AMBROSIA follows a superstar and second-most-lucrative-member-of-her-girl-group from the point where she's Katya, a grossly ambitious teenager clawing her way through a pseudo-dystopian celebrity training program, to the peak of her career, where she's lost herself in the big diva persona of Ambrosia, bleeding from her nose more than is usual, and hiding a breakdown-induced shaved head from the world.

AMBROSIA is a seven-year-long story of management-dictated shower times, performance-enhancing drugs, and ill-advised affairs with beloved and behated group-mates, told in increments by a semi-reliable narrator over the span of only the one fateful day where a life in service of being looked at finally translates into clawing out eyes.

Hi I decided to start another tournament blog for some reason, so here we are. Since I'm busy with the other one, I might not get to this for a few weeks, but I'll let you all know when I'll start and for now I'm taking submissions (via asks).

I have a list of movies I'll include automatically (the ones I've seen) and anything else will have to be submitted.

I'll keep an updated list in a post on here so you can see what's missing.

"Indie" will be defined sort of loosely based on whether or not reviewers were calling the thing indie when it came out.

No short films. 1h+.

As for queer, it has to be canon, whether through something obvious like same-gender relationships or through characters being written to be queer.

Questioning, intersex, asexual, aromantic, etc. count as queer.

Hays-Code-era (or whatever international equivalent, no matter the year) "we're doing everything possible to tell you this character is a flaming homo except having him make out with his buddy" totally counts.

It's got to have a queer main character or be about queer things. So a movie with a gay best friend doesn't count.

If you're unsure, just let me know and I'll either decide or put it to a vote.

Feel free to send in propaganda with your submissions, or send it to movies already included!

I hope this can be a great space to learn about awesome new movies (especially non-English ones!) and encourage people to check out some great new things.

Also this is going to be very long so I’ll put a read more, sorry. So click on that if you’re interested in my opinions on family, mythology, life and death and whatever lmao

1.If you dislike your family, are you obligated to spend time with them? Show up at family functions? Help them out in their time of need? Is a family even relevant anymore – especially when you have a close circle of friends?I don’t dislike my family in a hate kinda way so it isn’t to bad to be forced to spend time with them but to put it this way: I am very glad that I moved out and got a bit of distance between them and me. I do show at family parties but we don’t meet often anyway and I get along pretty well with my Mum’s family. I don’t rly get along with my dad’s family but neither does he so…. For me personally family is still important but over all I think family doesn’t have to be important especially when you have good friends. I am a firm believer of “choosing your own family”.

3. Why do we call some religions “mythologies” (ancient Greek, Norse, Egyptian, etc.) and others religions? Is this fair? What does this show about how relevant certain ideas are as society progresses?I think the “right” answer is that - and pls don’t quote me on that - religions are only the actual believe in God/Gods while mythology is the whole thing around it, like stories and whatever. And since we have a lot of stories about Greek/Norse/Egyptian Gods we tend to forget that they were Gods and get lost in all these stories. Is it fair? I don’t know but I don’t think there are people actually hurt by this so it isn’t that important (istg there are probably ppl hurt by this lmao). And it just shows that nothing is fixed in society, not even a religion, Who knows maybe in a thousand years ppl will make fun of “The one God mythology”.

5. How would you live your life if you had a week to live? How would you live your life if you had 5 years left to live? How would you live your life if you were going to live forever?A week: I think I’ll make sure that I have no left business, write to everyone I know, tell my friends/family that I love them. Make sure someone is taking care of my horse. Then I’ll read a favourite book and spend the last day at the sea. Five years: I’ll probably stop going to university (I haven’t even rly started but I dunno), go travel, get my ass up to publish my book/my poetry, spend a lot of time with my friends/family/horse. Not much difference to a week, but I’ll be able to take my time.Forever: Tbh Try to find a way to kill myself. I couldn’t do that. Nothing is cool if you have forever and everyone I know will die.8. What’s more important to a relationship: common values or other commonalities (like tastes in music, interests, etc.)?Common values. That’s not even a discussion lmao.

9. What’s your opinion on love? Are there different types? Can we separate love from infatuation? Are there any qualifiers to make love “true” (rather than “fake”)?I truly believe in love and I also believe in many different kinds of love. I think you can seperate it from infatuation and I also think love can be true. Not that there is really a fake kind of love, it is an emotion and I don’t think it can be fake, you can just fake it. Also I am not an expert on that topic lmao.

21. What is true strength?Finding out what you believe in and standing for it. This doesn’t mean that you’re opinions are never allowed to change but I think you should have some basic values and dreams and keep fighting for them.

30. Who are you? Names, nationalities, and virtually any other socially-defined attributes do not count. Deep down, who are you?I think I am a very sensible but also very fucking angry person who always dreams to big and is still figuring everything out.

ohhh i just read irreplacable and its so amazing and beautifully written !!!! i love those kind of open endings where they have to start over (and these two definitely need that since theyre both basically new people??? kinda) but if you wrote an epilogue it would be amazing, to find some closure too!!! but whatever you decide on that doesnt change how great it became !! thanks for sharing it with us!

At twenty-one, now under the name Ambrosia, she is the centerpiece of wildly popular girl-group Moxxy, female lead in hit-block-buster S.L.Y., and firmly cemented as one of W-Media’s most lucrative creations ever. She, also, hides a mental-breakdown-induced shaved head under her wig, keeps bleeding out of her nose due to experimental performance-enhancing drugs, and is about to turn the most prestigious award ceremony of the year into a whirlwind of shattered glass and bloodshed. 

AMBROSIA is a non-chronological story with a frame narrative that spans only a single day, while the story-within draws from anywhere within the past seven years of management-dictated shower times, content-factory dorms, and a life made for consumption that slowly but surely turns the pleasure of being looked at by everybody into the overwhelming urge to claw out eyes.
