"Shadow abilities? Wowee, is there anything you cats don't have or can't do down in these neck of the woods?" She shook her head in seeming disbelief. "Hey, I'll trade you guys for some of your excitement! Let's trade places-you can live in a mansion full of stuffy people and I'll live an interesting life in the forest." Honestly, she wasn't joking. There was only so much of the place she could take.
"Thank you for giving me the time of day, especially since I ran my mouth a bit /too/ much at first." The mention of getting home and the woods had her expression falling a bit. "...Yeah, I should actually probably be heading back now. I might not have the googlies that are out here but there are /things/ in my woods that don't take too kindly to people wandering around after dark. It's funny too-it's almost like the trees and stuff /change/ when the sunsets. But that's just silly, right?"
It had to be. She didn't want to even think that the things she had glimpsed over the walls could even be anything more than her imagination. Unconsciously she swallowed, her eyes going distant as her hand lifted to rub the faint scar on her neck and ward off the sudden feeling of constriction. No, it had to be her mind playing tricks on her. Nothing like that could ever come to existence, even in a place as crazy as Dmitry's woods.
"I’m very similar to him, yes. But I have the shadow abilities…you can think of those as being my ‘ghost’ form." Dvojník nodded. They were all different kinds of undead here, it was very peculiar that none of them were ever quite the same as each other. He wasn’t complaining though. He didn’t mind being dead. It didn’t feel like he was dead, he merely knew that he was. It was strange but…since when had anything been normal there? "I, um…Thank you, miss Ashton."
".We both appreciate the compliments. You’re a very pleasant person too, and I’m glad I had the chance run-in with you while coming home from a supply run." Dmitriy spoke up. "Speaking of home, let me know when you feel it might be time for you to make your way home. I’d be happy to walk you back. I wouldn’t want you ending up lost out there, and the woods do like to get people lost…"

"It is very interesting-and big!" The young woman threw out her hands excitedly, a bright smile on her face. "...Though it could stand to be a littler more lively sometimes." That was an understatement. Despite all the entertainment the grounds seemed to house within its seemingly limitless walls, there always seemed to be a bit of a fog that hung around the place, even on sunny days. It made Ash restless more often than not, though when one was /terrified/ of leaving the woods it sort of limited the entertainment options.
"...Would you like to come see for yourself?" She finally offered, blue eyes settling curiously to where she assumed his were. "It's a real swanky place and I don't think I could ever do it justice through just /talking/ about it." It might even be fun to have a new face to explore the place with! Oh, she hoped he would say yes.
"Oh, sounds interesting." he mused. He had seen a few halfway houses that opened their doors to the lost and hopeless in his time. Some had been in the town where he went to university when he was younger. Then he had seen a few stuffed from wall to wall with poor souls in the rotten decay of towns riddled with the pestilence. Then again, he had seen some in the same towns that were barren and abandoned, the kindness and right of passage forgotten as the weak and needy far surpassed the limitations of one building.
In those days, when the sickness ran rampant and wild feeding off of the masses of unexpecting people. Infecting them and leaching from them until they had nothing, not even hope, to keep them going. Kindness had always been needed, but the only kindness he could have offered were the best of his medical abilities. Which far too often was nothing more than a tease to an inevitable demise.
Although none of them had been in the middle of the woods. But he supposed the woods were a good place to find lost people. Which seemed to be ironically true in his case. “What is it like there?” he asked, tipping his head to the side with a curiosity.

"And it was a treat to do so! Most of the guests up at the manor tend to keep to themselves or they leave as soon as they start to loosen up." That was a frustrating fact about living in a place with revolving doors such as the mansion. Friendships were hard fought and short lived. It'd be nice to have a constant other than the Wesfirths themselves and Gracie.
"Ah? I knew you were a doppelganger but I didn't know you were technically dead as well." Ashton mused, not reacting to the news with anything other than a raised brow. Guess Lodger wasn't kidding when he said that spirits could seem just as solid and normal as alivve folks. Still didn't mean /she/ was one though. "Are you like Mister Cornelius then?"
"Don't try to use that as an excuse either-or attempt to play down your skills! You're a damn good pianist and more importantly, you're a genuinely pleasant person to be around. You and Dmitriy both-I feel extremely luck to have wandered into ya'll's woods!" There was a brief moment of concern with how she was going to get back, though she guessed she'd get to that when she could.
As long as she made it inside the gates before nightfall everything would be fine.
"He’s not completely without musical company. My father sometimes joins in and plays guitar beside him." Dmitriy commented with a slight grin. "But nobody’s quite filled in the role of ‘musical buddy’ quite as well as you, miss Ashton."
"Thank you, I’m not…that good. Besides, ah…my chances of being a professional have passed me by long ago. Being a dead guy is a big road bump, you know…" Dvojník added with a quiet laugh, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Oh, quit being modest, you know you can play circles around most of us." Dmitriy commented with a playful roll of the eyes and a shake of the head.

Oh, wow. He was loud. She's just going to stop right there because anything louder than she was is kind of intimidating. Plus he said he wasn't wearing a costume and if that was true then that would mean he was some sort of machine and she didn't know how to work with machinery. Plunking her hand on her hips, she gave him another proper once over before scrunching up her nose slightly.
"You aren't? Then what are you? Surely you can't be a real robo-man." Well, he could, but Ashton had never heard of such a thing. He certainly was a funny looking chap though, wasn't he? The singer wasn't quite sure how to react to him at all. Hmm.
"What are you doing wandering around Wesfirth Manor, machine man?" Was he lost? A guest? A visitor? Could he even be considered such a thing? There were so many questions she needed answered!
The automaton shifted his pack as he looked back and forth. This forest seemed…foreign. He didn’t feel at place in any forest, but this one seemed to be different somehow from the types he had encountered on the island.
He stepped back in surprise as he heard a voice call out to him, ” WHAT?”
He frowned and looked up at the girl. Halloween? Was that not the human holiday where they dressed up and demanded they give each other sweets?
" NO, I AM NOT GETTING READY FOR HALLOWEEN!", he yelled back.
He gestured at himself, ” I AM NOT WEARING A COSTUME!”

Ashton blinked, lips pursing as if in slight confusion as she looked at him. A real plague doctor? Those hadn't been around for centuries though, right? And what kind of name was 'Shadows'? It sounded more like a moniker than anything, like how she had been called 'Bearcat Baby Doll'. But Shadows was a much cooler one. Still, the man hadn't given her any reason to believe that he was lying, so maybe he had just gotten lucky with a cool last name! Or first name. Whichever it was.
"Pleasure to meet you, Doctor Shadows! Guess your name is just as nifty as your outfit.." She remarked as a smile returned to her face, choosing to just roll with it and move on. Besides he had asked her a question, and if there had been one thing beat into her mind by her dear old Granny it was to answer when someone asked you something.
"Wesfirth Manor? It's a..." A pause as she tried to think of the best way to describe it, one hand slowly gesturing in a circle as if it could help her conjure words. "...halfway house for lost souls, I suppose you could say. People with rough or confusing patches in their lives tend to gravitate towards the building and rent out rooms until they find themselves again and move on. It's a huge place smack dab in the middle of the woods. You were bound to run into it if you kept heading the way you were heading."
"I am Doctor Shadows. And I am, indeed, a plague doctor." he explained in a regal and well-practiced voice. He bowed politely to the young lady, "This outfit of mine is my uniform. It is specifically designed to aid me in my profession." he explained, holding the hem of his cloak somewhat sheepishly.
Killer had always enjoyed his work, and felt rather confident that healing the sick and going to the great bounds for the pursuit of knowledge were things that he would gladly spend all of his life doing. Already he had spent a great portion of it simply studying and doing his best to keep up with the medical world as it grew and expanded over the centuries. And even though he wasn’t the most outgoing person, he still did his best to help others when they needed it.
This woman appeared to be kind enough, and certainly friendly. He didn’t seem to mind that she seemed fairly fond of talking. He had always been more of a listener.
But he as he thought about what she had said, he began to wonder about this manor, and it’s inhabitants that she compared him to. ”If I may ask, what is this manor you speak of?”

"Don't tell me they leave you all by your musical lonesome. How could someone say no to something so fun, talent or not?" Her smile got even brighter at the compliment and she gave a little bashful shrug. "Awww, thanks! You're going to make me blush." She chirped, ducking her head in an almost demure fashion. "You're really excellent at that piano though. I bet you could even do it professionally if you wanted."
Heck, if she were still actively pursuing that performing life Ash would have been tempted to try and coax him out of the forest. Though he'd probably be uncomfortable with the big crowds so...yeah. Speaking of the shadow being nervous, he seemed to have gotten quite relaxed with her-or at least when the conversation was on music.
"I love singing or playing with other people. It just seems to add a whole new dynamic to everything that just enhances the fun."
It took some quick thinking to piece together enough lyrics to keep going with the song, but she did it. Dvojník was very impressed, both with her ability to keep going with the song and for her ability to sing. She had a lovely singing voice.
"That was fun!" He chuckled. "I’ve never had the chance to play with anyone who was was willing to sing along…everyone else here either doesn’t want to or doesn’t have the voice for it. You have a darling voice, you know."

{So!}
Mun is being a Hoenn Pokemon Breeder for Halloween.
Yes, simple I know. But hey, college student on budget amiright?
Anyhow, I made a Togepi egg that's anime sized. Lots of crocheting.
But my dilemma now is that I have to choose between making the three starter eggs or making pokeballs. I think I'm going to do the pokeballs then make the eggs if I have time.
IF I do make the eggs which should I do?
Pokemon GPX+ style?
Or 'official' Pokemon game/anime style?
