?”
“Yes.”
“I see.”
Finally realizing he had been holding your hand for so long, Mihawk relieved you of his presence. A little glum, you accepted the motion.
Seeing the interaction, Buggy pouted.
“STaArrRRRar, let me help you wrap it uuuppppp, your pretty skin needs to be cared for!!!”
Beaming at the childish behavior, you couldn’t help but chuckle at the man child.
“Of course. Let me-”
“Allow me.”
Mihawk cut in, hand grasping your own and twirling you into his embrace. Flustered, you had floundered a bit before finding your feet. Placing a hand over your waist, Dracule steadied you. Holding out his arm, the man spoke.
“If I may?”
Peering into his eyes, you attempted to discern his intentions. Only to find nothing but pure honesty there.
“If that is your desire.”
Buggy whined louder than before. If that was even possible. Hand chopping at the base of his wrist, he tugged you towards him. Unknowingly dragging Mihawk behind you as well. When the two of you crashed into the Clown, he had flailed before falling on his ass.
Dracule, ever the gentleman, reached out and clutched at your hand. Only for it to be the one you injured just minutes past. Eyes widened a fraction, the man apologized before switching his hand.
“My apologies, I did not mean to further harm you.”
“Nonsense, it was not you intention.”
Crocodile watched the whole thing with a grimace, cringing from the entire situation.
This was his life now.
–
Buggy had managed to pull you away from the other two in record time, insting you accompany him to his room so that he may bandage your palm.
He had sat you down on his bed, leaving momentarily to grab the first aid kit under his bathroom counter. Popping the box open, he kneeled down in front of you. Reaching out, he offered his open hand for you to place yours.
Accepting his request, you laid your hand over his own.
Tentatively, he plucked a pair of tweezers up and held your hand steady. Selecting a cotton ball, he dowsed it in the bedside whiskey he always had readily available. Delicately, he tapped the soaked cloth onto your wound. Hissing, you softly cursed at the man. He smiled at you, too happy to help to scold you at this very second.
“I wish you didn’t go so deep.”
“It is not as if I have not done worse.”
You had caught him off guard. Trying not to laugh at the dark humor, he had stifle the grin.
“I still wish you the same. No matter if you have had worse or no, you do not deserve it.”
“If it gets Hawkeyes to hold my hand like that then I will continue to do so.”
You playfully retorted.
Stiffening, Buggy ignored the comment. Lightly, you kicked his stomach.
In response, the Captain pressed harder with the alcohol.
“Oh, fuck! Fuck you!”
Finally losing it, you watched as your brother started to cackle wildly.
Dear Nika, you loved the idiot.
“Oh shut up, don’t act as if I forgot the little stunt you pulled today. Shanks will be furious with you.”
Sobering from his earlier fit, Buggy eyed you from under his Captain’s hat.
“I’ll tell you a little secret.”
Leaning in, Buggy made to whisper in your ear. As soon as he turned to you, he clenched your hand tightly, causing you to yelp, before wrapping it rather efficiently with a bandage.
“Shanks never intended to go after the One Piece, Star.”
Trying to whisper as lowly as him, as you knew he did not want anyone else to know, you responded.
“I assumed so. You felt rather confident earlier.”
“I can say with 100% certainty that his plans will not change once I inform him of such.”
“I hope you’re right about this, Captain. People change after all.”
“He has been by my side since day one, not once has he left me by myself or out of the loop. He has never not told me about what he was thinking or planning. Star, please, trust me on this.”
Peeling away from each other, you peered down at your Captain. Your brother in all but blood.
“Alright.”
Brightening, he grinned, teeth bared.
“Thank you, Star.”
“Under one condition.”
Deflating, he groaned.
“I knew it. It was too easy.”
“Oh stop your bitching, sir. I only had a quick ask.”
Eyebrows shooting up, he leaned into you.
“Of course, ask away! You never ask for anything! Tell me, tell me, tell me!!!”
Now embarrassed, you wondered if it was wise to ask such a thing from him. Surely he was going to make it a bigger deal than needed.
“I…now I’m embarrassed!”
Hands covering your face, you tried to peel the captain away from your knees. Whining, he only clutched at you tighter.
“Nooooooo, you have to tell me now!”
“Fine…give me a second…”
Respecting your wishes, Buggy only hugged your knees to his chest. Eyes closed, he waited fro you to respond.
You murmured out the ask.
Squinting, Buggy responded.
“Huh? Speak up, dumbass.”
Huffing, you crossed your arms.
“I asked if I could call you my brother, asshat. Now I don’t-”
Unsuspecting, you reeled back at the dramatic gasp and cry of the man next to you. Launching himself up and on top of you, he only held you tight against his chest. Ugly sobbing, the man snotted all over your nice ass shirt.
“O-O-O-OF COURSEE!!!”
Continuing his sobbing, you lay dealing with the consequences of your actions. Exhaling, you pat his back, comforting him in his obvious time of need.
“There, there, Captain.”
“DO YOU REALLY THINK OF ME AS A BROTHER!?”
Playfully knocking him aside the head, you giggled at the foolish man.
“Yes, Captain, I have for a while now.”
Cradling his head, you hugged him dearly.
“You have been the reason I get up in the mornings for years now. I cannot thank you enough for being my rock.”
Sniffing wetly, the clown nodded fervently.
“Brother! Call me brother, idiot! I will not allow you to call me anything else, no more captain or sir!”
“...that’s a little much. I can’t not call you sir, sir. It’s instilled in me.”
“Only in front of others, then!”
“I’ll work on it.”
“Good! Now.”
Questiongly, you looked down at the man.
Hand coming up, but still hugging you, the Clown removed his hat, letting loose the absolute mane of hair underneath. Eyes sparkling, you couldn’t help but comb through it with your fingers.
“Your hair is gorgeous, sir.”
“Brother. But, I know….I can help you with yours if you wish?”
Blinking, you tried to comprehend the offer.
Only to accept, shouting excitedly at the prospect.
Buggy watched you.
Happy.
His little Star was happy now. Genuine happiness and not that pretend shit you used to do in front of everyone.
He was so proud of you.
His Archivist.
His Star.
–
The morning sun offended you, dearly so. Practically screaming at you, the sun roused you from your sleep. Blearily blinking open your eyes, you tried to take in your unfamiliar surroundings.
Only to look down and see Buggy’s face pressed against your side, still asleep.
The night before flashed in your mind, heat raising and taking its place along your cheeks.
It had been a while since you had been so embarrassed. But, it was nice being vulnerable for once.
Finding yourself enjoying your position, you were incredibly reluctant to get up and go do actual work.
At least, until your mind flickered to the two former Warlords more than likely already up and about creating mass chaos.
Smoothing down the clown’s hair, you slowly detached yourself from the man before climbing out of bed.
God, you worked too hard sometimes.

Red Burning Stars (Platonic)
Y’all asked for Shanks you have received. Since everyone was asking for him I decided to make his part of Determination it’s own thing. I’m thinking of doing something like this for other characters as well
Also Uta is canon in this cause I really like her and I said so
Hope y’all pick up a bit on my foreshadowing of shit. It’ll eventually be explained (not now tho cause I’m evil muhahahahhahaha)
Part 1 Part 2
Tagged: @peachsuka28 @emptynessinmyworld @badluckinfrench @j-s-l-m @tigerfang-rage @madokamagicaa @rymtea
From the moment that you had stepped aboard the Oro Jackson shanks had knew he wanted to be friends with you
It was an instantaneous affect
One that deepened and got worse the moment he locked eyes with you across the large ship
Your calm and kind eyes connecting with his own
He felt as if in that moment time had froze, it was just him and you on that ship alone
A tugging feeling in his very soul calling out to him
Telling him to approach
To say something to this stranger that had somehow caught his attention in a way no other had ever done
It’s an odd feeling to look back on in retrospect since he’d never felt it again or with anyone else
Especially considering he’d heard some typically describe what he felt as something akin to a romantic connection with someone
Hell, when he had explained the phenomenon to Reyleigh the first mate had assumed it was a crush until Shanks repeatedly told him it wasn’t like that
But no, he knew from the start it wasn’t a silly crush or love outside of that of platonic
It was more like…a calling from something greater than him saying that the two of you were meant to be allies
Telling him that the two of you were meant to meet
Meant to befriend one another
Like fire and gunpowder
Or a sailor and the sea
Two forces that are meant to be combined together
Naturally creating something new in the process
He doesn’t understand it now and sure as hell didn’t as a kid
But back then he didn’t question it much
Not when he was Solely focussed on that feeling
That call from the universe guiding him towards you through the crowds of men
Past Buggy who’s yelling at him for leaving all of a sudden from whatever they were doing before you were invited aboard
He felt like he was being pulled on a lead
Mindlessly following without a single thought in his head other than he had to meet you
Had to do something at least
And when he stumbles his way into Rogers office as you sat down on a cushioned chair
Turning around to meet his brown eyes once again
Shanks feels a wide smile stretch across his face as if it were rubber
“I’m Shanks! Wanna be friends!?” It stumbles out his mouth excitedly as does his jagged breaths. He whips out his hand, outstretched towards you as you stare at it for a moment in surprise. A bit of worry coats his face, shit he probably came off to strong-
Suddenly he feels your hand in his, gently shaking it. “Sure, I’m y/n by the way”. He nods, his smile getting wider. “Do you usually forget to ask for people’s names when you try to befriend them?”
“Nope, only you so far”
“I must be special then”
The entire time as that happened Roger watched on with a large grin
Practically kicking his feet beneath his desk out of enthusiasm
Despite being a grown man his captain was able to match his and Buggy’s childlike spirit
It’s perhaps because of that he was able to understand the connection the most
Not chocking it up to a crush or puppy love
It was something more akin to Nakama
Something the pirate king had felt when meeting some of his crew
He just knew they had to be friends
To be apart of his crew
Admittedly it take awhile for Buggy to warm up to you compared to Shanks’s instantaneous pace
But eventually the three of you fall into a comforting balance of personality
Whilst he and Buggy are rambunctious and rather impulsive your the opponent
Your a calm force, you think before you do and help them find a solution with more opportunities
If your combined force together is a hurricane then your the eye of it
The calm within the storm
It’s what the rest of the crew begin to affectionately call your trio
Even Roger begins to use it when referring to you all
Much to Buggy’s displeasure
He doesn’t mind though, unlike his friend shanks finds amusement in the nickname
One that he thinks actually fits the three of you quite nicely
Meanwhile you don’t think much of it
Instead just thinking of it as a the crew poking some light fun
Speaking of your role in the trio
You make sure neither of them get killed
Usually cause of both Buggy’s and his stupid plans of playing pranks or stealing more food from the kitchen instead of just asking
Both of which become much more successful that they aren’t arguing over said plan and screwing up
Now their Fort is stocked with cheese and as many sweets they could plunder
So much so that the cooks are now on edge as someone sets up a diversion for the other two to strike
It’s fun
A whole lot of fun that he realizes up until now you had seemingly missed
Admittedly he nor Buggy know much about you
Hell, none of the crew besides seemingly their captain knows anything
But honestly he’s fine with that
Their not entitled to that knowledge unless you deem them so
All that he’s focused on is the moment
The fun times he shared with you and Buggy
Nights spent out atop the crows nest looking up towards the stars
You explain that each has a story behind them all
Every island and their cultures have given them stories and formed differences constellations
It’s fascinating to him
Perhaps not Buggy who opts to go to bed
But as you both sit there, legs kicking back and forth while sitting on the ledge
It leaves him listening with eager ears
Engraining the new knowledge into his mind
It’s not just constellations that he listens about, it’s basically anything that you talk about
The others besides Rayleigh and Roger no one seems to notice how much you’d be seen despite your age
It’s odd but he notices
Especially as you sometimes mumble about how much you missed acting like a kid
Acting your age
It worries him
But he focuses on making you happy
Showing you the wonders of the life here
Stealing more food
Playing tag with Roger who can’t help but join much to everyone’s amusement
Outings on islands you sometimes recognize that usually end with the three of you raiding an ice cream shop
Sharing the spoils of stealing toys gotten from a few stores he might’ve yoinked them from
Times where he and Buggy protectively would start fights when other pirates at bats would try to pick on you
Roger would always laugh, calling them big brothers and mother hens
But of them would deny it even if they both knew deep down they saw you as a younger sibling
And that you did the same likewise
It was something unspoken but there that they all unconsciously and silently acknowledged
It came naturally as well
The two of them fretting over you when you got too close to the edge of the ship or did something reckless enough that even he and Buggy thought it was too dangerous
And that’s saying something
Their both really worried about that
You put your safety behind others
And whilst that might be fine in some cases in yours it’s dangerous
Really dangerous
There had been times he narrowly saved your life without you even knowing
A wild animal sneaking up from the brush
An enemy pirate almost swinging his sword at your neck
It bothers everyone on the crew how many close calls there were
Almost unnaturally so
But it makes him on edge even more when his captain has a look in his eye
One of unspoken sorrow and worry
Roger was a man who ran head first into danger
Someone who never considered the consequences before diving into the lions den
Never showing fear or hesitation for his actions
Only doing so when it came to the safety of his crew
And even then he knew they would be fine
They all had each other to rely on
But that look in his eyes directed towards you was something he’d never seen
Buggy tries to ease Shanks’s worried in his own…Buggy way
While he appreciates the effort not much can ease the tension in his shoulders
Roger never looked that worried
And that init of itself was scary
And it’s even more so when it’s directed at someone Shanks had dearly cared for
Rogers death comes as quick and painful as a shot to the chest
Burning white hot pain encompassing his entire form
Buggy and him got into a fight and when their separate ways
The crew disbanded
No one but Roger knows where you disappeared off to
He just said you were doing him a favour and like a whisper in the wind you were gone
Almost as if you were never there to begin with
The memories and small mementos show you were there though
Not a figment of his imagination
Not a cruel mirage
You were real, he knows that
Yet everything feels like a blur
Grief tinges his vision and mind like a filter over his perception of the world
For a long while he’s hopeless
Wishing and hoping to find someone
To perhaps find you once more
To find stability again
His dream lost and shattered
His life is very much the same
Yet after a long while he rebuilt himself
Began building his own crew
Finding and making stability once more as he sailed the seas both you and Roger loved with a whole heart
Many a nights he spends drinking and partying but occasionally finding a quiet corner for a moment
Staring up towards the night sky you taught him about
He always pours one out for the dead and lost of his former crew
A sign of respect for the people he might not meet again yet wishes to reunite with one day
In death or in life it doesn’t matter to him
Just one day meeting once more
You included
Though you had never formally joined the crew everyone had accepted you there with open hearts
Him definitely included
God he hopes your alright
That despite your terrible track record of danger and lack of self awareness you were alive
You’d be quite grown up by now
Maybe you found an island and settled down
He doubts that thought
You were much too like Roger and him
Souls called and nurtured by the sea and thrill of adventure
Never leaving her waves until possibly being drowned in her salty cold embrace
But that’s what makes him think that perhaps you hadn’t though
That perhaps instead you had died
The thought leaves him sick
So much so that when it happens he braces himself again the railing
Fingernails digging into the wood as his Haki flairs up
Seeping from his form and through the cracks of his cheery facade
Ben always notices
Pulling him back to the party and into his normal self
Handing him a fresh pint of beer with a knowing look
Shanks always gives him a thankful nod
Then going back to drinking with his crew
His first mate already knows of his history
Of why he’s wracked with grief and when no one’s looking stares off at the night sky
He’s never confused when Shanks returns to the party with an empty bottle yet doesn’t seem any drunker
Lucky and Yassop sometimes notice but don’t push him nor Ben on the topic
It’s better that way
Shanks would rather not air out old dusty laundry of his past anyways
Especially not when he had to keep morale up
Cause if his crew saw he was down in the dumps they’d follow suite
Caring too much about his sake to back down in doing something
It’s admirable
It reminds him of the good old days of the Oro Jackson
The way in which the crew would cheer you up when you were lost in thought
A glazed look of sorrow over your eyes they all desperately wanted to wash away
Because you were a kid
Because you were a friend
Because you were a part of their Nakama
Because you were his little sibling
No blood was shared between either of your veins yet the kinship of family was there anyways
He misses it
He misses a lot of things from the past but that’s one thing he especially longs for
Even if for just a moment he’d like to see you smile once more
Perhaps even hug you again and let himself cry
….yeah that sounded nice
Rumours on the sea spread fast and wide but are always dubious in nature and reality
It’s something you learn quick whilst on the seas
Especially when your as seasoned as he was in that retrospect
He’s spent his entire life on some sort of boat
being found by Roger in a treasure chest and being taken in by the entire crew
He was quite literally raised by the seas
It’s why when he hears rumours of a travelling child on the ocean going from place to place it doesn’t initially make him hopeful
It in fact makes him kinda melancholy
He can’t help it, not when he still wonders about you
Maybe that was your kid or something, he wouldn’t be surprised
But either way that wasn’t his business
Or at least that’s what he tells himself despite keeping an extra eye out for any small raft on the sea
A small desperate part of himself clinging to some sort of hope
That maybe it somehow was you despite the fact you’d be a grown adult
That after all this time of wondering and praying to whatever god had listened you were alive somehow
That the child more precious than any treasure he befriend all those years ago who he cared for as if they were his sibling was still out there
While at piers he tries to find what he’d imagined to be your grown up face in the crowds
Tries to find the rickety old dingy you called your loyal stead
And comes up empty handed as the whispers of the child on the raft continue to spill into his ears
At this point it’s either pointless fodder or a plain lie that leaves him disappointed
Ben pats his back as takes a sip of his drink, guzzling it down with ease as his men party around him
….and then someone enters the bar
He doesn’t care to turn around, not when he’s in a sour mood
Doesn’t care to bat an eye to the newcomer who sits themself down next to him on the only other empty barstool on account that no one wanted to be near a grumpy drunk emperor
Yet this either brave of foolish soul dares to do so
He’ll give them that, they either have balls of steel or a death wish since he really isn’t in the mood for bullshit right now-
“Huh?, what happened to Rogers hat? Did you give it away or something?”
Shanks goes still as the sound of your very familiar voice enters through his ears
He goes ridged and his emperors Haki lashes out
A few men drop to the floor as the attention turns to him and the small figure who sits looking up at him
Shanks slowly turns and faces someone he had missed for a long time now
There you sat
As young as ever, looking like you haven’t aged a day despite the fact it’s been well over a decade and now nearing a second decade
You still have Rogers coat but now it’s adorned with several trinkets and charms along with the fact you seemed to have gained more souvenirs from other pirate friends (much to his chagrin)
Your eyes are still innocent yet have the spark of something ancient in them
Chubby cheeks pulled up into a look of confusion at his agape reaction
He accidentally spits the beer out his mouth into Ben’s face
His right hand man can’t even seem to be mad when your looking up at the red haired man with a small grin at his expression
“Never thought you’d waste beer like that. Not when you’d beg Rayleigh and then sneak a sip from the mugs of people passed out”
Not even a word after that can come out your mouth before your in his arms
This feels unreal to him
Like a cruel dream he’s gonna wake up from
He’s preparing himself for it yet it doesn’t seem to happen
Your still in his arms
Your still you
He’s still him
His crew is watching gobsmacked and confused as tears begin to like his eyes
Him, red haired Shanks crying for the first time in years let alone at some small bar with a random kid he’s hugging
Maybe they think he’s so drunk that he’s imagining you as Uta or Luffy
But no
Your you
And perhaps that’s the one thing that makes this feel like some sort of fever Dream
He’ll give his captain credit where it’s due, he could’ve never imagined Roger keeping a secret let alone several important ones
Though Shank supposed that Roger was a man of his word, he’d rather cut off an arm rather than go back on a promise he made
And that extended to keeping something a secret
But he had to admit of all possibilities as to why you haven’t aged a single day this was the one he dreaded the most
He was hoping for some mad science experiment or just a weird devil fruit
But this was much worse
Immortality
Many people want it, but like a monkeys paw every blessing comes with a curse
And you had seen the extents of what it could bring to not only you but those you had gotten close to
The mental horror of watching someone you were close to die not knowing they would appear across the world moments later
And then having to grapple with the fact they had traumatized that person now with the possibility of meeting them again in the future
It sounded torturous
But it also now explained the fact as to why you were already hardened to the sea back then
Already seeing it’s worse storms and foes
It’s why your eyes despite their innocence are hallowed out, empty of life sometimes as you stared out towards the sea you loved
Why they always seemed older than what you looked
It’s cause you were technically older, just stuck physically and mentally as a child
One who had braved the seas for both its treasures and tortures
Content in wanting to explore and see all that could be seen, experience everything there was
It is fascinating as it is horrifying
He can’t imagine what you had been through up till now
Who you had met on your journeys
that explains why you’d always tell cryptic stories about people you’ve met that now looking back sound suspiciously like big mom and Kaido
Speaking of which that probably means their trying to look for you still
….god this did not turn out to be what he expected nor wanted
He takes a sip of his beer as his crew can’t also help but be exasperated from how nonchalant you are about all of this
As if dying repeatedly isn’t a big deal
Nor is meeting future emperors and Yonko’s who were definitely affected by your time with them
If he hears that you befriended Doflamingo or something then he’s officially done
With all these things coming to light though he can’t help the small grin that made its way onto his face
You weren’t exactly ok (at least mentally speaking) but you were alive
The greatest blessing that came with your immortality was that you were alive
He can’t help but continue to hold you close
You don’t mind, you had seemingly missed his presence over the years
Even if your time on his ship will be but a blip in your long life he knows you’ll remember it
You have that feeling as well
Every night with them is a party of sorts
Shanks had always been one who enjoyed a festival’s atmosphere so it’s no surprise that each night with his crew is an experience
They drink, laugh and dance with one another
Singing songs familiar to you and your years at sea
Even one that they now realize was made for you
The undying star in the sky that leads sailors to wonders untold
A spark of determination lit in their souls when the star moves across the sky to a new horizon
A lot of old stories and rumours at sea make sense now on the fact that your probably connected to them
But what’s perhaps the most funny thing about all that is the world government knows about you but doesn’t have a clear enough picture to try and pursue you
Photos are always blurry or downright incomprehensible, descriptions are muddied and vary
The people who met you refuse to tell even a pep of what you looked like
They can imagine it’s driving them mad
Especially Sengoku who has been tasked to find you for years now
And for a time you were right under his nose without even knowing
They all get a good cackle out of that
Imagining the old man’s face when he does eventually realize
It would probably take a big public event for that to happen though
Something you’d probably inevitably crash for whatever reason
So until then your relatively safe from marine pursuit
But even when that does inevitably happen you’ll have a good portion of the pirating world at your side
Him and his crew included
Like all those years ago on the Oro Jackson you work your ways into the crews hearts
A relatively quick process that somehow happens with everyone you meet
Yet it’s something that has yielded you much more power than you know of
Hell, your probably the most safe person on the sea not accounting your devil fruit ability on account of somehow getting on everyone’s good sides
How you did this he and his crew don’t know but it’s certainly something their suspecting is due to your devil fruit
Or you just have some uncanny ability in literally having the power of friendship or something
Either way their not writing it off as other just quite yet
Not when their all too caught up in your stories or insisting on teaching you blackjack
You don’t tell them you already know how to play, especially since you use that to win their desserts
Shanks just laughs, especially as they all sulk at “being beaten by a kid” momentarily forgetting your older than all of them
Whilst Shanks is both happy and ecstatic of finding you again he can’t help but feel melancholy
He swears he sees his old crew mates while lucky Rox and Yassop toss you around like a hot potato
His mind playing tricks as Ben messes up your hair just as Rayleigh did
Whenever this happens you seem to know
Always ending up at his side, going to a quiet part of the ship for a moment of peace where he can breath
In its there you both truly talk
You both catch up with what’s happened over the years
After the crew disbanded he was aimless
The fight with buggy
Him raising Uta with his crew before eventually leaving her for her own safety despite the fact it still kills him on the inside
The young boy who ate a fruit he was transporting for the world government, the reason why he doesn’t have Rogers hat anymore and why he’s missing an arm
It’s all a lot to process
Yet it’s even more when you tell him what’s happened on your end
The other pirates you’d met, the marines, becoming and dying as a slave
The pain
The loss
Everything
He can’t help but just sit there for a few solid minutes
Processing everything
And then comes the guilt
Tears
If he had tried harder to find you none of that would’ve happened
If he had done better
If he-
Your small hands shake him from his stupor as you place them gently on his tear stained cheeks
Here he was, an emperor crying as a child comforted him
Yet as he does it feels natural
Like back when he had a nightmare when he was a young teen and you talked with him to help distract from it all
The times that despite being your self appointed “older brother” he’d rely on you for advice
He crumbles in your gentle hands yet he does not care
Because when shanks is with you he knows he’s not the cabin boy of the Oro Jackson
He’s not red haired Shanks, the fierce-some emperor of the sea
He’s not shanks, the bastard child of some celestial dragon who was abandoned at birth in a treasure chest
He’s not the father who left his daughter out of both love and fear for her safety and wellbeing
He’s not the party animal who’s constantly drunk despite his power
To you Shanks is just Shanks
The man encompassed by the colour red
Rage
Stress
Love
Passion
And most importantly of all Determination
For once in a very long while he feels the stress fall from his shoulders
As much as he loves his crew and the sea he feels a heavy burden of responsibility on his chest out of love for them
But like a switch it melts away
He feels a bit guilty that he’s the one crying when your the one who went through so much pain
But when he sees your gentle smile he knows you don’t mind
A soft look of ‘its ok’ and ‘you can cry’
And so he does
So much so that his eyes turn red from irritation
It’s inevitable that you leave
He knows that when it comes to you yet he can’t help but feel sad
And notice something slightly different this time around
When on the Oro Jackson you’d leave from time to time
Staying for good portions of times before leaving for awhile and somehow always making your way back
You never once hesitated to leave
Back then they had all accepted it
Knowing you’d come back eventually, so much so that they’d plan parties in advance
But now as you prepare to leave it’s different
Your tired
It’s easy for him to tell since he’s known you for a good portion of time
Though your smile is as good as a mask as ever he sees the cracks
The way you don’t look at the sea like the way you once did
He can’t blame you
But it worries him
A part of him wants to offer you a place here permanently but that in some sense would be cruel
He can’t will himself to take advantage of your exhaustion to essentially trap you here
The sea is meant to be a place of freedom and would not shackle you like others once did
He won’t guilt you into this when he knows you’d stay out of guilt
He may be selfish but he isn’t selfish enough to do that
Not when all he wants is for you to be happy
So he prepares to let go
Knowing you’d meet again
But not before he throws you the biggest party they’ve had in a long while
Stacks of food are prepared
So many Desserts to the point big mom would have to stop and take a break from eating
Enough booze to create a running river
Streamers and confetti decorating the ship in all the colours of the rainbow
Songs sung loudly as the few who knew how to play instruments strummed away
Mihawk even showing up much to his surprise because he apparently already met you once before
Not surprised at that fact but Moreso on how that stubborn asshole gives you a small well made sword
One obviously custom made and designed for you with it’s whole star design
Neither of you elaborate how you both met
Both giving each other a silent stare before turning to him with shit eating grins saying that “that story is for another day”
It leaves his a bit huffy but he’s secretly happy that it seems the two of you are both well acquainted
Even more so that you finally have something to defend yourself with for once
God knows the amount of times he and buggy had tried to convince you to bring some sort of weapon only for them to say you’d be fine and then save you at the last minute from being stabbed
It seems Mihawk shared this same sentiment since he nearly jumps out of his skin when you start mock sword fighting with Ben and his second hand man gets the death eye of the century
It’s good though, especially as you sing with the crowd of drunks who are either happily joining in for the party or sadly joining in remembering this is a goodbye party
Your hoisted and thrown playfully in the air screaming the lyrics of shanties
Given a few sips of alcohol behind Ben’s and Mihawk’s backs (Shanks is guilty of this as well)
At some point someone decides fireworks are a good idea and almost set the ship on fire
It all works out though as sparks scatter in the sky
Fluttering down until fizzling out
All the while you watch on from the crows nest beside him
Everyone else down below watching and dancing
Mihawk nearby enjoying the lively atmosphere
It’s nice
Yet as he wishes for this moment can last forever he knows it can’t
The reminder of this is when you begin to speak once mor e
Shattering the silence he wishes to keep as to have the moment last longer
To not be reminded of the imminent departure from his ship that this entire party is about
Your words aren’t that bad yet it fills him with solace
You tell him you’ll keep your eye out for a kid in a straw hat
It’s probably inevitable you run into Luffy at some point
Knowing him you’ll probably even join him on some grand adventure
The kid Is a supernova waiting to happen and you seem to have an affinity for finding them
You also promise to check up on Uta for him if your given the chance
Meeting her when she was only a baby when he had found her in a treasure chest just as Roger had with him
For the first few months of her life you helped him raise her
The young toddler even eventually naming you her Auncle
The whole crew got a laugh out of that
As did he
But now as you say that it just reminders him you’ll be leaving again
He doesn’t have the courage to look you in the eyes until he looks up at the stars
They burn brightly in the sky
Golden light thousands of miles away yet still brilliant in their glow
And it’s there looking at those stars he’s reminded of the day you climbed aboard the Oro Jackson
The spark of determination in him to be your friend
…..determination
He remembers now why he had felt that calling all those years ago
The world government had been vague in why the fruit you ate was so important
Naturally Shanks attributed that to the nature of immortality that came with it
But it seems there was more to it than meets the eye
Whenever you had met someone you ended up being a catalyst to their determination towards something
And perhaps that was more powerful that immortality itself
Being the spark that can change someone’s entire life course
It’s no wonder why they wanted this fruit
One that would most definitely play into enlisting more powerful forces and lighting the fuse to their souls that would have them walk to the ends of the earth to accomplish it
It’s like with the gum-gum fruit that they had him try to deliver
But now thinking about it perhaps that one as well has some sort of other purpose they needed it for
Not if he has any say in it though
Shanks is a selfish pirate at heart and nothing comes between him and protecting his treasures
Whether that be a boy in a straw hat, a girl with half white and red hair or a child always floating at sea with stars in their eyes
He will fight tooth and nail to keep them safe
Cause selfishness is something taught to him by his captain
Protect what you love no matter the cost
Protect their freedom and your own,
Be determined to take the stand in liberation
Red is the colour of his hair and it encompasses his soul
Shanks’s hands are dyed that colour as well; the colour of blood and love.
He will continue to stain it that colour to protect what he’s passionate about with vigorous anger if the world government so much breaths in any of their directions

– Shanks & Buggy & Reader with the 2° or 3°genre, prompt (e.) ✨
Oh this pairing has so much potential, but I like it being platonic. Switches up the vibe a little. You've given me a little too much power with that choice, but I think the end here manages both..
Content/Warnings: Shanks & GN!Reader & Buggy, hurt/comfort, hurt/no comfort, childhood friends, background character death, arguing, yelling, end of friendships
You, Buggy and Shanks had been friends for as long as you could remember. Your first few years had been rough, or at least everyone assumed so considering you'd been picked up by the Roger pirates as a three year old after Shanks of a similar age had identified you and wanted to play with you. A year later had come Buggy, and on the Oro Jackson the three of you were raised to be pirates. Shanks was always the strongest of the three of you, while Buggy was the most sensitive, and you were the smartest. Between the three of you, you would've made a brilliant pirate crew.
Would've. That was the key word. Past tense.
Roger had been executed, and the skies had opened up to scream their protests. Rain poured down over the three of you as you trudged through Loguetown and away from the execution platform. You couldn't bare to look at it anymore. Shanks was up ahead, leading the way, while you followed, hand in hand with Buggy.
You paused near the docks, and you took a few steps away from the boys to look out at the sea. It wouldn't be the same without him. You'd wanted to stay with the crew until you were at least sixteen, but you'd not been with them in over six months and you were only fifteen. Shanks and Buggy were hardly older than you. You'd been abandoned.
Your ears perked up as you heard yelling. Buggy. You whipped around to look for the danger, and realised it was you in trouble - Buggy was yelling at Shanks. You rushed over to their sides, stood just between them, trying to figure out what had happened.
"He isn't going to go looking for the One Piece." Buggy muttered, and you could hear how betrayed he felt, and some part of you felt the same. You looked at Shanks with slightly widened eyes.
"Shanks.." you murmured, searching his face in hopes you could understand.
"We can all still sail together." Shanks offered, but the offer was lame, it fell flat. He didn't even sound confident about the offer.
"But that's our dream Shanks - the one piece." You replied, inching closer to Buggy. You hated to choose sides when they bickered, but you all knew a choice had already been made.
"I just.. I don't know. Maybe it isn't mine anymore." Shanks whispered, but he might as he might as well have screamed it. Not his dream anymore?
You took Buggy's hand in your own, and laced your fingers. Both of you needed the support.
"You know, most people only deal with one idiot. You pick a best friend, and you put up with them for life. I thought you two would be the death of me. But it looks like I'll be picking sides before that happens." You said to Shanks, and Buggy squeezed your hand to reassure and comfort you. You watched as Shanks took a single step back, scared and betrayed, then he spun and took off in a sprint, away from the two of you.
You and Buggy leaned heavily against each other, tears rolling anew down your faces, eyes already sore and cheeks red and splotchy. You thought you'd cried your share of tears already, but of course there was more. Buggy held you, and you held him in return. For a long time the two of you stood there in a tight embrace, crying and letting the rain wash away your tears.
"We'll start our own flashy crew." Buggy said, and you smiled despite the tears and just nodded, not trusting your own voice. Yeah, you didn't need Shanks.

Platonic Ace & Reader Imagine - Nooo! Not My Boy!
With Shanks x Reader
Part Two - Platonic ASL & Reader - Heal What Has Been Hurt
(Unfortunately Canonical Character Deaths, for this one) (The playlist I made to help write this)
You were running across the battlefield, dodging attacks from marines and pirates alike, refusing to listen to anyone, your crew mates and captain included. Nothing was more important than getting to your eldest boy, as tears steamed down your face with a pain in your heart, that you've never felt before and never wanted to again, as you refuse to knowledge the truth, even when the vivre card burned up in your hand.
Everything seem to slow down as you reached the spot where your boy was, laying on the ground with a smile on his face and a hole in his chest. A piercing heart-breaking scream ripe from your throat as you slid to your knees and pulled him to your arms and clenched him against your chest as you wailed, your boy, your Ace was gone.
Nothing else mattered to you in that moment, apart from holding Ace and praying to any gods that would listen to give you, your eldest boy back, he didn't deserve this fate simply because of who blood flowed in his veins.
Holding Ace in your arms all you could do is remember the first time you him met, along with Sabo and Luffy. He was only 10 but he standing at the front metal pipe in hand, demanding who you were, ready to protect his brothers. Another pain filled sob from you as you knew he had died protecting Luffy always being the big brother, and willing to do anything to protect him.
Upon that thought you lifted your head up as you looked around for Luffy, your youngest but not being able to see him, gave you both a mix of fear and relief, not knowing of his own injuries and fate.
As you stayed there on the ground cradling Ace, the war had come to an end, not that you paying attention to that. Soon you could a familiar voice speaking, but unsure of what they were saying as you paid no mind, until you were pulled away from Ace. You fought against the two arms that were wrapped around you, as you wailed, screamed and demanded to realised, that your boy needed you.
The arms didn't budged no matter what you did to try and get free, and soon everything just blurred around you as time seemed to go from nearly frozen to super sonic. Soon you found yourself back in your & Shanks shared cabin on the bed, and could hear activity all around the ship, meaning the crew was getting ready to leave.
The thought of the ship leaving, suddenly had you panicking irrationally, as all you thought was Ace was being left behind. As you rushed off the bed you tripped over your own feet and falling to your knees as another heart-breaking wailed came and a fresh wave of tears started to fall.
You could hear the door opening and close, making you looking up to be your red haired captain and lover.
Shanks got on to the floor in front of you and pulled you against his chest, as you gripped his shirt and sobbed into it, asking him to bring your boy, he was an emperor of the sea, he was powerful, so why couldn't he do it, all said between sobs.
All could he do in this moment was hold too you and let you cry, and said a few words of comfort, not that any of of them would make a different to you in that moment.
Some point, he was able to move you to the bed and sat with his back against the wall, and kept you against his chest your sobs turned to silent tears, with his chin resting on top of your head and arm wrapped around you.
You were unsure of how long Shanks had been holding you within the dark and quiet of the cabin, until a knock on the door made him release his hold on you, going to answer the door. A few words were spoken, before closing the door and pulling his cloak off, covering you with it as he placed a kiss on your forehead and said he would be back when he could.
Alone with your thought again, you clenched your fists into black cloak as you thought against more tears that threaten to fall, as you thought back to the last time you spoke to Ace. Wishing you had told him much you loved him and how proud of him you were but to stop the chase on Blackbeard, it was not his fault what happened even, even if he was the 2nd division commander and to listen to Whitebeard.
He's your stubborn boy and did what he wanted if someone wronged him or someone he cared about, you paused in your thought and correct yourself, he had been a stubborn boy and that thought that having to use past tense him to talk about him now, made the tears falls against as sobbed you in the pillow.
At some point you had stopped sobbing but tears were stilling falling down your cheek, as you just stared blankly at the wall in front of you, with the cloak wrapped around you.
When Shanks arrived back some time later, he brought some food and tried to get you to eat some but you had no appetite and he wasn't going force you. He was finally able to coax you into sleeping after a sometimes, he kept you tucked tightly against himself.
You dreamed of when you lived with the boys for over a year. That was one of the best time of your life, you hasn't planned to stay long, as you were just island hopping and seeing the world, but meeting boys and getting to know them, made you stay and you soon claimed them as your own.
You taught them how to steal and pickpocket better, as that how you got most of your money, but everything changed quickly into a nightmare as you remembered Sabo being shot and sunk by a Celestial Dragon, then you started running around looking for Ace and Luffy.
You were unable to find Luffy, but quickly found Ace but his clothes was covered in blood as he turned around to face you, there was a hole in his little chest making you scream, as you held him tightly and could hear him asking where you were.
A scream escaped your lips as you sat up awake, eyes wet, as you franticly search the room before it felt like the walls were closing in on you. Needing to get out of there quickly, you jumped from the bed and escaped the room, hearing your name being shouted but you didn't stop, it still felt like the walls were closing in.
Stepping out on to the deck, you were hit with cold wind and a night sky, making you stop as you stared at the stars, as another memory hits you, making you clasp a hand over your mouth to stop yourself from making more noise.
A warm body was soon stood behind you, already knowing it was Shanks, as he placed his hand over your heart and then you placed your free hand on his. Something you both did from time to time as a reminded to each other, when sometimes words weren't enough.
He tried to suggest going back to the cabin but a quickly shook your head, you didn't want to be in an enclosed space, so instead you made your way up to the quarterdeck and palm trees. Ever the dutiful lover, Shanks came you with and the two of you sat next two each other under the palm trees, staring at the stars.
It was just silence behind the two of you, even though you wanted to speak you couldn't find the word to starts. Lifting your hand up and traced some of the constellation, remembering how you taught both Ace and Luffy how to use some of the stars to work out what direction they were heading when on the sea and how happy they had been to learn about it.
That memory had tears falling again, as you finally broke the silence saying how unfair it was, Ace didn't ask to be Roger son, and because of that your boy was gone. You knew that Roger wasn't what the government painted him, you heard from stories from everyone who knew him, mainly Shanks, but some small part of you wanted to hate the man but you just couldn't.
Shanks moved you around so that you were sitting in between his legs again and back against his chest. He then asked you for some stories you had with the boys. You thought for a few moments, as you couldn't remember what one you had told him before.
Then one of your favourite come up and so you began to tell him about it.
It was winter on Mt Colubo and it was in the minus numbers with thick snow, it wasn't the thickest you had been but was for Luffy and Ace, and it stayed that like for over a week.
You had made sure that they were both wrapped up warm before they went outside, and you had then began to make some homemade ice skate. It took you about day/day and half to make them. They were very simple version so that they could just fit over their own shoes. You gifted them to the boy in evening and then the following day you take them out to the lake, that was still completely frozen over.
You made sure that the ice was thickness by stepping on to the ice first and skating over the lake a few times to double check it was safe. Once you back on the side of the lake, you helped them with their skates and then helped them on to the ice.
When you showed them how to skate, you started with Luffy and held his hands as you got him on his ice and pulled him along, as you tell him how to skate. Once you were sure Luffy was good on his own for now, you went back to Ace and held a hand to out to him but said he didn't need help and got on the ice himself.
You let him do what he wanted, and it only took a few minutes as he fell for the first, and you chuckled as offered to help him but again said no. For the rest of the afternoon you watched and skated around boys, causing them both to fall a couple of times, but from every fall Ace did learn how to skate, even if he was covered in quite a few bruises by the end.
He had been so stubborn with the need to prove that he could it without any help, and you had told him so many times he didn't need to learn how to do everything on his own anymore.
You could feel Shanks chuckle behind you, probably thinking about Luffy skating. That was good day cause it was one of the few times you got to see Ace just be child, even if he didn't want helping learning to skate, and then the following day when they went back you got to see the smile on his face as skated without falling over, a smile that made you so happy to see.
The rest of the night went by quickly as you told Shanks some other stories you had from living with them, The sky was changing to orange and pinks, as the sun began to rise and there was sound of movements coming from below as the crew began to wake. Shanks was soon standing and pulling you with him, as he steered you back down to the cabin.
He left you on the bed with a quick kiss as he went grab some breakfast for you. The thought of seeing the look that the crew would give makes you want to hide away for days. You knew they wouldn't say or hold anything against you for your reaction but still you would able to see it in the faces.
While alone you finally changed your clothes, getting out of the bloody clothes and threw them in the corner of the cabin, hoping that out of sight out of mind would help. You were doing your best to hold back the tears as you got into clean clothes, knowing that your eyes didn't need to be anymore red or sore.
When your red hair lover returned with a plate of food, he place it in your hands and sat a cup down near you. Looking at the food and thought of eating still made your stomach churn but you knew not eating would just make you feel sick and make Shanks worry more, so you just nibbled on different bits, but as he said nothing you took it as a sign he wasn't going to press the matter.
When finished with breakfast, you thought about sleeping but you were unsure if you wanted to sleep alone after last night, so when you asked Shanks, he told you he had a few things to do but would come nap later on with you.
He did come back as promised in the afternoon and the two of napped for a couple hours, with Shanks having a tight hold on you. Over the next couple days he was busier than normal but you stayed hidden below deck, normally in the laundry room, and were thankful that you didn't see many people, just some of the senior crew.
Alone again as your lover was dealing with something with Whitebeard crew, so you tried to busy your mind by tidying the up the cabin, apart from where you threw your clothes days before, and probably needed thrown out now. At some point during the tidying you found a small box that you had forgotten about and saw that it held a wooden circle with a happy face craved into it.
Happy face that you were all to well.
Seeing the little craved face stare up at you, as it was the last thing that Ace had given you with a promise to make a matching sad face and knowing that wouldn't happen now, something in you snapped, as your all anger poured out, destroying everything you got your hands on.
You promised Ace & Luffy that you would always there for them when needed, no matter where you were would come to help them, but you had failed your boys, you broke that promise and Ace had paid the highest price.
You would of given your life if it meant they would of gotten away alive, instead the Red Force werre off stopping Kaido. As soon as you heard of Ace execution you should of left and done anything in your power to get to Marineford, but all that failure on your part just fuelled your anger even more, as you never felt more useless than now.
When there was nothing else to destroy, you curled up in a ball in the middle of the cabin, clenching the wooden piece in your hands against your chest, begging once again through tears for your boy to be given back to you.
At some point you just ended up starung at one of the wall, in an almost catatonic state, as you were unresponsive to anything, from the knocks on door, voice speaking to you, to being touched and moved around and to then placed on the bed as the cuts you gained were treated. Not a single sound left you as you just stared at the wall.
It was a few hours later when Shanks returned to the cabin, to check up on you and there still seem to be no difference. Sighing softly to himself, he sat by your side and looked at your clenched hands.
Carefully taking hold of your hands, he gently removed your fingers from around what you were holding.
The feeling of someone trying to take your wooden craving, had you lashing you, snapping you of your unresponsive state and doing your best to keep hold it. However you were quickly pinned down on the bed, by Shanks using his full weight to keep you down.
When he was able to get the item out of yours hands, he placed it on side table out of your reach for now before looking down at you with concerned written over his face, as he cupped your cheek watching as a few tears fell.
He then starting to spoke to you softly, he knows that your hurting a lot and he's not telling you to how to grieve, as everyone does it differently, but he needs you to come get him, Beck or any of the senior crew, when you start to feel angry or want to rage/fight, cause there will more time when it happens and he wants to be there for you, so you wouldn't hurt yourself again.
Listening to what your lover said had more tears falling as his love for you, especially the last few days, truly showed through and wondered what you did to deserve him. He then shushed you and wrapped you tears, not they stopped any.
After a few minutes Shanks sat up and moved off of you, which allowed for you to see sit up, and see the damaged you did to room and started to feel guilty for it. You apologized for it but he just quickly shushed then kissed your forehead, as he sat against the wall and pulled you to his chest, a familiar position between you two over these last days.
While leaning against him, Shanks asked you to tell him of how the both you met. You were taken back by that and confused by it, and asked why he wanted to hear, he knew that how it went he was there. He didn't elaborate and just asked again.
Even if it did confuse you, you began to re-tell him both the two of you met.
It had been over 6 months since you left Ace and Luffy, and was currently on a island that you couldn't remember the name right now. You had been there a few days now, just enjoying yourself, when you heard whispers that a pirate ship had docked and ever curious you went to see what crew it was.
You notice the jolly roger had two red lines over the left eyes, and something told you knew who it was but couldn't place for some reason.
You could whine and knew he was pouting behind you, as you said you couldn't remember who's crew it.
You spent the rest of the afternoon trying to wreak your brain for any information that could help identify the crew but still coming up blank, so you gave up on it for the time being and went to one of the local bar near the port. Upon entering you noticed it was busier than normal as you sat at the bar and ordered your drink, before turning around and looking around the bar, till your eyes landed on a few men off to the side, keeping your eyes mostly the one with bright red hair and three scars over his eyes.
That when it hit you, and felt like an idiot that it took you that long to recognise the crew. It was the Red Hair Pirates that was docked, and with how much Luffy had talked about them, you really felt stupid. You held your face in your left hand at how you forgot something important, you then sighed and took a long sip of your drink. You then stared at the back wall, as your tried to remember what Luffy had told you but all your brain was saying 'Pretty man' and nothing useful.
The shaking behind you, told you that he was containing his laugher, before he teased you about being a 'pretty man'. Paying no heed to him you continued on.
After finishing your drink, you decided that you were going have a early night, and left for your temporary lodging for the night. You planned to speak to Luffy in the morning and find out more about Red Hair Pirates, before seeing if befriending them is worth it.
The following morning you had grabbed your Den Den Mushi and called up the boys, having given both of them one before you left them, so they could always ring you. You were sure they should be up but they could be hunting or training, so all you could do it just wait and hoped one of them answer.
You were just about to end the call and try again later, when a tiny sleepy voice answered. You couldn't help but smile hearing Luffy voice and let him wake up a little more, before asking him questions about the Red Hair Pirate and their captain in particular.
Luffy spent good time talking about them, you could almost see the stars in his eyes as spoke. At some point Ace popped up and said hello before asking why you wanted to know about Red Hair Pirate, and you told him that you were making sure you'll survive your next game of cat & mouse.
You bid the boys goodbye and would promise to call them in the coming week and to have fun hunting, before ending the call after they said bye to you. With what Luffy had told you it was defiantly gonna be a fun night.
When early evening came, you made your way back to the bar and finding it was still quiet and claimed your preferred spot, at the end of the bar as allowed you see who was entering. While waiting for your unsuspected 'Victim' to arrive, you ordered some food and first drink of the night.
Hearing Shanks scoff behind you made you pause, as he whined about being called the victim, as he wasn't one hiding on the chase.
It was about hour before later when they arrived and you were on your second drink and watched them from the corner of your eyes, letting them settle and drink before beginning your game.
Once they seem to of had drunk enough you deemed suitable, you downed the rest of your drink, and made your way over with a smile on your lip and your eyes holding some excitement. The guys all cheered when you come over. You ignore the red haired captain for a moment as you turned your attention to First Mate.
You smiled at him, as you leant forward put your lips against his ear and begin whispering to him, offering him a bet, that if you were able to take something from his captain and not get caught until sunrise, you win and if you do get caught he wins, and placed the the bet of 25,000 berries.
You moved backward and looked at him waiting for his answer, he looked for at you a few second thinking it over and gave a nod and both shook hands on it. With that done you then sat on his leg as there wasn't any more chairs for you to sit in, and then turned your attention to the red hair man, smiling at him, as he asked what that was about.
You gave him a little wag of your finger and told him, that he would find out soon enough he just had to wait. You then began to chat to them all and get to know, plying them all with more drinks knowing they can handle their drinks.
At somepoint, your migrated from Becks leg and into Shanks lap, laughing with him and taking little sips from his drink, so you keep your thought as clear as possible. During that time you had managed to get to his cloak off without him noticing to you knowledge at least.
Starting to feel a buzz of excitement and knowing that sunrise wasn't far away, you decided that now was a good time leave. Knowing that he was fairly drunk, you distracted him by kissing him before grabbing the cloak and leaving the bar with your prize in hand.
Shanks gave a grumble, as he said he remembered that and the look that Beck gave him, after you had left.
You began making your through the street, keeping the cloak bundle in your arms, before starting to go down alleyways and take back streets, using your observation haki as you knew that Shanks wasn't someone to turn a blind eye to, even when drunk.
A grin appeared on your face as you ducked behind a little wall and quickly pulled the cloak on, to help blend into the darkness. Hearing the sounds of sandals on the ground you took a few more steps quietly backward till you out view, not that it would any difference.
You heard the red hair captain call out to you, suggesting you leave the cloak and it all be forgotten about. You however weren't about to lose the bet, and end the game of cat & mouse before it's began. You could feel that he was slightly annoyed but he was also excited and playful, with that you made your way on to the roof a building.
Being quiet and agile were what you excelled at, as stealing was how you made most of your money, so moving other the roofs silently as you could was nothing new, but this chase was getting fun as there are times when he cut off your route and you had to make a sudden change.
The whole time Shanks was calling out you terms of endearment such as Sweetheart and Darling mainly, but sometimes a throwing a couple of other ones there, even he tried to pspspsps you like a cat.
You were unware of how much time had passed, but you soon started to notice the changing of the sky, as sun rise was approaching and you started to form a plan in your head, but you need to get him further away from his ship, so that by the time you reached the ship sun would be up.
After a few very close class, you managed to get him further away and quickly took a moment to calm yourself, you couldn't lose now, not at the last hurdle. Giving yourself prep talk got that last bit of energy running through your body as you began heading back way to his ship, over roofs and through alleyways slipping just out of sight each time from him.
By the time you reach the docks you felt so tired, but it was pasted sunrise and you had won the bet. You waltzed up to the ship and spotted Beck on the docks smoking, probably waiting for his captain to return. Upon seeing you he exhaled and rubbed his eyes.
You just grinned at him and handed over the cloak to him before telling him you would back your winning later, as you were in dire need of sleep now. Just as you gave a yawn, you found yourself suddenly on the ground with a weight on top of you.
Slightly fazed for a moment, you tried to get out from there weight but it held you down easily, stopping you from moving as you felt lips next to your ears, as Shanks called you little mouse and that he caught you.
Upon hearing him saying that, you just chuckled and told him just because he caught him doesn't mean he won. Feeling his weight move of your back, you rolled over at him and grinned up at him, before telling him that you won a few berries from his first mate, cause he didn't catch you before the sunrise.
You watched as Shanks gave his first mate a pout as he asked why he didn't say anything about bet, he would of made sure to caught you if he knew. You gave a little giggle while watching him before asking how he could of been sure he would of caught of you.
He looked at you and grinned down at you, before saying you were good but he was better. You raised an eyebrow at him before standing up and dusting yourself off, then telling him sure he was, whatever he believed to helped him sleep at night.
Shanks narrowed his eyes with a playful smile on his lips, as the stepped closer, almost touching chest to chest, as he looked down and told you that he could catch you in 10 minutes and as he wouldn't be drunk this time.
A shiver went up your spine, at the challenging and thrill of playing another, more serious game of cat and mouse with him. You grinned back and said you been promised that before and let down. He leant down so you were face to face now and promised to give you a good chase.
You gave him playful smile but nothing said nothing else as you stepped around him and walked away, given both the captain and first mate a quick wave.
Finishing how you both met, you then asked him again why wanted to hear it, he knew it he was there or otherwise you would be concerned. Shanks pulled you closer as he said he wanted to hear you laugh and smile as well distracting you for a little while from your pain, then pressed a kissed in your hair.
Hearing him say that, know that he was doing it mainly for your benefit, made you feel once gain that you didn't to deserve him and fought back against the tears, as you turned around his hold snuggled further into his hold.
The last couple of days leading up to arriving near Sphinx, had you feeling more heartbroken and your eyes constantly red from how much you had cried and wiped your eyes free of tears, but you how could you not when your boy was was about to buried, and this would be the final place for Ace.
It just was another reminder that you wouldn't get to see him grow anymore, or hearing news of him causing chaos again or seeing him out on the sea.
You wouldn't get to lecturing him any more for how reckless he could be, with him just grinning and laughing at you, before you smack him with Haki when you came across him while out at sea, arms crossed over your chest as you narrowed your eyes at him, as he laughed.
It made you remember the time he came to find Shanks to thank him for saving Luffy as child.
You were huddled between Lucky Roo, Shanks and Beck, as you were still freezing and couldn't seem to get warm, even with body heat and a fire going.
There was noise coming from the cave entrance and but you tuned it out for the moment, as you rubbed your hands together and tried to bury yourself in Shanks back, that made him chuckle.
You weren't really listening to Shanks and the new comer exchanged some words, until hearing Shanks say Luffy and brother, which made your snapped up real quick and looked forward to the person at the front of the group.
Before anyone could say or do anything, you were in front of your eldest boy, holding Ace's face in your hands and could see slight red on his cheek, making his freckles stand out more. You took a step back from him and looked at him fully, he had grown up and became a handsome young man, which made you feel proud.
You then looked at his outfit and started lecturing him on on wearing clothes that were a weather appropriate, with your hands moving everywhere as you talked. There were a few chuckles from both group as you went on.
However Ace just laughed at you, and hugged you saying he didn't need to worry about that now, thanks to his devil fruit. While you could feel the heat radiating from him, you didn't back down from your lecture.
Once you were finished, you smiled at him and told him how happy you were to see him, as you sat back down in between Shanks and Beck, suddenly feeling a lot warmer than you had been.
That had been a good night, getting to see Ace after so long and seeing how far he had come, along with some stories of him and Luffy, neither had told you about.
Just before Ace and his crew departed from the cave, you had told him to call you more, but he just gave you a cheeky smile and said he'll try.
And thinking how he wouldn't get to Luffy become King of the Pirates and had nearly broken you, had it not been for the Beck and Hongo telling you that both Luffy brothers will be watching him and will see him became king of the pirates.
When came time to lay both Ace and Whitebeard, Shanks had kept you by his side, his hand on your back as comfort.
Standing in front of Ace grave and you told him, that you were going to spend the rest of your life missing him, in so many ways. That there will times when you miss him and you know that what it was and other times it will be an ache that creeps in.
You pause before placing a kiss on your finger and place it on his name before finishing off with saying until the end of time you were going to miss him forever, that he will always be your eldest boy and promised him that you would do everything in your power to make sure Luffy achieved his dream, and make Blackbeard regret his choices.
Once finished you stood up and moved back to your previous position and stare at the grave one more time, before heading back down to join the rest of the crew, leaving Shanks and Marco to speak.
Once everything done and the crew was back on the Red Force, you went back to cabin and gave yourself about two hours to let out all tears and sobs you held back, then you would join the crew on deck and toast a drink to both Ace and Whitebeard.
Over following week or so, you finally were able to find something out about Luffy, and the relief you felt knowing that your youngest and only boy now was alive, made most of the tension & worry you were still holding onto leave, almost sagging against Shanks hearing that bit of news.
You needed to speak him and trying to get a hold of him was harder than you expected but you did it, you got to speak to Luffy and cried the whole time speaking him, but you didn't care he was your last boy.
Before ending the call you told him just how proud of him you were and how much you loved. Then told him, that if he ever needed you for anything you will do everything in power to be there.
With the knowledge that Luffy was being cared for and getting trained by Rayleigh, so he could protect his crew in the future, it made you think about your short-coming, you might be stealthy & able get things easily, and could fight well, but you knew you need to better and expanded your arsenal, so you turned to Yasopp to learn how to shoot like a sniper.
Most of the crew chose to see this as a positive thing, expanding your skills set and focusing on something. Shanks and Beck however had a few more thoughts on this and had been keeping a close eyes you, especially with how they had seen you reacted when Blackbeard had been mentioned in the newspapers, and you learning to snipe was too much of a coincidence to them, so they were keeping a close eyes on you just encase you chose to do something reckless.
With the sun starting to set, you were leaning against the railing watching horizon, thinking about the how people said there were five stage of grief but you for you decided that there were six now, with revenge as the 6th stage, as it seem that this new was a little part of you wouldn't rest till you got it.
And you made a promise to Ace, that if you get the chance you were gonna make Blackbeard regret it by putting one right between his eyes.

Hello 👋 um I don't know if your request is open, but could you do yandere Shanks x female reader headcanon. Like how Shanks meet the reader, how he got obsessed, etc. (Can you make it where shanks crew is obsessed with the reader too, not in a romantic way and helps shanks)
A/N: It took me a while to get a good enough idea and i have two. I feel this is soul less but i did my best with my degrading mental health right now. I hope you enjoy.
I'm not really familiar with the crew except Benn so i did include him. I don't think this is my best work and i honestly hate it and will probably try again once in a better headspace.
I apologize if its not up to your taste
Warning: Has a shit ton of grammatical mistakes, I'm so sorry
Thank you for stopping by
The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden glow over the Red force. Laughter and the sounds of clashing swords filled the air, a reminder of the crew’s relentless spirit. You were nestled in a corner of the ship, blissfully unaware of the darker truths that surrounded you. As Ben Beckman’s little sister, you had grown up sheltered from the harsh realities of the world, always finding comfort in your brother’s protective presence.
Your first encounter with Shanks was a vivid memory. It had been a fateful day when your brother brought you on the infamous captain aboard the Red force for a visit. You had been playing with a few of the younger crewmates, their laughter echoing around you, when Ben approached, his usual calm demeanor slightly overshadowed by a hint of excitement.
“Y/N, come here! I want you to meet someone special,” he called, ushering you toward the main deck.
You followed, curious and eager. As you stepped into the sunlight, your eyes landed on the man with red hair, his grin wide and inviting. “Hey there! You must be Ben’s little sister. I’ve heard so much about you!”
Your heart raced at the sight of him. He was everything stories had described—a charismatic figure whose presence lit up the room. “Hi! I’m Y/N,” you said, beaming.
Shanks smiling while holding your hand, his playful nature shining through. “I hear you love adventures. How about we have one together? I could use a partner in crime!”
You giggled, completely taken in by his charm. “Really? That sounds amazing!”
That day marked the beginning of your bond with Shanks. He took you on a mini adventure around the ship, showing you the ropes and regaling you with tales of his travels. You listened, wide-eyed, as he spoke of battles and treasures, unaware of the underlying dangers that came with such a life.
As you laughed and explored, you felt a sense of warmth and safety that enveloped you. Little did you know that Shanks, even then, had been captivated by your innocence, seeing you as a light in a world filled with shadows.
Fast forward to the present, and Shanks was still a constant figure in your life, always by your side, watching over you with a mix of affection and an intensity that you couldn’t quite place.
“Hey, Y/N!” Shanks called out one afternoon, striding over with that signature grin. “What are you up to?”
“Just watching the waves,” you replied, your eyes sparkling with innocence. “It’s so peaceful!”
Shanks’ heart raced at your words. He loved how you saw the world, so untouched by the dangers lurking just beyond the horizon. “You know, the world isn’t as safe as it seems,” he said, his tone shifting ever so slightly. “But I promise to protect you, no matter what.”
You giggled, brushing off his concern. “I know! Ben would never let anything happen to me.”
At the mention of your brother, Shanks’ expression softened. Ben was fiercely protective, almost possessive, and the crew had come to share that sentiment. While they all adored you, their affection had a darker edge, something you remained blissfully unaware of.
“Ben’s always looking out for you,” Shanks agreed, stepping closer. “But sometimes, you need to rely on others too. Like me.”
You smiled, oblivious to the way his gaze lingered on you, filled with intensity. “Of course! You’re my favorite big brother figure!”
Shanks chuckled, though a hint of frustration bubbled beneath the surface. He wanted more than just the role of a guardian; he longed to claim you as his own. But he also understood that you were naive to the world's cruelties. That innocence was something he cherished, and he’d do anything to keep it intact.
Meanwhile, Ben watched from a distance, arms crossed, his eyes narrowed. He’d seen the way Shanks looked at you, and though he trusted his captain, an unsettling feeling gnawed at him. He would always prioritize your safety above all else, even if it meant keeping you sheltered from the crew's darker inclinations.
“Y/N!” Ben called, stepping forward. “How about a game? Just the two of us.”
You perked up, grateful for your brother’s attention. “Sure! What should we play?”
As you wandered off with Ben, Shanks watched, his expression conflicted. He loved you dearly, but he knew that your brother's presence would always be a barrier. Later that evening, as you prepared to settle down for the night, Ben and Shanks found a moment to speak privately.
“Shanks,” Ben began, his tone serious. “We both care about Y/N. We need to keep her safe.”
Shanks nodded, his expression hardening. “I agree. The world is dangerous, and we both know it. But together, we can protect her.”
Ben’s eyes narrowed. “We need to be vigilant. No one can get to her without going through us.”
“Exactly,” Shanks replied, a determined glint in his eye. “We’ll make sure she never sees the darkness of this world. We’re in this together, Ben. We’ll keep her innocent and happy, no matter what.”
Days passed, filled with laughter and adventures on the high seas. Yet, as you explored, the crew’s obsession grew, entwining around you like a vine. You remained blissfully unaware, believing the crew’s protectiveness stemmed from love and friendship. Little did you know, their hearts were tied together by a darker thread, one that bound them to you more tightly than any affection could.
One night, as the stars twinkled above, you sat on the deck, lost in thought. Shanks approached, leaning against the railing beside you. “You okay, Y/N?”
“Yeah! Just thinking about how lucky I am to be with you all,” you replied, your eyes shining with sincerity.
Shanks’ smile faltered for a brief moment, replaced by a more serious look. “You have no idea how lucky you are… or how dangerous this world can be.”
You tilted your head, confused. “I mean, I’ve heard stories, but it doesn’t feel that way here.”
“Exactly,” Shanks said, his voice low. “And that’s how it should stay. As long as we’re here, you’ll always be safe.”
You grinned, completely missing the intensity behind his words. “I know! You all make me feel so protected.”
As the night deepened, Shanks’ hand brushed against yours, an electric jolt that sent a thrill down your spine. You looked up, meeting his gaze, still unaware of the storm brewing within him.
The next day, Ben noticed the lingering touches and exchanged glances. He felt the urge to intervene, to remind Shanks of the boundaries. But deep down, he understood the allure of your innocence—the way it made everyone around you feel alive, almost compelled to keep you close.
“Let’s go on an adventure today!” you suggested, breaking the tension.
“Count me in,” Ben replied, masking his unease with a smile. Shanks nodded, but a flicker of possessiveness gleamed in his eye. He wouldn’t let anyone take you away from him.
As you laughed and played with your brother and the crew, you remained blissfully unaware of the intertwining shadows of yandere love that surrounded you. The Red-Haired Pirates had claimed you as their treasure, and they would go to any lengths to protect you, even if it meant shielding you from the very truths of the world that would shatter your innocence.
In the embrace of their twisted affection, you danced on the edge of a dangerous precipice, blissfully ignorant of the love that could turn to obsession at a moment's notice. And so, the sweet story of your life with the yandere Shanks and Ben continued, a delicate balance of joy and darkness that only time would reveal.
A/N: I didn't particularly like this piece but i still posted it.
Umm i hope you enjoy reading it @wereallmadhere666

❀ prettiest little blossom w/ Uta, Shanks & F!S/I (found family)

word count: 1.3k
Chloris could feel the curious pair of eyes lingering on her long before she spotted the red and white shock of hair in between the flowerbeds. She smiled over the friendly intrusion and put down the small watering can before she got up from her knees, wiping her hands on the apron around her waist. Her gaze softened when she leaned over, taking a peak at the little girl squatting in a sea of white camellias.
“My pretty little blossom”, she cooed and reached out to rest a hand on top of the girl’s head, Uta leaning into her touch like a tiny housecat. “Were you hiding in here?” “You seemed busy, mom. I didn’t want to disturb you”, the child pouted. Big eyes looked up to Chloris and she could feel her heart soften once again. She could never resist the charm of the little one – she didn’t want to, this was her daughter after all. They might not be related by blood, but it was faith which brought them together, wrapping its red strings around them so tightly. It’s been a year almost and ever since her love for Uta only grew with every day passing by.
“Come here”, she said, her voice soft, and picked the girl up, embracing her in a way only a mother could. Uta nestled her face in the crook of Chloris’ neck, melting into the warm hug as she clings to her with no intentions of ever letting go. When Chloris started rubbing her back gently, Uta would have started purring if she could; she was content and happy in her mom’s arms.
“Do you want to help me water the garden?”
Uta’s face lit up and she nodded eagerly, peppering her mother with kisses on the cheeks. She always loved being in the garden with Chloris, enjoying the calming presence of the herbalist in the midst of a rowdy crew – who she all loved dearly, they were her family after all – but sometimes all she yearned for was her mother’s touch and her gentle, encouraging words. Chloris rolled Uta’s sleeves up carefully after she put her down, giggling over the enthusiasm that was written all over the girl’s face when she was running off to fill the watering can.
They started with a flowerbed rich in red, pink and white colors. Chloris instructed Uta gently on how much water the camellias needed, keeping a close eye on her and praising her when she did a great job, putting a big smile on Uta’s lips.
“Did you know that camellias have different meanings, depending on their color?” Uta shook her head and scooted closer, listening eagerly when Chloris cupped different blossoms with her elegant hand. “See the white ones you just hid in? Their meaning is ‘You’re adorable’ which I can only agree with.” She laughed and playfully tapped Uta’s nose, making the girl snicker. “The pink ones stand for longing while the red ones… well, you could say ‘You’re a Flame in My Heart’.”
Uta sticked out her tongue at the cheesy meaning, but then gazed up to her mother again. “Sounds like something daddy would say when he kisses you, mom.” Chloris raised an eyebrow and then laughed again, surprised by the wittiness of the little kid. She sure had a sharp mind and knew her father inside out. It’s as if she saw that Shanks was a romantic at heart, murmuring the sweetest words into Chloris’ ears any given time of the day, hopelessly in love with his fiancée.
“What are those, mom?” Uta pointed to the next flowerbed with similar colors but differently shaped blossoms. “Carnations”, Chloris replied and reached for one to put it behind Uta’s ear. “They have various meanings but one of them is mother’s love.” Uta’s eyes widened and she looked back and forth between the carnations and Chloris, one hand feeling for the flower she just placed on her. “Now I look as pretty as you, mom!” Chloris chuckled and pulled the little girl into a hug, tiny arms wrapping around her neck. “Out of all flowers you’re the prettiest little blossom anyway.”
Uta squeezed her mother even tighter, almost vibrating in joy over her praise. She was a child raised by pirates who was unafraid and clever, and just like her father she’s drawn to kindness; radiating around Chloris as if she was the sun. She still remembered the soft hands that nurtured her back to health. Her wish to never have to let go of them came true when Chloris joined the crew and set sail with them. Ever since not a day passed by where Uta didn’t sing for her mother, making up new songs for her and learning the ones Chloris’ remembered hearing from her mother, passed down to a future generation. And at night, when they sang a lullaby together, Uta wished to the stars that they’ll always and forever be together.
“Knew I’d find you two here.”
A pair of strong arms embraced mother and daughter, pulling them close to a broad and familiar chest. Shanks placed a kiss on top of their heads, hugging his little family close. Uta’s protests about how she’s getting squished between them get muffled and are immediately forgotten when both her parents placed a kiss on each cheek of hers, making her grin from ear to ear. Chloris leaned her head against Shanks’ shoulder, gazing up to him lovingly. Having him visit her in the garden always made her heart flutter and the flowers in her hair blossom wide open.
“Mom is teaching me about flowers and their meanings”, Uta explained proudly and told her dad what she just learned about camellias and carnations, always glancing up to Chloris who gives her encouraging nods and a warm smile. She was so proud of that little girl and couldn’t wait to see the strong, fearless and yet kind woman she will grow into; all while wishing she would stay this small forever – a mother’s heart being a little unreasonable maybe, but just hoping for the best for her daughter.
“You’re so clever, my little sweet pea”, Shanks cooed and placed a kiss on Uta’s forehead while ruffling her hair, much to her disgruntlement and Chloris knew she’d have to fix her hairdo for her once again because her father always messed it up. She grinned over the little rituals they’ve made in only under a year of sailing together and she knew there were many, many more to come.
“What’s the name of this one, mom?” Uta pointed to another flowerbed that radiated a strong scent, similar to chrysanthemums. Chloris' eyes followed the outstretched finger and when she realized which flowers her daughter meant, her gaze softened. She placed a kiss on Shanks’ cheek, then one on Uta’s while hugging both of them closer.
“Those are yarrows, my dear. They’re very useful in medicine, Hongo uses them often”, Chloris responds while Uta nods along eagerly. Because Chloris nurtured her back to health with the help of plants and herbs, Uta was very curious about how nature could be used to cure all kinds of illnesses. The yarrows swayed gently in the wind, tiny dots of rainbow colors growing densely packed. “You know what they stand for?” Uta shook her head and peaked up to her dad as if he could know the answer, but he also shook his head and looked at his lover eagerly, a smile curling up on his lips.
“Everlasting love…”
