🍃I don't often get sentimental about my work, but today when I went up to the doorman at @shakespeareandcoparis and told him I was expected, he said "Ah, c'est vous l'écrivain?" Which was... Un Moment!! Thank you to Flora & everyone there for a wonderful visit 💖

🍁There's now about 5 copies of my book Twelve Percent Dread at the shop with very special Parisian doodles in them - snap them up if you can!

Today, I was lucky enough to (by which, I mean 'avoided adult responsibility long enough to') finish 'Jamiaca Inn' in the cool morning air, and later start Baudelaire's 'The Flowers of Evil' under indoor darkness. In 2 out of the 2 poems I've read thus far, Baudelaire has painted images of dancing women, which brought this Voltaire quote to mind. I read it, years ago, on a paper bag from @shakespeareandcoparis (which I have kept to this day), that has also (along with any bookshop I have ever loved) been on my mind today 🖤. As I do not, without searching, know the source of the quote, I will instead recommend Voltaire's 'Candide' (1759). It has been years (a decade?!) too, since I read it, but I still name it amongst my favourites.
