Finally finished my FE1 playthrough! I enjoyed it thoroughly to the end. I'll always understand why it's not for everyone, but old school strategy/ RPG game clunk is my jam.

And now it's time to give the animations some major credit in this game - the GBA FE games get all the animation spotlight, but FE1 set the foundation that led to them in the first place!

The sprite art team did not have to go this hard for a Famicom game, but they sure did. Some of them are a little derpy - Marth's standard attack animation is him slowly walking up to the enemy, lightly whacking them, then walking back into position - but most of them are really dynamic for 8-bit!

Marth ends up redeeming himself with Falchion's unique animation, anyway. The backflip is one for legends.

And Medeus? You know how he's an earth dragon? So of COURSE he comes crawling out of the ground! I don't know how... the final battle map is in a castle... but the final boss doesn't need logic, okay?

And then... one day in 2008, FE11 happened. I still love playing this game too, and defend it a lot. ...I just wish I could know what happened during development, that made it the game where animation goes to die, when it's a remake of THE FE1.

they should remake fe1 again but give every character giant anime eyes and neon hair and goofy outfits like engage just to make everybody mad. it’ll still look 10x better than shadow dragon.

Golden Deer Ashe

In the game's E3 reveal trailer, the character Ashe was shown to be part of the Golden Deer house, among other things that would change in the years leading up to release. He would be part of the Blue Lions in the end, serving as the house's resident archer. With his backstory and subplots centered around Faerghus, the homeland of the Blue Lions, it's interesting to imagine how different things might be if he had remained in the Golden Deer.

Jagen death scene

In the original drafts for the first Fire Emblem game, Marth's mentor and steward, Jagen, was meant to die in a cutscene at some point in the story, leaving the young prince to continue his campaign without the old paladin's aid. This was one of many cutscenes which were scrapped from the game due to engine limitations, but it is still possible for Jagen to die in the final release (though this is part of the game's permadeath mechanic rather than a story event).

5 Biggest Girl Bosses in Fire Emblem 1-

Artemis- decides to really own the fact she was named after a famous Virgin by getting a curse named after the fact she couldn't get laid.

Nyna- gives away the fire emblem because she wanted this to be the one game where players actually know what the fire emblem is. Sees a guy who vaguely looks like her ex-boyfriend and goes to a different continent to break up his marriage.

Lena- decides she has to fight 3 dozen bandits by herself to get a staff buyable in every shop despite having the only warp staff in the game. A real fe player who constantly asks herself- but what if I REALLY NEED 15 more mend uses.

Caeda- turns marth into her male wife by not only being the Lord who recruits everyone, but also being the best boss killer in the series with the wingspear

Minerva- who else could it be at number 1? The FIRST fe character to go "Oh no I'm at zero health you killed me, psych! I'm too much of a girl boss to die here". Makes a whole squad of female soldiers because she supports other girl bosses. So cool a legendary axe is created out of literally nothing just so she can be more special in the remake.
