when i was in high school i reread the entirety of the mortal instruments and all the other related books that were out at the time, while i did this i was obsessed with this very disjointed jazz playlist i made and would listen to on repeat. today my horoscope told me to listen to jazz (i know it’s stupid leave me alone) so i put on this playlist and immediately was bombarded with every thought and headcanonon and feeling i’ve ever had about the mortal instruments universe. this is the third playlist i’ve ruined by associating it with a book series, fml

isabelle's dream entering edom is truly so heartbreaking like.....she just wanted to be celebrated, and have everyone she loves around her, all of them alive and happy, and happy for her too. out of the tmi gang, and likely everyone in that series, she is the one who works harder to keep everyone together, to stop them from fighting, to stop her parents from treating alec badly, etc. and to do so she sacrifices a lot of who she is as a person, she makes herself a heartbreaker to bring attention to her relationships instead of alec's (or alec's lack thereof), and doesn't let herself get attached lest she get hurt as well when she eventually leaves them. she is always trying to be the glue that sticks everyone together. she is always looking out for the people around her, bc she wants to see them happy. she is so... human. so human compared to the people who consider themselves holy for having a bit of angel blood.

there's a lot to be said about the tragedy of the loss of low-budget campy fantasy shows in western media bc unless they're like high-budget, overly-produced and stripped of any filler they get cancelled after one season of 8 episodes but truly one of the biggest defense in favor of them and why we need them is the malec wedding kiss in shadowhunters
