this is for an audience of one person (me) but ok listen in Old English you often pronounce a g as a y sound. This fucks me up sometimes in German because I learned Old English before I moved to Austria, and sometimes I pronounce something like gefahren "yehfahren" like a fucking idiot from 10th century Mercia.

Smash cut to Formula 1 car racing. Zoom in on Max Verstappen, who speaks a particular dialect of Dutch. Watch him pronounce a G in Dutch. He doesn't. You know why? Baby, that's just a good 10th century Mercian G. I am being hunted down by linguists as we speak.
