Server Management Services vs. In-house Management: Pros and Cons
When it comes to managing servers, businesses have the option to either handle it in-house or outsource it to server management services. While in-house management may seem convenient, there are several advantages to opting for server management services.
One of the key benefits of server management services is expertise. Service providers specialize in server management and have a team of skilled professionals with extensive knowledge in the field. They stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices, ensuring that your servers are managed efficiently and securely.
Another advantage is round-the-clock support. Server management services offer 24/7 monitoring and support, ensuring that any issues or potential problems are addressed promptly. This minimizes downtime and ensures the smooth functioning of your servers.
Cost-effectiveness is also a factor to consider. In-house server management requires hiring and training staff, investing in infrastructure and software, and ongoing maintenance costs. On the other hand, server management services offer cost-effective packages tailored to your specific needs, allowing you to save on overhead expenses.
Moreover, server management services provide scalability and flexibility. As your business grows, your server requirements may change. Service providers can easily scale up or down the resources to meet your evolving needs, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
While in-house management may provide a certain level of control, it can be time-consuming and divert resources from core business activities. With server management services, you can focus on your business goals while leaving the technical aspects to the experts.
In conclusion, server management services offer specialized expertise, 24/7 support, cost-effectiveness, scalability, and flexibility. By outsourcing server management, businesses can benefit from reliable and efficient server operations, allowing them to concentrate on their core objectives.

According to the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, #compromisedcredentials are the top reason for a bad actor #hacking into an organization.
And yet, most organisations are unable to stop the sharing of #SSH keys internally and with external teams. Implementation of #justintime Access is the answer, everywhere right from Day 1.

Should have posted this sooner but Netflix leaked the date of The Amazing Digital Circus episode 4 back in October
Back when episode 3 had just launched on Netflix like a whole minute before the Youtube premier (since it had a count down), Netflix showed this on the mobile app.
Tumblr media
A placeholder image for Episode 4 of Pomni in front of the digital turkey from episode 1 and text that says "Coming in December."
I screenshotted it because surely there's no way this was true given the spacing between release dates of the last 2 episodes (two & three) and sent it to my partners and a server I'm in dismissing it as just Netflix being Netflix and putting out misinformation as streaming services are known to do quite often. Seeing as Netflix just acquired the rights to have it also shown on their platform, it was even more likely it was just total misinformation as GLITCH hasn't been that transparent with us before about this series and there was no word on episode 4 in any official capacity.
Tumblr media
Editing this after having written the initial post: Apparently it was also supposedly leaked on the Netflix website too with a more specific date given.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cut to yesterday when we got this image of seemingly promotional material for the next episode from GLITCH. I was shocked, it's coming soon then? Maybe this is just to tide us over for a few months, the Netflix leak was probably not even a leak. (This is the best quality I got, I don't have a twitter and I'm sure the instagram image compression is as bad as the Youtube community post.)
Tumblr media
Ah yes, this man is super charitable with his 57 cents. 😂 (inb4 North America public service job moments with the two gunmen NPCs on the loose.)
Tumblr media
AND THEN TODAY THE TRAILER DROPPED TELLING US THAT EPISODE 4 WILL DROP ON DECEMBER 13TH! I am shocked, I am in awe, and fuck Netflix for leaking the general date (even if it's just the month) that the next episode would come out as that wasn't official information that we were probably supposed to know. Also here's a banner showing something new going on with Gangle.
Tumblr media
youtube
Having said that though I enjoy little leaks like this personally, whether it was coincidental and misinformation on the streaming service's part or not. CHECK THE NETFLIX PAGE AND APP RIGHT AS EPISODE 4 DROPS OR WITHIN THOSE 24-48 HOURS I GUESS! MAYBE THEY'LL DO IT AGAIN! 🤯 Netflix just can't stop leaking things I guess, from entire shows to release dates of shows.
Another edit: Apparently Gangle's VA said somewhere in this live stream that it was coming out in December, but I haven't watched all of it; so, I can't confirm if that's true.
Tumblr media
#couldn't find the screenshot in the partner group chat so the discord server one a whole day later will have to do#just goes to show that netflix is terrible at managing things that weren't supposed to be released yet and leaking them to the public#though as digital circus fans that also gives us something to look forward to; let's see if they do it a second time lmao#I'll absolutely be keeping my eye out for that episode 5 leaked vague release date in the near future#they still don't show it on the app btw so someone probably got in trouble with glitch productions and had to take it down#wonder what pomni jax gangle and ragatha are gonna get up to as I haven't watched the trailer yet but given the newspaper article#I think it'll be America customer service simulator and Jax will be held at gun point or something by the robbers and taunt them daring the#to do it to pull the trigger cmon coward just shoot already then it'll blast out confetti or something because age rating game censorship#I think Orbsman will be like the super important customer role or something too and will probably give the fast food place a star rating#I'm sure people who follow gooseworx more actively on tumblr and other social media might have seen this coming but I wanted to point it ou#mine#op#the amazing digital circus#tadc#the amazing digital circus episode 4#tadc 4#tadc 4 spoilers#tadc spoilers#tagging just to be safe as I'm probably right about some parts of the plot; also calling it now Gangle gets a power trip#after she becomes or is appointed as manager and that's gonna be such an interesting dynamic to see with the rest of the cast

100 Days of Deathduo
Customer Service AU!!
This is made for @mintyteasoup because they are so very cool. Happy birthday Minty! You are so beloved. I hope I did this au justice, even though I've never worked in customer service these are all real stories haha.
Oh, this was exciting. Well, the job itself wasn’t, and Icee had originally wanted to work somewhere else, a library maybe, or a teacher’s assistant, or something, but this was a decent enough option. It would give them money at least. And Clover was here, worked here, and was an assistant manager here, which was the exciting part. Clover was so cool. Working at a store was just stocking shelves and bagging items right? So it would be fine.
They were a tad nervous, it was a new job, a new situation, but it would be fine! Probably. And so, Icee walked up to the store doors and waited for them to open automatically. It made them feel like a jedi whenever it happened, and they sneakily looked around before holding their hand out to pretend they were using the force. Only for the doors to not open. Right. The store was closed.
Icee got their phone out and texted Clover. They texted her on the app they had downloaded for work, instead of discord, which was a bit strange, but this was a work related thing! And so should be kept in the work app chat messages. Which was great. Amazing, really.
Oh. According to Clover, Icee was supposed to go into the side entrance. Not the front entrance. That made a lot of sense, actually. Just as she said, when they got to the correct door, it was unlocked. And Clover was on the other side when Icee entered. Which was such great news.
“Icee! Hello! Welcome to your new job. Here, let me show you where to clock in and then I can instruct you what to do. We haven’t opened yet but there are a few things we need to do beforehand. Any questions?” Clover asked.
Icee shook their head, and headed to the clipboard, signing in and logging their hours. It was a fairly straightforward thing, really, just writing their name and the time they entered the building. What job would Clover assign them? Maybe Icee would have to restock some of the shelves, or put away some of the items.
“Great, now that that’s done, I’m gonna show you to the cleaning supplies and the bathrooms, which you will be cleaning during your morning shifts. All the newbie’s do it.” And oh. Clover was assigning the bathroom duties to Icee. They made a face showing their displeasure.
“Clover. Clover do I have to? Can’t I help somewhere else?” Icee asked. Clover just looked at them amused.
“Sorry Icee, that’s not how it works. Bathroom duties don’t care about friendships.” She says, shaking her head and gesturing to follow.
“Please Clover? What if I get you hot cocoa? And gummy worms?” Icee begs, a last ditch effort. Clover just laughs again.
“No. And we both know you are gonna do that anyways. Even though you absolutely do not have to ever.” She smiles amusedly. “Now come on, follow me to the cleaning closet.
Icee follows, grumbling under their breath. So much for Clover being the exciting part of the job.
—--
It was a pretty average Tuesday, not the busiest but busy enough that there was a steady stream of customers at Clover’s register. It was nice sometimes, getting into the lull of scanning and bagging items, making pleasant small talk with the customers. Sure, occasionally there were a few rude ones, but today had been pretty calm in terms of the customers.
“Hello there.” Clover politely smiled as she started scanning the items, smiling at the customer in front of her while she worked. They let out a polite hello, but when Clover looked up, their eyes were focused on something behind her. Which wasn’t too strange, they were probably checking out some of the items required to stay back there.
And then Clover felt a chill down her spine when she heard a voice directly behind her say “Boo,” as she felt someone poke her shoulder, and she yelped and swiftly turned, properly startled.
“Icee! How could you do this to me?” She asked as she started laughing, seeing her coworker and friend in front of her. They just laughed in response and grabbed one of the spare keys from the counter behind Clover before waving and leaving, continuing to chuckle.
Clover shook her head fondly and looked at the customer who was also laughing slightly. “You saw them, didn’t you?” She asked, and she she grinned when they nodded their head. ‘I will get them back, don’t worry.” She responded as she gave them their order.
—------
It was Icee’s first day at the register without assistance. They were really moving up in the world. Kind of. Maybe just moving up in the store, but hey, progress is progress. It was going smoothly, really, and Clover was only a text away if they needed help, which was pretty nice.
They smiled at the man who was next and focused on scanning and bagging the items, making sure to put the bread on top and ask if he wanted a bag for his milk, doing all of the things that a good register worker did. It was perfect. And then the man’s card declined when he tried to pay, and he started walking away before they realized what has happened.
“Sir? Sir, your card declined.” They called out, but the store was loud and a bit busier than normal, and they didn’t think he could hear them. So obviously, Icee did the only logical thing to do.
And jumped directly over the counter. They apologized to the next customer in line and started running over to the man. “Sir, your card declined!’ They said, huffing from the sprint. I’m so sorry, but would you, uh, possibly come back to pay?” They said, as calmly as they could while out of breath.
Luckily, the man seemed to only be annoyed instead of outright angry, and he came back without much of a hassle. And when they got back to their station, they saw Clover behind the register, smiling amusedly at them.
“You really shouldn’t leave your station unattended, you know. But it’s ok, you did your best and I'm proud of you.’ Clover said, letting Icee take their place back to complete the transaction. “Next time, you could always call me or the security guards, you don’t have to become an Olympian to try to catch someone.” She said, tapping the phone next to the register. “I’m always gonna be here if you need me.”
Icee just laughed, a bit embarrassed, and started finishing the transaction with the man.

Thinking abt the other day at work where one of my tables (2 middle aged white women) asked to speak to the manager bc they had to wait like a few more minutes than usual for their food (there was one cook in the kitchen and they got shit that takes a while to cook anyway) and then they said I "disappeared" and never checked on them in the maybe 10 minutes they were eating. bc I was in the back doing backups and silverware. And they tipped me like $3 after getting the manager to discount their $30 bill for literally nothing
And then LATER that day I had a table (3 middle aged or older asian men) who came in before we got busy and then I fucked up their order bc they wanted 3 of everything they ordered and I only put in 1 of everything bc I couldn't hear the guy ordering very well (i thought one person was getting a soup one getting wings and one getting steak not 3 of each) and the other two had to wait an HOUR for their food bc we got wildly busy when I put the rest in and it was like explicitly bc I fucked up and I told them that and they were so nice and still paid the whole like $200 bill and tipped me like $50 without like any complaints at all

Since you seem to be using the EA app, would you mind telling me how functional/dysfunctional it is? I haven’t played the game in a while, so I haven’t switched over yet, but origin REALLY doesn’t seem to want me to keep using it. I don’t really want to have to play an offline game online though, so how different is it? Thanks if you’re willing to answer!
i've only been using it for like a week so i can't really speak for the functionality just yet 🙁

Klawf is an ambush predator. You'd think that the horrible land crustacean wouldn't be good at that, but then when it's actually in the environment it should be in, you will immediately lose them.
In other news, there's a Klawf somewhere in this goddamn ravine. I don't know where, but there sure is one! I may be bigger than it, but I fear it nonetheless.

so yea running servers isnt like a cheap thing is what ive been learning these past couple weeks
#fair warning this is me just like going off new knowledge so i could be getting things wrong#buying an actual server isnt really that expensive itself! the issue is like actually running it and when you have actual ppl on said serve#thats where costs start racking up#theres different ways to go about handling a server but mainly what ive been getting from this is:#self hosting (running urself) or managed hosting (having a 3rd party run it for you)#so when ur small or solo u can get away with managed servers cause theyre pretty lowcost or free#and you usually want to go this route if you dont have the skills built up to take care of a server yourself#or if you arent interested in learning cause its pretty time consuming and u have to upkeep it#but they are scary expensive once u get a certain amount of users from what ive seen#its extremely convenient and gives u peace of mind but theres no point using the service if ur making enough money#especially since you wont have as much control of your server if its managed#so at that point just hire people to take care of your own servers you buy#however there are still server costs u need to pay (along with the people u have hired)#im only bringing this up to say that solmare is running ''two'' separate servers for two seperate games (as far as ik)#and probably arent making that much more in profit cause#me as a user...if i have two games that r practically the same on my phone im not spending money on both#its either one or the other#but you still need to pay accordingly to have both of these servers up#like realistically they arent gonna be able to keep both apps running indefinitely#but yea whatever they were saying in the beginning about having both games running and not forgetting about the og#was either a very generous guess or they were just lying#if it were like a nikki game situation where all the games r very different then maybe it would have been feasible#anyways yea sorry i needed an excuse to talk about the website stuff ive been learning!! and obey me is always in the back of my head#im like thinking about this stuff a lot cause for my site i need to have a server and its like okay we r gucci rn#i can stick with managed for now cause im assuming its gonna stay small#but like...theres always that non zero percent chance that it might not be gucci later on lol#so been researching a lot and i just dont wanna run my own server that sounds so boring its not even funny#so yea im just like AHHH
