a call to you.
WC: 0.2k SUMMARY: the great protector has bonded with you. NOTES: i havent seen the movie. only the thirty minutes that tgp is in fucking shit up WARNINGS: m!dragon x gn!reader | mentioned: mate | no y/n
THE GREAT PROTECTOR has resided at the bottom of Ta Lo Lake for centuries. Entire civilizations have risen and collapsed while he sleeps within the icy depths. In the indigo darkness, he had heard a voice, as clear as if it were next to his ear, and he opened his great eyes. The first time he emerged from his cradle in lifetimes and he did it to follow your sound.
After he’d tracked you down, he brought you to a nearby cave where he’d built a nest for you. His claws having enclosed around you so gently as he carried you to your new home. Your protests and questions went unanswered for he cannot speak your language. The time you’d spend together aids in understanding him. You learn to crave his presence.
You’re no prisoner, you often walk to Ta Lo. It teems with bustling life, unlike your cave, so you socialize there. Everyone has noticed how quiet you’ve gotten, because you’re used to inhabiting a space where no words are needed.
On a rare occasion you’re visited, a friend timidly approaches the cave’s mouth. To soften its intimidation, you meet her, and beckon her inside. You prepare tea, and pour a drink for the Protector out of respect. It’s ceremonial, the way you draw near to him, kneel down to sit on your legs, and place the delicate cup onto the ground near his cheek. He won’t drink it, but you know he appreciates it. Steam rises from its hatch, and he eyes you gratefully.
You return to your friend, who catches you up on the events of her day. At one point, she advances on you with the intent to touch you. It’s a comfortable gesture, a hand reaching for your arm, but you have a preference of space, recoiling out of habit. The rebuke within you stirs the other resident of this cave. He rears his great head, pupils thinning as they set sights on her. She recedes in fear, and billow of angry fog expels from his nose, grating growls echoing off the stone walls. To calm him, you signal a wave to him, convey to him there is no danger. Your emotions are controlled, your friend meant you no harm.
“What was that?” your dear companion asks, bewildered and fit to gather her things to retreat in fright.
You offer her a kind smile as the Protector bows his chin to the floor behind you. Unfortunately, your explanation raises more questions than it answers, “Oh, he’s very sensitive. He thinks I’m his mate.”

“Are You Wearing Mismatched Socks?”
Shang-Chi x widow!reader
summary: Shaun sees a new game circling the internet and decides he HAS to challenge his girlfriend to a round.
warnings: violent play fighting, very brief mention/ joke about DV (no actual domestic violence!!), very brief mentions of Shang-Chi and Readers times as trained assassins, sex joke at the very end.
authors note: I have never written any sort of fight scene or action before so this is very new to me, but it had to be done. Also, I requested this idea to another creator here on tumblr before deciding I wanted to give it a go myself. If they write their own version, I’ll tag them so you can read that version as well!
“BABE!”
“WHAT?”
“COME IN HERE!”
“WHY?”
“JUST COME HERE!”
You sigh, blowing a strand of hair out of your face. You roll off the edge of your bed, clicking your phone off in the process, and saunter down the hall toward the sound of his voice.
Shuan stood in the center of… what used to be your living room? Both recliners and your big green couch were pushed flush up against the walls. You could see your coffee table stacked on top of your dining table in the next room over. All your blankets and knick knacks were scattered throughout the space. On the bookshelf, counters, window sills - anywhere but where they belonged.
He was looking down at his phone with an amused smile on his face.
“Done some… redecorating, have we?”
He glanced up, excitement clear on his face. “I’ll put it all back later. Give me one of your socks.”
You stared at him. “Give you… one?”
He nodded, jutting his palm out. “Yeah.”
“… why.”
“I found this game, it looks super fun!” He said, walking over to where you stood. He held out his phone, which was playing a video of what looked to be a set of twins. Each girl wore one white sock. “The goal is to rip the other persons sock off and keep yours on!”
You watched the girls tickle, tackle, and wrestle each other until one emerged victorious, sweaty sock in hand.
“I don’t know Shaun, I’m not sure I wanna play a game where I have to free your dawgs.” You teased.
“Hey! My ‘dogs’ aren’t that bad. Yours on the other hand-“
You smacked his arm. “Hey-“
“That’s the spirit!” He said, tossing his phone on the couch. “Now, give me a sock.”
“Get your own so- HEY!”
He yanked your right leg up by the back of the knee, quick but careful to make sure you didn’t fall, and slid your sock off. “See, next time, you’ll try to make sure I don’t do that.”
Oh, it’s on.
“Fine.” You sigh, trying to seem unamused. In reality, you were rather excited to play. The game looked fun enough when the girls played, but a round between two ex- child assassins? Things were going to get interesting fast.
Shaun beams at you and slides the sock onto his own foot. He looks at you, then your remaining sock, and raises an eyebrow. “Are you wearing mismatched socks?”
“Do you want to play or not?”
He backs away, hands raised in a surrender motion. “My bad, my bad, I should know better than to question you.” He moves a good three feet in front of you and reaches out for a handshake. “May the best man win.”
You yank his hand forward and flip him over your shoulder, slamming him down hard onto the cushy carpet. You twist and dive, aiming for his pink striped sock, but he rolls away quickly, jumping to his feet.
“That’s totally not fair! We hadn’t started yet!”
“Sorry, I didn’t realize you made all your opponents wait for your mark before fighting.”
He scoffed. “I was trying to be civil with you.”
“Don’t.”
He kicked out with his bare foot, leaving the socked one on the ground. The impact set you back a bit, but you regained yourself before slamming into the TV.
“Watch the furniture!” He teased, diving down toward your feet.
You dove over him, rolling and landing on your feet far on the other side of the living room. You crossed your arms and tapped your socked foot impatiently. “Gee, I thought the great Shang-Chi would find this game tedious. Assumed you would’ve won by now.”
Shaun rolled his eyes before running toward you again. You attempted to jump out of the way, but he snagged you by the waist. He tackled you to the floor as carefully as he could. Sweet, but his mistake. He only held you with one arm, using the other to stop your fall, making it easy for you to wiggle out of his grip.
You rolled slightly to the left and knocked him face first into the carpet. You crawled toward his foot, forgetting to keep your own feet away from his hands. You yelped when you felt him grabbing at your ankles and started kicking violently. He managed to tug your sock a bit, but lost his grip quickly.
You yanked yourself away from his hands, curling your feet under yourself into a crouch position. Shaun wasted no time crawling toward you, laughing as he went. You scuttled backward but came to an abrupt stop when you slammed into the couch.
He was closing in. You didn’t have anywhere else to run, so you took the offensive route and thrust yourself forward, sending the two of you sprawling across the carpet. The force of you landing on him was unexpected and totally knocked the wind out of Shaun. While he laid there catching his breath, you swung around and reached for his sock.
Of course, he regained his breath too fast. He sat up and grabbed you, pinning your arms to your sides. “Not cool y/n.”
“I can be less cool.” you panted. He started to say something, but you thrust your arm back and elbowed him in the ribs. You snaked out of his grip and ran across the room yet again.
Shaun stood up slowly, rubbing his rib. “Come on!”
“Sorry baby.” You laughed. You stuck out your bottom lip in a teasing pout. “I’ll kiss it better after I win.”
“Oh no, I can’t let you win after this.” He chuckled.
But you had a plan.
…Hopefully, the TV wouldn’t pay the price.
You ran at your boyfriend, gathered at much momentum as you could, jumped up, and wrapped your legs around his neck. He stumbled, but managed to regain his balance.
“Aw dude!” His voice was muffled. “Can a guy get a warning before getting a crotch to the face?”
He started smacking his own back, desperately trying to grab at your sock. But ultimately he couldn’t reach your feet at the angle. You laugh and let yourself fall backward. You dangled yourself from his shoulders and looked through your eyebrows to locate which foot had the striped sock.
Honestly, there were a million ways Shaun could have escaped this position. But all of them would’ve been pretty painful for you, and you knew he would never actually hurt you for a game. Or anything, for that matter, but especially not a game. So he continued to reach and grab for your sock.
You reached down and tickled his right leg. He kicked out a little, as that was the last thing he expected from you. He stopped reaching for your sock and grabbed your thighs instead, trying to keep you from falling while he lost his balance.
You took the opportunity to snatch the sock off his foot.
“BOO!” Shaun complained.
“Whats that?? I can’t hear you over the sound of me WINNING!”
You reached your hands down to the floor and unhooked your legs from behind Shaun’s head, gracefully kicking down as if out of a handstand, and waved the sock around in victory.
Shaun stared at you. “I can’t believe you just black widowed me.”
You shrugged. “I can’t believe you talked such big game just to be taken out by a little tickle.”
“And a crotch to the face?”
“Whatever.” You rolled your eyes. “So… what do I win?”
A mischievous grin spread across your boyfriends face. “Who said you won? We gotta do best two out of three.”
“What? No! I won fair and square-“
Shaun ripped the sock out of your hands and took off down the hall. “BEST TWO OUT OF THREE!”
————
You padded into your bedroom with a glass of water and a handful of ibuprofen. Shaun was already under the covers, but you could see bruises sprouting up around his exposed upper body. You weren’t much better — you had a nasty spot right on your cheekbone, as well as littered all over your body.
“Hey,” you greeted gently, sitting on the edge of the bed.
He set his phone down and looked up at you with his beautiful brown eyes. “Hey.”
You took his hand and dumped a few ibuprofen into it. “Maybe we should play a little gentler next time.”
He smiled before popping the tablets into his mouth. “Maybe.”
You passed him the water glass and he took a swig before passing it back to you. You took your own dose and set the glass on the nightstand. Shaun pulled the covers up for you to crawl under, to which you happily did, curling right up against him.
He ran his fingers over the forming bruise on your cheek. “Aw dude. Does it hurt?”
“I’ve had worse.”
“People are gunna think I hit you.”
“You kinda did.” You laugh.
“Not on purpose!” He defended. He moved his hand to cup your face before sending you a pointed stare. “You, on the other hand, had malicious intent.“
“And who won all three rounds?”
Shaun glared at you but couldn’t argue. He leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to the bruise. “Thanks for playing with me.” He said softly.
You reached up and rested your hand over his. “Anytime. Thanks for putting the couch back.”
He chuckled, closing his eyes. “Anytime.”
————
“Dude, what happened to you?” Katy asked gawking at Shaun, who had stiffly shuffled into work covered head to toe in bruises. “Bad guys?”
“Y/n.”
Katy curled her lip in disgust. “Didn’t need to know that dude.”
“What? Oh my god Katy, no, we were playing the sock-“
“Nope. Too late. Image is already there.”
“KATY.”

Another Spring Request
27. Allergies with Shang-Chi
Happy Writing
A/N - AWWWW, I love this Stella! Thanks for requesting a cute Shang Chi prompt, bestie!
Summary - Shang loved the spring. You on the other hand, hate it.
Warnings - Only some fluff!
"How are you feeling?"
"Like shit,"
"Shouldn't have asked,"
You blew your nose and tossed the ruined tissue into the waste bin next to your bed, then you reached over to use some nasal spray. Shang was sitting on the edge of your bed with an amused tone. Your nose was red and runny, your eyes glossy and tears threatening to come out from constant sneezing, and the perfect afternoon that Shang planned out was ruined.
All thanks to your allergies.
You two barely started dating, only for a month, and you still have that new relationship feeling between the pair of you. Katy was the one who got you two together, and she was immensely proud that you two were an official item. Shang was shy when he asked you out on a date, which was nothing rather big but a trip to a food truck parking lot and then a small trolley ride to one of his favorite parks.
He wanted it nice and simple, a great tip he got from Katy since he asked her plenty of questions about you and what you liked. You found it quite sweet that he wanted to do his research through Katy,, and once he confessed that to you, a blush was on his cheeks.
You kissed his cheek in return, almost having him pass out cold.
But now that Spring that came to the city, Shang wanted to take you out to the flowers that just bloomed right outside of the major city. You thought it was a great idea until you got hit with your allergies halfway through the date.
Thank goodness for Shang being considerate and taking you right home.
"Katy should be back with your medicine," Shang said as he looked at his phone for the time.
"I can manage with my nose drops for now," You pressured him as you sat up in your bed and rubbed your tired eyes, "I've had worse when I was younger,"
"I still feel bad, and you told me you had allergies," Shang said in a remorseful tone as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously. You gave him a grin, seeing the torn look on his face and wishing to brighten his spirits.
"For the fact that we've been only dating for a month, I won't hold this one against you. Now the next time this happens, I will," You teased, Shang giving you a small look. You had to smile at the situation since you knew that this was a simple allergy that would happen to you constantly.
"Shang, it's gonna be okay," You said to him calmly, "You did good with the flower fields. I just didn't take my medicine beforehand, and I tend to forget to do that a lot,"
"I know, I just wanted to make it special and perfect," Shang explained, you raised an eyebrow at him.
"Since when do I want perfect?" You questioned, seeing him pause and freeze as you went on, "Perfection is boring! There's nothing truly good and joyful that comes from being perfect."
Shang paused, drinking in what you told him as you grinned and leaned back against your pillows. You only heard some of his background and childhood, and you knew he was always under pressure even as a little boy. Although he did leave some big pieces of his life out from your talks and conversations, you knew he would tell you in his own time. But you knew Shang knew all about perfection and striving for it. And maybe hearing you tell him not to be perfect with you, shook his core for a moment.
"I hate perfection," You reminded him calmly, "I just want you. And I would hope you'd want me, allergies and all,"
Shang had to chuckle at how you were attempting to break him out of his mind racing and his low mood.
"It's true! My allergies are so bad in the Spring, not to mention how I can't take on spicey food for the life of me. And flowers, don't get me anywhere near roses! I would take peonies and daisies any day,"
"Good to know," Shang replied in his light tone, the burden was finally lifted off of him, "And just so you know, I want you too,"
"I'm glad we're on the same page," You hummed, Shang leaning in to kiss you as you were ready for him. But you sneezed right before he could, Shang dodging the sneeze just in time as you groaned and blew your nose again.
"I promise to try and not kill you on our next date. We're going to go to the movies," Shang said in a chuckle.
The End.

Hi writer of [An AI in Talokan].
The Story is mainly a Nashuri Fanfiction but it's mostly Namor, Namora & Attuma. Learning the history of Earth before Wakanda Forever. Or just a MCU Recap.
But I am not sure What should I include and not include.
I already wrote recaps of :
Captain America: The First Avenger
Captain Marvel : Part 1
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Thor
The Incredible Hulk
The Avengers
Iron Man 3
Thor : The Dark World
Captain America : The Winter Soldier
The one I haven't done yet :
Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of the Galaxy : Vol 2
Avengers : Age Of Ultron
Ant-Man
Captain America : Civil War
Black Widow : Part 1
Doctor Strange
Black Panther
Thor : Ragnarok
Ant-Man & the Wasp : Part 1
Avengers : Infinity War
Ant-Man & the Wasp : Part 2
Captain Marvel : Part 2
Avengers : Endgame
Black Widow : Part 2
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
WandaVision
The Falcon & the Winter Solider
Hawkeye
Doctor Strange & the Mutiverse of Madness
Thor : Love & Thunder
I left some out, for example.
The Eternals & MoonNight & WereWolf by Night.
The SpiderMan Movies were not told because no one remembers Peter Parker.
[Spoilers for Ant-Man & the Wasp : Quantumania]
I also decided not to include Ant-Man : Quantumania. Because in the End. Scott said he wasn't going to tell the Avengers about what happened.
So I don't know what should include and not include.
If anybody has any ideas, please let me know.

If we were to set a watch order for the MCU movies, it would go kind of like this. First, watch Iron Man 1. It's chronologically the first, and suffers from some early installment weirdness, but it's a classic. Then, watch Captain Marvel. It's a prequel that sets up both outer space and the guy in the credits of the first movie, so great all around. Then, watch Thor 1. It sets up more aliens and directly leads into the next movie. That being said, watch the Avengers next, thus closing the "classic MCU" arc. Oh, and you can watch Iron Man 2&3. They are not entirely bad, and it might provide some additional context, but it's entirely optional. Ant-Man too, but it's pretty self-contained, even if not bad. Then, watch the Guardians of the Galaxy, both of them. They are great, we promise, and it sets up a sort of "outer space interlude" before we return to the Earth. Close it with watching the first Doctor Strange, and then Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings, in a nice "mystic" arc. Preferably, all in the original languages with subs. Don't watch anything else. You CAN watch Infinity War, as you now have pretty much all context needed, but we advise against it. The CGI and fight scenes are epic, but IW simply has a shitty plot. Otherwise, these are the only ones really worth watching (coming from the one who watched them all for fanfiction research) (please don't repeat our mistake).
#mcu#dunno why we did it but sure here it is for the masses#side note tumblr search is shit#as in#we've been searching for this post for like an hour#finally resorting to just combing through the whole thing#eugh

Author's note: The shirtless scene in Shang-Chi is one of the most self-aware things Marvel has done.
Imagine reuniting with your high school sweetheart, Shaun, in a very unexpected way: fighting each other in an underground ring in Macau.
"Now for the most anticipated fight of the night! Get ready for the two most famous names to appear in this ring! On my left, the Bus Boy!" Jon Jon's excitement was beyond explosive. It was fairly easy to guess that depending on the outcome of the spar, he will either become a millionaire or chew cardboard for dinner.
Shang-Chi entered the ring shirtless which earned a confused question from Katy about its whereabouts but he was just as in the dark as she was. Apparently, an unspoken "rule" this place had. The crowd around him cheered, their expectations for him higher than he was aware of. After all, he did become worldwide famous after barely a day.
"On my right, the famed champion, The Beheader!"
The crowd became louder as the door across the ring opened. The name made Shang-Chi slightly uncomfortable as it implied a quite unpleasant experience should he lose the fight. What he could not expect even in his wildest dreams was the reality that hid behind the imposing name; a reality he remembered fondly despite the time that had passed.
When the door opened and you stepped out, Shang-Chi first couldn't believe his eyes. Was it really...you? The last time the two of you spoke you were on your way to Europe with your parents. How come you ended up in a fight ring in Macau? Did you ever get hurt?
Then his mind as if went back several years, maybe Shang-Chi himself became younger - became the boy you used to date. He certainly felt that way like all the years spent separated from each other never happened and just the previous day you were bowling at a run-down parlor in San Francisco.
"(Y/N)?" he said quietly, still in disbelieve. Maybe it was his bias but he was sure you looked even more impressive than the day you left. Time was certainly merciful to you.
On the other hand, you felt dread from the very moment Bus Boy hit your ears. Part of you was certainly amused - you're going to fistfight your high school boyfriend in an illegal fight club in Macau, which itself sounds at least ridiculous. The other part of you started to reminisce about the days you spent in San Francisco. Was Shaun the same person you knew when you left? No, couldn't be, both of you have changed since high school. Would he still recognize you? Maybe years had gone by but can you really forget a face you used to stare at every day? Slowly, you could feel the old affection resurfacing. You were always honest with yourself: you tried forgetting Shaun instead of peacefully getting over him because of the immense guilt you felt over your departure. It was simply easier to forget it happened instead of accepting you did something not quite right.
Should you tell him the truth, would he believe? Moreover, would he forgive you?
You were aware he deserved to hear the whole story but the real question was: was Shaun willing to listen? It was difficult for you to come to terms with the fact that he might be upset enough to actually fight you, something you did not plan on doing, and won't want to have anything to do with you. You sighed quietly - after all, he was a grown independent man and was fully entitled to not want to hear your story and simply walk away. And you would have to accept that.
The doors in front of you opened, the exceptionally loud cheering nearly deafening you. Right across the ring, there he stood. More grown and handsome than you remembered. And for some reason...shirtless?
Although you couldn't hear him, simply by seeing the way he moved his lips, you knew he said your name: something he probably hasn't done in quite a while.
"Hey, Shaun," you answered equally quietly but you knew well you did get the message across.
The bell rang signalizing the beginning of the fight. Still unsure what ground you were standing on, you walked forward slowly, approaching Shaun cautiously. If he just threw punches at you, you wouldn't be too mad about it: you did, after all, lie to him.
"What are you doing here?" he asked as he pretended to land a punch. "Macau is not Europe."
You ducked from his another pseudo-swing and grabbed his arm in a very mild joint lock. How long till the audience realizes?
"Neither is it America. I could ask you the same thing," you whispered.
Shaun got out of your poor excuse of a lock and, still presenting his best acting skills, he kicked your stomach. It was a good thing you made a good pair back in the day because in any other scenario the trickery you were committing right now would never work. Before Shaun's foot touched your body, you threw yourself backward, landing on your back. The crowd cheered - a good sign, they were still in the dark.
You didn't get up - did not have time to. Shaun sat on top of you and hit the floor right next to your head: he never targeted you.
"Let's get this over with and I'll tell you everything," you said.
"I missed you," he breathed out, completely confusing you. Not that you did not expect that, more like that wasn't a good moment to get all melancholic
"I missed you too, Shaun. But now's not the time for that."
Using his moment of distraction, you pushed him off and got up. He tried scoring a few dishonest hits until you ducked one of them, got behind him, and pulled him down with you so that Shaun was lying on his back on you. Your hands were around his neck and head in a loose choking hold, only looking like you were choking him out.
"Count to 15 and pretend to pass out. I'll meet you in the locker room," you whispered in his ear as secretively as you could. As honest as he could be with himself when Shaun thought of you whispering into his ear again it was a part of a completely different scenario than the one he was a part of now.
Shang-Chi pretended to lose consciousness while thinking just one question: Why did he always let you win?

CUDDLING WITH SHANG-CHI
A/n: I can't stop thinking about this HC; I just know he gives the best cuddle time ever.
Warning: None! So much fluff, sugary sweets that rot your teeth (and silly moments).
Shang-Chi is definitely a human heater.
Love to wrap his arm around you and kiss the back of your neck.
You guys would chit-chat about anything tbh.
The cuddle always ends with you and him having a nap.
And this is where the fun part begins lol
Listen, I know Shang-Chi (personally; source? Trust me bro) and I'm not going to romanticize everything about this man.
He falls asleep very fast and is a heavy sleeper.
He still holds you very close to him, not in a suffocating way, but in a snuggling way.
But Shang-Chi sleeps like a log, and on some days he will be slightly snoring.
He is always the big spoon at the start of cuddling and ends up as the little spoon when you guys wake up.
Specifically, when you wake up
Like I said, he is a heavy sleeper, and the fact that you're beside him makes him feel even more relaxed and happy, so that boy ain't waking up soon.
And if you do manage to wake him up, he will say "5 more minutes, babe" without opening his eyes.
Later on, you check on him, and he's like this 💀💀
Nothing can beats cuddling time with Shang-Chi tbh; it's not a big deal but just being in his presence is enough to make you feel safe.
Idk I feel his energy and vibe; I cannot explain it (and I'm a person who absolutely hates being touched).

A Friendly Reunion
A Friendly Reunion
Pairing: Shang-Chi x Stark!Reader, platonic Sam/Bucky x Stark!Reader
Warnings: swearing, implied sex (barely), boys being dumb
Summary: You’re enjoying an afternoon out with your boyfriend and his bestie when two relics from your past decide to ambush the event,
(gifs not mine)
“Holy shit!”
Your eyebrows scrunched together at Katy’s outburst. You, Shang-Chi, and Katy had been laughing over comments on his infamous Bus Boy video when she suddenly shouted this. You realized she was looking behind you, and you wondered if you were about to turn around and face some random monster of the week.
One hand rested on your shoulder, the other rested on your head like you were an arm rest, and this very simple action had you staring straight ahead wishing you suddenly had the power of teleportation, and not seismic abilities, so you could get out of there.
“(Y/N) Stark. How you doing?” Sam Wilson’s voice was heard and you just waited for someone else in particular to chime in.
“Doing pretty well for herself, I’d say. She’s hanging out with uh, what is it, those viral sensations now,” Bucky Barnes remarked.
“Holy shit,” Katy repeated.
You wanted to die.
It’s not that you hated Sam or Bucky at all. It was quite the opposite. You’d all grown very close, given your marriage to Steve, your dad, being part of the team; and you loved the two of them very much, like your own relatives you only wanted to see once a year even though you got along so well. But this was not one of those times you wanted to see these two very overprotective, childish, grown man-babies who had just grabbed a chair each and slid them into the table as they each took a seat.
You laughed nervously at your boyfriend and Katy, and turned your head to Bucky to glare at him and ask him, very, very rudely in Spanish, what the fuck he was doing there.
Bucky smiled and turned his attention to Shang-Chi, “She just cursed me out and asked why we’re here. Didn’t even introduce us first, some manners, right?”
“Oh my fucking god,” you muttered under your breath.
“Bucky, this is Sam,” He said. And while he was right-handed, he made a point of shaking Shang-Chi’s hand with his left hand just a little too firmly. “What’s your actual name, bus boy?”
“Shaun for the last ten years of lying. Shang-Chi, as of recently,” Katy informed the two men as Sam shook Shang-Chi’s hand next. “I’m Katy, his best friend, amazing driver. I’m kind of awesome.”
“Hi, I’m (Y/N) and I’m confused. Why are you both here?”
“We just wanted to see how you were doing, you know, check up on our girl,” Sam said as he stole food off of your plate and eyed your boyfriend suspiciously, “See who she’s been up to.”
“Subtle, Sam,” Bucky chuckled.
“No, no, no, I don’t like this shit when you two get along and are on the same page,” you protested.
“It’s okay, (Y/N).” Shang-Chi smiled a bit and nodded his head. “Don’t worry, I get it.”
“As you should, you’re the same way. ‘Oh, Katy, don’t date Ricky, you’re much too good for that loser. What about Toby?’ Like, really? The fuck kind of name is Toby?”
“Seriously?” He scoffed, “The dude’s name was Icky Ricky, and Toby is what you had a problem with?”
Bucky looked between everyone and pointed his chopsticks at you before digging into your food, “We also wanted to let you know that we settled that Walker situation.”
“Yeah? I saw the news. I guess he won’t be asking me to make a public statement on his behalf anymore,” you glanced to Shang-Chi, “So, you know how I uh--”
“Had a secret life as Tony’s kid and married Captain America? Yes, yes, I’m aware of that now.”
“Great! They wanted me to publically present the shield to fucko’s replacement after Sam gave it up.” You spared a quick glance at Sam who shrugged and drank your drink, “Guys! Stop eating my food. What do you want? You did not come all the way down here to eat my food and tell me you got the shield back and put a dumb white boy in his place. What do you want?”
“We wanted to meet him,” Bucky said, glancing in Shang-Chi’s direction. “Wanted to see who’s got our girl wrapped up so tightly she won’t even return our calls.”
“We also might need some repairs,” Sam added.
You did not anticipate this. You looked to Shang-Chi and Katy, the two of them sharing an identical look with one another before turning to you and shrugging, which kind of wasn’t the answer you wanted to hear. You would’ve loved for both of them to say, oh, no, you were all busy, you had plans, but they didn’t, because both of them were plenty excited to see these two as well.
“My car’s outside,” you sighed.
“We know,” Sam grinned. “We broke in and put our stuff inside.”
“What the fuck -- How did -- Wednesday didn’t alert me!”
“Oh, I still have your security code memorized,” Bucky said easily, shoving another piece of food in his mouth. “Didn’t you used to change it every few months? You’re slacking.”
“Oh my fucking god....”
You looked to Shang-Chi who was trying so, so very hard, for your sake, to not laugh about this entire situation. He thought it was endearing and cute that your two friends showed up and surprised you like this. Sure, they were embarassing you, but was that not the whole entire point of friendship? Besides, it was finally nice to see someone from your life that wasn’t a criminal or arch nemesis.
The five of you went out to your truck, and you saw that they did, in fact, put their belongings in your trunk. You shook your head and climbed into the driver’s seat as Bucky and Sam argued over shotgun.
“Shang-Chi gets the front seat with me. You two are in the back with Katy, deal with it.”
You all climbed in. Bucky asked for Shang-Chi to move his seat up, and he quickly obliged. Bucky slowly turned to smirk in Sam’s direction and flip him off. Sam rolled his eyes and did the same action, both oblivious to Katy sitting there in the middle and enjoying this entire interaction.
“This is a sandwich I’m delighted to be a part of,” Katy confessed.
As you started the car, Shang-Chi reached over and squeezed your hand, “You good? Do you want to ditch them?”
“Yes, but I’m good,” you smiled and squeezed his hand.
Grinning, he brought your hand up to his lips and kisssed your knuckles. A chorus of screaming errupting from the back as these children started to coo at the two of you. You shook your head and pressed your forehead against your steering wheel, muttering to yourself in Spanish so no one could understand you cursing them out -- forgetting in that moment that Bucky could hear you and understand you.
“Hey, you love us. Don’t act like you want to make our hearts stop beating just because we think that was cute,” Bucky chastised you. “Also, please, drive. We’re going to kill this poor girl between us.”
“It’s a fine way to go. One of the better options, I’d say, “Katy remarked.
In your new West Coast home, you kicked your shoes off as soon as you entered and told them to make themselves comfortable. Your AI, Wednesday, greeted everyone kindly. Immediately they went to the kitchen for snacks, as you went to get your tools and get started on fixing everything.
By the time you were in the living room with everything you needed, they were entering your living room with drinks and snacks. You thought nothing of it, preparing yourself to sit in silence and work while Katy and your loving boyfriend got stories out of the two men.
Yet as you sat on the ground, Shang-Chi took his seat next to you and offered you a drink. You glanced at him in surprise before smiling and thanking him with a kiss on the cheek.
“And some brain food,” He said quietly, handing you a bowl of your favorite snacks. “Let me know if you need anything.”
“Thanks, but I’m good! Enjoy their stories.”
“Still, tell me if you want anything,” He reminded you and remained by your side as he turned his head to listen to Katy ask them about fighting aliens.
As you started to work on Sam’s wings, you realized that there really wasn’t anything major that he couldn’t fix. These were the simplest, most basic repairs that he could do out on the field with a small toolkit. Confused, you looked up to see Sam watching you. He just smirked and nodded in your direction as you shook your head at him.
Of course this was all planned. Regardless, you did the tiny repair in minutes, making a mental note that you needed to get back at Sam and invade his life at some point.
“So what’s that jacket thing I’ve been seeing?” Bucky asked Shang-Chi. “You just, like, took off your jacket, still kicked a dude’s ass, and put it back on? How?”
“I--I don’t know how to explain it,” He laughed sheepishly and ran a hand through his hair. “It kind of just happens.”
“Yeah. It was awesome.” Katy added. “Here I am all these years defending him by screaming song lyrics and he could’ve just punched everyone out like that!” She snapped her fingers for emphasis.
“Well it’s not really hiding if I’m hitting everyone, is it, Katy?” He retorted.
“I’m sorry, do you still think Shaun is hiding from Shang-Chi? Are we doing that again?” Katy asked.
He groaned, “Here we go--”
“Really! Like naming myself Hal from Dal.”
“I was 15!”
“I was 15!” She mocked him as he shook his head and drank his beer.
“Don’t feel bad,” Bucky chimed in, “Stark over here got sent on an undercover mission -- sometimes that’s hard with her--”
“Because she’s so recognizable?” Katy asked.
“No, the attitude.” Sam laughed.
“Hey!” You frowned. “I’m a pure delight.”
“Her cover was blown in five minutes because she told the guy, ‘eat my ass you geriatric looking camel.’ Who says that to the mark that we’re after?!” Sam said.
“He grabbed my tit!” You argued. “And you’re lucky I was the one that broke the cover first and not Steve! He straight up wanted to snap that guy’s neck for doing that.”
“You were literally supposed to get close to him to get into his office and get launch codes,” Bucky reminded you.
“Oh,” You muttered. “Well, see, that’s why Nat and Wanda were better at undercover.”
There was a heavy pause as the three of you remembered your friends. Wanda, MIA for awhile now and not returning anyone’s calls, and Natasha, dead trying to help restore the world to what it was.
Shang-Chi slipped his hand into yours and gave it a squeeze. You smiled at him and squeezed his hand back as you suggested you ordered a pizza. Slipping away, you went to find your computer and place an order for a few pies (Bucky could never stop eating thanks to that serum of his, and Shang-Chi just had a bottomless pit for a stomach).
Now that you were out of the area, the men turned their attention to Shang-Chi, while Katy grinned, grabbed some chips, and sat back for the show.
“Ah, big brother time?” Shang-Chi asked.
“Damn straight,” Sam agreed and looked quickly to make sure you weren’t coming. “We love that girl. She’s been through absolute shit, and it doesn’t help that our boy contributed to that.”
“She seems happy with you, so we’re not going to rip you limb from limb just yet,” Bucky added. “But don’t take her for granted, got it? You are the luckiest kid on the planet right now.”
“That’s right,” Sam nodded. “And if we ever find out you hurt her or break her heart, we’re flying down here, and we are going to make another viral video out of you.”
Katy cringed, “Is this turning into a snuff film?”
“What? Ew, no,” Bucky cringed. “No, no one is doing any of that right now! Or in the future, it would just be murder -- we’re getting at murdering your best friend here.”
“Ah, right.” Katy nodded and ate her chips. “Continue.”
Shang-Chi laughed, “Really, Katy?”
“What? We both know when the time comes that I’ll just start singing the lyrics to Hotel California and they’ll get distracted quick enough that you can kick their asses. Easy.”
“Oh, kick our asses?” Sam asked. “No, no, no, I don’t think so.”
“I don’t know, man, I’m kind of born for this, “Shang-Chi joked.
“No one is kicking anyone’s asses, you children,” You remarked as you returned to the living room and stood behind Bucky.
Shang-Chi watched as you and Bucky spoke to each other in Spanish, the only two in the room who oculd understand what the other was saying, and he wondered if this is what you felt like when he and Katy would make a secret joke to one another. He watched as you laughed and smacked his shoulder, the one word he did understand you calling him was ‘idiota’, as Bucky joined you in laughing and explained to Sam, who asked, that they were just making fun of him and his dumb wings. Shang-Chi wasn’t sure he believed that at all, but he didn’t need to ask.
After pizza and beers were consumed, Sam and Bucky said they were going to a hotel. You had offered them to stay, but they both shared a look before shaking their heads and commenting that they’d leave too early in the morning and didn’t want to disturb you. Katy offered to split an Uber with them, which is exactly what they ended up doing, as Shang-Chi stood behind to help you clean up and talk to you.
“You should see them more often,” He commented as he washed dishes.
You raised an eyebrow, “What?”
“Your friends, your family, you know, back in New York? You should see them more often,” He told you as he washed the dishes in the sink and rinsed them. “They care about you, a lot, obviously.”
You chuckled, “Wow, that’s rich.”
He sighed and shut off the water, “Look. I know I’m the absolute last person talking about lives we left behind and family, but..they came all the way here to check on you, to make sure you were okay. They came here to see who you were hanging out with and who you were seeing. Those guys love you in their own kind of silly, childish way, and I think they just miss you and want to make sure you’re okay and taking care of yourself, since they can’t look after you.”
You sighed and sat on the counter next to where he was standing. He leaned against the sink and stared at you as you spoke to him, “Steve told them to look after me. Which was annoying. Like, you left me, and now you want our friends to look after me because you broke our vows? Fuck off.” You shrugged and let your head roll back as you stared at the ceiling. “Sometimes it’s just hard looking at them and remembering what we all had together.”
Shang-Chi jumped onto the counter next to you and wrapped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you in to rest on him as he hugged you, “At least you still got them in your life, and you know they’re there for you. Try to focus on that.”
You nodded and sighed heavily, “How’d you get so wise?”
“Oh, you know, being me. Being awesome,” He grinned while you rolled your eyes. “Come on, the Winter Soldier and Captain America like me. I’m so awesome.”
“They like a show called Dog Cops too, that’s not high praise.”
“Hey!” He gasped as you jumped off the counter and ran away from him, “Get back here! How dare you compare me to a show called Dog Cops?! Is that even real?!”
“It’s a high honor!” You lied, “Totally not the dumbest show written in existence!”
“Are you saying I’m dumb?”
“I’m saying, thank god you’re so pretty,” you retorted.
You shrieked when he caught up to you and whacked you over the head with a pillow. You ran away from him in search of your own pillow from the sofa and ended up having a completely overpowered, ridiculous pillow fight in the living room that ended in the both of you laughing on top of each other in a mess of feathers and stuffing, panting as you draped yourselves over the sofa.
“Hey, there’s a letter here,” Shang-Chi took the note and raised his eyebrows. “Oh.”
“Oh?” You snatched it out of his hand and read it.
Hey, kids! Don’t forget to use protection. Some of us are too young to be grandparents yet. Some of us. And don’t forget to give us a call once in awhile, we’re still family, you nerd. But seriously, condoms.
Love, your favorites.
You groaned, “I hate them.”
“No, you don’t,” Shang-Chi chuckled, “But on the subject of condoms....I feel like there’s more activities for us to do today.”

May I have Shang-Chi from marvel with #3?
A/N - WOOHOO! I love this for Shang Chi, thanks for requesting this, anon!
6 Years
Summary - Katy wants to hear the story, again.
Warnings - Just some fluff
“Come on, you gotta tell me again!”
“I told you this story already, Katy,”
“I know, but she[’s better at telling the story than you,”
“Gee, thanks,” You said laughing as you leaned back in your chair, Shang Chi’s arm behind yours on the backrest as Katy was sitting across from you two in the deserted karaoke bar. Shang took a good look at you, having you shrug as you looked over at Katy and shifted in your chair.
“It started about 3 weeks ago,” You explained to her, seeing Katy watch in wrapped attention as you kept going with the story, “Shang over here was convinced we need to get a deep dish pizza, at 12:30 in the morning,”
“In my defense,” Shang interrupted lightly in his chair, “I was craving it all day and I knew the only place in all of San Francisco that did deep dish after midnight: Papa Johnny’s, remember?”
“Duh,” Katy replied with a wave off to him, “Don’t interrupt and let her talk!”
“Anyways,” You said, Shang rolling his eyes as you chuckled, “I went along with him because I was also hungry, and there was nothing else to do after I finished that one paper I was working on. So we go, and this one had the genius idea to take the trolly. Word of advice Katy: never take the trolly after midnight. Some of the weirdest people there, including Shang,”
“Hey!” Shang said, poking your side as you giggled.
“That’s when you found out?” Katy asked, you both shaking your heads.
“Nope, not on the trolly. We made it to the pizza parlor and had the deepish he wanted: Cheese with extra cheese. I had to hand it to him, it was quite delicious and really good at 12:30 in the morning,”
“Totally called it,” Shang replied with a smug, thought you smacked him with your hand and he laughed, “I’m just saying, I knew it was going to be good!”
“After that, we were heading on our way home when the rain storm hit,” You went on with the story, grinning from the memory, “We tried to get a trolly but we missed the last one of the night. So we walked.”
“In the rain?” Katy asked, you and Shang nodding as Katy gave a mocking romantic look, “How romantic. That’s when you knew, right?”
“Not just yet,” Shang answered for her, “We both braved the rain and hid under cover at one of those pop-up pawn shops that were a block away from my place, the rain was coming down so hard we didn’t want to risk it. So we were stranded for a good twenty minutes, and that’s when I kissed her.”
You beamed as Katy was mockingly throwing up, though some patrons around you were staring from hearing the noise. Shang just glared at Katy as she laughed.
“It’s so cute it's gross, okay?” She asked with a shrug to him.
“And that…that is where we knew we loved each other,” You ended the story for her, looking from Katy over at Shang who was smiling just as big as you were. It made your inside all warm and soothing, replaying that moment under the awning of the pawn shop with pouring rain around you and Shang pulling you in for a kiss. It felt like heaven, even with the shivering cold from the rain and the small stale taste of the pizza on your tongue. You still felt sparks from Shang, literally sparks in your stomach and all around your fingers and toes.
“Man….your first soulmate date,” Katy said in a gasp, leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms, “Was it all it was meant to be and more?”
“I kind of wished I had more planned out, but I think it was perfect anyways,” Shang explained, though you rolled your eyes.
“I thought it was perfect, I wouldn’t change it,” You countered with him, “As far as soulmate dates go, ours is up there.”
“It’s true, I’ve heard of worst ones,” Katy hummed at Shang, “Like my second cousin’s first soulmate date: the stuff of literal nightmares. Just be thankful that you two knew each other before you found out you were soulmates,”
You looked down at the small mark on your hand near your thumb, a distinct birthmark in the shape of a crescent on the space between your thumb and pointer finger. It was a mark you were born with, always wondering who had the same mark themselves and if you were ever going to meet him. Going through your childhood into your teen years, you still held onto that wonder and onto that notion of who it was. When you would meet them. What they would be like.
That all changed on Shang’s first day at your school.
Up until that point, you hide your mark on your hand, not wanting others to see and ask you twenty questions on if you ever met your soulmate or found them. It wasn’t that you lost your hope for finding your soulmate, you would rather focus on other things and not too much on hope. Shang first was your friend, meeting you through Katy and you two ended up good friends all the way through high school and beyond. He was wonderful with you as a friend, you felt butterflies every once in a while with him because of his humor and his kindness to others.
Finally, after one night hanging out together 1 month ago with Katy at your apartment, your sleeve slipped and your mark was showing. Shang saw it, his eyes going big and he looked like he went into shock. You were about to ask him what was going on when he looked at you dead in the eyes, reaching down to move down the sock on his right leg.
A crescent, just like yours.
“I can’t believe my two best friends are soulmates, and it only took them about 6 years to figure It out!” Katy said in a huff.
“Thank you for the reminder, Katy,” You thanked her, though she winked and gestured to the bar behind her.
“I’ll get us another round of drinks,” She explained as she got up and literally skipped over. You and Shang exchanged looked, Shang let you lean over to rest your head on his shoulder.
“Did you ever wish we got together sooner?” Shang asked you in curiosity.
“God no,” You replied, “We needed to be friends first before we realized we were soulmates. I think it worked out perfectly,”
“Me too,” Shang agreed, kissing the side of your head as you both watched Katy come back with three drinks in hand.
Yeah, 6 years of friendship and then being soulmates was perfect for you two.
The End.

You can find the plot of this AU linked below. Thank you to le thot squad for filling my brain with thots of this man bc he's the one thing keeping me motivated for my last semester of college :')
Navigation | Main Masterlist | Shang-Chi/Shangqi Masterlist | Teach Me Tonight AU
Becoming professor!Shangqi’s TA (and lover) was a journey in itself.
While you were his student, you would visit his office hours to continue the back and forth exchanges during discussions. With each visit to his office hours, you found yourself catching feelings for him, but never pursued anything since you were his student.
After finals, Shangqi invited you to a coffee date off campus where no one would see you. It turns out the reason he invited you to coffee was to ask you to be his TA for the upcoming semester. Of course, you accepted without hesitation.
Feeling more bold than usual, you would brush your foot against his leg to test how he would react to it. He would react by staring at your lips and licking his own. You didn't know in the moment, but playing footsies with him made him hard.
By the time the date was over, it was pretty obvious neither of you wanted it to end. When you reached your car, you exchanged goodbyes before you decided to hug him. He pulled away to stare into your eyes and you simply replied with “You can kiss me if you want.” Shangqi let out a laugh before holding your cheeks to press his lips against yours. After the kiss, you both finally confessed your feelings to one another before you followed him to his place to relieve all your sexual tension from the semester.
You both started seeing each other in secret and managed to sneak around with no suspicions from faculty or other students. If you weren’t by his side during his office hours or lectures, you were at his place either studying or fucking each other silly. Sometimes, you did both simultaneously.
And you could never forget all the times he would cancel office hours just to bend you over your desk and pound you from behind. It’s not like anyone came to his office hours to begin with.
Whenever you would be at his home, you both liked working close to each other whether it be in bed or in his study. If you were both working in his study, you would be sprawled out on the small couch while he would be at his desk.
“You know studying like that isn’t good for your back,” he’d say without taking his eyes off his laptop.
Then you would reply with, “To be fair, you’ve fucked me in crazier positions so I think I’ll be good.” Shangqi would chuckle and continue clicking away at the keyboard.
An hour later, he would push his screen down to check on you and find you knocked out with your head buried in your notes. The drool dripping from your mouth would stain the lined paper, turning your notes into a blue blob.
You were so deep in your sleep that Shangqi would be able to grab your notes and laptop from underneath you and move it to the ground. He’d even throw a blanket over you and kiss you on the head, but you still wouldn’t move a muscle.
Sometimes, he’d join you on the couch and adjust you so then your head would lay in his lap. He’d continue grading papers while stroking your hair. You would start rolling around, indicating you were about to wake up, and once you finally fluttered your eyes open, he would smile down at you and rub the side of your face you fell asleep on.
“Still with me, bub?” He’d coo as you started to come to your senses. You would lightly giggle, “Yeah, I’m here, baby.”
It’s safe to say that he was a soft dom in bed who loved to praise you. He also loved to worship your body and could spend hours caressing and kissing your skin.
“So beautiful, bub,” he would mumble in between kisses against your inner thigh. “Always so beautiful.”
Ever since you slept with him after the coffee date, Shangqi opened your mind and pussy to so many new things in the bedroom. He loved how you were so willing to try something new, which you would find to enjoy. The more trust you had in each other, the hotter and kinkier the sex became.
The first time he made you squirt was something you and Shangqi would never forget. With the mixture of his fingers rapidly pressing against your G-spot and the vigorous sucking on your clit, you lost control of your body. You were mortified because you got his whole face and glasses wet.
But Shangqi simply yanked his glasses off and smirked. “That was so fucking hot! I wanna make you do that over and over again.” And that is exactly what he did.

I am nothing but a simp for this man. If you haven’t seen Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, do it! It’s so good! 100% in the top 5 favourite Marvel movies of all time! Simu Liu is a god!!!
Life had a funny way of turning itself upside down. The first time it’d happened for Y/N was when her mom had put her in a car at the age of six telling her they’d be going on a road trip, but instead, she’d left her at the doors of a mansion in California. Turned out it was the house of the one and only Tony Stark. Her mom had left a note in the pocket of her coat, claiming she was the product of their one-night stand. Now, Y/N knew it was a lie, but Tony had taken her in. He’d raised her and treated her as if she was his own, so when he’d gotten taken by the Ten Rings, it had shattered her world. That was the first time, she became aware of her powers, as an earthquake rippled all across the continent. She wished she could say the Ten Rings were the end of it, the betrayal of Obadiah a conclusion, but no. There came more and more villains, in a never ending stream, not only from Earth, but from outer space, beings claiming to be gods, wanting to put their rule on others or wipe half the universe out. But funnily enough, how she ended up in the arms of the man who was the son of the creator of the same terrorist organization who’d kidnapped her dad, who’d started it all, was beyond Y/N, but she wasn’t complaining. At that point, after everything she’d been through, Shang-Chi was the only thing that made sense.
Sun was streaming in through the small first-floor window, golden rays cascading over their bodies. Shang-Chi’s soft snores invaded her ears, and his strong heartbeat echoed her own. A pleasant soreness had spread throughout her body, a little reminded of their escapades during the night. A small smile erupted on her face as she recalled his head between her legs and many more positions they’d been in. “Don’t,” Shang-Chi groaned, tightening his hold on her before mumbling something in Y/N’s Y/H/C hair she couldn’t quite discern. Gently she laid her palm on his chest, tracing invisible love confessions on his skin. “Come again?” This time it was him who grinned. “I did,” he said, and received a smack on his peck, but he just chuckled. “I meant don’t wake up. It’s too early. And it’s a Saturday. Let’s sleep in, let’s cuddle the whole day away.” Y/N sighed, relaxing her body against his, and closed her eyes. “Wish I could. But the world won’t save itself. Besides, don’t you have the evening shift with Katy?” Despite him having become a literal Avenger alongside her, he still retained his day job, and Y/N’s day job hadn’t changed since she’d snuck into the tower while Loki was trying to take over New York and flung him out of the window with her powers, a green cape the only thing left on the floor where she’d accidentally stepped on it. Shang-Chi sighed and moved them in a position he could better look at Y/N, better appreciate the girl in his arms. “But can’t you like, let this one get handled by Spider-man or the Hulk? We could go to karaoke or something.” He gently traced the outline of her lips with his thumb. “We haven’t had a date night in ages.” “I know,” Y/N said, and pressed a kiss to the pad of his thumb. “But I promised to take part in this one. Sam and Buck are counting on me.” Her boyfriend nodded, but his eyebrows were furrowed. She and Bucky had… history. He knew only bits and pieces, and honestly, Shang-Chi wasn’t sure he’d stay level-headed enough while hearing the whole truth, so he was content knowing just the bits Y/N had deigned important enough to share. “Hey, look at me.” Her fingers gently gripped his chin, and Shang-Chi’s eyes finally met hers. “You’re the only one I’ve ever let in the kitchen with me while I’ve been making food. That means we’re practically married.” It was like she could read his mind, easing his anxieties just when he needed. A brilliant smile erupted on his face. “Does it?” “Yeah.” She smiled, cupping his cheek. “In my book, if I’m not throwing you out of the room while cooking, it means that’s it. You’re done. I have laid my claim, and you have no chance of escaping. ” Shang-Chi hummed, leaning into Y/N’s touch. “Honestly – never been happier to be a hostage.” “A hostage?” Y/N quirked a brow. “It seems to me in this relationship, I’ve been the only one that’s gotten tied up.” “Hey!” His fingers dug into her sides, making her shriek and cackle. “You know I’m more than happy to try out whatever the hell you want. But I do draw a line at fire.” “Damn.” She dropped her head to his chest as if in defeat. “And here goes my plans of lighting your hair on fire.” “You wouldn’t dare harm these luscious locks!” And that’s how the rest of their morning went. Bantering and kissing, groaning as the other got out of the bed and tried to pull them with, Y/N becoming a koala bear hanging onto his back as Shang-Chi made them quick breakfast, and sitting in his lap, as they enjoyed it while in bed. After that, they got ready in comfortable silence, Y/N packing Shang-Chi’s duffle bag, which he always allowed her to use, as most of her stuff was in the New York Avenger’s tower, and she left a copy of her suit at this place just in case. Katy had texted him a bit earlier to ask if he wanted to get lunch together, but before that he’d decided to run a few errands. “Suit, gloves, shoes,” Y/N was muttering underneath her breath as she listed off the things she’d need for the mission. “Don’t forget the first aid kit,” Shang-Chi shouted from the small bathroom, toothbrush still in his mouth. Even though he couldn’t see it, she gave him a thumbs-up, and placed a comm inside her ear, just so she wouldn’t forget it. One time she had while on a mission in the Amazonian jungle, and none of her teammates could contact her after getting separated. It took Steve and Wanda three days before they located her passed out from under some bushes and covered in mud. “I left it in the bag,” she’d mumbled as Steve had carried her back to the jet, her body dehydrated and tired with a deep gash along her thigh. “`S not my fault that thing’s so tiny I wouldn’t feel it even if I put it up my ass.” Patting herself down one last time to make sure she had her phone and keys, Y/N slung the bag across her shoulder. “We’re thinking it’ll take about a week tops, but I’ll let you know through F.R.I.D.A.Y if anything changes.” She’d wrapped her around Shang-Chi’s neck, who’d watched with a kicked-puppy look the last of Y/N’s packing. “And please don’t worry about me. I’ve done this like a bajillion times.” “I always worry.” He pouted even harder. “Kind of in the job description of being a husband.” Y/N’s fingers trailed up the line of buttons, and she had to suppress a grin when a shudder went down his whole body. “And I kind of like the sound of that.” “Of what? Me actually worrying about you?” “No.” She bit the inside of her cheek. “Of you calling yourself my husband. I like it a lot actually.” That made a certain silence settle between them, as both of them mulled over the words said. Neither could say they hadn’t thought of where their future would take, but with Shang-Chi learning how to be an Avenger, and Y/N not ready to give it up as her full-time work, it left certain things unsaid, especially if they got married. “What if – what if when you get back, we actually do it?” Y/N looked up so fast her head almost knocked against Shang-Chi’s nose and that would definitely have been a disaster. She’d broken Clint’s nose once while both of them were doing the ‘Bend and Snap’, and she didn’t want to repeat history. Noses could bleed so much. “What do you mean?” Shang-Chi let out a breath and took her smaller hands in his. He loved just how perfectly they fit together. “When you come back from the mission, let’s get married.” “Are –,” Y/N was absolutely speechless, mind going a mile a minute. “Are you proposing?” “Very badly, but, yes.” He let out a deep breath before pressing his forehead to hers. “Marry me. Give me the honour of being your husband. I’ve been looking at this one ring, and I’ve been saving up for it. I almost have enough to -,” but he didn’t get a chance to finish when Y/N’s lips on his stopped his ramblings. “Is…” Shang-Chi was breathless, but not willing to open his eyes, hoping that what the kiss meant wouldn’t evaporate if he did. “Is that a yes?” “It’s an `I don’t need a ring, to want to spend the rest of my life with you`. It’s a `yes` a million times over.” He could cry. He was pretty sure he was crying, as Y/N’s hands cupped his cheeks and her calloused thumbs wiped under his eyes. Instinctively he kissed the tops of her hands. “I’ll get that ring while you’re on the mission.” He finally opened his eyes to see Y/N’s so full of love, he almost choked. “Shang-Chi…” “No.” He shook his head. “I’ll get that ring, and when you come back, I’ll make us dinner, I’ll romance the shit out of you, and then I’ll – I’ll do it properly.” “I can’t talk you into just making me some Pho and giving me a massage can I?” “Absolutely not,” he chuckled, pressing his forehead to hers, and then lowering his voice. “I’ll propose how I should’ve. The way you deserve to be proposed to.” Y/N sighed, relishing in the moment. “Well, then I guess, I’ll have to kick some Hydra ass as quick as possible.” “Yes. You. Will.” Each word was accentuated by a kiss. Y/N let out a content sigh as she relished in the kisses given to her. Shang-Chi definitely knew how to make it impossible for her to leave, but gave more reasons for her to return. She had to physically push him away and create an arm’s length distance between them, otherwise, she would’ve ripped off his clothes just like the previous evening. “World… ending,” she panted, pointing at the door behind her, but shamelessly raking her gaze over his kiss-swollen lips and the shirt buttons she’d unconsciously opened. “I – go.” “Yeah, yeah.” He raked a hand through his hair, nodding and biting his lower lip. “Yeah, you do that. Go – umm – save it and stuff.” “Okay. Cool. I’ll see you in – in a week.” Shang-Chi hummed. “See you in a week. I – uh – I love you.” Y/N’s heart slowed into a steady thrum. When she’d been with Bucky, whenever he’d said that, it’d made her heart race, her body alight with desire, but when she was with Shang-Chi, whenever he muttered those words she couldn’t get enough, was when she realized what truly was like to be in love. It was serenity. The assuredness of the feelings and of your own. Security of having a home to come to. A slow, steady beat you knew wouldn’t falter. “I love you too.” His smile was the last thing she saw before the door closed, and she had to focus on saving the world once again, but god, could she care less about it when she had Shang-Chi to get back to.
***
Shang-Chi was a light sleeper, but even a lighter one when Y/N was away. Despite her being one of the heirs to the Stark empire, and a literal billionaire, she’d always smile as if entering paradise when coming back to his dingy refurbished garage apartment. The first time he’d invited her over, he’d apologized a million times, feeling as though the date had been not up to her standards at all, as all he could afford was to take her out bowling, and she deserved fancier, so his apartment being the size of a shoebox, made him want to crawl in a hole, but Y/N had just shaken her head and pulled his mouth down to hers. He’d practically melted against hers. “I wouldn’t care if you lived in the basement of Katy’s parent’s apartment. It’s not what makes a home.” She hadn’t elaborated on that, and he couldn’t ask more as her lips moved against his and all rational thought slipped away, nimble fingers unbuttoning his shirt. Now he understood though – Y/N was his home, so when the safety and warmth were taken away by her literally putting her life on the line, it was hard to feel content, especially when it’d been close to three weeks now since she’d been gone, with a single check-in from F.R.I.D.A.Y announcing they had to go `under the grid`, he could barely get any sleep. It’s why he was up at three AM by the small stove, cooking himself some dim-sum and then some to freeze for a later time, fingers expertly pleating each little dumping closed with the gentleness of a butterfly’s wings flap. He was just about to start placing them in the steamer, when hushed voices just outside the flat, took his attention. Shang-Chi could discern there were two of them, two men from the low baritone tones, but there were more than two pairs of feet, as something in between the steps was dragging along the ground, but would take a step from time to time. Then what only could be a person thudded against his door, before keys jingled and it was unlocked. Shang-Chi’s body was overcome with relief as they opened, immediately recognizing his love’s stealth suit, but it was short-lived when Y/N stumbled in, half dragged by the one and only Captain America and Bucky Barnes, the left side of her suit ripped to shreds and bleeding profusely. For just a second, he was too stunned to move, to breathe or even think, but as Y/N got caught behind the leg of a chair, Shang-Chi was brought back to the horrible reality and sprang into action. Arms went under her own, and Y/N pretty much sagged against his chest, a pained whimper escaping her lips. “We were going to the tower when she literally rewrote F.R.I.D.A.Y.`s code to bring her here.” Bucky sighed as Sam rushed into the flat without so much so as a `hello` and went to the faucet filling up a kettle and putting it to boil, before rushing to the bathroom and coming back with towels. “Yes,” Sam said through gritted teeth as he helped Shang-Chi adjust Y/N on the bed. “And then she promptly passed out. I don’t have clearance yet to override a Stark’s command. Asshole.” He threw Y/N a pissed off look, who just groaned as Shang-Chi was trying to unzip her clothes. You couldn’t just cut through them, but at the same time, the zipper was so caked with mud, debris and blood, it’d gotten stuck. “Off,” she mumbled, hitting Sam’s arm. “He’s trying, Y/N/N. It’s just stuck.” “No,” she shook her head. “Shoes. Off. Can’t come inside the house with shoes. ‘S rude.” The last bit was slurred and almost incomprehensible. “Love, I really don’t care about that right now,” Shang-Chi said, voice trembling a bit, as finally, he got the suit open, but he wished he could close it back up. Broken ribs were sticking out through the skin, black blotches of clear internal bleeding so big they covered half of her chest and then some, but what was worse was the blood. So much blood, he was shocked she was still conscious. He was terrified to know how much she’d already lost. Y/N furrowed her brows, and made a little flick of her hand, throwing Sam on his ass, and he scoffed, while she grumbled. “Shoes – off!” Sam was furious by that point, as he pretty much ripped off his combat boots. “What the hell is wrong with you, Starks! You’re literally dying right now, and your concern is shoes?” “Shoes!” she grumbled, not backing down, despite Bucky by her side with a bowl of steaming hot water and dipping the towels into it. “This is going to hurt a lot, so you’ll have to hold her down,” Bucky instructed, and Shang-Chi nodded, as he and Sam both got ready to keep Y/N on the bed, the latter of the men, sitting down atop her thighs, while he himself wrapped a strong arm around her collarbone. The second the towel touched Y/N’s skin, her back arched up as a scream ripped out from her throat and things went flying in the apartment as her powers flared up in protest, trying to protect her body from the pain. Shang-Chi’s heart broke at the sound. He’d never heard her like that, not even when his father had obscured her powers with the Ten Rings and had let Death Dealer torture her to get information as to what Shang-Chi or Xialing had told her, nor when she faced off with the Dweller in Darkness, one of it’s massive claws ripping through her shoulder. “It’s alright,” he whispered in Y/N’s ear, as Bucky removed pieces of stone, and glass, and broken off bone that couldn’t remain in her body. “I’ve got you, love. I’ll always have you.” A sob escaped Y/N’s mouth, her whole body shuddering in pain, but it seemed like his words were all she needed; his presence enough to calm her, as things around them slowly dropped to the floor, and her frame relaxed as much as it could to let Bucky finish off the job, with minimal movement from her part. By the time Bucky had managed to stitch up the last of the wounds, it was already close to five AM, and Y/N had promptly passed out the second the last wrapping was wrapped around her torso. Like covering a sleeping princess, Shang-Chi had laid their blanket over her, tucking it in. “What happened?” His voice was hoarse with unshed tears. He hated the pallor that’d come over her skin from the blood loss. It reminded him too much of what his mother and father looked like after they’d died. Shang-Chi closed his hand around her wrist and pressed a finger to the inside of it. Slow, steady thuds responded, so he focused on that. Sam had grabbed a glass of water and had leaned against the kitchen counter. “She got caught in a trap. Was in a room that was lined with explosives. She tried to go through the window, but shrapnel caught her side and not only that, but she took a nasty fall on some rubble, ripping everything open.” Bile rose in Shang-Chi’s throat, but he pressed it down. “By the time we got to her, she was up and at it,” Sam continued. “Girl tried to hide a hole in her stomach like we wouldn’t notice. Had to fight her to let me see what was wrong in the first place.” Shang-Chi shook his head. That sounded concerningly like Y/N, but he couldn’t say much. He was just thankful she was back with him, as he settled down on the edge of the bed and took one of her hands in his palm, rubbing his thumb over her bruised knuckles. “Is there a shower or a bath we could use?” Sam asked, after picking up the bloodied rags and taking the red-stained bowl of water. “Uh, yeah.” Shang-Chi nodded and gestured to the single other door in the flat. “There should be enough water for both of you. Please. Use anything you’d like.” Sam nodded. “Thanks, man. I’ll be quick.” When the bathroom door locked, it left him and Bucky all alone, an uncomfortable silence settling over the two. “Coffee? Tea?” Shang-Chi offered, trying to break the tension in the room. “I have some dim-sum on – oh, shit!” Shang-Chi jumped up from the side of the bed. “The dim-sum!” “Don’t worry.” Bucky waved a hand and then dragged it across his face, exhaustion clearly evident on his features. “Turned the stove off when I went to pour the water.” “Oh. Thank you.” Bucky just hummed and nodded, not letting his gaze off Y/N. Shang-Chi wanted to tell him to stop, to not look at her the way he looked at her. But he couldn’t because Shang-Chi more than most understood what it was to love her and how big of a privilege it was to be loved by her. “Don’t waste it,” Bucky mumbled Shang-Chi’s eyes flitting back from Y/N’s sleeping form to be met with an ice-blue gaze. “What?” “The chance you’ve got with her.” Bucky swallowed looking at the unconscious girl lying in the bed. “`Cause I did, and I’ve never regretted something more in my life. And I’ve done a lot of regrettable things. So,” he cleared his throat and stood up, brushing off some dirt and going to the bathroom right as Sam came out of it, steam rising behind. “Don’t waste it.” The Captain’s gaze went back and forth between Shang-Chi and the door Bucky had disappeared behind, before settling on Y/N. He didn’t say anything. He understood, and he understood it needed to stay between them. “Thank you.” Sam lifted his jacket from the floor and threw it over his arm. Despite it being October and quite chilly, it was too filthy to put on. “If she gets any worse, do take her to a hospital no matter what she says, but F.R.I.D.A.Y’s pretty sure, Y/N will do all the healing on her own, so just – rest. A lot of it.” Shang-Chi nodded and sighed. “Don’t worry. I’ll tie her to the bed if I have to.” Sam snorted at that and nodded. “That girl wouldn’t know any good if it kicked her in the face, but…” He bit his lip and looked at the other man. “But I think this time, she did. And I’m glad she grabbed you by the hand and didn’t let go. Someone who clearly loves her as much as you is the least she deserves.” Shang-Chi’s throat closed up, and all he could do was give an appreciative nod. “It’s uh, it’s the least I can give.” Sam patted him on the shoulder, before leaning down and giving Y/N a kiss on the forehead. “Take care of her.” “I will.” That was a promise Shang-Chi had no plans on ever breaking. Quietly Sam picked up his stuff and exited from the flat, but it seemed that even the gentle closing of the door was enough to awaken Y/N, Y/E/C eyes blearily blinking, trying to adjust to the light of the room. “Hey,” Shang-Chi cooed, pushing away some strands of hair that’d gotten stuck to her face from all the sweat and blood. He’d cleaned her up as best as he could while Bucky had finished patching up the last of her wounds, and no longer needed to have her be held down, but still, she’d need a really long shower once she got back on her feet. “How do you feel?” Y/N let out a deep breath and leaned her head towards where Shang-Chi’s fingers caressed her cheek. “Like the good old times when Katy almost ran me over with that bus.” Shang-Chi took hold of Y/N’s hand and pressed a kiss to her knuckles, as he chuckled. “They told me you overrode the system to take you here, not to the tower. And I appreciate that. A lot. But why in the world would you do such a stupid thing?” “Because I thought I was going to die,” she answered him honestly, and Shang-Chi swore his heart stopped. He couldn’t ever imagine a world without her anymore, and that kind of possibility didn’t exist. Not to him. He gulped, pressing his forehead against their entwined hands. “Then I understand it even less.” Y/N let out a small sigh before lifting her free hand to cup his face. “Because the only thing I could think about while bleeding out, was `I want to go home`. So, even if I was gonna die there, on the floor of the jet, I’d die knowing I did everything I could to get there. To get to you.” Slowly he lifted his head to look at her and rested his chin on their hands before a smile broke out on his face, a tear rolling down his cheek. “I hate how much I love you.” A mirrored smile came onto Y/N’s own lips. “No, you don’t.” “No, I don’t,” he let out a broken sob, shaking his head. “Could never hate you.” She hummed, closing her eyes, and Shang-Chi watched her chest rise and fall in a rhythm that somewhat calmed him. Her pulse had gotten stronger, and her breathing wasn’t as laboured. He still thought he should get her to a hospital, but he knew, with her powers being connected to nature, she’d pull from it and knit herself back together quicker than a spider makes a web. He just felt useless not being able to do it for her. “Something smells good,” she mumbled, glancing towards the stove. “Midnight snacking?” “Couldn’t sleep,” he shrugged. She quirked a brow. “So you decided to turn our kitchen into a food stall? I can see the spring roll wrappers hiding on the counter.” “Hey, I’m a growing Avenger, I need to eat!” That made Y/N chuckle, but she instantly winced, as the motion pulled at her stitches and her beaten-up side, Shang-Chi’s hand gently laying over the bandages and soothingly rubbing the place, but not adding any pressure. “Don’t hurt yourself even more.” He cleared his throat, as Y/N laid back against the pillows. “You need to take it easy for the next few weeks. I can’t have you get stressed about the wedding while you’re still healing.” Her eyes widened at his words. “You still wanna marry me? Even after all of… this?” She gestured with a hand to herself. Shang-Chi shrugged. “You said yes even after the whole Dweller in Darkness thing. Why wouldn’t I? I know what I signed up for.” His gaze was so sure, it made a breath get stuck in Y/N’s throat. “You’re my home too, and I’ll fight for it with every heartbeat.” “Romantic bastard,” Y/N choked out, wiping away the tears rolling down her cheeks, and Shang-Chi let out a breathless laugh, as he leaned over to the small bedside table and opened a drawer, taking out a small red box. She knew what was inside, but swore her heart stopped still. “I – uh – I promised I’d do it properly, so…” Shang-Chi took in a deep breath and slid down from the bed to rest on both his knees, opening the ring box to reveal a gorgeous rose gold circlet with a single smoky diamond cut in a teardrop shape sitting on a small velvet cushion. “Y/N Stark,” he started. “You’re an absolute hurricane, and if I die, it’s probably because you gave me a heart attack. You’ve jumped off of buildings and fought soul-sucking demons, and fought interstellar gods. You are way out of my league, but somehow you’ve chosen me of all people to share your love with. And if you give me the chance, I’ll try my best to make however long we have together, the best of our lives. And uh,” Shang-Chi choked on his words. “I wish I could’ve met your father, I wish I could’ve promised him all that I’m promising you now, and I can only hope he’d think I’m good enough for you, but will you do me the honour of marrying me?” “Yes.” She didn’t even wait a blink before she responded, and Shang-Chi took the ring out, slipping it gently onto her bruised finger to rest there for the rest of their lives. “And just so you know, my dad would’ve loved you.” She got the words out through a suppressed sob, mainly because she knew if she started crying, she wouldn’t stop. “I love you, so that’s all that’d matter to him.” Gently, so that he wouldn’t hurt her, he leaned over and kissed Y/N on her lips. They were chapped and split in places, but Shang-Chi’s heart soared, knowing he’d get to kiss them for forever. “It’s beautiful,” she whispered marvelling how it glinted, as he pulled back and pressed his forehead to her temple. “Absolutely gorgeous.” “And you said you didn’t need a ring.” “Well it was mostly the thought of tying you up, that fueled my want to get back here, but honestly.” She lifted her hand in the air, letting the dim lights catch the smoky diamond in the centre of the band. “Can’t say I don’t like how it looks on my finger.” And the most brilliant smile lit up the room. Bucky had to turn away from the crack in the door when he saw it. Because there had been a time that smile was lighting up his world, yet he’d thrown it away because of his insecurities. The reason Y/N had a gaping hole in the side was because she’d thrown him out of the way of the trap. He’d been cornered, just about to be pushed where that god-awful chair that’d scrambled his brain for decades resided, yet without even thinking of herself, Y/N had come in between him and it. Between all the Hydra soldiers coming for them. After that, it was a blur. She’d thrown him away with a blast of wind, but a blitz attack from the side had thrown her into a seemingly innocent-looking office. And then the door had closed. That’s all he knew up until a blast shook the whole building. Finding Y/N holding her side while limping up a hill to where they’d stashed the Quin-jet, had been a shower of relief, up until she crashed on the floor, gasping for air and groaning in pain. It took Y/N breaking up with him to understand she was the best he’d ever had. It took her literally dragging her mangled body across the jet to override Sam’s command, to understand that he’d lost a love no one could ever match. And it took Bucky hearing her say those words to know he’d never be able to get her back. But at least she’d be happy, and no matter how bitter he might feel towards Shang-Chi, he knew the man would take care of Y/N. After all, he was her home.

A/N: so... it’s been a while. There’s a few reasons I haven’t been posting any writing, for one I have a new job! Yay!! I’ve been at it for four months now, and honestly, I’m so happy with it! I now work in the publishing industry, and it feels so great to be doing something that concerns my education. It’s a 9-5, so I get home tired, and there’s little motivation to write, but honestly, I’m just a lot happier with life.
Also, I’ve been writing my original pieces a lot, so, that’s taken up a lot of time, but I think I might be coming back to fanfics as well, so if you’re interested, let me know if you’d like to see more :)
P.S. what did you think?
P.S.S. please don’t repost my work on other platforms or translate it without my permission.
