ep 5 ZOOMED by. i do truly truly loathe the ted lasso appletv effect where streaming-only shows don't have standardized episode lengths like it just fucks up the tone for me so much. i remember this was the point in my initial watch in 2022 where i got disillusioned and stopped watching bc i started to see how the characters given priority and interiority at this point are the white ones. like the way alexa and ms casey are treated in this ep kind of pisses me off. still not buying the markhelly crumbs that are starting to be laid like at all. that is a suicidal lesbian and a man grieving his dead husband. crazy that ms casey describes this as her happiest day when she had to deal with dylan's unwanted flirting and mark and helly treating her like a unwanted babysitter like if that combo of sexualization + undermined authority isn't the textbook experience of being an asian woman in a corporate workplace idc what is. so that felt true to life in a way but i also think i'm giving the writing more credit it deserves and also i still hate watching it happen. at least they let her fujo out a little. why is no one talking about cobel calling graner daddy. He’s sitting in a room across from his dead wife. She tells him to sculpt how he feels. He makes a tree. He thought she died in an accident involving a tree. “You think you’re escaping it but you carry it down there. You just don’t know what it is.” or whatever Petey said (Im paraphrasing.) And eventually Mark is going to remember that. Sitting across from the woman he is grieving and just making a tree. The writers just do that and go on about their lives without caring that they’re ruining mine.

rewatching severance s1 and I cannot express enough how good it is but my brain is twisting in knots trying to figure out how s2 is apparently one of the most expensive seasons of television ever produced. they're in an office. a very empty office. what is happening in the next season to suck up all that budget
