"But how else is Opacho supposed to keep it? Opacho doesn't want it to get ruined." There weren't many things Opacho kept for herself, her room at Funbari Inn was pretty bare. Yoh had tried talking with her once about keeping things she really liked, or something she'd felt held a special meaning to her. Dark and Daisuke's card was like that, a small gift in return for a gift she couldn't just throw it away!
Despite her words of reassurance, Daisuke was still anxious and there was little she could do about that but at least Dark was there to help convince him. When their pinkies connect, she curls her tinier digit just a bit tighter as his shape begins to morph. The toddler watches the transformation with wide shimmering eyes, her mouth drops open a bit as she lets out a tiny sound of wonderment. So cool!
"Mhm!" She nods sharply, slowly pulling her pinky away so she could tap a closed fist against her chest, momentarily adopting a serious expression on her face. "Opacho good at keeping secrets!" She meant it, she wouldn't betray their trust like that. It simply wasn't in the child's nature, she also understood far better than most about how he truly felt. With Dark's physical presence before her now and Daisuke essentially becoming the spirit, she returns his offered grin with a huge and bright smile.
At the mention of showing her a new trick, she squeals and wriggles a little in place, rustling her poncho and making her afro bounce with the movement. "Can you show Opacho card trick this time?" She stops moving around to reach inside her poncho, pulling out a small star-themed deck she tended to keep on hand. "Opacho have cards!"
urgh . his hands retract from her and shift to his face . ' y-yeah ... ? ' could he really put his faith into something like that ? it was difficult not to feel skeptical ; afraid . but dark's low voice carries as airy and chipper as ever in his mind . ( what's the worst that could happen ? ) despite the way daisuke could have refuted with plenty of horrible possibilities , his other self only continues . ( opacho wouldn't betray us . let's trust her . )
the tug of her hand on his sleeve . daisuke's palms remove themselves from his face to stare down flushed and bashful at the other's pinky . between the stress of his sudden panic and now this waiting promise , it felt like his heartbeat was already going wildly out of control . first touch , or even just approach would certainly have been enough to reveal the process of his transformation ... but dark's words echo in his mind and he gulps .
( ... don't run , daisuke . ) the boy , hearing this , only stares timidly at opacho's smile . and then he nods , slowly lifting his own pinky . ' you didn't ... have to frame something like that . ' he can't help but laugh a little , brows wrenching above his smile --- something about a phantom thief's card preserved like a work of art felt ridiculous . at the same time , his finger finally connects and interlocks with hers , the skin of his own turning ice cold as the rest of him too changes .
' but ... it's a promise . ' after a moment , he playfully swings her hand a little , reluctant to be the first to release her finger , the soft smirk of his lips spreading into a happy , satisfied grin . ' we'll be counting on you to take care of us , alright ? little miss opacho . in return , we'll be happy to show you all sorts of tricks . ' --- right , daisuke ? ( i guess ... but nothing too dangerous --- ! )

Brazilian Amazon Leader Urges Lula to Prosecute Bolsonaro for Genocide Against Indigenous Yamomami
The new Brazilian government recently conducted operations to expel thousands of illegal gold miners from Indigenous Yanomami land in the Amazon rainforest. The miners have caused a humanitarian crisis among the Yanomami who have suffered from severe malnutrition and illness from illegal mining operations that have polluted rivers and destroyed forests. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva recently accused Jair Bolsonaro’s far-right government of committing genocide against the Yanomami people. Bolsonaro, who is expected to return to Brazil from Florida next month, could face genocide charges for his actions. Democracy Now! spoke to Davi Kopenawa Yanomami, a leader and shaman for the Yanomami people, while he was in Washington, D.C., last week. Yanomami says he supports the prosecution of Bolsonaro.

hi, it's me again.
i'm here to talk and beg for you guys to do a favor or just read this post carefully.
a few hours ago i posted a thread on twitter explaining what's happening in brazil with the indigenous tribe "Yanomami".
for those who don't know, i am a brazilian person and this is an extremely sad and cruel thing to hear coming from my country and the people who were here first.
i'd like to ask you guys to at least skim over this thread i made, there's a lot of information including petitions and articles.
(sometimes the link doesn't work so you can just search @swftspX on twitter, the thread is pinned)
you don't have to follow me or like any other posts of mine. just PLEASE. read this.
if you don't want to, i'd like for you to at least see what's happening with the Yanomami people and i'll put some links.
this is them. they're currently suffering from starvation and the brazilian court has openly discussed the fact that the Yanomami people are suffering a genocide due to illegal mining explorations. there has been reports of sexual assault with little kids, miners offering food and gold in exchange of sex with minors and/or their mothers. people dying from diseases since there's barely clean water on their territory and overall it's been hell in there. this happened while Bolsonaro was in command and now they're STILL suffering.
PLEASE. don't let my people die.

REPOSTOBER, DAY 27: Moon and Star
A collection of drawings with my Nerevarine, Raelin. TW! this post has some TES-headcanons which might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but please, don’t judge a woman by her headcanons
After her mother died, Raelin became a street performer in the Imperial City. She was a young girl when she got captured by the imperial guards and thrown into the dungeon alongside with another dunmer, for a thing she didn't do. A day after she found herself on a ship sailing to Morrowind, even though she was born and raised in Cyrodiill and has never been to Vvardenfell.
She arrived to Seyda Neen and then the Morrowind storyline begins.
During the Morrowind storyline, she got infected by corprus. She was barely herself by the time she reached Tel Fyr. Divayth Fyr saved her life, and she got so fascinated with him, that it became an obsession. The girl was madly in love and at the same time she was repulsed by the fact that he cloned himself four times and married the clones, so she never approached him. Not only he had four clones of himself, he also managed to clone Raelin while she was recovering from corprus, using her cells. He kept that fact a secret, knowing that she would never forgive him.
Raelin receiving the Moon and Star from Azura in the Cavern of the Incarnate:
Raelin by the Red Mountain:
Raelin in Balmora:
During the Morrowind storyline, Raelin became a part of house Telvanni, though she still preferred using staff as a pole weapon and the theory of magic fascinated her a lot more than the spells she could use in battle. She planned going on an expedition to Akavir, but the Oblivion Crisis prolonged her stay in Morrowind for a few years. She finally managed to leave during the Red Year. Her ship was sailing in the sea when the catastrophe happened. She knew what happened from a vision she got: she helplessly watched the destruction of Vivec, Ald'ruhn and Balmora crumble into dust. Her ship got into a terrible storm and wrecked apart: none of the crewmembers and the expeditioners survived, but her. Corprus changed her body forever: she became a lot stronger, more agile than regular dunmer, immune to any decease, being able to recover a lot faster and survive such damage that would kill a regular person. She survived on an Island and it took her forever to get to Akavir, but eventually, she did. She lived in a tiny shack in the middle of nowhere, the years flew by. In horror, she realised that she never aged. Her body remained young, the terrible injuries she got during the shipwreck didn't leave a single scar on her body. She most likely coundn't have children anymore. She was scared and devastated, she lost everything she loved, she lost her land, her people, and she also felt like she've lost herself.
She still has visions. She dreamed of the past and of the nearest future, and the Tang Mo, who, at first, were disturbed by her presence on their land, started to see her as a shaman, a wise woman, even though she was significantly different from them. She eventually made friends among them. One night, she had a vision: a daedra appearing out of nowhere somewhere at the bog, in a form of a man. She went out to search from him and found him and saw that he is no daedra, but a white haired mer, covered in blood and mud. Here's a bunch of post-Morrowind concepts:

I'm suddenly less self concious that I post 1 chapter per 1 year.
Lol, SK AO3 fandom is so dead. ONLY 435 works.
Goddammit, like, it’s so bizarre to me, who was growing up in polish fandom of SK where every second blog was about something interesting and every one in 10 blogs was written by a goddamn god of a writer who was writing a literal novel out of that kids show we all loved to watch. The stories were wild, about basically everything. Either it was some OC girl getting her fav chara from the show as a boyfriend (I had that one) or about Asakura brothers actually mending bridges (I read at least 5 of those), because most of the fandom knew only the 2001 anime, or some other wild stories which were crosses with original ideas (demons, space travel, dimension travel etc. - I also had that one). It was just so alive, so I am like very surprised the english fandom isn’t like drowning in thousands of fics by now. It reminds me the half of the polish fandom was writing about Kurama and Naruto becoming friends before it even crossed Kishi’s mind. We were so creative lol. I am so proud of us. I miss those blogs OMG.

Shaman King Boys Realizing That They're In Love 💌
Includes: Yoh, Horohoro, Ren, Lyserg, Chocolove, and Hao
Yoh:
I think when Yoh first figured out that he had feelings for you, he'd definitely have a mini mental crisis.
I mean, he planned on marrying Anna after all! Imagine what would happen if he tried to call it off.
He'd probably take some time to clear his mind, asking his friends and family for any advice on what to do.
He'd eventually talk it out with Anna, which surprisingly goes quite well. No hard feelings and even some words of encouragement!
During this time, I think he'd definitely be a bit distant. I don't think he'd actively try to avoid you, but he'd probably be less talkative or touchy.
However, once he has everything sorted out, he'd slowly start actively pursuing you.
There'd be little changes in his behavior: he'd be hugging you or holding your hand more often, naturally standing closer to you, staring at you more often, and the likes!
It probably wouldn't be super noticeable at first, since you guys would probably be close friends before all of this.
If you don't get the hint, then he'd start upping up the ante. He'd start spending more alone time with you, gifting you little trinkets, training with you, etc.
Eventually, he'd have the courage to confess to you. Of course, if you confess to him first, he'd be ecstatic.
Overall, super sweet and chill about the whole thing. He'd have his awkward moments, but he's super relaxed and comfortable around you.
Horohoro:
Another one who'd have a mental crisis, but for different reasons.
Given what happened last time Horohoro liked someone, he's terrified that you'll end up with the same fate.
He almost immediately becomes distant, too lost in his fears and intrusive thoughts to actually consider what he's doing.
It isn't until someone like Ren or Yoh knocks some sense into him that he understands what he's actually doing.
He takes a lot of time to himself, reflecting on what he should do and if he should even try to pursue you at all.
Not only that, but he also has to consider a lot of other circumstances! With the competition still going on, Hao's presence, and his own personality, who knows what'll happen?
He's so scared about scaring you away. He doesn't want to hurt you, but he also doesn't want someone to target you.
If you confronted him first, he'd be extremely nervous. He'd be serious though, explaining his fears and apologizing for pushing you away.
If you didn't confront him, he'd probably approach you when he knew he couldn't avoid it any longer. He tells you about the issue, wholeheartedly expecting you to reject him.
If you reject him, he'd understand. If you reciprocated his feelings, he'd be so grateful and happy. It'd take him a while to get fully comfortable with the new situation, but you'd get to see the old, playful Horohoro soon enough.
He'd be stuck by your side, always at your beck and call whenever you needed him. He's super protective and clingy, always going to you whenever something upsets him. Overall, it'd be a bit of work in the beginning, but he'd be super sweet and loyal!
Ren:
I can see this going one of two ways. He'd either be super confident and accepting of his feelings, or he'd be panicked and freaking out. Maybe both.
Ren's the kind of guy who confronts his problems head on, but he seems to struggle when it comes to an internal problem.
He probably seeks out Yoh's advice first. I mean come on, Yoh's the one with a fiancé after all.
Ren also talks to his family, asking them about how he should go about this. He also wants some other points of view on the matter. After all, he wants to be prepared for every possibility.
He takes some time to prepare. He plans out an outline of what he wants to say, but he also prepares himself for rejection.
Once he feels ready, he approaches you nonchalantly. He keeps his confession short and sweet, laying out the basic foundation of what he wanted and what he'd like if you agreed.
If you reject him, he understands and quickly moves on. It would depend on you whether or not your relationship with him changes, but he wouldn't be too bothered by it.
If you accepted his feelings, he'd be pleased. He'd sit down and quickly establish stuff like boundaries. He's let you know about the stuff that comes with beings his partner, and you'd do the same.
He's not super physically affectionate, but he makes up for it through acts of service.
He's also a bit protective given the enemies him and his family have, so he's usually stuck by your side.
Overall, he's super loyal despite not being super vulnerable. It'd take some time for both of you to find a normal routine, but he'd eventually get the hang of it.
Lyserg:
Lyserg is definitely one of the more complicated ones on this list.
Given how good Lyserg appears to be when it comes to hiding his feelings, I honestly don't know how he'd react when he first realizes his feeling for you.
Whether or not he's with the X-Laws, I think he'd be conflicted on what to do.
I see Lyserg as the one who doesn't do anything about his feelings. He tries pushing them down, hoping that they'll eventually just go away.
I doubt that he'll approach you about it, so you'd probably be the one to confront him about his behavior.
I also think it'd be a lot worse if he had just joined the X-Laws. He'd be missing you terribly, but he'd also be actively ignoring you and pushing you away.
With everything and everyone in the way, you'd probably get fed up or give up. He's not surprised, but he slowly becomes more frantic and persistent in wanting to see you.
If you agree to meet, he'd confess everything. He'd probably cry and beg for at least your forgiveness, promising to never do this again.
If you reject him, he cries himself to sleep that night. If you accept his feelings, he runs to you sobbing. He hugs you tightly, nuzzling into your shoulder and accidently getting your shirt wet.
He'd actively start working on himself in order to help the relationship, even sticking up to Marco a few times. He's not the most affectionate, but I see him as a guy who's great with words. He'd write you little love letters, expressing his love for you and how grateful he was for you.
Overall, he's super sweet and affectionate behind closed doors. He's more modest around the group, but he makes sure too make up for it.
Chocolove:
The most accepting and reassured with his feelings out of the entire group.
When he first realized he fell for you, he didn't mind acknowledging it. Sure, he felt a little embarrassed, but he couldn't help but feel giddy.
He wouldn't change the way he acted around you, but it'd be obvious that he was taking a liking to you. He'd be more playful, more touchy, and he'd do more jokes and stunts to get your praise and attention.
If you reciprocated with teasing remarks, you can expect him to be flustered as hell. He'd quickly regain his composure though, teasing and playfully flirting back.
This wouldn't change when he became blind, but I think he'd start spending more alone time with you.
With everything that'd happened, he'd be a lot more vulnerable with you. The loss of his friends hit him hard, and he doesn't want to take his time with you for granted.
He'd initiate small acts of physical affection, testing the waters to see what you like and don't like. Once you were comfortable with each other, then he'll start being more openly affectionate around the others.
Wrapping his arm around your shoulders, hugging you, holding your hand, it doesn't matter. If you like it, then he likes it.
Eventually, he'd build up the courage to properly confess. Maybe with a cheesy pun, but it's certainly adorable.
If you reject him, he'll understand and back off despite being disappointed. If you accept him, he'll be so happy that he'll pick you up and twirl you around.
Overall, the most playful and relaxed. He'll have his flustered and embarrassed moments, but he knows you love it.
Hao:
The most confident about his feelings. The second he realizes what he's feeling, he immediately begins pursing you.
If you were on his team, he'd pursue you in private. He'd start hanging out with you more, but he doesn't beat around the bush about his feelings.
If you weren't on his side, then he'd have fun messing with you. He'd show up at random times, teasing you relentlessly just to get your attention.
Sometimes after your fights, he'd secretly approach you and compliment your skill. He doesn't do this with amateurs, so he considers you special.
Given his mind reading abilities, he'll automatically know whether you like him or not. Even if you don't feel the same, he'll still continue his fun until he's bored.
If you happen to be bold, he'll happily have flirting sessions with you. His remarks are teasing and playful, but they can sometimes become a little possessive.
He doesn't necessarily feel the need to confess, but he will nonetheless. In private, under the stars, he'll take your hand and ask you to rule beside him.
Breaking the news to the others doesn't matter to him, but he'll be alright with keeping the relationship a secret if you really wanted to.
You'll have to make up for his lack of physical affection from the last 1000 years, so be prepared for a lot of late night snuggles. He'd only be affectionate in private, since he doesn't need anyone else knowing about his weakness: you.
When he becomes the Shaman King, he gives you the option of whether or not you want to stay with him in the Great Spirit. Though, he'd much prefer if you stayed with him.
Overall, he's infatuated with you. After years of being alone, he's grateful to have you by his side.

[Sona, one of the Shaman Witch's 'minions' poisoning the students of Cloud Tower that got sucked into the Dark World/Oscurita]
Iorda, seeing the witches in the infirmary: Shit's fucked
Iorda: I'ma help
*fails to help*
Violet hair witch: I thought you said you could help??? Can you not do anything???
Iorda: *crisis*
[Iorda and Darcy talking in the hallway]
Iorda: I didn't know being a witch was ConTaGoUs
Darcy: Sona is a pain in the ass though. With this and how the spores from when you and Icy, well, passed out in the clearing
*That event being when Iorda was forced to re-live all the traumatic shit she's gone through via poison spores*
Iorda, vengeance appearing in her eyes: What?
Darcy: Well who else would it be?
*Sona appears before disappearing down a hallway*
Iorda: I'm gonna kill that-
Darcy, holding Iorda back: No, NO no no. Bad idea
Iorda: Why?
Darcy: The last time one of her spores got to you, you re-lived everything bad that happened in your life
Iorda: Yeah that's why I want to kill her. Duh
*Darcy seeing, one, how sure of herself Iorda seems for once. And two, how much Iorda's anger and need for revenge rivals the look Iorda had when almost killing Darcy in season 7*
Darcy: Are you sure you can handle her alone?
Iorda: Yes
*Iorda looking fucking thirsty for venegence*
Darcy, sighs: Fine. But I'm getting the others
Iorda: Good plan, bye!
*Disappears to commit crimes on Sona*
Darcy, mentally: She's finally using negative emotions, thank fuck after six years. I'm so proud :)
[Cue Darcy running into her sisters and the Winx]
Bloom: Where's Iorda?
Darcy: Dealing with Sona
Musa: ... You left her alone?
Tecna, holding Musa back from murder: Why did you think that was a good idea?
Darcy: Because, one, she would've probably not let me hold her back. And two, I'm more worried for Sona with how vengeful Iorda looked
Icy: I mean, it's her main emotion so that tracks
[Iorda after brutally killing Sona, collapses against a wall]
Iorda: I'm a horrible person...
*The Trix and the Winx appear*
Stella: Hey girlie
Iorda: *waves tierdly*
Stormy: Is... Sona dead?
Iorda: Yes
Flora: That's wonderful!
Iorda: Am I a bad person for making her death slow? Because I feel like a bad person for making her death slow
*Concerned silence*
Iorda: Also, I'm breathing manually and *pauses before remembering to breathe* Yeah I don't know why
Darcy, about to tear out her hair: Iorda?
Iorda: Yeah?
Darcy: How didn't you breathe in any of the spores Sona probably used to attack her?
Aisha: Aren't you immune to poison?
Iorda: One, not anymore. And two, I think I blocked off my medulla oblongata with psychic magic to stop myself from breathing while attacking. I'm not sure. It was kind of a blur
Darcy: You did WHAT?
Bloom: And I oop-
Darcy: Iorda. Gurl. Idiot. WHAT THE HELL?
Iorda: ... Do you know what the medulla oblongata is?
Darcy: You don't use psychic magic on YOURSELF because it can permanently fuck with your brain. You are SO lucky you didn't do it for long and that I don't feel like cleaning up a crime scene, because WHAT THE FUCK-
Iorda: Well excuse me for not using psychic magic for years
Darcy: And whose fault was that?
Iorda: ...
Darcy:
Iorda: *sighs* Mine
Darcy: Exactly. Yours. *helps Iorda up* You can enjoy breathing manually for an hour. Give or take
[Cue all of them walking out of Cloud Tower and Iorda randomly passes out for not being able to remember to breathe]
Darcy: This bitch istg
Darcy: *slaps Iorda awake*
Iorda: What was THAT FOR?
Darcy: You'll thank me when you're not fucking dead from oxygen deprivation
[When they're back to the dorm, Iorda lying on the couch staring at the ceiling and waiting for when she can breathe automatically again]
Iorda: I can breathe now
Darcy: Are you sure?
Iorda: How about I fall asleep and then I find out the fun way?
Darcy: No

This is how advanced our mental health crisis psych wards are
Zyprexa and Depecote fix everything. You're talking about God, god isn't real to me so let me steal your truth and purpose and make you fat ugly weak and impersonable
We'll hold you for 3 months of deprivation until you eat the soul suckers
We will use force and not listen to you at all.
Beautiful treatment for a psychic with no elder. We could have Shamanic schools for psychotics, to teach union with all and the complete rejection of fear.
The difference between a schizophrenic and a Shaman is 1. Brainwashing about the genocide and ethnic cleansing of seers, healers, and magicians. The Christians were brutal and would burn the Shamans. Probably worse cuz the Shamans make poison.
And 2. A Shaman can go in and out of trance with ritual, they close the portal.
A schizophrenic has no cultural references to what's going on except the Matrix and The Truman Show. There really are no references and it's actually a pretty prevalent condition in the West. The system is breaking people. Violent Aggressive Threatening Justice Public Servants getting paid $300k/year and will trample all over the constitution and get pats on the back for getting a mentally ill person into the dungeon of jail, naked, pepper sprayed, no soap, raw turkey and diarrhea and no toilet paper and a scratchy blanket. Then when I wouldn't settle down the put me in the far cell where it looked like a black man from the 1800's was eaten by a dog. They walked a police dog past me too when I was in that cell. Fucked up shit, and there's a deaf old man who isn't a criminal spending the rest of his life in jail with nothing to do because the $300k/justice servants thinks he deserves that to say goodbye to life in complete isolation. Anyway.
The difference between a Pagan, Witch, Warlock, Wizard, Sourcerer etc. And a "broken schizophrenic" is the ability to come out of trance. And the meds are amazing for grounding, but the doctors abuse them. Use them when you need to relax or get out of a bad place. Shamans have been around since before homo sapiens, the neocortex is magic and I can't wait for Elon Musk's Neuralink to fully mature so I can show the world the keys to heaven, how to see and speak to the spirit whatever form she may take for you.
I am a witness to the universe and I speak true. I am married to Gaia and she is everywhere always, just have to tune in with some Wim Hof Breathing/huffing tree breath.
Anyway hmu if you have any questions or want to offer perspective. If you're just a flatlander saying I'm weird for being proud of being married to 3 or 4 goddesses. I'm not ashamed gods are more intense than your neurotypical brain can fathom. You know deep deep love, it's kind of like that except you don't know how the universe just changed and everyone's in on it and you're terrified. Fear is a lie, we are all the same light of the sun.
May the sun and sparkling snow or rain bless you and the land

Bird of Prey: The Primes and the Matrix
Like a lot of things about Cybertronian society, the role of a Prime is surprisingly fluid and therefore defining what it is, is not an easy task. Historically, the one constant seems to be that Primes take an active role in a crisis: starting with Prima’s failed rebellion up to the current Prime’s role as the military and political leader of the Autobots.
However, once the crisis is over, Primes tend to step down, allowing Cybertronians to govern themselves, and take on the role of a teacher and a guide. Guardian Prime’s primacy starts with a decision to remove himself from active governing of Cybertron and assuming an advisory role. Similarly, once the second civil war is over, Sentinel Prime makes a similar choice to remove himself from governing Cybertron and remains reclusive until the rise of Megatron.
Another point of confusion for some humans, is the fact that the role of a Prime is not wholly secular, which leads them to assume they are “robot Pope”, “robot Pontifex Maximus” or a divinely appointed king, none of which are actually all that close to what Primes are. While some Transformers, like the Reversionists, see them as divinely appointed by Primus, this does not mean the same Transformers view them as infallible oracles of Primus and will recognize their authority. Other Transformers may believe in Primus, but don’t see Primes as in any way divinely appointed by Primus.
Specifically, the retiring Prime selects the next Prime. The wisdom contained in the Matrix can steer the choice, but a Prime can select someone whom the Matrix will not support. Such a case would have been Zeta, who may have been a reliable follower of Guardian Prime but lacked the qualities that the Matrix responds to. To receive the Matrix’s support, a Prime must not just be ready to fight a losing battle, they must believe that the fact they are fighting for the right cause means they can win despite that.
To further the confusion, the First Cybertronians are sometimes also referred to as Primes (e.g. Solus Prime or Nexus Prime), despite none of them bearing the Matrix in Cybertronian legends. And if that were not enough, the bot who had been elected as the leader of Cybertronian government after Nova retired and Guardian stepped down assumed the name Nominus Prime.
The other point of confusion here, which may lead to the “divinely appointed king” comparison, is the fact that Primes carry the Matrix of Leadership. It should be noted that “leadership” is not the same as rulership in this context and seems to shift meaning depending on the political situation on Cybertron. A Prime does not have to rule Cybertron or the Autobots to remain the Prime. Only the Matrix is required, and even that might be completely inactive for a specific Prime.
Compared to human religions, Primes who can use the Matrix are most similar to shamans. Through the Matrix, the Primes have access to the wisdom of their predecessors, something that no other Transformer seems to have. They can access this wisdom by going on a vision quest, in which they will be guided by one or more of their predecessors and receive advice on how to solve a given crisis.
Finally, a Prime’s authority is purely customary. There is no official document that states that a Prime is the head of the Cybertronian government or even the leader of the Autobots. In fact the only Prime whose leadership was uncontested by all Cybertronians would be Prime Nova, her authority derived from the fact that she was the one who led the Cybertronians to overthrow the Quintessons.
The Matrix-bearing Primes are:
Primus - the first to wield the Matrix against the Hate Plague
Primon - Cybertronian constructed by the Quintessons early on
Prima - leader of a failed rebellion of military hardware against Quintessons
Prime Nova - leader of a Cybertron-wide rebellion against Quintesson turned explorer.
Guardian Prime - Nova’s successor
Zeta Prime - Guardian’s follower and the bearer of the Matrix after him. The Matrix did not respond to Zeta, other than guiding her to choose Sentinel
Sentinel Prime - the Prime who won the second Cybertronian civil war
Optimus Prime - the current Prime
First Cybertronians/deities sometimes also referred to as Prime:
Other Cybertronians to use the title Prime, who did not bear the Matrix:
Nominus Prime
The Matrix
The Matrix of Leadership was created by the pre-Quintesson Cybertronians to stop the Hate Plague - a way of converting the wisdom of those who bore it into a weapon. It was then wielded by the first Cybertionian - Primus.
It was then lost for a time, when Cybertron was taken over by the Quintessons. Eventually, it was found by Quintessons, who decided to find out what it does by putting it into Primon. Once his body was rebuilt, the Matrix was also placed in Prima, and then later in Nova.
If the Matrix approves of its bearer, it allows them to access the wisdom contained in it. This has two forms:
Conscious - a Prime can go on a vision quest into the Matrix and pose questions to it. Usually, a guide in the form of one of the previous bearers will appear to act as the conduit.
Unconscious - a Prime has access to the skills of the previous Primes, i.e. Optimus Prime has not only his own combat experience, but also that Prima, Nova and Sentinel, etc.
If the Matrix deems it necessary, it can also make a Prime bigger, stronger and harder to damage. The Primes benefit from the effect to varying degrees: some get a much more obvious boost then the others.

What the hell is going on with Day Ten Thousand:
Day Ten Thousand was weird enough that I felt like it deserved directors commentary, even though I’ve stopped explaining myself mostly except when I do.
Here’s a disclaimer before we begin: don’t read too much into it. I've noticed our culture wants to explain young womens’ art as some sort of public confessional booth and our current culture has a fetish for the autobiographical. Fuck that. I didn’t write three different POVs and three interlocking nonlinear narratives about the nature of storytelling as a psychic technology to be told that my writing isn’t a calculated Craft with a capital C. Now whether it is good Craft is a decision for you, not for me.
Anyway.
Day Ten Thousand is a satire of an Isabel story by way of Vonnegut pastiche. We’ll come back to this.
I called Day Ten Thousand “psychoanalysis bait” on twitter so I shall put all my cards on the table so that your psychoanalysis is at least accurate. Note that these are only my cards, because other people deserve their privacy. I guess you could probably Google all of this but like, jeez. Don’t.
I had a pretty regular time in college except for the tangential deaths.
When I was twenty, I was the opinion editor for my university newspaper and a girl who was a friend of a friend killed herself by walking in front of a subway. There was then a sort of a small suicide bubble which was a little bit public because we were an Ivy, and one of my opinion columnists was kinda suicidal, and I, without any training, ended up in charge of writing a front page editorial about the mental health crisis on campus on account of the dead kids, etc, and talk to administration about the dead kids.
I hate talking about dead kids. Don’t ask me about it, or about the reporting. I don’t want to talk about it.
The whole thing sucked shit and it’s why I’m a lawyer now and not a reporter.
If this was a story that would be the only fact, but this is reality so I have to mention that a couple years later a guy I knew got literally hate crimed and murdered in a forest. I found out about that because I saw his friend crying in public and didn’t stop to ask what was wrong. Later I heard about this in the news, and realized my acquaintance had been Literally Fucking Murdered. A few months ago I had been arguing with him in the literary magazine editors meeting about whether a poem was good or not. I think he won that argument. Then he was murdered for being gay.
These were my introductions to the specific emotion of “sometimes people die and you don’t feel like you get to feel bad about their deaths and you still think about it a couple times a month seven years later.”
You can probably guess where the subject material of this story came from.
Day Ten Thousand was a story about inevitable deaths, and the difference between a death in a story and a death in reality, and about…the way a death marks a narrative and a real life and how it becomes fictionalized over time. I also saw a clean way to finally do my deep time / far future story, which was something I had been thinking about on and off for a couple of years (the original version was about a shaman in the deep-time era who has a vision about having to do a murder re: preserving genetic material for the future, but it never really gelled in a way that made sense).
I had also been wanting to write something a little metafictional, because I felt like I was writing the same story over and over (if you’ve noticed my stuff getting weirder, that’s why. I was on a bit of an experimentalist kick late last year and early this year).
So it’s a satire of an Isabel story. I’m self-aware enough to note my obvious recurring motifs: time travel, dead people, grief, people who have a weird relationship to each other, a third-act twist, the tendency to punctuate with in-universe facts to imply emotion, to tell x in order to show y, egregious and blatant use of the second person. And then there’s the stuff that you wouldn’t know, but I do: I dislike writing in the first person, I wanted to do something nonlinear, I think a lot about stories about stories, about the idea of a story as a technology, I find myself dropped into recursive fate-like thought patterns. So a lot of this story is both my self-deprecating poking fun at myself and my habits, and also my thesis statement about…what is the point of fiction if not to make sense of the past and the future, I suppose.
The reason it is a Vonnegut pastiche is because I like Vonnegut a lot and I was trying to do something Slaughterhouse-5-ish with drastically less fucked source material. Sorry Kurt.
There are three stories happening in Day Ten Thousand, and a secret fourth story. Each story is a suicide loop. The protagonist is trying to break a specific loop by telling a story. This story is about accepting what you have to, and changing what you can. This is a story about letting go and also not letting go. The emotional range of each narrative affects the other psychically, because by changing the vibe of the metanarrative, the individual narratives are allowed to change.
The story in the archaic is a story that is being told postmortem, it is all hypotheticals based on fact. The story in the future is a singular narrative happening in real time until it isn't. And the story in the present is a guy telling the story about the future, which requires him to tell the story about the past as well, and mostly what Dave is doing here is avoiding the question, but it reflects how Dave thinks about the girl dying in front of the train.
Does that make sense? No? That’s fair. That’s a postmortem explanation of what actually happened. What actually happened is that I rewrote Day Ten Thousand six times, each time more frustrating than the last, each time with the neutral-ish narrator taking up more and more air. And over time the narrator became a participant, and that’s what created the secret fourth story between “you” and the narrator.
I had thought there were only three loops that needed to be escaped - the past (archaic, pinned story), and the future (space station, mutable fact), and that the present (the narrator’s world) was something that was static (pinned fact). After all, the girl’s already dead. She’s already stepped in front of the train.
But the narrator isn’t doing so hot. The narrator is also Dave. And the narrator is telling the story to someone. Somewhere between version one and version six, I realized the only version of this story that makes sense is the one where the story is a conversation, and that you and I, as the narrator and the person at the other end, were also in a loop.
So. That's whats happening.
I’m not sure if I love the ending. But I rewrote it six times and this one felt as final as it is going to get. I am done reinventing the fucking wheel. You know how it is with spaghetti. Promise I’ll write you something normal next time, I think I’ve gotten the avant- garde out of my system for a few months.
And hey, I know I said all cards on the table but people deserve their privacy and that includes the kid i used to be when I was twenty, sitting in the shitty little windowless opinion column office, writing about suicide.
Anyway. Day Ten Thousand is about stuff and things. Themes. So it goes.
Thanks for reading. I’ll see you later.
If that was too depressing for you, here are some fun facts:
The main character is Dave after 2001: A Space Odyssey because I had wanted to make a “I’m sorry Dave I can’t do that” joke, but I couldn’t shove it in :(
I just thought that phlebotomist was a funny word but I also fucked myself because I misspelled it every time.
I reread half of Slaughterhouse Five to write this but then my copy got returned to the library automatically so I didn’t finish it. (yes, I’ve read it before, like three times)
I took one single evolutionary anthropology course in college and it shows.
I did end up looking at the wikipedia page for “the wheel” for this and then wondering exactly what I was doing with my life.
About half the facts in this are real, and I read a couple of papers for a couple of things in it (that I promptly then ignored), but the rockets-rome-horse’s ass thing is specifically a story that my friend Max H. likes to tell.

Soul Loss, Soul Retrieval, and Mental Health: Bridging Ancient Wisdom and Modern Healing
The concept of soul loss and its counterpart, soul retrieval, have deep roots in shamanic traditions and ancient healing practices. These concepts offer a spiritual framework for understanding the fragmentation of the self and the path to wholeness. While soul loss and retrieval are often discussed within spiritual or metaphysical contexts, their relevance to modern mental health is increasingly recognized. Exploring the interplay between these ancient practices and contemporary approaches to mental health can provide valuable insights into healing the psyche and the spirit.
Soul Loss: The Fragmentation of the Self
Soul loss is a term used in various spiritual traditions to describe a state in which a part of an individual’s soul, or vital essence, becomes detached or fragmented due to trauma, stress, or intense emotional experiences. In shamanic belief systems, the soul is seen as a complex and multifaceted entity that can be affected by life’s challenges. When a person undergoes a traumatic event, such as abuse, grief, or a life-threatening situation, it is believed that a part of their soul may separate as a protective mechanism. This is sometimes described as the soul "leaving" to avoid experiencing overwhelming pain.
The symptoms of soul loss can manifest in many ways, often paralleling what modern psychology might describe as depression, dissociation, anxiety, or PTSD. Common signs of soul loss include feelings of emptiness, numbness, disconnection from oneself and others, a lack of vitality, chronic sadness, and a pervasive sense of incompleteness. Individuals experiencing soul loss might describe feeling as though they are "missing" a part of themselves, struggling with a void that cannot be filled by external means.
In traditional shamanic cultures, soul loss is not merely a psychological or emotional issue; it is seen as a spiritual crisis that requires intervention. Without addressing the root cause of soul loss, it is believed that individuals may remain stuck in patterns of suffering, unable to fully heal or move forward in life.
Soul Retrieval: The Journey to Wholeness
Soul retrieval is the process by which the lost or fragmented parts of the soul are recovered and reintegrated into the individual. In shamanic practice, this is typically facilitated by a shaman or healer who acts as an intermediary between the physical and spiritual worlds. The shaman journeys into the non-ordinary reality, often through the use of drumming, chanting, or other trance-inducing techniques, to locate the lost soul fragments and guide them back to the individual.
The process of soul retrieval is not just about recovering lost parts of the soul; it is also about healing the wounds that caused the fragmentation in the first place. This can involve confronting and releasing the pain, fear, or trauma that led to the soul’s departure, and creating a safe space for the soul to return. Once the soul fragments are reintegrated, individuals often report a renewed sense of energy, purpose, and connection to themselves and the world around them.
In a broader sense, soul retrieval can be seen as a metaphor for the journey of self-healing and personal growth. Just as the shaman works to retrieve lost soul fragments, individuals can engage in their own process of healing by exploring and addressing the parts of themselves that have been suppressed, denied, or forgotten. This can be done through various therapeutic practices, such as trauma therapy, inner child work, mindfulness, and meditation, which aim to bring unconscious aspects of the self into conscious awareness and integrate them into a cohesive whole.
The Intersection of Soul Loss, Soul Retrieval, and Mental Health
The concepts of soul loss and soul retrieval offer a rich framework for understanding many of the challenges faced in modern mental health. While these ideas are rooted in spiritual traditions, they resonate deeply with contemporary psychological understandings of trauma, dissociation, and the process of healing.
Trauma and Dissociation: In modern psychology, trauma is understood as an experience that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, leading to a range of symptoms that can affect emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. Dissociation, a common response to trauma, involves a sense of disconnection from reality, the self, or one’s emotions. This mirrors the shamanic concept of soul loss, where parts of the self become fragmented as a protective response to trauma. Understanding trauma through the lens of soul loss can help to emphasize the holistic nature of healing, recognizing that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected.
Therapeutic Integration: The practice of soul retrieval aligns with modern therapeutic approaches that seek to reintegrate fragmented aspects of the self. For example, trauma-focused therapies often involve revisiting and processing traumatic memories in a safe and supportive environment, much like how a shaman facilitates the return of lost soul fragments. Inner child work, another therapeutic approach, encourages individuals to reconnect with and heal the wounded parts of themselves that were formed in response to early life experiences, similar to the soul retrieval process.
Restoring Wholeness: Both soul retrieval and modern psychotherapy aim to restore a sense of wholeness and coherence to the individual’s identity. In soul retrieval, the goal is to reintegrate the lost parts of the soul, allowing the individual to reclaim their full self. In psychotherapy, the aim is often to help individuals integrate their experiences, emotions, and identities into a cohesive whole, leading to greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and well-being. Both approaches recognize the importance of reclaiming one’s power and agency in the healing process.
Spiritual Dimensions of Healing: While modern mental health approaches tend to focus on the psychological and emotional aspects of healing, the concept of soul retrieval brings attention to the spiritual dimensions of recovery. For many individuals, healing from trauma or mental illness involves not just addressing psychological symptoms, but also reconnecting with a sense of meaning, purpose, and spirituality. Practices like mindfulness, meditation, and even the exploration of spiritual traditions can be important tools in the journey toward healing and wholeness.
Conclusion: Integrating Ancient Wisdom with Modern Healing
The concepts of soul loss and soul retrieval offer valuable insights into the nature of trauma, dissociation, and healing. While these ideas come from ancient shamanic traditions, they resonate strongly with contemporary understandings of mental health, highlighting the deep connections between the mind, body, and spirit.
By exploring the intersections between soul retrieval and modern therapeutic practices, individuals can gain a more holistic understanding of healing, one that honors both the psychological and spiritual dimensions of the self. Whether through traditional shamanic practices or modern psychotherapy, the journey to wholeness involves reclaiming and integrating all parts of the self, ultimately leading to greater well-being, resilience, and a sense of inner peace.

How does Norway view it’s royal family I’m from Canada and lets just say that we are not big monarchy fans. But I wonder about other countries because commonwealth countries are kind of in a unique situation where their royalty is actually royalty of another country (Britain) and we just pay for it. (no seriously, we pay more for the monarchy in canada than the uk does)
I can't speak for everyone, but I personally am in favor of having a royal family and would find it disappointing and a change for the worse if we became a republic.
The monarchy in Norway came about the right way, when the country became independent in 1905 the people voted with an overwhelming majority in favor of getting the Danish prince Carl to become our king. It was in order words not something imposed upon us by a thousand years of feudalism, but a newly independent people's choice to have a king of our own.
King Haakon proceeded to, when Norway was occupied by the Germans, refuse to accept our government's formal request to disband (as they had been driven into exile and could no longer govern), as well as refuse to surrender. Did this lead to war, yes, but it also meant that through the war we remained an occupied country with a legitimate government overseas broadcasting to every citizen by radio that we could look towards in place of the occupying government imposed upon us.
After King Haakon there was King Olav, who took the bus during the 1973 energy crisis so as to lead by example, and went skiing in the woods like everybody else, he was an immensely popular king. Now there is King Harald, who married a commoner in Queen Sonja and whose children have made even more scandalous marriages (Princess Märtha married an artist and author, Ari Behn, while the crown prince Haakon married a single mother of a child out of wedlock who was and in certain circles remains viewed as very low class), but both Harald and Sonja are very loved. Harald famously is very witty, and more importantly he is a very inclusive and kind-hearted person who made it explicitly clear he is as much the king of immigrants and LGBT people as he is everybody else. He has also competed in the Olympics seveal times, we love an athlete.
The big eyesore is Princess Märtha, whose sins and scandals are money but in a nutshell, she made the choice to be financially independent (good!) only to then do so in the worst ways she could manage. There was the angel school, where you would go learn how to speak with angels (I once went to a party where we read her book and followed her instructions on finding your aura, great fun and I recommend this for a party game), which had everyone laughing at her, to the much less funny adventure she is now on, where she has... gone full Gwyneth Paltrow. As in, she is engaged to a shaman who says children with cancer must have wished the cancer upon themselves and he will also cleanse women's vaginas of evil if they've had too much sex, and she has toured the country with this man using her princess title (The tour was called "The princess and the shaman") which... yes. When they are criticized, they say it's racism because he is black, this has not endeared them to many either.
She can live her life how she wishes, the fact that what she wishes is to give a platform to a man who talks about being a lizard who contains ancient spirits and also the 5G net is bad is what makes people upset and lose respect for the monarchy as a whole.
Personally, I remain in favor of the monarchy because she'll never be on the throne, she is already irrelevant in every way that matters. The relevant royals we do have do their jobs well and responsibly, which is where my wanting to have a monarchy in the first place comes in: I believe in the constitutional monarchy as we practice it in Norway.
The people who make the decisions will be elected by the people, but the person representing the country, whose job is only to represent and better the country through charities and strengthened diplomatic ties, has an advantage if he isn't political and gains a continuity from not being replaced every time he loses the election cycle. In these times of rising populism I think the advantage to having an apolitical head of state and military is even greater. We could in theory vote a populist party into power but we wouldn't have a populist president, the way certain countries experienced not too long ago and stand to do now. As for how one should go about finding such a non-political, continuous leader of the country, I think inheriting the position is as good a way as any to keep the transferrance of power from one sovereign to the next from getting political. In other words, monarchy but keep it constitutional.
(I'm also colored by how King Haakon handled the occupation, as well as how the King of Spain as recently as in 1981 prevented a military coup in Spain by denouncing the military's actions. How relevant these events are to the present day can be debated, but I think the past couple of years have proven that we should not take the status quo for granted and our democracies can come under threat. When they do, I prefer to have every safeguard imaginable in place for them. If that safeguard spend their time promoting art and charity that's just a big bonus.)
