Planning on only being here for a fun time not a long time 🤣. Honestly, just wanted to look at old Shalily fics that I requested some odd years ago.
From the looks of things, it’s looking like our dear Shalily ship has become stagnant once again. Not sure if I should do a little boosting to bring back the motivation.
Whatcha think? 💛

“I love you”
@shalilyweek
"I love you ..." he murmured softly, every word accompanied by a gentle kiss to her temple. He had to be careful as to not wake her, she generally did not get much sleep as a queen, but he could not help it. Instead, he could only watch over her, confide in her the secrets he was not ready to tell her if she were awake. Pantherlily still had some time before he would bring those words to his lips when she was not sleeping and lying in his arms.
He preferred to keep watch that no one had followed them and watched her sleep, rather than confess. That her sleep was anything but peaceful was clear to him as soon as she fell into Morpheus's arms, but he could do nothing except wait until the morning dawned and they had to move on to shake off her pursuers.
He wanted to be angry for her on her behalf, he really wanted to, for all the treachery she had experienced several hours ago, when a group of rebels invaded the castle and seized power by a coup attempt.
His beloved queen had seen her younger sister, Alisha, get murdered cold-hearted by slitting her throat after she had already given up and submitted. The girl had never been violent, so her death was all the more cruel and ironic.
Her screams ... he could never forget those screams, he did not want to, because he would stick to those memories, make himself strong, so that Queen Shagotte would use him as a shield, a sword, a friend, whatever she needed him as. He did not care what was happening to him, she was the only important thing in the world and if he died for her ... he would do it - without hesitation.
Today, however, he could only hold the devastated woman in his arms, warm her and hope that the next day would dawn. Hope her pain would fade.
"I love you ..." he breathed again, a kiss on her head this time. "I'll take care of you ... just the two of us against the rest of the world."
He did not allow himself to sleep.

Happy birthday to my dear friend @mangaguitar96 you enjoy this. So sorry this was slightly delayed but none the less this one is for you!
It was a lazy summer day at the Redfox home. Levy was on the couch reading her favorite book while Gajeel was the floor next to her strumming his guitar. They both didn’t want to join their friends on the beach trip rather, enjoy the company of one another.
“Gajeel lets get a pet.” Levy said as the closed her book. A string from Gajeel’s guitar snapped as she said it causing to startle.
“Seriously shrimp? Now of all times?” He stammered.
“Come on a furry little friend around the house. We aren’t having any kids anytime soon so why not a pet?” She begged, he honestly wouldn’t mind a cat but being in the middle of a move in wasn’t the best time.
Levy saw the gears turning in his head and pulled out her ace. She gave him the big doe eyes that just about did the trick for anything.
Gajeel cursed as she at looked him with her doey eyes, he could never resist them not even for a moment.
“Fine we’ll go down and get a pet, but let's get a cat, dogs are way too damn needy.” He surrendered. Shw squealed for joy as she bolted from the couch to get changed. He snickered to himself, gosh he loved the way she got excited for things. Be it a new book or the summer concerts they went every year.
Inside the tall building they were greeted by a young girl named Wendy who was at the front desk.
“Welcome to the Magnolia Shelter. What can I help you with today?” She smiled sweetly.
“We are looking for a cat to adopt. We just moved into a new place and we want a furry friend.” Levy explained.
“Well today is a good day. Today we are doing an event were the adoption costs are only five-” A loud bang echoed in the back followed by yelling. A black figure darted out from the back door and tried to escape over Wendy’s desk but came careering into Gajeel’s face.
“Oh my gosh are you ok!?” Levy yelled as Gajeel grabbed hold of something furry and picked himself up. He looked in his hands and saw a small black kitten with crescent ears and a scar over his left eye.
“Well aren’t you an escape artist,” He chuckled as he got up. Wendy was spluttering with apologies, not sure of what had happened.
“We’ll take him. I like the spunk in him,” He beamed as he looked at the kitten.
“You know he looks like a panther. Why don’t we call him Pantherlily!” Levy warmly smiled.
“Why Lily? Why don’t we just call him Panther?” Gajeel countered.
“Cause it reminds me of my favorite character from one of my favorite children’s book Peter Pan.” She explained. He sighed and gave in.
“So kid what do we have to sign to keep this little guy?” He asked.
“Well I’m not sure if he’s ready-”
“Wendy give him the cat he’s caused me more trouble than it’s worth so they can have him.” The vet said behind her. She was an elderly woman with pink hair and hard eyes who seemed annoyed at the cat more than anything.
“That’s the fifth time he’s escaped, I’ll even give you his friend that came with him since she’s very supportive of their break outs.” She growled, the young couple agreed and took the two cats home with them much to the joy of the doctor.
“So what should we name her?” Levy asked as they drove home with their new companions.
“I think the kid said her name was Shagotte?” He grumbled.
“That’s a pretty name for her,” she smiled happy at the latest additions to their small family. What the couple did not know was that exactly one year later two more would be joining them.

Queen & Captain
by impracticaldemon for Shalily Week 2019, prompts: “Status Quo” & “Safety” fandom:  Fairy Tail pairing: (human) Shagotte x Pantherlily words: 1300     rating:  general (historical/fantasy fluff) [will also be available on FFnet and AO3]

~-----~
Queen and Captain
“Travel papers?”
The guard at the gate looked bored, and Pantherlily saw his eyes flick toward the horizon, and the bright orange-red glow of the setting sun.  The tall former soldier had picked his time with care—no matter how much unrest remained in both the City and the country as a whole, a man who’d spent the day on gate duty in the sun would be hungry and averse to creating work for himself. Hopefully, he’d be disinclined to examine their documents too closely.
“Here.”
“Mm.” The guard scanned the artistically aged parchment with a practised eye, and Lily was glad he’d followed Lady Shagotte’s advice and spilled tea on it the day before.  There was something very normal about tea stains. “Your wife, is she?”
“Yes.”  He managed not to hesitate, this time.  Her (former) Royal Majesty had scolded him just the day before about his reluctance to claim her—on paper!—as his bride.  She’d understood his dilemma, but pointed out that she’d rather be married—on paper!—to him, than dead at the hands of the victorious invaders for the sake of royal etiquette.  There was anonymity, and safety, in being a wife.
The guard smirked.  “Frail little thing.  Try not to break her, big man.”  He gave Lily a friendly poke, and Lily tried not to scowl.  He could tell he failed by the way the other man’s eyes narrowed.  Then again, it would have been suspicious if he’d been happy with the comment.  Or so he hoped.  Acting wasn’t Lily’s strong point.
“…Yeah.”  He shuffled his feet, desperately trying to look more like a big labourer than the former captain of the Queen’s Elite Corps.  The dirt on his hands and face was authentic enough, as was the… odour… Lady Shagotte had insisted on rubbing into the soles of his boots.
[READ MORE BELOW]
There was a long pause while the guard made a show of rereading the documents.  Pantherlily was just starting to get genuinely worried when the man stepped to one side with a shrug and a nod.
“Don’t cause any trouble. We’ll be keeping an eye on you—got it?”
“Got it.”  Pantherlily gestured his ‘wife’ over, and tried to look natural about expecting her to follow him through the gates.  It was killing him not to carry all her things for her, but she’d insisted it would look strange if he did.  With an effort, he quelled the rage in his heart at having to watch her duck her head submissively to the annoying gate guard. Her life was more important than her dignity, as she kept telling him.
“Lily…”
A soft voice recalled him to his surroundings, and he felt heat suffuse his cheeks.  Until a few days ago she’d only ever called him ‘Captain’ or ‘Captain Pantherlily’.  Even if it was just for the sake of their disguise, he found it embarrassing to hear his adored Queen use his unadorned name, and a diminutive at that.  Embarrassing and ridiculously charming—as if he didn’t love her enough already.
“Yes, My Qu—um, I mean, my… my dear?”
There was a gurgle of laughter from beside him.  Two bright eyes peered up at him from between the wide brim of an unfashionable travel hat, and a wide scarf.
“You sound so—so unconvincing, Captain!”  Then she clapped her slender hands over her mouth at her faux pas and glanced around nervously.
“Sorry,” muttered Pantherlily, also casting a wary eye over the people around them.  As far as he could tell, nobody was paying them special attention except to the extent of being cautious of his size.  He made an effort to slow his pace and drag his feet a little.
Lady Shagotte cleared her throat.  “I’m sure it’s fine, dear.  No need to look so uncomfortable just because we’re finally in the big city.”
“As you say, Sh-Shagotte.” Her name wasn’t a problem in and of itself, since many girls had been named after her while she was still a child, and even after she’d taken the throne following her parents’ tragic death. But to use such a familiar form of address—!  It simultaneously lacerated Pantherlily’s sensibilities, and made heat rise to his cheeks.  He was glad his skin was too dark to show any but the deepest blushes.
~-----~
They took a room at a moderately respectable inn, grateful for the chance to wash, even superficially. Pantherlily had already chosen the place as a short-term refuge during the early part of the one-sided war.  Lady Shagotte’s most devious advisor—and where was that irritating man now?—had arranged things so that Pantherlily would be known as a friend of a friend when he arrived.  It was fortunate that the Royal Palace was located in a town over a hundred miles from the City, though.  Otherwise, it would have been too great a risk for him to travel with the Queen, even in disguise.
“You’re frowning again, Lily,” murmured Lady Shagotte, setting a cup of tea in front of him. She’d insisted on learning to make and serve ‘commoner’s tea.
“My lady—”
“Pantherlily. You promised to try harder.  We’ll never be convincing in public if we don’t practice in private!”
Lily took a sip of tea. It was an effort to drink the bitter, ill-steeped brew, but she had made it for him, and he bore it stoically. Besides, it had improved, and now resembled tea more than ditch-water.
“…I beg your pardon, my—I mean—Shagotte.”
With her hat and gauzy scarf discarded—the door had been firmly locked—Shagotte looked much more herself again.  She was smiling, but her eyes were tired and sad, and Lily longed to hold her and—
“Well, I suppose I am your Shagotte at the moment.”
“Ah—er.”  Her words had been light, but it had been impossible—even for him—to miss the hint of underlying sincerity, or maybe hopefulness.
They stared at each other, expressions mirroring the same rush of longing, uncertainty, and  deep loneliness.  Old habits and rigid principles vied with human need for love and consolation.
Shagotte cleared her throat and looked down, eyes once more veiled by long, near-white lashes.  “Captain, I—”
Her words were abruptly muffled as Lily pulled her across the short distance into his lap, and pressed her tightly against his solid chest.  Large, capable hands stroked her back, and caressed her damp, tangled hair. He was very strong, but she was the most precious being in the world to him, and his touch communicated both love and desire—he would never hurt her, even by accident.  The gate guard had risked his life by implying otherwise.
“My Queen…  Let’s just pretend… for a while…”  He pressed his lips to her forehead, marvelling at how warm and supple she was, despite the superficial frailty that had caused such anxiety to her court officials.  They had not understood her brilliance and strength, and their fear had led to disaster.
“…Mmm… Lily…” Shagotte leaned away from him a little, just enough so that she could glimpse his face.  “Let’s—let’s stop pretending for a while.  Shall I tell you how I really feel about you?”
“No—I don’t know if I could go back to… how it must be… if you did that.”
In response, Shagotte wrapped her arms around Lily’s neck, and pulled his face down to hers.  Her beautiful eyes were brighter than ever before.
“Then I’ll show you, dear captain, dear Lily, so that you’ll never forget.”  She whispered the words against his lips, before kissing him as passionately as innocence and inexperience would allow.
“My Queen…”  Minutes passed, and when they finally needed air, Lily corrected himself, murmuring the words into her ear, while his sword-worn hands explored her soft skin:  “Shagotte, my dearest, only love…”

El amor esta aqui
By mozarellarellarella123
@shalilyweek
Writers Note:
Hello everyone!!! I’m fairly new to this community and I’m glad to be a part of it! By the way, the title (El amor esta aqui) translates to “love is here” from Spanish to English. (Not accurately) Anyway, before you read, I’d like to thank @indayiashow for helping and inspiring me to be a part of this community and to write fan-fics like this! Another note, this is actually my first fan fiction (So naturally it’s gonna be terrible) so please tell me what you think because even if you say something like: “This was terrible and never do this again”, I’d rather have that then a comment that lies to me about my work. So please leave criticism down below!!! 😊 Anyway, lets get to the story!
Fandom: Fairy Tail | Characters: (Human) Shagotte X Pantherlily | Word Count: 2,208 | Age: 13+ (Includes bad words and fluff)
Heavy and shining lightning strook the sky from the rain-filled heavy clouds above as rain wet the land like a cold shower and hit Lily’s umbrella, making a pitter-patter sound as hail hit Lily’s head like a hard rock being thrown at him. Lily was shivering cold and sidestepping along the wet pavement. He was wearing some green and purple nike trainers, a soaked shirt and tie, some drenched blue jeans and a smart top hat which was also wet. The street lamp illuminated Lily’s smile. He had finally arrived.
But where did lily arrive? Why was he in the rain and how did he find himself into this situation? It all started in Lily’s house. It was your regular, average day and lily was relaxing in his house.
He was watching a movie with the fire on, some marshmallows and a soft, woollen blanket. He heard a knock and paused the film to answer the door. “Hello-“ Lily was in shock. It was none other then his old friend Gajeel Redfox.
“What’s up punk?” Gajeel Laughed histerically while smiling cheekily. “Gajeel! It’s been a while hasn’t it?!” Lily exclaimed a little too loudly. “...”. An awkward silence occurred as the two stopped looking at each other and started to twiddle their thumbs or look the other way.
Finally, Gajeel broke the silence in a heartwarming and honest way. “Look lily, I’m sorry for what I did...” He softly said as he started to make eye contact with lily again. “I’m sorry too.....” Lily muttered awkwardly while looking down and fiddling with his fingers.
“To make it up to you, I want you to come to a party I’m hostin’. How does that sound huh?” Gajeel explained bravely. A smile spread across Lily’s face. “I would love to.” He replied with a bright smile and shaking Gajeel’s hand.
Lily would’ve brang a coat and a pair of boots if he knew it would rain this hard. He brought out an umbrella but the heavy drops of rain and the intense, strong and superior wind blew the umbrella away, leaving lily exposed to the lightning and hail.
This would’ve been a lot easier if he went to the party by car, so then he could avoid the rain and get there in a jiffy. Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t afford a car; he couldn’t even afford most things. He wasn’t the richest person in the world but he definitely had the looks.
He would’ve entered the party in style if his whole outfit wasn’t soaked to the core. Once he arrived, he knocked the door and rang the doorbell. He shivered intensely while waiting for someone to let him in. After 5 minutes had passed, lily knocked again and at last, Gajeel answered the door. He just opened the door and walked away, not even welcoming lily into his house. This was why they fell out in the first place, Gajeel being a dick.
Once he walked in, he was blinded by a disco ball, colourful lights and massive fog machines. He had to close his eyes and shove his way past everyone into the bathroom. Once he was in there, he used a towel to dry himself off and make sure he looked smart. He fixed his tie and did his collar until he looked fairly presentable. (Well at least, as presentable as you can look when you have been walking in the harsh rain for 20 minutes)
The lights weren’t blinding him when he walked out of the bathroom so he decided to take this chance to look around. There was a disco area, a karaoke/stage area,(Where Gajeel was) a snack area and a gaming area.
This area particularly peaked Lily’s interest as he was indeed a gamer. When he is off work, he usually games for 2-3 hours before going to bed. He absolutely loved gaming. Gaming was his soul. Gaming kept him alive. Gaming was his true passion and he wouldn’t give it up for absolutely anything.
He walked over to that area faster then a cat chasing a mouse and soon found himself in the middle of three sections. These sections were: The Video Game area, (Where people played video games) The board Game area, (Where people played board games) and finally, The card area, where you can imagine what they play there. He swiftly approached the video game area.
Lily sat down next to a person who had won matches 5 times in a row with complete perfection and accuracy. “So, you just arrived?” She asked menacingly while giving lily a dirty look through her black sunglasses.
She was an absolute badass. Lily gulped. He obviously picked a fight with someone way above his competition. But, he was prepared. He was ready. He turned around and what he saw was absolutely mind blowing.
It was a women with beautiful white hair that flowed down her body like a river, some beautiful jewellery that you could see your own reflection in and a beautiful dress that complimented her entire body. Lily had never seen someone so beautiful in his entire life. In fact, he has never actually felt love until now.
His heart rate went from 60 to a clean 120 in nothing short of a millisecond. “Ahem?!” She scowled intimidatingly. Lily had completely forgotten about her question because of this girl.
His mouth was watering and his senses were tingling. He quickly remembered what the women had asked him and answered as quickly as he could. “Y-y-yeah...” He awkwardly stumbled out.
She didn’t say a word after that and just started the match. They were playing smash bros and Lily loved to play as mewtwo. That was his favoutite character. The terrifying and mysterious women played as Mario, simple but complicated.
Lily turned around to see the girl watching him play. He must not lose. Or else that may lead to massive embarrassment. He had to win. It was the only way. His heart rate shot up again and he could literally feel his heart pounding out of his chest.
This match decided his fate.
The match had started. 3, 2, 1, GO!!! Lily immediately attacked his neural special which fired a shadow ball. She immediately parried it with a perfect shield. Lily was in shock.
Her instincts and reflexes were on a whole new level. A lever way higher than Lily’s playing level. She saw her advantage and immediately attacked back with 3 fireballs.
Lily didn’t have the reflexes to dodge or parry it in time, so he ended up taking the hit. 12% damage. Lily got annoyed and immediately used his side smash. This sent Mario flying and now all lily had to do was to stop her from getting back onto the stage.
On the edge, lily ceased his opportunity and used his down special, disable. This let her off the platform completely and she went flying into the distance. She had an agitated look on her face. A look of rivalry and revenge.
She was absolutely pissed. Lily gulped again. He just had to survive one more minute more until the time ran out. But there was a thin chance of him surviving her wrath.
When she respawned, she immediately started throwing punches, none of which lily could dodge. She kept on going until her final smash meter was charged up. This was bad news.
She was gonna finish him off with one last final sweep. It was called fireball finale. This was the attack that was gonna send lily flying off stage. Lily immediately started to jump around because if she missed then her chance of using it would be over. But she wasted absolutely no time in using it. There it was.
Fireball Finale.
The move that sent lily flying off stage. GAME!!! The match had ended. They both had one kill on each other. A tie. Which means this could only be settled in sudden death.
Sudden death was a finale move that ended everything off. Lily was so scared. More scared then he has ever been is his entire life. He looked at the mysterious women. Her face told of winning and determination. Lily’s face told of the opposite. SUDDEN DEATH!!! GO!!!!!
This was now or never. Lily immediately used disable, which stunned her and gave lily one last chance. One last chance to attack. The stage was filling with fire and he had finite time. He made his final attack and it finished her off. GAME!!!
She obviously was annoyed but you could literally see the red on her face. After all of Lily’s hard gaming and training, he had broken her winning streak. She immediately left annoyed and frustrated with herself.
The beautiful girl went over to him and happily said: “That was amazing!!! You did great!” Lily smiled joyously. He was victorious. “Thank you but it was nothing really...” He mumbled overconfidently.
“What’s your name?” She asked curiously. “Pantherlily. But you can call me lily.” Lily told her. “Shagotte is mine. But you can call me anything you want!” She explained excitedly. “Shagotte is just fine for me.” He replied.
This made her blush and put a massive smile on her face. They both shared a glance at each other. A glance that spoke to them saying: “Love has finally arrived. Love is here.”
They walked to the dance floor holding each other’s hands. Lily did the gentlemanly thing and asked: “May I have this dance?” Shagotte straight away started to dance with him. Kisses and hugs were exchanged and that night was one of Lily’s best nights in his entire life.
Lily couldn’t sleep that night. His thoughts had filled up with love and romance and dance like a whole new world had been opened up to him. He finally fell asleep and dreamed about Shagotte. Getting married, having kids and overall living a good life. When he woke up he cried and wished that dreams could be brought to life.
He wondered why he was so addicted. Why was he so drawn to Shagotte like a magnet? He pulled himself together and got out of bed. He put a vest and some underwear on, and shortly head downstairs for a nice bowl of cereal.
After that, he started to clean frantically. He wouldn’t normally clean but he knew that Shagotte was coming over to his house for the day, and he needed to clean. Sure his house wasn’t very “grand” or “stylish” but inviting her over would put him closer to bringing that dream to real life just like he wished.
Once he finished cleaning, he put some clothes on, used deodorant and brushed his teeth until they were sparkling clean like a diamond being polished with a cloth. He heard the doorbell ring and got excited. He rushed downstairs and took deep breaths, trying to hide his everlasting excitement for her, and finally opened the door.
“Hello!!! Come in and make yourself at home!” Lily welcomed kindly. She smiled at the warm opening and sat on the couch. “Would you like some tea or coffee?” He asked, trying to be as polite as possible.
“Coffee please! And can I have 2 sugars and milk in it as well?” She questioned while also trying to hide her excitement for him. “Coffee with milk and two sugars coming right up!!!” He exclaimed. Shagotte turned on the tv and enjoyed herself.
Once lily made two coffees, they both sat down and started a conversation. “So, how has life been treating you?” Lily asked, trying to start up a conversation. “It’s been okay I guess... It’s just that...” Shagotte muttered sadly. “I’ve been really lonely lately...”
“Yeah me too. I understand.” He said awkwardly. “I’ve been struggling for money and working at this job I hate.” She stuttered while taking a small sip of her coffee. “I’m also struggling with money and a job to find.” Lily replied.
“I have no friends, no job and no money.” She stated in a depressed tone. It was like they were in the same boat. Lily also didn’t have these things and was in a state of sadness. He decided to cheer her up.
“That’s a lie. You have one friend. And that friend is me.” He declared heartwarmingly. Lily could see the tears in her eyes. “Oh lily-“ She cried as she gave him a massive hug and a kiss.
Lily saw an opportunity and whispered in her ear: “I love you.” These three words made Shagotte burst into even more tears; tears of happiness and pure joy.
“I love you too... lily...” She sniffled while tightening her hug even more. “I absolutely hate my house. I live in a cramped flat that only has one room in it.” Lily started to feel bad because he thought that his house was bad.
“So please!!! PLEASE!!! Can I live here?!” She wailed loudly, letting all of her feelings out. “Yes. Of course you can.” Lily smiled rapidly. This resulted in even more tears and love.
The next day they became boyfriend and girlfriend. Lily had found his hope. His light at the end of the dark tunnel. His happiness. Happiness that he had been searching for but could never find. The happiness that led to a bright and joy-filled future.

Queen of Gin
A Shalily fic ~ Shagotte x Pantherlily, Fairy Tail fandom - written for @shalilyqueenwrites A small xmas fic gift!
Summary: Dubbed the Queen of Gin by her customers, Shagotte runs her speakeasy during daylight hours as a questionable poetry parlour. Investigated by a stalwart G-man who's got his own secret demons, Shagotte learns to love and trust, saving herself and her new love.
"Why would I look the other way, Miss Shagotte?" Lily rolled his eyes, grimacing as the suspected gin runner fluttered her eyelashes. "Somehow, every night, your gatherings are full of people."
"We're poetry enthusiasts." Shagotte grinned and winked at the irritated face of the attractive G-man. "Arts enrich the soul, doncha know."
"And yet your patrons see fit to enrich your pockets. All from reading poems? I think not." The tall and thickly muscled man shook his head. "You're wetting their lips with hooch, I can't prove it now, but I will soon."
"Dear heart, don't be such a tragic downer!"
"Excuse me?"
Shagotte crossed her arms, a tempting smile on her lips. "Would you prefer I call you sweetheart?"
"I'll have my numbers men nose out your accounts, and then you won't be so chipper." Lily straightened his hat and smoothed the lapels of his double-breasted suit. "Good day, Miss Shagotte."
"Always a pleasure." Shagotte leaned in close to her opponent. "You should smile more, makes you much more attractive." She smirked as Mr. D'Pantheur marched out of her salon in a snit. He was tasty, but the money she earned from selling gin illegally was more important than romancing some uptight government stooge.
><><><><
Miss Shagotte welcomed Friday night's guests with a smile and specially printed poetry booklets. Tonight she'd been given ideas from a certain G-man - and the lyrical poetry was very fresh - and very original.
Shagotte greeted the steady stream of her patrons. "Nice to see you and the missus, Mr. Dragneel! Who's your friend? Glad to see you've returned, Mr. and Mrs. O'Connel! You're in luck, tonight's reading is going to be the talk of the town." Shagotte passed out her freshly minted pamphlets, accepting a new stack from Aaron, one of her best helpers, and then urged him to assist in the kitchen.
"Talk of the town?" Lucy Dragneel tapped Shagotte on the shoulder. "I don't see an author's name on this."
"It's a surprise for later." Shagotte smiled, her eyes sparkling. "Who's your friend, Lucy?"
"I'm a regular blue-stocking, a bibliophile, an aficionado of the written word!" Lucy's friend answered, smiling as she took in the details of the parlour; dozens of rickety chairs ringing small tables - and a podium on a raised dais.
Lucy giggled and flicked the shorter woman in the forehead. "Dizzy dame, she wants your name!"
"Levy McGarden, pleased to meet you!" Levy thrust out her hand - which was accepted and rapidly pumped by Shagotte who smiled wider.
"I'm delighted to find another literature lover. You're gonna want a seat close to the action." Shagotte pointed to the front chairs. "Especially if my special guest shows."
Levy and Lucy exchanged looks of glee. They promised to find Shagotte afterwards to discuss tonight's poetry, moving to claim their seats.
At the scheduled time, Shagotte signaled for the doors to shut and she made her way to the podium. Her bright red high heels thumped at each step, drawing as much attention and admiration for her smart outfit as her smiling freckled face crowned with lustrous pale hair. Making a show of lifting her manuscript, Shagotte greeted the crowd. She made a few opening remarks about the weather and how glad she was to see so many in attendance.
She checked her watch and began to read the first poem, starting with the title: 'Bothersome Boy,' glittering amusement in her eyes and a suppressed smirk on her lips. A ripple of amusement moved around the room, the disturbance feeding Shagotte's satisfaction. She flipped to the next page and with even more passion, began reading 'Ode to Numbers: How a Certain Man Does Not Add Up.'
Reciting the third stanza of the poem, where the 'certain man' was compared in a bad light to a succession of local ne'er do-wells, Shagotte could hear the muffled honking of a bike horn from the street. With even more enthusiasm she read the next stanza. It dealt with the 'certain man's' poor fashion sense; cheap shoes and shiny tie that clashed with his suspenders. Keeping her eyes downcast on her book, Shagotte kept orating the poem. She heard the tread of a late-comer to the soiree and the creak as they settled into a chair. Another ripple of amusement circled the room as the attendees made certain connections between the new arrival and the content of the next poem which was titled 'Gee Whiz G-Man.'
Several more poems were read, with every progressive title drawing more titters of amusement. Shagotte announced an intermission and darted towards her private sitting room. Caught short by a 'certain man's' solid grip on her upper arm.
"Interesting, Miss Shagotte. You had such a good impression of me the other day, complementing my attractive smile. But today you've lambasted my clothes, job, and IQ. I'd be hurt, but I'd have to care about your impression of me for that to happen."
"Don't start off with a lie Mister G-man." Shagotte fluttered her thickly lashed eyes. "I said you would be more attractive if you smiled more." She tried to wrench herself out of Lily's grip and failed, so she glared pointedly at his large hand on her body. So large and capable looking, a bit rough but his warmth felt nice. "Do let go."
"Sorry." His cheeks flushed and he hunched his shoulders. "I've had enough of the stares, can we take this discussion out of the public eye?" Lily removed his hand from Shagotte's arm and looked at it front and back before shoving it into his coat pocket. "Please?"
"Fine," muttered Shagotte. "I'll give you ten minutes." She decided to blame her momentary lapse of judgment on the man's softly spoken plea. That was a weakness she'd work to eradicate later. Giving the watching crown an insouciant wave, Shagotte strutted off to her sanctuary as if taking Lily D'Pantheur there was actually her own idea.
Pouring herself a tall glass of water from a waiting pitcher, Shagotte took a satisfying gulp before offering Lily some. He shook his head and she giggled. "It's water, not gin. As if I'd offer you any rotgut seeing as you're so convinced I'm running hooch at my fine establishment."
"Thanks for bringing up the reason I'm here." Lily strolled around the room; taking a long, hard look at the pale pink upholstered seating, the doily encrusted wooden tables and gilt-covered frames holding brightly coloured art. "I need your help."
"You're crazy, Mister G-man." Shagotte set down her glass and crossed her arms, glaring for all she was worth at Lily. "My help? You've been accusing me of breaking the law and tryin' to shut me down. You need my help?" Angry sparks seemed to shoot from her eyes. "Please." Her chin lifted and her pink cupid's bow mouth flattened into a thin line. "You may leave."
"Not until you hear me out."
"How about you get out?"
"Please." Lily stopped his pacing in front of Shagotte. He bowed his head after removing his hat and holding it over his heart. "There's a new threat in town and I figure you're more good than bad. I see how many kids you're taking care of, you're their mother figure and someone like that can't be all bad."
"Excuse me?" Outrage made Shagotte raise her voice higher than she'd intended - several of her older helpers burst into the sitting room and milled about in as threatening a manner as they could manage.
"Do you need escortin' outside?" The oldest child stomped over to Lily. "Don't make me ask you twice." Miranda settled her hands on her thin hips and let her disgust show. She would have been exceedingly cute except for the jagged scar that covered her left cheek from her jaw to under her ear. With Lily remaining silent, Miranda turned to her boss. "Miss Shagotte, do you want us to give this bum the bum's rush?"
Shagotte held up a hand and shook her head. "He's a bum all right, but I need to hear him out. He's a government goon, yet I'm curious about what he's got to say."
Miranda sighed, as did the other three young adults; Richard, Betty, and Karl. The leader of the group, Miranda pouted but held her tongue.
"I'm not anything near a bum." Lily held up his hands in mock surrender. "I'm a hard working government soldier."
"Just yell if you need us, Miss Shagotte." Miranda and the others filed out of the room.
"More like hardly working government soldier." Shagotte deliberately turned her back to Lily, sauntering towards a credenza covered in books and potted plants. She turned and leaned against the piece of furniture. "What is it you want, Mr. D'Pantheur?"
Lily gulped, the sound loud and surreal in the confines of Shagotte's sitting room. "I want to understand you."
"I do believe you've flipped your lid."
"No." Lily rubbed his forehead. "The new gangs moving in are trouble. I've come to see you're the lesser of two evils."
"Thanksssss." Shagotte drew out the 'es' of her reply. "You sure know how to make a gal feel good about herself."
"Give me a chance and you'll never look back."
"Why should I?"
Lily D'Pantheur dropped his hat and sank to his knees in front of Shagotte. His voice was a soft echo of his former volume. "Because I know you are doing whatever it is you're doing to keep those kids off the street." He looked Shagotte dead in her eyes and smiled. "And if you don't work with me your business is doomed to failure."
Shagotte clenched her hands into fists. "Threatening a woman is a low and disgusting action."
"I'm afraid it's a promise." Lily slowly stood, rising to his full height. "You can work with me to bring down the new threat in the neighbourhood or be smashed with them."
Never slow or foolish, Shagotte took in all the new information given by Mr. G-man. A sour smile on her lips, she thrust out her hand and spoke. "Let's shake on it."
To be continued ^^

butterflies
@shalilyweek
He immediately saw, that she was happy. How could you not see it? A broad grin graced her lips, her eyes shone with unconcealed rapture, her whole face beaming, and even the aura he could truly feel of her was nothing but excitement.
Pantherlily was glad that he had suggested going into a butterfly house and looking at the colorful butterflies, perhaps even feeling them close up. He had made her put on an orange top. It was not her favorite color, but he knew butterflies were magically attracted to these colors.
Of course he could have suggested pink, purple or red to her, but ... he wanted to see her in something other than ther usual colors. He chuckled softly. He could not even feel guilty, when he saw her excitement as the first animal settled on her shoulders. She hardly dared breathe, let alone move. Still, he carefully took his camera out to take pictures of her because he was sure she wanted a lasting memory of it.
Shagotte beamed at him as if she were the sun herself and his heart was melting.
She was just adorable.

Apologies @indayiashow for how long it took me to finish your request! Here it is, and a special thanks @requip-mage for beta-ing this for me.
Title: Her Smile Summary: He prided himself on making her blush and smile. Even if they had met not too long ago, even if they were just co-workers. Just. Co-workers. (Shalily one-shot, modern AU)
It didn’t take much to make her blush.
Lily felt his heart race at the realization. He knew his boundaries…after all, they had barely met a few days ago and were co-workers. Just...co-workers.
Unfortunately, that didn't mean her silver-white hair didn't shimmer in the sunlight, or that her like freckles didn't crown her face to look like a queen, or that her graceful footsteps didn't make his heart beat erratically.
They had talked maybe once, twice, but this was new.
Lily had been brought to this particular bar by his friend Gajeel, who had a date, but Gajeel was apparently too embarrassed to come alone. Of course, Gajeel went off dancing with his date and left Lily standing to the side. Then, he had seen her sitting at the bar, resting her head on her hand. He didn't even realize he was moving until his hand touched the seat beside hers.
"Are you alone here, Shagotte?" he asked. She jolted, turning to him suddenly before exhaling in relief.
"Oh, Lily." she acknowledged. She gave a sort of exhausted laugh, shrugging. "No...well, I wasn't." She gestured to a man dancing in the middle of the floor, holding a woman's waist and pulling her close to him. Lily's eyes narrowed, then he looked back at her. She lightly pushed her drink in circles, sighing.
"I...I'm sorry." he had said. She shook her head.
"Don't be. I rushed into this one, trying desperately to get over my ex-husband." Shagotte replied, wearily. “It’s been a backward few years. I'm just trying to let everything go. If you know what I mean."
"Yeah...yeah, I understand." Lily recalled his own ghosts, like a little boy with blue hair and a tired smile. He ordered a scotch before sitting beside her. Taking a sip (or a few, anyway), he felt less in control of his thoughts. His mind raced, grasping for the words to say. Unable to properly voice his feelings, he asked, "Why would your husband leave a beautiful, strong willed, smart woman like you? He must be crazy!"
That's when she blushed, and when he realized she blushed very easily. He meant what he had said, so he couldn’t pretend the words hadn’t left his mouth.
She was very beautiful. Very, very beautiful. He wondered if she knew. He wondered if her ex-husband ever told her that.
"He actually was in an accident," Shagotte explained, blush lingering and melancholy hanging in her eyes. "We got married very young, too young for most. I have a daughter, Carla."
"Yeah? I'm sorry to hear that. A daughter, huh?"
"Yeah, she's in junior high." Shagotte pushed back her hair with a sweep of her fingers. “It’s been hard to care for her on my own…I’m jumping ahead too much still, rushing into everything. It must be hard for her too.” She paused with a sad smile. “The things we do for love and family.”
"Yeah," Lily replied distantly, staring at her gentle smile.
"Shagotte, who's this?"
Lily looked up to see Shagotte's supposed date putting his arm around her shoulders, giving Lily a nasty look. Lily narrowed his eyes. Shagotte shrugged off his arm with a weary smile. "This is Lily, he works with me. Um, you don't have to force yourself."
The man raised an eyebrow. "Force myself? To do what?"
"To spend time with me, it's alright. The woman over there probably would like to dance...I'm going to head home." Shagotte explained, getting up. "I'll see you around, George."
George grabbed for Shagotte's arm. "No no, stay here! We can go home together afterwards."
Lily saw Shagotte's eyes widen in fear. Lily pried George's hand off of her in a rush of fury. "Get your hands off of her," he hissed. "She wants to leave."
"Who are you to say anything?!" George demanded.
"She wanted to leave, I am defending her!" Lily retorted.
George didn't seem to agree. Pulling back his other arm, he punched Lily square in the face. Shagotte screamed from behind them.
Lily gritted his teeth, pushing forward with his forearm, shoving George back. George reached to hit him again, and Lily grabbed his arm to pull him forward, then hit a well-placed chop to the back of George's neck. George fell forward, hitting his head against the floor and groaning on the ground.
Lily glanced back to see Shagotte explaining what had happened to the bouncer, who grabbed George by the back of his shirt and dragged him out. Lily felt a bit of blood trickle from his nose, which ached, but otherwise got away with little damage.
"Are you alright?" he asked Shagotte. She rubbed her obviously bruised wrist as she stared at him, lip quivering.
"I should be asking you that!" she exclaimed. "You're bleeding! Ah...bartender, may I have napkins?" Grabbing them, she dabbed at his face and held a napkin to his nose.
Lily felt his face heat up, feeling her dainty and gentle fingers against his face. He pulled the napkin out of her hands, holding it on his own. He smiled at her, as she gazed worriedly in response. "I'm fine, really." Lily responded.
"I'm sorry you got into that because of me."
"It's not your fault, it's his own."
"No, it's mine. I shouldn't have agreed to come anyway."
"Don't say that," Lily told her, shaking his head. "You're allowed to pursue your own happiness, besides," and he would always blame his words on the alcohol, "I was glad to see you."
He was ecstatic to see the shade of pink spread across her cheeks once again. She stammered out some sort of response to the sweet line, messing with a strand of her hair unsurely. He chuckled.
"May I take you home?" Lily asked. Shagotte's face reddened even more, and Lily realized the underlying meaning of his words. "N-Not in that way, just...bring you to your house." he clarified, thoroughly embarrassed. Both of them had extremely red faces.
"Y-Yes, I would like that," she stuttered in response. Lily laughed sheepishly, a smile stuck on his face. He pulled out his phone to let Gajeel know he was heading out, then walked with her to his car. He had been right in assuming George had brought her, so she didn't really have a ride back.
They went to retrieve their coats before walking outside, Lily paying the tab for himself and Shagotte to her disdain. They talked as they walked down the street, and Lily's cheeks were hurting from smiling so much...but seeing her smile back made it worth it.
Lily opened the door for her, and she got in quickly. He followed suit, sitting before starting his car.
The drive to her house was more silent than before, save for the directions to her house. When Lily peeked out of the corner of his eye, he saw Shagotte leaning against the window with a gentle smile. Heart pounding, he knew he was doomed.
Death by beautiful co-worker’s beauty…it could be worse.
Reaching her apartment, Shagotte smiled at him. “Thank you so much for bringing me home, Lily. I’d better go back inside…Carla will be waiting for me.” She ran her hand through her hair with a gentle sigh.
“Before you go…” Lily started, biting his lip. He looked at her carefully. “...would you...like to go on a date sometime?”
Shagotte’s somehow knowing smile, as if she had predicted this, completely threw him off. He was right in assuming she’d be the death of him. “I’d absolutely love that, Lily. Let’s plan something later, sound good?”
She opened the car door before quickly leaning over and pressing a kiss to his cheek. Lily felt a trace of lipstick ghosting against his warm cheek.
“And thank you for standing up for me. See you on Monday!” With that, she dashed outside and into the apartment, leaving Lily shell-shocked in his car.
She had him hooked, and they hadn’t even gone on a date yet.
Hope you enjoyed!

heat & safe
@shalilyweek
She woke to the scorching heat that enveloped her entire body. Thick puffs of smoke crept slowly across the floor and for a moment she was disoriented. What was going on here? Why was it so hot and so stuffy that she could not breathe? A coughing fit promptly seized her and she had to give in.
Only then did she realize what was happening. Her eyes widened in horror. The apartment block was burning - or at least something near her. She swung her legs over the edge of the bed to get up, but stumbled as she was vertical. What-? Again she coughed, but this time she could not stop. It was getting worse: the heat, the smoke, the dizziness that had seized her ...
Shagotte had to get out of here, and quickly, if she wanted to see the next day. Most of the burnt victims did not die from the fire - they died from smoke poisoning and she needed fresh air.
She reached for the window to open it to find an escape route, but she slipped for a moment and screamed. The handle was burning hot and this one was made of plastic. Her metal door knob would be too hot to handle. Or…? One glance at the door was enough to see that the smoke billowed beneath the slit, blocking the corridor. Panic rose in her, which she had laboriously suppressed. How was she supposed to get out of here, out into freedom and security?
Again her eyes flickered to the window. She had no choice, it was the only way. So she grabbed her blanket and wrapped her hand over it before she twisted the handle with this improvised glove and finally, finally, the window opened. Greedily, she gasped.
Then she looked down.
A bad mistake, as she immediately realized. She felt sick when she saw the depth and the dim feeling in her head did not help. She hesitated. Once again she looked to the door and with horror she realized that it was now in flames and crackled loudly when it burned. The smoke became more disgusting as the paint burned and she had to choke, causing another coughing fit.
She looked over the windowsill and suddenly there was a terrible bang, so she lost her balance in fright and fell over in the front. A bloodcurdling scream escaped her.
That's it. She was dead, she would-
She blinked in surprise. She would not fall to her death. With a trembling body, she opened her eyes, which she had closed and saw strong, muscular arms that held her tight. Her gaze wandered upwards, up into a distinctly angular face. Dark eyes stared at her seriously and she wanted to say something to ask who he was, how he could catch her, but no sound came out.
"W-w-" she croaked, before coughing again, but she was already getting much better air than before. "Not. You can ask me questions later, first I have to get you out of harm's way, "he said, his voice deep and reassuring that she immediately felt better. He dropped her across the street, looked at her and smiled. "You're safe now." With these words, he crouched down a few feet and jumped several yards in a leap, she was left staring after her savior, this superhero, stunned.
If she had had enough strength, she would have blushed, so she made only a faint but grateful smile.

Shalily fluff please~❤️ Maybe human au if possible ^.^
the good knight
summary: It’seasy to recognize him from across the ballroom because he is so tall. Shalily.notes: Congratulations to @indayiashow, who has graduated and will now be moving onto the next stage of life! How wondrous of a time for you! This short one is for you. (I wantedto get it done that day but I got a little tied up with other obligations—sothis is my delayed congratulations!)10for10k: 487 (cumulative 8,615)
It’s easy to recognize Lily because he is so tall—even fromall the way all the way across the prom ballroom floor.
Shagotte is in the tallest heels that she is comfortablewearing to her senior formal, but her five-foot figure and three-inch-heelsdoes nothing for her height.
She is still—as ever, as always—the shortest.
But at least he is easy to find because of his height—andbecause of his predictability.
Lily—as expected—has parked himself in front of the snacktables along the edges of the grand dance hall. He has a plate of fruit in onehand and a toothpick in the other, methodically picking out—of course—the kiwislices.
She smiles upon seeing his familiar figure, picking up thehems of her dress and quickly striding over to meet him.
“Lily,” she greets him in a hurried breath. “I thought youweren’t able to come! I thought your brother and your sister needed to bebabysat at home today!”
“Oh,” he says, turning toward her. “It turns out that thereservation my mom and dad made at that fancy restaurant was never actuallymade—my dad didn’t realize that he only got through half the process and didn’tput a deposit down.”
“That’s unfortunate,” Shagotte replies. “I’m sorry to hearthat for your parents.”
She tries not to stare too hard at how fresh and charmingLily looks in something much more formal than the sweaters and jeans sheusually saw him in during school hours.
He shrugs, giving her a sloppy smile. “At least I get tocome to prom.”
He discreetly glances around and behind her.
“So…” he begins. “…did you find someone to come with youafter all?”
Shagotte finds herself blushing. She can’t help the nervousyet excited bout of giggles that slips past her lips. “Oh no,” she replies,laughing. “I’m just here with my friends.”
“Yeah?” he asks.
And her eyes widen as he sets down the plate of kiwis andreaches for her right hand with both of his.
“Then can I be the knight in shining armor for this daintyfair princess?”
Her jaw drops slightly as she looks up to face his intense intense eyes. Her lips part to answer—
“No,” she stutters finally, closing her eyes before castingher eyes off to the side. Her eyebrows are furrowed and she’s taken her handsback to herself, crossing them over her chest.
He sees her pink-flushed face and smiles with amusement. “No?”he asks, playfully teasing.
She shifts her eyes back at him, maintaining her stance.
“I don’t need aknight in shining armor, and I am not adainty fair princess,” she explains. “Just because I’m shorter than everyone inthe school doesn’t mean I need any protection from a big tall person like you.”
He chuckles. “Okay then,” he agrees. “Then can I make yournight, instead?”

Request of Shagotte and Pantherlily (human forms) from @indayiashow I'm terribly sorry for being so late. I also failed at attempting a background. I really hope you like it! I may color it in the future, but I'm so busy I can't at the moment.

A request for Pantherlily and Shagotte
Pantherlily watched Gajeel and Levy from a distance, partly amused, partly exasperated by the pair. The duo had been doing the same dance for over a year now and the exceed shook his head in frustration as he wondered how long it would take the two of them to realize that they were in love. He turned as a soft, well known chuckle sounded beside him and grinned down at the small white exceed beside him.
“They’re so much like us, aren’t they?” Shagotte asked, her eyes dancing merrily.
He grunted as he turned slightly so he could keep an eye on both the beautiful exceed in front of him and his human companion.
“I don’t think I was ever that dense,” He finally muttered.
The queen raised one eyebrow delicately, “No?”
He crossed his arms, glaring away from her, grumbling about how he could never be as stupid as his partner.
Shagotte laughed lightly, causing him to blush, “Let me remind you.”
Pantherlily rolled his eyes as he listened to the white exceed begin to speak.
~~~~
Shagotte stood in front of her mirror, looking dolefully into her reflection. Since being crowned queen she’d felt so alone. All of her old friends seemed too afraid to speak to the newly crowned royalty and she knew her new friends were only there because she was powerful. The only ones she felt she could count on were her advisors and they seemed more like a crowd of parents rather than friends.
“Your Majesty,” A knock sounded on her door, followed by her personal bodyguard, Patherlily, speaking through it. “It’s almost time.”
She sighed as she adjusted her over-sized coat over her shoulders, squaring them as she turned to face the large panther in front of her.
“Patherlily, how many times have I told you, Shagotte will do just fine?” She teased as she wrapped one small hand around his arm.
“And I know I’ve asked you to call me Lily,” He replied, staring ahead.
She giggled quietly before composing her face into one of serenity as she replied, “It’s difficult to call a large man as yourself ‘Lily’ without wanting to burst into giggles.”
He glanced down at her quickly as they walked the hall together, smirking slightly.
“And it’s hard to call a Queen by anything other than Your Majesty when you’ve grown accustomed to saying it.”
Shagotte inclined her head slightly in understanding just as they reached the double doors.
“Ready for this?” He asked, real concern tinging his voice.
She inhaled deeply before nodding once, “I have no other choice.”
~~~~~~
Shagotte stared idly at the letter that rested on her desk. Patherlily had been sent away for a time and she would have to replace him as a bodyguard until he returned. She bit her lip, sighing heavily. She knew her advisors were trying to seperate the two. They weren’t comfortable with how close the Queen had become to her protector. She shook her head in frustration. What was she supposed to do? She had no real friends without the large exceed. He was there night and day, listened to her complaints, talked to her about trivial things. She taught him to read and write and in return he taught her how to use a sword. She growled as she threw the letter into the fire. Her only friend and now he’d been taken away, too.
A tentative knock sounded on her door and she called out an annoyed ‘come in’ before she went back to staring into the fire.
“I’m sorry, Ma’am,” A maid appeared before her. “But Captain Pantherlily asked me to give you this before he left.”
Shagotte stared down at the small envelope and hope filled her as she gently took it from her maid.
“Thank you, Annie,” She said softly. “You should probably be getting to bed though.”
The small ginger-haired feline curtsied once before stepping out of the room, closing the doors firmly behind her.
Shagotte picked up the letter and smiled softly at the hastily and messily scrawled words.
My Queen,
I am being sent away. I know it’s not by your orders. It seems that our closeness is frowned upon by many and I believe they are sending me away to keep me from you. I do not know if this letter will find you. I pray that Annie is still loyal to you rather than those that would make you a puppet queen, but I know that many servants have turned already. Please know that I am thinking of you while I’m gone. I have much to discuss with you when I return. In my place I have assigned a man I trust completely. I hope you don’t mind that I took the liberty of doing so, but I know he will protect you at all costs. I shall return as swiftly as I can. Until then, my Queen.
Your Humble Servant,
Pantherlily
Shagotte sighed in relief. She only knew a handful of the guards and had been nervous about picking out a new one. Whoever Pantherlily picked out was good enough for her, knowing that he would not pick someone that was unsuitable for the job.
~~~~~~
The days passed in tedium for the Queen. The exceed that Pantherlily had picked out was a good one and an attentive one, but Shagotte found herself longing for her companion all the same. She listened to the complaints of the people, ruling and judging those who needed her guidance but she would be lying if she said she wasn’t distracted. A clamour in the hall caught her attention, dragging her from the daydream she’d been trying to immerse herself into. Quickly she gave her ruling before dismissing the rest of the claimants for the day.
“What is going on?” She hissed quietly to one of her advisors.
“Pantherlily has returned,” a courtier whispered to her.
Shagotte stood quickly, uncaring of the disapproving looks as she gathered her coat around her and hurried down the long hall. She paused in surprise when she saw him. He looked worn and more than a little tired, but what shocked her the most was the small bundle in his arms. The child’s head was bandaged but he seemed to sleep peacefully in the arms of his savior. Before she could utter a word a shocked cry sounded from behind her as the court noticed him. Her eyes met his for a brief moment and she saw the flash of fear and worry in his before he lowered his head once more.
~~~~~~
The years passed slowly for the Queen. After exiling Pantherlily she found herself without a companion to rely on. So it came as no surprise to her when she found herself outside, surrounded by strangers, while a small, strange exceed stared her down. Of course, she’d known her child as soon as she laid eyes on Charle but still, the young exceed was a stranger to her.
~~~~~~
Pantherlily had been the one to find her when Edolas’ exceeds were thrown to Earthland. She had been weak and alone. Despite the many offers for others to stay with her, Shagotte had wanted to be alone. In Edolas she’d felt lonely despite being surrounded by servants and here, in strange settings, it was even worse. Better to be alone in actuality than to feel alone while surrounded by others. That meant, however, that there had been no one to protect her when she’d needed it. She had given herself up for dead when Lily had come striding through with his partner, easily dispatching the wolves that had surrounded her. Worn to the bone and surprised to see a familiar face the queen had collapsed.
When she had come to, Shagotte had found herself in Fairy Tail’s infirmary, surrounded by the three exceeds and other, less familiar, faces. Happy beamed down at her, offering her fish, while Charle sat beside her, smiling softly. Even Pantherlily was there, seemingly pleased that she had opened her eyes. As the days had passed Lily was ever her guide into the new world, coaxing her to join Fairy Tail and even helping her find a new home close to the guild.
~~~~~
Shagotte leaned lightly on Pantherlily’s arm as she recalled everything the two had been through. Now here they were, a year later, watching two that seemed so alike and yet so different from them. It had taken Lily almost eight months after finding her for him to confess his love for her. Her happiness had been beyond words and she had immediately accepted his offer of courtship.
“Do you think he’ll ever tell her the truth?” She asked quietly, referring to Gajeel.
The dark exceed grunted but a soft smile play on his lips, “In time.”
“Well, I hope he does soon,” She announced. “Levy is a fine girl and she deserves a fine man.”
Pantherlily nodded once in agreement before turning to her fully.
“And what about you?” He asked.
“What about me?”
“Don’t you deserve a fine man?”
She beamed up at him as he bent his head toward her.
“I already found him,” She answered softly right before his lips touched hers.

Thunder
My response to “Military” for @shalilyweek :) I kept trying to write a one-shot with dialogue, but nothing felt right. That’s why I decided to go with a more poetic approach. I’m happy with how it turned out and I hope you are as well. Enjoy!  ☻  ϟ
Lightning
Flash!
Thunder
Crash!
Limbs flying!
Everyone’s dying!
Something on me,
Set me free!
Panic sets in!
Feel the adrenaline!
Bursts of light, he has to fight!
Death for death, frantic breath
Punches meet air, they’re everywhere!
A noise breaches space, spin to see a face
Braces for combat! She calls for him to come back...
A name floats through the air and caresses his senses
Realization releases the tension that wound him so tight
Jungle heat transforms into a tangled, sweaty cotton sheet
Cool and collected, her soft hand reaches cautiously for his cheek
She moves gently and slowly, never fearful despite what she witnessed.
A touch so loving for a man so broken, he leans into its steady pulse of life
Foreheads meet in a touch so sweet that he falls deaf to the storm still raging outside
“I love you” he suggests and “I love you” she confirms as the thunder roars in defeat.

He could not help it. Of course, he knew it was ... not the best option. But how else could he observe her unhindered in her ballet training if he did not hide ... like a stalker? Lily felt so uncomfortable watching an unknown woman for hours, but ... as he said: he could not help it.
Not if she looked so beautiful, so ethereal, so ... gorgeous. It seemed to him as if she was not of this world. Everything spoke for it.
Her alabaster skin, her white-blond hair, silvery eyes, that gorgeous face, her elegance, her dedication to her workout ... she was just magical. No normal person could hover so effortlessly across the floor, he simply did not believe in it.
Sometimes he wondered why he did this, day after day, hour after hour, but then his gaze fell on her ghostly appearance, and at the same moment he answered his own question. For her, to see how she danced as if there was nothing else in this world, just her, the music and her movements.
She formed a rhythm that seemed strange to him, and yet he began to look at it as familiar. He had watched her too often not to. On some days, when she awoke from her trance and looked around, he had to hide so she would not see him - he was not sure how to explain his presence.
"I'm sorry, but I discovered you one day training and found you fascinating, so I've been watching you every day ever since."
He could not say that without sounding like someone in need of psychiatric treatment for obsessive and stalker-like behavior. It was not like that at all - at least not quite. It was not that he wanted to watch her out of the shadows forever, at some point, if he had accumulated enough courage, he would address her too, but until then he had to come to terms with the words and hope that he did not seem too intrusive.
Lily sighed wistfully as he looked back at her. How can a single, human being simply be so ... perfect?
He saw her start packing her things after drinking some water from her bottle. His mood sank immediately and with a sad expression he realized that it was over for today. It just felt like he had appeared a few minutes ago, in fact, he stood here for nearly two hours - her entire workout time over.
He wanted to leave, he really wanted it, but then ... then she looked up and he froze. So they looked at each other, both amazed. Then a ray of light fell on her and he could have sworn he saw glittering wings on her back ... she smiled at him and his breath caught.
She looked really adorable, she did not seem irritated by him and his presence-
"Hi how-"
She did not get any further, because he whirled 180 ° around his own axis, took his legs in his hand and ran, like the devil were on his heels. He was not ready to face her, the only thing he thought in his panic.
What he could not explain were the wings ... or had he just imagined them?
