Mortician Yuuri

Yuuri’s day generally begins at six when his alarm goes off and he stumbles out of his bedroom to take his toy poodle out into his backyard to do his business. Vicchan moves kind of slow these days, but the vet assures Yuuri he’s in fine health other than the beginnings of cataracts in his eyes, and Yuuri always sits in the chair by their fire pit while Vicchan sniffs, pees, and wanders.

By the time this is over, his roommate and brother-except-in-blood has begun breakfast, and Yuuri brings Vicchan back inside as he showers and gets dressed. It’d be nice if he could be less formal, but funeral home employees always cater to a certain aesthetic. Besides, he’s a highly trained professional. He’s proud to look the part.

He can tell what kind of day Phichit is in for depending on the breakfast made: primarily web-based clients mean the joke congee they aways keep available. In person therapy sessions that come to Phichit’s in home office, for some reason, require him to carb load. On those days the Belgian waffle maker comes out. When he has a balance between the two or not many sessions in general, he makes Yuuri’s favorite omurice.

Today is a waffle day, Yuuri notes as he smells the batter once he arrives in their kitchen.

Phichit has already made him a plate and he passes him a spray can of Redi-Whip. “Thanks,” Yuuri replies. He loosens his light blue tie and digs in, Vicchan curling at his feet.

Phichit sits across from him. He’s in a t-shirt that reproduces the original Broadway poster for The King and the Skater, his favorite musical, and a pair of green pants covered in anime-styled hamsters. He keeps three live ones in his office that he lets clients cuddle with as a form of stress relief or stimulation. “Ugh,” Phichit says after a big bite of waffle with orange marmalade. “I have THEM today.”

Yuuri sips his orange juice. He knows who THEM refers to, and stays silent because---

“Honestly, I’ve never in my life dealt with people who are so difficult---”

Ah yes. There he goes.

“Like I keep trying to point out to them that like...a separation might make more sense, because they won’t compromise,” Phichit grouses. “When one person wants polyamory and the other flips out from jealousy, like...cut and run, you know?”

“I don’t,” Yuuri deadpans. “But sure.”

He realizes too late what he’s done.

Phichit’s gray eyes focus on him like a spotlight. “And you---” he says with a point of his waffle-laden fork. “When are you going to put yourself out there again?”

Yuuri sighs. “When people stop acting like I’m going to fill them with formaldehyde and use them as practice for measuring caskets.”

“I mean, that means you’re making bad choices, to be honest,” Phichit says.

Yuuri grinds his jaw. Why can’t he ever not be a sex therapist and instead just be his friend?

“Turn it off, please,” Yuuri says.

“It is off,” Phichit retorts.

Yuuri rolls his eyes. A black card on the table catches his notice---it’s the super super hot man’s card from Starbucks the day before. He looks at it---Victor Nikiforov (that’s amusing given Vicchan’s name), followed by a mobile number, a corporate email, and an address presumably for his company.

“I mean---” Yuuri says. “I sort of...this guy.” He passes Phichit the card.

Phichit looks it over. “Hm, bold design choices for a business card. He was sexy, at least? And nice? Clearly there’s some kind of interest.”

Yuuri thinks back to inhumanly blue eyes and silver hair, which given their city could be natural or not. “He’s...pretty. He was friendly. Said if I call him he’ll buy my drink next time.”

Phichit raises an eyebrow. “Call him. Today. Go out with him. Tonight. And then....marriage, kids, old age, and death.”

“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves,” Yuuri says. “He’ll be like all the others.”

Phichit frowns, and his eyes look hurt. “Yuuri, you don’t know until it comes up. Let him decide for himself, okay? Don’t pass on a good thing because of a maybe.”

Yuuri puts the card in the pocket lining his blazer. “Yeah.”

Phichit clears the plates and begins the dishes---since he sets his own hours, Yuuri handles dinner and its clean up most nights as a trade. “Have a good day at work, dear! Don’t be home late!” Phichit tells Yuuri in a weird half-mimickry of Mrs. Cunningham from Happy Days.

“Sure, babe,” Yuuri replies drolly as he grabs his keys and walks to the garage. Phichit primarily drives a Vespa, since their city is well-equipped with public transit, but Yuuri’s black and eggplant hearse takes up most of their single-car space. The license tag reads KATSUKI 4 and he starts the engine.

He does the morning coffee run for his folks and older sister, all of which comprise the Yu-Topia funeral home with him to round it out. When it’s his turn at the Starbucks register, Leo grins at him. “Hey Yuuri! The usual?”

“Yeah, thanks,” Yuuri says with a smile as he puts a five-dollar bill in their tip jar. Leo rings up a grande green tea latte for his mom, a dry cappucino for his dad, a venti Pike Place black for Mari, and the Dragon Frappucino for himself.

He reaches into his pocket for his cellphone to get his stars on their app when an elegant pale hand bedecked in almost-black red polish rests on his phone and fingers. “It’s on me,” a slightly familiar voice says.

Yuuri jumps and stares wide-eyed at Hot Victor From Yesterday. “Uh---no, no, really, I can’t----”

“You can and will,” Victor chimes in cheerfully. “Hey can you add a Venti Pink Drink to his order? And it’s all one check, I’ll take care of it.”

Leo looks at Yuuri and then back at Victor. “Sure can,” he says with this weird grin that Yuuri thinks might be shit-eating in nature.

“I told you, the next one was one me,” Victor says as he leans close enough to almost kiss. Which Yuuri would like very much thus resulting in him wondering if he can embalm himself. Because definitely he is going to die from this. “I was really hoping to see you again, so I decided not to leave it to chance.”

He inserts his credit card into the chip reader---it’s an Amex Black.

Actually---everything touching this guy is black. He has on this expensive looking black jacket with velvet lapels that goes to almost his knees, a high-end looking black shirt made of a material that casts a slight sheen, and black trousers that are perfectly tailored. It’s not quite unseasonably too warm for the outfit, but it’s close.

He’s so cheery, though, with his perfect white smile and his obscenely pastel fruit drinks.

“Thank you,” Yuuri manages with a shy smile. “Um...I guess...I owe you.”

“No, not at all,” Victor says. “Hm or...rather...you can repay me at a less hectic time. With...lunch? There’s a nice cafe two blocks from my office that has really good poke bowls.”

Yuuri loves poke bowls. Not as much as katsudon, but he loves them. “Uh---well...sure?”

Victor lights up even more. “Amazing! I usually take my break around one...so come my way then, if you can, or if not we can do it tomorrow---”

They have a wake today, Yuuri knows, but it’s not until four. The rest of his morning is mostly paperwork. It’s Mari’s day to handle the meetings with families of the recently deceased. “Okay. I’ll be there between one and a quarter after.”

Victor grins. “Perfect.” Yuuri grabs his tray, Victor his cup, and they part ways. Yuuri drives to the Yu-Topia Funeral Home as Flo’s Ceremonials sounds through the driver’s area, and he feels oddly happy for the first time in a while.

Maybe Phichit is right and Victor’s different.

i can’t write, i say as i write 8 pages on Word

I discussed this simple little idea i had with @adelmortescryche from 2AM to 5AM and now it’s not a little idea. A lot of ideas thrown mostly randomly together on the same fic idea i will never write cause i write baaaad.

I call it : EdRi!!! On Para-Ice

- When Yuuri arrives at Wayne State to major in buisness and become a pro skater, he meets the four people with who he's going to share lodging.

- Ling is his age, he's a Xingian diplomat son that want to keep it low-key, and he's majoring in political science. He's a funny, eccentric kind of guy, and he makes Lan Fan mad.

- Lan Fan is « totally not » his body guard, and she's majoring in chemistry. She's a strange blend of calm and hot-temper. He likes her.

- There's also Phichit, ; he's younger, but so nice and enthusiastic ; he wants to do photography. (he's Thai and doesn't speaks much english, but everyone helps him and stick colored notes cards to everything and he learns quickly).

- And there's Edward Curtis, who is half cyborg, hot tempered, foul mouthed and full of shit and loyalty. He's younger than him, but more advanced than him in his studies. (« He's a genius », explains Lan Fan.) They got on like a house on fire.

- Strangely, even if they're so different from each other, they share the apartment fine. Lan Fan and Ed go run in the mornings, Ling cooks, Yuuri and Phichit go to the ice ring... They fit.

- Ed is a bit hyperactive, and when Lan Fan is too occupied to spar with him, he gotta finds something to do. (« No Ed, you can't punch people in the face. ») He visits Yuuri and Phichit at the ice ring, and he tries a bit of skating ; it's challenging, he likes it.

- Yuuri starts to teach him simple figures : a single-toe-loop, a sit-spin... Ed spend his time falling on his face because the automails are destabilizing him, but he's tired and happy when he masters a new move. From there, you can't stop him. Skating becomes the escape to his problems, and the guilt he feels.

- He comes to every of Yuuri's event to cheer him on ; he manage the panic attacks like it's nobody's buisness, and Yuuri starts to feel more confident. It's great time, they have fun.

- But one day, there's an accident ; the huge score board fall on Yuuri that just finished his routine. They have to amputate his arm.

- Ed has lived this before, and acts quick. He's there through everything, the hospital ride, the hospital stay, the therapy. With the others, he persuades Yuuri to get an automail (« Hey, we match now. ») He never let him wallow in his depression, and he puts him back on his skates with his therapist acceptance.

- They fight, with all the others, through Yuuri's terror of the ice, and slowly, slowly, he finds back his love for the ice ; he starts to skate again, to being confident. Ed does it all with him, he's his crutch. (« I miss two limbs. If i can do it, you can do it better. » And Yuuri does.)

(beware of the cut)

- "dude you can fucking make a quint and fly on the ice " says Yuuri "dont care still jealous" answer Ed, and they laugh and Phichit posts it on instagram

- Yuuri's like, welp, if you can do it, I should at least try and everyone screams NO because he's older than Ed. Except Ed, who's rolling his eyes being like, he could totally do it, he's older than me and just as flexible.

- They're both ULTRA flexible

- Cue Ed teaching Yuuri how to make some of his fighting moves on ice

- Cue Yuuri teaching Ed more quads

- All those EdRi comments. The first few are just fujoshi slobbering over them and their bromance, then someone who actually knows something about skating figures out what they're seeing and they sCREAM.

- And the skating fandom has a meltdown.

- Phichit posting out of context photos, like warming up when they're in weird yoga poses, and it seems a bit more intimate than it is.

- With tags like '#MySmolSonsBeFlexi' '#MustNotLetEdSeeTagsHeWillSlayMe'

- Phichit and all the others being DEADLY TIRED than his frighteningly prodigious friends not getting recognition just because they've got automail.

- Doesn't people realise that automail makes it harder ?

- “It's easier with automail ?” * Ed proceeds to detach his own arm and dump it on the stupid fuck's lap who crumble under the weight. * “Try lifting something that weight more than yourself higher than your head, and even spin with something ressembling grace when you have a brick instead of an arm”.

- Pole dancing class as part of the automail recovery therapy. Yuuri smiles, and he's like, this was totally for medical reasons.

- The ports gets cold and hurt when they're too long in the ice ring, so for when they train Phichit knitted them horrible arm socks (and leg sock for Ed). Knitting is not Phichit forte, and the mitts are ridiculous at best.

- Yuuri's favorite is a kaki monstruosity with purple polka dots, orange stripes, and some brown squiggles that are supposed to be flowers.

- Ed's are one atomic pink with red hearts on it, and a blue one with barely recognisable hamsters.

- The photos of them with it become viral.

- He decides to go back to competing, and he slays the handisport section. He wins all of the gold medals in the juniors, and then in the seniors.

- He's got a new coach ; she's pretty, kind and maternal, attentive to his anxieties and the fact that Ed is basically is contra-phobic object ; she's perfect, and exactly what he needs. Her name is Gracia Hugues.

- For his galas, he always do something with Ed (and either they do funny shit things, either they some mind-numbing show of skills mixing Ed's talents in flying martial arts and Yuuri's adaptability- anyways they're breathtaking)

- There's a fanbase dedied to their bromance, and some people do RPF with them.

- Ed browsing deviantart and diying a little bit (but save the nice, bro, safe ones on his phone.)

- Yuuri reading fanfictions, selecting the crack fics and the AUs to laugh with Ed, Phichit and Lin. (and Lan Fan. She's there, silently laughing)

- They're so much more low key about the bromance than Phichit and Yuuri that people have a lot more opinions about their bromance. And are sure it's a romance.

- Yuuri obviously finds it hilarious.

- Ed and Yuuri doing shit like this on purpose.

- One day on tv, some jackass ask if he doesn't miss his limbs, and Ed answers "thats equivalent exchange" while looking at Yuuri. The shippers goes mad, Yuuri goes awww cause he knows Ed meant it very innocently

- They only pop up in Phichit, Ling, and Yuri social medias because they dont take vids themselves or photos and even less post them

- One day, there's an hORRIBLE rant made by a dude that says that Ed and Yuuri are lucky to have found the other because who would want any of those disgusting cripples

- and they're a bit hurt but not much because they told themselves the same thing since they got their accidents

- But Phichit sees red. He takes THE photo.

- the one after the showers after practice, where you can see skin, soft scars, glinting metal, muscles and cloth making it SFW, and no comment under it like he use to.

- It broke twitter

- (Yuri totally roasted the guy that DARED insult his idol.)

- Roy Mustang is an ex-man-single prodigy. He was adored by the public. When he retired, he decided he wanted to go into Amestrian politics (ie, the Army).

- He's the one that presented his old buddy from the army, Maes, to Gracia. (people all around the world whined when they announced that it was Maes marrying Gracia and not him.)

- Roy isn't sure if he's happy for both his friends because Maes became 1000% more annoying after meeting Gracia. (That's a lie, he loves them both and is more than happy.)

- When he became a state alchemist, his fans where like “fire alchemy ??? U SURE ?”

- Yuri Plisetesky is a die-hard Yuuri Katsuki fan, and he finds it unfair that

1. no same sex couple on the ice, and it sucks because those two could do some pretty awesome shit

2. Ed doesn't compete because not enough money and he don't care much for the competition ; he's there for the fun and for Yuuri

3. he'd love to skate on the same ice as Yuuri but, eh, handi sections and mainstream ones doesn't mix. He hates the federation so much.

4. no one knows about the handi athletes apart of Yuri and Otabek (because he whines at him) and he finds it the most irritating thing in the world, it's a TRAVESTY.

- And just, one day, he goes to Yuuri's ice ring, and he watches him, film him for future reference and manage to catch on film a *quad axel*.

- And the regular skaters, they're like "wait what" when they see the video of the first quad axel in history

- "but we don't know that guy"

- and Yuri goes in a screaming rant about how they're all stupid, it's “FUCKING YUURI KATSUKI YOU HEATHENS HOW DARE YOU FORGET HIM HE COULD HAVE BEEN THE BEST RIVAL FOR GOLD IF NOT FOR THAT ACCIDENT HE HAD TO LEAVE MAINSTREAM SKATING AND NOW YOU DON'T EVEN REMEMBER HIM?!”

- And one day, Viktor, dense fridge that he is, find irl EdRi doing some figures in a public ice ring. He goes to Yuuri, says something like you skate nice, have you considered going pro, and ed punches him because the dunce doesn’t remember sharing the ice with Yuuri

- "I was too fucking kind i should have decked him with the metal one"

- Yuuri is nrgh between "he punched Viktor" and "am i that forgettable"

- Yuuri's also like Ed No Ed Stahp. While smiling happily because spiteful savage Yuuri. Who doesn't want Victor to get hurt, but he forgot.

- "We said no punching, Ed"

- ”Ed we talked about this.”

- ZE discussion they have all the time ; "Can i punch that dick in the dick" "No u cant"

- And he can only punch people if Yuuri is okay with it because everyone deem that if Yuuri thinks a dude deserve to be punched then he deserves it.

- If Yuuri thinks it's time to punch someone then it's time. Yuuri's everyone's moral compass. Except he isn't a good moral compass, because sometimes he's sassy and spiteful.

- Yuuri with really long hair after he stopped mainstream mens singles.

- First he was too depressed to cut it, then he realized it's easier for the automail. The hair gets stuck less in the joints and if they're long you can take them out easier.

- Phichit doing artistic© photos of tanned light hair Ed and pale dark hair Yuuri and destroying Instagram

- Al and Ed have been apart since they were 8 and 10 and they had the failed transmutation that left Al in a coma for 3 years with nearly no memories of his brother, and Ed without limbs.

- They went to different foster families ; Ed with Izumi and Sig, Al with the Rockbell. And Al doesn't remember Ed much, only what Pinako told him (he loved you more than anything, he was persuaded the accident is his fault)

- Olivia Armstrong is Ed social worker. The whole Briggs team work in social services.

- Ed refusing to search for his bro cause he's sure Al hates him, and, sure, Ed hates himself but not to the point of subjecting himself to that.

- Yuuri comforting him when he has nightmares about it, not saying a thing when Ed cries at night cause he misses Al.

- Phichit stalking the whole internet to update Ed on how Al is doing.

- Al being so admirative of E.Curtis works in "Alchemy Actual". Pinako wince in the background.

- Al finds it hard to connect E. Curtis to his brother because E. Curtis is notoriously secretive. No one knows anything about him.

- Al doesn't watch ice-skating, and isn't much a fan of phichit-chu. And no matter how many times he falls on a video of Edward C. he can't connect either of them to his brother. Pinako's starting to wonder if he's ever going to realise Ed-on-screen and Ed-the-alchemist is Ed his brother. She shighs in exasperation and wonder why he's so dense.

- May being Ling's pint sized badass little sister (one of many but his favorite even if loves giving her shit)

- May is irritating and wonderful and god he wishes he could introduce her to Al.

- May find Al by herself and is like “... most beautiful boy i've ever seen in my entire life omg”

- She posts photo of her and him on insta, and Phichit send them to Ed, he becomes crazy.

- Al being in a perpetual state of “Wait what” concerning her.

- “Beautiful girl came out of no where to talk to me and flirt with me and take pictures with me what'

- She starts talking alkahestry and suddenly he doesn't register her pretty face anymore she's clever who cares about pretty I can talk about alchemy with her !!!

- May finds him adorable

- Cue budding romance while their big brothers are having aneurisms on the side. Yuuri, Phichit and Lan Fan finds it hilarious.

- And at LEAST Ling can interact with his sister and NOW AL but ED REFUSES and he is sad and frustrated so he goes skating cause he has too much energy and "you can't punch people for the lolz Ed"

- Yuuri just sighs and pats him on the back while Ed screams at the sky and goes throwing quads all over the place.

- So frustrated he tries a quint toe loop, but "not a quad axel, i'm stupid but not dumb, only quadsuki can do that"

- Ed having super nice automail that Yuuri offered him with the skating money ("look, we match !", he says, a twinkle in his eyes, echoeing what Ed told him a few years ago.)

- Since Ed doesn't want to see the Rockbell and has a « 0 interaction » policy, Yuuri found that guy that lives in a remote part of Australia that does incredible machinery. They go once a year with the gang.

- Ed considering himself « toxic » to those he loves. Lan Fan decked him in the gut, Ling rolled his eyes so hard it had to be inscribed in a book of records, and Phichit insulted him in Thai. He tried this bullshit with Yuuri exactly once and never did it again.

- Mari straight up hit him with a pan. She reminds Ed of Izumi.("My foster mom hits me with her pan, too.")

- Following that sentence, people start to be suspicious about his foster mom, until they figure out Izumi and Ed love each other. Their love is just... violently displayed. And filled with martial art montages.

- Izumi and Sig already have a biological son when they adopt Ed. Aoi is totaly enamored with his « big brother »

- They adopted another child, a little girl named Nina. Her dad tried to kill her, and as of such she's sick. Her and Al are the reason he started studying organic alchemy in more depth.

- Envy is Ed biological punk rock but so nice older half-brother. He's androgynous and loves confusing people. ("Are you a girl or a boy ?" "no.")

- Envy avoids Al cause he feels guilty too. He felt he shoud have been there for his two lil bro, no matter how angry with their dad he was.

- When Ed and Envy gloom together, Lin/Phichit/Yuuri/Lan Fan comes to hit them and like "no we love you yes we said love shut up, up, we going petting rabbits"

- Hiroko, Izumi and Minako being BFFs and drinking together. It terrifies everyone. They comiserate about their spawns.

- Izumi's kid is in awe of Mari (as he should)

- EdxAngst + Yuuri/coming-to-terms-with-his-anxiety

- "Where did your... special style of skating came from, Mister Curtis ? *behind, a video extract where Ed is doing a double backflip on the ice, before launching into some capoara moves while Yuuri smiles and just cartwheels for the lolz*"

- Roy calling Ed “a backflipping maniac”

- Cuts to Ed doing a triple back flip and a single hand cartwheel or something right after. Just to see the expression on Roy's face.

- Roy having ten cardiac arrest a day. Riza laugh in the distance. (She laughs at his pain all the time)

- "Curtis, when your in an ice ring you spend more time in the air than on the ice, it's not natural"

- One of Phichit most liked photos is one of Yuuri and Ed twirling Elicia around

- Even if Ed isn't an official competitor, he has die hard fans, that calls themselves « Ed's Homunculi », and they're led by 5 people that nicknamed themselves with the primary sins.

- Yuuri snickers at just their mention. Ed complains all the time. (« NO FUCK LET ME GO IM NOT EVEN A PRO DONT PuT YOUR BOOBS IN MY FACE DONT EAT MY HAIR WTF. Why are you all so DISTURBING »)

- Envy founded the fanclub because he finds this deadly funny, now he’s mostly in charge of the social medias. Ed is horrified.

- Scar is married to Lust and follows her everywhere, to every competition sighing all the time.

- THE PRESIDENT OF HIS FANCLUB IS THE FUCKING FURHER OF AMESTRIS

- The idea of Amestris’s Furher being enamored enough with Ed's skating to give himself a stupid nickname kills all of his friends of laughter inside

- Aerugo is near greece

- Xing is in east asia

- Creta is near italia

- Drachma is between finland and sweden

- Amestris between germany and poland, and Ishval between poland and Austria

- Father couldn't arrange another full country array, and eventually decided to let it go.

- Envy's real name is Nichola Elric

- Lust is Veda Campos

- Wrath is King Bradley

- Pride is still Selim Bradley

- Gluttony is named Emilio Abatucci

- Scar is Luca Campos

- Izumi’s kid is named Aoi Curtis

Yuuri’s always dealt with a lot of (pun not intentional) grief about the family business, so much so he’s given up on making many friends or finding romance.

But during one morning Starbucks rush, he meets a light-haired, blue-eyed man in dark colors and manicured nails who just might prove him wrong that no one will be able to get past his job.

TL;DR the Victuuri (loosely based on Six Feet Under) Yuuri is a Mortician and Funeral Director while Victor is the Respectable Start Up CEO Goth who loves him. With friendly assists from Phichit Chulanont, licensed Sex Therapist.

Final Museum Thoughts

I’m gonna share my overall thoughts on the museum, its audio guides, and the contents/goods here, so slip behind the cut if you want to be spoiled, otherwise keep on scrolling!

@shigacajun and I finally completed our Yuri!!! on MUSEUM experience today! We went six times in total: five times to complete the stamps, and the a sixth and final time to enjoy the secret audio guide only available once you'd finished all five.

We split our experience into two visits. On Visit 1, we listened to:

- Victor/Yuuri: Cute, but not nearly as enjoyable as I might have liked, as Yuuri was very, very drunk the entire time and Victor was left to apologize on Yuuri's behalf for his behavior. Not my favorite setup, but still cute for what it was worth. - Yuuri/Yurio: Another cute one; Yuuri was very magnanimous and complimented Yurio on his performance a lot, and Yurio was a brat, as it should be XD - JJ/Yurio: I had very low expectations of this, but I was pleasantly surprised! This was probably one of my overall favorites! It was HILARIOUS, with such LOL lines like, "Apologize to Canada!" from Yurio to JJ for what Yurio claimed was JJ embarrassing his homeland time and time again with this OTT self XD; He also took to breaking JJ's fingers every time JJ broke out into his Theme Song (which was a lot). They were a fun pair to listen to, unexpectedly XD

On Visit 2, we listened to:

- Chris/Victor: This was...wow. Never leave these two alone together. They did nothing but egg each other on, until by the end of the audio guide, Chris was literally pole dancing with a Makkachin tissue box (let it be known he did this AT VICTOR'S BEHEST) and being quite sexually explicit with it, culminating in a cry of, "Makkachin! I'm coming...!!" We were quite scarred by the whole experience and decided to cleanse ourselves with... - Yuuri/Phichit: THIS WAS SO CUTE. For as scarring as Chris and Victor were, Yuuri and Phichit were just having pure, cinnamon roll fun. There was quite a bit of Phichit teasing Yuuri good-naturedly about his rings and running around going "HAPPY WEDDING!" while Yuuri flailed embarrassedly in the background and tried to get him to pipe down. My skin was clear, my crops flourished once more.

AND FINALLY...THE "SECRET" TRACK:

- Victor/Victor: Yes, it was a tale of two Victors. And I suppose I should say it was seme!Victor/uke!Victor--aka a very soft, silky-voiced seductive Victor sharing a track with a happy-go-lucky "WOW! AMAZING!" heart-mouth Victor. Most of their tracks were pretty innocuous...until Track 4, wherein they trade lines back and forth: "Daisuki!" (a cutesy 'I love you'), "Dakishimetai" (I want to hug you), "Zutto issho ni itai" (I want to be with you forever), "Kiss shitai" (I want to kiss you), "Daita ato no nukumori wasurerarenai" (I can't forget the warmth left after embracing you [and it should be noted that the verb here is also the one used to mean 'sleeping with you/having sex with you']--and since it was the 'seme!Victor' saying this line, you were SUPPOSED to take it that way) and finally "Aishiteru" (a very powerful and deep and meaningful "I love you", not to be thrown around casually). After these lines, though, came: ".......Makkachin" "Makkachin" "Makkachin!" "Makkachin...!!" Yes, Victor was throwing around words like "I want to kiss you" and "I can't forget the warmth of embracing you" and the version of "I love you" that husbands even have trouble telling their wives because it's so 'heavy'.........to his dang dog. EXCEPT YOU KNOW THAT WE THE LISTENERS WERE SUPPOSED TO THINK HE WAS SAYING THESE THINGS TO YUURI, AND WHILE VICTOR LOVES BOTH HIS FIANCE AND HIS DOG AND MANY ASPECTS OF THAT LOVE OVERLAP, THERE ARE *SOME PARTS* THAT SHOULDN'T OVERLAP.

And that's why I have to kinkshame the greatest figure skater in the world, sorry. Just what has to happen.

So despite the second round of audio guides being more misses than hits, lol, it was really fun. The costumes were amazing to view up close, as were the original images drawn for the event. In addition, some time between our first visit and our second today, the staff added ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS to all of the audio guides (even the secret one). These translations weren't PERFECT, but in actual grammar and in content (for example, Chris' line of "僕のスケートじゃ、ヴィクトルを本気にさせられないってわけか。" was translated to "So there's no chance of my skating turning Victor on, huh..." [when it's more accurately "So there's no chance of my skating getting Victor to be serious, huh."]), but they were definitely more than good and accurate enough to be enjoyed by non-Japanese-speaking visitors.

If you're in Tokyo at any point this week, or if you're visiting Nagoya soon (since the Museum will be going there next) and your Japanese isn't really up to keeping up with these audio guides, I encourage you to ask for a script ("台本・だいほん" is the word), as the staff are happy to provide you one. They asked us if we wanted the English translations (which have both the original Japanese and the English underneath it), but I'm not sure if there are other translations as well.

As for goods/merch, unfortunately the museum ran out of many popular goods quickly--including pretty much all of the scrunchies. Thankfully, though, EVERYTHING could be ordered! So you might have to wait a few weeks to get some of it (or longer, lol), but even if you weren't able to get the goods you wanted immediately, you could fill out an order form, pay for it there, and have it delivered to you later. This was how we managed to buy the Duetto scrunchies and the sold-out Victuri acrylic charm.

All in all, the museum was quite a fun experience, and while some of it was more than a little cringe-worthy (Victor and Chris...you both need to see a therapist about your feelings for Makkachin...), it was all really fun XD

Victor glances around, and Yuuri does too, despite knowing what he'll see - people being dragged to dance, to get in a picture, pulled over to share a story - and well, knowing that it's not just him that finds it all rather exhausting helps Yuuri feel a bit more at ease.

"Don't worry, I'll do my best to hide you," he jokes.

Comment: Cute AU vicyuu with a banquet-esque scenario. Fluff without plot, honestly, but not a bad read.

2. Man's Best Friend (Is a Creature of Nightmares) by DontTrustLoserCandy || Rated T, 7.2k

Victor is twelve when he meets his wonderful, amazing, unique little red-eyed puppy and future best friend, Makkachin.

Makkachin, who might or might not be the spawn of the forces of darkness, a hellhound or maybe just canine Satan, feels the same. Of that, Victor is sure. Still, raising a dog comes with its own set of troubles, especially when said dog drinks blood for breakfast and her barks sound like breaking glass.

And especially when you're keeping her hidden from your parents.

Comment: I LOVE HORRORTERROR MAKKACHIN and this fic does it excellently. A great mix of humour and seriousness in general, with a side of ghostly little Vicchan and All of Victor’s Terrified Religious Neighbors.

3. My Boy Builds Coffins by ken_ichijouji (dommific) || Rated T, 4.9k (WIP)

Yuuri's always dealt with a lot of (pun not intentional) grief about the family business, so much so he's given up on making many friends or finding romance pretty much in any capacity.

But during one morning Starbucks rush, he meets a light-haired, blue-eyed man in dark colors and manicured nails who just might prove him wrong that no one will be able to get past his job.

Comment: An unusual au that fits quite well with vicyuu that’s super hecking cute, the cutest of what I’ve read today. It works really well for them, and I look forward to future installments :D

I absolutely adore this one. There is a quiet and mature tone to it (even though it’s started off by a weird witch lecturing Victor). And the decriptions are so good it felt as though I was there with them. I read the first paragraph and I knew that this was going to be good.

Until My Feet Bleed and My Heart Aches

Already a fandom classic, this is a monster of a fic that really handles it’s characters with love. Nothing feels unmotivated and the descriptions are so good it’s crazy. The rivalry is handled beautifully and it exceeded my expectations by a large margin. Emotions done right and very engaging(!). Worth a long and rewarding read.

Constellations (Things You Left Unsaid)

Just as cute and light-hearted as it seems. Phichit is an absolute darling in this and I’ve fallen so hard for Yuuri as a bookworm. Reading this was like the fic equivalent to sipping a pina colada at the beach. Like taking a vacation. Truly lovely.

This fic is (almost) entirely in the style of a groupchat. It’s messy, the author is overly self indulgent and it’s often kind of inconsistent but at times so brilliantly funny it makes the flaws pale in comparison. I’ve been up laughing late at night just because I couldn’t stop reading.

I’ll Give You My Heart

In a fragmented and poetic way this story is heartaching. Heartbreaking even. It follows the canon storyline somewhat (Victor is Yuuris coach etc) within this very interesting take on soulmates. One of the first fics I subscribed to on aou, which says something, doesn’t it? Over all wonderful and it’s definitely one of my favourites.

My headcanon is that Yuuri is somewhere on the ace scale and I really enjoy when I find someone with the same idea?

In which Yuuri learns to live with Death over his shoulder. I love the premise and its wonderfully executed. It feels ancient it feels real and the descriptions is sometimes so wellwritten its absolutely crazy.

Strawberry Bubblegum

Cuties! Lovelies! This is basically a collection of sweet, amazing, wonderful romcom cliches. They have a playful pillowfight (that grows intense u kno what i mean), Hiroko embarrases Yuuri with baby pictures. Heck, they even go go disney world! Toothrotting.

Looking for Courage

The clueless Yuuri, the hopeless romantic Victor. The pacing is great and I love love love Chris (and Phichit) in this one!

I went into this fic having no idea what kimi no na wa even was and boy am I glad I did. I finished this in record time. Intriguing, exciting, action-packed.

This authors worldbuilding is really freaking cool! Some influences from things like ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’ mixed with a dystopian future such as ‘the Hunger Games’ (the civilians clothing and luxiurious customs) with a sci-fi setting. If you, like me, are a sucker for stuff like this (starcrossed lovers with talk of galaxies) it’s pretty awesome.
