FINALLY! DOLLYA CONCEPT

I'll have a little look back and remember how I came up with this current Sona design. The me of 2021 definitely would look at this and go "WTF???". When I search and place old drawings side by side for comparison, It's really been a process of changing my perspective on myself and constantly finding what I want.

It'll be very random and full of my old drawings, so if you don't mind a little rambling, welcome to go under the cut and go back in time with me!

Let's start with this design. As you can clearly see it was based on how I actually look irl, from the outfit, hairstyle to make-up.

Tbf this was not my first attempt to create a Sona, but it was a huge milestone because it's 2018, the year I got into my dream Art university and left home. My style completely changed, and this Sona showed it perfectly.

I drew this with my fingers, on my broken phone, to enter a Vietnamese clothes design competition, where we modernized some traditional clothes. What I did here is a modernized Nhật Bình. I won and got my design made into real clothes and sent to me. I'm still proud of it to this day XD

It was fun! I draw her almost daily, like how I do with Lya and Lyah in this blog. I used her to make friends with other artists. I even created a gender-bent version for her : D

But the uni life was stressful, especially when I entered my third year and tried to escape my parents' grasp. They were furious and threatened me, I started working extra and do commission to pay for my own living and rent, lessons were hard, and homework and projects were pilling,... As a result, I often use my sona to stress draw.

It didn't help much, my anxieties and insecurities kept adding to the molten fire inside me, and my overthinking got worse day by day.

But then at some point, I decided to separate myself from that sona. She turned into one of my many OCs, maybe more special but I no longer see my entire self in her anymore.

I have to thank my two besties for that. They pulled me out of my darkest moments and stayed with me. They remain to be my only two most important people in this whole world.

I started to "reuse" the sona appearance into creating many other OCs for many other fandoms I joined (Cookierun, HnK, FGO, KnY, Genshin,...). I had fun jumping between different styles lol.

The idea for the current design started to take shape when one day I drew her wearing a white delicate dress (I usually just do red) and a see-through sleep dress I just bought.

Something started clicking.

Then I became an assistant for an Ero Artist. Yup. I started to be exposed to more "sexy" character designs and tbh I just love those. I love drawing female characters already, but there's something something about cute and sexy girls in lingerie... If you know what I mean.

The design slowly became clearer. Cute and pristine-white, see-through lingerie, with little four petals flowers, and little bows, perfect.

The details still varied. They depended on the style I was using or my mood, whether I wanted to go into details or not. That's the fun of drawing your own design, let's keep it.

And here we are~ Maybe it's still not final, but I'm happy with it, and that's enough for me now!

(G)-IDLE. The group that always has bold concepts, each song made with an idea and a goal. The group that aims to prove Talents over Visuals to change the KPOP industry. Time and time again they prove it successfully. The group that started 4th gen. There's Soyeon the leader and producer who has been making songs for for (G)-IDLE long before they were even a group, Minnie who is considered the Siren voice of KPOP, Miyeon who is known as the princess of the group, Soojin who is considered the mom of the group, Yuqi who is known as Giant Dog Yuqi and the most social one, and Shuhua who is known as the boss baby of the group. But what about the 7th member?

The 7th member who caught the public’s eye from debut. She was recognized for her dancing skills and participating on a certain survival show. On this survival show it's where she met Soyeon and became close to her since not only did they come from the same building but they became closer on the show. She always had a certain vibe of sexiness to her since she debuted. If they weren't talking about her dancing they were talking about her Vocals. She had a sensual voice and it seemed to fit any concept no matter the song she was singing, but when she spoke her voice sounded more on the deeper side but not like Yuqi's. The complete opposite can be said when she raps. Her voice sounds deep and not sensual but more like a certain Dreamcatcher member.

The 7th member who revealed she can speak multiple languages. Despite being Korean she didn't become fluent in it til she was 16. Her first language is Chinese because she is not just Korean but also Chinese. She was shy as a kid so she often taught herself other languages as a way to pass time. She grew up in Wuhan, China despite being born in Busan. She moved to New Zealand with her sisters for 2 years which is where she learned English. She moved back to China due to home sickness. She can Speak Chinese, Korean, English, Japanese, Spanish, Thai, Vietnamese, and French fluently.

The 7th member whose older sister is a famous actress who has starred in multiple K dramas, C dramas, ad movies. Her other older sister is known as TWICE'S 10th member. Her cousin is no other than BlackPink's Jennie on her mom's side.

The 7th member who is close friends with AESPA'S Karina. The 2 girls would be seen together at award shows, coffee shops, or just hanging out. The 2 would also promote each other's groups as well as be in each other's Instagram comments. It seems as though the girls aren't as close as they once were since they no longer will be seen together in public, rarely comment on each other's posts, and only smile at the other at award shows.

The 7th member who was asked who's her ideal type of guy and she instead answered with. “you mean my ideal Person because guy makes it sound like only one person when its not just guys I love.”

The 7th member who once made cupcakes for each of the members when they debuted along with little notes on how proud she is of them.

Genuinely how Hoshie is written in Atom: The Beginning is so infinitely frustrating. She's a character that really barely appears in the original series and had no backstory other than her role as Umatarō's wife and Tobio/Atom's mother, and I was so excited to learn she was in ATB. Or was until I actually read it. In ATB, she's very largely only there to appear a few times as his love interest and has really no reasoning FOR feeling that way nor any character traits outside of that. I'm still before the time skip chapter wise (and have some hope she will get more development after that time skip), but to ME to take a character that is that underdeveloped and you have an opportunity to really add a lot in there and don't? It sucks. It focuses so much more on the other characters that really do not have as much importance in the long run of the series (mostly original characters) and a lot of how the women are handled in ATB can be really rough a lot of the time (Ran as the exception, she's great, but it feels a lot of them are just there to be sexy set pieces. The way that they hyper sexualized Pink's traditional Vietnamese outfit is one of the worse examples of this (as you could write off the "sexy robot girls from Lab 1" thing as criticism of it, but in that case there really isn't much excuse to bring in) and while I'm glad it's not as prominent w Hoshie (because they quite literally draw her as a child and then have her show up later having gone through puberty, so thankfully they didn't get bad with it), it is still so bad. Like why do we have this character that is instrumental to the source material (as he said he based ATB as a sequel to Chronicles of Atom, where she is very important for that one volume and for Atom as a character after he is sold to the circus) and very not developed and all that is done w her is on par with how Naruto tried to develop romantic relationships (girl is in one sided love with the male protagonist and barely appears). You could have done so much, and so much that could have really helped develop the relationship in the future and helped flesh her out as her own characters with her own interests. She had a personality in the original and here, it is just being blushy and fawning over the protagonist and it is genuinely kind of insufferable.

happy sleepover Saturday!! How’s your week been? Have you cooked anything good lately? (I’ve been very into making banh bot chien - frozen radish cakes fried w egg and soy sauce and garlic, ideal late night meal) and a sleepover question: if you were a weapon, what would u be?

ough banh bot chien sound lovely -- i would love at some point to be able to try more vietnamese cuisine, especially more homestyle stuff rather than just like. restaurant pho (although i do love a bowl of pho it must be said)

i haven't had a lot of time or ingredients to cook with recently but tonight i made a big pot of cheesy pasta with sausage and zucchini (adapted from this; sub chorizo for beef, "mexican" cheese blend for the cheddar, and extra zucchini). i shared some with a girl in my dorm and stuck three leftovers containers in the freezer so i can enjoy something a little more wholesome than instant noodles after my rehearsals this week, and i'm looking forward to that!

week has been decent; really long, but then when isn't a week long for me, lol. such is the way when i have three nights a week with rehearsals/classes that end after 9pm. but i got confirmation that i don't have to re-audition for grad school, and i got a research grant opportunity forwarded to me that i'm working on an application for now. and even though it's a little bit of a pain to go all the way to my teacher's place for a lesson, my lesson on thursday went well (plus i got a bagel and a boba tea out of the trip lol) and a great set of rehearsals that evening too. and a tour of the kennedy center yesterday which was amazing :)

i think i'd be a bow and arrow tbh. i like being able to keep a safe distance from Situations, plus it's one of the only weapons i have any real experience with, and also they're sexy. runner up would be spearthrower/atlatl; those things are cool as hell. deceptively simple

chella mann and brian michael smith i already know and love - brian michael smith is on a show i watch 911: Lone Star, it's kinda mid compared to the main show but I do love his character - and I didn't know Kizzy Edgell is trans, I love them as Darcy on Heartstopper so much!!! I also knew there were a few trans actors on the new gossip girl (Zion Moreno is a faceclaim for an OC of mine!) so idk how I missed Jordan but he's got an amazing face omg I'm in love with his aesthetic.

The other two are great and going in my "faceclaims to use for your OCs" file immediately but I can't use them in ASOIAF, I think they both suffer from "I've Held An Iphone And Sent A Text" face ya know.
