Indian Women’s U19: We are world champions, we are going to change history, don’t fight with us, we are daughter of India.
Some came from Delhi, some from UP, some from Haryana and some grew up in Bengal. But, when they united for the glory and honor of the tricolor, they were called the daughters of India, who were not easy to conquer. Witness the land of South Africa, where many detractors tried to take away their rights from them, but, the daughters of India gave a jaw-dropping reply to all and brought home the U-19 World Cup. That world champion’s medal, without which Indian women’s cricket was incomplete and which every woman in India would now be proud of.
Celebrate… India’s daughters are now world champions. Be proud… because the daughters of India have written a new history. An example of courage and bravery has been set. He has lived up to the trust of 140 crore Indians. He knows very well the importance of the World Cup for the country. That is why Mahatma Gandhi has given a message to the whole world from his workplace – do not clash with us, we are the daughters of India. BCCI Announces India Women’s ODI Squad for Australia Tour, Two Star Players Dropped
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the 16-member India Women’s ODI squad on November 19 for the upcoming three-match series against Australia. Harmanpreet Kaur will continue to lead the side, with Smriti Mandhana serving as her deputy. The series is set to begin on December 5 at Allan Border Field, Brisbane.
The squad announcement raised eyebrows with the notable omissions of opener Shafali Verma and all-rounder Shreyanka Patil. Shafali, who has been a consistent performer in the past, has struggled with form lately, managing only 56 runs in the recent ODI series against New Zealand. Shreyanka, on the other hand, did not feature in the New Zealand series due to shin splints and remains out of the squad.
Other players missing from the squad include Dayalan Hemalatha, Uma Chetry, and Sayali Satgare. Hemalatha is currently representing the Perth Scorchers in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), where she has scored 88 runs in six innings with a top score of 41.
In a positive development, Harleen Deol has been recalled to the ODI setup. Her last ODI outing was against Australia at Wankhede Stadium in 2023. Harleen has accumulated 207 runs in 10 ODIs, including two half-centuries, at an average of 25.87. Young wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh also makes her return after missing the New Zealand series to focus on her Grade 12 final exams.
India Women’s ODI Squad
The squad comprises a mix of experienced players and rising talents: Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana (vc), Priya Punia, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harleen Deol, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Richa Ghosh (wk), Tejal Hasabnis, Deepti Sharma, Minnu Mani, Priya Mishra, Radha Yadav, Titas Sadhu, Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh Thakur, and Saima Thakor.
ODI Series Schedule
The series will kick off with back-to-back matches at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field on December 5 and December 8. The final game will take place at WACA Ground, Perth, on December 11.
Meanwhile, Australia’s squad announcement is awaited. Their skipper Alyssa Healy remains doubtful after suffering a knee injury during the WBBL. Should she be unavailable, Tahlia McGrath is likely to lead the hosts.
This series is expected to be a litmus test for India’s preparations as they look to build a cohesive unit for future global tournaments. Fans will keep a keen eye on how the squad performs, especially in the absence of seasoned players like Shafali Verma.

[ad_1] Shafali Verma has been dropped. PC – BCCI Shafali Verma, the 20-year-old batter, has been left out of the India squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia, starting on December 5 in Brisbane. Shreyanka Patil, Dylan Hemalatha, Uma Chetry, Asha Sobhana, Pooja Vastrakar and Sayali Satgare aren’t part of the squad either. Incidentally, Shreyanka, India’s star spinner, has been struggling with a shin injury, and she didn’t play in any of the games in the three-match ODI rubber versus New Zealand. Sobhana and Pooja too have had injury setbacks and weren’t part of the New Zealand series. Shafali could aggregate just 97 runs in the just-concluded T20 World Cup in the UAE. In the last two years, she has also been averaging a mere 14 in the ODI format. Meanwhile, the inexperienced pair of Tejal Hasabnis and Saima Thakor have been included. Thakor made her ODI debut against New Zealand last month, taking four wickets. The medium pacer also made a useful contribution with the bat in the second game. On the other hand, Hasabnis accumulated 57 runs during that series. Harleen Deol, the spinning all-rounder, returns to the set-up. Harleen, who has played 34 times for the country, was laid low by a knee injury while representing Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League. Titas Sadhu, the medium pacer, who has partaken in nine T20Is, also finds a place. Minnu Mani, the off-spinner, who recently led India A against Australia A, has made it to the ODI squad for the first time. Harmanpreet Kaur will once again lead the Indian contingent. India squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana (vc), Priya Punia, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harleen Deol, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Richa Ghosh (wk), Tejal Hasabnis, Deepti Sharma, Minnu Mani, Priya Mishra, Radha Yadav, Titas Sadhu, Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh Thakur, Saima Thakor Series schedule: First ODI: Brisbane, December 5 Second ODI: Brisbane, December 8 Third ODI: Perth, December 11 The post Shafali Verma left out of India squad for Australia ODIs appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports.
