Armin tried to keep them out of his head for as long as he could, because whenever he went back over his fondest memories, they were somehow bitter and stained. Even the small moments of happiness were marred by him always running behind Eren and Mikasa. It’s just that, when they were kids, they’d allowed him to catch up.

But it's specifically the fact that he lies about it. Lile yeah, compared to Eren and Mikasa, Armin isn't that violent. Eren is Feral and Mikasa would kill anyone to protect him. Armin has been the strategist si far, and yeah, he did trick annie in Stohess, but you can say it was for the greater good, that it was necessary

But this is purely cruel

Is it necessary? Yes. We know he wouldn't do it otherwise. But it's also calculated, it is said to hurt specifically.

And that's what i love about it. Idk, it puts Armin on the same playing field with the others in terms of " bad things they would do to succeed"

I do agree that a life full of propaganda would probably have an impact, so what if his rebellion was more ideological than proof based?

Maybe he's like " my parents had a point trying to escape" to the point where he clings to it. He just happens to have had it proven right. Hell, maybe he could he a foil to zeke in the " parents were radicalists" department and a " how to indoctrinate your child into a rebellion cult properly" ( die before they stopped idolising you)

It would also be very interesting if he had an " I'm more enlightened than the other warriors" and allowed him some Eldian prejudice

You could also give Armin weird feelings about his Titan form. On one hand, it feels like a slight/ insult, on the other hand, it is a super powerful form that he can control, a weapon and the thing that granted him access to the outside world.

Fanfic Author Never Have I Ever

Well, I have shared some ideas about a similar premise here, but I've definitely never written it.

If I were to write something like this, I'd probably have Armin being a lot more lenient with the Paradisians. The plot would revolve around Armin finally deciding to give up on Marley and join the Paradisians. I know a lot of people want to see him commit war crimes (and don't get me wrong, he would), but I think a character with Armin's moral compass would snap when faced with the blatant injustice of Eldian discrimination.

As for Annie, I'd keep her backstory similar: her father wants her to join the Military Police to benefit himself. Still, I think she'd be more open to developing friendships in this scenario as she is not actively betraying anybody. She and Armin would become friends and slowly through time she'd figure out something was off about him and his mysterious friends (as I believe Armin would spend more time with RB than Annie does in canon) and she'd go into sleuth mode.

After Trost, and the revelation of Eren, she'd put two and two together and confront him. Armin would fight her off and try to silence her, revealing that he's a lot more martially inclined than he let on (as he's been trained for years in this AU and also has the benefit of healing quickly). Ultimately though, he wouldn't be able to go through with Marco-ing her as he has a) developed feelings for her and b) has become unconvinced of the supposed evilness of the Paradisians. Then, they'd devise a plan together to uncover the monarchy's secrets and make the public aware of the truth.

P.S. Sooo, there's also the problem of which Titan Armin would get, as Bertolt has the Colossus and is Armin's ally in this. My friend @midnightlighthowlite has a little project where the third member of the titan trio is Pieck instead, and, as much as I loooooove this possibility, to propose something different I say: I'd give Armin the Female. Knowing me, I'd probably turn it into a whole theme about gender identity, toxic masculinity and trans issues too, by having Armin endure bullying back home bc he was chosen for the "girl" titan. I'd have him experience gender dysphoria (either when transformed or when in his regular body depending on where I took the story) and struggle with his presentation in general. Obviously, this would be resolved by Armin embracing his feminine side, either by deciding he's some flavour of trans or by accepting that body parts are gender neutral.

Armins speech post Rumbling is so good, ngl

Because it is, to its core, NOT an Armin speech. Like yes, our boy is Good at Speeches ( tm) esp inprovised ones, he if verbose, he knows how to negotiate, but thay speech was more or less " Fuck y'all, if i still had Colossal, do you think you'd still he standing?!"

And you know what? He deserved it. That sentance was the resolution of Armins Horrible Terrible No Good very bad 5 yrs and then having to talk Zeke into Wanting to Live. That is a Chore. Babygirl deserves to rage.

But the funniest part was all of the Eldians looking at him and the visible mental mayh on 104th face like

" did... did Eren posess Armin? Is this something he can do?"

Like , that was such an Eren thing to yell, you know everyone was worried

Just got back from seeing the new ninja turtles movie bc I got invited to go see it with my little brother and sister and it was honestly really really fun. I enjoyed the art style immensely it definitely does take influence from spiderverse but in its own unique way, it’s very asymmetrical and scribbly and brings beauty to imperfection which is a great artistic representation of what the message of the movie is all about. And I’ll give credit to Seth Rogan where credit is due I applaud him for treating the artists nice and fair during the production of the movie especially with the state of the entertainment industry today, I’ve heard nothing but good things production wise about the movie. I also do enjoy how they got actual teenagers over big name actors to voice the turtles and even let their own hand of influence play into how the turtles were portrayed, the turtles in the movie did feel very genuine, like YEAH a teenager would say that lol and it’s great. Only gripe I really have is that a decent chunk of the humor is in reference to other media which can be alienating to people that don’t understand and just in general I’m not the biggest fan of reference humor but it honestly doesn’t really take away from the movie itself so it’s not toooo big of a deal (also um how are tmnt fans coping with the fact they made donatello an aot fan. Are you guys doing ok I’m so sorry lol). Also it’s not as flashing-image heavy as other spiderversestyle influenced media can be, only time the flashing was excessive was when they were being electrocuted but the scene was very brief. Unfortunate that it was excessive to begin with though, if I had to squint my eyes at it with no photosensitivity issues ik people that do definitely didn’t have a good time with that. Overall it’s a solid movie, you can definitely tell that the people making it had fun and put lots of love into the movie and that’s where my enjoyment of it comes from

If we are to consider this from a serious perspectives, then i think it's likely Reiner hasn't experienced enough platonic love to tell the difference

Like, his mom's love was condițional on his ability to be a warrior. Despite growing up together, at 10, RBA didn't seem very emotionally attached to each other ( how he threatened Annie to not go back after Marcel) and considering they trained together, but also were competing for the titans, mayne they weren't really encouraged to bond

So i think his obsession with Historia was less forced comphet ( although it was a part of it) and more " this is a person who's all right to want, and that i also have feelings for!"

Those feelings were friendship, but none of them had experienced them before

One of the things that actually cane to me a little after processing this scene was...

This scene is horrific, yes, but in the anime, you almost root for it to happen. Like, as Bert's friends are spectating, so are we, because we know what's going to happen. He can't run, we see Titan Armin, we know he's coming back. We only have to wait. I think this is one of the really cool things in aot, bcs ut forced the viewers in Marleys perspective before we even knew Marley existed. On a certain level, we WANT him to get eaten, we want Armin back, we're on the TITAN'S side for once, before we want someone back. It's not until hindsight that it hits and that's what's si great about it

Thoughts about Bertholdt’s death

I was rethinking about Bertholdt’s death… handled in only one page, it’s one of the most bleak and cruelest moments.  

When Bertholdt opens his eyes again, he finds himself alone on a roof, limbs severed, and a pure titan (actually, Armin in his pure titan form) leaning toward him, ready to eat what remains of him. Grasping the situation, he sinks into a state of utter terror. He has no way to escape, no limbs to run away, and he will be devoured. 

But instantly he realizes that he’s not alone, that there’s someone else: he sees Jean, Eren, Mikasa, Connie and unconscious Sasha on the next roof, all of his comrades are there. So he asks for help from them, to be saved.

It was so sad. That desperate request finally showed us that Bertholdt truly thought of them as friends. And that’s because of that reason that he called them upon to save him.  At that moment, Bertholdt couldn’t think clearly, his mind blurred with panic. And instinctively, he asks help at the source from where he expects to find it, from the people with whom he has shared the last three years of his life. This thought doesn’t come from Bertholdt the warrior, the role that he’s been forced to take on. This thought arises from Bertholdt himself. Hence, for a moment, he forgot that they were his enemies, which only a few minutes ago he had tried to wipe out. But he turns toward them, and this is what Bertholdt sees, the last sight that his eyes catch before the end:

All of them, his companions, gathered together, spectating the scene, awaiting for him to be devoured, in order to revive another. I think this was the most horrific thing of all. Bertholdt finally becomes aware that his death is a means to revive someone else, actually loved by them, and that nobody will come to save him. 

So in his very last moment, he cries out Annie’s, and lastly, Reiner’s name. The only persons left that he could think about as friends, the only ones left to whom he could still mentally ask for help. But he knows that neither of them will come to save him. During his last moments, not a single ray of consolation and care has sparkled for him, Bertholdt has died completely alone.
