Oh boy, this has been sitting in my inbox for so many days because first I didn’t have the time and then I had some trouble finding ideas… Anyway, here I am! And I hope you don’t mind me keeping this a little short because otherwise this post would extend into infinity and clog up y’all’s dashes…

Anyways!

When Tsubaki has a really bad day (or week, or month…), even Beru puts aside his usual loud and flashy demeanor and just sits down in Tsubaki’s room, practicing magic tricks or occupying himself alone or simply talking on and on without expecting Tsubaki to reply. He even sleeps in Tsubaki’s room, only ever leaving it to go to the bathroom or get them both food and drinks.

As soon as Tsubaki’s state gets a bit more stable, Beru tries to get him talking. As the one closest to Tsubaki he knows exactly what he likes to talk about, and this is what he brings up, whether it’s by involving Tsubaki in pun battles or showing memes or by chattering on about their friends and plans they’ve made for the future. Observation has told him that Tsubaki instantly feels a little better when talking about something he likes.

However, Beru also makes an effort to try and get Tsubaki out of his room a little to get his mind off things. Every so often he’ll drag him to their favorite sushi place or the arcade or the carnival, frequently also dragging the rest of the squad with him; if Tsubaki has no energy to leave the house then Berukia brings the fun to him, bringing the entire squad into Tsubaki’s room to keep them both company.

Envy Pair:

Mikuni often tries to talk Jeje into taking off his paper bags, but Jeje refuses. So one day Mikuni comes up with a plan: He takes a picture of Jeje’s face while the latter is sleeping and shamelessly pastes it onto his lowest paper bag. Jeje is appropriately unamused and confronts him about it after waking up, to which Mikuni only responds that Jeje’s face is too pretty to hide from the world. (Unfortunately, Jeje brushes it off as one of his pranks.)

After this incident, Mikuni frequently digs through websites and magazines for pictures of celebrities who he thinks look like Jeje and who are considered beautiful. He finds quite a bunch and shows them to Jeje; Jeje, however, doesn’t see any resemblance and once again believes Mikuni is trying to tease him about his appearance.

Many, many failed attempts later Mikuni finally gets fed up with it and complains that Jeje never believes him when he compliments him on his looks. Cue a very confused Jeje replying that it’s because he’s obviously just joking; Mikuni is very shaken by that response and proceeds to shout at his Servamp for having so little trust in him and how he was genuinely trying, because it’s infuriating to see Jeje’s face every day and know how pretty it is and be met with nothing but denial whenever he says that. Jeje is left speechless, but he does realize that Mikuni is being honest and at least doesn’t brush off his compliments anymore, even if he doesn’t believe them.

Here ya go! I hope you don’t mind the silly Envy Pair, I can’t think of a way for them to communicate that isn’t half Mikuni being Mikuni… Anyway, hope you like it! Thanks for requesting!

Day 8: Melancholy/THANK YOU!

I ended up joining Servamp fandom here on tumblr about... Four years ago now? In 2018, right after moving to a different state and leaving everything I knew behind. I found the anime by complete chance while browsing the Josei tag, and now... Here I am!!

I don’t know where I would be right now without this fandom, I really, truly, don’t. I’ve met so many wonderful, kind, amazing people through this series, rediscovered my love of creation, and made tons of friends!

To everyone who’s been with me on this journey... THANK YOU!

But my Serious answer?

Buckle up, because even I don’t know how long this is gonna end up being.

I always thought of the rebirth/innocence/fertility aspects. We know they’re most likely not necessarily EASTER eggs for one specific detail. EASTER is a Christian celebration/holiday… or at least it originally was before commercialization. The original Christian celebrating of Easter, Mesopotamians dyed eggs red to represent the blood of Christ and Jesus’ resurrection. When this started to get played out less and less in favor of the decorative or pastel themed eggs? I have no clue, but if you look into any origin of Easter you will come across this tradition description at least a handful of times. Eggs were dyed and painted in various traditions predating and unrelated to the Christian Easter though. I don’t believe the eggs surrounding Lily’s inner have anything to do with Easter per se because of 3 reasons.

How common the dyed blood red tradition was in orthodox Christianity

The fact that all the Servamps come from a time period where conformity to religious teachings was so much more common than it is today, a time where this tradition was likely still in practice at least to a degree more so than the bunnies the chocolate and the goodie baskets

Adaptations always make changes from the original source material… but Tanaka did have approval on some of the changes made. Similar to the fact that Sakuya and Sis had the exact same hair type and color while their parents guardians both had average dark hair is something only seen in the anime and a change that wasn’t at all necessary unless Tanaka wanted it that way to come back to at some point. When it comes to applying color to the original black and white source material excluding the official art and covers, Tanka most likely had to be consulted for approving at least some color choices for certain scenes. Watch this egg scene in the movie… you’ll notice absolutely no use of blood red at all on any of the eggs

Pinks, greens, blues, golds, purples, corals, teals… but no red eggs that could represent Jesus’ blood that, around the time Lily would’ve been alive, could’ve still been in more common practice in Christianity’s celebration of Easter. Kind of fitting in the aspect that a Servamp is an embodiment of sin that it would directly oppose a Christian practice of red eggs representing Jesus’ resurrection.

So you can pretty much deduce the eggs are something other than traditional Easter eggs.

But then, in both the manga and the movie, there’s this egg:

Both mediums take the time to focus on that broken hollow egg. Beautiful on the outside but at the end of the day, nothing but a hollow shell.

SO,

If the backgrounds aren’t coincidental and are in fact related to circumstances surrounding the how that Servamp died as a human, then I’d like to bring back the Lily may have been a victim of human trafficking/molestation theory from @katzkinder ’s post Lily and Stripping. I hate to say it but everything added up, unfortunately makes sense. Specifically, the lines: “he shows his body as a hypersexual coping mechanic that’s constantly at war with his desire to just be comfortable in his own skin and his distaste for strangers seeing him as a sexual object” and “which is why being able to see past his mask is so important, and why it becomes so impactful later in his Eve’s life when Misono learns to do it as easily as breathing. There’s no point in keeping it up, so he starts, little by little, to learn to discard it. To allow Misono, even if no one else, to see those parts of himself that aren’t pretty or desirable. The mean, ugly truth of the kind of man he is.” It makes sense that if this ends up being related to what actually happened to Lily, that decorated eggs would fit. The colorful, pleasing to the eye, designs that decorate the egg - the lie - the mask of what you believe would please others instead of reality… the reality of the traumatic, dark, cold, hollow shell just on the other side of the decorated egg. I think the eggs do indeed tie into the rebirth/innocence/fertility aspects… but more so serve as a representation of Lily’s compulsive desire, to create a more desirable interpretation of circumstance. Both his own and those he cares for. His power is manipulating someone’s interpretation of memories/events, but he does it because he doesn’t want anyone to be unnecessarily traumatized if he can hide that pain away for them.

Or that’s one of my interpretations at least.

Meet the Staff and Cast of King's Game

Just in time for Halloween, this year's fall season is offering a two-for-one on survival games. Where Juni Taisen offers an over-the-top battle royale, King’s Game leans much more heavily into the horror side of the genre. A class of 32 students receive text messages from an unknown “king” in a game of Simon Says where failure to obey the rules means certain death.

The Staff

King’s Game is based on an original story by Nobuaki Kanazawa, which was, appropriate to the subject matter, a mobile novel read on the phone. His first and only work, King's Game has been a blowout success, exceeding 40 million views. Since, Kanazawa has written 8 works in the same world which have been published under Futaba and sold over 8 million copies in total. Kenji Konuta with be adapting the story for series composition, whose past experience includes Servamp and the second season of Ace of Diamond.

The series will be directed by Noriyoshi Sasaki. It will be his first full series at the helm, with his previous directorial work being the shorts Ojisan no Marshmallow and My Wife is the Student Council President+!, the latter under King’s Game’s production studio Seven. To date, the majority of Sasaki’s work has been as a key animator and episode director and neither director nor studio have touched on material quite like King’s Game before. If that wasn’t enough, studio Seven is also entering new territory with King’s Game as the studio’s first solo production featuring full-length episodes.

Kan Soramoto, who worked with Sasaki previously on My Wife is the Student Council President+!, will be chief animation director and lead character designer. Although well acquainted with animation direction, this with be Soramoto’s first venture into character design and it's quite an ambitious project to start off with featuring a full class of 32 distinct characters right from the start. Perhaps that is why Yosuki Ito is also slated as a character designer for the series. Ito also previously crossed paths with Sasaki working on Psycho-Pass, which is about as close thematically to King’s Game as any of the primary staff’s experience approaches.

The Cast

The primary character, Nobuaki Kanazawa, is voiced by industry legend Mamoru Miyano whose numerous roles include, but are in no way limited to, Kei from Ajin, Dazai from Bungou Stray Dogs, Masaomi from Durarara!!, Rin from Free!, Chrollo Lucifer from Hunter X Hunter, Death The Kid from Soul Eater, Takuto from Star Driver, Rintarou from Steins;Gate, Tsukiyama from Tokyo Ghoul, and JJ from Yuri!! on Ice. The lone survivor from his previous school's King's Game,  Kanazawa is likely to go through a range of emotions discovering he will once again become the victim of a nightmare scenario which Miyano will doubtless be prepared to deliver. The heroine, Natsuko Honda, is voiced by Yui Horie, who was Naru in Love Hina, Tsubasa in the Monogatari series, Chie in Persona 4, and Minori from Toradora!.

  Among their many supporting classmates, a few interesting names emerge such as Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, voicing Toshiyuki Abe, who was Kirito in Sword Art Online, Souma from Food Wars, Sora from No Game No Life, and Teruki from Mob Psycho 100. Another is M.A.O, who will be Chiemi Honda, who you may recognize as Hikari from Digimon Tri and Luluco from Space Patrol! Luluco. Each seem well suited to playing innocent students thrown into a dangerous situation. Ultimately, in a series packed with horror and intrigue, we can expect a great demand on the voice actors to modulate their performance with the mood. Of course, how long any of them will last is anyone’s guess.

King’s Game is an interesting prospect for the fall season from a production standpoint. For the director Sasaki and Studio Seven this will be their first full televised solo production, for the Soramoto it will be his first production as character designer, and for all of the above, it will be their first venture into a genre with such dark and brutal themes. The anime can rely on its strong source material and experienced voice talent, but it will be a great opportunity for the people behind the scenes to show that they’re made of.

omg i finally drew a digi-drawing again =///=) sry for dat pause ~ and I was planning on drawing Officer-Tsubaki for a long time too :D  ! because there were some Art-thieves lurking around recently... ! >.>)~

A lot of people told me about sellers using my art illegaly. For example someone is selling a Kuro-Wall-Poster. A Wall-Poster with MY DRAWING on it ! -.- or a KuroPillow with the same print on it. My Ball-Kuro-drawings seems to be very popular x'D <3

They neither asked for permission nor gave credit. I don't want my drawings to be sold like this...unless I would've opened my own shop or sth. But I would've told you of course.

 So they are really trying to make Profit with my drawings. You know, it's illegal and punishable. - I was trying to report those items on Amazon/Ebay, but I'm not sure if that will help. otherwise I gotta get a lawyer or sth :'D I don't know if they already sold sth, but.....

PLEASE - DON'T BUY those items. I'm really honored that some people might love a Poster or a pillow with my drawings on it but..... nobody wants Art-thieves to be supported. I'm not even the only one whose Servamp-Fanart is getting sold. So... I just wanted to make sure to let you know about it.

YES, you read that right! It took for-freaking-ever, but in my defense this is one of those would-not-end chapters X’D I already had to cut some of the stuff I wanted to put in this one! This time on GPF: Mahiru in captivity and the others’ rescue mission. But does Mahiru even need one?

Absolutely! His name, according to the character CD cover and other official art, is Berukia, but at this point in the fandom you can pretty much call him whatever you want, honestly. TsuBeru headcanons, here we go! Be prepared for a bunch of nonsense…

The meme couple. Definitely the meme couple. From quoting those bro posts at each other to sending each other memes at three in the morning and both going “MMM WHATCHA SAY” in unison whenever something fitting happens, they’re both a bunch of memes to the point where the others suspect it’s the only thing their relationship runs on.

They’re also annoyingly vocal about how much they love each other. Sometimes they’ll go to the club and individually chat up random people and ask if they’re single, only to proceed to tell them they’ll never be as good as their respective boyfriend.

Couple selfies, lots of them. You can bet they’re anything but the classic definition of romantic though – these two are major goofballs, and they’ll definitely put on stupid sunglasses or make funny faces at the camera. They both have a huge folder on their phones dedicated solely to these stupid pictures, which they also obnoxiously share in the Melancholy Team group chat.

They constantly complete each other’s sentences and then high five.

For them, being together is all about adventure. You will rarely find them cuddling on the couch for a movie night, unless they’re watching horror movies and trying to scare the crap out of each other, or holding hands in the sunset. They’re constantly looking for new ways to have fun and enjoy life together, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t close or wouldn’t support each other through any tough time that may occur, physically and emotionally.

Heyho, i´m back again ^^ So, any cute headcanons? About Belkia. Belkia back when he was young, and the life as a subclass was new to him. Like how he dealt with being a vampire and how Tsubaki helped him.

Welcome back! And to you, too, apologies for the delay. Hmm, Berukia, huh? In all honesty I’ve never thought about this guy much, but I’ll see what I can come up with! Well…

I think we can all agree that even before becoming a vampire, Berukia was already a stage magician. Maybe he started out with a circus and traveled the world, making his tricks flashier and flashier in the hopes of outshining everyone else and becoming the main attraction, and he was always full of envy for all the others who got too much attention for his liking. From an early age he had always craved attention but never managed to get it, being a middle child in a poor family, and the circus gave him everything he had ever dreamed of and more, allowing him to have all eyes on him as he went from a bored teen into an increasingly flashier and more flamboyant version of himself who constantly seeked to stand out even more, be admired more until he forgot everything else over it, including his morals.

Tsubaki first met him at one of his shows when he was still young and little known, being one of the first people to acknowledge him and keep an eye on him while recognizing the dangerous path he was heading down and resolving to make him one of his people when he died. And indeed Berukia soon slid down the slippery slope; in a furious burst of envy he brutally murdered a more successful rival and later killed several more people until he was caught and executed for his deeds and Tsubaki was there to make him his subclass, offering him the chance to be even flashier and never fear execution again, no matter what he did.

Beru, I think, adapted quickly to being a vampire. He had always been nocturnal to begin with, and he took delight in his new superpowers, even if some of the changes annoyed him, and he and Tsubaki quickly became best bros. Drinking blood was a bit of a foreign concept to him and took some time to learn, but he thought of it as yet another magic trick to master and taught himself, including how much he could drink from someone without killing them (no need to murder someone every time he was hungry, after all). Since he was one of Tsubaki’s earliest subclasses, he also took to traveling the world with him searching for others to join them, although Tsubaki usually made the decisions over his head.

I kinda think... if Mahiru does become a subclass, he’d be Tsubaki’s somehow... maybe that’s why Tanaka made it so only his subclass could be out in the sunlight...

Hmm… You think so? I never really considered it from that angle, but that’s an interesting standpoint! It certainly would be an interesting development, that’s for sure. I mean, Mahiru joining the Dork Squad and turning the whole gang upside down? Glorious. And I do think it’d be sad if Mahiru became someone else’s subclass and never got to see the sun again, go to school, do all that stuff he used to do so normally… But then again, at the moment I don’t really see much incentive for Tsubaki to turn him. I mean, Mahiru’s some kind of key in his mystery plan, but would he still be as useful to said plan as a human, or does it depend on him being an Eve? And otherwise, well, they are enemies. If Sakuya talks Tsubaki into it, maybe. But for Kuro that would be a sad day… losing his first ever Eve and friend to the vampire who tried to kill them both? Ouch. I hope it doesn’t come to that. Although TBH I hope Mahiru won’t become a subclass at all anytime soon… No matter who turned him, it still wouldn’t be the same, would it?
