OKAY...I finally unpicked the whole thing and turned it into something else! I made a plumeria top from paradise patterns. I love how it turned out!

The fabric is a geometric embroidered voile from Mood (ordered online over a year ago). I love the texture of the fabric and how it lays in this pattern. I'm wearing it here with a badly faded pair of Adams Pants from Daughter Judy.

I'd love to try making a dress version of this top, but I'll have to think through how.

WIP FAIL

This is a modified Rachel Comey pattern, and while the pattern was beautiful, and I love this embroidered cotton voile from Mood, but this is not a style of dress that looks good on me. I am going to try and rework it into a shirt. wish me luck!

Some (reverse order!) progress photos of the trim for my newest underskirt. I am Exceptionally Pleased with how the little box pleats came out with this spacing-- they remind me of little violets! Special nod to @historicalsewing - this was inspired by the ribbon trims class that is available through her website. 2nd part of my Zelda WIPs! This time it's the blouse 🤗 it will probably turn into 4 posts total, maybe 5 counting the wig. Once again, I'm still a sewing beginner, so I hope this is helpful to fellow beginners. Please ask questions! Pattern of Zelda's research outfit by @maridah I'm using size M but I had to take in the shoulders/back! . Basic assembling wasn't hard, but everything difficult and new started right after that 😅 First of all, one thing I found with the pattern in general: it includes a really good tutorial but that doesn't always explain explicitly enough what goes where or that a step will be repeated. It also does not include tutorials for things, people familiar with sewing would know like darts, decorative stitching, or bias tape. In regards to that, I was lucky enough that I could always ask @sadi_roma for advice when I was stuck. Problems included that I didn't know that basically any kind of top closes the lining at the bottom first. I almost cried when I kept sewing it closed at the wrong part... 😅 I also had my difficulties doing decorative stitching, as I'm bad at sewing slowly and carefully, but I think it turned out fine? I love the poplin I chose and it was thin enough to just trace the pattern through the fabric with a pencil! The collar was less trouble than I expected and I was lucky enough to find plastic buttons that you can wrap in the fabric that you are using 🤗 Biggest trouble in the end were the cuffs where I really couldn't figure out the tutorial (zip somehow went well!). But @sadi_roma showed me a method, so I could do it the easiest way🥰 And I learned that I will never ever use satin as bias tape again... . So, that's it for the 2nd part!
