— *currently unnamed*, Twilight college AU/ rewrite: this story has been forming in my head for like two years, and it’s my goal to finally release it at some point this year, idonno. I’m having a hard time actually writing the chapters even though the story is re-plotted in it’s entirety in my head.

— A Constellation of Lovers, ATLA Sokka/ Zuko fic: this is the cutest, most sickening little love story between my OTP forever, Zuko and Sokka. It’s mainly about how love is difficult to maintain and takes work, and also leans heavily on ideas of relationship anarchy—their friendships are as important as any other relationship. I’ve done quite a bit a work on this one and hit a block about seven months ago so I put it down for a while. But I think I may be ready to work on it some more soon.

— *book one in unnamed fantasy romance series about shifters: this is my main current work; it’s a lesbian/ queer romance with found family, enemies to lovers vibes and a sh*t ton of fantasy worldbuilding. There’s mystery, there’s wholesome character building, there’s smut. This story just simply will not stop taking up all the space in my brain.

—Intressori, a story about a magic college in space, a magic space college: this story (series of stories really) was inspired by a deep hatred for a certain series about a magical place of learning. what’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? I loved that hannibal fic I started writing a year ago which was an apostle (2018) AU but I think I heard someone else had started posting their own AU so I stopped haha

what are your writing strengths? I have no clue tbh, I don’t write enough fic. my strength is really in academic writing, which I will brag and say I’m pretty great at

what are your writing weaknesses? I really struggle to get fics off the ground if they’re of any significant length, which is why I’ve had so many aborted multi-chapter fics over the years

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I think it can add a lot to a story if done well, and I don’t even mind if there’s not a translation. if the tone and meaning gets across or the lack of translation is relevant to the POV then I’m cool with it

These are various different ships and friendships, I’ve tried to keep a little variety, though almost all of them are canon era (there are only a few that aren’t) 😁 Non of them are ridiculously graphic in terms of smut, but there may be the occasional small bits and pieces. DO AN ENJOLTAIRE AS MERTHUR AU. GO.

I FORGOT I HAD THIS ASK HOW COULD I IT’S SO GOOD (Okay let me first say AUs in which any of les amis are royalty weird me out since, yknow, monarchy, so let’s assume Enjolras happened to be born the crown prince of Camelot and absolutely hates it and is determined to dissolve the whole notion of a kingdom when he’s supposed to ascend to the throne or something like that)Anyway: 

We all know how the story goes: everyone hates the current king for his ban on magic throughout Camelot. Enter Grantaire, a powerful (though he doesn’t realize it) wizard new to the kingdom who hates the king for the exact same reason, and his son by extension. 

A vengeful witch tries to kill Enjolras. Grantaire saves his life, though he doesn’t understand why at the time. The king makes Grantaire Enjolras’ manservant as a ‘reward’.

They can’t stand each other at first. Grantaire’s never been that well-off, and he’s uncomfortable in a ridiculously lavish place like the castle. He throws snark at Enjolras every time he’s forced to dress him or pull his bath water or whatever. Enjolras, for his part, hates Grantaire’s attitude and snaps back every time he prods, saying things like ‘the size of my bed/stable/army is beyond my control’.

The Great Dragon tells him it’s his destiny to protect Enjolras and stay by his side. ‘Two sides of the same coin’, the Dragon calls them. Grantaire wants to serve Enjolras even less, after that.

Then he starts to notice things. The sparseness of Enjolras’ chambers compared to the other rooms in the castle. Enjolras paying the merchants for far more than their goods cost, then distributing it to the children of the town. His camaraderie with many of Camelot’s knights, yet his disdain towards the ones who talk down on the poor. Arguments that happen between Enjolras and his father behind closed doors while Grantaire stands outside (”No one person should be allowed to decide who lives or dies!” “It’s the way we’ve lived for centuries.” “Then the way we live must be changed. When I become king…”).

Grantaire sees a glimmer of hope through Enjolras. Maybe, just maybe, he’s someone who could change Camelot for the better.

Grantaire stops complaining about having to prepare Enjolras’ breakfast or polish his armour, even after Enjolras says he doesn’t have to. Grantaire tells himself he’s only doing it because it takes no effort with his magic. 

If it were up to Enjolras, he wouldn’t have a manservant, but he can’t bring himself to tell Grantaire to leave. He doesn’t understand why–Grantaire is loud, insufferable, pessimistic, and often shows up late in the morning reeking of the town’s tavern. 

But sometimes Enjolras catches a glimmer in Grantaire’s eyes. When he’s reading, or caring for Enjolras’ horse, or when he’s laughing with the knights on the training grounds. The grass seems to stand up taller where Grantaire walks through it. Enjolras knows that’s a ridiculous notion. 

One day, Camelot is swept up in a mysterious drought that left it with barely any water and food (hint: it was magic). Enjolras steals the food that the king has been hoarding away in the castle stores and distributes it to the people. 

It’s the same day Grantaire realizes he now has two secrets to keep: that he’s a sorcerer, and that he loves Enjolras.

Another day, a great beast which seems impervious to Enjolras and his knights’ attacks (hint: it was magical) knocks Enjolras unconscious on his back. When he comes to, it’s only to see an armourless, weaponless Grantaire standing alone in front of the slain beast. Grantaire’s eyes are golden when he turns around and fixes them on Enjolras. 

It’s strange. He could swear on the life of every citizen in Camelot that Grantaire’s eyes are a deep brown.

“Do you permit it?” Grantaire keeps asking Enjolras. He asks when he wants to leave the castle, or assist one of the knights, or borrow a book. Enjolras tells him he doesn’t need to ask for permission to do anything. Grantaire is his own person, after all. Not that Enjolras could refuse him anyway. Still, Grantaire keeps asking. 

“Do you permit it?” he asks, with a roll of his eyes, when Enjolras asks where he’s going. He’s only going back to his own chambers. Enjolras reddens. 

“Do you permit it?” he asks, shyly, holding a tunic that Enjolras has gifted him for his birthday (which Enjolras went through a lot of trouble to discover). 

“Do you permit it?” he asks, with thinly veiled panic behind his eyes as he holds a letter from his mother with shaking hands. He needs to return to his hometown for a while. Enjolras never wants to see that look on him again.

“Do you permit it?” he asks one day, when he stands beside Enjolras as a dozen archers aim their arrows at him. Enjolras takes his hand and smiles. He wishes they had more time together.

They aren’t shot. As if propelled by an invisible force, all the archers are knocked off their feet and their bows broken. Grantaire holds his free hand towards them. His eyes are golden. It’s all the confession Enjolras needs.

“Do you permit it?” he asks, wanting permission to leave Enjolras’ service. They avoided each other for a week after the incident. Grantaire’s use of magic broke Camelot’s highest law, which Enjolras hates. He doesn’t understand why Grantaire wants to leave. The thought makes his heart clench. 

Enjolras permits it, on the condition that Grantaire stay by his side. It’s not an order, but a plea. No one should be forced to live in the servitude of another, after all, least of all someone like Grantaire.

Grantaire wants the reason for his condition. Enjolras gives it to him in a rush of breath. Grantaire’s eyes go wide.

“Do you permit it?” Grantaire asks, laying a tentative hand on Enjolras’ cheek. 

“Yes,” Enjolras says. Grantaire’s eyes close. Maybe they’re golden. Somehow, when Grantaire’s lips touch his, he can’t bring himself to care.

Grantaire never asks for permission again.

How do you feel about another work being inspired by one of your own? Say, for example, someone is inspired by your fic The Most Important to write a celebrity au merthur fic where (maybe) Merlin (this time) (or, hell, let's go crazy BOTH OF THEM) is(are) completely oblivious to the fact that no one knows he's not straight & dating (maybe co-star this time) Arthur, who everyone also thinks is straight af until one day someone snaps a photo of them kissing goodbye or holding hands or smth intimate like that and then it's all over the news as this big scandal and they're like "???why's everyone freaking out—oh sh i t they didn't kNOW"

How would you feel about that?? Like if someone wrote smth like that and linked your fic in the "Inspired by" section

Rant: Merlin’s “The Mark of Nimueh”

A/N: Now that I’m rewatching Merlin I’m going to be making my analyses in chronological order so you get more accurate analyses with me understanding where the character’s development is. 

Today’s episode is S1 EP3 The Mark of Nimueh. The episode starts with Merlin and Gaius discovering a dead body and attempting to transport it secretively. Gwen comes across them and their wheelbarrow inquiring what they were transporting but Merlin successfully deflects by asking if someone got her flowers, as she is holding a bouquet. She awkwardly laughs and denies it, offering him a purple flower cause purple “suits” him but then states that it’s not that the red top he’s wearing doesn’t suit him...I see you, Gwen. Merlin fans often forget that originally Gwen was crushing on Merlin...but then again, who doesn’t crush on Merlin at some point? 

Anyways the bouquet was for Morgana, who hasn’t been sleeping well lately but Merlin accepts the flower albeit awkwardly. Arthur comes to call for Merlin in an entitled manner...what’s new. Then he looks at Merlin’s flower both bewilderedly and lowkey aggravated. Merlin tells Arthur it’s from Gwen and Arthur ignores it, leaving with the same nonchalant and (entitled) tone. I can think of 3 possible reasons for this A. Arthur is pissed that Merlin apparently has time to pick flowers but not to be on time for his work. B. Arthur is wondering who the flower is from or for C. Arthur is judging Merlin, a male, for having a flower in his clothing, cause of a wonderful (not) thing called gender roles. Personally I believe all of those options are just as likely.

There is a deathly sickness in Camelot that is supposedly magic, the same sickness found in the dead body that Gwen and Merlin flirted over before. Uther orders Arthur to find the sorcerer responsible. Uther seems more concerned with how his street cred will be affected by the sickness than the fact that people are DYING. Arthur is searching Gauis’s things as well as most of Camelot for magical artifacts and Merlin has to find a way to hide his magic book. He  hides it thanks to Arthur calling Merlin over to pettily remark about the disorderly state of his room. Which to me proves that Arthur is both a b*** and doesn’t really view Merlin as a threat because he trusts him. Arthur is required to search Camelot so it’s not personal. 

Gaius discovers the disease is spread through water so Merlin goes to collect samples. Gwen’s father has been stricken by the disease and she goes rushing to Gaius. Merlin once again has to face the decision of using his magic for good and surviving in a society averse to magic. Eventually, Merlin’s value for human life wins out and he breaks curfew to successfully cure Gwen’s father. Arthur searches Gwen’s home finding it suspicious how  Gwen’s father is the only one to recover from the sickness and that Gwen was present. He discovers a magical artifact and Gwen is arrested much to Morgana’s anger. This no doubt adds on to Morgana’s distaste for Camelot and its laws hearing that her servant/friend is being sentenced. Arthur and Morgana try to reason with Uther but Uther is horrible so. It doesn’t work. Merlin comes to see Gwen, it doesn’t go unappreciated and Gwen asks Merlin to remember her.

 Merlin confesses to using magic to save Gwen’s father and is ALMOST ARRESTED in her place. Arthur IMMEDIATELY jumps to Merlin’s defense (unlike when he arrested Gwen might I add) and insists that Merlin can NOT be a sorcerer and that Merlin saved his life. Even creating a cover-up saying that Merlin has a mental illness but then realizing that’s not much better-given history’s spotty history with mental illness-and stating that Merlin is just in love with Gwen. He’s trying so hard to look not upset at it, it’s sad. Don’t worry Arthur his real soulmate is you. Kilgarrah- the dragon guy in case you’re new here- told Merlin that he needs Arthur “his other half” to help defeat the creature responsible for the disease. With Morgana as company, Arthur and Merlin successfully defeat the creature, just a typical date night.

In conclusion: To me, the standout Merthur moments of this episode are Arthur’s supposed jealousy, his protectiveness over Merlin, his trust in Merlin, and the fact that Arthur and Merlin are referred to two halves of a whole (both emotionally and in uniting Albion). Although Arthur is still an entitled piece of sh**, as one might say, and he still vastly underestimates Merlin, he still cares about him.
