Ummm who wants to read about Sevika and Viktor getting drunk and ranting about their woes?
Zaun’s Worst Drinking Buddies
(Rated T, 1596 words, no romantic pairings, just platonic buddies)
0 drinks in.
Sevika: Sober.
Viktor: Sober.
These meetings weren’t something they did often. Viktor’s health was piss-poor enough without flooding his liver in booze, and Sevika’s responsibilities as Silco’s right-hand-woman made it near-impossible to plan ahead. However, even the sickest and busiest Zaunites needed to blow off steam every now and again.
That’s why they met at the Bridgeside Tavern to drink.
“Piltover still treating you like shit?” Sevika grunted as Viktor sunk heavily into a barstool, dropping his crutch to lean against the counter.
Viktor leveled her with a tired stare. Dark circles lined his eyes – they were more pronounced than the circles he’d had the last time they drank together. In a weary sigh, he replied, “When they care to notice me, yes. Is your employer still treating you like a one-woman clean-up crew?”
Sevika laughed bitterly. “No change there. Wait ‘till I tell you about the mess his kid made this time.”
The conversation paused long enough for Viktor to order a pint from the barkeep. While the scientist watched his drink get poured, Sevika swirled her own glass of frothy, amber fluid.
Viktor’s drink was served.
Glasses clinked in a toast.
The unlikely drinking buddies tipped their heads back and chugged their first round.
. . .
One drink in.
Sevika: Mostly sober.
Viktor: Beginning to feel tipsy.
“Politics?” Sevika echoed, raising an eyebrow as she waited for Viktor to announce that he’d been joking.
“I wish I were joking,” Viktor said, dolefully acknowledging the frivolity of his news. “But, yes – Jayce is doing politics now. He accepted an assignment to the Council, who’ve given him free reign over border security.”
Sevika’s eyes narrowed. “So when they shut down travel across the bridge –”
“That was Jayce,” Viktor confirmed.
Sevika swirled the dregs of liquid at the bottom of her glass. “Well, fuck,” she exclaimed. “What kind of political experience does he have?”
“None.”
“Then why –”
“Councilor Heimerdinger wanted a scientist to be in charge of Hextech’s security.”
“The Yordle councilor? Isn’t he a scientist too?”
“Yes.” As Sevika’s mouth dropped open with a follow-up question, Viktor interrupted, “Don’t ask me why Heimerdinger didn’t take charge himself.” Viktor slumped heavily against the counter, propped onto his elbows. “I have no idea.”
Sevika huffed. “Now that I think about it,” she said, “the problem I’m having with the boss right now is related to the issue with your partner. Don’t go telling anyone, but it was the boss’s kid whole stole that Hextech gemstone and got Piltover all keyed up over security.” Sevika raised a hand to catch the barkeep’s attention. “But I’m gonna need another drink before I tell you about that.”
. . .
Two drinks in.
Sevika: Beginning to feel tipsy.
Viktor: Very tipsy.
“… And what does Silco do when he finds out that Jinx killed all those enforcers for a magic rock?” Sevika paused for emphasis. “He drops the strategy we’ve been building on for years and decides we’re going to threaten Topside with the stolen tech!” Slamming a fist against the counter, Sevika fumed, “We had a plan! And now we could lose everything because he let his kid run wild!”
“He –” Viktor hiccupped, then had a brief coughing fit, raising an uncoordinated hand to half-cover his mouth. “He at least grounded her, surely?” he rasped.
“Huh. That’d be the day.” Sevika glared down at her fist. “He gave her a quick scolding for show, then let her off the hook. She’s probably building a new bomb as we speak.”
Viktor’s brow furrowed. “That’s… concerning. With Hextech’s power, she could create some very destructive weapons.” He frowned at an empty glass, pursing his lips in thought. “At least we’ll be safe for a little while until she figures out how Hextech works.”
“She’ll crack it sooner than you think,” Sevika warned. “Jinx is a nuisance, but she’s clever.” A snort slipped from Sevika’s lips. “You’d think someone as smart as her could learn some sense.”
With a defeated sigh, Viktor replied, “I think we’d both have much fewer problems if the people in our lives applied their intelligence to being sensible.”
“Hear, hear.”
. . .
Three drinks in.
Sevika: Tipsy.
Viktor: Drunk.
“He’s always with the Council,” Viktor groused, his accent slurring as he took another drink. A few drops of stout plopped onto his vest. “He hardy visits the lab anymore – it’s like he’s forgotten our work entirely!”
Sevika huffed, swirling her own drink with a loathing grimace. “I know how that feels. Back in the early days, Silco used to help out with the dirty work around town. He’s not present anymore, not since he dedicated half his time to raising a teenage serial killer!”
“And while they’re busy,” Viktor groused, “We’re left to keep – cough, cough! – to keep their dreams on track!”
“The dream of Zaun,” Sevika said wistfully.
“The dream of Hec – hic – Hextech,” Viktor slurred.
Sevika’s face curled in an irate snarl. “I swear, Silco’s gonna let that kid blow his dreams to smithereens one of these days. And he’ll probably take her out for ice cream after.”
With an expression of misery not unlike that of a spurned lover, Viktor rested his head on one arm and mumbled, “It’d be nice if Jayce took me out for ice cream.”
“Huh?”
“He might sit down long enough for me to tell him about my new Hextech ideas…” Viktor squinted at his reflection in a beer glass. In a soft, self-reflective murmur, he mused, “should I invite Jayce out for ice cream?”
Sevika stared at Viktor uncomprehendingly for a long moment. “I think I’m gonna need another drink for whatever you’re saying to make sense.”
. . .
Four drinks in.
Sevika: Almost drunk.
Viktor: Plastered.
“Sometimes I think, ‘Maybe I can keep this shamble from falling apart if I just keep pulling all the weight,’ but you know what? I get tired!”
“So tired…” Viktor coughed weakly, his head cradled in the crook of his elbow.
“How can they expect us to keep doing all the work on our own?” Sevika announced, gesturing wildly with her mechanical arm. Consequentially, an empty glass was smacked off the counter and shattered against the floor.
“I can barely stand on my own,” Viktor groaned.
“How could anyone stand under the weight we’re carrying?” Sevika shook her head. “And for all the slack we pick up, do we get an ounce of recognition? No! Never!”
“Everyone recognizes Jayce.” Viktor tucked his face further into his elbow. “He’s on posters. I bet… hic… I bet people give him free ice cream…”
“We’re the ones who deserve free ice cream,” Sevika seethed coldly.
“Hmmm…” Viktor’s eyes drifted shut. “Could make a Hextech ice cream maker… Wouldn’t share it with Jacye. Not unless he helped me make it.”
Sevika’s fist tightened around another empty beer glass. “When Zaun is free from Piltover,” she declared, “I’ll fill these streets with ice cream shops. And I’ll tell them all to charge Silco double.” Turning to the barkeep, Sevika shouted, “Hey – do you guys make floats?”
. . .
Five drinks in.
Sevika: Drunk.
Viktor: Unconscious.
“Hrrng,” Viktor moaned unintelligibly as he drooled on the countertop. As his face shifted against the polished wood, the ice-cream moustache from his recently finished ice cream float smeared everywhere.
Sevika, who sported a matching ice cream moustache, couldn’t stop the unsteady laugh that bubbled up from her chest. “I’m done kidding myself!” She picked up her latest glass, not realizing it was empty, and began raising it to her mouth. Before it had crossed half the intended distance, the glass slipped from Sevika’s fingers and shattered on the floor. “We’re all doomed!” Sevika proclaimed, promptly forgetting her dropped glassware. “I’m doomed! You’re doomed! Zaun’s doomed! Piltover’s doomed!” Sevika spun on her barstool and began pointing to the few patrons who’d been brave enough to sit anywhere near her. “You’re doomed!” Sevika shouted at a random woman. “And you’re doomed! And you’re doomed! And you’re –”
It was at this point that a very brave (but exceedingly trembly) barback approached the ranting woman.
“Um… Excuse me, ma’am…”
Sevika’s raving cut off. She looked the barback up and down, a grimace curling over her face as she took in his pathetic shaking. “Oh, you’re definitely doomed,” she said. “The Jinx-pocalypse is gonna eat you alive.”
The barback swallowed. “Uh – if you say so. But, um, I just wanted to let you know  - well – we’ve got to cut you and your friend off for the night. Um… Would you like a glass of water before you leave? And…” He glanced at Viktor, who’d begun to snore. “Is… is he alright?”
Sevika snarled. “We don’t need your damn water.” Standing abruptly from her chair, Sevika picked up Viktor by the collar of his shirt and threw him over her shoulder. “C’mon, Vik – let’s go find a better bar. One that isn’t run by buzzkills.”
Viktor replied with a pained groan as Sevika carried him out of the tavern, leaving his crutch forgotten against the counter.
. . .
Meanwhile, on the bridge…
“I think I’m getting the hang of this whole ‘politics’ thing!” Jayce announced proudly.
Silco shot him a baleful glare before rifling through his coat pocket. “No. Your political instinct is abysmal and Piltover is doomed. However, I’ve taken some new photographs of my daughter, and no one at The Last Drop wants to see them. You’re my last resort.”
“Hmmm…” Jace pouted, tapping his chin. “I’ll look at pictures of your kid if you look at this drawing of me with a magic hammer!”
Silco whipped a thick stack of photos from his pocket. “Deal.”

No, because what do you mean Arcane has completely rewritten the rulebook on queer representation in media, and it did it so effortlessly that it puts so many other shows to shame. Like, how are you going to tell me this animated series—ostensibly a spin-off of a video game—has given us some of the most nuanced, unapologetically powerful sapphic characters ever without reducing them to stereotypes, side plots, or, worse, trauma porn?
Vi and Caitlyn? Their dynamic is ELECTRIC. You’ve got Vi, the rough-edged, fiercely loyal, scrappy brawler with a tender side that could wreck anyone emotionally, and Caitlyn, the sharp, principled, deeply empathetic enforcer with a heart of gold. The way their relationship is built on mutual respect and trust while navigating all the insane, tragic chaos around them? Literal chef's kiss. And not once do we get the tired, lazy "coming out" narrative or the "but what about the gays?" rhetoric. Their queerness isn’t the story—it’s just a beautifully natural part of who they are. And THAT is revolutionary.
And let’s not even stop there. This show handles gender like it’s been waiting for everyone else to catch up. Characters like Sevika, who could give you chills with her sheer badassery and gender-nonconforming energy, exist unapologetically without the narrative ever feeling the need to spoon-feed us explanations. It’s just there, woven seamlessly into the fabric of the world.
So many shows claim to want to "normalize" queer relationships or push the envelope, but Arcane has quietly dominated the space by just writing characters who feel authentic. Their struggles are about class, power, loyalty, trauma, not token representation or forced diversity. This show said, “We’re just going to make some of the most layered, compelling characters you’ve ever seen—and oh yeah, some of them are gay. Keep up.”
Like, the bar wasn’t just raised—it was launched into the stratosphere. What do you mean this level of representation isn’t the norm yet? Arcane said, “We’re not asking for permission to exist. We’re just existing.” And that? That is art.

▶[Arcane preference] reacting to you wearing their clothes [Jayce, Viktor, Ekko, Vander, Silco, Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, Mel, Sevika, ]
If you know me, hello little deers, I'm back! If you don’t know me, welcome! Just a heads-up that I don’t use "Y/N," but rather the impersonal "you," and even though I talk about clothes, no sizes or weight are involved. Enjoy the read!
Jayce:
  - It’s not that rare when you’re together; he’s a real gentleman through and through. If it’s cold, he’ll give you his jacket, his scarf, anything to keep you warm
  - But when you’re the one taking his clothes, it’s different
  - When he sees you walking around the room in his shirt, just after waking up, something in his brain malfunctions
  - It’s how it fits you, no matter how big or long it is, it seems like it was made just for you, to give you that look
  - And to him, it feels like some kind of subliminal ad, as if the universe is making you so attractive in the simplicity of that gesture just to tell him he needs to hurry up and put a ring on your finger so he can enjoy that sight every day
  - It’s hard for you to get anything done in the morning when he wakes up with those thoughts
  - Those are the days when you stay in bed, cuddling under the covers, with him looking at you, hand on his cheek, getting more lost in you by the second
Viktor:
  - For Viktor, the idea of a “little thief stealing his clothes” is an interesting one
  - He’s never been a fan of tight-fitting clothes, plus, with his physique, it’s rare for anything to fit snugly anyway
  - That’s why, except for his Academy uniform, the rest of his clothes are comfortable and at least two sizes too big for him, without mentioning Jayce's oversize ones in his closet
  - What Viktor didn’t expect was that, once you started liking them, you’d just take them straight out of his drawer
  - The first time he knocked on your door to ask if you’d seen his shirt —the very one you were wearing— he first stopped, confused, wondering how it had ended up on you
  - And then, though he didn’t show it, he paused to notice with satisfaction how well it wrapped around your body
  - Sometimes he pretends to forget his clothes at your place, just to see them on you, and to get them back with your scent on them
  - For the nights when he feels lonelier
Ekko:
  - Communism
  - There’s not really a strong sense of what belongs to whom at the Tree, although some clothes (jackets in particular) eventually get so personalized that no one dares to take them anymore
  - The first time you grabbed Ekko’s jacket, it was simply because you were freezing, it was really cold, and he was resting, so he didn’t need it
  - But when he saw you wearing it, his pupils dilated so much you could notice it despite his very dark eyes
  - Ever since then, it’s him who gives it to you and insists that you wear it, because he likes it: there’s something extremely intimate and deeply personal about walking around with you in his jacket
  - It’s like marking you as his, but really, also reminding himself of it
  - And Ekko may be proud, but one thing you quickly and painfully learn in the alleys is to say ‘I love you’ before it’s too late, and that small possessive gesture makes him feel fulfilled because it’s like he’s telling everyone that he couldn’t live without you

Vander:
  - Vander’s clothes have this super-secret ability to change depending on who’s wearing them. For example, what are shirts on him turn into dresses on you
  - When you put them on, even just for the sake of convenience, you find yourself laughing in front of every mirror you pass by
  - And if he notices, he can’t help but hug you from behind, leaning down to rub his nose against your neck, smiling against your skin
  - “You know,” he says every single time, “it looks better on you than it does on me,” and no matter how false it might be, in his eyes, it’s truer than almost anything else
  - After seeing you a few times in his grown-up man's clothes, he decided to dig through an old box to find the clothes from when he was younger and mend them before leaving them folded on your side of the bed, like a little gift
Silco:
  - Silco’s strangest habit was the connection he had with his clothes: they looked like Piltover garments, except for the boots and the shirt under the velvet vest, yet they were torn, poorly mended, and worn out in several places
  - Despite being the richest man in the undercity, he never changed them
  - The only newer piece in his wardrobe that he used to wear was his coat, which was in perfect condition, scented with cologne, and lined with soft velvet that followed the direction of your fingers when you touched it
  - Sure, there were ceremonial outfits, pajamas, and something comfortable yet always elegant, but he had worn them so little that they almost didn’t seem like his
  - That’s why one day you simply decided you were bored, and while he was in a meeting, you could take the opportunity to try on the ones that fit you
  - But that little fashion show from his wardrobe to the mirror probably took longer than expected, and definitely you were too focused, because you didn’t notice the tall figure watching you, leaning against the doorframe
  - “Don’t take that off, I’ve got an idea or two,” his voice broke the silence, making you jump
Jinx:
  - Her clothes are more like a flea market than a wardrobe: there are men’s clothes, women’s clothes, from Piltover and Zaun, intact, held together by metal staples, clean, splattered with paint, torn from explosions, some so small you wonder who they could even fit, and some so large that you and at least four of her father’s henchmen could comfortably fit in them with room to spare
  - She’s the one who tells you to grab something from the pile the first time you ask to help her with her calculations and experiments, and in the end, you choose something comfortable rather than something intact or clean
  - It took her a good half hour to notice, and then another hour to stop talking about it
  - It was something she hadn’t done since she had a family, sharing clothes with someone else, and suddenly she realized just how much she missed it
  - Every now and then, she’d give you oversized shirts on purpose, just to disappear under the fabric and snuggle up to you, where she felt sheltered enough to feel less vulnerable
Vi:
  - Vi’s mentality was interesting because, by accident, if she noticed you were eyeing someone’s clothes with interest, somehow the next day those clothes would end up on your bed
  - Vi would do anything for you; if it were up to her, you’d be dressed in pearls and gold, but neither the place nor her situation allowed it
  - That’s why she never offered you her clothes: the older ones were tattered, barely definable as rags, which she stubbornly patched up every month
  - The new ones were stolen, spoils from street fights, but they always came in looking battered and worn, or worse, stained with blood or strange substances, so they weren’t good for you
  - When she saw you wearing a sweater from her wardrobe, stained and burned in spots, the first thing she felt was guilt
  - She hated not being able to treat you the way she wanted to
  - But from that day on, she made sure to at least wash her clothes before putting them away, and slowly she learned to love the clothes you stole a little more than the others
  - That sweater, for example, she would defend it with her life
Caitlyn:
  - Whenever you stayed over at her place, she always made sure to provide everything for you: slippers, socks, pajamas, anything you might need
  - And it was always the highest quality you had ever seen
  - So seeing you in her clothes wasn’t new, although she sometimes liked to have you try on things she didn’t wear anymore, partly because she couldn’t due to her important name, and partly because she spent half her time in uniform
  - Those little fashion shows almost always ended with her on top of you, while you are very busy figuring out how to stay quiet so none of the servants, or worse, her parents, would catch you
  - It didn’t matter if the clothes didn’t suit you, being able to see you in so many different lights made her fall even more in love with everything about you
  - The final blow? One day she decided to look through the enforcers’ uniforms to find one that would fit you, and for the first time, she saw you in clothes that matched hers
  - There was something about it that made her hope that uniform would change the chemistry of your brain too and make you join the force, just so she could spend more time with you, just so she could see you like that more often
Mel:
  - For Mel, it wasn’t an event: she was used to everything, mastering her emotions, and seeing you wearing something of hers had only left her confused for a second, from which she quickly recovered, smiling at you
  - “It looks really good on you, you know?” she had asked
  - It didn’t bother her. Objectively, you seemed stupid borrowing those elegant clothes tailored exactly to her body
  - It almost felt like heresy to wear the clothes of a goddess-like figure. But the goddess had sensed something, and she began buying and commissioning outfits for both you and her, matching, so you wouldn’t feel like you were missing something
  - But there was one moment, a specific one, where seeing you in one of her dresses had left her speechless
  - When you told her that the sweater was so beautiful it was almost a shame knowing she couldn’t wear it on the day you’d marry her
  - And Mel Medarda came from a land of war, where it was hard to get attached to people, let alone objects
  - Yet from that day, that piece of clothing became a constant for her, even if it meant layering or pulling it down to keep her shoulders bare
  - Because it no longer just warmed her skin; it began to warm something deeper, something she hadn’t even realized she had
Sevika:
  - Her clothes reflected her line of work: dirty, unpleasant, dangerous
  - But despite that, she would drape them over you herself, no matter how worn they were: if she thought you might be cold, without a word, you’d find a sweater or hoodie on your shoulders
  - And even though she’d glance at you from the corner of her eye, she wouldn’t stop watching you for a single moment when you wore something of hers
  - It was a matter of homeland—there was no ownership in Zaun, not even last names, as even the family you belonged to was irrelevant compared to what you could do
  - And the gangs, thugs, and troublemakers wouldn’t hesitate to steal what was yours
  - But you were hers, and you couldn’t be stolen. And that shirt was hers, but she didn’t feel mutilated, like she normally would, when you wore it
  - In fact, she loved it, opening her arms to invite you to snuggle up, holding you carefully so the prosthetic wouldn’t bother you, adjusting the clothing on you ten, a hundred times, almost unconsciously
  - And when you wore her clothes, it felt like for a little while, you could wear her skin too, to understand her better, and she suddenly seemed more vulnerable

- Zaunites dying to help Piltover in battle while wearing enforcer uniforms, even though Piltover did nothing to earn it
- Silco, one of the few pro-Zaun/anti-Piltover characters from season 1, reduced into a mouthpiece for "forgiving those who wronged you" and letting go
- Jinx, one of the few anti-Piltover characters, becoming redeemed by sympathizing with Piltovians, being apologetic for killing Councilors, and feeling like she should die to allow her sister to be happy with her enforcer girlfriend
- Vi not having any problem with her Piltovian enforcer girlfriend gassing Zaun, and reduced to kneeling for Caitlyn's pussy in a prison cell, where she was locked for years as a child by an enforcer
- Jayce telling Viktor that his disease was never a weakness to be cured even though the disease was caused by Piltover polluting Zaun
- Ekko never calling out Heimerdinger's failings as a ruler nor Vi for joining the enforcers (even though he does in the game), and also risking all the Firelights' lives to help Piltover
- Sevika not having any lines in Act 3, never interacting with Jinx or reacting to Isha's death, and also risking her life to help Piltover, a decision which was made off screen
