Currently writing part 8 of the History of Korean Male Groups. While listening to a diverse collection of new and old Korean and Japanese music, it got me thinking about the music generations of these two countries (mostly Korea), and I think in my opinion have figured out over the corse of Korean music history the "generations" of Korean music as a whole.

I might need to explain a bit more, so my idea makes sense. This is sort of the list or "generations" of Korean music:

*This is my opinion and might not be accurate or right. In my korean history related posts i call them all groups even when they might not be considered groups (this is sort where this list comes in), and I wanted to sort of show how over the corse of 125 years korean has changed (over 1000 might be to long, gonna stick to 125). This link explains the history of kisaeng's in more detail.

From ~11 Century BC (when kisaeng's were first mentioned) - early 20th century (1900s - 1940s) -> This era is known as the traditional Korean music and dance.

From the late 1940s? 1950s - 1970s -> This era is known as the group sound, as Western music and instruments were being used and inspiring many artists after the Korean War, if there were dances they were mostly done by backup dancers not the singers themselves as they wanted to more harmonize if they were a group (Ex. Kim Sisters) and bands they were also known as group sound (Ex. Key Boys & Bluebells).

From the 1980s to early 1990s -> This era is known as boy & girl groups (not kpop yet), dance was slowly being incorporated into singing at the same time but the focus was still on singing and they did still have backup dancers (in some performances) but not as we see today in modern groups (Ex. Sobangcha and Setorae, who are considered the first boy and girl groups). From Settorae to before, Baby VOX are considered girl groups and from SoBangCha to before H.O.T are considered boy groups, because both Baby VOX and H.O.T were the first to use the "kpop" system.

From the 1990s to Now -> This era is known as kpop boy & girl groups (from when Seotaji & Boys debuted in 1992 till now all artists are considered kpop artists/ idols but i think from when the kpop system was first used i think should be where "kpop" started that when H.O.T debuted), this is where dance and singing (including raping) are now fully being used all at once, choreography is not simple like back in the 80s and are now more complicated (to some extent), rap is also being added to (mostly groups and solo rapers) and incorporated into (prety much almost every group, Ex. GFRIEND) modern K-pop acts and is done by both male and female idols. This is also where K-pop itself has its own generations, and those years are confusing to, the years of when a particular generation started and ended can be very confusing and could be inaccurate.

Hello, I am the person that used to promote under the names of Lee Heejung, Lee Jisoo and Lee Gai. I changed my name legally (to Lee Kyung Hee) and I am living well. Nowadays, I'm getting a lot of contact from the broadcast stations and they're even coming to the restaurant that I'm working in, so I'm resting for a while.

My long-time friend told me that there were videos that made fun of me and she got angry on my behalf. I'm really sorry. I'm living knowing that all happenings from the past are my fault. Ever since I fooled the people from our fanclub and the general public, I haven't lived a day peacefully. Now, after 20 plus years, I'm finally talking about it, but during that time, I couldn't talk about it easily.

Seeing my Baby VOX friends standing on the stage very prettily, I also thought about the olden times for a while.

Thank you so much for remembering me, who was always lacking, and relieving me of my resentment and unfairness. If I have a chance to see you later, I'd love to treat you to a bowl of Sik-hye later on.

I'm sorry if my friend, who said my story however she wanted to, hurt you.Since all of this happened because of the ugly and lacking me, please do not blame anyone else or make fun of anyone else, and just hate me instead.

To the person that produced the videos, I felt like you were hurt because of this, and I felt bad, so I commented. Thank you always. You are allowed to make videos in my name and use the older videos too, since I am the sinner here, don't worry about me and thank you for remembering me and or relieving me of my resentment this way.

If by any chance you recognise me on the streets, please tell me that you are thr profucer of the videos, I'd love to treat you to a bowl of Sikhye.

Producer, I am always thinking thankfully for recognizing me and comforting me. Because of you, the general public is hating me less, understanding me more and is giving me encouraging words, I'm crying. The comments are all so warm, that's all because of you, producer. I'm just an ahjumma who made a problem and then disappeared,but you made videos for me and understood why I made these decisions, thank you so much for that. I know I can't be understood and forgiven by everyone, but I'm still thankful for receiving such warm love from everyone thanks to you. I'm sorry for receiving warmth so shamelessly once again. "We fought a lot during Settorae. All of us were young, and we were ambitious to look pretty. When we danced as a group and bumped into each other we fought again, we cried, saying that 'I am better' or 'you are better'. One day we even fought with food. Looking back now, it's funny but I wonder what we were so sad and hateful for, we did fight a lot"

I love how she just dropped some Settorae lore. I would love to ask Miss Kyung Hee more about her time in Settorae, but just knowing that she is alive and well and wrote these comments means so much. 🩷
