“Run!” Clary yelled. She seemed to come out of nowhere and you found yourself rather startled. You looked up from the spot on the pavement you’d been looking at curiously while you waited for her to meet you outside the coffee shop she’d texted you about.
The crack in the tile made the shape of a beagle puppy. You’d taken a picture to send to Simon just before Clary appeared.
When you looked up you saw her barreling down at you. She grabbed your arm as she darted past you, turning you so that you had to glance behind you to see what she was running from. Seeing two large men hurtling down the street you didn’t question her but followed as fast as you could. Despite your best attempts to escape, you were both quickly caught and bundled towards a car. You jumped and tried to rip yourself free from your captor, swinging your feet around and trying to kick at them. But nothing would get you loose. You glanced at Clary as you continued trying to get away. She was fighting just as hard as you were. They managed to wrangle the two of you to a car and shove you both in.
"Happy Valentine's, by the way." She gasped as she tried to kick the door they were shutting.
“If I’d known we were going to be kidnapped I would have worn my other trainers.” You grumbled and she laughed a little as the two of you stopped to figure out what to do next.

Hot Summer Days and Lakes | Clary Fairchild
Clary Fairchild Masterlist
Word Count: 897
Genre: Fluff | Slice of life
Pairing(s): Clary Fairchild x Partner!Reader
Summary: You and your girlfriend, Clary, decide to spend a hot day at the lake.
Warnings: sharp rocks, small hiding places?
—————————————
|PICTURES ARE NOT MINE|
It wasn’t hard to get Clary to spend the day at the lake. This particular lake was located near her dad's renovated house out of the city. It’s mid June and the weather has been scorching hot.
Since the both of you are adults, Clary’s parents (reluctantly) let the two of you have the house to yourselves. Much to the enjoyment of the two of you. You couldn’t remember a time where you got to spend such isolation with your girlfriend, without having to worry about interruptions or strangers or responsibilities. So far, the hours you have had were amazing.
You had spent breakfast outside, Clary with her bagel and coffee, and you with your own preferred breakfast. You didn’t have to worry about time, so you spent a good hour just talking. Taking bites with minutes in between. There was no need to rush.
The walk to the lake had been calm, filled with laughter. The two of you walking side by side, hand in hand. Clary had been telling about some anime she and Simon had recently started. She filled you in on her favorite characters and her predictions for how the story would progress. You listened and asked questions, loving the way her eyes shone, and the sound of her voice. Obviously she was taken by the subject, the words flowing out of her mouth smoothly with passion and emotion.
The two of you had also discussed your friends and your predictions as to what they were doing at that moment. Clary told you that Simon was supposed to be meeting with his ‘band’ that morning. Simon had wanted to come but then quickly realized that this was a romantic retreat and decided against pushing to come.
“I bought this comic with different Japanese fighting styles, I've been taking notes on some I think would be useful.” Clary stated, looking proud
“Is that so? You know, fiction fighting and real life fighting rarely mirror each other. As far as I know their fighting skill is over-exaggerated and sometimes just unnecessary.” You respond
Clary shook her head smiling, “Actually I talked to Alec about some of the techniques and he said they were legitimate.”
“Well, if Alec approved it, it must be accurate.” You said sarcastically
“Exactly.” Clary returned with a sarcastic smirk
When you got to the lake side, quickly you shedded your layers of clothes revealing the swimsuit underneath.
Clary did the same, looking a little flustered. She wore a simple pastel purple one piece, but in truth she looked breathtaking. Noticing your admiring stare, Clary flushed, a shy smile on your face.
You set the towels you had brought on some of the dryer, but not so dirty rocks.
“We should put on sunscreen before we get in.” Clary commented, pulling out a bottle of such product from the bag she had brought. The bag was decorated with some anime characters that you were unable to identify.
Once she was done she handed you the bottle, “Get my back?” She asked smirking
You wore a smirk of your own, grabbing the bottle from her hands and putting a dime size in your palm. You purposefully spent more time rubbing the protective cream on her back, enjoying the way she shivered. At your touch or the temperature of the cream, you weren’t sure. You ended it with a small kiss on the side of her neck. She flushed again.
“My turn.” She turned around and applied some to your back. You could tell she was trying to replicate your previous movements. Spending more time in an area that made you tense up or shiver involuntarily.
“You ready?” I ask, casting a glance toward the water.
Clary nods
Clary and I decided to just jump in. Better than stepping in, we both agreed.
The chill water immediately engulfed our bodies. A vast contrast to the humidity of the air. Clary shrieked and I laughed.
“It’s cold!” Clary shrieked
“That’s the point!” I laughed
Eventually we got into a game of trying to dodge each other. Basically just playing tag in the water with the just people. We were both surprised by the amount of hiding places the rocks held.
“I’ve been here a zillion times, how have I never noticed this!” Clary had said when she found a little opening in between the rocks
“This would’ve been a great place to avoid my mother trying to put sunscreen on me.” Clary mumbled looking genuinely a little disappointed.
“Well if you ever bring Simon here again, perhaps you could try and scare him.” You had commented
Clary brightened, “You are a genius!” She kissed your cheek
You spent hours there, in the water, now the chill being bearable, doing all different activities. At one point you attempted to pass a plastic volleyball but it popped on one of the sharper rocks a few minutes in.
The sun was setting, and you both agreed to pack up and head back. Clary picked up her phone and scoffed.
“What?” You ask, genuinely curious
“Simon is going to my favorite noodle place, without me!” She said
“How dare he.” You said dryly
“I know! When I get back he better be ready.” Clary muttered, resulting with a laugh from you
“We should do this again.” Clary said, smiling brightly
“We should.” You agree, taking her hand in yours.

Angel Blood
Clary Fray x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 2113 words
Warnings: none
Summary: The reader has been protecting Clary all her life, and hiding a huge secret.
—————————————————————————————————
Clary was almost positive that she was out of her mind.
After everything she’d seen at the club tonight, she had to be going crazy.
Of course she was because there was no other explanation for what was going on. Everything that she had seen, everything that was going on, it wasn’t real.
There was no way any of this was real.
People didn’t just vanish out of thin air ever, and that thing in the club had tentacles in its face, not to mention the fact that she was ninety-nine percent sure that she had killed a guy. It was hardly what she’d expected from her eighteenth birthday when she woke up this morning.
Still, she knew what she saw.
There was no way to explain it, and she was sure that she was going insane, but at least she knew what she had seen.
If there was anything she had, it was that, and thankfully, it was more than enough for you to help her. When she told you what had happened, you believed her completely and totally, which did make her feel a little better.
Though, to be fair, you knew a lot more about this than she did.
This was in her blood.
Clary was a shadowhunter, she was born for this, and while it didn’t make sense now, you were sure that she would adjust. All she needed was time, and a little guidance, which you and the others would be able to give her.
Not that you wanted Jace to be involved at all.
After all, it was his idea to bring her back to the institute, which was a terrible idea from the start. Mundanes couldn’t be here, ever, and there wasn’t supposed to be any exceptions to that, even where Clary was concerned.
She couldn’t just be here.
You told Jace that as soon as he got back, holding her tight to his chest all full of demon venom, but were immediately ignored by the male. He had already made up his mind, and when he did that, there was nothing you could do to stop him.
Logic didn’t have a place in Jace’s mind.
In general, this wasn’t something that you tended to deal in because mundane business wasn’t for you to worry about but for some reason, he had this idea that he had to save her.
He wanted to keep her safe.
You understood that this mattered to him, for whatever reason, but this was a bit much.
Alec made the argument that bringing her here was dangerous for not only her but also everyone else in the building, and this was one of those rare instances where you found yourself inclined to agree with him.
Jace had gone too far and now, he’d managed to rope you all in with him.
It was insane.
You had been watching over her and Jocelyn all your life, but now, Jace had just swooped in to save the day. It was something that there was no going back from and you just had to hope that when Clary woke up, she’d be able to handle it.
“How could you be so reckless?” you huffed, protecting Clary was your job.
You had been her best friend forever and you were someone she was familiar with. If anyone was going to take care of her in Jocelyn’s absence, it should have been you.
It was literally all you were here for, but in typically Jace Wayland fashion, he had found a way to take that out from under you as well.
Now, you were going to have to get past him to do anything, like you always had to, as if the other shadowhunters needed another reason to doubt your abilities.
“I saved her life, shouldn’t you be thanking me?” he grinned, that telling smirk on his face that remained there indefinitely. Normally, you would have just shrugged him off but today you could have knocked off if you felt so inclined.
He could be so frustrating sometimes, so sure of himself that no one else mattered.
It was nearly enough to drive you out of your mind.
In all the years that you had known Clary, you had kept a close relationship with all of the shadowhunters as well. You were one of them, and though this life was a difficult one, hiding it from Clary and all, it was just what you had to do.
You had to protect her, more than anything else, and as difficult as it was, that was all that mattered at the end of the day.
Jocelyn loved you like a child of her own, she trusted you with her secrets and most importantly, she trusted you to protect Clary when she couldn’t. That was the whole reason you were here, the whole reason you had been by her side for so many years.
At this point, you loved her more than anyone and you certainly didn’t want her getting involved with Jace Wayland.
Not because you were jealous, of course, but because you wanted what was best for her.
That was all.
“I’ll thank you when I’m sure she’s safe” you countered, gingerly brushing a lock of her hair from her face, where it had fallen in the entire tussle. She was in a lot of pain, with the venom taking its toll on her, but her body was taking the healing rune well.
She was going to be fine.
However, until she was awake and calmed down, you weren’t going to be able to relax.
For whatever reason, this was the most stressful thing you’d ever gone through. You’d had years to go run through this in your mind, but now that it was happening, you were lost.
This wasn’t supposed to happen like this.
Jocelyn had been careful, crazy even, so that Clary wouldn’t find out about who and what she was before you were ready to deal with it, but now, you were on your own. She wasn’t here to help you figure this out.
For now, Jocelyn was gone and you just had to do your best to explain this whole thing to her.
“She’s going to be fine, she’s one of us. She’s strong” Jace shrugged, looking down at her from where he was at your side, still doing his best to figure out what it was about her that was so special.
Clearly, she had made an imprint on the both of you and he wasn’t even sure why yet. To be fair though, he didn’t know her like you did.
He never could.
“Yeah, that’s one thing we can agree on” you allowed, gingerly giving him a shrug. You weren’t sure what it was you were going to do when she woke up, or how blending your two worlds into one would work, but before you could worry about it, she shot up in bed.
The action was quick and startled you slightly but you didn’t pay that any mind. Instead, you sat down beside her and did the only thing you knew to do, the thing you were best at.
You tried to calm her down.
Even now, that was all you could think about.
“Good Morning sleepyhead” you tried, doing your best to stay calm, but it was a sad attempt at best. You were clearly shaken, startled over her abrupt awakening, but thankfully, Clary was still a little out of it.
To her, this whole thing must have felt like a dream, so she only smiled at you at first. What had happened today was the last thing on her mind as she looked at you, at least, for a few seconds.
However, as soon as she reached up and grazed the portal shard hanging around her neck, she panicked. The object brought back everything she’d gone through in the past few hours and the recollection she had was distressing to her.
No one in their right mind would handle it well, you knew that without a shadow of a doubt.
While you weren’t surprised by the world you’d grown up in, you weren’t under any illusions as to how jarring it must have been to her. Waking up in this place was more than enough to freak her out, and Jace certainly wasn’t helping either.
“What is going on? Where are we? Where is my mother?” she asked, immediately bringing all the current issues to the forefront.
They were swirling around in her head, looming over her, and not one of them made sense. It was too much and you definitely couldn’t blame her for being overwhelmed.
“We will explain everything Clary, trust me” you hummed, taking her hand in your own in one final attempt at comforting her. You had no idea how this would go, but if nothing else, at least she was at the institute now.
As difficult as Jace could be to deal with, you knew that she would be safe as long as he was looking out for her.
At the very least, you could give him that.
~
Jace wasn’t exactly thrilled when you asked her for a moment alone with Clary to explain but eventually, he decided that it would just be best to do as you asked. The two of you had an understanding, that it would be much better to just try to find common ground.
Besides, Jace wasn’t exactly the best one to tell her everything, not when there was so much technical history to bring her up to speed on.
She needed you.
“What is going on?” she repeated, not speaking again until you returned to her bedside, having stepped away for a moment to ask Jace for some privacy. She had no idea what was going on yet, and unfortunately, you weren’t sure your explanation would help.
There was just too much happening in your world to sum up in one conversation.
Still, you knew that you had to try.
“I’ll fill you in more as it comes up, but there are some things I need to tell you before then” you started, hoping that the more you filled her in, the easier this would get for her to digest, but that wasn’t going to happen.
Mundanes couldn’t handle the world outside that they were used to, and while Clary wasn’t necessarily mundane, she had been raised that way. Until you figured out what Jocelyn wanted for her, you had to just fly by the seat of your pants through this whole thing.
“We’re Shadowhunters, Clar” you hummed, giving her a soft smile as you often did while looking at her. Even now, as disoriented and lost as she was, she was the most beautiful girl you’d ever seen.
Hopefully as this whole thing came into the light, you would actually see the benefits of bringing her fully into your world.
At least she would understand you completely now.
“We have angel blood, and that makes it our responsibility to protect the human world from demons and other downworlders” you tried, finding it much more difficult to sum up everything that being a shadowhunter intold than you would have thought.
It was really complicated.
Still, Clary didn’t seem completely lost as you assumed she would. She was bewildered of course, but she was silent by the time you’d finished, startling you that much more. For whatever reason, it was more alarming than if she would have freaked out.
It just made you worry that much more that she was losing it.
“I know it’s a lot, but I’m going to be here the whole time to help you figure it out. You’re going to be okay”
The words came out forced but you really meant them. It wasn’t going to be easy, but you knew that no matter what came your way, the two of you would be able to deal with it.
You always had, and now that the rest of the shadowhunters were involved, it would be even easier.
You could do this.
“Please don’t leave, there’s no way I can manage all this without you” she hummed, after a few seconds of silence as she thought over what you were suggesting. She had lost way too much already and if she had to do this without you, she’d be completely lost.
She couldn’t do this without you.
“Clar, I’m not going anywhere” you promised, this time fully confident in the words leaving your lips. You loved Clary, and whether or not she knew it, there was nothing you wouldn’t do for her.
No matter what happened, nothing was going to happen to her.

[x] REQUESTED BY @ab1nsur
"YOU risk not only your life, but for the sake of any Shadowhunter in any Institute around the world, in Idris frequently standing. Think about what you’re planning, y/n. Is this what you’re willing to do?”
Shaking your head, you folded your arms and glared at the closest people standing before you. Your family and your friends at your hearing. “Yes,” you turn back to whoever was speaking amongst the council. “As long as I can protect Clarissa Fairchild at all costs-”
“From what, exactly?”
“Her own brother,” you say. “Anyone in alliance with Jonathan Morgenstern, or even anyone she loves, but she’s very special to me. I’ll die before she does.”

Plan A
Pairing: Clary Fray x Reader (Sister)
Requested: Nope
Summary: Your sister tries and tell you that you’re both Shadowhunters but you don’t believe her.
GIF Not Mine
It was Clary’s eighteenth birthday today but being younger than her you had to go to school instead of hanging out with her and Simon. You wanted to skip school for the day but your mom was adamant that you attend. She told you “ You need to go and keep your grades up” which didn’t make sense as you were at the top of your class for everything but you didn’t want to argue with her, not on Clary’s birthday. Clary did promise that she would hang out with you at the weekend though. It did hurt a bit that she didn’t want to hang out with you on her birthday but her friends instead, she doesn’t even want you to come tonight to Simon’s performance. Instead you had to stay home.
Luckily for you because your mom was so distracted with Clary and the fact it was her eighteenth birthday she allowed you to stay at your friends house tonight and go to a party that someone in your grade was hosting, not that she knew about the party part.
-
You were so busy having fun at the party that you had no idea what happened that night with Clary. It was 9am and you went back to your apartment to grab a few things as last night your friends suggested a shopping trip. As you walked into the apartment it was silent. Normally you were met with the bustling of your mom making breakfast or the conversation between Clary and Simon about his new band name but today nothing. “Mom! Clary! I’m home.” You shouted as you walked into the kitchen. No one. “Hello! Is anyone home?” You shouted again checking each room. “Mom… Clary?” You got to the last room in the house and still nobody.
Confusion mixed with worry crossed your face. If they were out they would text you but when you checked your phone you had no new text messages except one from your friend. You tried calling Clary but it went to voicemail. You then tried calling your mom but you heard her ringtone back in the kitchen ‘she must have left it here by accident’ you thought, not thinking much of it. You grabbed what you came here for and left a note letting your mom know where you were going today and you also texted Clary relaying the same message.
-
Clary ran into the apartment looking for your mom, similar to the way you did it not that long ago but with more distress in her voice. “Mom!” She looked around the place frantically looking for any sign that she was here. “Mom!” She shouted again, this time in the kitchen when her eyes fell onto the note you left in the kitchen. “Oh, no… Y/N.” Clary breathed and got her phone out to see your messages, not noticing Dot was behind her.
-
After the demon attack at your apartment Clary was back at the institute. When she stirred from the sleep she was under, after the demon hurt her, Clary blinked a few times before realising what had happened. She leapt off of the bed and looked around the room, her eyes landing on Jace. “Where’s Y/N?” She asked.
“Who’s Y/N?” Jace asked, getting up off the chair he was on.
“My-my sister. She was at the apartment today. Where is she?” Clary was hysterical now, the thought of losing both her mom and sister on the same day just broke her.
“Clary, you were the only one there.”
“She left a note and she was in there… oh god. What if- what if they took her. She was out last night with her friends. She has no idea what is going on.” Clary was panicking now, shaking. Jace stood in front of her and rubbed her arms to try and calm her down.
“We’ll find her, I promise.” He promised wiping the tears that were falling down her face. They were interrupted by Clary’s phone buzzing. After the first buzz she immediately answered not taking in the caller ID.
“Y/N!” She said hopeful which soon changed when she realised it was Simon on the other end. “Oh, hey Simon. You haven’t seen or heard from Y/N, have you?” The conversation carried on about why Clary was in, what looked like to him, an abandoned church and how you weren’t answering your phone before it’s probably dead or turned off. Simon then said he was outside.
-
“Do you have anything of hers on you?” Jace interrupted Clary’s reunion with Simon.
“I think I have one of her scarfs in my van.” Simon answered. “She’s always leaving her things in there.” Him and Clary laughed at your habit.
“That’ll work. I should be able to track her with it.” Simon went to his van and got your scarf out for Jace to track you with it. Jace held your scarf and started tracking you with it. “Got her location. Lets go.” He informed them and climbed into Simons van telling him where to go.
When they found you Clary jumped out of the van before it stopped. She ran up to you and hugged you tightly. You relaxed under are embrace when you realised who it was. “Thank god you’re okay.” Clary said not letting you go.
“Of course I’m okay but I won’t be if you don’t let go, it’s kinda hard to breathe.”
“Right, sorry.” Clary apologised letting you go. “I was just worried about you. You weren’t picking up your phone.”
“It died when I was my friends place, sorry. What’s going on anyway? No one was home when I went round this morning.”
Clary gulped. She had no idea how to tell you that your mom is missing and has lied to you both for your whole life about being a Shadowhunter. She turned to Jace and asked. “What should I tell her?”
“Clary, who are you talking to?” You laughed anxiously.
“You can’t see him?”
You shook your head. “Clary there’s no one there.”
“Whatever your mom used on you both must still be in effect for Y/N.” Jace suggested, now deglamoured so you can see him. You looked at him with wide eyes, shocked and confused that he appeared out of no where. “We can discuss this in a bit but for now you need to come with me so you’re safe.” Jace said now turned to you and stepped forwards toward you but you took a step back.
“I’m not going anywhere with you.” You gestured to Jace. Turning to Clary you continued. “This is crazy. What the hell is going on.”
“I don’t know how to say this but I’m just going to try… mom lied to us for our whole life. She kept a whole other world from us. The downworld. We’re Shadowhunters Y/N. Just like Jace here.” Clary told you. After looking at your sister like she’s lost it for a few minutes you bursted out laughing earning puzzled looks from both Clary and Jace. You stopped laughing once you saw Clary’s expression hasn’t changed.
“Oh… your serious. Okay, well, that’s just- that’s just insane.”
“Hate to interrupt but we have to get going. We’ve been out here too long and soon they’ll find you both.” Jace interrupted.
“Look, blondie, I’m not going anywhere with you and neither is my sister. I don’t care what game you’re playing but I’m not getting involved.”
“Y/N, it’s the truth, okay. We’re Shadowhunters. There are demons, and vampires, and werewolves, and warlocks, and seelies. They’re all real.”
“Yeah, I’m going home now.” You huffed, frustrated at this craziness your sister is suggesting and started walking away.
“I think it’s time for plan B.” Clary whispered to Jace.
“I don’t know why we didn’t start with plan B in the first place. Could have saved a lot of time.” Jace replied getting ready for plan B.

Allison stopped reading and stared at Clary with her mouth falling open. “What did you just say?” She asked. Clary frowned and looked at Allison.
"Did you just say frost fairy? As in… A fae?" Allison said slowly. Clary frowned as if she didn’t understand what Allison was getting at. “You’re telling me that fairies are real?”
“Yes… (Y/N) is a fae… did you not know?” Clary was speaking in the same tone as Allison, both clearly confused by what was going on. Allison turned to you and looked you up and down as if she suddenly expected you to shrink and sprout wings to fit what she thought a fairy would look like.
“You’re a fae?” She asked. You rolled your eyes and nodded.
“Yes. I am.” You answered. She huffed and looked confused.
“Are you a frost fairy?” Was the following question. You had expected it but our answer still came out in a flat tone.
“No. I’m a different kind. But if we’re done getting excited about fae, I know which one probably covered your own in eight inches of snow.” You answered. Clary and Allison took a moment to take in what you said before getting the gear they would need and following you out to your car. You all bundled in and then took a moment to realise that the snow was now too deep to drive. Clary pointed out that it was too dangerous to portal so the three of you had no choice but to trek out into the snow.

———————————
|PICTURES ARE NOT MINE|
Clary cursed under her breath in frustration, “Where are these demons coming from?” She slashed angrily at the demon in front of her, cutting off its head and sending it back to its home.
Recently, your dear city of New York has been infested with more demons than usual. Meaning that you and the other shadowhunters were working overtime.
You came up behind Clary to slash at a Demon that was trying to bite her ankle. You turned guarding her back as she guarded yours while another demon came up in front of you. The battle was over quickly with a few cuts and bruises here and there but nothing the two of you couldn’t handle.
“Hopefully Magnus will be able to answer that question soon enough.” You mumble as you draw an iratze on Clary’s forearm. She huffed a strand of her red hair out of her face looking around at the status of the alleyway where the two of you had found a group of raveners. The black blood had been gone from the walls along with the bodies of the demons. Leaving the two of you sweaty and covered in the black blood.
The sky was black and few stars were out. You think you’d like the night a lot better if it wasn’t the only time demons came out.
“I’m sure Jace is having the time of his life.” Clary mumbled, snapping you out of your thoughts.
You smirked, “Yes, and Alec anxiety is off the racks with the amount of demons we’re hunting these days. I’d tell him to take a vacation if we didn’t need him here.”
“I think he’d be a little disappointed to miss all the excitement.” Clary said sarcastically
You nodded your head in agreement, “Shower, then breakfast?” You ask
Clary wrinkled her nose, “Simon and the bland are playing this morning.”
You shivered in mock disgust, “So breakfast, and a couple pairs of ears that need to be bleached.”
Clary nodded, “Pretty much.”
You grabbed her hand to begin your journey towards the institute.
------------------------
You’d be lying if you said you were looking forward to the next hour. Sat on a comfortable beige couch in Java Jones with your girlfriend as you wait for Simon and his friends to start playing.
“You sure we can’t bail?” You asked
Clary, freshly showered, and in day clothes, nodded, “I said I'd be here.”
Your mouth thinned
Clary had coffee in front of her as you waited for this ‘show’ to begin. Izzy was sitting at another table, waiting patiently for the band to make their way onto the stage. Maia sat at a different table. Her and Jordan called it quits about a month ago but stayed friends. So she was here with her now boyfriend, Bat, supporting their friends.
You clapped reluctantly when the band piled onto the stage. Jordan and Simon weren’t that bad. The rest of the band though..
“What do you think Magnus would say if he were here?” You asked
Clary shrugged then grinned, “As if Magnus would ever be caught in a place like this.”
You nodded your head in agreement.
“So what do you want to do after this, train some more?” You asked
Clary shrugged, “Let's enjoy this for right now.”
Your face was masked in mock horror, “Sure...enjoy.”
Clary laughed under her breath, giving you a swift kiss on the cheek. You smiled against your will. Perhaps this hour wouldn’t be so bad.

Clary was elusive. It was the first year she was missing out on her holiday activities with her mum. You knew she’d been missing it and tried your best to make up for it. Though you, Izzy, Jace and Simon tried your best. It wasn’t the same.
Now she was avoiding you all, not wanting to ruin the mood. Deciding you’d try one more thing you went to the kitchen. You started trying to learn how to make hot chocolate. You didn’t want to just make any hot chocolate. You had gathered fancy ingredients, learned how to make vanilla whipped cream by hand and managed to learn how to make a massive variety of different flavoured hot chocolates.
When you’d finished you found little cups, just enough for a taste of each one and dished them up. Then you made your way through the many corridors until you found Clary on her own.
“Hey! Can you help me?” You asked her. She closed her sketchbook and looked up at you.
“Maybe? What do you need help with?” She asked. You sat next to her and set the tray down on your lap.
“I need your help deciding which of these drinks is the best.” You mumbled and smiled at her. You hoped that she wouldn’t see through the idea. Normally Clary’s mum would make a fancy batch of hot chocolate and everyone would go over for a cup before she led the way through a winter art stall. But without her there to ask, you had no idea which flavour was the right one.
“Oh… well I can help with that.” She seemed to cheer up as she set her sketchbook and pens to one side. The two of you started trying the small cups and comparing them. She even started to make a list of which ones were good, which were bad and which should never be remade. Eventually, the two of you found a flavour you both liked and went to the kitchen to make a bigger batch that could be served out to everyone. By the end of it Clary was smiling and laughing in a way she hadn’t for months.

Clary yelled, kicking and screaming as she tried desperately to fight off her attackers. They tied her down to a chair and that was when she got her first really good look at them.
Some had horns, others had eyes like Magnus’. Warlocks of Downworlders of some kind Clary thought, though she wasn’t experienced enough to make a solid guess. She tried her best to loosen to ropes they used to tie her down with. She could hear Simon yelling and shouting from another room.
“What do you want!” Clary shouted.
“(Y/N) (Y/L/N).” One of her captors snapped. She stared at them. No idea what you could have possibly done to get involved with Downworlders.
“Excuse me?” She said in shock.
“We want the warlock, (Y/N) (Y/L/N). We want him now. He was supposed to be working for us but one of you Nephilim had to get involved. So tell him he helps us. Or next time we won't let you go.” The other captor said. Clary glared at them. They had to have been mistaken. But just as quickly as she and Simon had been snatched off the street they found themselves tossed out and abandoned. Clary hurried to see if Simon was ok and the two of them started to make their way to your house.
“They said that (Y/N) is a warlock. There’s no way he’s a warlock right? We’ve known them for years. We grew up with them.” Simon said as the two of them hurried along the street and turned down an alleyway that cut out several blocks.
“These days I don’t know which way is up. We’ll just have to find (Y/N) and talk to them. We need to warn them too. Whatever they wanted him to work on can’t have been good.” Clary insisted as she led the way to your apartment, four doors down from where Clary used to live and hurried to knock on the door.
*****************
It had been a while since Clary and Simon were attacked. Since then Magnus had found out the work you were supposed to be doing for the other warlocks. They had wanted you to kidnap humans for them. Smuggle them out of Shadowhunter-protected areas so they could do, who knows what, with them.
When Clary confronted you, you had admitted that you were avoiding doing the work for them. But she couldn’t get you to give her a clear answer that if they came and forced you, would you follow through or not?
When people started to go missing and you couldn’t prove that it wasn’t you Clary spent hours shouting at you. Telling you how you’d betrayed her and Simon, how they’d trusted you, grown up with you and now. All they knew about you was villainy beyond anything they could comprehend. When you told her you thought she was being over dramatic she had become too furious to speak and stormed out. You hadn’t seen her for weeks after that.
“Warlock!” A seething voice called out. Turning on your doorstep you found one of the older warlocks that you were supposed to be working with.
“What do you want?” You asked.
“For you to do your part.” They answered and glared at you. It was starting to get dark and you could see something out of the corner of your eye. A vampire, though without looking directly at them you couldn’t be sure who it was. There wasn’t a chance that you would look away from the warlock in front of you until he backed off.
“I told you. I’m not helping you kidnap mundanes. Find someone else.” You snapped. The older warlock shrugged and then smiled at you, revealing rows of sharp teeth.
“Fine.” His hand flew up before you could react and you felt yourself being blown backwards through a portal. Simon had been watching from the rooftop. He ducked down as the warlock passed down the road and waited until the coast was clear. He tried to search for you but was quickly certain that the portal had whisked you away rather than forced you back into your apartment’s front hallway as he’d hoped.
He hurried to get to the institute. Alarms blared as he hurried to find Clary. He heard Alec behind him telling people to let him through.
“They took (Y/N).” Simon said. He found Clary in a side room with Jace, Magnus and Izzy.
“What?” Clary said.
“He was refusing to help them kidnap Mundanes. This warlock with loads of teeth. He pushed him through a portal.” Simon explained. Clary’s eyes started to tear up. She’d doubted you and felt immediately guilty.
“Well. We should go and look for him.” Clary said when her voice was strong enough.
“I wouldn’t advise that. If you’re describing who I think you are. Then you don’t want to be on that warlock's radar. We should do this rather carefully. It won’t end well for us if we rush into it.” Magnus advised. Clary nodded and wiped the tears from her eyes as Jace stepped closer.
“So where do we start?” He asked.
“Pandemonium. There’s a little lowlife of a warlock that knows him. We start with him and work our way up until we find (Y/N).” Magnus said firmly. As he spoke Alec entered the room and once Izzy caught him up he agreed. He left to get permission to gather Shadowhunters to help bring in the warlock who had taken you. Simon went to ask the vampires for help and Clary went with Jace and Izzy to ask Luke for help or to at least put out the word that a warlock was snatching people off the street and he wasn’t above taking out downworlders to do it.

“Can we go over this again?” Simon asked as the Shadowhunters circled around you.
“A warlock that I pissed off put a curse on Allison and now she’s hunting me down and is planning on killing me. Well not planning on it but she will because of the curse.” You explained to him.
“But It’ll all work out because Magnus is tracking down the other warlock as we speak. We just need to make it until he gets back.” Clary explained. You could hear Simon clear his throat and feel him step closer.
“No. I got that bit. I was wondering why we’re out in the open in the middle of the night instead of at some sort of Shadowhunter safe house.” Simon asked.
“Because (Y/N) thought it would be a great idea if he walked off and tried to stop Allison himself.” Alec grumbled.
“In my defence. At the time we didn’t know about the curse.” You said quickly. Alice stepped backwards and the group moved with him. Everyone froze as they stared overt at the way Alec was pointing his bow. Clary had stepped closer to you. He was standing, almost shielding you from view as Alison emerged from the darkness.
“Allison. This isn't you! You have to fight the spell!” Clarry called out. Allison continued along her high perch.
“You’re not going to kill me.” You shouted and Allison’s eyes snapped to you. She couldn’t get a clear shot of you between Alec and Clary being in the way. “This is a spell. You're stronger than that.”
“That isn’t going to work, the spell is strong.” Clary warned you.
“Then what are we supposed to do?” You asked.
“We… try and catch her and get her back to the institute. Maybe we can keep her contained until Magnus fixes the spell.” Alec said quickly.
“I’m sorry. My plan to get her out in the open so we can run away is crazy. But Alec wants to lead her to a building full of Nephilim. We’re all cool with that?” You pointed out. As you did Alec moved and an arrow shot through the air. Izzy’s whip snapped at it and you ducked. “Ok. Ok, we go with his plan.” You relented as another arrow whipped through the air and nearly hit you. With Clary’s arm around you the group fled with Allison following close behind. “Your warlock better be able to wake her up!”

“Before you say anything just remember we’re best friends.” You said as Clary held her Stelle out and stared at you. She didn’t move or lower the Stelle so you scooted a little closer. “Would you like my help?”
“I’m not sure that you’re you.” She answered shakily.
“I’m more myself than anyone else could be. Well. Magnus has been known to do a good impression if he has enough of that home brewed alcohol the werewolves make.” You muttered.
She gave you a funny look but let you help her out of the container she was strapped in. You led her towards the sound of bickering Nephilim and let her go when they raised their weapons.
“I’m not here to cause any trouble.” You said quickly.
“Sure.” Alec said as if he didn’t believe you.
“No. (Y/N) is a friend of mine. We’ve known each other for years.” Clary said quickly. Izzy had hurried to take Clary’s weight while Jace inspected her leg and drew a rune on it that made her wince.
“You know them?” Izzy asked her. She nodded.
“They’re a friend of the family.” Clary insisted. They shared looks as if they didn’t believe her but let her usher you along with them. “Do you know where Simon is?” She asked. You frowned and shook your head.
“I only followed you because I wanted to say hello and before I could catch up someone snatched you away. You’d been gone for so long I assumed they’d taken you. I didn’t realise you were with this lot. I’d have been less worried.” You explained. She smiled at that and gave you a grateful look.
“Well if you hadn’t I wouldn’t have made it.” She admitted. Reluctantly the Nephilim backed off and let you walk with Clary as they headed back home.
“Clary never mentioned them before. Izzy?” Jace said as he glared at you.
“Never mentioned them to me.” Izzy confirmed. Jace crossed his arms, watching closely as you threw an arm over Clary’s shoulder and gestured out at the city.
“Why do we care?” Alec grumbled.
“Because we know what they get up to and Clary doesn’t. Simon ended up a vampire. Imagine if Clary knew what they were!” Jace complained. Alec rolled his eyes and leaned on his bow as they stopped. Clary paused outside the institute and hugged you goodbye. You vanished from where you stood with a quick wave, and a flipped hand gesture at Jace.
“Seems like Clary is aware of their powers, Jace. Maybe you just don’t like someone else being Clary’s supernatural crutch.” Alec smiled when Jace opened his mouth to complain and looked at Izzy for help. She shrugged.
“If it’s fine with Clary it’s fine with me as long as no one gets hurt.” She said quickly and chuckled when Jace grumbled as he headed inside.

December Event
When you tipped the drawers out of your dresser and rummaged through the pile of clothes you became certain that it was missing. You sighed and checked again. It really was missing. Pacing that house you made rounds to all the places you thought that it would be. Then you made the rounds again. You looked in all of the places that you’d already looked and confirmed it again.
“Clary?” You said as you phoned her.
“Morning. What’s up?” She asked. You could hear the sound of her sheets rustling and you realised that you must have woken her up.
"Where's my sweater?" You asked as you sat on your pile of clothes, searching again just to be sure.
“Oh… I borrowed it.” She admitted.
“My favorite Christmas sweater?” You asked. She sighed and you could hear her getting up.
“I’ll be over in a minute.” You muttered and hung up. You frowned at your phone before shrugging and deciding to put all your clothes back in the drawer. When you’d finished you heard a knock at the door. Hurrying to answer it you found Clary.
“Here.” She said cheerfully as you let her in and she handed you a gift wrapped in silver star paper with a silver tulle ribbon. She took a seat in your living room as you joined her and unwrapped the gift. Your eyes went wide when you saw it.
It was your favourite jumper, light blue and white, however now the small snowflake pattern that adorned the jumper moved as if it was snowing. You grinned as you set it down and hugged her.
“I had Magnus jaz it up. I know you’re going to the Christmas jumper contest.” She said with a smile.
“It’s so awesome!” You said as you put it on and went to look in the mirror.

December Event
Clary smiled as she saw you in the crowd. You waved eagerly for her as she weaved her way through the bustling Mundanes. When you’d called to invite her she hadn’t been sure that she’d be able to make it. But when she texted you that morning to say she could come you’d quickly arranged to meet her there.
"Meet me under the mistletoe." She’d texted. You smiled as she reached you.
“Hey! Are you excited?” You asked and she nodded. As she looked around you added. “Simon wasn’t sure he’d be able to handle such a big crowd.” You explained.
“Makes sense. Maybe when it’s cleared out a bit he’ll be able to come out and see the lights.” Clary muttered. She smiled, hands stuffed in her pics as she shivered a little. “Are you excited for the lights to turn on? It’s been so long since we watched one.” Clary said cheerfully.
“Very. After everything we’ve been going through it seems like such a normal thing to do. I… wasn’t sure you’d be able to come.” You admitted.
“Me neither. There’s this demon going around and… you know what, let's not talk about that. Let’s talk about that giant nutcracker by the light switch. That thing is so ugly.” Clary muttered. You looked away from Clary and over the heads of the people in the crowd. You could just make out a large nutcracker set out as a decoration under the giant tree.
“The other one doesn’t look that bad. You know what I swear the ungly one is moving and growing fangs.” You said as you squinted. You turned to look for Clary but she was gone.
"Meet me under the mistletoe later tonight." You heard from nearby but you couldn’t see her anymore. You watched as no one else seemed to notice the nutcracker change into something else and then it vanished from your view. You rang Simon as you waited and told him where to meet you and Clary later on. With nothing else to do you watched the lights and looked over all the different stalls. When it started to get late you went to the place you and Clary would get your seasonal snack, a lost tradition due to the vampires and Shadowhunters. When you went back to the mistletoe you smiled. Standing together and waiting for you as if no time had passed since the last time you’d attended the light switch on, you saw Simon and Clary.

Halloween Event
You’d been sitting at the table with Clary and Allison for hours. They’d arranged to meet in the morning but it was well past lunch time now. You could smell the food from the library cafe down the other end of the building. It was making your stomach rumble.
“Are we done?” You complained. Clary tutted while Allison remained focused on her research.
“We still haven’t figured out what is wrong with you. We can’t just give up.” Clary said quickly. She glanced at Allison for some support but she was frowning at her laptop.
“You’re seeing what exactly?” Allison asked, clearly not hearing anything either of you had been saying.
“I see dead people.“ You said nonchalantly. With a groan you lent your head on your arms and sighed.
“What kind of dead people?” She asked and you looked up at her, frowning.
“You know… the dead kind? What other kind of dead people are there?” You asked, now fully invested and watching her as she shrugged.
“Zombies, ghosts, other spirits… banshees apparently.” She answered.
“Well we can all see Lydia so.. Not banshees… we can all see Lydia right?” You muttered. Allison shot you a look and Clary leant forwards, flicking through the book she’d been reading.
“So it’s some kind of spirit… maybe you’re clairvoyant?” Clary suggested. You crinkle your nose and shake your head.
“We tried that, but it didn't work.” You answered. She frowned and shrugged.
“Well I have no idea and I have to wait for people to get back from Idris before I can get any help… Allison?” She said with a reluctant sigh.
“I have a few more things I can look into but… maybe Cora was right about you staying in for Halloween. She and Derek seemed pretty concerned and we do have spirits popping up all over.” Allison suggested as she snapped her laptop shut. You agreed and they finally decided to take a break and get something to eat and drink.
