Does anyone have tips for formatting on ao3? I’ve never posted a long fic on there and don’t quite understand how to not make it look like a single block of text…

Stargate rewatch: 1x21 Within the Serpent's Grasp
Tumblr media
We’re back in tarp city, quite a circle back to the pilot.
Daniel sans glasses once again, urging the team to go through the gate to the address he got in the AU. Jack still doesn’t believe him and Sam is concerned about a court martial, but Teal’c is immediately on board.
“In the other reality by the time I left Sara was dead, Carter your whole family was dead, hell I was dead, everyone was dead.” Interesting that Daniel specifically mentions Sara here, I wonder if the Jack/Sara relationship was something they were considering revisiting at some point.
Tumblr media
The first use (I think) of the black BDUs by the team.
Is Daniel wearing contacts? At least in the earlier scene he had his glasses hooked on his shirt. I realise I’m harping on this but there doesn’t seem to be any continuity to Daniel’s vision.
Story by James Crocker (his only Stargate credit), teleplay by Jonathan Glassner, directed by David Warry-Smith.
Our first use of the Zat’nik’tel - unpopular opinion maybe but I love the Zats, they become somewhat of a crutch as an all purpose stun gun rather than the “extreme pain” they’re introduced as inflicting, but that’s how it goes.
Jack, Daniel, and Sam being floored by the ship accelerating but not Teal’c is a nice touch.
Tumblr media
It’s Ferretti! Confirmation that he took over from Kawalsky leading SG-2. I always liked Ferretti, it’s a shame he wasn’t more of a supporting/recurring character in the show. In fact I don’t think we see him again after this episode? He’s off to get into prosthetics on Andromeda.
Some continuity issues with what Teal’c knows about the Ha’tak vessels in this episode compared to later on - his knowledge/experience really is dictated by the episode requirements.
The Jaffa turn on the big ol’ silver ball of communication and Apophis dials in to introduce his son Klorel. It’s a bit of a retcon from the pilot but I discuss my headcanon explanation in that episode writeup.
Tumblr media
Daniel shifting into rage mode at seeing Apophis.
Also lol at everyone in their beanies but Jack. RDA really said nope, caps only for O’Neill, no exceptions.
The discussion the team has about whether to try and capture Klorel/rescue Skarra is actually a nice mirror of the one they have in The Nox - Jack and Daniel, being emotionally invested, are keen to do it despite the risk and are quick with justifications (Jack - it would be a strategic advantage, Daniel - they could try and reach Skaara), Teal’c supports them with his own tactical logic, while Sam appropriately questions the plan and makes sure there’s a contingency.
It’s part of why they make such a good team - each of them bring a different skillset and pov to each situation, and they have the respect for each other to talk it through.
Tumblr media
Sam and Daniel plant the C4, and apparently Daniel’s glasses were clipped to his shirt after all, because he takes them out and puts them in a vest pocket for some reason.
For Daniel's snark about "uploading a virus to the mothership" the previous episode, it's kind of lol that their solution ends up being just blowing up the mothership - uploading a virus in the form of explosives.
Jack and Teal’c actually nab Klorel pretty easily in the end - it’s holding onto him that’s the problem.
“He is my father. He seeded the queen mother. He chose the host in which I will live out eternity. Apophis gave me life.” I suppose we’re meant to assume Amaunet is the queen in question but I really wish they’d done more with the familial relationships - both of the Goa’uld and human sides.
Alexis Cruz gives a great performance as Klorel, really pushing Jack’s buttons.
Tumblr media
After Jack shoots him with the Zat, Skaara calls for both Sha’re and Daniel 🥺
Skaara is able to maintain a degree of influence over Klorel even when he regains control - afteraffects of the zat, Skaara’s strength, or because Klorel is a young Goa’uld not yet experienced in controlling a host? Perhaps all three.
Klorel gets Daniel in the hold of the ribbon device (but of course!), and Jack has to make the agonising decision to shoot Skaara to save Daniel’s life.
I mean, if I had a nickel every time a member of SG-1 has to shoot one of Daniel’s family to stop the Goa’uld that possesses them from killing him with the ribbon device…
Maybe it’s not that weird it happened twice, since Jonathan Glassner also wrote Forever in a Day.
Tumblr media
“O’Neill, you must take action!” Why doesn’t Teal’c take action? Someone run over there and tackle Klorel instead of standing around watching Daniel’s brain get fried!
But of course it has to be Jack - Jack who brushed by Daniel in the pilot to greet Skaara, but has grown closer to Daniel since he joined SG-1; they started out only united by a common goal (find Sha’re and Skaara) but have started to develop a real bond. It’s the emotional climax not only of the episode, but the whole season in forcing Jack to chose between the lives of his surrogate son and his comrade and friend.
Added to this is the trauma of Jack being forced to stop Skaara with a gun - Charlie died in part due to Jack’s negligence around his gun, but Jack actively had to shoot Skaara here and that’s heartbreaking.
Tumblr media
A nice mirror to the end of the last episode, with our team staring down at the Stargate framed by the control room of the SGC, and now they're staring down at Earth framed by the Pel'Tak.

Note
you HAVE to post some of Sha're and Teal'c party time. I am on my knees. I have been robbed by the universe. Only you, the universe's insurance adjuster, can
YOOOOOO how did I just know you'd be in my inbox demanding Sha're content, you, the person I conned into watching Stargate with Sha're/Daniel content >:3
So, "Sha're and Teal'c Party Time" is a lil fic that I've been working on for a bit. It of course takes place in my as-yet-unpublished "Sha're Lives" AU, in which Forever in a Day ends with them capturing a heavily-injured Amuanet. The events that unfold from there are a full fic in their own right (in fact, it's one of the fics in my WIPs list), but long story short, they get the snake out of Sha're's head and the series proceeds more or less as usual except Sha're is living on Earth and her and Daniel get to be stupid and domestic and also Skaara shows up like WAY more because of course he's gotta visit his fuckin' sister.
But the MAIN premise of the "Sha're and Teal'c Party Time" fic is that it's the start of their friendship. Sha're is living in the SGC while she learns about Earth Stuff and gets her forged paperwork sorted out, and Daniel has to go home and start gaslighting his neighbors reminding his neighbors that he has a wife from Egypt who he's definitely totally mentioned and who is finally getting through the immigration system to come and live with him. Sha're wakes up from a nightmare and ends up running into Teal'c at 4am breakfast and then they start like... talking about stuff!
(Frankly, this is 100% about me pursuing my headcanon that Teal'c watches pro-wrestling and that Sha're would get into it via him... but it's also about becoming besties with a person who's done things that altered the course of your life forever and how to begin again when you're both brand new versions of yourself and also also it's about alien solidarity.)
Gonna put snippets below the cuuuuuut:
When she stepped into the mess, she had a book tucked under her arm and her hair pulled back from her face with one of the bright scarves Janet had gifted her. It wasn’t much, but the flower pattern set her apart even when she was wearing the same dark blue fatigues that so many SGC personnel wore. She half-heartedly grabbed herself a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of some type of fruit juice (she would have to inquire what a “cran-apple” was later, for the simple paper sign taped to the dispenser gave her no other clues and the mess staff at this early hour seemed too rushed and sleepless to bother with questions). As she turned to find a table, though, she stopped short. Teal’c stood in front of her, looking impassive as usual. If he was surprised to see Sha’re up this early, he wasn’t showing it in any way that she could spot.  “Good morning, Sha’re Jackson,” he said. Sha’re smiled a little, meeting his gaze cautiously. “Good morning, Teal’c.” For a moment they were both silent and Sha’re swallowed, glancing around the mess hall quickly, looking for a seat even as she tried to continue conversationally, “I’m sorry, I did not realize you took your morning meal this early.” “I generally do not. I am here for a hot tea,” Teal’c replied. “I apologize for disturbing you if your intent was to avoid me.” Sha’re blinked in surprise and turned her gaze back to Teal’c, frowning. “What? I…” she flushed slightly, shaking her head. “No, Teal’c, I wasn’t trying to avoid you. I… I couldn’t sleep.”
annnnnd a second one just because I know you're rabid:
She settled into a seat and cast a furtive glance toward where Teal’c was gathering his tea and turning to walk to her table. …Frankly, she feared that the past still sat as solidly as a wall between them. How does one begin again on friendly terms with the man who had, albeit under duress and servitude, delivered her to the fate that had kept her chained for two years? Sha’re closed her eyes momentarily, breathing in and back out again with carefully deep breaths, letting her lungs fill up completely and holding for a heartbeat before she slowly let the air back out again, trying to clear the anxiety from her mind. Janet had given her several methods to employ when she was feeling overwhelmed. She opened her eyes just as Teal’c settled into the chair across from her, his hands cupped around a steaming mug. He was looking at the book she’d brought with her, which she’d left sitting thoughtlessly on the table beside her plate. “The history of spaceflight,” Teal’c said, speaking the book’s subject flatly. His eyes glanced up to meet hers. “How are you enjoying it?” Sha’re shrugged, reaching out to slide the book closer to herself, idly picking at the edges of the pages. “It feels strange, I suppose,” she admitted. “When Daniel used to tell me of the technology of his world, it all seemed so… strange and powerful. How could it not be? They had killed Ra with their weapons.” She smiled wryly, shrugging again and looking at Teal’c. “And now when I read these descriptions, I can only see how small, how…” She squinted, trying to find the right word in English somewhere in her mind. “How lesser? Like these things are made of… flimsy things compared to what the Goa’uld have accomplished.”
maybe someday my brain will return from the war (the thousand projects and hobbies and responsibilities) and allow me to just. BLAST through a bunch of Sha're stuff for posting SPECIFICALLY for you <3

Gone
Part One
Summary: After losing his wife, Daniel leaves the SGC and tries to hide from the pain. But no matter how hard he tries to disappear, his past soon catches up with him.
Author’s Note: This becomes AU from the Season 2 episode Secrets but there are spoilers for other episodes for season one to season four. Hope you enjoy.
                             *********************************************
The heat that hit Daniel when he stepped out of the air-conditioned building was comforting after everything that had happened. It reminded him of happier times, of the parents he’d lost at a young age, and the family he’d found on the planet where he’d just buried the love of his life, along with her child.
He’d spent a week with the family she’d given him, in the home they had lived together for a year. One glorious year where he’d been blissfully happy, with the woman who had opened her heart to him, who loved him without question and had given him the family he always wanted.
Now it was all gone.
Sha’re was dead, as was the hope he’d had that he’d get his happy life back.
So, he did what he did best, he walked away.
Using the few connections that he had left, Daniel Jackson returned to Egypt and found a dig where no one cared about his reputation. Back to his roots, back to what he knew, back to being alone because he couldn’t lose anyone else.
Shifting his bag onto his shoulder, Daniel walked towards the bus that would take him to the dig.
Two Years Later
Jack let out a sigh of relief as he stepped out the Stargate and onto the ramp, it had been a long few days of sheer boredom. Carter had some fun playing with some tech while he and Teal’c guarded their camp against the odd rabbit-like creature that was native to the planet. There was no fourth member, they’d never replaced Daniel permanently. Every so often a member of what had been his department joined if the mission required it, but they preferred just to be the three of them.
“Welcome back, SG1,” Hammond stated, “Report to the infirmary. Mission briefing at seventeen hundred hours.”
Nodding Jack left the Gateroom and walked behind the other two members of his team to the infirmary where Fraiser was waiting for them.
Jack took a seat on the bed closest to the wall, closing his eyes in relief as he leaned against the wall closing his eyes for a moment.
“Colonel,” the doctor said as she joined him, “You know the routine.”
He gave a slight chuckle, holding out his arm for the blood test.
“Cassie received a gift in the mail this morning for her birthday,” Janet said softly as she took his blood.
“From Egypt by any chance?” Jack asked.
She nodded.
Silence fell between them while Janet went through the rest of the post-mission medical checklist
“I wish he’d call,” Janet said suddenly, “Just once so we know he’s alright.”
Jack squeezed her hand, “He’s still sending Cassie presents. That’s his way of letting us know.”
She nodded, “I’d better get the rest of your medical done so you can get to your debriefing.”
“Janet,” Jack called as she moved to call the MRI technician, “I know where he is, and I know he’s okay. I have a friend in the area who sends me updates every so often.”
She chuckled, “I should have known. You’d never leave him alone.”
“Daniel needs space after losing Sha’re and the baby,” Jack sighed, “This is what he has to do right now, but he’ll come back one day. I’m sure of it.”
~
Jack got through the meeting quickly before he left the mountain. He had to pick up Cassie’s birthday present from home before heading to Fraiser’s for the party.
Sitting in the car just outside, he looked in the window watching the fourteen-year-old girl they’d rescued as she brushed her hair, getting ready for her party. He was so proud how well she’d adapted to her new life, and loved seeing her relaxed in a world she didn’t know until three years ago.
Taking a breath, he put on a big grin for his adopted daughter/niece, and with the present under his arm knocked on the door.
“Jack!!” Cassie moved to hug him hello, she’d grown so much since the day they’d found her.
“Happy Birthday, kiddo,” Jack hugged her and kissed her cheek.
He handed her the present he’d brought and watched her put it on the table, as per the Fraiser birthday tradition spotting the parcel wrapped in plain brown paper sitting there.
“It came this morning,” Cassie said as she turned back to Jack, “He always sends me a birthday and Christmas present.  But I’d rather he come home.”
Wrapping his arm around her shoulders, Jack hugged Cassie to him, “I know, but right now this is what he needs. He’ll come home one day, we’re his family.”
“It’s been two years,” Cassie reminded him.
Jack nodded, “Grief has its own timetable, Cass. Losing Sha’re, it tore him apart and he’s still trying to put himself together. He hasn’t forgotten us, you can see that,” he nodded to the present on the table.
“Why haven’t you gone after him?”
“I will,” Jack said, “When the time is right.”
~
Sam smiled as Jack made a toast for Cassie’s birthday, she could see he was being as cheerful as possible for them as they tried to ignore the hole in the room where Daniel should be. They all missed the archaeologist, but Jack and Daniel had a special bond. They were family and had a way of bouncing off one another, which on occasion could drive everyone else crazy, but it worked for them.
When Sha’re had died, Jack stayed at Daniel’s side almost constantly from the moment they reached Abydos till after the funeral.
No one had expected Daniel to disappear the moment he returned from the week of mourning on his adopted home planet. But he didn’t show up at the mountain the day he was due back at work, his resignation was found sitting on his office desk, and the important personal journals along with Sha’re’s photograph were gone.
They didn’t talk about him much; she knew Jack kept tabs on Daniel from afar, but he wouldn’t tell them anything other than he was fine.
She was brought back to the room as Cassie began to open her presents. The teenager gave a happy cry at the new camera she received, the albums that she had wanted, and the painting supplies. As always Daniel’s present was left till last, Cassie let out a soft gasp when she unwrapped the glass sculpture of flowers in a vase. She loved handmade ornaments and, as always, Daniel found the perfect thing for her.
“That’s gorgeous,” Janet stated, “The colour in the petals is phenomenal. I wonder where…” she stopped and smiled, “Well, how about we have cake.”
As everyone moved into the kitchen, Sam looked at the gift. Daniel had an eye for these things, always had and she had a statue he’d had given her in her lab.
“Carter,” Jack called, “Cake, come on.”
With a sigh, she joined the others to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Cassie.
                             *********************************************
“Doctor Jackson.”
The call from outside the chamber made Daniel turn from the section of wall he was clearing sand from.
“Your ride is here,” Mike the intern told him before heading back to work.
Surprised at the time, Daniel quickly put away his tools ensuring everything was left neat for the next day before he headed out towards the camp.
“Ahmed,” he greeted the man sitting in the jeep, “I’ll be a few minutes.”
An amused chuckle came before Ahmed replied, “I ensure that there is always extra time whenever I come to pick you up.”
Rolling his eyes, Daniel headed to his tent and put his tools on top of the table before he grabbed his bag, heading out to the jeep and climbing into the passenger seat.
While Ahmed drove, Daniel stared out the window. He hoped Cassie’s gift had arrived on her birthday, but he had sent it with plenty of time so assumed it would.
When they reached their destination, Daniel jumped out and went inside to change before heading into the gym.
He’d come to enjoy working out when he was in the SGC, training so he could go on missions and found that it helped him not focus on the nightmare his life had become. It gave him a way to not dwell on losing Sha’re for a few minutes, just a few minutes of relief from the pain he carried with him each day, because he’d failed her.
Ahmed owned the gym and was happy to let Daniel work out whenever he needed to, helping Daniel keep up with his hand-to-hand training as well as letting him use the machines and weights for as long as needed.
It helped him sleep. Tiring himself out through exercise and training was the one way that let him rest without the nightmares, without the dreams that made him jerk awake in the middle of the night with his wife’s name on his lips.
Tonight, he’d decided to simply run, just run like he’d done when he was student and didn’t have much to eat to quell the hunger pangs. Only now he was running away from the ghosts that wouldn’t leave him alone.
~
Daniel woke to the sound of a vehicle entering the camp and confused voices. Pushing his hand through his hair, Daniel dressed quickly before he stepped out his tent and froze at the people climbing out of the jeep.
“Oh no,” he sighed, seeing his past appear before his eyes.
“Daniel?!!!”
The surprised cry from the blonde woman he’d never expected to see again made the man standing at her side turn and wince.
“Hi, Sarah, Steven,” he greeted softly, “What are you doing here?”
Dr Sarah Gardner and Dr Steven Rayner, his former colleagues, former friends and people he hadn’t seen since before his lecture that took him to the Stargate stared at him.
Steven shrugged, “I know you’ve been out of the loop for a while, but this is what we do.”
Daniel rolled his eyes, “You know what I mean. I’m in charge of the dig and no one told me anyone else would be joining us.”
“It’s not official,” Sarah said, “I’m guessing you haven’t heard, but David passed away a few weeks ago. We’re here to spread his ashes, in the place he loved. Since this is an official dig site then we were able to get permits to come.”
Daniel felt his throat dry, and he forced out, “What happened?”
“A gas explosion,” Steven told him, “I thought you’d come to the funeral.”
“I’ve been here for a while,” Daniel replied, “I don’t get much news.” He took a breath, “What’s your plan?”
“Well,” Sarah said, “You know David loved watching the sunrise during a dig, we thought that would be the best time to scatter his ashes and let him become one with it.”
Daniel nodded, “That sounds…appropriate.” He licked his lips and asked, “Can I join you?”
Sarah and Steven glanced at one another before Sarah nodded, “Of course. He always talked about you, wondered where you went. He’d be happy to know you’re with us for this.”
“Mike,” Daniel motioned over to the intern, “Will give you a place to stay. I have to get to work.”
Heading back into the solitude of his tent, Daniel allowed a tear to fall from his eye as another funeral was in his future.
~
“Hey,” Sarah’s voice from behind him made Daniel look up from the reports he was reading and turn to the entrance of his tent about an hour later.
“Hi,” he replied, “Did you get assigned a place to stay?”
She nodded, “I didn’t expect things to be so civilised considering our last conversation.”
“It’s been several years, and a lot has happened since then,” Daniel shrugged, “There’s no point hanging on to past arguments.” He gave a slight smile, “It’s nice to see you, Sarah.”
She smiled, “You too.” She pulled a seat over and sat across from him, “Have you been here all this time?”
Daniel hesitated before replying, “No, I was recruited by the Air Force for a time as a translator. I left about two years ago and took over the dig.”
“Working with the Air Force,” Sarah cried before chuckling, “I can’t imagine you doing that.”
“Why?”
“Because they’d expect you to follow orders,” she laughed, “And no one marched to the beat of their own drum more than you.”
Daniel shrugged, “It was a point of contention more than once, which is one of the reasons I’m now here.”
“Well, I should let you get back to work,” Sarah told him, “See you for dinner?”
He shook his head, “I can’t. I have an appointment tonight, but I’ll check in with you both for what time tomorrow.”
She caught his hand and squeezed it before leaving the tent.
~
Daniel punched the bag hard, needing to hit something. Learning his former mentor was dead, while having to deal with Sarah and Steven was too much for him. He could deal with working with everyone in the dig because he was in charge, they weren’t friends and didn’t expect him to be anything other than their boss.
The divide was there.
But Sarah and Steven were different, and they would try to get past the wall, Sarah especially.
Leaning against the punching bag, Daniel closed his eyes. He missed Sha’re. He missed how she could speak to the heart of any problems he was having. Missed talking to her about anything and everything, missed hearing her laugh.
Mostly, he just missed being wrapped in her arms because there his mind would calm simply because she loved him.
“Do you want to stick with the bag,” Ahmed’s voice pulled him back to the gym, “Or maybe have someone who will try to hit back?”
Daniel sighed, “I might actually hit harder than I intend to.” At Ahmed’s look he explained, “Some old…I suppose they could be called friends have come to the dig. It’s just…”
Ahmed simply nodded, “Well, I will take the risk.”
The rest of the evening Daniel sparred with Ahmed, his parent’s old friend who was the only reason he was making it through the days, by giving him a safe space to come when it got too much for him.
Finally, it was time to return to the camp. Daniel thanked Ahmed, now all he had to do was talk to Sarah and Steven about tomorrow morning then he could get some sleep.

i love daniel and sha're and i think that they deserved to be stargate's Power Couple instead of putting snake in her head in the very first episode BUT
imagine an au where she dumps his ass after two weeks on abydos or so and now his options include
a) awkwardly spending the rest of his life on an alien planet in a close-knit community with the girl who just dumped him and her whole family
b) awkwardly returning to earth and having to explain that in fact he did not die in nuclear explosion

So I might fic this later at some point but i don’t want to right now so Ill just talk about it instead, SO a big thanks to @a-sip-of-sunshine-tea for the encouragement!
So basically the short version of the story is that Ba’al and I meet in jail.
Peak romance.
But the long version is like this:
So, a but of backstory for my s/i before we get started talking about the plot of my main au for Stargate: SG-1.
My S/I, Leo, aka me, is a biologist who specialises in the study of parasites, and as a result occasionally travels with SG-1 through the gate and on missions, as her line of research focuses on the Goa’uld now that she was drafted onto the team.
So, this takes place around season three or four, but before Nirti gets in trouble with the other system lords, and well after Sha’re dies.
This is important because at this point in my canon, Daniel and I are engaged but still a ways off from the wedding (another story for another time, but I want to note that I’m poly)
Of course this gets borked when I get shot by a staff weapon on a mission and the others are forced to leave me behind, even though they had to drag poor Daniel through the gate kicking and screaming.
So, I wake up on a Goa’uld mothership and it’s Nirti’s and she’s trying to do the ‘torture me for information’ but my relationship with pain is Wack so I just keep asking her scientific inquiries between screaming. She’s also interested in the Naquidah implant I have in my arm I developed to blend in on motherships, etc, so they won’t necessarily Know that I’m not supposed to be there via Alien-Sense.
So she throws me in a cell and I look like shit but it’s whatever and, across the way from me, sitting on some very-out-of-place luxury furniture, is Ba’al, who got tossed in the naughty bin for not cooperating with Nirti’s ‘aggressive negotiations’ and so she’d in theory letting him stew for a while but thats a Mistake, because I fake a medical crisis and knock out the guard who comes to investigate, and when I let myself out of the Cell, Ba’als like “do you know how to fly a Goa’uld ship” and when I say know he’s like “I do.”
and at this point I know he has a symbiote but at that point it’s the least of my concerns so it’s like ‘sure’ And I lead the way with the staff weapon bc I’m not turning that over to a stranger in enemy territory, and he give’s me directions to the docking bay, where we make our escape.
There’s a lot of banter of course, and it’s flirty and funny and we’re both sarcastic asses about it, and once we’re in hyperspace and safe he promises to shower me with luxuries for aiding in his escape, loyalty is to be rewarded, etc, etc, Goa’uld speech #5, join me, blah blah blah.
Of course, in the back of his mind he knows I’m from earth because of my uniform and will try to woo and flirt information out of me once we get back.
But that doesn’t exactly go to plan because he tried taking us through a shortcut but it fucked up because of distortions in subspace and everything fucks up and we crash land.
And not only do we crash land, we crash land while I’m sending a subspace message back to the SGC letting them know I’m alive.
And on top of all that, it turns out we crashed because the planet/moon is an experimenting ground for time-dilation fields, so time on the surface is traveling much faster than everywhere else, and therefore a week outside is like three years on the surface.
Of course, we don’t know that.
I’ll finish this in a reblog some other time this is becoming a monster.

For your three sentence fic AU idea, how about Daniel and Sha're at a bowling alley on Earth??
Aww such a sweet trope. Alright, gotta think about something. Oh dear. 3 sentences... God I'm hating myself right now for getting out of my comfort zone a bloody cannon ball 🤣🤣 ugh... Anyway... Okay. 3 sentences. Daniel and Sha're. Right. Fine. A bowling alley. With the team ? Nah. Just them. Oh, maybe with the kiddo ? Nah, too many troubles if he starts glowing like a bloody Christmas light. Okey. OH I GOT IT !! *remember 3 sentences*
"Soo, this is our first official date since you've joined us, and I thought maybe we could go to the bowling alley... Which you obviously know nothing about, right." Daniel muttered as he was pacing in the living room, trying to find the perfect idea.
37 minutes was the time it took Sha're to convince him a bowling alley was a good start to discover Earth's traditions in terms of "dating", then it happened quickly, finding the place, driving there and explaining her the basics on the road.
"I like this game." She whispered in his ear when she shot her 5th strike under Daniel's incredulous look, who felt his heart melt when he saw her beaming smile.

Ma'am pls I need to know about that sg1/pjo thing you so casually mentioned.. like you cant just drop that on us with no explanation >:/
thank you @spacey-iris for waiting so long for this answer!!! And, here we go...
OMG OKAY HEAR ME OUT BECAUSE THIS IS MY FAVORITE FANDOM IDEA I HAVEN'T SPEWED ON THIS BLOG YET
Full disclosure: in middle school I was Percy Jackson OBSESSED. Writing this post is bringing back memories...ahhh, the good old days before Blood of Olympus came out and I swore off HOO forever...
Going through it carefully, I seriously wonder if Rick Riordan was watching Stargate when he started creating this world. It's no wonder I love Stargate now.
Jack O'Neill = Percy Jackson
I mean, c'mon! It couldn't be more perfect! Both of them are smartasses, have decided it's their life work to act dumb even though they're actually smart as hell. Both of them have ADHD and are VERY fidgety. Jack's a lot more tragic than Percy, because he's fifty instead of sixteen. But they act exactly the same, are loyal to a fault, and wayyyyy too humble. Not to mention they both fall in love with blonde geniuses who laugh at their stupid jokes and are driven NUTS by their dumb acts! Totally the same person.
Sam Carter = Annabeth Chase
I mentioned this already a little. But again, could they be more similar?! Both geniuses who are unafraid to show their smarts. Badass in a fight, and ALSO the person who will draw up a plan to save the world. Both have slightly inept fathers and absent mothers. Both are a little confused when it comes to love, and both of them are tomboys. Plus, they look similar? Like, Annabeth could literally be a teenage Sam Carter? Okay. I'm done.
Daniel + Teal'c = Grover + Tyson
This part isn't quite as perfect, but the combination of Daniel and Teal'c still manages to give off the exact same effect as Grover and Tyson? Daniel's got Grover's clumsiness, Grover's penchant for trouble, but Tyson's innocence. Teal'c has Grover's wisdom and the whole "outsider" perspective Grover and/or Tyson often bring, but he also has Tyson's giant-strongman thing going for him. They both love food in the same way Grover and Tyson love food (okay, now I want a fic where Teal'c tries to eat Louis XVI furniture).
Janet = Thalia
You KNOW I'm right. Same no-nonsense attitude, same attitude towards Jack/Percy. Annabeth and Thalia are besties, Janet and Sam are besties. Okay, Thalia is taller. But with her ability to command the infirmary, Ms. Napoleonic Power Monger could totally pass for a child of Zeus, right?
Hammond = Chiron
I think this one is obvious? Very tired mentors/grandpas who never, never get any time off and have to deal with the fallout of ALL the shenanigans. At least Hammond isn't stuck in a wheelchair outside of the SGC.
Miscellaneous thoughts
does that make...Frank Cromwell...Luke Castellan??
I NOW WANT TO MEET JACK'S MOM MORE THAN EVER IT IS A CRIME WE NEVER GOT TO MEET HIS FAMILY
OH MY GOD IS JUNIPER SHA'RE THAT IS HEARTBREAKING
clarisse is totally maybourne
oh my god walter and siler are connor and travis stoll
Chain Reaction = that early part of Sea of Monsters where Chiron is gone and the camp is just NUTS
who from SG-1 is Zoe Nightshade? idk
Percy is about the right age to be Jack's kid. Oh my god Percy could be Charlie.
Does that make Sara equivalent to Rachel?!
Pete just doesn't exist. Because I don't think Annabeth ever dates anyone else? I like this reality
FUCK SILENA IS MAKEPEACE
Bekendorf (i know i am spelling his name incorrectly, i have not cracked the spines on these books for at least five years, cut me some slack) but anyway he could be...someone who dies...hmm...oh i know! kawalsky!
And - quite obviously - there's a lot of personal parallels for me here too. I absolutely HATED how HOO took advantage of the original characters, and then made fun of them/destroyed their characterization (ahem, ANNABETH). I know lots of people loved HOO more, but for me the last two books especially ruined the characters. Not to mention they kept dangling Percy and Annabeth in front of our noses and then made us read about people who were not them. Funnily enough, 5 PJO books + 5 HOO books = 10 books total! Guess what has 10 seasons? That's right, SG-1! And guess what I refuse to acknowledge the last two seasons of, because said seasons destroyed characterization? Oh look, it's Stargate SG-1!
Speaking of that - if I'm running with the parallel then Landry could be Coach Hedge. And Mitchell can be Fucking Jason Grace--huh, that works well. And I think Vala can be Leo - aka the only one I liked of the new characters! :D
GUYS I NEED TO REREAD THIS NOW
I NEED TO WRITE SAM AND JACK'S KID READING PERCY JACKSON
SELF-INDULGENT PERCY JACKSON AU TIME

poll time ! please help me decide something for my fanfic :)
So, I'm trying to decide which episodes I feature in my Sha're is Daniel rewrite, but I really can't decide if I just do the episodes that only feature Sha're in canon, or if I do additional episodes too?
for reference, i only wanted to do episodes like children of the gods, secrets, forever in a day, maternal instinct, meridian and fallen that feature Sha're. Meridian and Fallen feature ascension which is something I wanted to do with my fic too...
other episodes i was thinking of include the s1 finale/s2 opener, abyss, the changeling, threads and pretense (for the trial of Skaara/Klorel)

“what if Teal’c shot Apophis in the pilot “ au, Tangled as Fairy Tale, and There's No Place Like Home? (If three is ok)
Ah, the Stargate ones, thank you!
“what if Teal’c shot Apophis in the pilot”--so this is my own take on a self-indulgent time travel AU. The idea is that SG-1 gets their consciousnesses sent back in time from somewhere around S10 to the first time each of them stepped through Earth’s Gate (because the travel mechanism is linked to Gate travel somehow), BUT they don’t get their conscious memories, just their S10 instincts/attachments/personalities.
And so then Apophis steps through in the pilot, looking to abduct some women, and Teal’c steps into the chappa’ai after him... but the Teal’c who comes out is psychologically/emotionally S10 Teal’c, not Apophis’s First Prime.
And if S10 Teal’c saw Apophis in the SGC Gateroom, he would simply shoot Apophis in the face until he was dead.
So he does that, instinctively, then fights with the other Jaffa a bit, and then General Hammond and his troops come bursting in and the other Jaffa flee and Teal’c surrenders? I think? And then Jack gets called in like canon... except this is S10 Jack and Daniel gets called in too, because they went through this the first time they went to Abydos and I feel like S10 Daniel wouldn’t decide to marry Sha’re and leave Earth forever. And then they and Teal’c instinctively recognize each other, and General Hammond, and everyone tries to hash out together what the hec the Stargate did to their brains. (And Sam gets called in and there’s a lot of one-sided recognition until she gets to go through the Gate, at which point she’s like “oh THIS is what you were talking about. WEIRD. OKAY” and tries to science the problem with aninside perspective.) But no matter what, Apophis is dead and Abydos never gets raided, so that’s a good start on a better timeline.
There’s very little of this actually written, but I did write Teal’c shooting Apophis, which was cathartic:
Teal’c of Chulak, Jaffa warrior, looks around this gray place. Somehow, it feels…it feels familiar, as if were welcoming him. Everything about it says to him, somehow, that this is a place of refuge, of protection, of freedom. This place is sacred to the protection of the innocent.
(…)
And then Apophis steps out of the chappa’ai, golden faceplate folding back until the cruel, bored, disdainful face is exposed. “Jaffa! Kree!” he demands, throwing in the unnatural boom of a Goa’uld voice…
And Teal’c finds his mind and heart on fire with revulsion and rejection that this creature, this thing, should be here. The sight of Apophis standing in this chamber, trespassing in a place of safety with his foulness, come to threaten the lives and liberty of the people to whom it belongs… It is unconscionable.
Teal’c finds himself ablaze with instincts he had not felt since childhood—and, in the place of his suddenly-vanished comrade Despair, he finds resolve and certainty.
Without a second thought, every part of him for once in total harmony, he lifts his staff and fires in Apophis’s stolen face—once, and again, and again, until there is only a smoking void within the golden helmet and no possibility of escape for the accursed snake.
There’s No Place Like Home--oddly enough, not an in-story Oz reference in the whole fic! Jack would be disappointed in me.
This is my SG-1/Atlantis AU that mostly lives in my head, but which I am very attached to—in this timeline, Daniel killed Anubis at the end of S6, and they beat the Replicators for good at the start of S8, which means Daniel was actually free to join the Atlantis expedition! So yes. Daniel-in-Atlantis-S1 AU.
This is set after their version of the ep “Home” (the one where aliens trick them into believing they’ve Gated back to Earth), and... well, here:
[Daniel] paused, hands gripping the railing, his head now tilted down to stare into the dark water. "I think I saw through it quicker than anyone, Teyla,” he confessed quietly, “except maybe John.”
She frowned. "But you were the last to come out of your simulation.”
He gave a dark huff of laughter. "Yeah," he agreed. “But I might have been the first to realize things weren’t what they seemed. I—the SGC is—it's my home, Teyla. I know it better than any of the others, and I know the people there. They…they could palm off a fake Hammond and Walter and all the rest on the others—but they couldn't palm off fake versions of my team, my family, on me, any more than they could avoid showing them to me." A genuinely amused, though small, smile appeared then, and he actually met her eyes for a moment. "And Jack's…pretty hard to imitate, if you don't know him well."
An open Daniel was a rare thing, and Teyla was hesitant to push further. But she felt he had not yet explained what he needed to.
"So why did you not leave the dream immediately, then?" she prompted him.
He smiled again—but now the pain had returned to the expression, making it darker than the starlit night around them.
"Teyla," he said quietly, "I spent the last seven years—give or take—hating and fighting against monsters that can crawl inside human beings and possess our bodies like their own. I lost my wife to one of them, and I knew there were still some out there fighting Earth when I left." He took in a deep breath. "When I realized Jack wasn't Jack…let's just say 'it's all a dream' wasn't the first explanation that came to mind."
And then Daniel has a bit of a late-night breakdown over being a galaxy away from home and Teyla helps him talk through it. Good times.

Stargate AU: Sam stays as leader of SG-1. Cam is put on the team under Sam’s command and has Stargate training. He’s a captain or a major. Daniel goes off to Atlantis and Jonas takes his place on SG-1.
Maybe I would have liked Vala if she had been written differently. For starters if she hadn’t sexually assaulted Daniel.
Vala leaving Hammond and several Stargate personnel on board a spaceship with failing life support wouldn’t have bothered me so much if the writers didn’t later put her on SG-1. Either what she did to them shouldn’t have been that bad or it should have been a bigger part of her story. It feels like it was never really addressed properly.
Her telling the truth to Daniel (or whoever is in his place in his AU) about there being people in danger also would have been better. It could have been like when John was kidnapped to fix a spaceship because a race of space faring people needed it.
Teal’c should have had more screen time. Possibly an unpopular opinion but I would have liked to see more of the council meetings between the Jaffa.  Not strictly Teal’c related but that the woman Jaffa council member had to have been brainwashed to want to wait until all the women Jaffa could vote rubbed me the wrong way. She could have been against Bra’tac and Teal’c’s government proposal for another reason. She could have even not stated a reason seeing as she was acting under brain washing. Women Jaffa not being able to vote should have been the first item on the agenda, or at least handled on the same time as other issues.
In Talion why not have Teal’c uncover a bunch of proof that Arkad was planning to attack Earth? Yeah, Arkad admits to Teal’c that he was deceiving the Tau’ri and going to attack Earth when they’re fighting. Teal’c just seems rasher in this episode. He didn’t kill Cronus when he was staying at Stargate Command so I think he would have listened to Stargate telling him to stop.
Sha’re has the symbiote possessing her body removed and Abydos isn’t destroyed. There was so much potential to develop her character more and she deserved so much better.
