hello liv! i finally read Such Great Hights by aideomai (and thereby finished all her works yay!), this was the first time i read a drarry relationship like that and now i'm intrigued, do you know any other stories that have their dynamic?

i don't mean enemies to lovers, or fuck buddies to lovers, i just mean drarry fucking while also kinda fucking other people but not really while also not liking each other while also just being friends while also being in love with each other while also being quiet possessive while also bantering like an old married couple while also not being good at emotions

Hello friend, always lovely to hear from you! I adore to see other people’s thoughts on Aideomai’s works, especially on this fic - it has such unique characterization and dynamics, it’s really hard to find something similar. I think you described the Drarry dynamics perfectly by the way, I love how aideomai is able to craft those casual-but-not relationships so organically!

I do love the idea of them experimenting with their sexuality and falling in love while fucking other people in a healing/comfort mechanism to deal with trauma - I wish I had similar fics to rec, but I haven’t really come across anything like that yet. One series that comes to mind is Headway (orphaned) with Drarry + Harry/Ron/Hermione, very different in characterization but I think it also delivers a compelling emotional journey and complex relationships underneath a light and playful tone. I hope you enjoy it!

I know I'm being evil bbuuuttt just a question - can you rank lal, sgh and oc in order of which you love the most to least? Or maybe between Kimber, Romee and Suzy? And why?

this is literally the MOST evil because i genuinely don’t think i can choose between them! i’ve thought about this a lot, but i love them all and they all mean a lot to me for all different reasons. 

i absolutely love writing kimber and her relationship with harry because writing them two is so easy breezy and i love the whole line of work/general aesthetic of her character and her friends, but i guess personality wise she is probably the one i relate to the least so maybe that might count for something. she’s a pretty organised person who knows what she wants and how to get it, though she sometimes is blinded by love, and is just a generally fun and lighthearted gal who is easy to write. she’s the character i want to write when i’m in a good mood, unless it’s more of a angsty scene.

suzy is... complicated. she’s probably next easiest for me to write because girl can be smart and straight to the point at times, but she is also a bit insecure and unsure of herself at times and that can be harder to write. i think that part of her, as well as being in a manipulative relationship yet being blinded by love, is something i can relate to quite a lot and so getting into her head is not something i struggle with much. i can be pretty much in any mood with suzy because the fic has a lot of ups and downs so i think i’ve also got all bases covered haha! but also above all else... suzy has been in my mind a lot longer than the other two characters so i guess she does have a special place in my heart.

then romee. ohhhh my precious romee. she is hands down the most difficult for me to write, but she is also the most complex (other than mimi, tbh). girl used to be so full of life and confident and knew exactly where her life was heading, but now? she’s the polar opposite and it’s the depressive and anxious mindset that makes it awfully hard for me to write because, while obviously not struggling with mental health in quite the same capacity or at least reasoning in the first place as romee, it’s very uhhh hard hitting for me because i personally am doing much better now, so it can be a bit difficult to go back to getting into that mindset to write. that being said, i do absolutely love romee and her story, and it is one that i am determined to finish so bad! lal is definitely the next fic i want to give a makeover to and i’ve already got a few ~changes in mind.

so uhhh this did not answer your question at all, sorry! but i guess there’s some insight as to why i love them all and can relate to them all for different reasons

hank's "i think he just wants to be alone" and the way he's obviously the one who goes out of his way to include dean in halloween plans & he's not teasing him as much/tagging along when dermott does and how he picks up on things in the halloween special and all through s5 and dean saying how hank always has good points in momma's boys & how hank is the one who is able to cheer him up in that episode and in the devil's grip & how he notices these things and he picks up on them but he gives dean space but also makes sure he knows he isnt alone and is included in things and how his dad has the same approach and how he writes dean as his "baby brother" in from the ladle to the grave & how they love each other more than anything and wahhhhh T_T

oh poor SGH. relegated to the backburner until further notice. 

2: What scene did you first put down?

hmm i write in order so the first scene i wrote is the first scene of the whole thing, with dex and jack in the office at the rink. but one of the first scenes i thought of was from the second chapter, where shitty and lardo get scared by the little kids trick-or-treating. one of my fave scenes i’ve ever written. the idea of shitty being concerned by nonbinary boilermakers while wearing wonderwoman underwear (which i found out after exist in canon) is something that makes me laugh every time i read it, also shitty yelling “how many fathers has he figured!” when discovering jack’s knack for dealing with children. 

5: What part was hardest to write?

the whole thing is incredibly difficult to write, actually, because of the constantly changing POVs and inner voices and sense of humour. but in general in my writing i have suuuuch a hard time writing dialogue-heavy scenes -- not because i think i’m bad at dialogue, just because i have a hard time not being too repetitive and boring with the non-dialogue parts. sgh in particular has a lot of jokes that rely on timing and dialogue and that sitcom-y back-and-forth that’s hard to pin down. how to be clear on what’s going on without giving too much away is a big part of the humour. 

7: Where did the title come from?

oh haha i guess it’s important to mention i didn’t just pull “samwell gentlemen’s hockey” out of my ass. a lot of men’s beer leagues are called gentlemen’s hockey. my dad actually runs the one where i grew up, which is how i got inspired. they’re usually for men aged 35+ or 40+ (though in a scrape my dad has been known to call up some younger dudes and teenagers to fill sports when they need them). so sgh was just a natural play on samwell men’s hockey.
