Fic you spent the most time on: Hmmm... I don’t actually track hours of work, so I’m not sure. It’s probably either Whitewaters or Home Isn’t a Place. The former was outlined, drafted, edited, and posted within 8 months, and the last few weeks were brutal, literally half of my day almost every day could be spent working on it. Home Isn’t A Place doesn’t have nearly the same published word count, but I’ve been working on it on and off since I got the idea in November 2018. And it has a lot of background info written and a very thorough outline. 

Fic you spent the least time on: I have to assume Selfish Intentions since it was one of those “put on a song and write what comes to mind” things and what’s published is what I got down within the 7 minutes of song (with a few extra minutes to proofread).

Fave fic you wrote: Oh that’s definitely Rest For the Weary (Tsubasa Chronicle - Kurofai | 9k | Nihon Country). I set out to write exactly the kind of fic I’d wanted for that arc and by golly I did it and, for once, I did it really well. I’ve re-read it at least half-a-dozen times since finishing it and it’s still everything I’d wanted it to be. 

Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: Well I still need to finish Home Isn’t a Place (Voltron - Thulaz | Historical Fantasy | 19k), but that’s not quite the same thing. The Phoenix and the Komainu (Tsubasa Chronicle - Kurofai | AU | 26k) is also unfinished, but I’d like to start basically from scratch, rewrite the whole thing and do it better. And, you know, have a decent outline so I have a hope of finishing. That’s like, a backburner goal. Hopefully I’ll get to it eventually.

Tsuna’s never seen the guy before because Tsuna usually sits at the back of the hall in a seat right by the exit and then bolts the moment class is over to sprint all the way across campus for his next lecture. He's only heard the rumors, the complaints, the gossip around campus.

What he knows is this: 

TAs don’t often get their own articles on ratemyproffessor.com, since they’re just TAs, but Reborn, apparently, has practically broken the system by gaining the second-highest number of reviews of any professor in the entire state, which is even more impressive when you find out he’s only been a TA for the head of the math department for two years. 

Every single review (once you filter out the attractiveness category, anyway) is a zero.

-What the hell was I on in September and how do I get my hands on it again XD I went fucking insane that month doing Sapphic September twice over + a ship week. YIKES. But also like, NEVER AGAIN, I remember I was so burned out halfway through Kinktober after that and struggled to finish kinktober’s list, then I went offline for a few months and didn’t write for just as long, but also some real life shit was going down so it’s all blurred together XD

-Aaaah, look at all them rarepairs, I do so love my rares!

-Still kinda bummed that S8 killed my VLD buzz cos writing for that fandom was so much fun and I miss it, I was gonna try get back into it this year, but then found out that even previously non-toxic corners of the fandom are toxic now and nope, killed my buzz all over again.

-STILL NO BBC MERLIN?!?!?! omg was 2017 really the last time I wrote for that fandom??????? Also no Star Trek, I really thought 2018 was the year I wrote that but I guess my memory is still shit XD must have been 2017 wow, but at least there’s still new fandoms for when I get around to making a 2017/2016 list XD which will luckily be smaller cos I wrote fewer but longer fics in 2016/2017

-Overall, like 2019, 2018 was a bad year for me in terms of word count. I guess it was the beginning of my health really affecting my ability to write and my shift to accommodate for that by writing shorter things instead of trying and failing to write long fics like I used to (altho actually I think that started in 2017 really, guess I need to make the list to see XD). I’m still pretty proud though, cos I always wanted to write more sapphic content and doing sapphic september was something I didn’t think I’d manage but I did it 2x over =) and then off the heels of that success, I did Femslash Feb for HP in 2019 and some of Sapphic Sept 2019 too

-Kinktober was also super fun, even though I was a big ball of anxiety the whole time and burning out pretty badly after September. But I really got outside of my comfort zone to write several things I not only hadn’t written before, but also don’t even personally like XD I wrote a couple of my squicks and that was an interesting experience. I also gained a few new kinks, also an interesting experience XD

One day, that serenity was shattered by two young men, twins to be exact, sitting in the English Literature section and firing off rapid Polish at a completely inexcusable volume. Derek told them to be quiet, like he'd done to dozens of other students, and that should have been the end of it.

shance fluff week 2018 - day 4 - youth

and I’m back on track for @shancefluffweek !! Here’s day 4 - youth. I wrote a sorta sequel to this fic that I wrote for shance month in January ( AO3 | Tumblr) but there’s no need to read it to understand this fic. AO3

“Shiro, for you,” says Lance proudly, holding out a small, blue envelope with small, pudgy hands. Shiro’s name is written in messy, loopy letters (Lance’s own handwriting), and there's a glittery shark sticker stuck at an odd angle in one corner. Shiro took the envelope with a small thank you and held onto it tight. Lance stares at him for a moment, expectantly, but Shiro just keeps a hold of the envelope, the paper creasing under his grip. “Open it!” Lance exclaims, bouncing on the balls of his feet. “Oh. Ok.” Carefully Shiro tears open the envelope, making sure that he doesn't accidentally damage the sticker or his name written so carefully on the front. It's the first thing he's received from his friend, and it feels special, he wants to keep it as tidy as possible.   Inside the envelope is a piece of paper that Shiro takes out and clumsily opens with one hand. “You are invited to my birthday party.” Shiro reads each word slowly, deliberately sounding out every syllable. His pronunciation is off, but he knows what it means. “It's your birthday?” 

“Yup. July twenty-eight,” Lance says with his hands on his hips, his head held high because he’s memorised his date of birth and will immediately give it out if prompted. But giving this information to Shiro prompts a very important question.   “Shiro, when is your birthday?” Shiro bows his head and shuffles his feet. “My birthday is weird…” he mumbles and then proceeds to try and explain to Lance how his birthday is on a day that only exists once every four years. Shiro is used to it. His parents explained it to him clearly, and it's kinda cool how they will let him pick if he'd rather have his birthday on the 28th of February or the first of March. He's only had his birthday on the actual day once so far, and really it wasn't any different, so it's not that weird. But most kids their age don't really understand the concept of a leap year, it's not something they need to know or particularly care about. Lance’s eyes are watering. “So ….you don't have a birthday every year.” Shiro drops the invitation and carefully opened envelope because even though they are precious gifts from Lance, the fact that Lance is crying is even more important. He rubs at Lance’s cheeks with clumsy hands, trying to wipe away the tears the way his mother does. Lance shuffles and curls into him. “I still get s birthday party and everything. It's just not the right day sometimes.” “But it's not your birthday,” Lance says emphatically. He can't quite put his frustration into words, but it's not right. It's not fair. Shiro having to move his birthday around is just so sad, and the twenty-eighth of February and the first of March are not birthdays. Lance doesn't know anyone who has a birthday on those days, at least think he does, so they are just like any other day. They are not special, and Shiro deserves to have a day that is special. “Shiro, did your birthday happen this year?” Lance asks suddenly, an idea forming.  The twenty-eighth of February isn't a special day, but the twenty-eighth of July is. “I had a party.” Shiro answers because he doesn't want to upset Lance, but his hesitant answer tells Lance all he needs to know. “Then when your birthday doesn't exist you can share mine!” Lance says fiercely, grabbing Shiro's hands tightly. “You can share my party too. I'll tell mama.” And no matter what Shiro says after that, Lance’s mind is made up. Lance talks to his mother. She knows how stubborn her son is, and the glint in his eye tells her there is no talking him around. She speaks to Shiro’s mother, and together the two women plan the unexpected addition to the party. Neither woman minds, happy their sons are close and such good friends. There are two cakes at the party, one for Lance, and one for Shiro. Both have candles. The addition of another birthday boy confuses some of the parents and gives them a laugh when the story is explained to them. The children take it in their stride and wish both boys a happy birthday just as cheerfully, and sing just as loudly for both. The pile of presents are mostly for Lance, but his mother has snuck a few in there for Shiro too, so he doesn't feel left out. They open their presents together, and Shiro doesn't care that his pile of presents is smaller. For one thing, Lance shares all if his gifts with him, but even if he didn't get a single present Shiro thinks he already has the greatest present he could ask for. Lance, his best friend. “Mama, can Shiro sleepover?” Lance asks when the party is finished, and everyone else has gone home. Lance is holding Shiro’s hand, and his grip suggests he won't let go. “I think that will be ok. If his mother allows it,” the woman smiles and then shares a look with the other woman. They thought this might happen, so Shiro's mother brought his pyjamas with them, just in case.   Both boys are tuckered out after the party, and as soon as Shiro is given permission to stay, they go to bed without complaint. Tucked up in Lance’s rocket ship bed, they fall asleep still holding hands.

Lance got really scared sometimes about what might happen to them when they’re fighting for the universe. He would sometimes tell Shiro how afraid he was of dying so young. Of dying before getting a chance to see his family again.

Shiro was always there to comfort him, just as Lance was always there for him.

This was one of those times.

There was a close call in battle that day. Too close.

Lance had a panic attack in their room earlier, and Shiro continued to hold him close even after it had passed. Shiro was still petting his hair and whispering sweet reassurances, just as he always did in times like these.

They had been in space for many years now, but the universe still wasn’t ready for them to retire from being paladins. There were many close calls during their time in space, but that didn’t make it any easier. It wasn’t uncommon for any of them to have breakdowns anymore.

“We’re going to get out of this war alive and you're going to be able to see your family again. I promise.” Shiro said.

Lance responded with a tired hum.

“And,” Shiro continued. “We’re going to grow old together. After all of this is over, we’ll live out the rest of our lives on Earth. We can get a dog and a cat, and they'll probably fight a lot but we’ll deal with it.”

Lance snorted. “That's so cheesy, Shiro. But it sounds like you've got it all figured out, huh?” The smile was evident in his voice.

The two of them had gotten engaged a few months back. They were together for a while, and both knew they wouldn’t be headed back to Earth anytime soon. So Shiro took it upon himself to find a beautiful pair of matching rings at a shop on a beautiful planet they rescued.

He kissed Lance’s hair. “Yup.”

“Oh my god. Please don't do that.” he groaned into Shiro’s chest.

He laughed. “Sorry, sorry.” Ever since the mission at Beta Traz, everyone had taken every possible opportunity to tease Lance about his mistake with the warden’s pet yupper.

The room was filled with comfortable silence, and lance spoke again a few minutes later. “Do you really think we’re going to make it back to Earth?”

Shiro was quiet for a few moments before finally answering. “Yes. In one piece? Maybe not. But we will make it back eventually.”

Lance knew Shiro was talking about his arm. It was true, any one of them could get really hurt and lose a limb just as he had. It was a scary thought, but Lance knew he had to accept it. He knew it was a possibility, since it had already happened to Shiro, after all.

“Tell me more about what our lives will be like when we get back.”

Shiro hummed. “Well, I'll have to meet your family. Do you think they’ll like me?”

“Of course they will.” he replied instantly with confidence. “What about me? Do you think your parents will approve?”

“Approve of the most talented, beautiful sharpshooter ever?” he asked with a teasing smile.

Lance went red with embarrassment. “Shiro!”

“What? It's true.” He grinned wide. “Yes, of course they'll approve of you, sweetheart.”

Lance sighed and moved from laying on Shiro’s chest to sit next to him against the wall. He rested his head on Shiro’s shoulder, who reached for Lance’s hand to give it a gentle squeeze.

“We’re going to be okay, Lance. We’re going to get married and live long enough to turn gray and wrinkly.” He said, jokingly.

“Hey, I won’t be getting wrinkly thanks to my perfect skin regimen. But you, Shiro, are already past gray.” Lance reached over and ran a hand through Shiro’s white streak of hair. Over the years, he had grown all of his hair out long.

“Oh, shush, I can’t help it. Just as your skin routine can’t prevent wrinkles.”

“Nothing can beat my space face masks. I’m telling you, Shiro, I’ll be beautiful forever! It’s a curse that I must live with for the rest of my days.” Lance said dramatically.

“The rest of your gray, wrinkly days.”

Shiro looked over to see a very unamused Lance.

SHANCELY INFO

The Shancely will last the entire month of July, with prompts (2018 - 2019) that will be one day and one day not.

I chose shance because it has become one of my favorite obses-otp and I need more shance in my life, so I told myself why not try to do this initiative, anyway try it does not hurt.

I saw your Shance art on Twitter and it looks great, but I feel the need to ask: Did something happen and, if so, is it appropriate/ permitted to offer help?

I figured I would take this time to let you all know what’s been going on. Not only to type it out for myself but a friend once told their story a long time ago…and it helped me. What if my small outlook on my life helps one of you? Who knows!

Either way, I will tell my story now! Don’t worry, this will not become a “life story blog” My art will return eventually once I get settled!

I’ll cut straight to the point. I made the hard and stressful decision to end my engagement. I was to be getting married to an absolutely wonderful man on February 15th of 2018. 

This was an extremely hard decision. He was/is my best friend…we have so much in common…we have so much fun together. He accepted all of my flaws…my extreme anxiety issues and panic attacks (Although it is not at the level it once was)

I have been in 2 very long relationships. One for about 5 years that started when I was 18 and then when we broke up…a month later I got into this one (6 ½ years)

I am 29. I have never had time for myself. I have never lived alone. I have never had independence. I have not learned important things about myself. 

“But Mal”…I say to myself...

“You are going to be 30…time is ticking.. and you want to leave this comfortable situation with someone you get along well with just to discover yourself? You love him yes, but are you in love?”

“Am I making the right decision?”

“….Will I regret it?”

“What if…”?

“What should I do..?”

“Someone just tell me what to do…”

but no one could, and I knew this. 

If I did not do this…I will always wonder…It’s not fair to him to stay with him just because I don’t want to hurt him. 

It’s the scariest thing…the unknown. Even now if you are reading this, you won’t fully understand unless you yourself go through it. 

But I have learned something as I have gotten older. 

That it is with these decisions, no matter what I had chosen, I am growing as a person. 

I am shaping myself.

You only have one life. 

What is it that you want to do with it?

I want to grow. I want to travel, I want to be free. I want to know I don’t need anyone in order to love myself. 

I need to love myself - That was it

This would have been so much easier if he was a bad guy. But he’s not. You all know that. He is truly the most caring and loving person and has done so much for me. 

But it’s ok. These things happen. People grow and feelings change. Who knows what will happen in the future anyway. I honestly couldn’t tell you. I also can’t tell you if I did make the right decision. But I know in my heart it was necessary for me to do this. 

I know that…I am losing my best friend right now. I am hurting him. But maybe he was just comfortable too? And it’s the change that is hurting…? Who knows. No one can really say for sure… only time will tell.

I hate hurting people. I would much rather hurt myself and in a way I was…I became extremely depressed. Not that I was depressed b/c of him but I was depressed b/c I think I know in my heart what I really wanted to do but everything kept denying it. My body was literally rejecting the idea of change and the idea of hurting him. 

So I have been on an emotional roller-coaster of being excited to becoming physically sick with stress. All of this is natural and all of this is expected. 

and its not over. I still have more emotions to go through. I’m trying to find an apartment…figure out how I can do it financially by myself…

I am going to lose one, maybe two, of my pets…

I may lose friends. 

I am losing my best friend. 

but....here I go

Hiatus over!!!!

my macbook is back!!!!!! fucking finally after a long month of repairs and having to take it back three times for different issues that kept coming up. christ. now this means after my month long vacation from writing and finishing a certain shklance fic (Blue Eyes Always Haunting Me or beahm for short) i can get back to work again..while also possibly going back to school..we’ll see. 

anyway, thanks to everyone who is a fan of the story for waiting so patiently. i know its been quite the hassle this last month of 2018 especially the last season of voltron which i know disappointed many fans(there were a few things i strongly disliked but hey whatever as far as i know season 7 was the end imo lmao) and tumblr’s recent ban of certain imagery(one of my old posts back from my early blogging days got flagged which was just a photo of my two best friends wearing clothes and laughing....i know wtf right?) that in the end didn’t even really fix anything. plus, there were alot of deaths around christmas time, some that were part of the tumblr community, and some that were more personal in my life. i hope everyone whose suffered some form of loss can find peace within themselves and in others. 

 so this has been a shitty finale of 2018 but hopefully we can kick off 2019 and i hope to do that by uploading a new chapter to BEAHM soon this week and hopefully starting on the new shance series i have somewhat planned out. thanks everyone once again for your support i will see yall into the new year!
