And so it begins

Yesterday was fun.  

The store opened almost 45 minutes late.  My replacement can't tell time.  Why yes, I know we have to run to the bank so I can introduce you to everyone there so they'll know you're authorized to make and pick up deposits since the owners won't be around to do it and it has to be done BEFORE we open so that the payroll won't bounce but obviously, the best time to do that is AFTER the time we're supposed to be open.  

He spent the whole day on the phone trying to find a cable and internet provider who will service his apartment and I waited on all the customers.  He blatantly refused to even try to work the cash register or make drinks even though today was supposed to be the day I 'supervised' him and he did all the work.  Oh well.  Yesterday we were under the agreement that I would leave when school got out so he could be trained by the other employees for the rest of the night.  

When they came in, I said my goodbyes and went to a store down the road to see if they finally had any of the new product they'd all been talking up for weeks and next thing I know all of them walk in.  Apparently they had already decided that they didn't want to work there without me/with such a terrible replacement.and turned in their keys as soon as their paychecks cleared/they convinced the bank to cash it even though it would overdraw the account since it was their last one.  

Even the ladies at the bank were super sad to see me go and said they had heard terrible things about my replacement already and they were hoping that he'd figure it out soon before there's no one left who's even willing to go in the store.

Overall, it's been an incredibly rough time for me, but I'm glad that I've received such overwhelming support from customers, vendors, even the accountant!  I honestly wish them the best--sort of.  I suppose it's more along the lines that I honestly hope they understand what they've done to the business by hiring someone so deplorable that even patrons who have never met me refuse to let him serve them or look at him like they're uncomfortable.  One person came in for an application and her mother took one look at the guy and said that she could apply somewhere else instead.

So I guess, I just wish that they realize their mistake in the person they chose to replace me.  I was already leaving so it didn't matter to me that they chose someone, it matters to me the kind of person they chose.has done more to offend customers in 2 days than I have done at any job I've worked at in my entire life. 

Now it's on for the panic job search. You know, the one that comes after the lazy job search that goes on when you're not worried about getting one or not :)
