[Horizon Forbidden West / Burnin Shores SPOILERS]

So, I have some thoughts after finishing the DLC.

Ngl, I felt that lesbian vibe around Aloy, and I'm psyched that the creators just went for it, made a lesbian main character, because that's dope. I kinda figured it would lead there when Tilda revealed she and Lis were lovers. It makes sense.

That said, even though Seyka is amazing and super pretty, she feels like Aloy 2.0 - all badass and tough and leadery and outcasty. (Also not quite my type.)

I feel like Aloy, whatever the gender of her chosen partner (bi exists, I'm proof), would find more comfort (and more growth) with someone more contrasting to her personality. Someone softer.

But that's me. Like I said, I simply have thoughts and now I'm sharing them.

The result of playing Burning Shores is that I feel weird shipping her with Erend now xD. So maybe I will end up writing a fic. But I think I might make an OC for him instead of trying to explain away Seyka. (Or just ship him with Kotallo :P) I'm not a fan of 'delete the wife' approach, I like when things make sense and don't require me twisting 'reality' (canon) around my views (too much :P).

But I still love all the shippy content (I think Aloy would be great with Erend in different circumstances), so I'm pretty sure I won't mind reblogging the hell out of it :D And if someone wrote a dope Ereloy fic, I'll gladly read and enjoy. (A hint for you to absolutely drop some links in the comments, pls <3.)

My wishlist for part 3:

-VAST SILVER still being around, joining the fight against Nemesis and becoming best buds with Erend (brought to you by this one datapoint)

-Seyka joining Aloy at The Base

-SEYLOY REUNION HUG/KISS

-Erend listing off everyone who would be disappointed now that the Savior of Meridian is taken (to Seyka’s amusement it’s a pretty long list, the only one Aloy was even aware of was Avad cause of, like, the whole rebound thing)

-Beta gaining more confidence, Aloy teaching her how to hunt. More Aloy and Beta bonding in general and more of Aloy getting used to being an older sister (with some help from Alva and Seyka)

-Beta and her imposing 100-pounds-soaking-wet frame trying to intimidate Seyka

-VARL JR I WANT TO SEE VARL JR

-Zo earning Sona’s respect cause she’s a badass

-Teb the stitcher coming back as a permanent store at The Base that gets all of the cool gear near endgame so I don’t have to run around every fucking settlement tryna figure out who has the good shit

-Teersa meeting GAIA

-Morlund and Gildun becoming friends cause they’re both nerds, complete with side quest. And huge dangerous machines. Like idk mega thunderjaws or regular fireclaws or some shit

-LONGLEGS AS MOUNTS COME ON GAME PEOPLE RIDE OSTRICHES IN REAL LIFE LET ME RIDE A LONGLEG I WANT TO RIDE THE GIANT ROBOT CHICKEN

-CYAN and Aloy’s former werak (plus Ikrie and Inatut) joining up, no one is even surprised to hear Aloy was also a Banuk chieftain. Focus for Aratak

-Erend, Kotallo, Beta, Alva and Seyka listening to Aratak tell stories (extremely exaggerated stories in Aloy’s opinion) about Aloy’s exploits in The Cut

-CYAN and GAIA becoming AI friends

-Aratak, Sona and Hekarro meeting. That sounds like a party

every now and then when I remember how frustrated I was during my first playthrough of hfw

[the stressful fight with all the stupid noise and aloy yelling about what i was already doing my best but failing to do bc skill issue the drowning or alternatively glitching into out of bounds while doing my best to avoid drowning/or getting stuck in a crack between some rocks bc idk game design I guess the weird pacing and genre change that could have used some improvement the random spoiler-y voice lines in unexpected places (tilda mention before ever being introduced to her by name and in person as a potential ally) just.. so much I've blocked out but sometimes it comes back and I get annoyed all over again. I'm sure those vent posts can be found somewhere buried in my tumblr archive]

but what they did do was give us more time with some old faves (Talanah, Petra) as well as just so much more potential for ships (Alva, Beta, Milu, Zo, Yarra, Regalla, Tilda as well as a bunch of more minor characters from side quests like Silga or Kivva (my beloved))

and I do cherish that. like. I was so fucking sad when I finished Petra's quest and instead of being able to check in with her all I got was dialogue with the boring dude right next to her. LET HER FLIRT WITH ALOY I STG anyway. similar with Talanah, you can check in but at a certain point that's all it is. and sure it's not too different with hfw but at least there's more women overall so it feels less shite as a whole.

could they have done better and let Zo be badass without making her the token pregnant woman representing fertility in the face of her partner and Aloy's loyal sidekick dying? YEAH could they maybe have made Tilda more interesting, I wish bc I'm just not too invested in her, it seemed kinda cookie-cutter hung up on your ex and seeking connection through her clone in a real weird and gross way, but that could just be me not vibing.

also they definitely fucked over Talanah, she deserved better. Amadis should at least have been his comic-canonically hot-af self instead of whatever basic ass dude we got. I'm so disappointed. when it comes to guys I have one type (who I prob still wouldn't date but they are ever so beautiful) and that's raggedy handsome lad with dark, longer hair and a scraggly beard and they ruined him also hello she's clearly at least bi, come on Guerrilla Games.

oh well. all this rambling just to say that I'm glad hfw has more *WOMEN* who are also badass and hot and very capable in a multitude of different ways. and I love that for them (and Aloy)

still pretty homophobic and not very gg of GG to not let me play some lite version of Burning Shores on my PS4 pro. fuck me for wanting to look at Seyka more, I guess. who, btw, also deserved better than what they made her. she had so much potential and I wish she got to be who she could have been. I love her and I wanted more quality time with her.

For the 100th time… bi people exist, Aloy is canon queer not canon Lesbian (yet!), if that changes in Horizon 3 then fair enough but nothing has been confirmed yet. All we know is that she’s not straight (which was obvious from the get go lol) or ace. Please stop erasing bi people from these discussions 😅

first of all, me thinking aloy is a lesbian and you being bisexual has nothing to do with my post about wanting seyka to be aloy’s only romantic partner in h3. aloy very well could be bisexual, but she has rejected or shrugged off every other person’s (man or woman) advances in the series so far.

i don’t want half baked optional romances. i want the writers to stick to what they’ve done in fw with the very light role playing, only having us choose aloy’s approach rather than her actual decisions. before seyka, i wanted aloy to be ace or at least to remain a single badass woman through to the end of the series. the romance with seyka surprised me but it developed so naturally in the MAIN quests of the dlc that it would feel lame in the next game to have a group of characters that become optional side quest romances. especially since that would mean seyka getting pushed into a side quest romance too. then it really would feel like they put a gay relationship the dlc just so it could be easily written off in the next game if not received well.

giving aloy optional romances in the next game with the established companions that aloy would’ve chose by now if she actually wanted them, would do nothing for the story as a whole at this point. aloy’s inexperienced but not stupid. she can tell who’s shown attraction for her.

aloy not ending up with errand, nil, avad, or kotalo the way you wanted is not bi erasure because aloy has yet to be confirmed bi just as she’s yet to be a confirmed lesbian. also how come straight until proven otherwise is so overlooked but when a lesbian wants to assume the opposite they’re doing something wrong??? there’s a reason you felt the need to remain anonymous, and i don’t think anyone needs me to spell it out. (fine, i’ll do it, your take is weird&self-serving)
