More traumatized middle aged man art!
TRIGGER WARNING for minor blood, discussion of trauma and mental illness
And a Perfect Blue reference
Random rambling about this drawing below, if you're interested.
Going more in deept about Avalon's trauma.
Disclaimer: I'm avoiding saying names of specific mental illnesses and instead just saying single symptoms for the sake of avoiding causing stigma or mischaracterization of those mental illnesses, the interpretation it's up to the reader.
Avalon's life before Shadowhaunt was really simple and bright for him, since his duty as a Paladin was always to bring hope and light to those who needed it, he firmly believed that hope always defeated the darkness. Shadowhaunt and Darkar made him doubt his most primal beliefs.
The blood here it's just symbolic, it's not really there. he's just stabing a pillow with a pen, angry with himself by the fact he couldn't stop the clone nor Darkar himself, and in general feeling utter disgust for how the clone manipulated (and behaved, specially with) Bloom and everyone.
He also has night terrors and flashbacks to single moments from his time in Shadowhaunt, as his mind repressed some memories for his sake.
Darkar tore off his wings, he knows it, even if he doesn't remember it very well.
On top of that he has to deal with auditory hallucinations (usually in moments of high stress) and a degree of depersonalization.
When he started teaching he didn't want to present himself as "charming" at all, so he took a more apathetic approach based on memorizing information rather than his personal method of teaching. which made him feel just as fake as his impostor (in addition to the fact that the students performed better with the impostor than with him)
On the outside he's friendly but reserved, not wanting to cause trouble for others and keeping his problems for himself.
Basically, this man it's broken from the inside, and it will take a ton of time of therapy and having good people around him to reach a better point.

Yes, we're writing a one-shot based on "what if Darcy didn't kill Iorda and she chose peace."
TW: Murder-ish, and blood
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Light filled the corner of Darcy's vision as she stood in front of the portal back to Shadowhaunt, watching Icy and Stormy begin to walk into it. It was where they had been hiding out for the past two months after the Winx had defeated Acheron, and it would be unpleasant if they were discovered.
“Make sure there’s no way she survives,” Icy said plainly before she and Stormy walked through the portal, and then the swirling whiteness disappeared without a trace.
Darcy watched the space where the portal disappeared before taking a deep breath. She had no qualms about killing Iorda. It was something that had to be done, and something both she and her sisters were glad had finally happened.
After all these years she'd die.
Darcy walked over to Iorda and kneeled next to her, eyeing the wound in her gut and the cut down on her face. Icy had given her both, the latter when she called to call for help, something Iorda wouldn't have been capable of now.
“So,” Darcy started, tilting her head. “Have you finally learned your lesson after all these years?”
Iorda gasped in a breath, tears falling down her face and mixing with the blood. Darcy felt it strange how after all this time that Iorda was just a weak fairy. After all the problems she caused she was still capable of pain.
Of regret, as Darcy saw on the girl's expression.
“I…” Iorda started shakily, shivering and sobbing. “Yes… Just… please don’t… kill… me. Please…”
Darcy laughed to herself, the very idea of that not making sense to her in any way.
“Do you really think I’d let you survive?” Darcy said before tilting Iorda's chin up to look her in the eye. “After everything you’ve done, of how much of a nuisance you've been, what makes you think that I would show any type of mercy to you?”
That wasn't the plan.
"I..." Iorda said weakly, choking on a sob. "I don't want to die..."
Darcy opened her mouth to speak before she felt her stomach churn in sympathy. Deep down she knew this wasn't personal. Iorda was the Fairy of Dark Arts, and Darcy would've felt the same resentment if it was someone else.
Iorda didn't ask for this.
Like Darcy didn't ask for her planet to be cursed at her own hands.
"I know," Darcy said, trying to force the harshness back into her voice. "No one does, do they?"
She could tell Iorda couldn't speak through the pain, and that didn't surprise her. She'd seen the girl go through pain after pain, but she wasn't indestructible.
Just like Darcy wasn't some sort of pinnacle of apathy.
Darcy pursed her lips as she looked down at Iorda, brushing a piece of the girl's hair away from the bleeding cut on her face while still being careful not to touch the likely agonizing wound.
"It was never personal," Darcy began, in a tone that surprised both herself and Iorda based on the slight confusion on the girl's face. "You were a problem; one we had to get rid of."
Darcy was a master at loopholes.
"But still..."
Icy said to make sure Iorda doesn't survive.
Darcy knew Iorda as the fairy who'd ruined their plans.
That Iorda wouldn't survive.
"You don't deserve the life you got," Darcy said, softening her voice as she focused on her psychic enough. It was easy to find where Iorda's memories were, especially with how weak with were.
Darcy rested a glowing hand on Iorda's forehead, one that Iorda tensed at before her eyes closed.
"I didn't either..."

Three Years Later...
Icy learned not to despise Earth as much as she thought.
For the past four months, she and her sisters had retreated to the magic-less planet after assisting the Winx in defeating Valtor for the second time, trying to keep themselves out of the eyes of those who knew them.
Icy still had no clues of how to free Diamond and her sister, Sapphire.
She also had no clue how to stop herself from freezing the people at the supermarket who were always annoying. That middle-aged woman, who always yelled at the cashiers, and the child who always called Icy a vampire.
Icy shoved the paper towel from the shelf into her bag before looking towards the other end of the aisle. She had to do a double take, because the girl eerily looked like that fairy she and her sisters killed four years earlier.
The girl made eye contact with Icy.
The witch realized, somehow, this was Iorda.
What the fuck did Darcy do?
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Icy had raced back to the apartment she shared with her sisters. She guessed that it was a mystery to even the Winx that their friend was still alive, like how it had been a mystery to Icy that Darcy apparently left Iorda alive.
She slammed open the door, startling Darcy and Stormy. The first was reading on a chair, and Stormy as trying to put together a new runic sequence.
"You didn't kill her?" Icy questioned, closing the door behind her.
Stormy raised an eyebrow, glancing between the two. "Who?"
"Iorda, because she's somehow still alive," Icy said before looking at Darcy who was folding the page of her book she left off on, looking put off and hardly calm. "You said-"
"You said to make sure Iorda doesn't survive," Darcy retorted, leaning back in the chair. "That wasn't Iorda. That's just a girl from Earth who has no idea magic even exists."
Icy had to stop herself from both being proud of Darcy for finding that loophole or tearing her sister's hair out. "You wiped her memories?"
"That I did."
"Do the Winx know?"
"Not that I know of."
"Why?"
Darcy paused at Icy's question before sighing. "Our lives were shit Icy. Your situation with Diamond, mine with Zenothe." She stood up. "Besides magic, that's one thing we had in common with her."
Stormy paused. "I mean, you're not wrong..."
Darcy gestured to Stormy as if to say 'I told you so.'
"Look, I got rid of the issue," Darcy continued to explain. "Iorda was no longer a problem for us, and she won't be an issue even now. She was evidently annoying, yes, but I wasn't going to kill her just because she got drawn into a fate out of her own control."
Darcy knew Icy understood that.
All of them understood that.
Icy sighed. "And you're sure you didn't forget anything."
"No. I got rid of all her memories and knowledge of magic," Darcy reassured. "She's-"
There was a knock at thier door and Icy desperately didn't want to deal with this. Hell, even Darcy didn't want to. Stormy glanced between her two sisters before shrugging and walking towards the door to let the two of them deal with this issue.
Stormy opened the door and her face fell.
Shit.
"You three had better explain why you, one, look like how I described people who've tried to kill me," Iorda said with a glare, a small book—a diary—clenched in her hand. "And two, why the fuck I don't remember how I supposedly have magic according to this."
Stormy froze, hearing Icy and Darcy arguing without knowing who was at the door.
"Um... Icy!" Stormy called warily.
"What?"
"Darcy forgot to question if 'you-know-who' wrote everything down!"

Since we’ve just been fed Valtor lore (thank you very much btw) can you feed us some Darkar and Ancient Coven lore pls? 🥺💙
Darkar’s got the same 2-page spread Valtor did (just in the Enciclomagia 1) and so far I’ve found less on the Ancient Witches, though I could be missing the pages. Here’s what I can offer though!
Saying Darkar was never human, which was always a RAI staple but not a 4Kids one (in 4Kids the power of the Shadow Phoenix overtakes people who wander into Shadowhaunt, according to Faragonda).
Darkar apparently has clairvoyant abilities and can see the future in his cloak? I’ve never heard of this? I could have used this in fics?
And the Ancient Witches were apparently defeated by this guy at one point? I need to translate more about him in other sections of the book.

Winx, The Roxy Chronicles: Back with more Believix redesigns
It's been a while since I've tried to redesign Believix, but I've tried again and I'm reaching a point where I'm happy with them.
Believix is very different in this version of events. The Black Circle absorbs all magic around it, and so the Winx cannot maintain their transformation while near it. (Like when they were in Shadowhaunt in Season 2) To combat this, the White Circle created a form that's capable of warding off the Black Circle's effects: Believix (different name though) So the form isn't that strong or anything, but it's enough to give the girls a fair chance in a fight.
Bloom: After going through a lot of designs, I've found this one nice. It's heavily based on her Enchantix with lots of flowy fabric. I love Bloom in ponytails, so up it goes.
Stella: Again based heavily on her Enchantix, but with the hair from the Enchantix concept art. It makes her look mature and stylish as hell.
Flora: This time it's more based on her Bloomix design. Since Bloomix doesn't exist in this version, I felt free to use elements from it. And I just love Flora's. I simplified it to make it easier to animate in 2D, and gave her a ponytail so she'd have different bangs for once.
I'll get to Tecna, Musa and Aisha soon!

When we're talking about Griffins color change...
Can we please talk about the fact that Darcys color of her casual outfit is light purple too? A outfit she wears in the first season a lot comparing to the other seasons where she only wears the dark purple one (I know she starts to wear it ik seaosn 3 again but after that we never saw it again)? Just like Griffin, she changes from light colors to dark and like Griffin she also stopped wearing her cute glasses (WHY both of them looked so good with their glasses!). It's like both want to stop being associated with that previous version of themselves while they still hold on to that color scheme bc not everything was just bad about it.
Griffin hated what she did but that doesn't changed anything about the feelings she had/has for Valtor and the moments they shared with eachother just for them. And Darcy maybe hated Griffin and everything that had to do with her when she kicked her and sisters out but she cloud tower was for several years still something like a home and maybe one of the safest places she was during her teenager years. Despite the ending I think she has some really good times there. And both hold on to that memories through the colors. Griffin a bit diffrently but still in the same way.
I hear what you're saying and it makes a lot of sense but Darcy's different outfits coexist in the first season. And the lighter civilian outfit vs darker battle outfit is true for Icy too while Stormy's are pretty much the same color which I think is exactly the significance here? Because the Trix were supposed to appear as random if even excessively mean-spirited school bullies in the first season who are then revealed to actually be villainous enough to want to conquer the entire universe and almost succeed. So Darcy and Icy have a lighter color scheme in their civilian outfits because they're putting up a front while Stormy doesn't even bother to do that as she's always a chaotic baby.
Also, their battle outfits are just more practical for... battle in season 2 as that's all they do. They don't have any chill time and they're always on missions when they leave Shadowhaunt. Only time they wear something else is when they're trying to be undercover at Red Fountain in 2x08. Compare that to season 3 where Valtor doesn't always need them and they are more comfortable in their hideouts so they just hang out in their civilian outfits again. (Lmao, "Valtor is a better boss than Darkar" is not the take I expected to emerge from this 😂 (considering all his manipulation of them while Darkar wasn't even trying in that department.))
I'm just analyzing canon here. However, I do think that you're right about Darcy (and the rest of the Trix) holding on to the good times they had in CT and feeling slighted by Griffin expelling them. They are always looking to muscle back in on CT and take control of it away from Griffin. First in season 2 through their Gloomix power-up and then instantly looking to make use of Valtor's unchecked power by having him secure it for all of them. While a big part of this is definitely their egos being hurt by being kicked out by Griffin, I think there's also a part of them that really perceived CT as their safe haven, their fortress. We don't know anything concrete about the treatment witches receive in canon (besides the ton of unfortunate implications) or about the Trix' lives prior to s1 but I think that they truly felt that with all their power and their ancestry, CT should sort of be like their birth right, that they have a claim on it. Which adds very interesting nuances to them as they seem to have gotten attached to it as not just a comfortable and convenient base of operations but as a stable home, implying they've never had that before. There's certainly a lot going on here!
P.S. The glasses were cool and I wish we'd seen more of them by virtue of more flashbacks with Griffin/more downtime for Darcy as I can't see Griffin making them work in her show outfit (they'd have to be redesigned too) and I think they could be a bit of a safety hazard for Darcy in battle.

The Beckoning of Shadows - Chapter Twenty-Four
preview
“She’s in there?” Darcy asked curiously, and the phantom finally looked away from her own reflection, glancing over to where the Trix were watching her.
Let me out! Bloom screamed soundlessly at the phantom, once again banging nonexistent hands against the walls of her mind that held her.
The phantom curled Bloom’s lips up into a wicked smile and stalked closer, enjoying the way the witches stiffened.
Let me out! Let me out! Let me out!
“Oh, she certainly is. You should hear the way she screams.”
Bloom could only hiss her anger this time and the phantom giggled, covering her mouth with a sooty hand.
“Bloom is supposed to be ours,” Icy said furiously, turning glittering eyes on Darkar. “It was bad enough that you didn’t tell us about this part of the plan, but now you let this thing torment what is supposed to be ours-!
“Enough,” Darkar snapped, and the air grew colder as Icy clenched her fists. Sephiron, the paladin who had posed as Avalon, shifted but didn’t intervene. Darkar rose from his throne and held out a hand for the phantom to take, nodding in approval as he scanned her from top to bottom. “Just a small token of appreciation for coming to hear me out, and I must say it suits you, my dear.”
Stormy pretended to gag in the background.
Darkar ignored her, settling those burning eyes on the phantom. “Have you given any thought to my proposition?”
Because as the occupants of Shadowhaunt had quickly realised upon the phantom’s arrival, they might have created her, but they had no idea how to control her.

Will never get over that in deciding which Winx will go to Shadowhaunt, Faragonda made good points about Musa and Flora not being able to go and then proceeded to send the one fairy that NEEDS sunlight to a place with no access to it.
#like as much as I love the Downland arc for Stella and Brandon’s relationship#Stella also shouldn’t have been taken down there lol

👾 : Does your muse play any games?
Headcanon Symbols | @runyou-clever-boy
(He does! When he has the time and energy for it. Longer games like Baldur’s Gate 3 are harder for him to get into, but he adores the Devil May Cry series. When DMC5 came out, he played it every waking hour outside of work, and finished it in a weekend! He starts new playthroughs every now and then, just to fuck around with mods and whatnot. He also has replicas of Dante’s cowboy hat, devil sword Dante, and Yamato, and he modeled part of his Shadowhaunt costume after V’s sleeveless corset coat! Here’s what that looks like:
Dante’s hat:
Devil Sword Dante:
And Yamato:
The guy legit has an accent wall in his apartment specifically for displaying those swords and other DMC merch. He’s obsessed, I tell you!
He’s played a handful of other games, too. Got really good at Super Smash Brothers and MarioKart because he played it with his siblings constantly. He’s played most of the Mortal Kombat games, and the more recent Legend of Zelda games. Tears of the Kingdom currently has him hooked. 😈 He figured out how to commit grievous war crimes against the bokoblins, and is actively looking for ways to implement them against Ganondorf.)

Sorry to bug you again! Do you have any Aisha and Sky headcanons? Ever since the first shadowhaunt episodes I can't get their friendship out of my brain
I don’t mind at all!
They, along with Stella, hang out at balls and entertain each other.
Aisha loves dragging him out to dance during balls and they (along with Stella) save each other from boring/awkward conversations with politicians.
Aisha joins him (and the boys in general) from time to time in the gym.
Aisha helps him build architecture models with Morphix, he goes crazy whenever she does this cause Morphix is so easy to mold, he uses it to practice and goes giddy. It’s like a kid playing with legos.
Sky is an awesome pilot and will occasionally give in to Aisha’s pleads to just fucking floor it. The others are horrified whenever this happens, sometimes they go out on an Owl just the two of them and they nearly cause about 30 accidents.
He helps Brandon teach her to drive a Windrider. Everyone wishes he hadn’t.
They have a study group with Stella for economics and other royal stuff.

A backstory post for Helia where his parents were on the side of the Ancestral Witches (except one of them was secretly a spy for the company of light).
So, one of them is killed (the actually evil one) by the ‘good guys’ while the other parent (the spy) got tortured as a punishment and has kind of lost their mind. So the living parent is imprisoned in Lightrock Monastery and thats where Helia grew up raised by Codatorta (canonically a knight from the Lightrock Monastery).
The parents doesn’t interact with anyone and doesn’t talk because trauma. baby Helia tries to talk to them but they don’t back so he figures out a way to do it through drawings.
So, Helia draws whatever he saw that day or learned about and he slides it to his parent through the bars and they just collect it and paste it on their prison walls which is their way of acknowledging Helia. Helia did this whenever he could and he grew up lonely surrounded by prisoners that made him question his morality because Lightrock believes in second chances then he shows up at RF when he’s of age and is then taught about how to kill someone fast and efficiently.
He spends about a year there, bullied and never trusted by his squad for being the son of a traitor (treason comic foreshadowing ooo). No one listens to him or respects him. And, he’s been trained by Codatorta himself since he was young so he’s like super good.
On a side note how can people hc that Codatorta doesn’t like Helia because he dropped out and “doesn’t believe in fighting” when this comic panel exists:
That your honour is his non-biological dad! I rest my case.
Anyway, he’s good on his own so Saladin lets him do a lot of spy stuff and solo missions. Helia is fine with it and starts to enjoy RF to an extent. He likes being a specialist and transforms into the adrenaline junkie we know and love.
Then boom, angst. When he’s working under a commander (someone from the council of light because i love that whole detail in the comics) and he gets left behind because they don’t have time or resources to extract him. So he gets kidnapped by the bad guys. Torture. History almost repeats itself but nope Helia breaks out of there.
He feels betrayed by the system that raised him, though he finds out Saladin didnt do this to him. So he confronts the commander who reveals that it was the company of light (not the main ones that are shown in canon but the members mentioned in passing) that ordered for his parent to be tortured until they are no longer themselves so they wouldn’t accidentally reveal any spy information to the evil side.
His world goes upside down and he actually finds out who and what his parents were and what they did. The reveal pisses him off and he leaves RF, vowing to never be a part of this war system again.
Then season 1 happens and RF is destroyed and mans is wallowing in self loathing that he wasnt there to protect saladin or the school. So, he comes back with the intention of coming back but he doesnt tell Saladin yet.
Then he eventually ends up staying and plays this whole ‘haha im flirting with you but please don’t like me back, you deserve better’ game with flora. Never plans on confessing but cant help but fLiRt until she full on yells at him to tell him she likes him.
And, we are back to comics where he avoids getting into a relationship with her despite the impulsive kiss at shadowhaunt. Until the shab stone arc happens and he’s like, this girl is really willing to go down with me no matter, I’m going to marry her. So, he’s like “just friends? I was hoping we were something more!”
Then yay, they’re together!
Then fast forward to when they’ve been together for a while and Flora’s like, hi, when are we introducing each other to our families?
Helia’s hesitant and doesn’t want to do it. Dances around the topic even though he shows all neat and nice at her house for dinner with her parents.
Then Flora shows him her box full of every single drawing or poem he gave her, even small little notes with smiley faces he doodled on her notebooks. And, Helia’s holding back tears because shit parallels with his parent.
He ends up bringing her to meet his parent and she has a breakdown when she finds out why Helia loves art so much and then starts ugly crying when there’s a few drawings of Flora on his parent’s prison wall and she realises Helia already told them about her but she thought this entire time he didn’t take their relationship as serious enough to tell them.
And, that’s all I have for this today.

Break The Chain: Week 2
“Luckily, this is a problem with an easy solution.” Darkar turns to Baltor, who tries not to flinch at the gaze. “Since you’ve arrived, the only thing you’ve done with any sincerity is get into trouble. That energy can be put to better use.”
He waves a taloned hand, bringing up a sphere of white magic. The colors within shift, bringing up an image of five smiling and laughing girls. He doesn’t recognize them, though the two in the middle resemble Queens Luna and Niobe, respectively. “This is the second time in as many months that these…Winx fairies have entered Shadowhaunt. Give them something else to focus their attention on.”

Ever thought redesigning galatea and maybe the trix?
Also would villains like darkrar, the trix or valtor be in trc?
I don't feel any kind of need to redesign characters from the first three seasons The Trix are so damn iconic, I don't think I could improve them
I wouldn't redesign Galatea per say, because again I think she looks fantastic, but designing her an Enchantix wouldn't be off the table
Timeline wise, she will be in TRC. Season 3, Galatea in her first year - Season 4, the summer between school years - TRC Season 1, Galatea in her second year
And Galatea deserves a lovely Enchantix dress, we stan Galatea
BUT if you are looking for a Galatea fix, my friend @snarky-art did their own Enchantix design for her https://www.tumblr.com/snarky-art/727731844571873280/was-talking-about-my-ships-in-discord-and-got-a?source=share
And I think it looks pretty amazing!
And the villains? Yes and no. It's complicated lol. Let's go in order
The Trix won't be in the main 3 seasons of TRC. They are, after all, the Winx's villains. In the hypothetical 4th Season, where the Winx and the Dragonflies unite, then the Trix would make a glorious return.
Darkar, kinda???? Well not Darkar himself, but it's implied that the Shadow Phoenix lives on in Shadowhaunt. You can destroy the host, but the power exists so long as the Dragon Flame exists So Darkar is gone gone, but someone will become the new host for the Shadow Phoenix
And Valtor? No. He's gone, and I think bringing him back just ruins his reputation and legacy. Looking at YOU, Season 8
And I think giving the Dragonflies the same villains as the Winx is a little lazy lol

The Manifestation of Dronia's Dhampiric Nature:
Dronia had barely made her way to the next village over, clinging so thinly to life that a mild wind could topple her. She had collapsed at the door of druid and friend Jalen and his wife Jenithyr Gill. Jalen had been a member of their previous company, the same one that had just been slaughtered, but had sat out that job to be with his wife who was about to give birth. Seeing Dronia covered in blood and on death's door, the couple had taken her in. Jalen had noticed the marks on Dronia's neck almost immediately and began to worry that she might turn. Thinking fast, he directed Jenithyr to pull some ingredients together to concoct an elixir akin to tea that she could drink to keep the possibility of transformation at bay. He administered it to her for days until she regained consciousness, her once green eyes now red as blood but no other signs of vampirism. Cautious optimism had gripped him and he made sure to give her enough supplies and instructions on how to make this tea, telling her that it would help her heal and where she could find more of the ingredients. Which had gone well... up until she was taken by the Nautiloid. Her supplies in the days that followed dwindled and unfortunately, some of the core ingredients were mostly found in the Shadowhaunt and other areas of the Dalelands and the North Western parts of Cormyr. As her supplies run out, Dronia finds her nightmares are getting worse and so is the unshakeable feeling that something is very wrong with her and it isn't the tadpole wiggling behind her eye. She knows she shouldn't have survived, so what kept her alive, and what happens when it manifests?

introducing my first shadowhaunt dolls
Lace she/her - stalwart and reserved, died by drinking poison, plunged into darkness and cursed into a shadowhaunt.
Ambush he/him - mischievous and swift, died by rolling the lowest among them, embraced by darkness and cursed into a shadowhaunt.
shadowhaunts are "monsters" that show deteriorated forms of their doll's ghosts who are fallen to darkness. they camouflage in dark places, but they're unsafe against any light nearby. they aren't the only monsters that are desiring for a life force, none other but trapping and sinking victims to a silent void of death. any of these would almost be impossible to bring them back to their corporeal bodies.
