Magnus Bane x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 2107 words
Warnings: none
Summary: Magnus taking a special interest in you, Clary's human best friend who resembles a lover Magnus had centuries ago
Just a concept I was tossing around. Let me know what you think and If I should work on a mini-series based on this
—————————————————————————————————
“Just stay close and don’t say anything” Jace reminded, leading you and the rest of your party into Hardtail, his eyes focused on the surrounding crowd, constantly scanning for danger.
This whole thing should be easy.
All they had to do was find Magnus and get him to give Clary her memories back. All things considered, it should have been an in and out mission, something they had done a million times before.
...but they could never be too careful.
Especially considering that they had been forced to bring along some dead weight, in the form of you, as extra insurance.
Just in case the Warlock in question tried anything.
“This is a terrible idea” Alec grumbled, the words falling on mostly deaf ears, though by this point, even Clary was wondering if bringing you along had been the right call.
You were insistent, as soon as you found out that you could be of help but you weren’t blind. You knew that you were in over your head, heading into a downworlder bar with a couple of shadowhunters without any real idea what you were doing there.
Under any other circumstances, you would have turned tail and ran in the other direction, but this was for Clary.
If this ‘High Warlock of Brooklyn’ could give Clary her memories back, and help her figure out what their next step was, you were going to do anything you could to make that happen.
“We don’t even know if this will work-” he continued, earning an elbow to the side from Izzy, who knew exactly where he was going with that.
She knew what they should have already figured out, that once you found out why you were here, you were going to freak out for sure. After all, it wasn’t everyday that you found out that you bore a striking resemblance to someone else, long dead.
It wasn’t something you would be prepared to hear, so it would just be better if you could all get through this without you figuring out what you were actually doing here.
You took notice of the strange exchange between the Lightwoods but decided to ignore it.
The two of them were known to bicker, even to someone who had known them for a few short weeks, and you had more important matters at hand.
Like making sure you didn’t accidentally bump into a vampire or something as you made your way into the club.
“Keep your head down, and don’t go too far” Clary whispered, webbing her fingers with your own as you passed through the crowd, your grib unintentionally tightening as the reality of the situation set in.
Clary was built for this, it was in her blood, but you weren’t.
It wasn’t until you showed up to things like this that you realized just how far out of your depth that you were.
“I’m not going anywhere, trust me” you whispered back, focusing more on putting one foot in front of the other more than anything. Before now, you were sure that the correct answer to the question Jace asked you was yes.
Now that you were here though, you weren't so convinced.
You understood that getting Magnus to meet with you was a long shot in the first place, and you couldn't afford to mess it up, but you just weren’t sure why they needed you. Out of everyone here, you were the most out of place.
Anyone looking in on the scene in front of them would have seen just how much you didn’t belong. Not that anyone around you was all that concerned with you so far, all too focused on the music and lights.
As long as you did as you were told and kept your head down, everything would be fine.
All things considered, your job was easy.
You just had to stay out of the way, and hope that Jace and Alec didn’t need you for whatever it was they thought you could be useful for. Which could have been anything and you wouldn’t have known any better.
The Shadowhunters were so secretive, only telling you what they thought you needed to know, and even then, they always tended to leave out the important stuff.
It made working with them very difficult.
Still, you did what you were told and kept your head down, doing your best to blend in until something changed, which didn’t look like it was going to happen at first.
All in all, it looked to be a pretty standard conversation, though you couldn’t hear any of what they were saying from the distance you were at.
Of course, It wasn't until someone shot an arrow into some guy in the background that you realized just how wrong you were. Evidently, there had been an assassin in the crowd the entire time and no one noticed until Alec put him down.
Which, in turn, spooked the reclusive Warlock into nearly diving back into his wormhole.
He got his jewel, but from the looks on Jace and Clary’s faces, they didn’t get nearly as much as they were hoping for. The only thing that kept Magnus in place was the redhead’s grasp on his wrist, which likely wouldn’t be enough to hold him.
Clearly, they needed something else, which was exactly why they brought you.
You had inadvertently become the most important part of this mission just now, and that meant it was your time to shine, even if you didn’t exactly know what your part to play was.
Without missing a beat, Izzy shot over to whisper something in your ear, something that really didn’t seem like it would work. Though, by this point, you weren’t sure that you had any right to question any of the shadowhunters.
After all, you didn’t even know they existed until a couple weeks ago.
You shot Izzy one more questioning glance, just to make sure she was serious about this before she nodded, telling you to continue with the plan. If anything was going to get Magnus to stick around, it was this.
“Magnus, wait!” you called, doing your best to cut through all the noise that Alec’s arrow and subsequent murder had brought on, which worked surprisingly well.
As it would turn out, just because the Shadowhunters had neglected to tell you that you looked like the long lost love of his life didn’t mean that Magnus was going to. Even the sound of your voice was enough to ring alarms in his head.
He hadn’t heard that sound in so long.
Almost immediately, the Warlock spun around on his heels, his attention finding you immediately. It didn’t make sense, and there was no way that he could have explained it but there was no denying the truth.
Not when it was staring him right in the face.
It was you, and it didn’t matter how it had happened, not now. All he cared about in this moment was that you had come back to him, after all these years. . It was incredible, but even with as thrilled as Magnus was, staying here wasn’t safe. If Valentine managed to find him here, that meant that he likely already knew where the others were.
Every second he spent away was another second evil had to prevail.
Not to mention the fact that he couldn’t exactly trust the shadowhunters to tell him the truth. For all he knew, Magnus could have been looking at some glamour of sorts, and they were tricking him.
He was just having a hard time believing what he was looking at. After all this time, it didn't seem right to see you again.
“You always did like places like this” he hummed, that same far away look clouding his vision as had been this entire time.
No one had ever looked at you like that.
He was looking at you like the whole building could come crumbling down around you and it wouldn’t have mattered one bit. Like you had physically put the sun in the sky, and you barely knew who he was.
“I’ll be in touch”
...and with that, he was gone.
Though, the thought of walking away from you a second time was nearly enough to break his heart, he didn’t have a choice.
There would be no opportunity to talk to you if he was dead, besides, if they wanted to get Clary’s memories back, they were going to need his help.
~
“Who was he talking about? Who does Magnus Bane think I am?” you started, already asking all the questions that they should have seen coming but no one bothered to answer them.
They weren’t even sure they were going to need you when they asked you to tag along, and just because you had helped them out a little back there didn’t mean the Shadowhunters owed you anything.
You were still just some mundane.
The only reason you were still here was because of Clary, that and they needed you once Alec realized that they were going to have to meet up with Magnus in the first place.
Someone had to get him to agree to help.
“Don’t worry about it. All that matters is that he agreed to help us” Jace shrugged, ignoring you, which by this point was par for the course.
You were so tired of everyone acting like you weren’t here. .
“Come on. I did you a favor back there, can’t you at least tell me what I did?” you sighed, turning your attention to Izzy and Clary instead, because you already knew the males in your party couldn’t care less about what you’d done.
To them, you might as well not be here and you had come to terms with that. You just wanted to know who he thought you were, that was it.
In the grand scheme of things, it wasn’t even that big of a deal.
“The last partner Magnus had, she looked a lot like you” she allowed, recalling the photograph she’d seen, which might as well have been you a couple hundred years earlier.
You couldn’t believe it.
All this time, you were masquerading as someone else, someone that you didn’t even know existed, and everyone else knew all along.
It was ridiculous.
Though, before you could inform the surrounding Shadowhunters of just how ridiculous, Jace chimed in just enough to let you know that, even still, it wasn’t really your place to ask questions or have opinions.
“We were hoping to catch him off guard, we needed the upperhand” Jace shrugged, truly not seeing how wrong this whole thing was. Not only did they use you without bothering to tell you what was going on, but they exploited him too.
It wasn’t right.
“You should have told me!” you scoffed, thinking that at the very least someone would have had the decency to fill you in on the plan but it would appear that no one thought about that before now.
Jace didn’t even look all that interested in having this conversation at all.
“I would have helped even if you told me beforehand, you know? It would have just been nice to know what I was walking into” you continued, well aware that you were basically talking to yourself but not caring enough to stop.
You couldn’t be both the mundane they didn’t even care enough to address by name and a member of the team that they used when they needed help.
You could be one or the other, but not both, and certainly not at once.
“Well, now you know. Congratulations! Can we get going now?” Alec called, several paces ahead of all of you by now, and not stopping even still. He didn’t care at all about whatever little moral dilemma you were having.
He was much more interested in getting back to the institute before another assassin got the better of one of you.
“Thanks Alec, I appreciate that” you countered, not bothering to cover up the sarcasm flowing from your lips. If he could talk to you like that, there was no reason you couldn’t give it right back.
The truth was that it didn’t matter what they said or how much they pretended this wasn’t a big deal. What had happened back there with Magnus was a big deal, at least, it was a big deal for you.
After all, you just found out that you looked like some dead chick that was hooking up with one of the most powerful warlock’s of all time.
How was that not supposed to be a big deal?

Guidelines For Requests
Please read:
If you sent a request before I put this out, don’t worry your request will be written- unless I’ve stated otherwise, usually I’ll reply to anons with “I cannot do this request because x” or if you’ve requested off Anon I’ll privately reply and tell you how you can word your request to fit my (untold) guidelines.
A. I have the right to not write requests.
I do not need to state why.
I do not tolerate hate or messages of “are you ever gonna write my request” I have over 15k followers; I have a lot of requests.
Do NOT send me a request that you’ve already sent to 5 other blogs.
I do NOT take birthday requests, you can ask for a request as a birthday celebration but I don’t write requests themed around birthdays
B. I do not accept requests that are just “X-character fluff” or “Y character smut” these will be deleted
I need a prompt to go along with it; it can be a sentence or an AU. “Bucky Barnes fluff with “here take my jacket” or “Tattooist AU!Steve Rogers smut”. It gives me more to work with, requests are for YOU.
I do not go into detail on how reader looks. I make them raceless, no characteristics/ that being said/ I do take requests for different ethnicities (I am Caucasian), trans!reader also. I do not mind characteristics- but usually most of my fics are for everyone
If you want reader to be Ace/ Nonbinary/ Trans please state in request- I’ve written ace!Reader before
If you’d like plus size!reader then simply state that in request, or, chubby!Bucky then also do so (chubby!Bucky is the only one I’m comfortable with right now, but I do love chubby!Thor too)
C. I have few triggers now, so you can request, pretty much, anything and I’ll be fine with it
Dub con/non con, bdsm & smut kinks (daddy kink, choking & whatever you’re into- if it’s something I’m unfamiliar with or uncomfortable with, I’ll inform you)✅
Suicide, self-harm & mental illnesses ✅
Eating Disorders ✅
Warning: Please, realise that when I write any mental illnesses they won’t be fluffy fics. I will not glamorise. I’m in recovery from Bulimia, so it’s a topic I’m passionate about. I see wayyyy too many fics where they heroise Characters for helping the reader, fluff-up mental disorders. That’s not how I roll, baby. If you expect me to fluff self-harm you’ve gotta another thing coming. You’ve been warned.
Incest ❌
Underaged reader/character smut❌
Threesomes: I’m just not comfortable with my capability to write a smut like that❌
D: Characters I will/ will not write for
Any MCU characters: Includes Anyone in Infinity War & Endgame, plus Loki & Spider-Man friends- Mj, Ned & May✅
Supernatural: All characters from every season✅
Riverdale: All characters ✅
Stranger Things: Every season✅
Shadowhunters- Alec will only be written with Male Readers✅
Actors: Sebastian Stan, Chris Evans, Tom Holland & Anthony Mackie✅
You must always state if Reader is Male/Female/Gender Neutral. If you do not put Readers gender preferences in your request it will be GN, or up for my interpretation.
Walking Dead: whilst I write for the fandom, I do not accept requests ❌
Of course, with any free media, it takes some time to work through. The wait is... whenever I feel inspired or motivated by something. I tend to delete really old requests. But I’m trying my hardest to work through all of them.
As it gets closer to seasonal holidays; Any Holiday, whatever you celebrate. Please, send requests for it. I love writing requests that focuses around a holiday, it feels more personal and since these are requests, I do like making them personal- since I do not go into detail how reader looks.

Magnus X Platonic reader —- Mentions of Malec
“For the record, this will be incredibly boring,” Magnus warned me as we walked up the steps to the institute.
“Duly noted,” I say but my eyes are too busy wandering the place to care. It's just some old cathedral. That doesn’t mean Magnus turned down his outfit. If anything it’s turned up to annoy the shadowhunters. A shiny blue shirt with only a few buttons done up, white ripped jeans, and covered in jewels isn’t really a business look. Unless your Magnus.
Since I’ve been living in my original outfit, PE kit, and one of Magnus shirts for the past few days I don’t look as put together like him. Just some black leggings and a white shirt that one of Magnus’s ‘friends’ had left. Luckily it’s not stained and my size. “Well if your taking notes remind me to get your clothes. Not that I don’t appreciate a…simplistic look, but I know you can look even more…fabulous?” he tried.
I shook my head “I look a mess. Don’t lie.”
“You said it not me,” Magnus said before stopping, “Just wait. They come to us,” I nodded and double checked the bag Magnus gave me “Don’t talk unless you need to, stick by my side, and don’t touch anything with runes on it.”
“Cool,” I said. The bag he gave me was black, not helping my ‘simplistic’ look, and had a notebook, pen, and a bottle of water in it. Well and glitter. “Can’t you use magic to take notes,”
“Probably,” he shrugged.
Before he could reply some people dressed in all black walked out of the cathedral. “Who is this?” They asked.
“Hello to you too,” Magnus rolled his eyes. They glared in response, “This is my assistant,”
“No one said you could bring an assistant,” The woman crossed her arms, her eyes scanning over me.
“No one said I couldn’t,” he countered. “And I do believe you asked for my help since you were incapable of doing it yourself,”
“I wouldn’t say incapable,” she scoffed. I really get a bad feeling off her.
Magnus smiled “Well in that case my services aren’t needed,” He turned to walk away.
“I suppose we need your help,” she forced out. “We will let this assistant business slide for once. Follow me,”
The lady led us in the cathedral. I hid my shock as we discovered the cathedral wasn’t run down but in fact filled with tech and antiques. I mouth damn to Magnus who just winked at me.
Honestly, I have no clue what's being said. I’m not even going to try to make sense of it. Luckily schools the same so I still know how to take notes.
I flick to the next page of the notebook to start writing about some demon thing I can’t even spell when I hear an annoyed sigh “Does she really need to take all this down?” An older man asked, cutting Magnus off mid-sentence.
Magnus glared “My assistant is just doing her job. Like I and everyone else in this room is trying to do.”
The shadowhunter scoffed “Well I believe you're very familiar with the demon so why doesn’t she go get coffee while we talk about him, ”Magnus' eyes flickered to me, we shared a nervous look, “What type of assistant can’t make coffee?”
Magnus turned to the man, Alric I think, “It’s the fact you are telling my assistant what to do. If you wanted coffee all you had to do is ask. Would you mind?” Magnus turned to me.
“I don’t know where the kitchen is,” I whispered.
“Up the corridor to the left, 5th door on the right,” I jump when Maryse speaks. “And get me one too,”
Damn runes. I curse in my head. “Anyone else?” I ask without thinking. I’m used to be kicked around anyway. Whenever I got their coffee wrong before they’d spill it down my legs. I need to see if Magnus magic could heal it one day.
Turns out the notebook was more useful to write down the coffee orders. Magnus gives me a supportI’ve to look before I leave the room.
When I walk into the kitchen I freeze. Theirs already 4 teens in there. “(Y/N)?” Alec says, snapping me from my fear.
“Uh yeah,” I mutter, not knowing what to do.
“Is Magnus here?” I nod weakly. “Okay. What are you doing here?”
“I’ve to get coffee,” I don’t like new people, especially when it’s 4 strangers with the capability to kill me or lock me in the silent city. Whatever that is.
He nods and moves, revealing the coffee maker. I walk over and look around for everything. Alec opens a cupboard revealing the mugs. “Thanks,” I mutter.
I can feel everyone's eyes on me as I grab the mugs. “Who are you?” One of the girls asks. I glance at her to see it’s the one that looks like Alec. His sister I assume.
“Magnus assistant,” I try to cut the conversation short.
The girl shrugs and the rest of them return to there conversation. “Do I know you?” I freeze yet again.
I turn to see it was the other girl, a short ginger wearing an oddly colorful top, who spoke. I shrugged in response.
As I loaded the cups onto a tray I could feel her gaze on me “Hey, you went to my school! You’re that kid who always sat alone…” she trailed off when she realized.
“Yeah well. Yeah,” I don’t know how to respond! “Nice to see you I guess,” I pick up the tray and go to leave. Alec opened the door for me and I nodded as a thank you.
“Wait, if you went to her school, that means you’re a mundane?” The blonde said.
All 4 looked at me, I looked at them, “Um not exactly…gotta go,” I rushed out the kitchen.
I rushed back into the room and the shadowhunters looked at me for a second before ignoring my presence again. Handing out the coffee’s, I returned to my notes, visibly shaken. Only Magnus seemed to notice.
The meeting dragged but eventually we were free to go. Magnus said he’d do something or make some potion. I dunno since I was zoning out and thinking about school again. God, I hope I never have to go back.
Magnus let us stop at a café to grab lunch. “Order anything you like,” he told me as he notices my eyes scan the prices first.
Still, I chose the cheapest thing on the menu. Magnus looked discouraged but said nothing. As we ate he asked “Did something happen at the institute? I’m surprised you didn’t spill coffee on anyone.”
I shrugged and looked down, “Nah. Just bumped into some rude shadow hunter,”
“They're not the kindest breed,” he hummed, “Hot but mean,” he shook his head and took another drink of his, for once, non-alcoholic drink, “So when are we going to see your foster family?”
Swallowing my drink hard, I glared at the table “Family is a strong word. And I’d hoped never,”
“What about your clothes? School stuff? Stuff stuff? Surely there something you want back?”
I sighed and began playing with my food. “Dunno,” I shrugged. “I’m normally packed pretty light. Plus I’d be surprised if they didn’t chuck it already,”
“We’re going,” My head snapped up in protest, “No ifs and or buts. You’re going to get your stuff and I’m going to check out my competition. I’m sure I’m a much better non-family roommate,”
“Magnus, you’re the closest thing to family I’ve had since my parents,” I confessed.
He frowned slightly, “Darling you’ve known me maybe a week,”
I shrugged “Didn’t say I was a happy story did I,”
Unfortunately, unlike everyone else in my life, he kept to his word. I couldn’t even bring myself to knock on the door. Magnus sighed and did it himself. He was some sort of magic to cloak him from mundanes apparently. Honestly, I don’t know anymore.
The door opened and the plain look on my foster mother's face was replaced with disgust, “You’re back,”
“I just want my stuff,” I mumbled, looking at the ground.
“Look at me when you speak,” she snapped. I snapped back into her mold, shoulders back, straight posture, no personality or emotion to be seen, “Better but still awful. You have 5 minutes then I’m calling the police. And don’t even think about touching anything,” She stormed away.
I let out a breath of relief before taking a step into the house. It wasn’t an unhappy looking house with a creepy atmosphere and children's bones. The most disturbing part was it looked like a normal suburban house.
Magnus followed behind me as I darted up the left side of the stairs, sticking to their instructions. When I got to the top hall I grabbed the stool and reached up to open the attic. Magnus looked confused as he saw me bring the ladders down.
“I thought that was your room?” he pointed to the white painted door with a cheap amusement park photo with me and my foster parents on it. All 3 of us had smiles on our faces.
Not turning to look at him, I said “So does my social worker,” before beginning my climb into my room. If you can call it that.
Boxes filled the attic. They were filled with all your usual stuff, old photo albums, junk you forgot about, their biological kid's stuff. My small corner with a mattress and old chest of drawers fell into the junk you forgot category.
Magnus scrunched his nose up when he saw my corner/bedroom. “It’s not much,” I said “But it’s a step above Harry’s cupboard,” I tried to joke.
“Is it?”
I sighed but got to work. The chest of drawers was an old piece of furniture they let me use. Inside was my other 2 pairs of jeans, 4 tops, underwear for a week, and a few other things. Magnus summoned a plastic bag for my stuff. The clothes took a bag up.
The next bag was a little more personal. A couple books, a small nail polish set I got when I first moved in, a cd I got as an apology from my last family after they kicked me out, a few old notebooks/diaries/sketchbooks I had acquired.
The last bag was barely half full as I put my spare trainers and an old teddy I’d managed to hang onto in it. I held the old bear in my hand. The once light pink bear was now a dull grey, it’s button eyes had been reattached a few times, and there was a bit of muck on it. “I know it looks like junk,” I told Magnus “But Misty’s been with me since, that night,”
He nodded as I put her in the bag. “Is that everything?”
“Mostly,” I shrug “Everything else was in my school bag. There is one thing though,” I said. Quickly I moved the bags off the mattress and lifted it up. I fished around under the bed till my hand clasped around a small, cold, metal object.
I pulled it out and went to stuff it in my pocket to hide it, “What is that?” Magnus asked.
“Something more personal than Misty,” he nodded, not pressing any further, “We should go. We've almost been here 5 minutes,”
“You really are terrified of them,” he whispered.
I didn’t look at him but nodded as I grabbed the bags and rushed to the ladders. As I began the descent down the ladders I noticed the ground get closer till “Ow!” I whined as I hit the floor with a thud.
“Did you think I was kidding when I said 5 minutes?” She crouched in front of me.
“No ma’am,” I rushed to my feet. She slapped me “No ma’am,” I spoke up. “Sorry, ma’am.”
“You realize how lucky you are?” She yelled “You ungrateful brat! People like you wish-“
“That’s enough,” Magnus jumped down from the attic with the elegance that only a cat could have “Do you realize how lucky you are that I don’t bitch slap you into next week?”
“Excuse you! Who are you?”
“Her social worker,” He smirked. I cocked an eyebrow but held back a laugh as her face drained of color. Kinda like how she drains my soul, “Exactly. How do you think the police will feel?”
“I’m sure we can come to some sort of arrangement?” she purred, leaning onto Magnus.
He looked beyond disgusted, “I think I just vomited in my mouth,”
She recoiled “You're not exactly a ten either! With your chink eyes and gay face!”
Magnus recoiled, eyes filled with fury. Without thinking about it I lunged at her. We began wrestling on the ground, Magnus moving to block the stairs so we didn’t, you know, die. Eventually, I managed to get on top of her, pinning her down.
Her makeup was smudged, she was panting, a bruise was already forming on her forehead and nose, and she just looked pathetic. “Wait till the police get here,” she panted.
I couldn’t help but let out a half-hearted laugh “Wow. What is it you always said to me? Oh yeah, the door hit you, didn’t it?” I got off of her but she only scrambled away from me, “Fuck you Debbie,” Was all I said before grabbing my bags and walking down the stairs. She just looked at me but said nothing.
Magnus and I left the house silently and began walking down the street “I’m so sorry for her behavior,” I told him.
“It’s not your fault,” He shook his head, “I’m used to it by now. I was alI’ve when it was a lot worse,”
“That doesn’t mean it’s okay,” His head hung low, “And it is my fault. It’s my fault I didn’t hit her harder,”
He laughed a little “I just wish I could get revenge without breaking any accords,”
I froze at his words, “Can I borrow your phone?”
“Wha-“
“Give!” I told him. He fished it out his pockets and I handed him my bags. I punched in 911 and told them “103, crescent drive, Belhaven, Brooklyn. The cupboard under the stairs in a green bag labeled 2013, under the photo album. You might wanna get their quick. Her husbands got a temper and an unlicensed gun and I’m pretty sure she’s trying to flee that house soon,”
Before the dispatcher spoke I hung up, handing Magnus back the phone. “What in the hell did you do? What in the hell did they do?” he asked as I started walking again.
I looked at him “They exploited the foster system, they're not exactly stand up people. Besides, how do you think two low paying corporate people pay bills. It’s not fake snow in the bags,”
Magnus, somewhat understandable concerned, demanded I tell him everything. That night I did. He didn’t even have time to start his work for the shadowhunters. Instead, he listened as I told him about all 9 different foster families and 3 different homes id been in.
I told him about my main abusers and skimmed over the normal ones. He found out everything and said he did have a potion to heal my scars.
He also asked about the thing under the bed. I took it out of my back pocket with a sigh “It’s a locket.” I turned it over in my hand, looking at the swirls imprinted on the golden heart locket, “When my parents died I was immediately put in the system. I only was allowed to pack one bag. Misty, a few pairs of clothes, a couple other toys that got stolen. This had been on my parent's dresser. They said I couldn’t take anything that wasn’t mine but I grabbed it when they weren’t looking.” I held it up by its chain and let it drop into my hand “It’s all I have left of them. Unless you count Misty.”
Instead of hiding it or shoving it in a pocket like I normally do I handed it to Magnus. He looked at me, asking permission to open it and inspect it further. I nodded.
He easily opened the locket and looked at the tiny photos. A small black and white photo of my mum and dad on one side, on the other, was some family photo with people I didn’t recognize. A lock of black hair was in the locket as well.
Magnus face contorted. He closed the locket and flipped it over, looking at the design. “What did you say your last name was?”
“(Y/L/N),” I said, brows scrunched together “Why?”
He shook his head “Then why does your families locket have an L on it?” He opened the locket again and summoned an object with magic. “An enchanted monocle,” he told me as he held the glass to his eye. “Well looks like we don’t need those potions anymore,” he looked up at me and said “You’re a lightwood,”

“You? Cooking? Nice Joke.”
Pairing - Matthew Daddario x Reader.
Warnings - Light smut.
Words - 1018.
Gif not mine.
“Why did you have to become best friends with Dom?” Matthew sighed happily as this was the third time today only that Y/N has scared him by popping out of nowhere on the Shadowhunters set.
“Would you prefer me to go home? And be all alone?” Y/N replied, giving Matthew her famous puppy face that made him want to just hug her pain away.
“No, I brought you here to keep you occupied while I work, I just didn’t know your occupation would be scaring me,” he pouted.
“Aw, baby, I’m sorry,” she wrapped her arms around his torso.
“Just, quit it, okay? At least for today?” he pleaded, wrapping his arms around her back.
“Anything for you,” she looked up and saw Matt smile brightly as his body shook lightly after she tickled him a bit when she let go.
Shooting went by pretty fast and before you know it, Matthew & Y/N were on their way back to their flat.
“Dinner plans, yay or nay?” Y/N asked.
“Uhm depends.”
“On?”
“If you’re cooking or not,” Matthew smirked.
“Fuck you, I’m an excellent cook,” Y/N scoffed.
“Right, that’s why you burned toast. Twice. Today.”
“Shut up,” she replied and Matt laughed.
“Anyway, dinner? Are you in?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m in. What are the plans?”
“Oh, I was hoping you’d have something.”
“Are you serious?”
“Nah, don’t worry, I got something planned,” Y/N winked.
“Okay, I’m scared. Please don’t burn down our apartment,” Matthew said and looked at her worryingly.
“I won’t, I promise,” she smiled sweetly.
“Okay, you can come in now,” she pulled Matthew toward the kitchen carefully and removed his blindfold.
“Wow,” Matt was astonished. In front of him stood their dark wooden table covered by a blood red table cloth. On it there were two lit, long white candles stood in medium sized silver candlesticks. Between stood a small basket with matching red cloth placed neatly inside it. On the cloth, there were different types of bread. Near each end of the table, there was a plate with a medium-well steak on it. Next to it, a small portion of salad and some fried potatoes.
“Y-You did this?” Matthew asked, still in awe.
“Yeah,” Y/N smiled and looked down as blood rushed to her cheeks.
“What for?”
“You,” she looked up to find him staring at her, stunned by her beauty.
“Me? Why?”
“Because I felt bad for scaring you today, and besides, I wanted to something special for my Matty,” she hugged him.
“I, I don’t know what to say, except that I love you,”
“I love you too,” Y/N pecked his lips.
“Now let’s eat!” she dragged him to the table.
“Fuck me, that was great. Did you cook it all by yourself?” Matthew asked, rubbing his belly after he finished eating.
“I wish, but after burning toast two times and promising you I won’t burn the apartment, I asked for help.”
“But, when? I was here the entire time.”
“So innocent, so adorable,” Y/N exhaled happily.
“Are you gonna answer me?”
“While you were on the phone with Alexandra, Kat came over and helped me with everything. She also explained to me how to cook for next times, and she was so sweet about my dumb questions.”
“Two things. One, are you saying there’s gonna be a next time to this? Cause this is some good shit. Two, what dumb questions?”
“Well, firstly, there are going to be plenty more of these occasions because seeing you in total awe was fucking adorable. Secondly, I actually asked her if the way I cut a cucumber was correct. It was not.”
“God, you’re so bad,” Matt’s body shook with laughter.
“NOT ANYMORE, BABY! I LEARNED!!” Y/N exclaimed proudly.
“You’re so passionate about cooking now. Why? It never bothered you when you couldn’t cook,” Matt asked.
“Well, for starters, you cook. And I love watching you cook, I do, but I kinda want in on the fun and pleasure of cooking. Plus we could be those annoying ass couples who have kitchen fights! It sounds fun, to be honest, throwing flour at you is an opportunity I can’t miss,” Y/N answered truthfully.
“So you wanted to know how to cook, for me?” Y/N didn’t reply but simply nodded.
“What the fuck, that’s so cute. I love you,” Matthew stood up and walked over to where Y/N was sitting, lifted her up bridal style and her arms wrapped around his neck instinctively. He then kissed her, kisses full of passion and love.
“Where are we going?” Y/N breathed between kisses.
“To the bedroom, so I can show you how much I love you and how much I appreciate you,” Matt replied, his pupils dilated with small hazel rings around. Eyes filled with need and lust, but also love and intimacy.
“You don’t have to do that.”
“I know that I don’t have to, I want to,” he laid Y/N on the bed carefully before climbing on top of her, hands roaming up and down her sides. Her hands tangled in his soft raven hair. His lips were on her neck, open mouthed, sloppy kisses on her neck. He sucked and nipped, leaving marks all over to prove her his. And his only. Soft moans escaped her lips until his lips trailed back to her own. He licked her bottom lip, seeking, no, needing, entrance which she happily granted. Tounges battled for dominance until Matt’s won, leaving it to explore every depth Y/N’s mouth held.
They continued their battle until the small hours of the night. All there is left to do is to feel sorry for their neighbours, for Matthew and Y/N had, call it whatever you want, sex, passionate love making, or what not. They had their fun, but now it was time to move on with their lives; Matthew went on set the next morning as usual. Y/N stayed home, or so he thought. It wasn’t until lunch break when Y/N jumped out of his dressing room’s closet and scared the living shit out of him, that he knew she was there.

Stolen Innocence (2nd half) *Part 3*
Jace Wayland X Reader
Word Count: 2060
Requested: @queen-twerks-a-lot
Request: I do request that you continue with the series once the episode airs 😊
<< Part 2 (2nd Half)
Took in a deep breath sitting up and looking around, you couldn’t see Jace or Clary anywhere and “(Y/N) I’ve been looking for you.” You looked up and found Camille with what looked like a group of other vampires. “I imagine you would be.” You sighed. “You’ll be coming with me sweetheart.” she smiled gesturing for you to follow her. “Nope.” You answered. “I have more pressing matters to attend to.” You pushed passed her causing some of the vampire to hiss. Someone grabbed your arm and you immediately turned stabbing whoever it was and watching them turn to dust. “Don’t stay out too long now will you Camille, the sun will be up soon.” You walked across the shoreline, there was a Stele on the ground, it wasn’t yours, you hadn’t had one for a while, Clary had told you that she’d left hers at the institute, so it had to be Jace’s considering the fact that it didn’t seem to be worn by the water. You picked it up and played with it, you used your warlock tracking to find him and started on your way to where he was.
“Hello?” Izzy asked. “Izzy, it's me,” Jace said. “Jace. Are you okay?” Izzy asked. “I'm a little soggy, but I'll live,” Jace answered. “(Y/N)? Clary? Are they there?” “Clary’s here but (Y/N) isn’t here.” “Jace, it's me,” Clary said taking the phone from Izzy. “We need to get you to Alec.” “What do you mean? Why?” Jace asked. “He tried tracking you with his parabatai rune, but now, it's like he's stuck in some kind of nightmare and can't wake up. He was looking for you, so you're the only one who can help him.” Clary explained. “Okay. I'll get there.” Jace informed her. “But you can't. The Clave still wants you dead.” Clary reminded him. “Yeah, well, who doesn't? They can get in line.” Jace argued. “Meet us at Magnus'. We'll figure out how to get Alec there.” Clary ordered. “Okay. I'll get there as soon as I can. And see if you can find (Y/N)” Jace said before hanging up the phone.
You walked towards the shore that you tracked him to, there were police and part of the shore was cordoned off as well as a large crowd of Mundanes hanging around to see what was going on. You pushed through the crowd to see the girl from the boat on the floor dead. “Damn!” You cursed running your hands through your hair. “Hey, are you okay?” Someone asked looking down at you having noticed the blood on your clothes and face plus your wet hair. “I’m fine.” You answered pushing your way out of the crowd. Jace wasn’t here, not anymore. You used the Stele to track him again trying to get to the next place quicker than this one.
You got to the bar too late the glass at the front was broken and that was your first clue, you walked in to find a number of aggravated werewolves. “Where’s the Shadowhunter?” You asked. “He’s our kill.” One of the men growled. “Excuse me?” You asked. “He killed-” You cut him off by lifting him by his neck. “I suggest that you tell me where he is or I swear to god there will be no way to save you.” You threatened and he just smiled. “You think you scare me?” he asked. “No, I know that I don’t but I should.” You answered squeezing his neck. “(Y/N)!” Luke called. “Hmm.” You hummed not taking your eyes off the man that you had lifted into the air. “I need you to put him down.” Luke pleaded and you looked at him in the eyes. “They said they’re going to kill him so I’m going to kill them first.” You informed him and he sighed. “I’m not going to let them kill him unless we prove that he kill that werewolf,” Luke assured you. “Well, he didn’t.” You informed them through gritted teeth. “How do you know that!?” A new voice asked. “She was alive when we jumped off the boat,” You answered. “So you left her there?” The guy you were holding up asked. “Yeah.” You answered. In seconds Luke was between the two of you holding back the guy as he shifted the wolf growled and you smirked down at it before looking at Luke. “He loses the growl or he loses his life.” “Taito please, we have to do this properly.” Luke warned, “of we’ll start a war and more will die the same way the Gretel did.” Taito looked over at you as your wrist twitched your Seraph Blade still sheath for the moment. “Looks like he made his choice, tell Gretel I said I’m sorry.” You lifted your blade. “(Y/N)!” Luke warned grabbing your wrist, dizziness washed over you and Luke move his hands to support you. “Are you okay?” “I’m fine.” You answered pulling back. “Where’s Jace?” “Some Mundanes found him after he had a fight here they called an ambulance, he’s in the hospital,” Luke answered. “Finally, some answers.” You pushed passed him and out the door.
You managed to sneak into the hospital and into the emergency ward before Luke got there with the girl from the bar. You walked into his room and sighed, he had some cuts and bruises but he seemed like he’d be okay. You walked over placing your hand on his cheek tears welling up in your eyes as his eyes fluttered open. “(Y/N)?” he asked lifting his hand placing it over yours. “Hey.” You smiled. “We have to get to Alec!” He said quickly trying to get up you helped him. “Why? What happened?” You asked. “He was trying to track me and something went wrong,” Jace explained. “Okay, let’s go.” You turned hearing Luke outside, you let Jace leave first before going out yourself you purposely catching their attention. “Where is he?” Luke asked and you shrugged he rolled his eyes “Look around he can’t have gone far.” You watched the girl walk around the corner before gesturing for Jace to go. You both began walking when a nurse called out to him. “Damn Mundanes.” You grumbled eyes set on the werewolf behind her, as the nurse lecture Jace the girl from the bar slowly shifted you looked for the best way out of the situation, you grabbed Jace’s wrist and run, you both went up the fire escape, Jace tried to kick open the door but it didn’t work instead Jace got pulled through the door and you had to jump over the banister so that the wolf didn’t crash into you. “Oh, this is a bad idea.” You mumbled as you let go of the bannister and grabbed onto the one that was a few stories down, someone grabbed your wrist pulling you up. Luke pulled you behind him as the wolf hurtled down the stairs. You rolled your shoulders and groaned in pain as you tried to move (Y/D/S) shoulder.
“Still no improvement?” Victor asked walking into the room that Alec was lying in with Izzy sitting next to him. “Happy now?” Izzy asked. “Not at all. Alec's one of our best. It'd be a shame to lose him.” Victor admitted. “We're not gonna lose him,” Izzy assured standing to face him. “So confident. Almost too confident.” Victor said walking over and running his Stele over Alec’s wrist and he changed from Alec to Raj. “Well, that's unfortunate.” “When are you gonna realise that Jace is on our side?” Izzy asked “Our side doesn't murder werewolves. Oh. So he didn't mention that little transgression.” Victor mocked. “I'm sure there's an explanation,” Izzy argued. “Not according to Lucian Graymark's pack. I was hoping to protect Jace by bringing him here, but clearly, you've made other plans. So now it looks like the pack will get their pound of flesh after all.” Victor teased. “How far is Luke's pack from closing in on Jace?” Izzy asked. “Why should I tell you anything?” Victor asked. “Because I know where Jace is. He's at Magnus' loft in Brooklyn.” Izzy answered. “Well then, the wolves are close. Getting to him before they do could prove difficult.” Victor answered. “Not if you give me access to a Portal. I'll save Jace and I'll save Alec.” Izzy informed him. “All right. But afterwards, you turn Jace and (Y/N) over to me. Do we have a deal?” he asked. Izzy nodded.
You had long since left Luke you shoulder was still killing you, your healing gene wasn’t working your body was too tired, you’d heard the Maia the wolf from the bar was closing in on Jace fast, you were hurt but in your wolf form, you were making good time. You rounded the corner and saw the black wolf stopping Jace from running, you growled and that drew his attention to you. He stood to challenge you, you waited and he jumped at you and you easily knocked him away. You were slightly bigger than other wolves but the biggest difference was your eyes while normals wolves have brown and in some cases, blue eyes but you just like your human form had bright purple eyes. You stalked forward coming to stand in front of chase shielding him from the remaining wolves although they had all noticed you limp. “Gretel was our pack member. And she was my friend. You need to pay for what you did to her.” Maia said from her place between the two opposing wolves. “I didn't kill her.” Jace informed them “Valentine used me, just like he's using you right now. Us fighting with each other is only giving him what he wants.” “Really?” She asked as the wolves snarled. “Give me one good reason why I should believe you.” “Because I know what it's like to lose someone you love. My brother is counting on me. Just,” Jace sighed before continuing “You can kill me Just please let me get to him first.” “Well, I wish I could, but, uh It's them you'll have to convince,” Maia smirked as the wolves began to walk forward and you sized both of them up to see where the weaknesses were. “Stop!” Clary yelled you didn’t stand down, though. “Stand down!” Luke ordered. “Keep out of this, Luke,” Maia warned. “Jace didn't kill Gretel. It was Valentine. I'm telling you the truth. I swear!” Clary yelled but the wolves continued to growl, suddenly the wolves jumped forward while you pinned down one of them and Izzy appeared out of nowhere taking care of the other one. “Stay.” Izzy mocked “Good doggy. By the order of the Clave, Jace Wayland is coming with me!” “Maia. I said stand down.” Luke ordered his eyes glowing all of the wolves baring you bowed their heads in submission. “Thanks, Izzy. I owe you one.” Jace said and you changed back to your human form. “Don't thank me yet,” Izzy said. “Why?” You asked a Luke helped you to make a sling out of the jacket that you were wearing. “Are you okay?” Izzy asked. “Yeah, stupid mistakes lead to amazing stories, what’s the problem?” You asked again. “I have to hand you both over to the Clave once we save Alec,” Izzy answered. “Okay.” You nodded “let’s go save Alec.”
You weren’t in the room when Jace saved Alec, you were out on the balcony you hated the fact that there was very little that you can do to help them, so you chose not to be there, but you picked up his voice when he spoke. “Jace Wayland! You are hereby sentenced to the City of Bones to await trial for the charge of high treason and aiding Valentine in the war against the Clave.” Victor announced. “Where is she?” “She is here.” You mumbled walking in your Serif Blade balanced on your good shoulder. One of the other Shadowhunter walked towards you “Touch me and I’ll cut your hands off.” She looked over at Victor who nodded and she gestured for you to follow Jace. “Wait, what What the hell is going on?” Alec asked. “It's all right, Alec. All that matters is you're back.” Jace answered and you winked. “Later guys.” You waved.

Feelings
Jace Herondale x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 2213 words
Warnings: none
Summary: The reader is a vampire who owns the hardtail bar, who has quite the past with Jace Herondale which they never really addressed to begin with
—————————————————————————————————
Owning a downworlder bar was hardly the cakewalk it made itself out to be.
In all the years that you had owned Hardtail, you had come in contact with all sorts of colorful characters. From vampires and werewolves to demons and demon hunters, there was no telling who was going to walk through that door.
Though, no one was quite as interesting to deal with as Jace Herondale was.
He was an arrogant ass, of course, only doing things when he wanted to do them, and why. Not to mention that he was utterly ridiculous most of the time, something that made him almost impossible to deal with.
...and you would know that better than anyone, seeing as you’d done just that for quite some time.
Going out with him hadn’t been your finest moment, you could admit that.
All in all, you and Jace had nothing in common, and all you ever did was argue but no matter what you did, you always found yourself coming back to him. Without fail, you sought him out and just couldn’t cut the tie you felt to him.
It was impossible.
He just kept coming back, and it wasn’t as if you had it in you to turn him away at the door.
Though, today was the first time he’d ever come in here with someone else in tow, not to mention a woman. She was pretty with fiery red hair and no doubt a personality to match, if you knew him well.
That must have been what had taken him so long.
Normally Jace would stop by every few weeks, just to make sure that none of the downworlders were starting trouble for you, but he hadn’t been here in months now. Clearly, it wasn’t all that big of a deal what happened here, unless of course he needed your help with someone.
Then you were good enough to visit.
“What can I get for you?” you asked, quite similarly to how you would greet any other customer, your eyes staying on the girl at his side rather than looking Jace in the eye.
Whatever it was he needed, you were sure that he’d get to it before you had to do too much more of this, or so you hoped.
You had other customers after all, and most of them didn’t take too kindly to being ignored.
“I’m actually not here to drink. I’m here for you” he grinned, resting as casually as he could against the bar, as if he had any right to do that. Though, it wasn’t as if you were going to throw him out just for that.
At the very least, you knew that you had to hear him out.
“You mean, you are” you clarified, gesturing to the redhead at his side, who you still had no idea about. You had never seen her before, in all your escapades with shadowhunters, and it wasn’t exactly like they were a vast breed.
Whoever she was, it was news to you.
“Right, Y/N this is Clary” he shrugged, plopping down on the barstool across from where you were standing, filling up a glass of bourbon. You had no idea what was going on, or why you cared, but you smiled anyway.
Whatever this girl, Clary, was doing here, you were sure it had nothing to do with whatever it was you and Jace had been doing for the last few years.
She nodded in acknowledgment of you before turning her attention back to Jace, who hadn’t explained anything about this place to her before they showed up.
“What are we doing here?” she muttered, her words little more than a whisper in his direction which you caught easily due to your superhuman hearing. Usually, nothing of value happened here but usually, Jace wasn’t here.
Not like he was today.
“If anyone knows where those vamps are keeping Simon, it’s Y/N. Nothing happens in the downworld without her hearing about it” he shrugged, helping himself to the glass you’d poured, shooting a wink in your direction as he did so.
It was true.
This was a pretty popular hangout spot for all the vampires in the downworld, and as they drank, the more their conquests bubbled to the surface. It was hardly your fault if you paid attention.
“You're more than welcome to ask around, I haven’t heard that name in here before” you shrugged, filling your own glass from another tap, specifically for the vampires like you that frequented this place.
Alcohol didn’t do nearly as much for you as some good O negative did.
Clary nodded, heading off in the direction of where you’d gestured, clearly more determined to find her friend than Jace was. He didn’t seem to care all that much about anything at all.
...but at least that hadn’t changed.
“I had no idea you were seeing someone new” you hummed, not bothering to meet his eyes as you focused all your attention on the stout in front of you. Now that the two of you were alone, it was different.
There was nothing else for you to focus on, and at this point, anything would have been better than dealing with this.
After all, you had no right to be jealous.
You and Jace hadn’t been an item in a few years, and whatever he wanted to do, that was his business. You weren’t going to get involved, just like you should have done from the start.
It would be easier that way.
You didn’t want to deal with this any more than he did, but even with how awkward this was, Jace looked like he was having a great time. This was fun for him, because of course it was.
Everything was fun for Jace, because he always thought he was one step ahead of everyone else.
“I’m not necessarily seeing someone else” he shrugged, taking a long, heavy sip of the glass you’d put in front of him before moving on to anything else behind the bar that would be easier to deal with than him, your jaw tight.
You were avoiding him.
...And frankly, he couldn’t blame you.
The two of you’d had a long, sorted history, and this was hardly the first time you’d seen something like this from him. Really, he was surprised you even cared at all because of how commonplace it was.
It was just the kind of person he was.
Still, he hadn’t brought her here to hurt you. He needed your help, because if anyone knew what to do about their little vampire problem, it was you.
“Besides, this isn’t about her” he sighed, standing from the barstool he’d set himself down on when he arrived to try and get your attention. You were angry with him, and he couldn’t blame you for that, but he couldn’t avoid this.
It was important.
“I don’t think she knows that” you countered, pouring another shot for yourself which you downed casually before finally meeting his burning gaze. Whatever it was that he wanted, you both knew that you would help.
Because of the two of you, Jace was the selfish one. He did what he wanted without thinking about the consequences but you had never been like that.
Even now, he was sure that he could come here after months of not seeing you and ask a huge favor, and you wouldn’t hesitate to do as he asked. It was just the way you were and nothing was going to change that.
It was just who you were, and while he should have probably felt bad about knowing that and never trying to change it, there were too many other things he had to deal with.
Besides, if he was going to be a good boyfriend, he should have been that when you two were actually dating.
Worrying about it now wasn’t going to do either of you any good.
“Would you stop worrying about Clary for a second? We have things to do” he scoffed, snapping at you in a way that forced you to do as he said, if for nothing more than a second. You had no idea what was going on, but it was much more important than some new girl.
You just weren’t sure why yet.
“Simon’s at Hotel Dumort, I spoke to Raphael Santiago about him. Now would you get out of my bar” you sighed, desperately hoping that now that you’d given him what he wanted, he would go away.
Lying to them before hadn’t been your finest decision, but you couldn’t help it. You didn’t want to do this anymore, not with him.
The two of you had gone your separate ways for a reason, and you weren't really in the mood to rehash it all with him right now. It would be better for both of you if he just went away.
“I could, but I don’t really think you want that” Jace shrugged, that sly smirk on his face as he sat back down, still sure that this whole thing was just another game like you were so used to playing.
You didn’t get your feelings hurt.
That was what you always told him.
That you had lived too many lifetimes to ever get too attached to anything, or anyone. That you would be perfectly fine if he fell off the face of the earth one day and never came back. It would be so much easier that way, if you actually believed it.
You loved him.
Of course you did, but there was nothing you could do about it now. You and Jace had tried this whole thing and it didn’t work. You knew that if you gave it another shot, it would end just as badly as the first time.
It always went badly with the two of you.
“I really do, you shouldn't have come here” you allowed, taking his glass from the counter and setting it behind the bar before going for the backroom. You had no idea what was happening with you right now, or why you felt like this, but it didn’t really matter.
All you could think about in this second was getting away from him.
Not that Jace was going to let that happen.
Clearly, he had pushed you too far and this wasn’t the lighthearted tormenting you two usually got up to. You were upset, which was new for him because you were normally so hard to rattle.
He’d never gotten such a rise out of you before.
“Hey, hold on. Where are you going?” he asked, shooting Clary one last glance before following you.
The action caught the attention of several of the patrons he passed, but not one of them moved to interfere. After all your years of running this place, they knew well that you could handle yourself.
Even against a shadowhunter.
“Go help Clary find her friend, Jace. I’ll be here” you shrugged, bearing down on your teeth as you tried your best to shut down all the emotion bubbling up inside you. You didn’t want to feel it, didn’t want to care, and that wasn’t going to change.
Jace wasn’t yours anymore.
It was true.
You were always going to be here, and he knew that.
That was why it didn’t matter if months passed by before he came back or if he brought beautiful girls with him to meet you. No matter what he did, you were always going to be waiting for him and maybe that was the problem.
Maybe that was why you hadn’t worked in the first place. You were too available, too happy to help him when Jace was only concerned about himself.
“Will you?”
It was rich, especially coming from him. Acting as if you hadn't been there for him whenever he needed you even after you should have turned your back on him.
Of the two of you, he shouldn't have been the one worried about being alone.
“I get it. Vampires don’t have feelings right? We’re just monsters, and you kill monsters. I was an idiot to think that would ever change” you sighed, doing your best to ignore the anger bubbling up in your belly.
You just felt like such an idiot.
How could he have actually thought this whole thing was going to be a good idea? After all this time, it was almost as if he didn’t know you at all.
“I loved you, more than anything” he tried, not understanding how you’d managed to go from what you’d been like fifteen minutes ago to this. Fighting wasn’t new for the two of you, but this was.
Something about this was different.
This wasn’t fighting for the sake of it, knowing that you would find a way to make up when it was all over. It actually felt like you didn’t think he cared about you, which couldn't have been farther from the truth.
When you two were together, he’d never once doubted the way he felt for you. Though, you weren’t sure that you could be so convinced, because whether he believed it or not, you knew Jace better than he knew himself.
“I wish I could believe that”

Jace Wayland x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 2254 words
Warnings: Just some feisty fluff, for my Scorpio ass.
Summary: Jace starts a fight with his ex, when he finds out she went out on her own and got hurt. It clearly doesn't occur to him that he doesn't get to tell you what to do anymore
—————————————————————————————————
It wasn’t even that obvious.
The encounter you’d had with that demon had left you with little more than a light limp on your right side. The kind of thing that no one would even notice if you did a good enough job keeping it hidden.
It wasn’t a big deal.
…or, it wouldn’t have been, if Jace was capable of minding his own business.
Unfortunately for you, your ex had never really been one for keeping his thoughts to himself and this wasn’t about to be the exception to that rule.
Not a chance.
“What’s that?” he called, barely catching sight of you as you passed the training room.
For anyone else, it would have been a normal occurrence, and something they wouldn't bother to question but Jace wasn’t just anyone.
He knew something was up.
“What’s what?” you repeated, not even bothering to stop walking as you called out to him, hardly taking notice of the way he jogged up beside you, an easy task given your already inhibited state.
Hiding the limp wasn’t too hard as long as you focused on the way you walked, but if you went too fast, it would definitely be obvious.
“Did you hurt yourself?” Jace asked, choosing to ignore all pleasantries in favor of getting right to the point, not that you were surprised.
He’d never really been one for small talk.
At first, you didn’t say anything, mostly out of spite but partially out of shock.
When the two of you were a couple, you had to almost get yourself killed just to get his attention, but now, he was going to pick up on something like that out of nowhere?
Figures.
“No? Why?” you tried, eventually deciding that playing dumb was going to be your best option.
It was a lie, and not a very good one, but you didn’t care.
You had places to be and things to do that didn’t involve explaining yourself to him.
Even if you did hurt yourself somehow, he didn’t need to worry about it. You weren’t his problem anymore, and you certainly didn’t have to answer to the likes of Jace Wayland.
Honestly, the hope was that if you played it off well enough, he would just go back to beating on his mannequins and leave you alone. Though, you should have known better than to think it would work.
Jace would never let you off that easily, and before you could leave completely, he took hold of your wrist, just tight enough to keep you in place.
“It just looks like you’re favoring your right leg” he explained, eyeing you incredulously as if the truth would just unfold in front of him if he did it long enough.
Now, there was a time when you would have done anything to have him as focused on you as he was in this moment, but it had long passed.
It didn’t feel the same under these circumstances, and it never would again.
“Well I’m not. You must be slipping, Shadowhunter” you shrugged, going to move away from him again, trying to shake off the hold he had on you, but just when you thought you’d convinced him, Jace found a way to call your bluff again.
Before you even knew what was happening, he’d kicked your foot out from under you, just hard enough to test his theory.
…and sure enough, it did what he thought it would.
It knocked you on your ass.
“Slipping, huh?” Jace smirked, standing over you now, proud of himself for just how good he managed to be.
After all, who else would have been able to figure out something like that other than him?
“That doesn’t prove anything” you countered, choosing to ignore the hand he offered you which you quickly regretted. You knew that he was watching your every move now, to catch you in the act, and if you weren’t careful, he would.
Getting knocked on your ass didn’t hurt much more than your pride, but trying to get up on a busted up ankle was a different story entirely.
As soon as you tried to put weight on the strained limb, your body screamed out for you to stop but you knew better than to give into the feeling.
Not right now.
“You sure? I’ve never seen that move work on you before” Jace kept going, thinking back to all those times you two had spared in the past. You had never, ever, fallen for that in all the years he’d known you.
For him, that was as good as concrete proof.
You didn’t say anything at that, considering how much easier it would have been to concede to his irritating charade, but at this point, you weren’t even sure that would get him to stop.
Jace wasn’t just going to let you live this down.
Not in a million years.
“You want some help? Or, do you just like it on the floor?” he poked, taking your silence as his cue to keep at his teasing.
By this point, he already knew that he was right but he wasn’t going to do anything about it until you asked him to. It was the least you could do for trying to keep something like that from him.
…and for getting yourself hurt in the first place.
“I might just wait for someone else to come by, if that’s okay with you?” you spit back, still racking your brain for any solution to your current problem that didn’t involve admitting that Jace was right.
You’d honestly rather die here than do that, after everything you two had been through.
“Yeah, that sounds about right” the blonde decided, giving you one last once over before heading off down the hall, just far enough to give you the impression that he was actually going to leave you stranded.
Though, you both knew he wouldn’t.
You weren’t the only one of the two of you that bluffed when it came to protecting your wounded pride.
“Jace-”
As soon as you spoke, he stopped, glancing over his shoulder with that same devilish smirk on his face.
He knew you needed him, but even better than that, was that you knew you needed him too.
“You need something?” he called, taking in the absolutely hilarious sight in front of him as he turned around. You were essentially trapped on the floor, and the frustration as a result of that was practically radiating off of you.
It was priceless, and in all honesty, it was a little bit of payback for all the attitude you’d been throwing his way lately.
“Help” your words were almost inaudible as you tried to keep the rest of the Institute from knowing what was going on but it didn’t matter. Jace already knew exactly what you wanted.
Not that it mattered.
He didn’t move in the slightest, clearly waiting for the one thing you couldn't have done if you wanted to.
You weren’t going to say it, and frankly, even the male in front of you knew that he was pushing his luck.
Unfortunately for you, if he didn’t help you, there was no telling how long you’d be stuck here and that just wasn’t an option.
You didn’t have any other choice, or else you’d have sooner cut out your tongue.
“Please” you added, though the word couldn’t have been more stopped up behind your jaw, tight and irritated.
Again, he could hardly hear you, which was clearly by design, but the point was that you said it, not that he heard it.
You actually said it.
“I’d ask you to repeat it but I won’t because you’re hurt” he decided, finally closing the space between the two of you, just enough.
The truth was, whether you said it or not, there was no way he was going to just leave you, especially not knowing that you had actually hurt yourself somehow.
The two of you might have been acting kind of cold to one another recently but that didn’t mean he wanted you in pain.
Ever,.
“I’m not hurt” you tried, reaching out, clearly expecting Jace to offer you his hand just as he’d done before but he didn’t.
Instead, the male in question chose to kneel down in front of you, his hand searching for the source of your pain until he eventually found it, in the form of a knot on your right ankle.
It wasn’t awful, but it definitely didn’t feel like it felt good either.
“Did you try healing it?” he prompted, choosing to ignore the wince his action drew from your lips, accompanied by a low hiss as you tried your best to stifle whatever it was you were feeling.
It stung like a bitch, no matter how hard you tried to ignore it.
“It isn’t that bad” you kept going, fully buying into the idea that if you just walked it off, it would be fine. Which, before Jace this morning, had been working just fine.
You weren't going to waste a rune on something like this if you didn’t have to. The pain just added character, and reminded you of what it was you were fighting so hard for.
Though, you already knew Jace wouldn't accept that.
You two had always had differing ideas about how to deal with pain, meaning that he never wanted you to deal with it at all and you prefered to feel every ounce of it, to spur you on even more.
“Oh yeah? It looks great” he grumbled, adjusting your pant leg again before making up his mind for the final time.
He was going to have to take care of you, seeing as you insisted on getting hurt and not taking care of yourself.
It wasn’t really as if he had a choice.
Someone had to look after you, and it wasn’t as if there was a line of people willing to put up with your smart mouth and attitude outside the Institute.
“Come on” he suggested, moving until he could reach all the way around you, one hand on your lower back and the other coming to rest under your thighs, all at once.
Naturally, it wasn’t what you were expecting from him and you couldn’t help but sigh, looking at the blonde as if he’d suddenly sprouted a second head.
“What do you think you’re doing?” you asked, not at all trusting whatever it was he thought he was doing right now.
Even if it was innocent, you didn’t have complete confidence in his ability to lift you in your current state. You couldn't help him out at all with the way your ankle was acting up, if he needed you to.
None of it made any sense, until, of course, you took notice of the way he was looking at you.
Jace was doing this on purpose.
“Problem?” he hummed, not adjusting his hold at all as he stood, holding you to his frame as if you were some kind of damsel in distress.
Which you certainly weren’t.
“I’d rather break it” you muttered back, glaring at the male as he grinned at you, clearly finding this entire situation hilarious.
In his mind, this was your fault.
Jace had always told you that going out on your own was bound to go poorly, and in all honesty, you were just lucky you came back in one piece. This was kind of the payback you deserved for being so stubborn.
Maybe you’d finally listen to him now.
“You’ll do a lot more than break it if you aren’t careful next time” he countered, a newly serious tone in his voice as Jace actually thought about what could have gone wrong if you didn’t do as he said.
The two of you didn’t see eye to eye, ever, and sometimes you bickered but he had buried more than his fair share of loved ones in his life, and he didn’t intend to bury you too.
No matter how much you got on his last nerve.
“Is that why you’re being such an ass? I had to, I couldn’t just let it get away” you groaned, not surprised that this whole thing had turned into one big Jace lecture.
He always thought he was right, that his way was the only way, and there was no possible way you could also know what you were doing.
“You could have, and you should have” Jace countered, unwilling to waver on this, even as the two of you entered the epicenter of the Institute.
He was right, and you needed to know he was right.
Not that you were ever going to admit that to him while you were still breathing.
“Bite me” you groaned back, rolling your eyes as you considered his words. You were just as much a Shadowhunter as he was, even if he didn’t want to treat you like it.
Now, you would have thought that the two of you bickering in the middle of the meca that was the Institute should have surprised someone but it didn’t.
If anything, the sight of Jace carrying you around, both of you in a heated discussion about how hard headed and ridiculous the other was being, was kind of a ritual around here.
Injury aside, it was almost nice
At least this way, you two were actually talking to one another. If what you were currently doing could be considered talking, that was.

Somebody Else
Jace Wayland x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 1978 words
Warnings: none
Summary: Clary really hurts Jace after they kiss which leaves you to pick up the pieces, which doesn’t exactly go how you’d think
—————————————————————————————————
You knew that something was wrong as soon as you saw him in the hallway, stalking around in the dark.
Jace was always moody, but this was something different.
He looked hurt.
It wasn’t a look you were accustomed to seeing on his face, as he normally wore that stoic frown, but you weren’t blind. You could tell that something was definitely wrong, it had to be.
Knowing Jace, it could have been anything, from an argument with Alec to Isabella getting the best of him during training. You couldn't tell right off the bat but unfortunately, even if you asked, he may not ever tell you what happened.
In all the time that you had known him, Jace had always been secretive with his emotions. He didn’t want people to know that he had them, or that they could be exploited, but if you paid close enough attention, you could always tell.
If you were looking, you could read him like a book.
What he was going through might not have been the most obvious with no context clues but if you had to guess, it likely had something to do with Clary.
There was just something about her.
Since she arrived at the institute, Jace had been acting strangely, worrying about what could possibly happen to her and talking more about her than you’d ever heard him talk about anyone in his entire life.
It was obvious that he cared about her, and if something had happened between the two of them, that would more than explain the mood he was in. Even a look from her could make a clear impact on him.
Frankly, there was no telling how bad it could get.
The worst thing was that he probably was going to ignore whatever he was feeling, which would only make it worse. Jace hated to feel things, no matter how important they were, or how much more difficult it would make it if he buried them.
It just wasn’t who he was.
Still, you knew better than to just let him go on that way like nothing happened. You knew better than to leave him to his own devices, because that would be a disaster. If there was any chance you could make this easier on him, you would.
“What’s going on?” you asked, hoping that he would just tell you the truth, all while knowing that he wouldn’t. He’d been in pretty good spirits since Clary got to the institute but there was no proof of that now.
You hadn’t seen him this upset in a really long time.
“Nothing” came Jace’s grumble in reply. He hoped that you would be in bed by now, already fast asleep, but he would never be so lucky. Of course you were here, after everything else that had gone wrong today, now you wanted to talk.
You always wanted to talk.
Asking was a long shot to begin with, you knew that, but you just hoped he’d be honest with you. You were his best friend, and you loved him, so if something had happened, it seemed like something you should know about.
This was important to you, even if he didn’t want to talk about it.
“Tell that to your face” you sighed, eyeing him incredulously in the way you so often did. You had this way of dealing with him that no one else did, and right now, it wasn’t something he wanted.
All he wanted to do was go back to his room and sit in silence for a while, staring at the wall.
He didn’t want to talk about his feelings, or what had happened between him and Clary. He didn’t want to tell you about how stupid he’d been, thinking that he’d actually have a shot with her. Not only would it be a huge bruise to his ego but you would do that thing you did.
You would tell him that you were sorry, and that it was okay if he was upset. You always supported him, even when he was being an idiot, and right now, it was only going to add insult to injury.
Clary didn’t seem to care whether or not he was there at all.
If she had, that mundane wouldn’t have been in her bedroom to start with. He thought they had something special, but clearly, he was wrong.
No matter what he did, he was never going to measure up to him, and that was something he’d have to come to terms with.
The two of you walked in silence for a while, your plan to go bed long forgotten in exchange for whatever Jace needed. Right now, you didn’t want to leave him alone because no one wanted to be alone when they were upset.
Though, Jace would have surely had you believe that was false.
He wanted nothing more than to be by himself, but if he had to be with anyone right now, he was glad it was you. There was a reason you were so important to him, and a reason you’d been friends for so long.
You didn’t push too hard, but you also didn’t give in completely when he asked for space. It was a good balance, one he felt safe in.
Safe enough to let you in, just a little bit.
“He was in her room” he decided finally, not really explaining much about his situation. It was hardly an explanation at all but at least it was a start. You could build off of that, and it was more than you’d been expecting.
Normally, ‘nothing’ would be all Jace cared to give you when you asked about his feelings.
You had no idea who he was referring to, of course, not at first. However, going off of your Clary assumption, it only tracked that he must have been talking about Simon.
Simon was a mundane, and Clary’s childhood best friend who she seemed to value more than anyone else in the world.
It was no secret to you or the other Shadowhunters that Jace and Simon didn’t have much in common, and they weren’t exactly each other's biggest fans.
Seeing him there must have been difficult for Jace, especially considering how he felt for her.
You couldn’t help but briefly imagine what that must have been like for him, and what it would be like if you were in his shoes. If you had to see Jace and Clary in such a way, it would put you in quite the sour mood too.
You really couldn’t blame him for being so grumpy.
“And you know this because you were going to be...in her room?” you clarified, ignoring the tinge of jealousy in the pit of your stomach at the idea.
You thought that you had come to terms with his feelings for her, as you didn’t have much of a choice, but for some reason, that was much more hard to hear than you’d been expecting.
That reason, of course, being the fact that you were in love with him.
You had been in love with Jace for quite some time, as pathetic as that was, but it wasn’t until Clary showed up that you felt the need to be honest about that. You had kept it a secret for so long, content to bury your feelings as he did, but now that she was here, it was different.
It just wasn’t right.
Jace would do anything for her, and his love knew no bounds but Clary didn’t seem to even notice. Surely she must have noticed how important she was to him, though maybe the difference in his actions wasn’t as obvious to her.
They had just met recently, after all.
She didn’t have much to build off of, not like you did. She didn’t have years and years of getting to know him, and of falling for him in the strongest way. She didn’t see the way his eyes sparkled when he talked to or about her.
She didn’t have any idea just how much he’d fallen for her, but you did.
You could see it, even now as you walked beside him in the dark corridor, how much this new development was hurting him.
“I kissed her, and I thought there was something there but-” he started, only stopping when he realized just how much he’d said. This wasn’t his plan, of course, but he really cared about her.
It hurt to see Simon there, standing in her doorway, and the way she acted afterward did little to make him feel better.
She didn’t even bother to come after him.
It didn’t help that you were so easy to talk to, offering as much support and care as you possibly could without giving him advice he didn’t need, or forcing him to share more than he was comfortable with.
You were the perfect person to open up to, even when he didn’t want to.
“But it hurt to see someone you cared so much for with someone else?” you filled in, going out on a limb to try and get him to share just a little more. Any more insight into what he was going through would help you make it better, or so you hoped.
Really, you were going off of pure instinct right now.
You knew exactly what Jace was going through, not that you would ever admit that to him, because what he was going through was what you had gone through every day since she’d come to your home.
Watching the person you loved fall in love with someone else was worse than anything else you’d ever experienced. It wasn’t a demon to slay or a foe to be vanquished. It was real, and unavoidable, and painful.
There was nothing you could do to change it.
“Yeah, I guess it did” he allowed, thinking back to the way his heart had sank when Simon opened the door, and the way Clary backed away from him as if nothing had been going on the moment before the other male made himself known.
It sucked.
“Maybe it was a misunderstanding, maybe she didn’t know he was there” you tried, not able to bring yourself to make him feel any worse. Even if you didn’t necessarily believe that was the case, you weren’t about to tell him that.
Jace cared about her, a lot, and if she was going to make him happy, you wanted it to work out. It didn’t matter if it would make you unhappy, or if it would be hard for you, because as long as he was happy, that was all you cared about.
He deserved to be happy.
He deserved the world, if that's what he wanted.
“Maybe”
Jace didn’t sound fully convinced, of course, but you didn’t need him to be. All you had to do was get him not to give up on her, to not give up on anything, because then you would be worse off than you started.
He’d really started to open up as of late, and the difference in him was one anyone could see. You didn’t want him to start taking strides backwards because of what had happened tonight.
“Just go see her in the morning, and I’m sure everything will be fine” you smiled, doing a really convincing job of hiding just how much your heart was breaking at the idea of it. Somehow, you had ended up trying to convince the man you loved to be with someone else.
Somehow.
Still, as you considered the way you’d found him, moping around like the world was out to get him, and how he was now, nothing else mattered. If Jace was happy, you were happy, and it was as simple as that.
It had to be.

Angel Blood
Clary Fray x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 2113 words
Warnings: none
Summary: The reader has been protecting Clary all her life, and hiding a huge secret.
—————————————————————————————————
Clary was almost positive that she was out of her mind.
After everything she’d seen at the club tonight, she had to be going crazy.
Of course she was because there was no other explanation for what was going on. Everything that she had seen, everything that was going on, it wasn’t real.
There was no way any of this was real.
People didn’t just vanish out of thin air ever, and that thing in the club had tentacles in its face, not to mention the fact that she was ninety-nine percent sure that she had killed a guy. It was hardly what she’d expected from her eighteenth birthday when she woke up this morning.
Still, she knew what she saw.
There was no way to explain it, and she was sure that she was going insane, but at least she knew what she had seen.
If there was anything she had, it was that, and thankfully, it was more than enough for you to help her. When she told you what had happened, you believed her completely and totally, which did make her feel a little better.
Though, to be fair, you knew a lot more about this than she did.
This was in her blood.
Clary was a shadowhunter, she was born for this, and while it didn’t make sense now, you were sure that she would adjust. All she needed was time, and a little guidance, which you and the others would be able to give her.
Not that you wanted Jace to be involved at all.
After all, it was his idea to bring her back to the institute, which was a terrible idea from the start. Mundanes couldn’t be here, ever, and there wasn’t supposed to be any exceptions to that, even where Clary was concerned.
She couldn’t just be here.
You told Jace that as soon as he got back, holding her tight to his chest all full of demon venom, but were immediately ignored by the male. He had already made up his mind, and when he did that, there was nothing you could do to stop him.
Logic didn’t have a place in Jace’s mind.
In general, this wasn’t something that you tended to deal in because mundane business wasn’t for you to worry about but for some reason, he had this idea that he had to save her.
He wanted to keep her safe.
You understood that this mattered to him, for whatever reason, but this was a bit much.
Alec made the argument that bringing her here was dangerous for not only her but also everyone else in the building, and this was one of those rare instances where you found yourself inclined to agree with him.
Jace had gone too far and now, he’d managed to rope you all in with him.
It was insane.
You had been watching over her and Jocelyn all your life, but now, Jace had just swooped in to save the day. It was something that there was no going back from and you just had to hope that when Clary woke up, she’d be able to handle it.
“How could you be so reckless?” you huffed, protecting Clary was your job.
You had been her best friend forever and you were someone she was familiar with. If anyone was going to take care of her in Jocelyn’s absence, it should have been you.
It was literally all you were here for, but in typically Jace Wayland fashion, he had found a way to take that out from under you as well.
Now, you were going to have to get past him to do anything, like you always had to, as if the other shadowhunters needed another reason to doubt your abilities.
“I saved her life, shouldn’t you be thanking me?” he grinned, that telling smirk on his face that remained there indefinitely. Normally, you would have just shrugged him off but today you could have knocked off if you felt so inclined.
He could be so frustrating sometimes, so sure of himself that no one else mattered.
It was nearly enough to drive you out of your mind.
In all the years that you had known Clary, you had kept a close relationship with all of the shadowhunters as well. You were one of them, and though this life was a difficult one, hiding it from Clary and all, it was just what you had to do.
You had to protect her, more than anything else, and as difficult as it was, that was all that mattered at the end of the day.
Jocelyn loved you like a child of her own, she trusted you with her secrets and most importantly, she trusted you to protect Clary when she couldn’t. That was the whole reason you were here, the whole reason you had been by her side for so many years.
At this point, you loved her more than anyone and you certainly didn’t want her getting involved with Jace Wayland.
Not because you were jealous, of course, but because you wanted what was best for her.
That was all.
“I’ll thank you when I’m sure she’s safe” you countered, gingerly brushing a lock of her hair from her face, where it had fallen in the entire tussle. She was in a lot of pain, with the venom taking its toll on her, but her body was taking the healing rune well.
She was going to be fine.
However, until she was awake and calmed down, you weren’t going to be able to relax.
For whatever reason, this was the most stressful thing you’d ever gone through. You’d had years to go run through this in your mind, but now that it was happening, you were lost.
This wasn’t supposed to happen like this.
Jocelyn had been careful, crazy even, so that Clary wouldn’t find out about who and what she was before you were ready to deal with it, but now, you were on your own. She wasn’t here to help you figure this out.
For now, Jocelyn was gone and you just had to do your best to explain this whole thing to her.
“She’s going to be fine, she’s one of us. She’s strong” Jace shrugged, looking down at her from where he was at your side, still doing his best to figure out what it was about her that was so special.
Clearly, she had made an imprint on the both of you and he wasn’t even sure why yet. To be fair though, he didn’t know her like you did.
He never could.
“Yeah, that’s one thing we can agree on” you allowed, gingerly giving him a shrug. You weren’t sure what it was you were going to do when she woke up, or how blending your two worlds into one would work, but before you could worry about it, she shot up in bed.
The action was quick and startled you slightly but you didn’t pay that any mind. Instead, you sat down beside her and did the only thing you knew to do, the thing you were best at.
You tried to calm her down.
Even now, that was all you could think about.
“Good Morning sleepyhead” you tried, doing your best to stay calm, but it was a sad attempt at best. You were clearly shaken, startled over her abrupt awakening, but thankfully, Clary was still a little out of it.
To her, this whole thing must have felt like a dream, so she only smiled at you at first. What had happened today was the last thing on her mind as she looked at you, at least, for a few seconds.
However, as soon as she reached up and grazed the portal shard hanging around her neck, she panicked. The object brought back everything she’d gone through in the past few hours and the recollection she had was distressing to her.
No one in their right mind would handle it well, you knew that without a shadow of a doubt.
While you weren’t surprised by the world you’d grown up in, you weren’t under any illusions as to how jarring it must have been to her. Waking up in this place was more than enough to freak her out, and Jace certainly wasn’t helping either.
“What is going on? Where are we? Where is my mother?” she asked, immediately bringing all the current issues to the forefront.
They were swirling around in her head, looming over her, and not one of them made sense. It was too much and you definitely couldn’t blame her for being overwhelmed.
“We will explain everything Clary, trust me” you hummed, taking her hand in your own in one final attempt at comforting her. You had no idea how this would go, but if nothing else, at least she was at the institute now.
As difficult as Jace could be to deal with, you knew that she would be safe as long as he was looking out for her.
At the very least, you could give him that.
~
Jace wasn’t exactly thrilled when you asked her for a moment alone with Clary to explain but eventually, he decided that it would just be best to do as you asked. The two of you had an understanding, that it would be much better to just try to find common ground.
Besides, Jace wasn’t exactly the best one to tell her everything, not when there was so much technical history to bring her up to speed on.
She needed you.
“What is going on?” she repeated, not speaking again until you returned to her bedside, having stepped away for a moment to ask Jace for some privacy. She had no idea what was going on yet, and unfortunately, you weren’t sure your explanation would help.
There was just too much happening in your world to sum up in one conversation.
Still, you knew that you had to try.
“I’ll fill you in more as it comes up, but there are some things I need to tell you before then” you started, hoping that the more you filled her in, the easier this would get for her to digest, but that wasn’t going to happen.
Mundanes couldn’t handle the world outside that they were used to, and while Clary wasn’t necessarily mundane, she had been raised that way. Until you figured out what Jocelyn wanted for her, you had to just fly by the seat of your pants through this whole thing.
“We’re Shadowhunters, Clar” you hummed, giving her a soft smile as you often did while looking at her. Even now, as disoriented and lost as she was, she was the most beautiful girl you’d ever seen.
Hopefully as this whole thing came into the light, you would actually see the benefits of bringing her fully into your world.
At least she would understand you completely now.
“We have angel blood, and that makes it our responsibility to protect the human world from demons and other downworlders” you tried, finding it much more difficult to sum up everything that being a shadowhunter intold than you would have thought.
It was really complicated.
Still, Clary didn’t seem completely lost as you assumed she would. She was bewildered of course, but she was silent by the time you’d finished, startling you that much more. For whatever reason, it was more alarming than if she would have freaked out.
It just made you worry that much more that she was losing it.
“I know it’s a lot, but I’m going to be here the whole time to help you figure it out. You’re going to be okay”
The words came out forced but you really meant them. It wasn’t going to be easy, but you knew that no matter what came your way, the two of you would be able to deal with it.
You always had, and now that the rest of the shadowhunters were involved, it would be even easier.
You could do this.
“Please don’t leave, there’s no way I can manage all this without you” she hummed, after a few seconds of silence as she thought over what you were suggesting. She had lost way too much already and if she had to do this without you, she’d be completely lost.
She couldn’t do this without you.
“Clar, I’m not going anywhere” you promised, this time fully confident in the words leaving your lips. You loved Clary, and whether or not she knew it, there was nothing you wouldn’t do for her.
No matter what happened, nothing was going to happen to her.
