Final tasting for Ben and Jessica's Wedding grazing table. While they take pictures of their first moments the guests will be invited to begin the incredible all Tasmanian menu we've been planning for quite some time. I am always humbled when someone would like to use my food to commemorate a milestone, and few are as big as a wedding. This one is even more special because of the friendship I share with Ben, and through Ben his lovely mother Miss Rosemary. He and I met years ago at Gospel choir practice. He is a man of strong faith and family ties, who has the best sense of humor and shares similar taste in pop culture, fashion, and the love of quality time with friends with me. We've been united in prayers on things close to our hearts, for our peers, for our country, and for our professional selves for years. Imagine the delight when B called to tell me of his blessing in Jessica. I'll never forget the joy and admiration in B's voice as he told me about her. It was such a beautiful conversation, that lead to this special day ahead of us. They will refresh their guests with a His and Hers themed menu of favorites that will give insight to their favorite foods through the years. We have some Que, some sweets, some comfort classics, and some old school faves. These offerings will add to joy, to the festive atmosphere, and speak to the generosity of their hearts. They've chosen inclusive, vibrant dishes that will display their thoughtfulness to all who will attend. I just wanted to start this week off with a post about them. It's going to go by so swiftly I wish them clarity and peaceful space to take it all in. Bacon Cheese Poppers

These bacon cheese poppers are definitely a must try for any occasion.They’re very easy to make, they look great, and they have such a wonderfultaste. The poppers are a step up from the usual poppers.Servings: 30Preparation Time: 60 minutesIngredients:16 jalapeno peppers1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened1 1/2 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese1 c. sharp shredded cheddar cheese1/2 c. crumbled blue cheese6 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled

1/4 tsp. salt1/4 tsp. onion powder1/4 tsp. garlic powder1/4 tsp. grated lemon peel1/4 tsp. chili powder1/2 c. panko (Japanese) bread crumbsSour cream or ranch salad dressingInstructions:Halve jalapenos lengthways and seed them, then put aside.Beat together chili powder, lemon peel, garlic powder, onion powder, salt,bacon and cheeses in a small bowl, then scoop into pepper halves. Dip intothe bread crumbs with tops of stuffed peppers.Arrange onto 2 15-inch x10-inch x1-inch baking pans coated with grease thenbake at 350 degrees until heated through, about 20 to 25 minutes. Servetogether with ranch dressing or sour cream.

Community

Sometimes it takes the not so great and painful experiences for me to learn what the Lord is trying to teach me. In order for me to understand and realize the value of community around me (as in those in close proximity to me), He allows me to go through with my decisions to miss out on opportunities to bond with those who actually live in the same state and go to the same college as me....a lot of regret and sadness comes from that. 

Community....don't get me wrong, there is great power in being united in Spirit with brothers and sisters in Christ who are hundreds and thousands of miles away but, there is also great importance of community with those that are actually close to you proximity wise, those you can actually see everyday. Being close to each other gives us abundant opportunity to build deeper relationships, grow together, speak truth and give grace to one another, and above all fulfill the commandment that Jesus had given to us to go and make disciples of all nations.

This evening at our first Epic weekly meeting of the semester, we actually touched on the topic of community and our purpose. In the well known verse about the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus spoke to not individuals alone but to a community. He gave the commandment to a gathering of believers. While each of us have an individual duty to fulfill this command, we are also to do it with each other, giving encouragement and guidance. 

While I will always remember and cherish the relationships I have developed with those living in different states, the Lord is reminding me that He has placed in here in my state and college for a particular reason: to serve Him and the community around me alongside my fellow brothers and sisters. 

Hebrews 10:24-25 "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
